It's just a visual glitch and the first time you got hooked you probably got saved right as you went into second state and the visual glitch activated showing that you have only been hooked once. I've never heard of an actual hook glitch that makes you die on 2nd hook

nope its actually been happening. i was saved pretty instantly after hook

I don't really know. When I pick an item I don't get too attached to it and expect to lose anyways.

I can understand that it sucks to lose an item before you got to use it, but to call this toxic? No more toxic then going for a flashlight save (denying the killer all their hard work) or running Iron Will which robs the killer of an entire part of their own tool box and with zero counterplay or opportunity to "pick your hearing up again".

Or cleansing a Hex totem within a minute of the game starting without giving the killer any chance to get value out of it. Is this toxic gameplay?

You probably don't mean it that way, but this kind of thinking is very un-empathetic and comes off pretty entitled.

i mean im entitled to have a fun game and everyone else is, we pay money so its only fair, i dont think its toxivc its just a jerk thing to do for the reason people do it. its like going into a match to camp or tunnel because it will help you win, or going into a match with nurses best add ons or like going into a match with old iri head. most of the time it wasnt an innocent thing you know?

Try giving killer a try and going up against some matches with out lightborn or franklins then come back and let us know if your still having fun, like someone said lightborn is incredible against 3 flashlights the amount of downs or hits you get because they still try to blind you is funny, if your playing hag and there is more then one flashlight then yer you kinda need franklins.

So do you think its fine that survivors can remove hags traps with a flashlight pretty much removing her of her power in the game ruining the fun for the killer trying to play her, but if they trap your flashlight or item it's wrong because it's taking a small bit of fun away from you even though you can still do gens, loop the killer etc still having some fun compared to a killer that is now forced to walk (has very weak chase) around the map because a item can remove there power.

nah killers powers shouldnt be negated like that, burning wraith is ok because its easier to avoid. also ill have you know im a huntress main... so yeah i look at walls and bait out flashlights and people typically never get the save, ive probably had 2-4 saves on me because i just wasnt paying attention enough, ive had 4 man squad and i never brought franklins or lightborn and still won without any saves done

I don't understand it, why is it a jerk move? Survivors know how much DH is hated, and its still the most used perk. Same with bodyblocking BT. So why is stealing some items such a "jerk move" that only tries to "destroy other peoples fun"? I honestly don't get it. Most survivors already have more items then they could ever use, because they only need to level up one survivor, because they are all just skins instead of real characers, so there is no real loss most of the time.

you bring something to use, you cant use it and frankly i hate builds that do stuff like that, second chance builds, bodyblocking builds, sabo builds, they all suck, yes they have a use but doesnt mean they arent nasty. taking items is annoying because items have an impact and people dont like having to run and pick it up, the real issue comes from trapping the item when the item has probably lost its charges already, its salt in the wound ya know?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2999286#Comment_2999286

Both have tactical uses, but are very niche.

Lightborn is incredible against 3 flashlights, especially if you are smart about hiding it. People sleep on the aura reading aspect of it.

Franklins is...overrated, even on Cenobite. The only time I'd use it is if I'm playing an attrition based killer into a full medkit lobby.

That said - I usually see at least 3 Dead Hards, at least two BTs, at least 1 DS and at least 1 CoH in almost every game. Glass houses and all that.

any survivors who run thayt get no respect either, i dont discriminate trust me

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/328204/2-experiences-with-a-hag-recently

There's...literally one good thing in that build - silent traps. Trading items for 1 fewer perk that could actually be something scary (Devour, for instance) is usually worth it.

That's not even close to the nastiest thing a Hag can do. Wait until you face a Knockout Hag in solo.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2999269#Comment_2999269

...Yes? They are trying to counter what they are seeing.

    And?

