I hope we don't get Freddy vs Jason version of Jason. It's the worst one.

Even worse than part 5 version lol.

I know right? We need Jason X.

  • Good, atmospheric graphics

Head On + Quick and Quiet + Ds

    Head On is underated.

Head On is buggy. Have they fixed that hit box yet? It's so hard to get Head On to hit the killer properly.

  • Game doesn't have to be perfectly balanced, but clear outliers need to be addressed.

I don't care about your mind, but if you really want to I have a License in Surgical Neuromedicine from the Platypus College of Advanced Science. You're welcome to a brain transplant at my table any day, anything for a brother in the mists.

  • @Impala said:

The game looked the worst during the Legion chapter, when they updated the engine. They've updated the engine once more and it looks better now than it used to look back in December, but I prefer the low brightness during the old days as well. However, now it's more fair for the killer.

While I like the dark look and how it helped stealth back in the day, if that is the only reason I don't mind them making all the clothes bright in some way as a tell in darkness. Just give us the old look back. They can make every survivor bathed in fluorescent light for all I care, just make the game look dark and atmospheric again.

  • @Jimsalabim said:

I miss the darker atmospheric look of this game, since day 1 after the engine update i was saying how badly the graphics had changed. i posted pictures of mcmillan maps how saturated the lighting has become. ... I really hoped they would have fixed the lighting by now but i remain hopeful that this is still on their list of to do things ... like maybe other priorities came first (you gotta make money)

The explanation that it was the new engine that made it brighter is just an excuse.

Updating the engine won't break the saturation levels like that, and even if it did it is an incredibly simple matter to restore them back to non-saturated levels.

Brightening the game was done on purpose as a result of killer complaints that it was too dark to find survivors -- exact same reason they took the dark moon offerings out of the game, and also the exact same reason they recently nerfed clothing to become brighter a few patches back.

They won't admit this of course and just blame it on the new engine version, but everyone knows that's just bollocks.

  • Oh wait you're on PS4 LOL no wonder. PS4 meta is a little different from PC meta.

  • Freddy and Pig are already rare these days so no surprise. Lots of Clown is surprising though.

Lots of Billy and Myers is to be expected. Those are popular picks. A little surprised Wraith got lots of play as well.

  • My biggest proof for this their boast, "Nothing is too big for us."

As long as they put their money where their mouth is and get us Jason, I'll be happy. If they can't get Jason, then their empty words are just that.

I don't think I've ever survived or 4k'd and not gotten a safety pip. Not saying it's not possible, just never experienced it. It definitely shouldn't happen.

It's not hard, if you for instance got tunneled and spent a lot of time on the hook while everyone else blitzed through the gens, it's possible to escape and depip. Or if you were immersed and barely did anything. Or if your team got stomped and you jump out the hatch (with or without key) barely doing anything. Also if your team is bad at hook saves and altruism it's possible you don't get an emblem at all for that and that might be enough to get you depipped.

I've had all happen to me (yes I still play immersed every now and then and I played Immersed a lot back when I was a mere 100-hour newb).

  • Although I stopped caring about pips a long time ago, I agree with this. I mean you won't pip up but at least you should get safety for surviving or for 4King. I have never depipped on a 4K though. But I've survived many times and de-pipped.

  • Once I was playing on Suffocation Pit and the map RNG spawned just so the moon was shining so ridiculously bright on the coal mine. When I walked inside it was so bright it looked like someone was having a birthday party inside. And this was traditionally one of the darkest places in the entire game!

    Ridiculous.

I hate what they did with the engine update, it was unnecessary, uncalled for and just ruined the game's atmosphere, and if anything the performance got worse and it introduced tons of bugs especially with the sound.

But BHVR stubborny (and foolishly) refuses to do a rollback, I wonder why? They won't even acknowledge it.

  • That makes it stronger than scratched mirror, in every way.

A little broken, glad you're not on the balance team.

how small does the skill check get though? im curious to see that

It becomes about half what it should be. For regular skill checks it's manageable but for DS and other harder skill checks, or if you stack other disruption on top like Doctor or Lullaby, it becomes seriously difficult and next to impossible to hit.

