What do you do against a team that just runs to the opposite side of the map and heal? and if you chase to get a down you lose?

Well just practice makes perfect. You could take up Leatherface or the Hillbilly and get good with the Chainsaw. Then you only have to hit them once until your Looping skills are down. You can likewise play the Shape like me. Myers can Tier up to Insta-Down. Legion is fast and slows them down even as he can keep up and cross the map really fast.

  • I'm excited, having fun even. Go figure.

    Perk treat - SWEETDREAMS

    Blighted Jack - ETERNALBLIGHT

    Dwight Crow -

    Trap O' lantern -

Event to redeem these codes ends at November 4th 11 AM ET.

    Very cool.

Why would they have to bother reading the threads to call you a suck-up? You're being a white knight because you'd rather tell blindly tell people to stop playing if they don't like it instead of looking at what they've done and not feeding BHVR's ego. You obviously don't understand what an event is either, so there's no point in explaining.

Because, technically, to be a "suck up" I would have to be saying things I believe they would want to hear in a place they are likely to hear. This thread is 1) Not one of those places they are likely to hear me, and 2) what I have to say is unlikely to be anything they want to hear. I tell people who are unhappy to vote with their wallet and leave. I'm sure they would prefer you to just vent like a smokestack here and continue to play. I tell people I don't buy cosmetics and don't see why you do. I'm sure they prefer people who do buy cosmetics.

So in short, I'm not a shill, a suck up, or an apologist. I'm just a pragmatist who accepts that free things are great when you get them, but you should never come to expect them.

    ?

Nice bait I guess? I already said lots of times that I could care less about cosmetics.

And holy heck, you really are a suck-up. They don't control our lives, and we don't have to thank them for being our lord and letting us talk. We stay here because we love the game they've created, and we're mad because they're digging the game into the ground. You do know that, right?

The only reason the forums were created was to interact with the community, as well as get feedback and get involved. By your logic, THEY should feel vindicated that we grace them with our presence, we're progressive and put up with their mistakes/changes, and we use their forums instead of hating on them through reddit (where they can't delete/move anything they want). That's not how this works, as much as you'd like it to be through your narrow view.

Without a community, there's no profit to be made. They're ruining their own profits while ruining their game at the same time.

Somehow I suspect the company understands this community better than you or I do. If they did not, they would not still be here. And for me to "suck up" you would have to assume that they even bother reading these threads. I'm pretty sure they wrote this one off after the first post. I know I would have.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1695320#Comment_1695320

Now you're either trolling or thinking irrationally. Where do you think we'd be without negative feedback? No where, as the game would've just died due to no one acknowledging the issues.

You're the one showing negative feedback towards the community that wants more than just a few pay-to-get cosmetics like they've been getting every year.

Do you really want me to lecture you and explain the difference between a negative and positive feedback loop? Somehow, I doubt it. What I am going to point out is this tantrum of a thread isn't going to have the effect you want. You want to vent, well you are venting on the company's dime. That is another freebie they are giving you even as we type. You should feel vindicated that they are so progressive that they are willing to pay for you badmouthing them. They will even leave these posts up for posterity should anyone want to go back and look at them later.

To be irrational, I would have to be emotional about this in the first place. I'm not; I'm a cold fish when it comes to this topic. Let me give you some context that I think will help:

    1. I don't care about cosmetics.
    2. I don't buy cosmetics.
    3. I will happily take and use any free stuff they give me.
    4. The basic game was cheap.
    5. The DLC I've bought so far were all cheap.
    6. There are constantly sales going on that are 60%+ off.
    7. There is no competitive edge to any of the cosmetics.
    8. All Perks introduced by new DLC eventually show up on the Shrine.
    9. We don't pay a subscription fee.
    10. The company literally loses money on me, as I'm an extremely thrifty shopper.

Oddly enough, you are exactly the kind of customer they want, i.e. someone who simply must have whatever new "Skin" is available for your favorite Killer, or new outfit for your Survivor build. Getting this junk is so important to you that you explode in anger if you don't get the fix. Well you know, the first taste is always free. This is a business. You are demanding they give you free stuff. I'm simply pointing out that their very business model is based on selling you the stuff you want for free. Which of us do you truly think sounds more rational?

  • @RockoRango said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1695306#Comment_1695306

Your priority is clearly just you and what you do with your wallet, while mine is geared towards actually supporting the community and thanking them for keeping the game going so they don't leave.

You don't understand why the community wants to be rewarded and to have fun without paying for a useless pass? Fine, but don't call people entitled for wanting that from a game they've already bought.

I would point out that negative feedback loops like this don't benefit the community at all. They divide it and give bad press to anyone new coming in here. It sets up a notion that it is an us versus them. If you cared one bit about the community you would be creating a positive feedback loop. :)

So it's entitled to want to participate in a yearly event, in a game we already paid for, without paying more money for stupid cosmetics? They're supposed to be for fun and rewards. If you're fine with shelling out money like a leeching consumer no one cares, but you're calling people who are asking for an event not to be a cash-grab entitled.

