Just play Survivor for awhile. Bringing a Mori every game is more counter productive to you than it is to them.

Let me start this off saying Dead by Daylight is my favourite game/franchise on Xbox/Playstation. I'm a big horror fan and it's a love letter to me. I love the game and want to see it succeed and "win."
But I also have anxiety and I worry about the game and it's health. I've seen a lot of posts and videos bringing up how the game is beginning to die and it's starting to fall as there's more microtransactions and bad quality content being thrown at us. I really don't want the game to die or go anywhere.
I'm basically just here asking for reassurance and need someone else's opinion about this. I just want to know that Dead by Daylight isn't going anywhere for a long time because I really care about this game. I am quite passionate and get very excited for new things.
I just want to be able to enjoy it for many years to come and I want it to keep growing. It's not World of Warcraft or Overwatch but in my opinion it's more special than those things. I just want it to succeed.
Just ignore the negativity you find on the Forum. It isn't reliable as a pulse check for reality.

I am going back to my "horror" rule of if I kill 3 survivors in a match, the last survivor gets to go free through the hatch or gate.
Do you prefer to sacrifice the last survivor to the entity or do you let them go?
It depends on a lot of things, not the least of which is my mood.

They haven't touched a gen in 35 minutes. Why does the d/c penalty exist?
As others have advised, record and report. That being said, FIND THEM. The maps aren't that big. If you insist on patrolling the final Generators and don't go out and look for them, you are also at least partially responsible for the situation. I had pair 3-Gen themselves really badly once. I kept a tight patrol for like 15 minutes before I said to myself, "wait a minute... of course they aren't going to come in. They are waiting for me to go look for them." So I did... and guess what... they made an attempt. I found them.

lmao what is the "bad deed" you speak off? not giving away more cosmetic skins for free? you get 10k shards that you can keep and spend on a new original DLC, you can get all the skins except the ghostface because hes licensed, for free with gameplay time, you cant do that with the original blight skins, which are now on sale and have been on sale before, get the next original survivor or killer for free instead of getting a cosmetic skin if you like. you also get BP for free and a 2x bloodhunt event. you even got pumpkin gens and pumpkins in the manu theme. I dont see what people are so up in arms for. If all you care about are the collectibles and the dopamine points at the end of the day, why even bother playing the game if the gameplay isnt fun? you guys will always find away to complain. If they just did game health instead of doing an event or a new chapter you all would complain about lack of content etc, nothing is never good enough. considering theres a pandamic still ongoing and almost all the devs work from home, they did a pretty good job compared to last years "halloween event" bet you all already forgot that last years event was even worse, wasnt even on halloween.
I agree. The sense of entitlement is crazy high among DbD players. That kind of entitlement doesn't evolve with "bad" companies. There are games that never give anything (and I stress ANYTHING) away for free. Oddly enough, their Forums aren't rife with this kind of stuff. This kind of behavior only occurs when a company has been rather generous and/or bent over backwards. It creates an expectation, and people take for granted that the free stuff will always be there. This kind of negative feedback loop turns companies who WERE generous into misers. They eventually learn the lesson, that nothing is ever good enough. Nothing is ever enough. If they are going to be treated like they are monsters, why try to behave any other way? That is the risk the community faces right now. They are going look at this situation and take exactly the opposite lesson from it than you intend. They are going to decide (rather soon now) that there is little point in being progressive and interactive when all it ever does is get their hand bitten.

I was never a NOED fan (as a Killer) because I don't like fighting one Perk down the entire match. I play Myers and I just need too many other things to waste the slot. I consider NOED to be a bad Perk for Killers, not a good one. For all the angst about it, few Killers make bank on it once you leave the Potato Ranks. What tends to happen is the Perk is popular with newbie Killers, eventually falls out of use as you find your skills and more effective Perks.
However, in fairness, it makes a return. Red Rank Killers like it. Why? They have gotten so good that they can afford to play the match without any Perks, and certainly don't mind playing one Perk down. It is effective against SWF who haven't had to deal with it in quite some time. Combined with things like Blood Warden it is downright horrific.

Honestly, that’s not the best solution! You’re excluding a huge portion of DBD consumers who make up their target market... many users are college students, or individuals that live in apartment complexes. These people have no control of their internet and some places even BAN the use of private internet set-ups on their property. To simply say “get over it” or “pay for better WiFi” is not helpful and somewhat elitist.
If there’s not a fix for identifying the “network loss” and “intentional dc”, then there shouldn’t be such harsh penalties. I think keeping the 5-min DC is fine, but nothing more - especially with the refresh rate of these DCs counting over DAYS (can dc three times in two days and be pushed into 30min ban). There’s always the idea of NOT ALLOWING anyone to leave game within the first 5 or 10 minutes - perhaps graying out the leave option? THATS a solution to stop players from screwing over their teammates. The current dc timer doesn’t address that very well and instead hurts many of their players.
Anyone agree?
No, of course not. You are saying that OTHER people should just have to be inconvenienced because you have bad internet.

