  • overall better games for both sides

i still get some matches that I think are already determined just by the players in the match but i do have more matches where I actually have a Chance of winning or losing depending on how I perform.

  • I am just a little bit optimistic and judge this game by what it is. A game.

  • Well then SBMM might actually help balancing the game because the statistics will also represent these imbalances etc.

  • Judging by licensed chars in other games the chars would probably be Daryl (maybe Rick?) and Michonne.

I would love to see Carol, Maggie and Glenn however…

Killer could be Beta/Alpha with Zombies That work differently to Nemesis‘. But I guess Negan is more popular (and could bring a Governor legendary)

  • Gonna go with VHS, though some of the weapons of the teens seem already obnoxious.

I don’t know what was going on in that Carnival Hunt trailer? Might be interesting..

the rest I don’t have any interest in..

Oh man Idk where to find it. Maybe 4th anniversary stream? to long ago

Pretty sure it was the anniversary stream..

  • Yeah they talked about it. But I am pretty sure they never promised to deliver anything..

  • @ReverseVelocity said:

I personally think chains should still be able to spawn while you're solving the box. You see the box's aura for the entire time it's spawned. If you neglect the box long enough for a chain hunt to start, making the box harder to solve should be part of the punishment, as it gives it more of a sense of urgency. Besides, it doesn't make it impossible to solve, just a quite bit more time consuming.

Based on RNG there could be instances where it would become impossible though, especially with the addon that increases the time needed to solve the box.

  • @Seraphor said:

From my experience, chains don't spawn when solving the box, but they do spawn the instant before you start solving it, and take a second or so before they hit you, so you can very easily be caught off guard.

This is how it is supposed to work!

there is a bug report on this however and I have seen it happening myself that chains can appear well after you started solving the Box.

Yes, I don't care about the representation hole you were digging me into. This is different now I'm just having fun with you.

    Sure you are.

(also you were digging yourself, no input needed from my side)

  • getting personal already? You really don’t care at all it seems

    Thanks. Yeah, it does^^

But also bear in mind that even the smallest of things takes bhvr literal years to do so hopefully they get to creating their own lgbtqia+ character before the game´s life cycle has ended lol

LOL yeah true about them taking time for anything.

but personally I am very patient and they can take their time (though I do have a feeling the next surv might be it, while also introducing Boon totems, this would be actually great as no one could argue they are only advertised as a token character but they actually bring a new game mechanic in)

I just played a match while you guys are busy whining about my opinion.

    Sbmm is pretty wack.

I got some real life stuff done while you are busy about showing how much you don’t care. Thx for the info though.

  • No I am not getting mad :)

just stating what I see. Well I did match your tone I guess. It’s something I usually do so people see how their message came across.

Well I personally wouldn't see it as exclusion if a game only has hetero sexual characters. It's by far the most common sexual orientation, and video game devs aren't forced to try to cover up all forms of sexual orientations or genders.

But if they said they wanted to add an LGBT character a while ago already, than of course it would be nice if they actually did so in the near future.

well... the devs used to say they wont add LGBTQ+ characters because they want their chars to be portrayed more 'open' and that people could project however they like... BUT they actually have confirmed multiple heterosexual relationships despite their statements so they were contradicting themselves and heterosexuality was included while LGBTQ+ on any sort was (unintentionally) excluded.

i mean.. it happens. stuff like Nurse having a husband is just something bound to be revealed in the backstorys of this kind of game. they have seen their 'mistake' on it and acted on it. and i am very sure that they would have added relationships etc. even if they never had heterosexual relations added before since they have been gradually gotten deeper and wider with their backstories whatsoever.

If you don´t mind me asking, why is it important to you if the gay representation comes from a license? I just read it up and he has a confirmed backstory and all.

as far as i am aware, BHVR has confirmed they are working on including an LGBTQ+ character of their own creation (while working with Gaymer on doing it the right way).

in the end, i dont care about what representation we get whatsoever, i am already very content with the character cast as is and as long as they dont exlcude just because. so i am happy with how things are.

for licenses like Hellraiser and CryptTV where the representation is through killers and moreso non-humans in some way its cool that they are there and they probably have great lore in their media.... but i havent seen those or really care about them.. and i dont need them to be the representation because we will get BHVRs own creation after all.

    hope that makes sense^^

Wow people care about which character prefers to pork who and who?