You have the mindset of an EA Marketing employee.

You get to participate in the event for free. You are under no obligation to buy the cosmetic nor does it provide any competitive edge. I simply don't see the disconnect. Our priorities are clearly very different.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1695200#Comment_1695200

Sorry, shill is probably not the right word to use.

Either way, having access to everything a game has to offer that you have to pay an initial fee for is not and should not be an issue, outside of actual DLC, which should come with all of the cosmetics that are tied to said DLC.

Sorry that I enjoy actual good practices for the consumer.

No, it was not the right word. If you wanted to be insulting you could have called me a "suck up" or an "apologist" and at least had one leg to stand on. What would be most correct is to call me a pragmatist or a realist. This is a business and the business model is selling the game, DLC, and cosmetics. They already give free stuff away, which apparently has created unrealistic expectations in some of you. Since joining this game, I've been given a massive amount of BP for free. When I've encountered issues, so far, I've always been compensated.

I understand that you are let down. I'm just suggesting that perhaps your expectations are unrealistic. None of us, outside the company, know what kind of bills they pay, their costs, or the state of their books. I think it is unwise to make assumptions one way or the other. But even if they were Scrooge McDuck and had a vault full of money, it doesn't change the fact that they are not obligated to give us anything for free.

You're pretty salty that I disagree with you, how quaint.

I've been playing this game since launch, and never have I seen them be more ridiculously greedy than right now. It costs them virtually nothing to repeat a past event compared to, let's say, FIXING THE GAME. I've never been mad about not getting a free skin that does literally nothing, I'm mad that they're disregarding their community and being incompetent. Believe whatever you want, though.

I'm not salty at all; I'm laughing at you. I find this entire thread pathetic. I find undeserved entitlement, which is rampant these days, to be one of the funniest things under the sun. I feel the obligation to point this out, so that nobody confuses my silence for agreement. I'm here to play the game. Free stuff is great when it happens, but coming to expect it is just ungrateful at worst and unrealistic at best. If you want something, buy it. If you aren't happy, you move on. It really is as simple as that.

  • @RockoRango said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1695187#Comment_1695187

That's an extremely stupid way to look at it. These events don't cost jack to make other than time, and I don't count courtesy events towards people's salaries. The difference between you and I is that I'm not a suck-up to a company that is likely worth nearly $1B at this point.

Well you know, I guess "Life is like a box of chocolates and all that." You can vote with your wallet at any time. You know where the door is located. The only question is how dramatic and "me... me... me... me..." you are going to be on the way out. When I eventually finish playing DbD, I will quietly exit stage left. I can only imagine how unhappy you must be that Santa Killer didn't bring you a new free make-believe outfit to wear. It must have been a tragic morning, and the very definition of first world problems.

    *I'm mad because I didn't get a free make-believe outfit.

  • @RockoRango said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1695141#Comment_1695141

Releasing things for free doesn't use up resources, and is therefore not a loss. It's only a loss if they look at it from the company standpoint: "If we're not selling it, we're losing money."

We paid for the game, and we expect to be treated more like a community than trash that will eat up anything.

What planet do you live on? On Earth, free stuff, even simple cosmetics, require man-hours to create, resources to pay for man-hours, and so on. There isn't a Cosmetic Fairy that zaps them into existence. The difference between you and I is that I realize they are a business, and their business is selling us the game, DLC, and cosmetics. Every free thing they give us undercuts the same type of thing they could sell.

  • @NomiNomad said:

Yesterday, I made a post saying while the Dev's sometimes make dumbass decisions, we should still appreciate what the game has managed to do.

Yeah, not anymore. BHVR, you've surprised me yet again. Let's recap.

    You BUY this game.

You have to BUY all the DLC's, and even if you don't it takes hours and hours to grind for a single character - and that's not including the licensed characters.

You have to BUY any of the usual cosmetics in the store.

You have to BUY what is by far the worst implemented Battlepass I've ever seen, but with by far the worst skins they've made in awhile.

So with how much of this game you have to outright buy you're telling they couldn't manage to give two free skins?

TWO? I know this probably didn't come from the Dev's themselves and probably some higherup, but it doesn't change the fact that somebody thought this was a good idea. Who in their right mind would look at this event and think it's fine? But hey, at least we get a pretty cool Legion skin, right?

I try to at least think about why they do things, but this is nothing but pure unadulterated greed. I can't think of another single reason they would do this. The worst thing is, they probably won't say a single, goddamn thing. And if they do, it'll be a measly little bull apology without doing anything to change the ######### thing they've done. Yeah, time to quit again - and this time I don't know if I'm coming back. Along with this, the incredibly bad optimization for consoles - BHVR has somehow become one of the worst, most money grubbing companies I've seen in a while. Hopefully, BHVR realizes just what the hell they are doing to their game, but somehow I doubt it.