There is a bigger picture here.
You get shards which can be spent on cosmetics but they are not only tied to the event ones. You could buy some for any character if one so wishes.
You could also purchase a dlc character one may not have or buy perks from the shrine.
i don't look at this as just an event skin but everything else we could also get with it.
Exactly.

I this "event" is incredibly insulting to me. BHVR really thinks that we would settle for less? Never.
I and many other people will not buy anything from the shop until we get what we deserve. A REAL Halloween event.
The choice is yours.

It was 100% worth it. I did it in Hawkins and I just zoomed into a room where they were sitting on a Gen beside the door. The reaction was priceless.
I'm sold. Next map... Spooky is also Speedy!

I just did a Spoopy myers (Scratched Mirror) for the lols with this Add-on and I think the survivors got more scared of a speeding Myers than the actual jumpscare from nowhere. They scattered into walls in panic, it was pretty funny to watch.
I'll have to try this even if it costs me Boyfriend's Memo to pull off (I'd have to cut that to have room for it).

My bad for being overly hyperbolic. I kept rewriting it to try to explain what I meant better and it ended up that way.
I'm not here to argue about your opinion on how well BHVR deals with their pr cuz it'll get us nowhere.
Also, about your point on everyone receiving the blood points... Not everyone received the bloodpoints due to bugs and lack of communication. For some ppl it just suddenly appeared without them knowing why. For others they suddenly lost blood points. some ended up with 0 blood points or worse they had negative points. For others they didn't gain anything cuz they were maxed out. Things were(are) pretty buggy and the communication wasn't (isn't) quite all there.
And I would urge anyone this happened to to put in a ticket. The company must know about its codes and issued points, and whom actually got them. I take a screen shot of my Scrooge McDuck treasure horde of stuff built up on my Myers EVERY day. Why? If something happens and I've suddenly lost all those Add-On(s) and offerings, I want to be able to give them something to show the issue. Do I have faith it will be taken care of? Yes. They have earned that trust from me. So I think it behooves all of us to take precautions and save information. Computers and software are not reliable even when coders regularly work on it. Government systems that control our Nukes constantly have issues. In short, should bad things happen? No. Can we mitigate the damage by being proactive? Yes. Can we get our issues resolved with effort and a little patience? In my experience so far, yes.

I personally think green moris should have a requirement too. If a killer hooks and tunnels the first guy down to get the mori quickly it's pretty much gg especially if its before a gen has been done.
I could get behind this... but only it was like a (3) Hook requirement and allowed the Mori to be used on anyone.

Alright, so first I will admit freely - my post was probably undeserved. I was pissed about the event, along with a multitude of real life things, and I took it out on BHVR on the forums. I can see all the points you made, and for any backlash you got over my post, I'm sorry. That wasn't really my intention at all, I just needed to vent.
My problem with BHVR right now is the multitude of other problems that have been completely ignored. No free skins, whatever - I don't care. At least it's not a loot box system or something like that. The free skins was my main point because of how it felt like, to me, BHVR wasn't doing anything for their consumers. In the end, the game is nothing without their community, and this didn't really prove to me and a lot of other people that they care about their community.
Because other than the event, the skins, whatever - this patch actively broke the game on PS4, introduced a torrent of new bugs, and bugs that are well over a year old now still remain in the game. This patch was a huge step in the wrong direction, at least to me. BHVR has addressed the PS4 problem, I'll give them that, but that doesn't change the fact that the console versions are incredibly poorly optimized, and they have been for a long, long time despite promises to fix it. There are still so, so many bugs in this game that have been there for months. Sound is always a huge one, as it seems they somehow manage to break sound more and more with each passing patch. There's a bug where some survivors will be completely silent on the ground. And it has been there for more than a year at this point. Patches like this, and events like this where the whole theme is "buy, buy, buy!" when there are still so many broken things, yes, seem greedy to me. I don't care about free stuff nearly as much as I just want them to fix their game. From my point a view, these patches focus on quantity rather than quality.
I completely understand why, at the end of the day they are a company and they need to make money, but with every patch they make that introduced new bugs and new problems to an already huge array? They need to do something, and none of their responses have been super great. So, yeah, BHVR does give us stuff like BP, and even as I am thankful for the current login rewards, the game is broken, and they're not making big enough strides to fix it. Free currency doesn't change that. I love this game, and what it's managed to do, and I don't want to see it fail, but in the current way it's headed I don't see it lasting much longer. I don't know.
And I think this is a fair, moving post. I think if we really want to be a community, rather than a weird gathering of angry Trolls and misfits, we have to learn to reign in our more angry or just petty natures. I also love this game, and I've not been around as long as you. I see the issues, but I suspect I am just naturally an optimistic person. I think for the community and the company to move forward, it has to be Win-Win. I've often suggested that they take this Forum down. All it does is spread bad PR, and on the company dime. If people are that passionate that they want to keep up the rants, let them pay for it.
The company, however, is more progressive than I am. I think that says a lot about them that we should not take for granted. I think they need a little appreciation now and then, and that it might be more reciprocated in the way people want, rather than just how the company guesses. I just think we catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
-
I think Keys are just fine now that the hatch is invisible until a certain number of Generators (compared to remaining Survivors) are finished. It requires some effort to use them. I think the are a useful part of the game, even if I've been denied a lot of kills because of them. I hope that a slight rework for the Ebony Memento Mori follows the same guidelines, but is tied to Hooks rather than generators. So my suggestion is basically:
Yellow Mori: Stays the same.
Green Mori: Stays the same.
Red Mori (Ebony): This Mori unlocks after the first (4) Hooks and allows one Mori. It will likewise allow an additional Mori after that for every additional Hook. *However, it doesn't matter if the Survivor has been hooked or not, the Mori will work against anyone when active. Thus:
4 Hooks = 1 Mori
5 Hooks = 2 Mori
6 Hooks = 3 Mori
7 Hooks = 4 Mori
*This ensures that the game would require three MORE Hooks than it does currently to Mori everyone. It encourages people to take protection hits, and go after Hooks to prevent a hooking because the more hooks, the more likely that Mori unlocks.

