"boggles the mind" Well then if you are such a god at this game why don't you explain how you "Mind game" her,? I bought into Scottjund's claim that she is uncounterable; that's why I just accepted I would die against her every time I faced her without really trying. I made this post to see if anyone besides the big names has something to help. Apparently you have found a way to "mindgame" her that isn't just taking a random guess, feel free to share it with us?

Clearly you can last at least a minute against Spirit the way you talk. How silly I must be, having so many hours and still not lasting longer than 20 seconds against one.

I never claimed to be a God at this game. I'm relatively new. I'm a Rank-4 Killer (Myers exclusive) and a Rank-8 Survivor. I do not have near the hours in the game that you have. The system has me at over a thousand but I think it is counting time where I'm signed into the game but not playing matches. I'd guess I have about 600-700 hours tops.

I fight the Spirit, statistically, about the same amount as anyone else. I don't usually have any problems in those matches. But then again, I don't mind fighting the Nurse either. My Achilles Heel is the Pig. I suck against her. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I just perform very poorly against Pig. I don't rage quit though. I think your admission of this behavior caused me to be a bit strident and harsh with you. I have very little patience for those who disconnect. I am digressing though, so I'll go back to the subject at hand.

You can't play Aggro against a Spirit. You need to take a page from Jake and Claudette types. As I said before, you Mind Game her in respect that you are predicting where she is heading and looking for the pattern in her patrols. She WILL have a pattern. It takes a bit of talent to use her power correctly and good map knowledge. The Spirit, when not in chases, is going to quickly conform to a repetitive pattern of flying around. Remember, she can't see Survivors while doing so. She is guessing where they are going to be, or using some Perk to hedge her bets. She only has so much time before the Haunting kicks her back out so she has to be very efficient in flight, and thus a pattern forms in every match. You can use that against her.

My Xbox Gamer tag is ExcelSword13, on which I have around 1100 hours clocked. My Steam name is ExcelSword, on which I have 695 hours. Feel free to search me on either platform, instead of just coming along and completely dismissing my whole post. I decided to ask for help because I thought perhaps some people would show a sense of community and offer tips to help other improve.

I am pretty much a killer main; that is where most of my hours are logged. I actually played a whole lot of spirit for the first half a year after she was released, and then put her down because I thought she was too strong. I admit I am not the best survivor and I mostly play solo as one. Believe it or not some people actually do have a limit on their abilities to learn completely on their own, so instead of being elitist maybe offer some actual advice?

I only started encountering Spirits frequently when I switched to PC this March, and while I think I am decent at looping other killers, I always tended to just accept my fate against spirit after hearing so many people say she has no counter. But this isn't a healthy way of improving so I thought perhaps I would see if anyone has ANYTHING to help last longer against her.

And I'm happy to eat crow and accept your word, although it still boggles my mind. I already posted you a link which will take you to some excellent videos which can explain her far better than I can in text. I've watched most of these myself. For what it is worth, my own experience against the Spirit is you Mind Game her. That's it. She is going to rush around the board invisible in her weird flying pseudo-teleportation going where she thinks people will be. Your problem is No Mither (which is crap). You make noise because you are injured. For the record, not all Spirits take Stridor. You have to get an idea where the Generators are and be aware she is going to run patterns, patrolling them in hopes of popping out thin air for a quick hit.

Diversions are useful. Noisy teammates are even more helpful. Since you play Killer, put that knowledge to use. If you would respond to something, assume that is where she is going.

  • Hrm. I'm torn. Look, there are only two alternatives here and neither of them is good. I think:

    1. You are lying about your nearly 1800 hours.
    2. Or, you are beyond help.

If you have that many hours invested in this game, you would not be asking for our help in this way. What you describe and how you say it makes me think you must be fairly new. If I'm right about that, why lie? There is no shame in being new and asking for help. I think, however, if you are telling truth things are far worse. I had a dog once and I paid money to have him trained by a professional because I couldn't do anything with him. The trainer refunded everything but the deposit and said, "some dogs can't be trained; your dog is one of those."

I'll go ahead an play the devil's advocate here. Just keep playing matches. Statistically you will get a match that doesn't have the Spirit in short order. I played something like twenty matches today and I didn't pull a single Spirit. With almost 1800 hours of experience, you should know that just going forward you will get a match without your nemesis.

is it me or has killer toxicity gone up since dc penalties are back im seeing way more tunneling/camping/face camping and just over all scummy plays is it cause you guys think survivors wont dc with penalties? i was in a game where i was tunneled off a hook downed before I could even get out of the unhook animation couldnt move yet and insta downed granted the dumb ######### who unhooked me didnt have BT but randos you can never trust and killers just take advantage of someone elses mistake on another survivor why punish the person fresh off a hook for a rando's stupidity its not enjoyable to be downed when you cant even move cause ur stuck in animation

I play Survivor and Killer and I've noticed no difference in Killer behavior since the penalties came back. The only change I've noticed is fewer people disconnecting.

