When ruin is still up (unfindable) and blight comes to your ass with tinkerer your are 100% in the hands of your team mates to either finish that gen or let it regress. Its absolute luck what team mates you get in solo Q. Mostly donkey tho
Most of the time I am the totem hunter and usually I can find them reliably. But yeah I get what you mean.
-
The button to leave game is necessary though.
there are certain situation where you habe to be able to leave the game, eg
- Actual game hostage situation
- Gamebreaking bugs that forces you to leave
- Real Life problems
pretty sure they have to have the option from a legal point of view.
-
You are praising him in the OP for this patch. That doesn’t make sense. It’s not like he did it on his own.

The combo ruin undying tinkerer on blight is beatable. You just need coordinated swf for that so nearly finished gens get pushed by other mates while you get chased away from it.
In solo Q it hurts tho. You get pushed away and when you come back it's at 0 progress.
Oh it’s also very much beatable in SoloQ. Trust me I don’t have that much issues with it personally.
especially Ruin Undying isnt that problematic (though very RNG dependent and can be strong due to that but it’s inconsistent)
i just think that certain perks are way too strong on high mobility killers compared to the other killers (BBQ, Undying). And that while those other killers already are the weaker ones that struggle with gen pressure. I am not saying the perks are OP on it’s own.

He seemed to be the only one who knows how to play the game and also the only one who was mentioning his awesome ideas. Unlike some other devs which had questionable ideas, to say the least.
But why would you think he was alone responsible for the changes in this current (and his last) update, while he was literally part of the team for every update?

Same thing that happened to the key nerf that was supposed to coincide with the mori nerf
They have actually said we should not expect both nerfs (key and Mori) at the same time.
though the upcoming rework will be looking at both.
-
New teaser, still that witchy theme and scribblings but there is Part of a story written (added text to the OP).
Dont know what to think about the writing though, seems like it’s written as fiction and not a diary or something about witchy potions or boons…
edit: this could actually be another hint to Haddie Kaur. I think in the tomes she is said to be a psychic that can see what others can’t see, across different realities etc. She is probably writing down what she is seeing.
-
Understandable.
(I think especially Tinkerer is too much on high mobility killers, especially Blight, while on its own the perk isn’t really OP..)
-
McLean was part of the team since the beginning. why should get all the credit for this patch?
not saying he doesn’t deserve some praise for this.. but it is still all done by the whole team and it’s very save to say that it wasn’t all McLean alone (and from what I have seen from him i think he wouldn’t want the team to get ignored as well)

They likely figured from the early feedback that not many want the full outfit, some just want the hair, some despise the hair but not the suit.
Ez win for them= link it
Ez win? How is it an ez win when both of those groups do not buy the cosmetics at all now?
@Hippie said:
I've always thought that "set" outfits could be either all three pieces linked or only two. There are a lot of outfits that would be perfect with only two pieces linked: the torso and the bottom, while leaving the head unlinked so you could wear different heads. The new Felix outfit is a great example of this. And with Killer, the body and head would be linked but not the weapon, allowing for use of other weapons.
I think a long time ago they said that set outfits would consist of two or three pieces but we've not seen that in play. A little disappointing. 😔
it was mentioned in the in-game News That also 2-piece sets are possible I think. But i assume they have found problems caused by these type of sets that they couldn’t resolve (probably very easy to break/unlink) so they haven’t done those (yet)
@IlliterateGenocide said:
if bunny feng came out today i 100 think it would be a set.
bunny Feng came just a few weeks before introduction of linked sets iirc. If they really wanted to they would have just waited with the release.
but it’s very likely that bunny Feng was indeed causing lots of work and effort to realize as separate pieces (which they probably wouldn’t do again nowadays) and to be frank many combinations with only the head cosmetic look awful.

there are actual balance and gameplay problems in this game (as well as optimization/performance stuff). Complaining about something like this is just undermining the actual constructive criticism.
Spirit has enough going for her over Nurse, as was already detailed by multiple people in this thread. Don’t be a sore loser and give credit where credit is due.

Did they say they were reworking more maps this mid-chapter? I haven't seen anything on it.
No.
but Peanits confirmed part 2 of the dev update will be as packed as part 1.
we know that the new surv and boon totems will probably be featured, but other than that there is not too much that it could be. And as was said, it’s been a while since the last map rework.
-
Take a break. Don’t force yourself to play if you don’t enjoy the game.
it is a game after all.

Personally I just plan to run Undying, Haunted Ground, Retribution, and Thrill of the Hunt the week that perk releases. Can't use boons if there's no totems 5head.
Watch the survivors being able to bless a Hex:totem to kill the hex effect and get the boon effect.
ggez babykiller.