I don't play for long, started shortly before the 4th anniversary.
But since the last rank reset (not even since crossplay) I see such a massive drop in people's decency, especially on killer side.
camping, tunneling, noed and general scumminess are rampant, regardless of rank. Like, between the end of the anniversary and the latest rank reset it was maybe 1 in 6-9 killers that was just obnoxious.
now it's... every match. maybe 1 in 20-40 has a decent and fair-ish killer.
Worst bit? Something I loved before was when more than one person brings a BP boost for everyone (streamers or cake) many people silently agreed it's time to farm.
this time with the petals? Nothing. in fact, it seems a lot of killers see it as an invitation to play extra scummy, as if someone brought the petals to help them and only them to more bloodpoints.
No, not that I can tell? I don't see any difference in the behavior of Survivors or Killers now than when I started, except for the fact that I don't interact with newbies near as much. My Rank has hit the point that I don't encounter Potatoes. I suspect you and I look at the game differently, because I don't have a problem with either role playing hard just as long as they shake hands and are cordial after the game ends.

The OP is called that because they kept defending bhvr no matter the circumstances, whether they deserve it or not, and how much they kept failing. Even in the OP's post BHVR is definitely not... Well not great in performance but they've done enough for the OP. It may not be enough for others though and other ppl may not have experienced the same things the OP had with BHVR.
If the police, the army, whatever only followed orders without thinking about what's right or wrong then i'd also think that they're white knighting by defending things they shouldn't be. That's probably the source of a lot of problems with the police and military at this point...
Except that I'm not defending the company "no matter what". What I am doing is calling out an obnoxious, over the top response. I personally think that Halloween should always be their FLAGSHIP event, and probably a loss leader. I think that makes good business sense. I think this could have been handled better. However, I think we forget, as a community, that DbD is not their only game, they are NOT a giant corporation, and they have resources which must be stretched just like everyone else. They have people to pay, real people whose households depend on them. Sometimes they are going to make financial choices which we will never understand because we are not privy to all the information.
What I said, is they have always treated me and mine very well, exceeded my expectations compared to my experiences with "actual" scummy companies, and that they didn't warrant being treated like they broke into people's houses like Repo Men to take Grandma's Dialysis Machine back. My objection was to obnoxious behavior and an unwarranted (and unfair) response. I react the same way to bad sportsmanship too. I think manners cost nothing. I also happen to believe that if the same people (in the same numbers) had voiced their concerns and desires politely that we would have gotten the same (or better) results.
The key point I wanted to make is that I didn't get SPECIAL treatment. That 2.5 Million BP they gave me over the last couple of months was made available to everyone here. I'm sure not everyone availed themselves, and some came later, but it isn't just ME they have treated fairly. It is all of you as well. I have a hard time not thinking of Dudley from Harry Potter, ranting and raving about how he got one less present this year than the previous one. That isn't a good look, and it wasn't necessary to get the job done. Many people here have legitimate concerns and complaints. I had a problem. I communicated it in a polite, professional way and they fixed it. Do you see my point?
-