I want to start by saying I am not employed by BHVR, nor is any member of my family (or any of my friends for that matter). I want to remind everyone that they are a business. Selling us the game, DLC, and cosmetics is their only revenue stream. The fact that they give us anything free at all is a net loss to them. They give free stuff out frequently enough. I play a lot of video games. This one is probably the least expensive one. I have to wonder about the entitlement I hear in posts like these. The ironic thing is BHVR is also paying for this very Forum which you are complaining about them on. Crazy right?

I want to remind everyone that you do not pay a subscription fee. You bought the game but pay nothing for the upkeep of the servers, the site, etc. Once you buy in you can play for as long as the game exists. Nothing requires you to buy new Killers, new Survivors, or all these cosmetics. Do you want to know how many cosmetics I've bought? Well, you probably don't care, but I've bought zero. I don't buy make-believe outfits. I'll take and use the free stuff. I'm not, however, going to complain about them not giving me enough free stuff.

Take a step back, take a deep breath, and think about this situation and your expectations. They are not reasonable.

I would like to have everyone know that I DID QUIT on this website due to one of the moderator problems being an issue, also I'd like to point out that I am not attacking nor relating any sort of deceitful intent. First, I notice when the Silent Hill collaboration dropped in Dead by Daylight, Hacker and Exploiters are making an appearance more often and as Cross-play began, it got worse from that point on. Second, I have no reason to lie or have any argument from anyone that may choose to doubt me or belittle about this because I'll post my experience as a Killer main as the Plague https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DPJ-yYmiW8 here, if you still choose to disbelief it or think I edited, your choice and this continues as I keep playing through each session, it does not change with Gen Rush, Hit Absorb, Instant Heal from Dying to Healthy state, Dying State Warp, Lag Switch, Healthy Sprint Speed while in a Wounded State, and I can carry on with this. Third, as of now with my Friend and myself, I grow tired of this and does not matter how many times I report this problem because it does not stop, therefore I even suggested it in the PS4 community and the reply I receive is that it is pointless due to how bad the game is over run with unfair players and it is enough for me to call this video game a waste of time, although I love the concept of Dead by Daylight and the whole point with the lore and game. Over all, TO THE DEVELOPERS - You are aware of what is happening and we are in the year of 2020, one of you stated the purpose of the game is to be frustrating, although the frustration is not the game itself, it is the type of players that is running in your game, therefore allowing these type of players to play however they want freely . . . . it does say and show the lack of competence and I support your game a lot till it caused nothing but grief and a waste of my time and my friends time. TO THE MODERATORS - I am not attacking and please do not remove my thread, because I am not swearing nor placing any name specifically, a group yes, but no NAME. thank you for reading~

The Moderators here are pretty patient and forgiving. Given the amount of bile and whining they have to sift through every day it is a wonder anyone would want the job. In fact, I'm pretty grateful for the odd edit they have applied to my own posts. It doesn't strengthen your argument by alluding to the fact that you have had trouble with them. It is kind of weird and off-putting. It has nothing to do with your complaint.

In regards to hackers, nobody likes them. They are a sickness and represent the very worst of humanity. I feel the need to correct you on something though. The DEV don't willfully allow hackers to bedevil the game. Just like the rest of the world, the DEV do the best they can to minimize the influence of hackers. There is no conspiracy to allow bad sports and cheats to ruin your day. I'm positive that stopping people from hacking the game is far more important to the DEV than it is to you. Hackers hack into systems; the problem is right there in their name.

    This is what you said:

    1. I quit before because the Moderators were mean to me and did their job.
    2. There are hackers in DbD.
    3. The DEV are incompetent because they allow hackers in DbD.
    4. Moderators please don't remove my post insulting the Dev and saying obvious and/or silly things.
    5. Thank you for reading.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that English is not your first language. I'm not attacking your lack of grammar and punctuation to be mean. I'm simply stating that if you want your comments on this (or any) forum to have more impact, you will need to get someone to help you smooth out some of the rough edges. If what you write causes a literal headache in the people who try to get through it, you are losing your audience. This advice is given without ulterior motive or snotty intent. I just can't think of a more diplomatic way to say it.

I think the OP is talking about being the killer... I guess terrifying the killer would be interesting.

I know he was talking about the Killer. However, short of having a Perk to allow the Killer to see in dark conditions (there is one) they also get the same lighting conditions.

Why does every graphics update have to mean you cant see sh*t as killer? I just played several games on Macmillan and I cant see a god da*n thing. Why can't we update the graphics and keep the same brightness? Is your solution to make the maps so dark so people think they look better than they do so they can't see where you cut corners on design?

I suspect it isn't about graphics so much as it is game play and horror theme. It is supposed to be dark and hard to see. It is supposed to be spooky.