What? I was simply saying if its REALLY an issue to troubleshoot first, giving benefit of the doubt. I'm all for the penalty its good. What are you on about?

I'm not giving the benefit of the doubt. This happens every single time the DC penalties get put back in place. Suddenly there are just tons of people saying that it isn't them disconnecting, it is the game crashing. The minute the penalties are taken out (usually because of some hacker) those statements mysteriously vanish. The benefit of my doubt died a LONG time ago. The vast majority of disconnects are because people are bad sports. The odd crash of the internet or a real life emergency is perfectly understandable. And if those things happen, a short ban isn't a problem because your already tied up.

Now if you have a PATTERN of regular, real life emergencies or your internet keeps going down, I suggest you stop playing until you get your affairs sorted. Insisting on playing when you have an unstable system, bad internet, or a constant stream of real life emergencies would make you an inconsiderate person, who is choosing to waste the time of other Players. Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

  • @tariousx said:

If people are genuinely crashing so much that DC Penalty is an issue, you need to troubleshoot everything on your end first before coming here making a "Remove" post. Check your net, check your ports, repair your game, reinstall your game. Stop dl-ing "Free" adult material via torrents... that ones a bit of a joke. But seriously there are so many other reasons that you could be crashing besides DEVS!!! I know console has had trouble but there is still things that you can check first.

DC Penalty is improving the quality of games.

So open a ticket or something or try some troubleshooting first, otherwise you'll come off as a flaming ragequitting addict coming up in here making these posts. And make sure you include what you have already tried, it can actually help people help you.

Care to revise your BS statement? It is amazing how much people are suddenly CRASHING all the time now that DC penalties are back. Strange coincidence. I've never had a single crash since installing this game. However am I bucking those odds. Quit disconnecting and play the game.

the percentage he gave is right from my calculations.

So we all know that the gap between solo and SWF is incredibly big right now.

And that one of the most important issues right now is to close that gap between those 2 in order to balance this game better.

Now let's asssume the devs somehow found a way to bring solo very closely to the level of SWF.

How would you realistically buff killers to balance that out?

I wouldn't. I think that is a backwards way of addressing the situation, and far more costly too. I would simply split Solo and Team Ques apart. The game could continue as balanced for Solo, fixing some recent Perks that got put in PRECISELY to deal with SWF Gen-Rush. Then I would balance the Team Que by requiring them one extra Generator to power the gates and unlock a 5th Perk for the Killers taking them on in that Que. To me, at least, it makes more sense to disrupt things the least. Attempting to increase Solos to match SWF will NEVER work, and in turn just means you have to try and balance the ENTIRE game all over to then up Killers.

My way deals with things in a clean, simple way without reinventing the wheel. It also opens up lucrative new monetary streams for the company, i.e. Team Cosmetics. I know me and mine want some jackets to wear in matches that say "Unhookers" on the back.

  • You get more points if you leave and let them get unhooked. The long and the short of it is that if you do the math, your advancement in BP and emblems is better if you don't just one-hook them all. Chances are if you got two in the basement once, you will catch them again anyway. If it were me, and I know it isn't some SWF and there is no Generator pressure, I'd go one out and patrol. In fact, I'd go out of my way to make sure I clear a path for them.

I think disconnecting should only give u 5 minutes instead of counting up from 5 to 15 u mad man

I think it should be a dynamic system where the number of disconnects you have in a row (without completing a full game without a disconnect) increases the penalty.

    1 Disconnect 5 minutes.

    2nd Disconnect 10 minutes

    3rd Disconnect 15 minutes

    4th Disconnect 30 minutes

    5th Disconnect 1 Hour

    6th Disconnect 1 Day

    7th Disconnect 1 Week

    8th Disconnect 1 Month

    9th Disconnect Permanent Ban

*Obviously nobody is going to get to really long bans without trying. Example: Doofus Player disconnects during a game. He gets a five minute ban. He comes back and does it again.... 10 minutes. He still has not learned his lesson... 15 minutes... and so on. All he has to do is complete ONE game without being... well... a Doofus... to reset the ladder.

  • Since my "long term" goal is to get to Rank-1 Killer as Myers (playing no other Killer) I take the good with the bad. There are always going to be setbacks. There is no point in taking them personal; you just see what you can learn from them.

  • The most annoying death I had was being slugged to bleed out. Please note that I do not mind being slugged, nor do I have a problem with bleeding out. Slugging is a valid tactic the Killer can use. Sometimes we bleed out while they chase other people or whatnot. That happens and that isn't what made this particular death annoying.