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you. This game is a stress simulator. That is somehow fitting because it is based on a horror genre in theory, and those films are all about creating and sustaining stress. The bigger the stress, the greater the release when it tones down. You get the idea. While I despise bad sportsmanship, and tea-bagging is certainly that, you can't let that stuff get to you. What happens in the match, stays in the match. If you end up against better people than you, just give it 100% and laugh off the tea-bagging and Salt. You will learn faster. Think of it like a sort of Boot Camp where you will get the last laugh and one day make the Drill Instructors pay dearly.
I am still very new. There are people who have been playing this game here since 2016. I started in time to experience pre-matchmacking, matchmaking, and the current post-matchmaking. As a result, I ended up constantly fighting two levels above my Rank. I was fighting Red+Purple when I was Green. I was fighting pretty much all Red (or mostly Red) by the time I was Purple. While I found it flattering that the game thought I was "ready for the Show" so to speak, it really frustrated me. In hindsight, I learned a lot. Play against the best and you will get stomped. I make no bones about that. Each match will be a grueling, painful testament to how bad you are in comparison to them. But you do get better, and you get better fast.
And take it with a grain of salt that even the best have bad games. All those awesome Streamers you see are choosing which videos to show us. They lose games too, and some of them even show us the losses. While this game does rely a lot of skill and experience, it also has a considerable luck factor. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the wrong time. That is why you cannot fixate on an individual game. That will drive you crazy. You set long term goals and you move toward them. In the face of that, the odd setback is really just par for the course.

People are entitled to their opinions, doesn't matter if they are good or bad. But of course people who started playing in the last fews months or people who have started playing years ago might have different opinions. I have been playing for years and I have seen a lot, good and bad, so I can say this event is worse than both halloween events before and I understand why people complain. Of course, for someone new, that has not experienced them, there is nothing to compare to, so why complain?
I can understand both sides, but just a warning for new players. I have seen the devs make mistakes and only because people complained things were changed or more things were given. So, complaining, if there is a reason to, should happen. I have no doubt that our complaints were what made them drop the price of the new outfits. We complained and 2 days later, they changed it. It is not a coincidence. If people stood silent, that wouldn't have happened.
This is fair. You will note, I never said that people shouldn't express their dismay or concerns. It is how those concerns were expressed that I think are destructive to the community itself. I personally believe that all the same people could have stated their feelings in a way that would not have created an "us versus them" environment, and would still have had the same outcome. It might even have had a more lucrative one. I think it is dangerous to point and say, "look at the results we got!" I look at what happened and say, "why this company is probably a hair away from being entirely jaded and flushing these players." Companies are made up of people, and people have feelings. People tend to see certain behaviors as being ungrateful. Worse still, they start to think, "no matter what we do, we get treated the same way. If we are going to do the time, we might as well do the crime." If we as a community always badmouth them (and on their dime by the way) there comes a point where catering to us is counter-productive.
I think if the same NUMBER of people had expressed their dismay and concerns in a thoughtful, polite but firm manner we would have gotten the same result (or better) and the company/game would have gotten good press. It would have been win/win. Right now, we created a situation where addressing our concerns is NOT win/win. It remains a win for us and a lose for them. I just don't think that model is sustainable.

You say this is the least expensive online game you've played, but I personally know people who have spent over $2,000 on this game.
I honestly don't know how this is the least expensive game you played to be honest. It's a pay to play game that has a free to play monetization model. I've played free to play games I haven't spent a single penny on and still enjoyed most immensely and monetized less hard than this game.
Hell, even the mobile version of DBD is free to play and does stuff better than the main game in my opinion because it's y'know, free to play.
How this game can run 60 fps on minimum spec phones just fine, but struggles to reach even 15 fps on average on a PS4, I'll never know. Funny how the mobile version of the game is handled by a completely different team than the actual version of the game. Does make one wonder. Either way, something is seriously wrong with this game though and the devs are either inept at their jobs, or have woefully ignored the performance problems the game has for far too long.
If you ever played the game at 15 fps by the way with constant microstuttering while having performance problems for the past 3 years that have constantly been ignored despite your begging to the company, you will quickly understand why a lot of people are angry. While I don't play on PS4 (am PC), I know the woes of low and uneven framerate from having to play on below minimum requirements for many games for a good long time and it can seriously kill any and all enjoyment from a game and is even more frustrating when the problem could be fixed but the company running the game just chooses not to for 3 years and even more obnoxious when they promised to fix it over two years ago and the problems still continue to get worse.
Simple. It is the least expensive game I've played because I don't care about cosmetics. I think the fascination with them is weird. I'm happy (thrilled even) to get the free ones, but I'm not generally spending money on them. I bought the core game on sale. I've picked up the odd DLC (Halloween for example) to get the Killer I wanted, and I unlock Perks at the Shrine with shards. At most I'm into this game for about 40-60 in U.S. dollars. Most games I play start at $40+ to buy the base game.
You might say that I'm not an ideal customer because I am a one and done kind of fella. I'm here for the game, not the look. The first thing I asked a friend of mine is "what" benefit or game change do you get for that awesome looking skin on your Killer. He kind of shrugged and said, "well... nothing." I pointed out he now glows in the dark and can be seen coming a mile away. He looked at me funny and clearly was thinking that I just don't get it. I don't. I don't get it at all. But then again, I'm the competitive sort. I compete with myself. I don't want to advertise Prestige. I don't want glow in the dark outfits. I think they look GREAT, but they don't serve my personal purpose. Are you picking up what I'm putting down? This game doesn't require you to pay-to-play. The competitive edge comes from practice, not purchase.

