To the Hillbilly that found this Dwight stuck ON THE TOP of the hungry hill, thanks for letting me out. Don’t even know how or what I got stuck on at the top of the hill, but thanks, killer, for getting me loose and letting me out!
Courtesy of Lovecraft:
VII. Zaman’s Hill
The great hill hung close over the old town,
A precipice against the main street’s end;
Green, tall, and wooded, looking darkly down
Upon the steeple at the highway bend.
Two hundred years the whispers had been heard
About what happened on the man-shunned slope—
Tales of an oddly mangled deer or bird,
Or of lost boys whose kin had ceased to hope.
One day the mail-man found no village there,
Nor were its folk or houses seen again;
People came out from Aylesbury to stare—
Yet they all told the mail-man it was plain
That he was mad for saying he had spied
The great hill’s gluttonous eyes, and jaws stretched wide.

"You may dislike it, but you may not want to bring it up if you want to continue being part of this community"
Thos is the most painful part of this whole post. It's like we're in some fascist regime.
"You may not want to persecute the jews but you may have to if you want to be part of our community."
This is extreme hyperbole ofcourse but it's the same principle. Both cases are bad (yes one more so than the other) and we're just supposed to take it and eat the ######### they serve us.
BHVR needs to get their ######### together instead of silencing those who actually care enough about this community to weed out the toxic shits in high places risking bans. You making this post and the comments made say a lot about the community itself and the blind eyes people turn toward the behaviour of its management.
This is not some a fascist regime. This is a private club. You agreed to the terms (as did everyone else) when you signed up to this Forum. Nobody is impinging on your free speech. You are free to go form your OWN club, put up your own forum, and set your own rules. Comparing this situation, a forum (which people join of their own free will, agree to the rules, and can leave at any time) to real world persecution is deeply offensive. The fact that you don't even understand the depth of what you just implied over something that is not only apples and oranges, but also unimportant, demonstrates a total lack of social skills and/or understanding of basic ethics.

What is something specific you're working on improving? Not just "Gittin' Gud" - I daresay we're all working at that. No, what's a general or specific skill you're currently out to pick up?
Personally, I'm working on my Slinger. All of it. Shots, tactics, the whole thing. I spent I-dont-know-how-long playing nothing but Blight and whomever I had dailies for, and now I just cannot for the life of me hit a shot. Embarrassing, especially for someone that's a half-Slinger main. So, I'm trying real hard to relearn everything I've forgotten, which as it turns out is a lot of muscle memory that mysteriously went out the window and got replaced with an insane desire to repeatedly slam my face into walls.
Looping. I'm terrible at it. I can't use a flashlight worth spit either, but one can get by without that skill. Looping, on the other hand, is a basic necessity. I think I've peaked as a Survivor (I am stuck between 6-8) until I can get better at this. I know it is possible because when I'm the Killer I get led quite the merry chase by some incredible Survivors who seem to defy logic. That is what I want.

Well said. This argument is very common from people that for some reason don't want that changed. So they just come with this rhetoric to dismiss your argument by saying that the problem is not with camping/tunelling the problem is in the lack of skills from those that complain about it.
The problem is you are confusing an "argument" with a "fact." This is the game. The DEV have stated time and time again that camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are part of the game. They have stated that they are valid tactics. I'm not making an argument, I'm simply restating the reality of the game. Facts are used to support an argument. I haven't made one. I offered you advice. I suggest that people who seem to want to scapegoat their problems on the game or other players are missing the forest for the trees.
Remember, the first step is admitting you have a problem. You, for example, in another discussion we had refused to admit even to the "possibility" that your play style might be part of your problem. According to you, you are a perfect player who has no room for improvement. It isn't you that is crazy, it is the rest of the world. Do you see my point? There are games I lose all the time. I don't look for excuses, I look for solutions that "I" can implement. It is a better use of your time.
Otz has a great video on how not to get tilted playing this game; I strongly suggest you (and anyone else having a problem) watch it. Great advice is out there on how to keep your composure and how to get better at this game. Surely you don't compare yourself to Otz? I can understand why you might not think "I" have anything to aid you with, but surely you would admit that Otz, Monto, StalkyBoi, and their lot can give you some pointers that might (just might) help you out?
We all get camped, tunneled, slugged, and the Mori from time to time. It seems to be happening more often because you don't remember the times it doesn't. You fixate on the negative. Consider this:
- It isn't happening as much as you think, or SAY it is.
- You do have to accept responsibility that you are part of the equation.
- It is YOU who are making an argument, not those of us who have accepted the way the game works.
If you want to take some time and be extremely bored, go back through the posts let's say a year or two and count HOW MANY threads there are that sound just like yours and the OP of this one. See if you can find a day that goes by without there being someone sounding like a broken record. The answer is always the same. It isn't going to change.