*I was the last Survivor. All the others were dead and gone. I got slugged near the gate and by a hook. The Killer (a Ghostface) could have simply hooked me OR waited the (60) seconds if he was worried about DS and then hooked me. He didn't do either of these things. He proceeded to use his Ghostface ability to tea-bag my face for the entire time while I bled out.

This is, in my opinion, a case of extremely bad sportsmanship. I think ti borders on taking the game hostage because he is not further his goals as there were no other Survivors, he wasn't breaking pallets for points, etc. He simply wanted to tea-bag for as long as he could. Most Killers are actually pretty good sports. I'm not sure why the few I run into that are not are almost always playing Ghostface. To some degree, I think having the "option" to tea-bag attracts the worst kind of people.

    I agree 100%

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/198221/remove-dc-penalty

I agree 100% I feel we shouldn’t be forced to play in boring matches. Yes I do understand that sometimes DC’s will ruin games but like you gotta understand the POV of both sides if your just on 1 side all the time you most likely don’t know what your talking about, instead of trashing one side you should try to understand both sides.

You aren't forced to do anything. If you cannot abide by the rules and play at the game is intended, you can hit the road at any time. But disconnecting is against the rules. These are rules you agreed to by the way.

  • @Primalux135 said:

    title

That is not an acceptable reason to disconnect. If you start a match, you finish it. End of story.

  • Since I play Myers exclusively until I feel competent with him, I prefer Hex builds which slow down the Gen-Rush and/or provide me with more information to find the Survivors faster.

  • For me it is grabbing people off Totems or Generators. I really love the challenge of sneaking up and pulling them.

pretty much, but i was not looking for advice how to perk a was just asking how you perk and share my own personal experience. sorry if that part was confusing.

    Ah, understood. :)

  • There is a lot of good advice and interesting builds here and on Youtube, etc. However, it is important to take your own personal play style (weaknesses and strengths) into account. Some Perks, not matter how Meta, will not work well for you based on how YOU play. Lean into your strengths and avoid a Perk that rewards play that you are terrible at. Does that make sense?

  • @Angel_Heart37 said:

Just wanted to inform you about since the recent update of being unable to dc when getting annoyed with certain players came into affect, There are so many Killers Camping Hooks and tunnelling hooked survivors, I love this game and very addicted to it, But due to the Killers always Camping and Hook tunnelling It's become that much of a pain and starting to get unable to have fun while playing, can someone please sort this out, thank you

You and your teammates can sort it out. This is an in-game tactic which is valid (if not always wise) for Killers. We have all been there. We have all been camped. We have all been tunneled. It is part of the game. It happens a whole lot less than you think. Your perception is blurred by personal bias. Those terms are also thrown around willy-nilly, even when not actually accurate.

  • I've just read so many self-serving BS posts. In my experience, the timing of a disconnect is always very telling. I see them when a person gets first downed, when they first enter the game and learn the Killer, when they get the first hook, etc. Isn't it strange how they always seem to coincide perfectly with an in-game event? What a coincidence that now, all the sudden, we have so many people claiming their systems are crashing. What catastrophic timing; what would the odds be on something like that. It is downright miraculous right?

People disconnect because they are poor sports and/or they simply do not know it is against the rules. It is part of the reporting system. The only reasonable excuse for a disconnect is your internet crashes or their is a genuine RL emergency. Neither of those things should be happening so regularly that it shows a PATTERN which causes you to get a ban. If you start a match, you finish a match. If you can't do that, find another game. If real life internet issues or emergencies are so common for you right now that you can't not disconnect, hold off playing until you have your problems sorted. Trying to play if you can't keep a stable connection for some reason is inconsiderate to other players.

  • Hrm. I agree with the OP completely about good sportsmanship. I think Players should be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Players should not cheat, and they should finish the games they start. To me that defines "fair" play. The longer this thread goes on, the more it seems to be changing emphasis to be about shaming people who play hard, i.e. competitively. Fair play and competitive play are not mutually exclusive. Fair has nothing to do with the Survivor's Rules for Killers or vice versa. Fair simply means, don't cheat.

DbD is a PvP game. It is competitive by design. It is four Survivors who advance by achieving goals which are the exact opposite of the Killer. More than that, the game has a Rank system, which measures us against one another as Players. There are head to head events, and we even started to see the rise of Tournaments, and discussions of leagues. There are lots of SWF groups that play together (most in fact) for a competitive edge. Let's not delude ourselves about the basic nature of this game.

There is nothing wrong or shameful about being a competitive player. In fact, good sportsmanship expects you to give 100% effort. The fun of any game is in the "playing" of it. If you don't like competition and conflict, then DbD might not be the game for you. I won't cheat. I finish the games I start, fighting them to the bitter end even when I'm losing. I'm going to thank and/or compliment my opponent(s) afterwards. That is all that is required of fair play. I would appreciate it if people stopped trying to "spin" things or move the goalposts.

