May i suggest you switch to survivor? I did and the game has become so much more relaxing.
Please give it a chance. Especially with the QoL changes, solo is so much less stressful than killer.
I definitely play more survivor than I used to with the QoL updates. Problem is that I still get a lot of teammates who refuse to do anything useful for the first 5 minutes of the match and then go down immediately once found by the killer and then hook suicide after their first hook. Then I go back to playing killer to avoid useless teammates :)
-
This is an inevitable endpoint for a lot of killer players who get fed up with facing high-level SWF teams. When you’re up against coordinated players who know what they’re doing, there’s not much you can do, especially if you want to play “fair” and not camp or tunnel. Dead Hard gives survivors a third health state, meaning each chase will likely last longer enough to get one or more gens done considering how easy it is to jump from safe loop to safe loop on many maps. After three or maybe four hooks it’s GG and all four survivors t-bagging you at the exit gate. Until there simply aren’t enough killer players to sustain the game, this state of imbalance will continue. The game makes most of its money from survivor players and if the game balance is adjusted to make it more difficult for them, many of them will stop playing.
-
BHVR could save themselves a lot of work and literally just revert to old Hillbilly with the instasaw add-ons nerfed a bit and nobody would complain.
-
I don’t know how BHVR collecting more data is going to balance the game. They have all the data they need and haven’t been able (or willing) to do it. Most killers dodge lobbies because of suspected SWF groups. Unless BHVR does something to nerf SWF which has a huge unfair advantage with ability to communicate info on comms then killers are going to continue dodging it and I don’t blame them.
-
Don’t forget Hillbilly’s add-ons. Hot pile of garbage

If you can tell me the actual number of times that youve proven you went against a scripter let me know
Ill give you 5$ if theres more than 3
That’s the problem - you can’t prove it. But it doesn’t really matter. Players either are 100% perfect at timing DH every single time or a lot of players are cheating. In either case, there is no counter and that’s what I and a lot of others are complaining about. Maybe I’m wrong, but I think a lot of people would agree that an uncounterable third health state for survivors is a bit too overpowered and unhealthy for game balance.

Are you trying to imply you go against atleast 1 auto DH a match? Lmao some killer mains man…
I had a killer DC after my friend on PS5 pulled off a DH after spinning 3 times and guessing correctly when the killer would attack. He was blaming my friend for using auto DH which is impossible on consoles. Maybe admit you got outplayed and you aren’t as good as you think you are?
1) I’m not a “killer main” (I play both sides about equally), 2) I don’t think I’m good, but thanks for the nice little unsolicited jab there, and 3) I wasn’t implying anything about how frequently I see auto DH.
I always try to bait out DH and sometimes it works. There are also occasions where the same person will time it impossibly well every single time.
So for those times where the person it timing it impossibly well, they are either amazingly good at pressing a button at the right time or they are cheating. Either way, ######### am I supposed to do to counter it? If there is no way to counter it, how am I being “outplayed”?
-
If you can figure out a way to counter auto DH scripts, let me know

What happened to these 2 perk types? The last time we got a new scourge perk was Floods of rage(I don’t count monstrous shrine cause that was a rework). And our last boon was dark theory. Both of those perks came out March 2022 it’s 1 YEAR later and we haven’t gotten any new perks with them?
If you look at Hex and obsession perks they would get new ones almost every update with killers. But not these 2.
Scourge hooks I don’t think failed but it’s hard trying to come up with ideas to make these perks strong that they need only 4 hooks. Idk why we haven’t gotten more cause there very unique and cool to use.
Boons I think went back to the drawing board cause omg we haven’t even gotten a new one in a year. Dark theory and COH were just so badly designed that I think they were just scrapped all together. We might see boon changes this mid chapter but I think they need to rework boons to make them more fairly designed.
CoH is a good perk, but all other boons are useless. There is definitely opportunity for more good boon perks - devs just need some new ideas. Boons don’t necessarily need to be area of effect. Scourge hooks are fine.
Hex totems - now that is a failed concept (except Plaything which I think is actually pretty good).