So basically your advice on how to solve this guys complaint is only play with an aggressive SWF team, because everyone else can just suffer. Because upping your game as a solo is never going to combat the hard-core tunnels in 3/4 of the games. A little over 2 years and 2000 hours ago I was winning and losing about 50/50, these days my rank is much better and I can play half a dozen games and get out of maybe 1 or 2. I don't think for one minute that my game play skills have somehow grown way worse since I was a new player. Tunneling is a plague on this game and should be dealt with. I don't even think major changes need to take place. I think Borrowed Time should not be a perk bit a base kit item for every survivor, basically making tunneling more difficult with a lower pay-off. It at least gives the survivor a chance to get farther than their feet touching the ground before they are down again.
Please don't put words into my mouth. I never mentioned a SWF. I play Solo Que myself. I didn't offer any advice, because the OP didn't ask for any. He simply demanded what he wanted to happen and lamented his lot in the game. I don't get tunneled and camped 3/4 of my games, so I find it somewhat dubious when I hear people claim that. I know a lot of people who play and that number simply doesn't add up. At some points people have to start taking responsibility for their own losses, and quit trying to blame them on other Players or the game.

I think it could be implemented just fine, like so many other things they do. In fact, I think it is only a matter of time. So, we will probably get to see which of us is right.

It is filled with bugs. I do agree 100% that it does suck when you are a survivor and a teammate DCs and I do want some kind of penalty system in place but only after the devs can patch this mess of a game. I hop on tonight for some fun Halloween games. FIrst game- survivor gets stuck on hill and in the second game I am stuttering like crazy and cant even do chases because I start teleporting. And its not just me, the survivors I played against said they were having the same problem during the match. Just two days ago I had a match where the stupid grab glitch ruined my game. So this is my problem. Waiting for a stupid DC timer to end because I didn't want to endure this mess. Anyways, sorry for the rant but I needed to get this out since my halloween night is being pooped on so far.
It can, it does, and it will continue to have them as long as people keep breaking the rules and disconnecting for silly reasons. The majority of DC are for people throwing tantrums, not real life emergencies and not the odd internet crash. Sort yourselves out and then come back and play.

The past few months of solo playing has made me consider playing only swf I feel like I’m doing most of the work and I’m almost always at the top of the leaderboard..it’s also extremely frustrating when my team mates go down within 5-15 seconds or drop pallets almost immediately or sit there and wait I just want a good ranking system
We few, we proud, we Solos in the face of adversity. :) I'm right there with you buddy. I play Solo and I have been unable to get below Rank-6 doing it. I go back and forth between 6-8 and have been there for quite some time. Unfortunately, until the SWF situation is dealt with by making them their own Que, we will continue to be swimming upstream. The things the DEV do to try and balance the SWF's 5th Perk (Comms) hit the Solo three times (if not more) as hard. What is worse, to most SWF we are merely "Red Shirts" in the classic Star Trek context. All that being said, the game is the game is the game. We didn't come here for it to be easy. I'm always willing to join someone's campfire and play Solo with them, i.e. we enter together and play without Comms. That way my Solo street cred can stay intact.

"Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone..."
Well, I'm not without sin in the context of this thread, far from it. I've had the Moderators warn me (rightfully so) and they have been kind enough to correct my worst trespasses. I believe in good sportsmanship, and I also believe in civilized discourse. I am genuinely embarrassed when I fall short. I think I need to correct a few misconceptions about what civilized discourse means, however, because I think the insanity of modern times has distorted things.
- I don't have to respect your opinion or your beliefs. I merely need to respect your right to have them. This is a significant difference that seems lost on many people. They see disagreement as a personal attack. Some people have taken their right to free speech to mean that their speech is equally valid. It is not.
- Passion is not a substitute for evidence. It doesn't matter how much you believe in things or how much your feelings are going to be hurt if we don't share your opinion; that is not evidence to support your cause.
- Personal attacks are not evidence. They add nothing to your argument. They are, in fact, one of the many fallacies. Ad Hominem is the name of this logical fallacy, and it is probably the most common one found on the Forum.
I could go on and on about fallacies, and perhaps one day I will, but I think we have hit the biggest one relevant to this thread. Instead, I want to give an example of the difference between respecting the speaker, while not having to respect his/her idiotic speech.
I sat on a committee once where we had to vote to grant permits to anyone wanting to do a parade, protest, etc. downtown in a specific area. Basically, we controlled the calendar, and we could prevent any such event we wanted simply by granting the permits in the order we saw fit, until the calendar was full. It gave us veto power. The rules of the committee were such that it took a unanimous vote to send anyone to the bottom of the line rather than in the order they applied. I'm sure you can see how this works out in most cases. I wasn't a big fan of the process but ninety-nine times out of a hundred we simply granted permits in the order they came. We were a pretty progressive group in a pretty progressive State.
One day we had a White Power group, basically some hideous combination of the Clan and Neo-Nazis, petition for their right to do a protest there. We voted and to the surprise of my peers I didn't make it unanimous. They asked me WHY would you want to let them go out there. I said, "I respect their right to free speech." I also said, that I would be (and did) getting together a counter-protest to stand out there and take a stand against it. In the end, over six hundred counter-protesters showed up to voice our disgust against the six Clan/Neo-Nazi types that showed up, took the lay of the land and decided after fifteen minutes that our town was not the best place to sell their bile or brand.
We were NOT respectful of their beliefs. We voiced exactly what we thought of them. My point is that we disrespected the hell out of their beliefs, tore them apart and laid them out for the crows. Not all beliefs are valid or worthy of respect. What is important is that we respected their right to have said beliefs. Do you see the fine line I'm drawing in the sand?
Now, let's get back to fun stuff. DbD is a GAME and the things which happen in it, as well as any injustices or opinions around it, are not worthy of the kind of angst and passion they get. Seriously, we have people screaming about how their rights and money are being stolen over a game. With all the real injustices in the world, I think a game which you choose to play (and had to agree to the terms to do it) and can walk away from at any time is not worthy of the angst. I actually get a little annoyed seeing people getting upset about THIS when I can look out the window and watch the news. THIS is where you spend your time and something worthy of venting indignation about?
All that being said, I think it is fine to give opinions here, vent your passions, and engage in debate. I just think ALL of us need to work a lot harder (remember I too have sinned) at doing it without engaging in logical fallacies. I think we can, with a little effort, tear apart the beliefs and arguments of those we are talking with without attacking them personally. I think it is even possible <GASP> to be friends with people whom you disagree with. I have many. I hope to have more.

You have been accusing me of "playing the victim" right from the start. That's pretty disrespectful in my world. But that is your whole argument isn't it? That I am doing something wrong and that if I just take some responsibilities for the killer camping and suck it up, like a tough man such as your self, all would be better.
I have responded your rhetorical question a thousand times. But here we go one last time: No it is not a problem with me. Other people seem to be bothered with this as well. But for you we are all a bunch of noobs that need to learn to be tough like you, right? Because you adapt and you are just fine, so everyone should do the same.
I don't like toxic gameplay. Adapting to toxicity seem to me an incredibly stupid idea. I much ratter have the game reward non-toxic gameplay so that the game environment slowly change for the better.
That is the difference between you and I. When I fail, I take responsibility for it. I don't scapegoat the game, other players, or anything else. I generally don't even use the word "toxic" because I think it has been made meaningless by anyone and everyone throwing it around for anything they don't like. I don't claim to be perfect; when I get killed, I know I'm AT LEAST 50% responsible (if not more).

Dude this is a problem with the game design, the only thing that I can do about it is asking the devs to change. I don't control the killer's decision. And I don't control how the game rewards their decision to camp.
Making the game harder for the killer won't make me happier. Even when I play around it and I escape the killer I am still annoyed by it. One thing that you are not understanding is that it is not about winning or losing, it is about this strategy being toxic. I have managed to escape some of those killers with most of my party, yet I did not have fun.
And my apologies if I assumed wrong and you are not a killer main. But if you are a survivor main and you are ok with camping and tunneling, good for you. Just respect people that disagree with you and are fed up with the game allowing toxic gameplay. I have sunk hundreds of hours into this game and I don't think that a couple of hundred more hours will change my opinion about it. I just get more and more annoyed that this behavior is getting worse by the day.
Dude, no its not. I suggest taking your cues from the man, the myth, Lebowski.... and abide. There is a difference between disagreeing with you and disrespecting you. Trust me, if I wanted to show you disrespect, I would take out a rhetorical sledgehammer and have my fun. What I'm doing is disagreeing with you EFFECTIVELY. Instead of answering the questions I asked, you are playing the victim. Don't you think it is "just possible" that perhaps there are things you could be doing differently? I'm not saying you will never get camped or tunneled. What I'm saying is that it won't happen to you "all the time" as you seem to say it does.