  • So many BS posts. I've never had a crash since I installed this game. The only bugs I've experienced were a few sound related ones right after a big update (and those got fixed). The biggest problem I have experienced playing DbD has been people who disconnect and the odd hacker. Since the DC penalties came back up the number of people disconnecting in my games (and wasting my time) has dropped significantly. Each day it drops more. So no, I think the penalties should stay. I think they should be more punishing.

*Let me repeat, if you can't be bothered to finish a match, don't start one in the first place. If you don't like this game enough to play it as intended, there are other games. Hit the road jack... don't you come back no more... no more... no more... no more.

  • @Rezblaze said:

I have a suggestion that will possibly allow NoED to remain strong but give Survivors a chance to address it throughout the match.

    - NoED starts with six stacks and is inactive.

    - For every Dull or Hex totem cleansed in the match, lose a stack.

    - Every stack lost gives NoED a 10 second cooldown between instadowns, for a total of 50 seconds.

    - Stacks can be lost even while NoED is activated.

This way, the perk retains its use as a strong late game perk, but when survivors do bones they actually weaken the power bit by bit, allowing some counterplay rather than waiting for it to spawn and then scowering to find it.

NOED doesn't need a Nerf. It was fine before and was deeply affected by Undying (everyone does Bones). :)

A map that's only situationally good isn't a good map.

That's like saying a situational perk (which there are tons of, on both sides) are awesome perks, despite having one, specific use case that makes any sense, except that use case happens 1/50 matches.

Fair point. I'll concede the map is a lot harder on most (both Killer and Survivor) than others. But I'm not certain that makes it a bad map. I'm kind of glad we have odd maps that defy the setup of the others and yield a particular, if often trying challenge. It keeps things spicy.

*That and it is only one map out of a large number. It doesn't come up that often unless someone does an offering.

  • Well I know Hag likes it as does Spooky Myers. When I'm playing Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo I'll put in Midwich before I do Lerys.

I mean you mention being hard to play, but his power is literally look at people -gain exposed. Its that simple mate. In term of depth, he's probably most hollow character regarding depth as his mechanics are how fast he stalks based off distance you are from the survivor and your ability to 99% a EV3. If you were to ever recommend DBD to a new player to start playing killer, The most obvious answer would be Myers because of how simple his gameplay is. Even when the game only had 4 other killers including him, He was never really regarded as "good", however his licensing was easily one of the most hyped killers in DBD for his time. Beyond Clown who pardon the pun is literally Clown in term of power-level, Myers falls in the category of potentially the runner up/worst killer in the game. Exposed isn't even a unique power and frankly most 1 shot type killers like Billy,Oni,Leatherface gain more value from their respective exposed powers and have more depth to show. His gameplay isn't even unique anymore because Ghostface exists as killer and better emulates the stalk into 99% into 1 hit playstyle.

Even when you read his in-game description, He described as "The Shape" as if he is suppose to transform and it is stated that he is suppose to become stronger and faster but he never really does that and he just stays as classic 115% m1 killer with no real power to call his own. I vaguely remember them saying something about add-on pass about a year ago but he honestly look rework worthy as he check out every box. Perhaps they forgot his exist or others stuff precedes priority. who knows?

Ummm, no. Myers is much more sophisticated than that. If your read on him is what you stated, there is no way I can explain it to you. It suffices to say that I know so much more about him now than I did before, and to make him work requires a lot more than stare and slug. But we can agree to disagree. You do you.

hmmm ok lets look at this.... 50 killers, 200 survivors. and 10 killers and 30 survivors get pushed to this queue leaving us 40 killers and 170 survivors. so with 40 killers you can only have 160 survivors in a game at anyone time, and then you have 10 people that have to WAIT for a match to complete. they however have 10 killers and 30 survivors, that means 7 killers are guaranteed a match and 28 survivors are guaranteed a match. so 3 killers have to wait and 2 survivors have to wait. wow.... what a great trade off they get faster matches than we do and they are the ones that broke the rules. sure they'll have a dc or what not. but you know what? those of us that have to wait will resent their faster matches. it's about the numbers.... they won't wait as long as we do in the long run when you remove them out of the rotation like that thus you reward them.

Your logic is faulty because you assume that small group are all online at the same time. The smaller the group, the harder the logistics are. They will have a hard time getting games and have LONG ques.