Any theories?
This is just uncanny to me, the fact that she has a higher kill rate than FRICKING SPIRIT is weird.
It has to do with the learning curve of the Killer. If someone tells you a Killer isn't as good, like say a Pig or Myers, who still gravitates to those Killers despite the bad press? It is going to be people who 1) like a challenge, and 2) are fans of the infamous icon. These are players that simply put their heads down with a grim determination and go forward honing their craft. To put this in perspective, a friend of mine was over and playing Freddy. He knows I'm a Myers Player, exclusively, so he said try Freddy out on his account just to see. I felt like superman. The rest of the world was moving in slow motion. I got a 4K so fast and nearly max points possible. Why? I have learned Killer on a much more demanding Killer. I'm not saying Freddy is overpowered. What I'm saying is the learning curve for him, compared to Myers, was non-existent. The other day I played a custom game with my friends. They don't let me play Myers as they say I've gotten too good with him. I only get to be Killer when I play a Killer THEY choose. I got the Trapper. Once again, I felt like freaking superman. It was all about the SPEED, the difference between starting the tame at 105% and having to Stalk versus just being 115% out of the gate. Needless to say, I don't get to be Killer again for awhile. And since our custom games are entirely about fun, I think that is fair.
Pig also has a learning curve which is a bit higher than the others. I expect she is like Myers in the fact that the people choosing her are serious fans of the Saw movies, and dedicated to overcoming the Pig's challenges and getting viciously good. What is more, because she has a high learning curve, the less driven Players drop out. This means only the serious fanatics remain and naturally the get better results. Everyone says the Nurse and Spirit are these awesome Killers, so tons of people flock to them. Surprise, surprise, surprise... most people gloss over the fact that learning to use the Nurse correctly takes some time and practice. A lot of people are going to drop out in frustration and go back to Freddy. I'm sure you get the point.

I am of course assuming we only take account of the majority of the player base and not single players claiming whatever thing to be listened too.
What do you think would be the result of the game in todays terms?
Chaos, absolute chaos. The community doesn't agree with each other about anything and is in a constant battle over entitlement. If they "listened" to the community they would be making constant changes, most of which are mutually exclusive of one another.

Over half the survivor games I played today were against Myers, are people playing him more since it's coming up to Hallowe'en or have I just had really weird odds recently?
Absolutely. 1) It is October, i.e. the month of Halloween. Some people play him more I'm sure just because of that. 2) They posted those statistics showing that he actually has a 70% Kill rate even though he isn't selected that often. So people are realizing that he, like the Pig, is not as awful as everyone claims. 3) It is Michael "freaking" Myers.
-
We will just have to agree to disagree. Survivors waste so much time lurking around while they sneak, it is no big loss to multitask and take out the odd Totem as you pass it. That is what I do, and I don't even recall the last time I was killed by NOED. :)

Even if you do the bones, the killer wasted a minute of your time for doing literally nothing.
You can't realistically expect 4 solo queue survivors to do 5 bones for a perk that the killer MIGHT have.
True, but I can expect them to do Bones on the fact that each unlit is 1K each in value and there are other Hex: Perks that benefit from dull Totems. There really is no reason not to do a Totem, and they do not take a minute.
-
It is a rather bad tactic to do, as a Survivor, because you now let the Killer guard two Survivors for the price of one. If he picked you up, chances are someone would use that opportunity to get the first one off the hook and increase your odds of then getting saved in turn. Staying under the hook give the Killer incentive to sit there and wait for the sac, and then get you. They might even get some other Survivor desperate to break this stalemate knowing the damage it will do to those wanting to escape the match.