Please stop patronizing me or players that have the same opinion. A lot of people see this as a problem and it seems that you just cannot accept it for whatever reason (probably because you are a killer main that doesn't want changes) and want to dismiss our opinion as a lack of experience. Not everyone sees the game the same way you do. If you are ok with camping (again probably because you play as killer more often), good for you! But accept that other people see it differently and please treat our opinion with respect. Don't say to us that we have to suck it up or that we need to play more.
You know the old saying about assumptions right? I'm playing as a Survivor right now. I even play Solo Que, we few, we proud, we fighting an uphill battle. I log in just as many (if not more) hours as a Survivor. So again, are you going to take ANY responsibility for your problems at all? You are stating that your issue have nothing to do with you whatsoever, and that you play Survivor perfect? :)

Yeah sure, I am the only one complaining about it.
Complain away. Just don't expect people who deal with the same thing you do every day, and get by just fine, to have much sympathy. I have made suggestions as to how to make it more enticing to make Killers move off, i.e. don't try to punish them but rather reward leaving the Hook, sort of the Killer's version of Bold (what Survivors get for staying in the Killer's terror radius). I think that only by making it worth the Killer's time, will you ever see a significant shift. That or you could make Barbecue & Chili base package so that the Killers have a direction to go. Many don't move because they don't want to gamble with no target in sight.
I made these suggestions in good faith, but not because I think they are truly necessary. Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you. Everyone gets camped and tunneled now and then. If you find it happening to you constantly, well, I think you need to accept that you might somehow be a factor in it. People complain about it rather than accepting responsibility. Remember, the first step forward is to get out of denial and own one's own problems.
-
@stubbornDwarf said:
Again this argument that I am playing wrong. So many people complaining about it and they are just a bunch a noobs that need to learn something? Come on...
Look, I still think that it is a legitimate strategy and I am not asking for them to ban this strategy! What I am asking is simply that the devs make other strategies work better or make this strategy less viable. It is just not fun and ruins the game because killers abuse it. And I have been playing this game long enough to know that even red ranks do camping and tunneling (a lot) because it works. Even if sometimes it backfires, most of the time it works. So asking for the devs to balance this is too much to ask? Does it really call for a "you need to overcome your frustrations" speech?
Furthermore, I am not complaining about Mori or slugging here, so please stop patronizing me and generalizing my complaint. I am not a survivor main that wants to see the other side weaker so I can win. My feedback is specific about camping and tunneling, which is ruining the game (for me and other people as well). I don't think that slugging ruins the game.
And you know what, one thing you are right though, maybe I will stop playing it eventually if things don't change because I find myself playing less and less every time I enter the game and face killers like this. My friends are annoyed about this as well and other people in this forum are too. I may be wrong, but I don't think that the game will thrive if it frustrates more people than it pleases. This is a game, it is supposed to be entertaining and fun, not annoying and toxic. I don't play the game to overcome my frustrations and learn to deal with them, I play it to have fun.
If you and I face the same statistical chances of facing a camper or a tunneler, and I'm not having a problem, and you are... the inference is obvious. Plenty of people deal with the situation fine. At some point you have to face the fact that it YOU that is the common denominator of YOUR problem.

I CAN'T sort my internet out. There is NOTHING I can do.
The point to be made is every other multiplayer game allows reconnecting even when they are competitive. You simply take whatever disadvantage the DC caused and live with it. DBD has no method of reconnecting and will DC you from the game if you lose connection for just a few seconds. How can there be such a strict disconnect penalty when the infrastructure to prevent unintentional disconnects is so weak? Hell, you can't even say I'm ruining the game for other players when I only play killer and have DC'd almost exclusively when hooking the last survivor. I'm the only one taking a loss when it happens and I get punished for it. That punishment is without question necessary but need it be so severe when I'm giving free wins to survivors?
Then you will have to find another game. There are games I can't play because my system isn't up to the task. You are in the same boat for this one. Quit putting your own needs above everyone else. It is rude, selfish, and unrealistic. Go play the mobile app version of the game and get your fix there.
-
No, with all due respect, they don't have to do anything. Camping, tunneling, slugging, and the Mori are all valid tactics for the Killer to use. They are, by in large, niche tools that will hurt the Killer more than help if used incorrectly. All of us have been where you are now. We still manage to move forward. That means that there are people who are managing to get out of their games even with camping/tunneling/slugging/mori Killers out there.
The DEV don't have to do anything about it; you have to do something about it. You will, in time, up your game to deal with it and/or get a team of other Survivors who know how to work with you to do so. That is it. That is the entire enchilada. Nobody likes it when bad things happen to them. It is just part of this game. You adapt or you die. If you can't abide the way the game is played, you find one you like more.