Thanks! I just wanted to know it is possible. That means that should I break into 3 there won't be another quantum leap in difficulty. :) I've almost gotten to 3 so I know If I keep grinding I'll pull it off. Now can I grind my way down to 1 before Halloween.... I'm going to do my best. It is a relief to hear that it is possible. I'm not on your level but with enough curb-stompings, I'm bound to improve. :)

  • I really appreciate the feedback and help. I really wish I had Monitor & Abuse on him to throw in with Dead Rabbit. I have a Dragon's Horde of good Add-Ons but it seems like every fight is a Brutal or Displeased, with just a hint of wins to keep me in the Red. I don't remember the last time I fought a Solo. *Well in fairness... these could be Solos SO GOOD that they just seem like SWF. At this level it gets much harder to tell until I see them do something with impossible knowledge.

For some reason when killers dc randomly me and my other swf get the penalty ourselves for no apparent reason even tho its not me that disconnected.

secondly for how buggy and how much dbd can crash its kinda stupid to have a dc penalty. the amount of times ive gotten matchmaking banned for my game crashing is unreal.

Yous really need to worry about optimising the game as a whole before worrying about annoying ######### like dc penalties.

You know... have you considered that it might be YOUR system with the issues and not DbD? I've never had the game crash once, not in the entire time I've been playing. Perhaps you should get your issues sorted before inconveniencing other people by playing and then crashing. Of course, it is even more likely that you are just trying blame all your disconnects on "crashes' now that the penalties are in place.

Why ghostface? I mean jumpscares can be annyoing but at least the games against him are scary and spooky.

Can't decide between Hag, Doctor and Freddy.

Because Ghostface, more than any other Killer, attracts a particular type of creepy Player. They take him because he can tea-bag. I've also run into more face camping Ghostface than any other Killer. I know not ALL Ghostface Killers are habitual tea-baggers and face campers, but enough of them I run into have spoiled the brand for me.

As i play a killer. This game is amazing. However, as a survivor....... This game is so stupid. I cannot outrun a killer. I can BARELY hide from the killer. If i am hit... i def. cannot hide. On top of this.. what the fu** is up with killers that can knock me down with one hit?. Over and over. really starting to make me want to quit this game.

You need to reset your expectations. You are clearly operating under a couple of incorrect ones:

    1. You are not going to outrun the Killer. They are faster than you. You can evade the Killer by getting a head start or using terrain.
    2. Hiding from the Killer is a Skill that you hone over time. That is on you.
    3. Some Killers can knock you down with one hit. It might be a Power, an Add-On, and so on.

You will get better, or not. This is a 4v1 game. There are four Survivors against one Killer because you have to work together to get out.

  • My most common build is:

Iron Will, Calm Spirit, Spine Chill, and Self Care

  • I think a unique cosmetic you get when you hit the lowest rank of a Color might be nice... something distinctive for your Killer that says I hit Rank-1 once.... or I hit Rank 5 once.... etc.

  • No, I didn't just make it. You would have to go further back in the thread. I was answering someone else. It was a long post and I wanted to answer the statements in it one by one, in context.

  • @Mikerotch said:

Seems like the only hope is to use spine chill and pray you get enough time to hide.

I do run with Spine Chill and when I know I'm running against a Spirit I move the second it flashes, just abandon the area. I'm almost always long gone before she phases in. Against her I NEVER commit to a Gen. Spine Chill is the light and the way. It says go, I go.

It is not helping at all, as it isn't addressing the issues that make people disconnect in the first place. People disconnect because survivors got nerfed and it is a pain to go against OP Killers who also happen to be toxic camper/tunneler players.

I completely understand people who choose to disconnect instead of wasting 20 minutes of their life to amuse a ######### killer player.

Let me put this in context for you. The Disconnect Penalties exist to discourage people from disconnecting. They are accomplishing that admirably. The issues you are bringing up, and they are YOUR issues, are irrelevant to this conversation. We all deal camping, tunneling, slugging, and the dreaded Mori. Most of us play through and still manage to advance. You have three choices.

    1. You can keep disconnecting when you want to throw an immature fit, and eat those penalties.
    2. You can walk away from the game and vote with your wallet.
    3. You can do what the rest of us do, i.e. play through like a mature adult and get good enough that these things don't bother you.
  • @Wesker said:

I'm making a list of the killers who are literally being killed by this perk (if used from guys with some brain cells)

    -Freddy: in dream world you have no terror radious so this perk works as a mindgame sniper while running tiles;

    -Deathslinger: his stealth factor is cancelled by the perk, couple if the map is too big and... Well prepare vaseline;

    -Hag: Object let you know where she's placing traps, so taking profit from them become insanely hard;

    -Michael Myers (Evil Within II + Monitor&Abuse): forget your peek-a-boo strategy with EWII left at 99%;

-Monitor&Abuse users are generally ######### up against those who run Object.