  • I'm not the best Looper (although I am working on it), so I prefer to avoid as many chases as possible. Calm Spirit works for me.

you have 3 xboxes that are online and one drops it's conenction? it's not your internet but your ROUTER. this is not something for BEHAVIOR to be involved in. don't have all three at once.... have one going when you want solid internet conenction. Your router has to determine which units have access to the internet and sometimes that means shutting down one for a while. stop blaming your isp for your own equipment failing at this. this is a problem for YOU to solve not complain about it here when it's in your court and capability to solve!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1682782#Comment_1682782

if you put them in their own queue, they will get to have their matches and keep getting them and dcing against whom ever sure but what happens to us? we get slower matches and longer wait times. so yes lets REWARD the ones that break the rules with better match times and penalize those that don't break the rules with longer wait times.

Removing the offenders shows them they BROKE the rules and won't get a reward for doing it. remember when it was a -4 or -2 pip if you disconnected? that was a freaking reward! they WANTED to get to the lower ranks! they WANTED to have easier matches! and it was given to them! (it was -4 some time before october 2018 when i started playing so i may be wrong about that but it was originally for me -2 if you disconnected when I started playing). SO I'd rather take slower matches than reward people that break the rules.

I don't think you realize that they won't be getting a reward. My punishment is far worse than a Ban or loss of Pips. They will be on the Island of Misfit Toys, so to speak. Getting games will take forever, and when they do someone is certainly going to DC. Advancement will be near impossible. But that is my speculation. I believe the DCer crowd are an annoying minority, and thus would be a much smaller Que than the rest of us.

Must not play survivor much. Always loosing my teams to mori, and stuck on gens myself. Or killers just camp whoever they hook first and camp/tunnel. Neither side gets a lot of blood that way. Although a killer can have a bad game and get 20k-60k BP. As a survivor. With a good game and win. ill get about 30-25k. But keep telling me how thats fair.

I log just as much time as a Survivor as I do a Killer. I'm a much better Killer than I am a Survivor so I'm trying to improve so they match up. I'm a Rank-4 Killer but my Survivor Rank seems to float between 8-10. Most Killers, who know better, don't love the Mori. It is a specialized tool. It also costs you points. Over use is likely to cause you to lose a Pip.

IMO the company should have taken the easier approach of using an appropriate ranking system so those that want to play the game "hard core" can and those that treat this as a "parlor game" can do so as well. This is a Game (mostly) about AMERICAN HORROR movies, killing, murder, bloodshed and nothing positive comes from ANY of that. Im playing games like PHASMAPHOBIA that are 1000x more scary than this and yet this game has more depiction of that stuff.

If I was sitting in the design seat of this game. I'd dial this thing clear up and make it the Crowning King of horror, terror and violence. Not a "mall cop" simulator. We are talking 3rd time down moris and killer rage meters so they CAN KILL vs just slapping someone with a Melee weapon.

If players are mad, give up and DC from any game they are either COUNTERPLAYING, or they cant counterplay. so they are so MAD they quit. Today, the complaint box stands that why players GIVE UP is because

a ) My team mate is USELESS

    b) Im countering the HATCH closure since the try-hard killer is using BBQ

c ) im mad because of an ILLEGAL HIT the killer landed on me. so it enraged me.

    d) i have nothing more to do, since the killer slugged my whole team and now the bleedout times are going to take several MINUTES. Im bored.

e ) hackers exist in computing and they can knock any person's connection OUT. Ever heard of NMAP?, backtrack or Kali? talking about exploiting computer systems and networks is absolutely no different than talking about how to bump a Slage brand lock or how to manipulate a Group 2 safe Dialer set. What infuriated everyone is the innocent people that get caught up in a system YOUR company otherwise thinks is protecting its best interest when it clearly does NOT!

There are plenty of people that perceive this game in 2 aspects.

    1 ) Competitive

    2 ) Non-competitive players.

The question is how do you keep BOTH parties HAPPY? I mean EVERYONE that enters this forums is a PAYING CUSTOMER and a SUPPORTER of the company in one way or another. I'd say if I was going to solve this, so people quit DOXING and DOS'ing one another with the PENALTY SYSTEM is enabled would be a revamp of the rank system. The more times a person clicks EXIT, the slower they progress UP the ranking system and get knocked back every time they do! For those that want to play the match through and the full-n-well of what the company has to offer. They can rank up as long as they play matches and don't leave.

If they play on a bad connection or a faulty computer. They can STILL pay and play to SUPPORT your paycheck and the community. Eitherway. Take this as a grain of salt. Im in my 30s and have ran a couple of ag businesses in my life. Coming online to game in my freetime is fun. But when people aren't having fun. it brings bad vibes and ruins a company's reputation. You can either have a select few play your game for awhile and eventually close the doors early or you can invite everyone to the party and role with the big boyz.

    peace.

There is a problem with this approach. How people define "casual" versus "competitive" varies. If the game were split that way, what is to stop someone who is far more competitive from simply hanging out in the casual group and slaughtering the lot of them? He might consider himself casual, when the others do not. You end up with the SAME situation we have now.