I am currently having troubles with my I internet. My internet will go out for 10-30 seconds at random intervals. Sometimes this disconnects me; sometimes I reconnect and at worst have dropped whoever I was carrying to the hook because of the DC. Just hit the 24 hour penalty because of the times where I am disconnected. I have done everything within my power to fix this issue but have narrowed the possible causes down to the cable companies wiring in my house or an issue with their connections in my neighborhood. They will not come out to check for or fix the former because of covid and will not fix the latter until they get enough complaints.
I absolutely agree there should be a DC penalty and it should be significant but 24 hours or even more than that is absurd. Nobody is rage quitting so much that they hit this point but still continue to play every time their penalty is up and just do it again. Even if they do, they can only do it once every few days. That is massive overkill for the problem. 12 hours would be plenty to deter the rage quitters from doing their thing and be reasonable to allow people with genuine internet issues to at least try there luck at playing a game they love enough to work through their DC penalties. At the very least if they want to have such an extreme DC penalty they should allow people to reconnect if they are simply having short bursts of connectivity issues. Literally every other game I've played online since this problem began let's me reconnect with such a short time being disconnected.
Get your internet troubles sorted and then come back. It doesn't really matter WHY you are constantly disconnecting. The result is the same; you are ruining the match for four other people. That is the long and the short of it. The only way to get a LONG ban is to be disconnecting on a regular basis. Sort yourself out, whatever your problems may be, and come back when you can complete your games.

I feel like many people exaggerate how horrible and common these two things are in the forums. Like seriously, almost every game to the point where you don't really want to play the game anymore? Yeah I find that hard to believe, but who knows? I might be wrong which is why I am posting this discussion. If possible, provide a possible reason as to why you were tunneled and/or camped.
I have been tunneled and camped pretty hardcore before for being considered "toxic" or just for literally no reason sometimes. However, it is usually 1/20 games for me. Usually if the killer tunnels me and I know that he/she will not stop I will use all the resources I need so that everyone else remaining can escape. If the killer camps, I stay on hook without struggling (because I have kindred) so that my team will know what is happening and they can finish the match and move on.
Not trying to start a war, just curious as to how common camping and tunneling are for you. Please include things like rank or playstyle such as being a rank 9-13 or tbagging a little bit (tbagging is ok IMO, just don't get upset with the consequences) along with flashlight saving.
I've no idea, as I certainly don't keep track. I don't tunnel in the traditional sense. I simply hit whomever pops back up in front of me. If it happens to be the same person I had on the hook before, that is on them. More to the point, I'd rather get DS out of the way early so I'm not hesitant at all about downing the same person if/when they simply are the next person I see. So, it isn't really a strategy or a plan. If it isn't by intent, it isn't tunneling. It is simply their bad luck.
I don't camp without intent. Sometimes I do it to lure other people in and sometimes there is little else to do if it is late game and all the Generators are done our lost (about to be done and I can't get to them). Why go somewhere else when the only objectives I have left are nearby. All in all, I'd say I camp every half a dozen games or so. Normally I'm in a position where it isn't necessary. Bear in mind that I am excluding any situation where I KNOW their are Survivors nearby. I'm not camping if my new prey is already there. They can't expect me to leave to look for them when I already know where they are located.

Thank you for the kind words. When I'm more awake I'll have to give this thread some thought as there are so many good posters here.

I only have three rules:
- Don't cheat, either with hacks or lag spikes.
- Don't disconnect; if I start a game, I finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
I don't really have specific qualifiers for life/death in the game. I decide that kind of stuff on the fly.

I’m new to the game and bought it because it seemed fun, especially the killer role. But I have really bad anxiety and didn’t anticipate how stressful it could be. My first game put me against purple ranked survivors. I hit three people the entire game. No downs. No hooks. I chose Billy and kept running into things, lol. I figured it was because I was new and they were so above my rank, so I tried again even though that experience was awful.
Luckily, after that first game, I somewhat consistently got at least two other grey/yellow ranked people. I managed to get to rank 13 with Huntress and only Huntress. But it’s mostly because new players literally run in a straight line. It wasn't long before I ended up encountering people who knew how to dodge, and I realized I’m a terrible Huntress. It's kind of amazing how bad I am at hitting targets.
So, how long did it take you guys to get to a point where you were at least semi-confident in yourself? Who did you start out with?
I’m not complaining about being bad, by the way. I didn’t expect to be a pro on my first few tries, and I sincerely don’t care about losing. I'm just asking because I feel extraordinarily bad. Like, worse than average. And it's kind of discouraging. It would just be nice to know about everyone else's journey into becoming a decent killer main.
And, side note, I really wish they had a tutorial mode for each killer.
I'll tell you when I get there. :)

Releasing exclusive content just for stream viewers is the most UNFAIR thing ever. Some of us actually have a life and use our free time to PLAY THE GAME, not watching others do so...
Are you gonna release exclusive content just for non stream viewers too? How about if I actually don't like the streamers or youtubers of your choosing...?
Damn... I just found out about the Voodoo Dwight and it's quite an awful thing for an actual good cosmetic for my hooks to be "viewers exclusive"...