Yeah I don't care. The topic came up and I gave my piece, I think it's dumb that the ideas is being shaped in mind because they HAVE to include a group is just mad to me but whatever.

Wow, you actually care about what other people care about in the media they enjoy?

if you dont care, then act like it. and statements like "what the hell" or asking in such a way if people care about it show me that you do care.

and my main point was that they shoudlnt exclude a group just for exclusions sake.

Wait so Chatterer is not gay? I faintly remember having seen a discussion about that a few days ago.

i.. dont really care if he is? he is a licensed character and thus not a BHVR creation. people are arguing that he isnt even human anymore after changning to be a Cenobite etc. Also we have confimed licensed killers/monsters in the CryptTV cast.

  • @ad19970 said:

I probably still won't ever understand why sexual orientation is important with characters in video games. Although I guess it wouldn't hurt to have a LGTB survivor.

they are well-established characters with multiple traits and many mentioned relationships of any sort.

including sexual orientation may not have been important, but we already have heterosexual relationships, so there is no need for exlcusion of LGBTQ+ anymore.

Also the creators have stated they want to be inclusive and add them in their story.

  • @Myla said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2491438#Comment_2491438

Exclusion what the hell? On a video game? LMFAO.

I thought people just cares to you know play the damn game and maybe look cool with cosmetics?

this videogame has plenty of backstory and lore on the characters and there are people that care about that naturally.

we are talking about media here, videogames are that after all. and BHVR has already said they (uninentionally) have excluded anything LGBTQ+ and they regret the way they handeled it.

you are not forced to care btw. even if the gays will be included it wont make any difference on gameplay whatsoever, so chill.

  • @Myla said:

Why the hell does it matter if the character is this race or if he's gay and whatever?

it matters because explicit exclusion shouldnt be a thing when we already have several confirmed heterosexual relationships mentioned.

  • @Apollos said:

I think Behavior is just another company that gets on the pride month bandwagon. They'll highlight drag queens and "sassy" characters because it's the media's portrayal of LGBT and it's fun to fawn over, but I don't actually see them doing justice for anyone that doesn't fit that mold. I just imagine them creating a character much like the whole Iceman debacle and that won't be good.

I'd like to see more male characters too, but the sad reality is that DBD is a fashion game and fashion games always prioritize female characters. People are begging for shirtless Dwight, Felix, and Jeff all the time (speaking of what the gays want lol), but they always give some lame excuse about how it can't work while giving Feng another e-girl outfit.

And as far as pricing and variety goes, don't even get me started. A HUGE problem with cosmetics is that they aren't designed with mixing and matching in mind. They like to make outfit sets that only really work with themselves, so it becomes really difficult to make something that looks put together. The pricing on Jill's head is really bad, along with all of the very rare sets they keep pushing. The worst contender with that is Meg, surprisingly. The majority of her cosmetics are very rare and auric cell exclusives. And what about all of those rift cosmetics that aren't in complete sets? Forget about it because they're not profitable.

BHVR actually has shown support to the LGBTQ+ community outside of pride month and is one of the communitys that doesnt seem to throw away their logo at the end of the month and then ignore the community (though they do change their logo, not the point here).

And you cant judge how they are portraying their LGBTQ+ char in-game because they are not revealed yet..

VHS The Game - Likely DoA like most up-and-coming competitors.

Pretty sure the only type of game that's going to have a chance at competing with DbD is gonna be a game made by a company with a huge budget.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Resident Evil asymm game as a failed competitor.

i disagree that only bigger company’s have a chance. The community is asking for similar games and if the implementation is actually good then it has potential. The thing is, all of these types of games have done pretty terrible decisions and those are even worse than what people say about BHVR‘s decisions..

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I think that, yes, it could be a potential competitor but it's important to realise that DBD and VHS' similarities are a 4v1 game in the horror genre. That's it. Survivors have passives in VHS, not in DBD. The win conditions are vastly different too- survivors must fight back against the killer in VHS, there is literally no other way to win, while killers just need to incapacitate or kill all 4 survivors.

It's better to compare it to HSH:S or LY:TN than DBD because it is far closer to those games in terms of design.

It could be competition- and lord knows a lot of the playerbase have already invaded their Discord server- but I'd rather rate the game on it's own merits, and what it brings to the table, than just "POTENTIAL DBD COMPETITOR".