The point is, what this perk does to these killers? 1. Gives massive informations of where you are and what you are doing, it completely SHUT DOWN Hag, Deathslinger, and Michael becouse of their lower TR and their playstyles involving around being sneaky: place traps in hidden spots/aiming gens from a certain distance/Come out from a corner with level III ready to pop. Object completely SHUT DOWN Freddy, who has no TR in Dream World, so this perk reads his aura everytime no matter how much he's close: this means that mindgaming loops is close to be.. Impossible. And everyone knows, despite Freddy has a solid arsenal after the buff, he's M1, so he relies a lot on the basic mindgames of M1 killers during chases. And at the end, it makes Monitor&Abuse less confusing for survivor. Simple: this perk shouldn't affect Terror Radious. *derpface*

I wouldn't go so far as you have, i.e. to say that it has destroyed these Killers. There is an issue with OoO but it has more to do with SWF than it does with the Perk itself. The Perk has been around a good LONG while and it has only become a problem as the SWF factor has increased. I think if the SWF was dealt with, by putting them in their own Que complete with some balancing agents specific to their Que, OoO would be fine. Until that happens, OoO does need another look because there are some Teams abusing the crap out of it. :)

My best advice is to tunnel the OoO user out of the game. Don't feel bad about it; don't hesitate. Just kill them quick. I play a lot of Spooky Myers so I'm more or less unaffected by the Perk. It actually helps me more than them. The Hag should take Hex: The Third Seal and go for the OoO immediately and injure them. As long as the Hex stays up, you have shut down OoO. The Hex is really underrated. Just make sure you hit everyone early and you shut down Kindred and so many other info Perks the Survivors use that there is general confusion. Kindred, for example, has become a staple and without it the Survivors really have to work (or the SWF have to talk their friends in) to locate the people you slug. First time it happened to me I was dumbfounded.

I already regretted what I threw back at you when I woke up this morning, I wasn't too kind as well. As a mostly solo I also hate when my teammates give up in my matches, so to not show the same respect myself is hypocritical and I deeply regret it.

I'm sorry for being cold towards you; you did try to throw some tips my way, which is all I was asking for.

Cool beans. Hopefully we will be fighting in the trenches against some Killer sometime, or against one another for some good games. It is bound to happen at some point. Me, I'm racing a fast approaching Halloween. I don't want to let Big Daddy Myers down, and want to reach Rank-1 before that happens. Advancement is down to a crawl. Against Red Rank Survivors and Red Rank SWF I'm lucky if I hold my ground rather than lose a pip! The struggle is real.

I did face a Spirit today and accidentally kind of verified some advice another person in this thread gave. I was doing figure eights in a jungle gym and retracing my own scratch marks. Every time I did this, I would wait a second till she was out of sight and them walk shortly to get behind terrain long enough for her to come around or phase jump and continue following. The second she did I would beeline straight away from the jungle gym. It worked most of the time. Kind of like the Nurse, the Spirit wants to use her phase jump, rather than run you down like a normal M1 and that is where I found I could beat her in the loops. All that being said, I still just try to hide and seek her as much as possible. I'm a subpar Looper and leave that to the Pros.

  • "I have no idea what makes you say that SWFs never remain casual. It also doesn't make any difference how long a SWF plays together, really. Either you're a good player and can call out information well, or you're not. Either that's something you like to do while playing in SWF, or it isn't."

Experience, direct and firsthand both as a Survivor in a SWF and as a Killer who fights them daily, gives me the knowledge to say this. Practice makes perfect, and Survivors in a SWF get better with each match. Experience aside, this is also commonsense. The fact that you want to pretend it is either there at the start or it isn't makes me wonder about your motives.

"This is extreme exaggeration. Object by itself gives you more info than a typical SWF would (with the drawback of being terrible in solo queue, but still)."

No, it is not an exaggeration. Every Player in a SWF using the 5th Perk (Comms) has all the information provided by his/her teammates as if they had the Perks themselves. This allows them to maximize information gathering Perks. So instead of just having four Perks, they each have a bonus of any other information gathering Perks held by their buddies. On top of that there is the interactive, real-time updates on where the Killer is currently located, if the Killer is setting traps, which Generators are near completion, and so on, etc. Likewise, there is the instant lowdown on a Totem spotted that someone cannot reach (for whatever reason) which can be handed off to a teammate by just telling them. When the Hatch becomes visible, and one person spots it, they all will share that too. The now infamous OoO is particularly useful to a SWF on the right maps where the "Spotter" can call out generalized areas of the map (or specific) by terrain or sometime something as simple as "he is upstairs" or he is "downstairs". Are you picking up what I'm putting down. Exaggeration? Hardly.

"What makes you say that? I often play in two or three-man SWFs and this is something that we absolutely never do. It's not advantageous to the group to let your teammates die unless it's like a basement hook / NOED situation."

I've seen this firsthand as the Killer and had it happen to me multiple times. My own group, when we were doing SWF had to stop what we were doing when we realized this was happening on an unconscious level and make sure that we started to include the Red Shirt as an equal. More to the point, I've been talking to and listening to a GROWING number of Solo players complaining about this very thing. Perhaps the most telling is nobody works that hard to get the Red Shirt down before they go into phase two (if at all).