I’ve been playing this game for only four months and I’ve already gotten bored and frustrated with it. With all the camping killers, tunneling killers, and stupid teammates there’s no way I can have fun anymore. Unless you have a key or specific perks you can’t have fun in soloq. And I have no friends to play swf with so I’ve got nothing. Honestly I’m so close to being done with this game. Either BHVR needs to actually balance this game or they’re going to lose a ton more fans like they’re losing me
No you don't. You need a reason for why you are making us watch your woe-as-me exit. One day I will be bored with the game too, and I will quietly (with dignity) exit stage left. If you aren't having fun, go find one where you will.

Well... I know this isn't what you mean... but I have met a Dean Winchester in the game and he is AWESOME. He kicked my but when I was Killer, carrying his whole team, and when I was in a match as a Survivor with him, he was the most effective (and most altruistic) Player I'd ever seen. :)

Gee would be nice of them to actually help but most survivors are SWF and only look out for their pals and I'm going to help them but they leave me to die oh well guess I should just leave everyone on the hook then lol
I agree, that is frustrating. However, that is NOT an issue with the Basement. It is an issue (like MOST of the issues facing this game) with the SWF. They are bad news for anyone not in their group. For most 3-Person SWF the other guy is basically a "Red Shirt" from Star Trek, someone to be utilized a abandoned when no longer useful. I'm all for talking about the SWF, but this thread is about the basement, and it isn't really a problem. It is just a specific thing to work into your routine, just like some long, safe Loops are the strong points for Survivors. Heck, the Killer Shack itself is a mixed bag because it is a very strong loop for Survivors until the God Pallet is dropped. :)

The misconception, that I believe many people have, is that the DEV are looking strictly at survival ratios to make their determinations. That is clearly incorrect. The game measures things on many different levels. You can die in a match and still score lots of BP and Pip up. The Killer can get a 4K and still lose a Pip? Do you follow? This game isn't about a specific match. They are looking at how people progress and count a game as a win for you if you Pip up. They are counting it as a wash for you if you don't Pip, and if you Pip down that is really the only way you are considered to be losing. It isn't tied strictly to the live/die ratio.
People focus on those numbers, but the DEV do not.

Because Killers keep getting buffed and nothing is being done about camping killers who don't know how to play the game people are calling it quits. Ever wonder why you can get into a lobby much faster as survivor instead of killer now? That's because no one likes playing survivor anymore because the Devs are pro killer. Looks like you have the Blight to thank and his OP Hex Undying perk that makes it a real pain with Hex Ruin all over again. Don't have to take my word for it. Charts don't lie and since you don't care about suggestions I'll find a new game to play bye! https://steamcharts.com/app/381210
Your experience is very different from me. In my region, I wait far longer as a Survivor. As a Killer I'm usually in within a minute.
-
I tend to say "GG... hard fought... well played... etc." I try to be a bit more expansive so they know I'm serious. Just because I 3-4K a team doesn't mean I'm not honest in thinking it was good game, or that I didn't see some good moves. In every game I play there is almost always something I can speak about nicely.
And in those games where I get my butt handed to me, I'm still going to say "GG.... you had my number.... or damn, you are a monster. I'll give you a better challenge next time." The minimum is say nothing at all, GG is at least polite, and GG with some expansion is great.
The only time I feel compelled, these days, to be critical is when people DC leaving their team to rot, or when I catch people Smurfing. I consider it unethical. At the very least, if one is Smurfing to TEACH friends how to play, you should be ready, willing, and able to be be the bait and get killed for the Killer. My gal is trying to learn Killer and keeps getting these matches with 1-2 Red Rank Killers coming in with an entourage of 16-20 in a SWF. Don't do this, or if you do, make sure you aren't just teaching your entourage. Help the Killer out too rather than making them wonder why they bother playing. I can spot a Red Rank mixed in with others these days just by watching them move and what they do for twenty seconds. I tag in whenever I see it and give them a nasty surprise.

@buttercake made a beautiful post about the unicorn charm that goes along with this topic
I agree, all charms should be universal, I want that unicorn on my Quentin so bad :') for items that are so minor and inconsequential, there's really no reason for them to be locked to a role. Also, if I spend 12 hours trying to unlock dwight crow on console, I should be able to put it on my dwight 😤 make it happen bhvr
For Pete's sake. BHVR has far more important things to waste man hours on. Not everyone gets every thing.

Perhaps I just don't believe in leaving people behind whilst the significant majority of crybabies suicide instead. Perhaps I don't pretend that everyone is lucky enough to be near a server. And perhaps I long ago accepted that this is not a competitive game and so everyone should be welcome to interact regardless of their financial situation.
And for that tiny minority that are simply out of luck, guess what... there are some awesome games that "I" cannot play because my system cannot handle them. It is unfortunate and one day I hope to have a system that can take it... but until then... I just play other games (like this one). Those Players will have to make peace with the same thing I did.