The only way it will work is for queue times to get incredibly long. Very few people are willing to put up with this. You may be willing to wait that long in order to get a fair match, but the game would die very quickly as most aren’t willing to wait that long.
-
Sadako seems plenty powerful enough to me. Every time I face her in solid queue we usually get steamrolled

Survivors that stay at the exit gate zone for more than 30 seconds are prevented from exiting the trial ( like blood warden ) for the duration of 10 seconds and get the exposed status.
Other, better options: 1) don’t go to the exit gates if you know the survivors are there; or 2) don’t get upset about taunting in a video game

Then why it's so popular? This is the main question: if there are better perks out there, why most of the survivors out there will take this perk instead of choosing another exhaustion perk?
It’s popular because a lot of players run auto-DH scripts for a guaranteed 3rd health state no matter how much the killer tries to bait it out.

2 dud Killers in a row have really put a damper on the game. Really hope they get the next one right.
My vote would be for the dev team to take a nice long break from new content and work on game health. Game already has too much content IMO. But we know that will never happen

We can’t even get basic graphics settings in this game, so I wouldn’t count on any new audio settings being added

The same 3 gen strats where a killer hold the game hostage for an hour, the same gen rush strats where SWF bring the most busted toolboxes, medkits, perks and addons. Every match is the same boring thing. I'm losing all hope. How can I get more faith in this game? I'm about to give up.
If you’re not enjoying the game, I would recommend taking a long break. I often get frustrated with the game and with the devs’ decisions, but I still have fun in enough of my matches to keep me coming back. Fortunately I haven’t seen a 3-genning SM or Knight recently, so I hope people who were using that play style have gotten bored with it already.

1 person disconnected, one died, then we, 2 survivors, were hiding for 20 minutes but it was a streamer, who then threatened we would get banned for "holding game hostage" only because we weren't caught the whole time and how it "affected" his streaming process.
You were holding the game hostage and I hope you get banned. What you did drives me absolutely nuts when I play killer and BHVR need to add a mechanic to the game to make it impossible for people like you to waste killers’ time.

So, just wanted to say good job. Let's not have every topic on here be negative!
I agree I’m very glad they reversed that terrible change. Hopefully this is a lesson learned for the devs to quit making changes to elements of the game that people are not complaining about, but given the long history of this I am not optimistic that it’s the last time.

I don’t think anybody should be banned for abusing bugs that the devs refuse to fix. Devs need to fix their game, not put the burden on players.

Yes BHVR acknowledged it but are they going to do anything about it? The way they handled it last time was they just ignored the problem until the DDOSers got bored and stopped doing it for a while.
-
My guess is that what the OP is experiencing is what many other players experience in an effectively non-functioning SBMM matchmaking system. Many of us know based on direct experience that there is a huge range of skills levels that we get matched against. This is because of the strong bias of the matchmaking system to prioritize queue time over fairness.
Devs can say all they want about how the system is supposed to work, but we all have our experience to prove that it effectively doesn’t. If the system really does work, show us the data - let us see the MMR of everyone in the match to prove that the matchmaking is fair! I think the reason that BHVR won’t show us the MMR data is because it would prove what we all know from experience - that the SBMM system is at best wildly inconsistent.

The new maps with random ######### everywhere are just totally out of control. Unplayable for killers like Blight and Hillbilly. Even as Bubba I am constantly colliding with objects. It’s clear that there is very little consideration of these killers by the map design team

There hasn't been a thread on noed in like a million years, so let's make one. Yeah let's do it me and you. What's your opinion on noed? Do you hate it? Do you love it? Are you indifferent about it? What are your noed hot takes? I wanna know all these things.
I personally don't care too much about noed, I barely use it. I'd rather make room for more useful perks, I think the last time I used noed was in my first 20 hours in the game. Haven't touched it since then. Some people will ridiculously defend this perk, and others will act like this perk is worse than anything else. So yeah, screw dead head threads, let's get the noed threads going baby.
NOED got nerfed pretty hard and I rarely see it anymore. Survivors definitely don’t count on it being in the match like they used to before the nerf. Killer seems to usually get some value out of it when it’s used, so I’m a bit surprised about how rarely it’s used. I personally never use it because I don’t want to rely on an end game crutch (although I’m not a very good killer player so I could probably use it)
-
It says an awful lot about the power of the top survivor perks vs the top killer perks when you look at the relative usage rates. Survivors have two above 30% while the most-used killer perk is only 23%. That is not balanced at all. Either give killers a couple god perks or nerf DH and WOO to make them less OP. Even looking at the top 5-6 perks, it’s very clear the top survivor perks are way more overpowered than the top killer perks and the usage rates prove that.
Note - I love WOO and use it on every survivor build. Please don’t change it :)