Oni running away from Suzie and predropping pallets is now my favorite self-imagined clip ever.

I guess I would have taken Demos Off the Abyss to create portals everywhere i want and be able to visit everyone anytime.
But with the Phantasm traps I just need to figure out what to use to get the Mint Rag addon effect to have the same function.

I don't need to know how it works. How else would it work it's a totem for survivors lmao.
And this attitude is why I have so much fun here :)
no you have no idea what the effects or the actual implementation are. Or how the killer actually will be able to interact/counter them. You are just assuming how it could be and already judging it just by your assumption.
-
Peanits made an additional comment about the addon changes:
@Peanits said:
To set expectations realistically, I just want to note that this is not a full add-on pass. As amazing as it would be to do a pass on so many Killer's add-ons all at once, that would end up being years of work squeezed into a single update.
More accurately, it's a pass on some of the underpowered, overpowered, or unused add-ons for a bunch of different Killers (rather than a bunch of add-ons for a single Killer like we usually do).

If it's not a thing, then they shouldn't have announced sets as being 2-3 linked cosmetics. Because they clearly had intentions for it but never utilized it.
I agree.. It was really weird to announce 2-piece sets but never deliver.
i just guess they found some bugs that they couldn’t resolve and went the safer route with only 3-pieces..
-
I wouldn’t count on it right now. It is a possibility, sure.
but there is other stuff that would make sense to come in this midchapter and covering the part 2:
- New survivor and Boon totems/perks
- Realm Beyond Update (map graphic update)
- Halloween Event
i do think the real bot mode is still being worked on/planned though.
-
i like the Babysitter change, hope it turns out useful
maybe I will switch out BT for it sometimes (BT seems currently to be a necessity in the game and until now Babysitter wasn’t really useful against hard campers..)
Hex changes seem like reasonable changes that should have been here sooner.
-
Because 2-piece-sets are not a thing (as of now)
maybe they will add this in the future and unlink certain sets that make sense for this. But as of now this doesn’t seem possible..
look at it this way: if it wasn’t for set cosmetics you wouldn’t have gotten the pants either.

can i ask what's wrong with the term? not trying to be ######### i just don't see the issue in this particular context at least
I just don’t like it as it has nothing to do with fat-shaming or body-shaming. Those terms are referring to a very real problem and using it out of context kind of undermines the actual problem IMO. (Guess it would be for example different if it affected Jane but not Meg for example, there it would be kinda appropriate)
but yeah, it’s not really that problematic and i didn’t intend to mean it too seriously :)
-
It’s 2021 and the term ‚fat-shaming spot‘ is still being used.
bugs and such can be reported here btw:

I don't know how anyone can argue that this is a good idea unless you're a survivor main. Just the idea of them entertaining a survivor hex totem is just bonkers to me.
I was joking two years ago that they might as well let the killer cleanse the totem because ruin op but they took it literally lmao.
You literally don’t know how it will work and what kind of effects those perks may have??

Gamedesign experience, own vision of the game, internal testing, Beta testing with closed group of people, feedback, statistics and data analysis..
probably a mix of all of this?

I forgot Fast Track, but no it was definitely about "Smash Hit is a guaranteed chase ender BHVR what are you doing you hate all killers and want all M1s to perish". Slightly overdramatic recreation but still.
Then it was both. I definitely remember the complaints of genrush potential of the perk.
i gotta say I would be very disappointed if there wasn’t such a bizarre reaction to one of the upcoming survivor perks. They are part of the hype by now.
-
Scarecrow from DC seems like a relatively horror-theme like char.
Marvel.. hm.. That New Mutants movie seemed from the trailers a littler horror like.. maybe whatever the villain is there?

The theme of these teaser goes into witchcraft/wicca. Well we will see where this goes. PTB for midchapter shouldn't be too far away.
Usually such teasers come the weak before the PTB, so maybe it’s gonna be Tuesday.

Remember how Flashbang and Counterforce and Blast Mine and Smash Hit and Power Struggle and Built to Last and Desperate Measures and Soul Guard and Blood Pact and For the People and Any Means Necessary and Breakout and Second Wind and Cameraderie and Inner Strength and Head On and Distortion and Breakdown and Deliverance were all going to be incredibly OP perks that would change the meta as we knew it and would make killer lives hell?
Yes. I remember almost every of those complaints. Except Built to Last and Smash Hit. For Felix I don’t remember such reactions at all but for Yun-Jin, wasn’t it Fast Track? Or probably both.
-
Make it so they don’t affect killers but survs can shoot eachother. Also usable while hooked to avoid getting farmed.