(But yes, I am very excited for it, and at least it's free to play).

To be fair, I have only ever judged HSHS and LY:TN as DbD-look-a-likes as well.

maybe ‚competitor‘ was the wrong word though but that’s how i saw those two (and I think DbD existing is big factor in why those 2 failed..)

this one will most likely be the first I will try first hands because it’s gonna be free to play.

  • Letting yourself get healed and letting yourself get unhooked should also grant some BP in Survival. Incentivizing not healing in the corner and not jumping in someone’s face a little bit…

That's a poll on a website that only very dedicated players will ever hear or see this website I'm talking about everywhere on the internet, on YouTube, on reddit, on private discord everywhere you see more disapprovement then you do people having a good experience

and there you have the content creators and their following that are used to getting easy matches where they stomped the casuals. Those are now more often matched against more skillful people and they actually have to play the game..

in the end, you don’t See the actual big data results and statistics and it actually seems like you would ignore that either way if confronted with it and it wouldn’t match your view…

  • According to this poll it’s pretty even, with most of the people choosing ‚don’t Know‘

    @HaunterofShadows said:

It doesn't, though. I've had several matches where I dodge the chains, start solving the box, and more spawn to interrupt me, over and over again. It's not just immediate, either -- I can be 25% of the way into the solve and chains will spawn to interrupt me.

If you got a clip, attach it to the bug report I linked right above your post!

  • You did all good!

But who is Jacob? (I guess you mean Jake^^)

  • Yes it is bugged. This is mentioned in the patch note of the chapter release this the devs are aware and it will probably get fixed with the next Bugfix patch

  • @Ludicris said:

"That's fine I didn't want us to use Borrowed Time, or We'll Make It either. Let's just heal now - Slow and defenseless"

    "Ah, Mangled. Even better."

As someone who almost always runs these perks as well as WGLF (at least one of the three) I hate those that jump/try to jump into my face.

either way I think letting yourself get unhooked and letting yourself get healed should score some BP in the Survival category. Thus incentivizing letting yourself get healed instead of self caring in a corner as well not trying to unhook yourself if there is someone RIGHT there that can help you.

  • It’s mentioned in the patch notes as a known issue.

should be fixed with the next bug fix patch, which could come next Tuesday (no confirmed date for this though, may come later)

  • It was mentioned in the in-game desciption that survs can use full totems to create boon totems. So i guess if the killer runs 4 Hexes (one of them Haunted) the survs can’t use their boons. Part of the risk of boons.

though of course it could be interesting if they actually reworked some of the game mechanics.

  • @liquidlight said:

I can upload another where I'm not being healed (where no one is around me at all) and I still can't complete or even get remotely close to completing the box because the chains keep attacking me. So, no that's not true.

Could you upload that other video to this bug report, apparently they need further info on that (You also have the official answer to your problem there, starting the interaction with the box should prevent new chains from appearing):

    @Wendy said:

Step 1 : Boot the game

Step 2 : Play as survivor in a pbulic match

Step 3 : Play against a Pinhead killer

Step 4 : Get big chains thingie happening to entire team

Step 5: Be the hero, grab the box and try to solve it.

Step 6: Get repeatedly hit by chains at 95% solving progress to cancel solving.

Step 7: Rejoice in the fact that you haven't given this team of programmers a single penny for two years.

  • Cooperation on Gens challenges seem to be buggy right now, there is already a bug report on this:

Since the Hellraiser chapter release, I have been unable to gain any progress on The Engineer's Guild challenge in Tome VII, Level IV in The Archives.

I have played 5 games on 5 different maps, all where I have repaired gens with survivor(s), but have not gained any more progress on the challenge then I had before the Hellraiser release.

    Maybe, stop worrying about MMR.

Who cares if that players MMR is raised because they escaped with a key? 1. It's a single match, it probably won't make much of a difference. 2. They're only shooting themselves in the foot is they do it intentionally, because MMR only serves matchmaking, leading to harder matches for that survivor.

MMR isn't a medal to brag about, or a goal to achieve, or something to get jealous about, it's literally just the matchmaking algorithm, working in the background, to try to match players with similarly skilled opponents.