Can anyone explain why this is perk should be in the game? Now 3 games in a row (solo play) where I work my butt off, make great plays, saves, runs, get the gens done, only to be one hit with NOED at the end and left to die by my solo teammates. All this perk does is reward the killer with cheap kills at endgame. Its a perk that admits defeat in not being able to prevent the gens from completion before the game is started. It's a perk that, at its worst, I have seen turn a 0k into a 4k. It lets weak killers take out great survivors - flat out end their game and prevent escape - because its one hit at the end of the game with little chance of being saved.
I know the arguments... "do all the totems" or "Play an swf". Neither of those are realistic every game. Many of us have to do a lot of soloing and if I spend all game finding all 5 totems (even with small game) its detrimental to the team and my score and my game experience frankly. This shouldn't be a find the 5 totems game. It should be a do a bit of everything game.
The point is its a cheap garbage perk that should not be in the game. It's ill conceived trash that needs to go.
To quote James T. Kirk, "Don't mince words Bones, tell me how you really feel." NOED is an end game Perk. As you have already commented on it, you know the simplest way to make sure it never goes off, i.e. kill all the Totems, or at least the unlit ones. Even if NOED does go off, you know exactly when it will activate. That means it isn't going to be a surprise. Just because the Killer gets Insta-down doesn't guarantee he is going to catch you. More to the point, you can STILL find that now lit Totem and put it out and kill the Perk.
To put NOED in context, let me point out there are lots of OTHER ways Killers get Insta-Down which are far more potent. Some of them (Chainsaws) start with it all the time as part of their basic power. Some people use Add Ons for it, and some Tier up to it. Some other Perks drop that exposure on you as a nasty surprise. Compared to all these others, NOED is easy.

The only issue with Freddy, if one can call it an issue, is his learning curve is ridiculously low. It doesn't take any finesse to play him. This, by comparison, makes him feel extremely OP compared to Killers that have a steeper learning curve. If you don't really have to learn any tricks to a fancy power, you can focus on basics. So yeah, people who like to play Freddy are going to get good at him very fast.

But as currently demonstrated through the failure of the Halloween event and last Halloween event where we had to ask for them to bring back three skins don't YOU think that they should learn from their mistakes. Sure I agree that people shouldn't crap on the devs constantly with baseless accusations but a lot of thing space and lots of people say about the devs are true if not outright based on facts.
I do actually feel sorry sometimes for the devs. I get it. Getting constant backlash must be crap on your mental health to say the least. But censoring viewpoints is where I draw the line.
Yes I'm grateful for this game. I love horror. But no. I am not gonna just let crap go and be grateful that we get basic things from a company clearly letting standards drop.
Yeah their are worse people out their. (EA). But that's exactly why we need to call behaviour out when their wrong so they don't fall into that trap of being driven by greed and cash grabs.
I want the game to succeed and get better but by your way of thinking we would still have infinite loops. No end game collapse. Ridiculous map sizes. Omega nurse. Legion as he was when first came out. Pallet vacuums and much more.
Why should we be grateful for them "listening" when it takes waves upon waves of backlash to get a single damn change. If we didn't do this we'd be no where in terms of balance and quality game play.
I respectfully disagree with your opinion.
No, I don't. Let me repeat, the company isn't the enemy, and they do things based on costs and labor that you and I don't see. They triage their resources and set priorities based on what they think is better for the long term health of the game. The long term health of the game is far more important to them, than it is to you and I. For us, there is always another game. For them, this might be their Swan Song. That is the hard truth for all companies whose product is an online game.
Do I think they made the right call? No. Halloween should probably always be a flagship event for them and a loss leader. You will get no disagreement from me on that. That being said, I don't think they should have been demonized and virtually tarred and feathered over their choice. Lumping them in with companies who truly do take advantage of their community was unfair (and i continues to be so) when they are extremely progressive. I sometimes wonder about the people who play and post here, I think their frames of reference must be very narrow indeed. This company is downright nice compared to most.
If I were to guess (always a dangerous thing) they have spread themselves thin (they are not a huge company with an army of coders) working on graphical updates to maps. They work on bugs behind the screens. Everyone assumes they are huge, which simply isn't true. They put the priority for the game as working on graphical updates to maps, and clearly feel they need a face lift in graphics to continue to compete in the market. That clearly has been a priority. Maps are and updating existing ones takes a huge amount of effort. The timing of their testing and release of several new maps conflicts with having a big Halloween event is very telling.
We have unrealistic and unreasonable expectations. We are Dudley from Harry Potter. That is the long and the short of it. They will address things, and I firmly believe there was always going to be more things dropping as this event went on. But if we continue to treat them like a horrible company, they will start to truly act like one. We will only have ourselves to blame.

We can't let this crap go on. So basically every time they screw something simple up we have to rage about it until they "hear" us. Maybe if they listened in the first place we wouldn't have to? Do they ever learn from the mistakes. Btw go check out space coconut on YouTube hes literally fighting for a better game like we are now but dbd have tried to censor him by banning him from here. The King has also falsely had a video of his taken down for copyright. This itself is breaking strict guidelines. The video in question was just about this. What we were discussing now. If we support him we might be able to have a bigger voice we dbd devs try to mess us around in the future which lets face it with their track record they will.
Actually, you can and you should let it go. Be grateful they even listen; many companies do not. Continuing to dump on them demonstrates being even more ungrateful and will give them this thought: "If I'm going to do the time, I might as well do the crime." Do you see my point. The company isn't the enemy, and treating them like one is a horrible precedent. It simply means they are less likely to listen to you going forward. Companies are made up of people who make hard choices. We will never be privy to the reasons they make them. I think it is unwise to make too many assumptions or to ascribe motives to them.