"Splitting the game into two separate queues for solo queue and SWF would kill the game. Killers would never want to play in the SWF queue or, if there were an incentive to play against SWF, they would only do so while bringing their Iri Head / Infantry Belt / Ebony Mori and the like. I'm also just against changing the game balance such that SWFs need to be communicating well and sweating their balls off in order to do well. Many SWFs do not do that, and will instead perform poorly because they play too altruistically and will have a wider range of skill levels in their squad. Punishing people for playing with their friends is just going to kill the game."

I hear this last ditch defense often, and it has no validity. We have no idea what it would do. People always say this whenever ANY changes happen and the game is still here. If I had a nickel for every time someone has said "this will kill the game" or "this is killing the game" or "I think DbD is dying" I would be a very wealthy man indeed. I might actually buy some cosmetics. Judging by past evidence, no, it would not kill the game. In fact, it might actually revitalize it with Solos being able to play without being strangled and not getting run off, and eventually graduating into their own SWF. Nobody is talking about punishing people who play with friends. We are talking about balancing it. It is a competitive edge, and it needs to be compensated.

"Most balance issues that exist with SWF should be addressed by MMR. If you sweat like crazy in a premade of good players, you'll just be matched up with a disproportionate amount of god Nurses and Stridor Spirits."

No, they will not be addressed by the MMR. Why? Because the MMR is a matchmaking system that cannot measure the impact of the 5th Perk (Comms). That is something entirely outside the game. If a SWF is not somehow marked and known to the system, it cannot compensate. The only way for the MMR to take note and address that is if Teams are somehow registered, recognized, and there can be matched as a GROUP to the appropriate Killer. What you are saying is nonsense, and I think you know that.

See that’s something I will never understand. Why do most killers assume every lobby is a supposed SWF? because then what happens is they bring in op stuff like ebony moris, iridescent add-ons etc. and then turns out that they were all solo or at least just 2 of them. Then the cycle begins, because the killer assumed that they were SWF and went hardcore on them, then those survivors bring in keys, OOO, etc. Also yes, people feel DO feel like playing with your friends should be punished, specifically killer mains. They feel like it’s the nastiest sin you could do on this game.

Because as you advance through the Ranks, more and more of them are SWF. :)

  • @Babyyy_Boyy said:

If this option was implemented into the game do you realize how many Killer mains will opt out of SWF lobbies so they can get easy games and easy kills? Geez, I sure wish there was an option for survivors to see what killer they’re facing before the match starts. Simply put, No. people on this game shouldn’t be punished for playing with friends. If you’re having trouble with SWF’s then bring in OP add-one or something idk.

    1. They are doing that already, right now as we speak.
    2. Killers aren't a bunch of basement dwelling losers. They like a challenge.
    3. If the playing field is leveled (which putting SWF in their own Que allows) Killers will be happy to take them on.

Right now Killers scrutinize every Lobby. Some duck. Some just assume every Lobby is a SWF and use maximum force. They have to be safe than sorry. Nobody is talking about punishing people for playing with their friends. We are talking about having it done in a way that is fair to the Killer AND doesn't punish the Solos.

Not easy/hard to win, only fun or not.

Do you enjoy playing against SWF groups or you find playing against premades a miserable experience?

Would you like to know if you are or were facing one?

I would prefer to know going in, yes. Team play, i.e. Survivors using the 5th Perk (Comms), are not automatically good. What they have is a competitive edge over Solos and to some degree over the Killer. They have more information available to them than a combination of every single info Perk in the game. Just because they have the information doesn't mean they will use it correctly. At the beginning it provides only a little boost, but the longer a SWF plays together the more coordinated and tilted this advantage becomes. I've no doubt that most SWF start casual, but they never remain that way. It only takes five or six games of playing together before the transmission of information becomes efficient and the maximization of the advantage comes into its own.

Aside from the obvious boost it is giving the SWF over the Killer, there are other drawbacks. A 3-Person SWF tends to treat the Solo saddled with them as a Red Shirt (in the classic Star Trek vein) and thus will milk said person for points and let them die or sandbag them as necessary for the benefit of their group. Some SWF turn into Bully Squads, i.e. groups that have learned to maximize the advantage and go into games with the specific intent on making Killers have a bad time rather than to play the match. This, combined with the general stress involved in long, grinding matches against them, has led many Killers to dodge Lobbies where they even suspect there being a SWF. This in turn affects the Que for everyone.

The DEV have been attempting to offset the advantage of the SWF by adding more Perks to slow down the Gen-Rush or at least give the Killer the tools necessary to try. The problem is that this approach further strangles the Solos. Killers take every oppressive thing they can, because they must assume they are going to fight a SWF. Heck, I'd love to take a broader spectrum of builds than I do now, but I don't dare risk it. So the Solo gets the shaft again. Anything put into the game to counter the 5th Perk (Comms) hits the Solos three times as hard because they don't even have Comms. Around and around it goes.