Firstly survivors complain about camping and tunneling and get basekit perks for it. Then about slugging and make the devs consider a basekit Unbreakable. Then gen regression (which the killer earns by downing and hooking survivors), and a lot of good gen regression perks get nerfed. Now the new complaints are about 3 genning. What do you want the killer to do lol? Not use any strategy what so ever and mindless chase random survivors for hooks and lose? The excuse is "30 min games aren't fun" but guess what, you aren't entitled to 10 min matches, or the killer making the match more fun and easy for you. And the worst part is, the 3 gen rage quits will be rewarded by some killer nerfs, again.
P.S Yes it's an "us vs. them" post. Anything else you notice other than that Sherlock?
I play both sides about equally and I have no problem with camping or tunneling. At least those don’t draw out the match infinitely and they only make the match miserable for the player who is camped or tunneled. The three gen strategy makes matches miserable for everyone and can draw out the match to an infinite amount of time when the killer refuses to chase or hook survivors. I’m fine with all killer strategies except the “no-chase 3-gen”

Remember when BHVR said they were going to fix the bloodwebs so it wouldn’t be a soul-crushing, you’ll-never-get-those-hours-of-your-life-back slog?
The devs need to stop promising anything. Just don’t mention any new ideas or things that are coming Soon(TM) on Twitter or the devs notes or anywhere. Maybe once in a while we’ll get a pleasant surprise when an improvement is made instead of being constantly disappointed.
I guess they did deliver on their promise to reduce the grind, so there’s that.

That’s similar to the survivor build I prefer as well. I love Fogwise in solo queue, as it helps me be more efficient on gens and get a head start on leaving the area if the killer is headed my way. I usually prefer Lithe to Sprint Burst. Instead of the “utility” perks you mention, I like to bring CoH. So many survivors don’t bring any way to heal themselves, I usually see my team get some value out of it.
-
@TigerSnake said:
You have every right to complain about long matches against our favorite boring ass killer, but you guys saying that guarding 3 gens in close proximity to one another needs to be removed need to knock it off as what you’re asking for is literally impossible. There’s no viable way to prevent gens from spawning close together or implementing some other system to kill the strat without severely unbalancing the game entirely. And don’t say it’s a perk problem either. 3 gens have been viable without CoB/OC for all these years, and will continue to flourish with other perks, including weaken versions of the two I mentioned. What you guys should be asking for is reworks to SM as this is literally the problem here, especially when she literally cannot do anything else but guard a 3 gen. Even Knight’s power has more strength to it where 3 genning is not the only option for him.
I think most people complaining about the 3-gen situation realize that it’s a perk and a killer design problem. But it’s a game design problem too. The ability for either side to draw out the game to infinite duration should not exist. There needs to be a mechanic to punish killers who refuse to chase/down survivors and there needs to be a mechanic to punish survivors who refuse to touch gens. People have been asking for these changes for a long time but devs have not prioritized

Yeah I’m not sure where these mythical unbreakable 3 gen games or 3 gen games that last an hour are as I never see them. I play way more than the average person and solo queue at that and these games are nearly non existent. I can’t even remember the last game I lost because of a 3 gen.
I think people lost a lot of matches that have a 3 gen because they or their team are playing bad and instead of taking accountability for skill issues or bad choices it’s easier to just blame a 3 gen or gen kick perks as why they lost.
This mythical 3 gen issue is honestly a boogieman that doesn’t realistically exist. It can happen here and there, not saying ever, but rare enough that it really isn’t a problem.
“Mythical boogie man”. OK. So I guess the huge numbers of people complaining about this (including myself) are just liars?