And I think this is admirable, but it is also a tiny minority of the people having this problem. The DC penalty is getting applied against people who are choosing to disconnect. I've gotten the 5 minute penalty myself when I stupidly kicked my surge protector and took my own system down. My stupidity caused other people inconvenience. I paid my 5 minutes of time and moved on.
The people being punished are deserving of that punishment.

Personally I always thought the Pig should have no Hooks whatsoever, and have entirely replaced them with Saw Stations. She should only go by Bear Traps, and she patrols the stations rather than hooks. *There would just be a lot more stations and an adjusted time. In short, she sacrifices via bear traps. She puts it on you and then you try to get them off. But hey, I'm a purist for the various killers. I know this won't happen. I just think it is odd to put bear traps on a person and then hook them.

And what about crashes and server disconnects that give out the exact same punishment as a DC?
Not to sound cold, but what about them? If someone is having these things happen often enough to create really long bans, I simply don't believe it. If it is their system crashing, they need to get ti sorted before trying again. If it is a Server crash (on BHVR's side) a WHOLE LOT OF US would know about it. If it is a Server providing his Internet, find a new provider.

I do think it needs to be tweaked, but neither a Nerf or a Buff. I think it needs something of a compromise. I think it should work as follows:
- DS triggers every time a Survivor is unhooked and can be used throughout the match.
- There is no time limit on its use but it ends the second the Survivor interacts with his/her environment in any way such as repairing, mending, healing, being healed, being snapped out of something, recovering from madness, etc. The only thing that would not end it is things like vaulting because that is a chase action. Thus you can sit and hide as long as you like with DS as an option but you no longer can do anything productive.
- DS automatically shuts down the second the End Game Collapse begins.
- I think how quickly the Skill Check happens should be more random, however, so if you are downed right by a Hook it might not be in time.
Basically, my compromise would make DS be usable after every hook and remove the timer. However, it would also prevent any actions whatsoever beyond simply running and hiding or it shuts off (and disables during the Endgame collapse).

I can understand a need for the DC penalty to prevent people from disconnecting on purpose. But I don’t think it needs to go to 48 hours or beyond to get the message across. A few hours is enough to keep people from doing it or at least give them a clean slate after a period of time. I don’t appreciate not being able to play the game I’ve never felt so stomped on as a player in any other video game than this one. Even those with DC penalties at least allow you to rejoin and avoid the penalty in the case that it was on accident. I think if there was a way to compensate the killer for being gone it would totally be doable. For instance maybe start depleting the sacrificial timer until the survivor returns to the match. Once that timer is up then the survivor is completely removed from the game and that’s where the ban would then go into effect.
With all due respect, you don't get to that level of a Ban without a consistent pattern of disconnecting. Clearly the message didn't get through if someone has reached that level of a Ban. Such people need to get their system requirements, internet, or themselves sorted before playing again.

As a Killer (I play Spooky Myers whenever I can) I prefer "The Game," Hawkins, Midwich, Lerys, and the Swamps (in that order). I hate Rotten Fields (but the other Cold Wind are fine).
As a Survivor, I don't really hate any of them.

Why is there only one entrance to the basement just been camped by a ghost face because he was hiding down there waiting for us all to go for the save killer mains can't expect to be good if they camp in the basement and Devs should fix that by adding another set of stairs going down there otherwise you have this issue!
Ah... the clarion call of the new Survivor. The Basement is the strongest point on the map for the Killer. If you don't want to end up down there, avoid it, or only go for it when you know the Killer is somewhere else. It is supposed to be strong, a nightmare. There are entire Builds (and Perks specifically designed) for the Basement dwelling Killer.
You can get in and out of the basement but it takes either good timing, luck, or a dedicated effort by multiple Survivors if you have a Dungeon Dweller. It can be done. It just take practice. But the best option is to avoid getting stuck down there in the first place. When running and looping, take yourself away from the Basement so the Killer can't get you down there without you struggling out. *Or your pals could body block, blind, and help by tempting and slowing the Killer down enroute.