My personal view is that Solo and Team (SWF) should be broken into two Ques. This can be done in a way that is not a bad thing, nor slow down Ques for anyone. It would even open up more monetary streams for the company. *Bear in mind that most people would play in both the Solo and The Team Ques from time to time. It would work like this:

    Solo Que:

    1. No more than two people may enter a Lobby together, as 2-Person SWF doesn't unbalance the game.
    2. All identifying information is hidden to prevent anyone for setting up Comms on the fly. It is only shown at the end of the match with Stats.

    Team Que:

    1. Teams must be either 3-Person or 4-Person, and will start the match the size they enter the Lobby together (no Red Shirt).
    2. Identifying information isn't hidden, because there is no need.
    3. An additional Perk slot is unlocked for Killers while taking on a Team in this Que.
    4. The Team will require one additional Generator to power the gates; thus, a 3-Person Team will still need (5) Generators, and a 4-Person Team will need (6). *This (and #3 above) balances things for these matches, and will not affect, obviously, the Solo Que.

    Custom Game:

This stays exactly as it is now, and already provides people a way to play a casual game among friends.

    --------------------------------------

If this was done, the following benefits would apply:

    1. The company would get a lucrative new line of cosmetics they could sell. Teams might want matching hats, jackets, tattoos, etc.
    2. Regular Teams would already be organized and setup for potential League play.
    3. The company would get another monetary stream in potentially organizing Tournaments with minimal fees.
    4. Solos can play without being strangled by the current situation.
    5. Many Perks which are currently somewhat unbalanced due to their design to limit the SWF could be tweaked since the balancing agents are built into the Que rather than the Perks.
    6. Killers can go into games without feeling the bait and switch. And believe me, Killers are more than willing to fight the SWF; we just want the playing field to be level.
    7. Killers could feel more free to use a broader number of Builds, and not bring a sledgehammer to every game (Solos will like this).
    8. The Ques for both, after the initial changeover would likely speed up a good deal.
    9. There would be fewer disconnects because some sources of the irritation which causes people to Rage quit would go down.
    10. Matchmaking could be more easily tweaked as it isn't trying to balance against a SWF variable that it cannot truly measure.

The truth is I could probably add a few more to this list, but ten seems like a good place to stop. It is my belief that eventually the Ques will have to be separated. I do not begrudge people wanting to play with their friends. I would be lying if I said I never was in a SWF. Of course I've tried it. It is my participation in a SWF, and seeing what it allows, that convinced me that there is an issue. At the start, I was like a lot of people who felt it just didn't matter that much. It matters.

So first what is the killer shack is that like the one little shack that has to basement in it or... Because the new offering that allows you to see the hooks or spawn the hatch in the Killers hatch thing is confusing. Second has anyone else noticed a decrease in killer points (haven't played survivor in a bit so I don't know if it's the same for them). I can get 4k and still have 3 gens u popped and still get like 18,00 points when I feel it used to be a bit more idk. Any else know what I mean?

Yes the Killer Shack (if there is one) is usually one small building in one corner of the map (positions vary). It often has the basement in it, but not always. The Killer shack always has two doors, one window and a single pallet (often called the God Pallet); it is quite possible to loop a Killer at the shack (with practice) 3+ times. Bear in mind I say with practice. Avoid dropping the God Pallet unless you really need it.

  • Thank you; I'm going to need it. I'm almost to Rank-3 (knock on wood) but the matches are just so hard at this level. I'm happy in matches where I just don't lose a Pip.

I lost connection multiple times and my wifi also drop so why do we not take off the timer again for the people having internet problems so we dont get band for two days

Because you are being inconsiderate in insisting on playing when you KNOW your internet is unstable. Sort out your problems and then come back. Every game you disconnect from is messing up the experience for FOUR other people. Fix your internet, or find a game that is less demanding of the resources you have.

I propose an idea, that every time you are hit by the killer you slow down. This is to give a killer a chance. Here are some ideas:

Across all ideas: You begin slowing down after your initial burst of speed to get away

1 You get hit, you leave blood like normal, but gradually slow down. An energy bar will show this effect.

2 You get hit and it works like being hit by legion, except across all killers.

3 It works like legion, except that you leave no scratch marks for 8 seconds.

You reset your energy if you get up to full health from a med kit.

The problem here, is that when people have the ability to run full speed after being hit, the killer might have absolutely no chance. If this is wrong, correct me, maybe I and others just need to learn our killers better.

Another idea is that all killers get more energy every time they hit someone, and their speed permanently increases, or it stays fast until all survivors have healed themselves 100%

Just trying to balance things, because survivors have all gotten so many abilities now, it seems to ME, and I could be wrong, almost impossible to get more than 2 survivors.

I don't think this is a good idea, at least not as a basic package. Killers are, in general, already quite a bit faster than the Survivors. Now I do see potential in this as a Perk for a unique Killer who uses poisons on his/her weapons. We could give the word "Toxic" a new, and actually useful purpose. See below:

    PERK: Toxic

The Dryad is poison. This beautiful spirit of the forest has come to hate all human life, and seeks to thin their heard. Her touch is soft and toxic. Her small size and beauty can throw one off when her strength is brutal and contact with her skin leaves welts and causes blood poisoning. Those hit by her weapons suffer Exhaustion for (15) seconds, or add (15) seconds to any Exhaustion timer already running. In addition, Survivors are slowed by 1/2/3% at Level-1, 2/3/4% at Level-2, and 3/4/5% at Level-3 until they have been fully healed.