If I see 4 Medkits, I'm bringing Frankies.

welp im still under the impression that anyone who brings franklins or lightborn is a baby

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2999269#Comment_2999269

That's being with the perks and addons. You need to get over yourself.

well i play games for fun not suffering and annoyance :)

  • @Crowman said:

Silent traps are one of her best addons and franklins helps counter flashlights which destroy her traps. This isn't some "toxic" build as much as taking advantage of things in the game.

But also the killer is not responsible for your fun. Stop treating killers like they are your personal entertainment.

oh well sorry that uh you dont realize their is a build just for hag to mess with items right? its not for flashlights. if a hag runs it for flashlights then oh well, but when you do it so people have to go back to their item and use dried cicada and rusty shackles thats just a jerk move bro

Personally after playing about 10 games as trickster on it. And probably about 20 as survivor.

The pallets are fine. It's those disgusting windows on the houses. Some are fine but there are about 3 God windows on that house.

just gonna say this since it seems everyone thinks trickster sucks because of his low map pressure... he can destroy at almost any loop he can throw over and his rate of throwing knives is faster than huntress and slinger and he moves faster than them. of course its fine with a killer like that, hell you catch a survivor in the open with him and they are dead unless you sucks but with huntress she can only throw few hatchets and they have to be perfect if she misses then the people can easily get behind cover but if trickster misses he still keep throwing, but yes god house broken

No problem! Out of curiosity, was the streamer live at the time? I'm not asking for names, that's against the rules anyway, but it'd make it pretty clear why he was doing anything he did. Like I could see headshaking at a slow vault as a funny thing, but carrying someone around to hatch just to hook them in front of it is always a dick move.

It's mostly a really fine line with these things - threads about "listen to what these jerks did" usually go over well as long as most people agree that the other player was in fact a jerk, but "listen to what these jerks did because they got mad at my leet skills" tend to crash and burn. There were two others I can think of in the last few days, one survivor and one killer, and they both went really badly for their OPs. And re: the streamer himself, there's a big difference between assumption and "yeah, he was raging at me the entire time."

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2997691#Comment_2997691

Kinda projecting on that last bit, man. I'm all for taking revenge on BMers, but being a dick to random players without provocation isn't any more laudable as killer than it is as survivor. It's not a zero-sum game where you can right the karmic scales by paying back last survivor group's douchebaggery on the next; all that does is make more players pissed off at DBD's community.

he was live yes but a small streamer so it didnt really affect him, and it wasnt like a funny thing bevcause he did it each time i was downed. and yeah that hatch he took me right by it and acted confused then took me away and zoomed to shut it just to rub it in my face that he actually knew where it was XD

  • @Laluzi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2997686#Comment_2997686

It's often looked down upon when people make posts talking about how they wrecked other players, as it comes off as bragging, and anyone reading can't actually judge how you played or how severe (or deserved) any BM was without being able to see a recording. Even then, it's still a bit attention-seeking.

Mostly, you weren't clear that he'd chased you several times earlier or that he faked hatch, so it sounded like you were talking about doing gens as your major contribution to the match, lasting for two chases at the very end, and then complaining about some headshakes. When a killer says someone didn't do anything all match, that translates to they rarely/never saw you which usually means gens, and with kobeing meaning your first hook, it was the best assumption I could draw from the information you gave. I'll admit I'm a little dubious of anyone who talks about destroying/humiliating the killer and talking them down when they still end up caught; it feels very "you didn't ACTUALLY win because..."

ahhhh i see, i actually plan to clip his game and show our chases and post it to youtube since i wasnt recording. but ill edit that right now! i appreciate it

  • @Technature said:

I'm sorry, after seeing game after game after game of being taunted by people in the gate, anytime I miss an attack of some sort, or just straight up every pallet slam, I can't bring myself to care when a killer decides they want to ruin someone's day.

"i had to watch as he failed to hear hatch so he gave up and hooked me when it was right by him... just for him to instantly go close it at end game."