Erm you tellin me tomb stone and infinite tier 3 ain't busted? And don't say "oh just get gens done" you can't rely on your team in solo que.
Nope, that combo ain't busted. 3-4 Generators will be up before you get to Tier-3 on average. The only time that combo is effective is if the Survivors are potatoes.

I envy you. Not only for seemingly not facing multi object teams, but also those that are incapable of noticing when the perk icon lights up to tell them where you are. I´ll never run Insidious or HTTS. They are so bad I don´t even know where to start.
Sorry, you´re obviously flailing for a straw of hope to hold onto but I´m just too pissed right now to do your efforts justice.
I'm not flailing at all. I'm telling you what works for me. Their flashing HUD doesn't give them near the information their Aura is giving me. The statistics show that most OoO users die in the match. That doesn't surprise me. I've never had one get out alive, that I remember, since I left Green Ranks. Hex: The Third Seal is a very underrated Perk. I have a great old time watching people (even SWF) run around trying to find each other slugged or on hooks without an Aura to guide them. Even the great intel the SWF provides each other is different from the homing beacon of an Aura. In fairness, I rarely take Insidious because I play Myers and don't need it. However, I have a friend who loves it.
You seem to be under the mistaken impression that I'm debating you. I'm not. I don't care if you find these effective or not; I'm just telling you what has worked for me and a couple of other people. If you want to rant and rave about the OoO, be my guest. I think the Perk is a problem when abused by SWF and on very specific maps in particular (Midwich for one). I'm in the Red Ranks right now, trying to get to Rank-1 with Myers. It has been a very long road, and I assure you that I see OoO all the time. Most of the teams I fight seem to be SWF and if I can abide the power of the Perk, so can you. The Myers abides.

OMG why are yall acting like thats the only reason im leaving? Its not, there are so many other reasons but that was the one that broke the camels back
Fair enough. Mostly I am reacting to it that way because this thread seemed to infer it. If you aren't happy, then it is time to move on. I just hope you come back later. I'm not an emotional guy; I'm a competitive kind of person. I compete with MYSELF and thus a lot of the angst and drama that goes on within the DbD community goes right over my head. I apologize for being kind of blind to it. I make the same assumptions other people do, i.e. that other people are the same as me, and thus I'm puzzled when they get upset about things which don't even make me bat an eye. That is unfair to others and I'm working on the empathy thing. I just think it would be a shame to lose you. I think (or should I say I want) you to stay. But you need to do you.

Unless they make every Killer always undetectable the problem that Object is in SWF can´t be addressed other than changing the perk.
Edit: he didn´t just say the perk is ok, he said they will not make changes to it
And to a degree they kind of do that. You can take Insidious or the Third Seal. When I play Maniac Myers (any Myers that can get to Tier-3) I often take Hex: The Third Seal. The first thing I do is use my Tier-1 to close in and hit the OoO. This blinds them to my Aura even when I Tier up. I generally have found the other Survivors by use of their Spotter. They can spend their time going after my Hexes (and they do) but I spend that time snowballing and killing them all. And if I'm worried about the OoO I can tunnel them out right then and there.
I don't think it is too far-fetched to think that there won't be more Perks or Add-on(s) that will do the same.
-
And you have to remember that them saying they will take a look at his Add-on(s) doesn't mean any changes are imminent. :) They say stuff like that all the time, and in many cases it may be a year (or never) before it happens. Look, I know I come off as an overly optimistic Pollyanna, but trust me when I say there is NO REASON to stress or quit over rumor or idle chatter. What will be, will be. Myers is a flagship Killer for this game. If they rework him, he is more likely to end up like Freddy (and have everyone complaining about how tough he has become) than not. He is Michael "freaking" Myers. Many people joined Dead by Daylight because of him. He is the first licensed Killer. I don't think any of us have anything to worry about. Change is not always a bad thing.