Is that really what you want the devs focusing on with how much needs to be fixed?

I don't want anyone focusing on the DCer crowd. Send them to the island of Misfit Toys and forget about them until they earn their way back. Let the DEV focus on their job and those of us that play by the rules.

None of that makes him good. He starts off the slowest killer in the game, his ability relies SOLELY on survivors making mistakes and not being aware, without add ons he’s not even decent.

not to mention they nerfed him a couple times for no reason.. the only round-about buff he got was map size reductions, but some levels are absolutely terrible for him, like Midwhich, most indoor maps if you weren’t going for specific builds, and many outdoor maps, such as Ormound, where he basically just loses for being in the map.

Good is a "subjective" term. We may be using it very differently. If you are saying he isn't as powerful or easy to play as some other Killers, I would agree with you. But I'm not certain I think learning to play Killer on the most potent or easy Killers is actually "good" for anyone. I picked Myers because he is the Godfather in part, but mostly because I went through and found a Killer that was listed as "Hard" in the learning curve and basic in style, i.e. M1. I think I've benefited greatly from the experience. But could Myers use a tune up? Sure. But is he the worst? Far from it.

I basically can not play if I am having internet or PC issues. As I end up with 30 minute timers for things out of my control. I would much rather be penalized 1k bloodpoints if I was to actually DC.

Let me be polite and sympathetic. I'm sorry you are having internet issues. Might I suggest that you should NOT be playing until said issues are resolved? By insisting on starting matches when you know you are likely to drop out of them, you are being very inconsiderate to the people whose time you are wasting. If you are having problems, wait until they are fixed.

  • I'm not sure I want to see the stats. I don't begrudge anyone else their interest, but it doesn't really benefit me in any way to know what other people are taking. I'm not sure it benefits the community either. It is nice when the DEV decide to let us in on the statistics but it also creates a sort of negative feedback loop where everyone tries to skew the numbers to support whatever valid or crackpot theory they have. Personally, I think those numbers are useful for the DEV, but worthless if not downright counterproductive for the rest of us.

  • I think Myers is the best killer for the following reasons:

    1. It is Michael "freaking" Myers. He is the Godfather of the entire genre this game is based on.
    2. He has a difficult learning curve. I think people should learn Killer on a middle of the road M1 Killer to "git good".
    3. He has a lot of nuance and finesse. You can build a lot of VERY DIFFERENT Myers.

Every match the killer has ebony mori. Just played 10 in a row. Every killer has range like pyramid head. Can hit you even if animation has a whole 3 foot gaps. Through a window. Take 3 steps and still get hit with the killer on other side of window. Playing with friends game is tolerable. Playing with random. Impossible. Playing a killer is not even fun. Its easy mode whenever playing any. Work on balancing your game and stop coddling killers. If they need more so bad. Make it like DS and have to pass a skill check.

-hit range is not accurate. Fix hit boxes please.

    - can't take 3 steps without a hook there. Makes wiggle pointless. Basically a Wasted feature.

    - notice a lot of people complained in groups that even when spamming struggle. Entity glitches and still kills you with 25% meter still there.

    - 85% of daily challenges are for killers.

I enjoy playing killers along with survivors but survivors are way to much a challenge and killers is way to easy mode.

Wow. You must be the unluckiest person in the world. I just went four days and in that time I saw two Mori (one Ebony and one Green). Funny how our experiences can be that different. I mean, statistically you should buy a Lotto ticket. I think you have a heck of a lot of good luck built up based on that record of pulling Killers with a Mori.

Personally I think the DC penalty is very much needed and already I've noticed a difference in my matches - now survivors are not dc'ing as soon as they are downed at the start of the match and killers are not dc'ing whenever they lose a totem. I've not seen a particular increase on people trying to suicide on the hook either. So it's a win/win as far as I'm concerned.

People need to realise that when they commit to a lobby, they're committed to playing that match instead of ruining the game for everyone else who does want to play the game.

I agree. I have already seen a huge improvement in my games too. I only make the suggestion about sending the DCers off to their own Que to play only with each other if it turns out the penalties don't work. So far, they seem to be helping and I would assume the longer they are up, the more benefit we will see from them. Of course, the price we pay for it is more of them whining and ranting here on the Forum about unfairness.

But who would they play against?

I think it's fair to say survivors DC a lot more than killers.

That means it would actually take them longer to find a game than with the current DC penalty. Sometimes even impossible to get a game.

So as much as I dislike those people, I don't think that's a fair way to handle it.