Majority of swf gameplay is toxic! Why is this option a forced issue? Not just for killers but in solo player lobbies too. With a 2 or 3 man swf solo players are S.O.L to have decent matches. It should be an option if we want to play in these types matches. Issues will be wait times increase for swfs? So what. I don't think the wait times will be that long in solo lobbies if the option was provided. I think it would bring more of a balance to the game. Before you rant at me about swfs need this or that or that the game will lose players. So what. The game loses new players all the time because of the abuse feed to new players by swfs. The devs need to provide the option. How many new players will the game gain if new players were given a chance to like the game? Before being introduced to the swf gauntlet.

Because they haven't taken the next step of breaking Solo and Team play into two Ques. It is my opinion that this will be the eventual course of action as attempts to balance it the other way are simply too complicated and doomed to failure. It is the prevailing belief that if they TOLD Killers who was and wasn't a SWF that we wouldn't play them. I disagree, personally at least. I would play them. I just resent being kept in the dark at the same time as they tells us SWF isn't a competitive edge. If it isn't, why don't you let us know and make up our own minds?

I play SWF all the time and most Killers can recognize them pretty fast in the Lobby, and certainly from the coordination inside the match. I don't know about other Killers but I'm not constantly ducking Lobbies to avoid them. When I leave a Lobby it is generally because recognize someone I simply do not want to play with because of some previous Salt or hacks.

I feel the 3-Person SWF are the worst because they get a "Red Shirt," i.e. someone not part of their group and that poor soul rarely gets the same protection or help as the others. They see this person as a disposable asset, something they can earn points on and use to distract the Killer. I can't tell you how many times I've watched the Red Shirt die on the hook without a single attempt to save them while the SWF Gen-Rush. I wish this was an exaggeration.

The new stats posted by BHVR show that on average 0.16 gens are done per match. The stats are likely wrong, which means, that the kill stats are likely wrong too.

Why do i post this? Because people will now keep sharing the likely wrong stats and should know that the stats dont make sense.

How do i come to 0.16 gens on average?:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1687393#Comment_1687393

50627522 survivors died, 6765882 escaped. Total number of survivors is 57393404.

57393404 divided by 4 (because there are 4 survivors per game) now you have the number of games: 14348351

2272978 generators were repaired, source: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1687378#Comment_1687378

Now take the number of generators that were repaired 2272978 and divide it by the number of games 14348351

Now you get 0.158413.... so roughly 0.16 generators beeing repaired per game.

This dosent look like their stats are correct.

p.s. Thanks to @Madjura for first showing me the numbers.

The new stats are absolutely wonky in my opinion. Even in games I dominate, at least 1-2 Generators (at a minimum) go up. I'm not even sure Potatoe Games, i.e. games where the Survivors and Killers are Ranks 16-20 should even be taken into consideration of any stats. They are, after all, really just in an live tutorial.

I was just thinking about an alternate DBD. Built around horror movie kill rates, you might have someone survive every round maybe two. Most games would be a slaughterhouse. Survivors given massive bloodpoints for escaping because it is more difficult. The game being far more.brutal with execution being rampant. Marketed with the focus of desperate survival and terror. I just thought about it because halloween is a spoopy time of year and i love horror movies and stuff 😁

This would be an interesting option, but it would 100% have to have Bots as the Killers. The acrimony and hate directed at Killers would be treble what it is now. :)

  • My personal preference is to just run the Tombstone Piece, not use it all game, and when they are doing the Tea-Bagging thing at the gate I run up like I'm going to hit one out and suddenly they are stuck in my Mori-On-The-Run. They just thought I would hit them and they would fall into safety. It is always worth a laugh. It has also made the difference between getting and not getting a Pip once or twice.

Your best bet at countering Spirit is playing her and understanding how she thinks and what she would do in a situation!

Spirit is hated amongst the survivor community because she gives no feedback to survivor's! That is the purpose of Spirit, and sadly I'm a firm believer that Spirit is a product of what's wrong with looping because she flips the script on survivor's! Survivor's don't like guessing, but almost everything about killer is guessing!

You said concisely what I couldn't quite put into words. You can't play Aggro against her. In the case of Spirit, she is best fought by not getting into the chases to begin with, and if you do drag them out long enough to get her to try to phase on you (but don't fall for the fake) and then go a different direction based on the patterns you have seen her display. I could not agree more with you that the Spirit was crafted to throw a monkey wrench into the normal looping counter. There are lots of Killers now that are particularly adept at undermining (if not outright destroying) one particular counter.

The best way to fight the Spirit is full on hide and seek, evasion, and studying her pattern in the game. She will develop a flight path to try and look for the Survivors.