He used Escape and usage statistics to defend Object of Obsession.
i.e. It's not used often and that people who use it tend to die, so it's okay.
I'm sure Ethan's an awesome guy and a valuable member of the dev team, but if he actually thinks OoO is okay he has no clue what this game is like and focuses too much on statistics.
I will happily admit I stopped watching the stream after that comment, so if he rescinded it later, feel free to correct me.
Full disclosure... "I" think OoO is fine too. I don't think the problem is OoO, but rather the rise and ever increasing potency of the SWF abusing it. I think it would be a shame to destroy the Perk when the problem really isn't the Perk. :) OoO has been around a long time and only recently has started to be hardcore exploited by a particular group.
You also have to remember that we only get little snippets of what the DEV are really thinking about. I'm sure they are WELL-AWARE of how OoO is being used by the SWF. For all we know they are aiming to balance it with some other new Perk for Killers or the eventual balancing of a SWF in a different way, i.e. objective based. What I'm pointing out is his comment about OoO being ok doesn't mean he isn't aware of the problem. It just means they aren't also talking to us about how they mean to address the problem. It likely is not by going after the Perk. Does this make sense?

If I were to guess we might see:
- Tombstone Piece changed to allow a SINGLE Mori (working the same as it does not) but no longer increase how long it takes you to Tier up. Or they might tie its trigger to a certain number of Hooks.
- Judith's Tombstone will likely alter in a way to make it get more general use, i.e. not make it slow you down quite so much and/or reduce the effect it has on hitting Tier-3. The Trade off again, will have to be how it affects the Mori-on-the-Run. I expect it might tie the trigger to a number of Hooks rather than simply hitting Tier-3.
- I don't expect them to change the Fragrant Tuft of Hair.
- I don't expect them to change the Scratched Mirror
- I expect them to fiddle with the Vanity Mirror but I'm not certain how yet, but most likely increase it Rarity and no longer have it prevent one from reaching Tier-3. *But it would retain the same, short range wall hack.
- All the various pieces of glass are garbage so who knows what they will do with those.
-
I just don't think it is a good idea to assume the worst. I love Myers. I could care less what they do as long as they leave my Spooky Myers build alone (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo). My view is if they make more of his add ons worth using, that would be nice.

I wish I was able to share your optimism. This stream is the first incident where I´m legit pissed at them, especially at Ethan. This guy is completely out of touch with what´s going on in the game, he only cares about his precious statistics.
To some degree, he has to do that. We don't know what's going on in the game either. Until people decided to vent on the company over the Halloween Event, they have been at each other's throats in violent disagreement over the problems of the game for months. Everyone who is emotionally invested is biased and compromised. With that in mind, most game companies like this try to divest themselves of the emotional appeal and just go by statistics. I'm not saying it is the right thing to do in ever case, but I understand why the method exists.
-
As you know, I'm a Myer's exclusive Killer (at least until I get to Rank-1 with him), and I'm just not going to worry about this until it happens. There is no point in assuming they are going to do things wrong.

If these past events were so much fun, I dont unserstand why the devs just dont re-release these events every year.
did they lose the codes? what reason is there not to just make them constant yearly events?
Updates and changes, most specifically graphical updates. People forget that all these special events which have different graphics and whatnot interact with the maps. In the last 2+ months they have done graphic overalls of a lot of maps and simply loading the code from previous events could have all sorts of unexpected issues. New hills might overlaps old things (for just one example). To some degree you will notice this year's event has Blighted Hooks and Blighted Generators. This is because those are specific items that spawn and move about, i.e. their logistics in the new maps is known. They could create custom graphics for these and have them within specific dimensions without risk. That is also why the pus-flower things work the way they do now.
I feel bad for the DEV. I think people forget how much work goes into these graphical updates and new maps. I suspect that a LOT of their man hours have been going into that project and thus were not available for massive graphics for a Halloween event. More to the point, all that work they put into giving us newer, updated maps doesn't make them money (it just costs them money to do it) so I'm sure there are some of them (and rightfully so) thinking a lot of us sound rather ungrateful. I'm just trying to put this into context. All companies have a finite number of resources and man hours for projects. They set priorities. I could have made the same mistake myself. I would certainly have thought getting as many of the maps looking awesome and updated is more important than a single, limited time event.

I KNEW IT! I knew there was a reason the Pig is my Kryptonite! It clearly isn't just me.
-
I want to start by saying, that I don't think the event is broken. The fact that they haven't given us as much as last time isn't a big deal to me. If it isn't broken, I don't know that it needs fixing. All that being said, I wouldn't be shocked if there were some surprises built into this event, i.e. things to be revealed later as we near Halloween. I doubt they expected this kind of backlash for wanting to work things in as surprises. I could be wrong of course, and nothing beyond what is know manifests. And if that is the case, I'm find with it. I just think people should reset their expectations. If something surprising comes later you can enjoy it. If it doesn't, you aren't let down.
-
I used to hate this map, and I want to stress "used" to hate it. It grew on me, both as a Survivor and as a Killer. Full disclosure, I play Myers as my exclusive Killer, and whenever possible I play Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo). I find he is extremely effective on that map because sweeping the entire map using the Wall Hack is easily accomplished. As as Survivor I'm not the strongest Looper, but I am good at hide and seek and Midwich is pretty good for that.