yes 100 percent your first 2 sentences...survivors only make the game as long as they want them to be. attack the problem headon...how is it different from previous gen rushing strategies?
if people want to have fun looping/bodyblocking/saboing/flashlight saving then that is on them
i would like to see gen rush perks stacking like hyperfocus with tenacity to be looked at as well
“Survivors only makes the game as long as they want them to be”. In other words, if you don’t want to be stuck in an infinitely long 3-gen standoff match, you either have to give yourself up to the killer or DC.
ok got it - thanks for the helpful advice

Like since the 6.1 update we have received so much content that created the 3 gen discussion that is happening now, like kinda wished we knew if it was intentional by the devs or an accident.
Like, let's review things:
- Eruption and overcharged get buffed while POP and Ruin get nerfed and COB remain unchanged
- Knight gets released with a power designed to manage multiple tasks making him strong at 3 gen strats and holding the game
- No where to hide and Potential energy get released, a perk that synergies very well with 3 gen strats and a perk that tries to counter 3 gen strats
- New maps that got reworked or changed gen spawn logic that created really tight 3 gen RNG or even guaranteed 3 gen spots
- SM gets released with a power to control areas of the map with information and delay survivors, her kit almost seems designed with this play style in mind
Like, yes Eruption got nerfed in latest patch, the HUD also helps, so i think the devs seem to realize this is a thing.
I am sure all the videos showing 40 min matches because of their new killers also doesn't sit well with them. But so many things that piled on.
I really wished to know if it was intentional or not, i guess we will never find out, just wait and see how this is going to evolve
as someone who plays both sides, I understand why killers do it. When you face a coordinated SWF with survivors who know how to loop well and abuse broken maps, there’s really not much else you can do to stand a chance of of winning.
I watched the recent Scott Jund video about it and he made a good point. Three gen strategy has always been a thing and all killers can use it effectively, but most killers have other tools and strategies available. Now we have two new killers in a row that are especially good at the three gen strategy and that’s basically the only thing they are good at.
-
@cannonballB said:
So survivors hate camping and tunnelling. OK. Now survivors hate 3genning. How is it killers are supposed to kill?
These are the very best ways for a killer to get 3/4K.
I don’t mind camping and tunneling. I shamelessly use those tactics myself when I play killer. I do hate deliberate three genning because it there is literally nothing the survivors can do about it except be forced to bring three-gen-breaking perks into every match and also play SWF on comms so you can perfectly coordinate your timing the get that last gen done. If you don’t do those exact things, you have three options: 1) DC; 2) play an infinitely long match; or 3) sacrifice yourself to the killer and they probably won’t hook you so you have to go through endless cycles of being downed and healed until you finally bleed out.

with the new hud helping out solo survivors not become potatoes (at lower mmr) and be more efficient in the trials will the data show that survivors still need to be buffed? on the survivor side i can still see a basekit ds/kindred still being added

after analyzing all the data and reading all the feedback from the community, the devs will ultimately reduce the number of puzzle boxes you have to try to remove Pig’s reverse bear trap.

If it’s solo queue and you’re not on comms, how is the survivor supposed to know which gens are being worked on?

my guess is that a lot of players are really not interested in playing a 45-minute slog-fest trying to crack a three gen. Repair, get hit, run to other side of map (because killer won’t chase outside of 3-gen), get healed, repeat. I’ve been in matches like this and they make me want to hit the “leave match” button

- Doing your job as a survivor is easy and almost relaxing.
- Looping killers is not difficult. Wasting 40-60 seconds of the killer's time is a little too easy.
Overall I think I've had more enjoyment playing survivor. Probably because I'm not having to tryhard and control 4 other players, just the one.
Nothing really beats the rush of beating a 4v1 but survivor is actually pretty fun.
Any other Killer mains find this to be true for them?
I have played both sides roughly equally for a while but when I started playing the game it was mostly as killer. Completely agree that playing survivor is far more relaxing. However, all it takes it a streak of bad solo q games with terrible teammates who go down immediately or refuse to touch gens to drive me back to killer

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve never seen this before. In the past (before the role incentives), killer queue times would be super long even during the evenings when typically more survivors are playing. Today I played a match in the afternoon when normally it would be a longer queue time for killers and I was surprised to see +100% BP and instant queue time for killer.