Everyone: boon totems will ruin the game
First boon totems introduced: Increases the aura reading range by 5m for each survivor within 3m of the totem.
I mean.. people also said that Jill‘s Counterforce perk will be OP and destroy the game. And that with all info already revealed.
Every survivor nowadays has this one perk. It is known.

Am I the only one that thinks Boon totems won't affect the entire game, still? Especially if their perks? I really think they will only affect the one survivor. I could be wrong though, who knows.
I just really doubt they will be anything as powerful as mitigate regression. I could easily be wrong though.
I think it was stated that the effect will benefit the surv team? But I am not sure if that was official info or leaked info or merely speculation.

@R2k said:
Can someone explain what is boon totem and how it/they currently works?
We don’t know yet. They are a new type of survivor perks. The surv has to use a dull totem to make a boon totem (like Hex totems but blue flames). It is likely getting introduced with one of the next updates, maybe even the very next midchapter update.
-
Maybe you get an indicator status effect like the cursed effect for survs once you experience the effect of the Boon as killer.
and boon totems might get revealed like Hex:Plaything. The killer sees the aura of the boon totem when around x meters of it.

Halloween update? New/reworked skins for the Myers family?
I don’t really see anything in these teasers that indicate anything Halloween license related though it would be cool to get something for that license (maybe a rework/refresh for Myers as he is pretty outdated…)

it’s not a new chapter, just the midchapter update. Which has a survivor as the current chapter doesn’t have one.
also.. no we don’t need one. But we are getting the update and the next chapter either way as they have been planned and scheduled for quite some time already.

Not before Pig though. From all of this he devs probably find a reason to nerf pig first.

Some tweaks especially to his addons and animations would be fine.
but overall he needed a nerf. Despite people saying hexend perfectly balanced he was actually one of the big three before the rework. And he can still be powerful in the right hands.

isn't 28k+ BP impossible if you hook only 1 survivor?

Because they ######### up the dlc so much that capcom don't want to have bussines with them anymore? If i was part of capcom i would think that. Since release the dlc was full of bugs, the map, the characters faces and even today Jill have her face bugged..
That doesn’t explain why Nemesis didn’t have any cosmetics in release.
it also doesn’t explain why he will get cosmetics soon.

And so is it not entirely possible that Capcom, wanting to exacerbate the looks of remake Nemesis since that's the new canon storyline they're going with apparently, didn't want to give him any skins?
It's probably a Capcom issue. It's why Leon and Jill got their "classic" looks except it was from the remakes.
But Nemesis is going to get cosmetics either way. So it’s still a little bit weird that he was the only one that didn’t get anything in the store on release..

apparently, that was nothing, but go off sis....
You are still insisting them saying ‚easier matches‘ is equivalent to starting at the lowest? Easier is a comparative word and they especially used it to compare to matches with a killer you are performing very good with. So using an average from all your killers ratings will make the rating lower than your good ratings.
sis.

But seeing how you're so desperate for an internet win, I'll give it you. It obviously means a lot to you.
I never claimed they have stated this in an official press release though??

But having an MMR that's based on other killers is not an MMR that's individualized on other killers. That's obvious.
I'm still waiting to see if you can produce this evidence that suggests it was literally always supposed to be this way. Let's see if you ignore it then or accept that.
On the first part: only the initial MMR of a Never before played killer is based on other killer. From that point on after playing the new it is individualized

From: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/256979/news-skill-based-matchmaking-recap#latest
One of the main focuses of this test was to try a different approach to how we handle “unrated” players. An unrated player is someone who doesn’t have any matches played that have been tracked by the system. Usually, these players are new. However, they can also be people returning from a break! In this test, we only used matches from the past 3-ish weeks to build our SBMM (rather than our customary months of play data). This meant that our initial SBMM values for most players were a little inaccurate and required some additional games to adjust.
"How did the test go?"
- Halfway through our test, we were seeing many reports of high-skill Killers being matched against low-skill Survivors. At around 1PM EST on Thursday (around halfway through the test) we enabled a system that would assign unrated Killers a starting Rating based on their other Killers. To put this another way, if you had a high Rating with The Shape and The Trapper then decided to try out The Oni for the very first time, your Oni rating would start higher than the normal default due to your experience with other Killers. Enabling this appears to have resulted in an improvement of match quality, and we intend to improve this system in our next iteration.
This is the way it's always worked to avoid some people getting smurfed on.
thank you very much for this!
@xboxandswitch there you have confirmation that they actually said they were using this system for new killers on experienced killer-players.