Can’t agree more with that statement!

people are way too focused on the MMR instead of just trying to play the game

  • Ranks, which are now called Grades btw, are not used for matchmaking anymore and they are only an indicator on how much playtime the player has had in the current month (well at least after the 13th where it gets reset for the first time)

It seems you have a higher MMR than you should have. Thus the SBMM (skill based matchmaking) is matching you against stronger opponents. But as you said yourself you are doing well in some matches..

keep in mind you are not supposed to win every match (that would be pretty frustrating for your opponents after all). Try to find fun in the actual gameplay, the chases, mindgames etc. Try to play around their perks, especially perks like DS and DH can be played around in many situations.

Reading the description on the Pinheads power it sounds like it is supposed to work that way. It is also best to not wait until it has started the chain hunt until you try to solve it. Don't pick it up too early though. I say when it is around 3/4 the way full.

thats how i understood it as well. It’s intentionally harder to get done once the chainhunt started. And I have seen people (and did it myself) solve it even with the chains.

Is this the pre-discount price? (nevermind i'll figure out the math myself from here) 600 for each except Johnathon Byers, 825. after 50% discount, 4,012.5 auric cells. Would it be cheaper to buy the 4025 pack or 2 2250 packs? EDIT: It says the outfit sale ended September 8th. Did I miss my chance? Can anyone confirm?

Generally it would be cheaper to buy the higher auric cell pack (so 4025 in this case) as the price gets relatively lower with more auric cells.

though I am not too sure if this is the exact same for every country/currency, you can go into the in-game store and look there how much they cost!

but as was already said, the sale for cosmetics is over and might actually not come back at all.. :(

  • I like the introduction of killer specific items (it’s actually something i had featured in one of my killer concepts) and it’s a nice touch that you get a BP score and text for the item when escaping!

But they could have made something like bubbas masks where you have to get out x times to unlock a charm or something to make it more rewarding..

  • Got it in my first match shortly after the DLC was available on Steam..

  • Congrats!

i play on Steam but on controller and there Trickster already feels horrible to control.

can’t imagine how it is on consoles..

  • All Stranger Things (or other licensed cosmetics) are only available for auric-cells, which is an in-game currency that you only get for money. So definitely no grind necessary.

depending on how many you buy at once you get some for free though (like 10 € are 1000 auric cells; 35 € are 4000 auric cells)

dont know how many ST cosmetics there are though and how much they cost currently..

The 5th year anniversary stream said there would be 4 killers this (DBD) year starting with Nemesis. We just had another licensed killer released - Cenobite. The only time three licensed killers have been introduced in one "DBD Year" was late 2017/early 2018 (Bubba, Freddy, Pig). The last three anniversaries have seen the following killers released:

    5th Anniversary: Nemesis

    4th Anniversary: Executioner

    3rd Anniversary: Ghostface

So while it is an assumption - I think it is pretty good assumption that the next two killers will not be licensed and that the next licensed killer will be for the 6th anniversary. My assumption goes off of history due to past release schedules of licensed killers. Would I want a licensed killer? Meh - doesn't matter to me, but I highly doubt they will be licensed. Since all anyone can do is assume - I'll stick by my assumption until proven wrong.

I mean if we are saying who we would want the next licensed killer to be (regardless of release date) - my picks would be either Chucky or Alien/Xenomorph.

Gotcha. Sounded like you knew more than that. But I kinda agree with that assumption.

(or it could be Candyman that got postponed due to movie release from last year to this year. That wouldn’t really break the ‚pattern‘… )

  • @Jasix said:

Well the next killer will not be licensed so.....

Hoping they go "old school" and we get a werewolf/lycan or a vampire.

Sources that it won’t be licensed? As far as I know that’s just an assumption..

(Also I guess OP was asking for the ‚next‘ licensed killer generally)

No one uses the account but me. when i got the ban i rejoined and theres 2 options  log off or continue

Then I suggest you log off, change your Accounts Passwort and if the message comes again you click on continue.

    and create a support ticket

  • Then contact BHVRs support as I stated in my first message.

did you link your Stadia and Steam accounts perhaps? Or is someone using family share to use your game? In both cases only one account can be active at the same time.

  • I am sorry. But I don’t understand what’s your problem is?

do you get an actual error message where it’s saying someone is using your account currently or do you have just a timed penalty for lobby search?