Exactly. They would have a nice LONG wait for the Killers who DC. I suppose their dance card would be full. They would get games, eventually. Do I care if it takes way too long? No. They made their bed; far be it for me to deny them the right to DC or play with other people who agree with them. Perhaps some of the DCer Survivors will take one for the Team and do Killer a bit. Not our problem. My point is they won't be banned. They can play the game. They just have to play with others who behave the way they do. There is a price for not following the rules. This would be theirs.

So first off I want to say that yes, I understand that rank reset just happened but this has been an issue for quite sometime now and is why I think no one enjoys playing this game now a days. As someone who plays both sides equally but enjoys survivor more, matchmaking makes me want to take breaks from this game. I used to ONLY play swf matches back then and now I only play solo at the moment but let me tell you, it's not fun getting paired up with teammates that are far from your rank along with an experienced killer as you feel you are the only one doing good in chases, knowing where to go, how the map works etc. And as for killer it's also not fun going against ranks significantly lower than you at all. Some might say "well be glad they're not a red rank swf squad" or something among those lines but that's not the point. I really wish the devs would look into matchmaking because if it continues like this Idk what to do, game is getting so stale. Also don't make fun of my rank lol, I know rank reset hit yesterday but as you can tell I clearly play this game and mostly this game ALOT lol,

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/H4OZN9X2T8DU/deadbydaylight-10-14-2020-10-46-57-pm-li.jpg

We are all dying; the universe will, itself, eventually fall victim to entropy and death. There is a furniture store in my town that has a big "Going Out of Business Sale" banner on the side of the building. It puts a new one of those up every year, and yet the doors never seem to close. Do you get my point? Yes, DbD will one day cease to operate just as you and I will one day cease to operate. It won't be anytime soon, however, so I wouldn't hold your breath. DbD is actually doing quite well. As other people have remarked already, it is a cycle. Old players roll out, new players roll in. Some people return, some people don't. Overall, they seem to be holding steady or experiencing growth.

  • So in the short time the penalties have been reintroduced we have heard a lot of squawking and complaining from those they affect. In fact, the gist of such arguments are:

    1. Things here aren't fair so we should have the right to DC whenever we want.
    2. Your DC don't do anything anyway.
    3. You are inconveniencing me!

Ok? I'd actually take all the whining and noise as a sign that the penalties are doing what they are supposed to do, i.e. annoy the people who waste our time in the same way they annoy us. All that being said, I still think there is a better way to go.

Don't ban these people with a pattern of DC behavior. Send them off to their own Que. Let them play only with other people who feel the same way they do. If their arguments are true, and they should have the RIGHT to DC whenever they want, then they won't be annoyed or upset when people constantly do it to them. I would think they would be thrilled. Sure, the Ques for them will be slower, and games cancel out a lot, and advancement will be pretty much a joke. But hey, that ability to drop out of those bad games will help them get right into the next one. Again, I strongly suggest that we let them (route them) to play with their own ilk. The only way back out of their Que and into sanity with the rest of us would be to play a certain number of games without DC. I personally think the minimum should be (30).

When you look at the various threads about what pisses people off most about the game, you will usually find the same list of bugs etc: Facecamping, tunneling, keys, moris, hitboxes, etc.

To then see the devs say they are not focused on a health update, respectively that certain things like facecamping are 'part of the game' is truly devastating and discouraging.

Because so many of these things could very easily be solved with mechanics that are already in the game.

Hitboxes: Every character has a full body model, and usually a hitbox can be applied to that.

Facecamping: PH has shown that it's possible to move a survivor if the killer loiters around the cage, thus it should be possible to do the same for hooks (and reset the hook timer for the survivor), Ghostface and myers, as well as various perks have proven the game can tell where someone is looking and for how long. This can easily be used as an additional factor against face- and proximity camping. The game can tell if a killer stays around the hook because they are kicking gens or looking for a nearby survivor, so it should be able to tell a camper and act accordingly.

Tunneling: The game likewise knows when you are in a chase. So with knowing who you are looking at, it should be able to tell if someone is coming after a recently unhooked survivor without any 'intermission'. Likewise it should be able to tell if a killer simply goes after someone for a moment to then turn around and tunnel.

Keys: Various threads have made good suggestions, from only being able to find keys in the match (rarely) or allowing killers to pick keys up and get a bonus for them.

Moris: Likewise, various very good suggestions on how to change them, ranging from fairer restrictions to more complex mechanics.

The mechanics are there. So please, bhvr, apply them. Facecamping and Tunneling should NOT be part of the game.

Judging by what you wrote, it sounds like YOU should not be in the game. So why are you here? If things are that bad, I would think someone not having fun would mosey on down the the game highway to find something else? And I always love when people say how easy things are to fix, because clearly they understand and know so much about the situation and code. To hear them talk, the evil DEV sit around on piles of money laughing at us and doing nothing. It is all a conspiracy to camp, tunnel, and Mori you!