So he hooked you and then went to close the hatch later? What next, am I going to be toxic cause I pulled your tea-bagging ass out of the gate and NOED'd you to the floor?

silly i am saying he acted like he didnt hear the hatch so he could toy with me XD im not even mad but his actions were simply to annoy me which falls under toxic behavior at least to me. but hey you do you

That's...not toxic, nothing is toxic except the endgame chat

i mean, taunting someone for no reason other than anger is kinda toxic behavior, insulting others is toxic and taunting in dbd is the equivalent of insults. it always has been unless it happens after like a good play. like when i mess up as killer i shake my head or if a survivor outplays me ill nod at them and leave

  • @TheArbiter said:

  • @bm33 said:

How did he get destroyed if he got a 4k?

chase is what matters when i talk about destroyed. he simply could never catch me during the game so when he could 1v1 me permanently he took like 2 or 3 minutes

  • @Technature said:

The killer beat me, they must be toxic.

its not that he beat me silly its simple, he not only taunted someone who he couldnt actually catch earlier in the match because he could 1v1 without worries of losing. he then acted like he was gonna take me to the hatch and also was toxic at endgame. i dont care that i died

  • @Laluzi said:

Kinda just sounds like a normal game where you died. You can do a lot worse than shaking your head at people. I do that all the time if something funny or stupid happens.

Also, depending how rude he (or you, because you sound kind of cocky about the whole deal) was about it, Billy maybe had a point? It sounds like two of your teammates died before you got chased or hooked. I get you were going for an adept and you're kind of pushed to play conservatively when you're doing that, but ideally you could have lengthened the other teammates' lives by taking some heat off them before they died. If he was tunneling, not much you can do about that, but if he was just chasing whoever he ran into, it's worth throwing yourself into the fray if you have hook states to burn and other survivors don't.

he chased me, couldnt hit me or chainsaw me... he literally broke chase with me 2 or 3 times because he couldnt catch me, i never teabagged or was cocky at all. i did gens and tried taking chase cuz i love billy?

If you let go of the gen before the person is hooked, Pain Resonance will pop the gen but Dead Man's won't activate....you can then continue working on the gen.

If the killer chases you, the gen will be blocked for whatever time is remaining on DMS (usually ~25-30s factoring in travel time) during which time it WILL NOT regress and you can lead the killer away from it.

Dead Lock and Corrupt are the lowest effort/highest impact perks in the killer's arsenal right now, imo.

dead mans activate when you let go of the gen tho?

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2995121#Comment_2995121

Pre dropping works if other survivors rush the gens. After that there is still windows to use for other survivors in looping long enough so that all gens can be finished. But if survivors fail to do gens quickly then killer will win and end chases in the end quickly. But map like game there is 100 pallets so that will take a while.

welp it doesnt work normally, because lets be real... randos dont do that XD

  • @Zozzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2995195#Comment_2995195

If they are 30m away then you are in a dead zone or the other survivors used them.. again, shouldn't you be screwed in that situation?

well let me rephrase, i was at a loop where a pallet was literally 10 meters away and i couldnt even make it to that, his ability requires really close loops and good positioning to use the counterplay. deadzones are to be screwed yes.

  • @ad19970 said:

He is definitely A tier in my eyes. But I do think his biggest selling point is his map pressure, which is a good thing of course.

His anti-loop is decently strong, but definitely has some fair counterplay. Chaining pallet loops or just loops in general is very viable against him, but you have to be aware of lockers and try to predict when and where he might teleport to.

You can also try and mindgame his remnant at loops that break line of sight, since he can't see anymore if you are running towards his remnant, or doubling back. This is dependent on the loop size/form and remnant placement though.