new player but im liking myers a lot :) what you think
It depends entirely on "which" Michael Myers you are bringing to play. I define them as follows:
SPOOKY MYERS: (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo) *Cannot get beyond Tiier-1 and usually needs a Map Offering
MEDIOCRE MYERS: (Vanity Mirror+Whatever) *Cannot get beyond Tier-2
MANIAC MYERS: *Any Build that can get to Tier-3
----------------------------------
You can tell by the bias in the names I use that I don't care much for Mediocre Myers. These guys operate in very different ways and the Perks I use for them vary. Although, I do have some common denominators.
SPOOKY MYERS: Hex: Undying, Hex: Ruin, Play With your Food, & Iron Maiden or Sloppy Butcher
Spooky Myers tends to put in a Map Offering for one of a relatively small number of maps that are really favorable to him. If he pulls a big map, you have one hell of a hard game ahead of you. The smaller maps he likes, or constrained, often have Lockers used frequently and thus Iron Maiden turns out to be a rather surprising, useful Insta-Down Perk. You always take Play With Your Food because IF your Map Offering gets blocked or beat out, you NEED that Perk to have any chance on a big map. Undying+Ruin are just great for him whether he is on a large or small map (pivotal if he ends up on the large map).
MEDIOCRE MYERS: Hex: Undying, Hex: Devour Hope or Haunted Ground, Barbecue & Chili, Pop Goes the Weasel
You might as well play this guy the same as a Spooky and put in a Map Offering. He is faster so you don't have to take Play With Your Food, but you might as well give him some Insta-Down capability. I like Devour Hope or Haunted Ground, but if you have neither of those Iron Maiden works too, particularly if you are using Map Offerings.
MANIAC MYERS: Hex: Undying, Hex: Ruin, Hex: Thrill of the Hunt, and Dark Devotion
This guy is the one you see the most often, and my favorite Add-On(s) are Dead Rabbit+Hair Bow (or Fragrant Tuft of Hair). Sometimes I swap out Dark Devotion for Surveillance if I think I'm facing a SWF. You need every bit of info you can get to tighten up those patrols. This Build lets me slow things down and uses the Totems as aura/alarms to locate the Survivors really fast. Because of Ruin they will try to cleanse them if you keep normal pressure. I tend to have my first explosion and/or aura in the first 15 seconds of the game. I make a beeline for it and can usually get that first grab. You usually have found the group or at least half of them. You can Stalk up to Tier-2 and still have a smaller than normal Terror Radius. The Dark Devotion is a lot of fun and effective if you 99 your Tier-3 and then go all the way as you down someone and hit them with a normal attack to Insta-Down. They will sit on the hook and everyone will assume you are camping them, while you move off. Always depart behind the hooked one so they don't figure it out. They will think you are behind them. You can slug the crud out of people who know you went to Tier-3 and are getting lax in watching for you because they don't hear the heartbeat.

Hello, 30 minutes ago, I've found 3 other survivors and a killer, the game starts and one minute after this, the killer rage quit I don't know why but ... I think that's ok ? I mean, that is not a murder or anything so never mind. The problem is that I have had a prohibition to play for 1H even if it is the killer who left the game ... ######### ?? That make no sense, I have seen the end game menu, then, I've returned to the main menu and I've seen this ... yes, I'm angry so I say here that I am ... that's all, thanks for reading and good day/night. 😐
You don't get an hour ban without a pattern of disconnects. Perhaps you don't think you disconnected, but your internet might have gone and what you saw doesn't match the reality of what everyone else (or the system) tracked. It sounds like you need to get your personal system requirements and/or internet sorted before continuing to play before you end up with an even longer ban.
-
They are doing what they do best, provide entertainment and free exposure to the game. Some of them make suggestions in their videos or comment on the state of things, but most of what they say... the "whispering" part... is going to be behind closed doors. I think all them have been fairly honest in their assessments, and I've never seen the ones I watch suggest anything particularly nasty. In fact, I've seen them demonstrate (contrary to their funny commentaries) some of the best Killer and Survivor strategies and altruism in the game.

So I started playing The Shape, and it was pretty fun, so I started maining him. Now this was fine until I got to rank 10. The matches were really hard, but I got through. Once I got to rank 9 though, it was basically impossible. Can someone tell me why this is?
Trust me, you will get there. You are at a tipping point. I hit the same wall. For the longest time I just couldn't get below that point. Myers has a tough learning curve and when dealing with the SWF it gets worse. You just focus on basics, tightening up those chases, mind games, and learning to slug. You play Spooky Myers when you have the right maps. You will get there. I never get to play against anyone but Red Rank Survivors anymore, with the odd Purple sneaking in. You are starting to hit that barrier now. Basics, basics, basics. Myers has a more narrow margin of error and thus you simply cannot waste any movement.

I'm relatively new (think I have about 350 hours in). I play survivor way more than killer but I like both.
As killer, I will pick 3 gens relatively close together and patrol those the most. I'll travel outwards of course but try to stick to those 3 gens to make it easier to patrol.
Serious question, by forcing a 3gen, is that toxic?
No. That is simply a tactic. You would be well-served to simply purge the word "toxic" from your vocabulary and ignore anyone who throws it around. It is, at this point, a meaningless word. And for what it is worth, while you can increase the odds of a 3-Gen taking place, it is the Survivors that ultimately decide if they are 3-Gen'd or not. That isn't on you.

Just put together some custom games with your friends and you can have them be any Killer you want and stage the Mori to your heart's content.