The equation is simple; if you are not having fun, you should leave. Vote with your wallet. Your screeds here fall on deaf ears because:

    1. They have no merit.
    2. They are delivered in a non-productive way.
    3. The vocal minority create so many of these that any actual truth in them is drowned out by garbage.

I hear you won't get camped, tunneled, or even suffer the indignity of the Mori over in Minecraft or perhaps WOW is more your speed? I mean, those games are out there. I'm sure they will be happy to take your money.

I see you copypaste these rules everywhere but it feels pompous as hell in a few parts.

Don't cheat with lag spikes? What do people think lag spikes are? It's not a physical object you jam into the ethernet port.

What if it's the game ######### up? Am I to be victim blamed for being killer and the servers being #########? Random dc's could be attributed to the spaghetti code too. I'm walking along and suddenly my character drops dead, killer nowhere near me. But I guess its my fault right?

    Two is fine.

Three is unreasonable. You won't get people to follow decor and proper mannerisms just by telling them to. If I pull victory from the jaws of defeat all while being mocked the entire match, I'm letting them have it if they engage me.

Respect is more important. It may be nitpicking but respect is more understandable virtue as it relates to how you view and treat others and would like wise see in return. I see a gg, I gg. Someone has a problem with what I do, I explain my actions and my reasoning for doing so. Being humble and gracious is an effect of being respectful.

Additionally on topic, why is there a forfeit button if you just get punished anyways? They say if it's in the game, you can use it, but the quit button is apparently taboo.

Creating a lag spike by screwing with the bandwidth of your system is a known cheat method. I find it hard to believe you don't know that already. And if you think advocating for good sportsmanship is pompous, then I'm pompous. I will continue to promote and post those rules whenever appropriate to the subject being discussed. Three is not unreasonable. It is the easiest of the three. It is basic good manners. It is the good sportsmanship we were taught in pre-school, Kindergarten, and all the way up. I'm not telling anyone to do anything. In fact, nobody should have to voice those three rules at all. They are basic commonsense and courtesy. The fact that you seem offended by them or somehow want to dissect them makes your motives suspect. :)

Yeah no I've witnessed enough inaction to know this isn't true.

Actually, you haven't witnessed anything because they don't report back to those of us who put in reports. If you provide video evidence of the hacks, they investigate and act. They just don't tell us. I don't blame them.

If someone is cheating we should be exempt from any rule that involves not DCing tbh.

Two wrongs don't make a right. If someone is cheating, you record it so you can report it and we can get the hacker banned. Play it out. Get whatever points out of the experience you can. A disconnect when facing a cheater only cost YOU points and prevents any kind of efforts to punish them.

I haven’t played as much the past few weeks but I am now and because of rank reset I’m stuck with absolute potatoes that make you ask the question..are these real people or just bots? The most painful experience ever

I'm a Rank-9 (after reset) Survivor and I sometimes resemble this remark. :) Glass houses man, glass houses. I think the quality of Survivors can vary widely and is rarely representative of their Rank. A bad Survivor can be carried by a good team. A good Survivor can be dragged down by a bad one. No Talmeer. Your assumptions are completely wrong. Who gave you such godlike insight into survivors that you get the right to presume that even if the devs 'designed the Survivor Miracleland' (whatever tf that is) they would still DC? You're just copping an attitude that you hate all DCers and promulgating the idea that all DCers are entitled idiots and would just keep DCing because things aren't perfect. You put on this air of speaking logically but you are frankly spouting baseless, illogical, toxic lies.

It has been spoken about at length by many, myself included, WHY survivors DC. I would estimate that 90% of DC'ing is for logical reasons. Spirit is still OPAF. People DC against her as soon as game starts. Moris are OPAF. People DC when they see moris. Midwich is a godawful map that people DC for. When people realize they're running against a Doc with anti-gen build on Lery's they DC. When they see they're against a see thru walls Meyers or IH Huntress or Rusty Shackles Hag or Coxcomb Wraith, etc... they DC. Why? Because they know that 99% of the time its an unfair game that's no fun and they die and lose a pip usually anyway. Same goes for seeing your teammates afk or playing like toxic fools. The game isn't worth playing so you leave.

All you Anti DCers need to look in the mirror. You want the DC penalty for your own petty and selfish reasons. You just want your bloodpoints or you want to watch your mori or you want to slaughter a whole team with your awesome build, or you want to keep your red rank or whatever. Stop projecting this onto people trying to avoid unfair situations. Remove the DC penalty. Let people keep all their stuff when a DC happens. Problem solved.

I can't answer for the person you addressed but I do hate DCers. :) We should all be playing by the following three, simple rules:

    1. Don't cheat, either by hacks or lag spikes.
    2. Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
    3. Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.

Do I hate people who can't exercise the very minimum of good sportsmanship? Yes.