At the beginning, there were some people that thought he had no anti-loop, because they didn't know he had the remnant. But I doubt anyone still thinks he has no anti-loop now. I guess the devs made that mistake with Sadako and noticed how that didn't turn out well at all.

yeah his locker tp during nightfall is strong, you cant always tell if he is doing it during nightfall

  • i dont mean deadzone as in no pallets, i mean pallets being like 30 meters away

    You guys will be besties!

well dead lock isnt as bad as deadmans switch because it activates with every gen, but paired together as 3 perks its annoying, and yeah if corrupt was added instead of deadlock id cry XD

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/327645/new-killer-meta

You can thank SWF coordination and gen speeds for this. Every killer has to go into a match assuming that they’ll be facing a coordinated SWF team, where you start an chase with one survivor and meanwhile 2-3 gens will get done before you first hook. You then leave the hook to play by survivor rulebook, go look for another survivor. One survivor goes for the save, another is working on a gen while you chase the fourth survivor. Repeat again for the last gen. With a full regression build and a good three gen, you might have a chance to get a kill. Without regression perks, you consistently get zero kills and survivors t-bagging you at the exit gates.

not most of the time, and that mindset makes for bad games on surv side for sure. when i play i play to win, i will slug and camp and tunnel, i dont make a habit out of it. but whats needed is needed. it makes games so much easier, dont just camp and tunnel the whole time, but if you have to or can then do it. also gen speeds arent that bad mostly when its a swf

  • @ad19970 said:

Gens can go very fast, these gen slowdown buils are not op or anything. Deadlock and Pain Resonance don't even synergize that well, because Pain Resonance activating on a blocked gen does not regress it at all, the gen only starts regressing once the gen is unblocked.

Killers need slowdown, again, because gens can get repaired very fast. These perks will surely be nerfed in the upcoming perk update, but hopefully only with some basekit slowdown for killers, preferably during the early game, where killers have the least map pressure.

I mean you have a point, but why does everyone think that gens are done in 5 minutes all the time? half the time killers make the wrong choices and dont end chases fast enough. not everyone is in a swf, so that perk set up is great and fair, until you have a game of solo who dont even sweat or know what theyre doing, hence why things should be balanced. i cant wait for DH to be gonzo and the meta changes

  • @Souplet said:

And guess who hates the E key ?

everyone XD trust me when i make a post to talk about meta or annoying perks i will call out survivor and killer. dead hard is trash, its a perk that extends loop and rewards bad plays and lets you be greedy. dead hard should have no invicibility like people been saying.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

It amazes me that people still think anti-loop is bad.

    @[Deleted User] said:

    WWWW pre-drop WWWWWWWWWW pre-drop, there

well wes thats whats wrong, you have to predrop and lets be real you can predrop ecery pallet in the game, but that does NOT win you games. any killer who is smart will leave you after a few good pallets and then bam someone else wont predrop and finds out the hard way that antiloop killers can be pretty dang good at well antiloop and then when people get coralled to the place where the pallets are now gone they easily die speeding up the process for the killer. pre drop works against oni and dumb killers only. but as for why i dont like anti loop killers... i hate gens and i hate healing. i only like looping killers, so when they leave me it sucks because my friends i play with or the randoms typically die within seconds. but i mean they arent all that bad, pyramid head isnt so bad because there are tricks to dodging his ability, the only reason he has ever and still is annoying is that he can cancel his m2 for an instant attack. artist isnt that bad... i dont think, ive never gone against a good one tbh. dredge isnt so bad because you can run to another loop, its just when you have too much space between loops where its bad. you see what i mean? its not like theyre horrible its just some facets are annoying and some are fun, the main annoying thing is the same type of killers being released back to back, kinda like its annoying getting 3 legions in a row because of rift

He moves slower than Nurse when leaving behind the remnant. You can either bait his tp or hold forward.

    @Zozzy said:

He is artist V2. Just leave the loop when he drops remnant and he will be slowed enough to make the next loop.

    @Brimp said:

The antiloop is only good if the survivor allows the dredge to zone them. Other than that you can just W to other loops as he does his antiloop.

ive played against him alot and what i CAN say is its not guaranteed. if he zones you to the area away from pallets youre screwed and if the other pallets are too far youre screwed. it only works in a pallet dense area and also he can teleport back and instantly move and swing, baiting it isnt gonna be much use if they follow you until youre right on it. thats why im saying he is pretty strong because he can zone you easily and his cooldown is so fast that he can instantly catch up. but yes you guys have a point if its a pallet dense area, but so far ive only had a few situations where that was true. so its like 5050 in my case of when his counterplay worked

  • @Bot_Salvo88 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/327801/dredge-actually-has-annoyingly-good-antlioop

Leave the loop if you're not confident enough when he leaves the remnant in it. If for "darkness" you mean Nightfall, you can hear him perfectly even behind walls so you know exactly where he is even without paying attention to him (he doesn't even have a red stain when it's dark because he is "undetectable")

thats a good point that i forgot to bring up, i was mainly just going over how strong he is all around not his downsides.

  • @foxsansbox said:

Can the survivor correctly determine 1) Where to exit the loop? and 2) Is that exit before the remnant teleport becomes viable? The quicker the survivor figures those two things out the more time they buy to make it to the next loop to repeat. Not all survivors are going to reconcile fast enough.

Kind of similar to Artist's Exit Loop Flowchart.

ive never heard that term? can you elaborate

Why is it a problem for you if you admit you're a casual player?

That is the real problem. BHVR only cares about casual players. People who don't put in the effort and jsut want easy things and like usual that's what BHVR does, they listen, they nerf killers and then we're in an endless circle of making the game easy for casual players...Everytime something doesn't appeal to casuals here we are ...

haha, i dont want easy. but i dont want to deal with the same build 3 times in 2 hours all on dredge and have teammates that arent sweaty in the least just to go up against someone sweating their heart out with a build that requires you to not let go of gens and to not get downed. when i say casual i mean people who just want to have fun, not someone who wants to absolutely win no matter what

"letting go doesnt stop dead mans switch, the THREE perks as a combo silly."

It only blocks if you let go, meaning he had to pressure you off the gen. That isn't "playing itself". You're being hyperbolic. The only one that's not avoidable or "playing itself" is Deadlock and that isn't much of an issue.

"i never said it was too strong or unfair, so why argue in its defense?"

You're playing coy. You implied that it was indeed too strong or unfair for solos and casual players.

"if you use dead mans switch at end game more than one can be blocked"

Only if he played well and pressured you off the gens. That's rewarding him for playing well. There's nothing wrong with this.

"Maybe i cant explain properly but there are scenarios where it can be very oppressive unless the survivors just dont go down."

Why would you say that you aren't saying it's unfair or oppressive and then say this? You are literally contradicting yourself. Your entire premise is that it is too strong or oppressive sometimes.

"but please take my post at face value and see it for what it was. it doesnt have deeper meaning and i clearly stated what i thought."

I'm not looking further into what you're saying other than what you're literally saying. You are contradicting yourself and then playing coy like you didn't say it.

    "it can be very oppressive"

"i never said it was too strong or unfair"

Oppressive - unjustly inflicting hardship and constraint

    Unjustly, synonymous with unfair.

    Contradictions.

jeez. Im just going to finish saying this. It is oppressive and unfair to casual games. swf is a good balance for this build. everyone can get hooks so this build isnt really only a reward for good gameplay. there are multiple facets. but im going to end it here, because when i get into discussions i say crap and not realize that im making zero sense or that im contradicting my earlier statements because im not fully explaining. so this is my last comment, if you think this build is completely easy to deal with then you must be a god survivor who mmr is so high that no one gets hooked and that no kiler is using the 3 perks. my main issue is that within 2 hours i dealt with this build 3 times on dredge each time

  • @Blueberry said:

"hooks them and then makes the people who are on the next gen scream and then it gets locked again"

Right here they just got punished for playing bad. They had counter play available to them but they just didn't play well. There's nothing wrong with this and this is their own fault.

"in a casual game it is just oppressive, you slowly start to have to switch gens over and over which increases the amount of hooks the killer gets"

You're only switching gens that much if the killer is playing very well and you're making lots of mistakes. Making mistakes should be punishable, that's good design. The killer is already on way more of a time crunch than survivors are, they have lots of extra time to waste that the killer doesn't have. It's not oppressive. Also, it's hard to call the game casual anymore when they added an MMR system. You only put an MMR system in a competitive game.

"if 1 gen is left then 1 hook means the killer could win with just pain res"

No. You let go of the gen before he hooks so he doesn't get the block. This is also assuming he was even able to get a Scourge Hook in the first place AND he had to down a survivor as well. So you had to make a mistake multiple times to even be in that situation in the first place and the killer had to have some good rng on hook placement.

"but with that combo 1 gen means you have to go to 1 of 3 gens which the killer can more easily control"

That's why you pay attention to what gens you are doing so you don't 3 gen yourself.

"im saying the meta sucks and is oppressive for casuals and solos"

I'd like the meta changed as well but it is absolutely not even remotely oppressive for casuals or solos. I run solo 95% of the time and win most my matches.

The majority of everything you're describing here is a skill issue. If you play bad you lose, that's how games work. DBD is already extremely generous for survivors with the amount of mistakes they can make and still win, like absurdly.

letting go doesnt stop dead mans switch, the THREE perks as a combo silly. Yes you have a point but in a game with randoms or like i said people who arent bringing sgtrong perks then its not possible for everyone to be good at looping or spreading out. the whole point of this is that this build literally plays itself against this type of match. i never said it was too strong or unfair, so why argue in its defense? if you use dead mans switch at end game more than one can be blocked and if deadlock works then you can realistically have 1 gen not being blocked and the kilelr has info. Maybe i cant explain properly but there are scenarios where it can be very oppressive unless the survivors just dont go down. Its not like this build is unbeatable, but please take my post at face value and see it for what it was. it doesnt have deeper meaning and i clearly stated what i thought.

He's only getting value if he's pressuring you off the gen, IE playing well. What's the issue?

the issue stems from the reward for hooks. pain res and dead mans as well as dead lock. say he downs a person who finished a gen, hooks them and then makes the people who are on the next gen scream and then it gets locked again. in a casual game it is just oppressive, you slowly start to have to switch gens over and over which increases the amount of hooks the killer gets. if 1 gen is left then 1 hook means the killer could win with just pain res, but with that combo 1 gen means you have to go to 1 of 3 gens which the killer can more easily control. I am not saying its busted or that survivors dont have bs perks im saying the meta sucks and is oppressive for casuals and solos. thats the issue, dh is a problem for casuals too

That's not really gen regression, more like gen block.

For the amount of people that complain about it I see like 99% of people not even attempting to counter it. They just eat it and complain.

All you have to do is let go right before they hook and then continue repairing, no block happens. The counter play is that easy yet basically no one does it.

dead man switch mix tho, not just res

Some people are just jerks it's got nothing to do with whether they're SWF or not IMO

True, but for whatever reason i see it in swf more and i even seen posts where people are trying to get a toxic swf squad

I suspect the reaction arose from the fact that Hattie Mae is the name of characters or people that are black and that the OP uses it as a nickname for an ethnic character.

its possible but ive never heard of that nickname?

  • i agree, but sadly people would like that. meaning less people in public and que times would be worse. although they arent even bad, unless you want to play a specific role at a specific time.

Because that's how a gorgeous person out of eurocentric beauty standards looks and people have been calling her ugly in all ways or overused the unfunny "nea 2.0" joke, plus the hattie mae nickname, she's not black she's indian

whats wrong with the nickname, also by correlating people calling her ugly to her ethnicity it makes you seem to be messed up. dont correlate that stuff, also nea was ugly not even close to being because of her ethnicity. the designs in this game for characters arent that attractive and neither should they be. just try and shift that mindset because its very unhealthy

I said nothing about a character's skin color, so not sure how that idea got brought up. All humans are "POC" by the way.

yeah.. im hoping that was a joke