  • I've always been a fan of unnerving presence. People tend to overlook skill heck disruption because at higher ranks survivors can hit hex checks consistently, but truth is most players can't. I'm currently at Rank 4 survivor as of the moment and even at this rank I see the gens blowing the Ruin smoke a lot.

Survivors who can power through it hitting skill checks are rare, even in red ranks. A lot of people whine about ruin being useless, but you still see everyone running it. Should tell you that it's a lot more effective than people downplay it for.

UP is great, especially if you run a build dedicated to skill check hell like with Huntress Lullaby.

I don't see it becoming meta. We have Adrenaline which is really strong and Inner Strength has only 5 time uses if only one person runs it and cleanses totems. If this perk gets popular, you will more likely use it only once or twice at best, because every player will run it and cleanse all 5 totems asap after starting game

Adrenaline is one time use, just saying.

  • Game desperately needs more hiding options.

Killers are better than survivors at hiding at this point.

  • It's easy if you're a farmer who doesn't do gens.

  • @Bravo0413 said:

Before shatter bloodline came to the game there was the tired meta perk trend and yes to an extent that trend still exists but there is talk of how certain perks are "required" (this is false theres plenty that you can do against spirit to win a chase) to go against Rin..... this is a good thing for the game imo

This is the type of effect that the devs want for all the killers, they want players to think "well what if it's this killer, maybe I should bring this perk" .... but that's not the case........ most times you bring the big 3 (BT, adrenaline, DS) and an exhaustion perk and you're set!!! doesnt matter the killer (asides nurse)....

I give props to the devs....

    And happy bday Rin <3

This is bullshit and Pizzaman said it right.

Needing to have a specific perk/addon/whatever to counter anything in the game is dumb.

You know why? Because it means that Power is unbalanced and broken. Without the perk/addon it is too strong. With it it becomes useless? That's the epitome of bad game design.

Franklin's and Keys, AntiHemorragic and Instadowns, Calm Spirit and Doctor, these kinds of concentrated mechanics nonsense is bad game design.

  • How about fix all the bugs and fix the matchmaking. Is that too big for you?

  • @Hoodied said:

I listen to music while playing killer and survivor, loud music, and still get 4k's every match

Who else plays dbd without tracking via groans of pain and injuries

I wish everyone played like you, would make my life so much easier.

I'm not surprised you always get 4k'd while playing survivor, because you don't listen for the killer.

  • Your bad at grammar. The correct topic is:

    "Would you buff Ghostface?"

    And the correct answer is

    "NO."

I'm a Blendette and I like this build but instead of No Mither I would put resilience/balanced landing xD

Resilience without No Mither? What a waste! And you're not immersed if you're balanced landing.

Real Blendettes play with No Mither because it leaves no blood.

  • Windows is ok but it's nicer to combo Lithe with Quick and Quiet or Dance with Me (or both).

That's a nice build for you to try:

Lithe, Quick and Quiet, Dance With Me and then 4th slot is open.

    Another good build is:

    * No Mither, Resilience, Spine Chill and Tenacity.

    And my favorite:

    * Plunderer's, Ace in the Hole, Bond, Streetwise

  • This is the third time I've seen this thread.

There must be a Demogorgon Nerf Epidemic going on.

  • I'm only good at killers that look like Michael Myers. Strangely I'm bad with everyone else.

  • One of the reasons I hate Autohaven. And the big car dumps on the edges of the map mean you have one big dead end to run through with no juking opps.

lol broken state always notice killer why you think not?

That's exactly the point, you should start healthy and UNBROKEN and become broken on first hit or something -- or Broken should be hidden from the killer.

Personally I'd rather No Mither just has 100% grunt prevention so I don't have to waste another slot running Iron Will with it.

"Undetectable" as its name implies you should not be able to be found as easily as using 1 simple perk to absolutely destroy stealth killer's abilities that's just stupid no mattet how you look at it

How about we get an "Undetectable" perk for Survivors too, how stupid is it that one of the main ways a survivor gets to survive -- HIDING -- is absolutely destroyed by a dozen perks, add-ons and killer abilities.

  • @altruistic said:

”We want Survivors to hide more.”

Nerfs perks that help you evade and hide.

    🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️.

Spine Chill is a great perk and has become solidified in my build since people want to spam Spirit at R1.

Maybe I should equip DS instead.

See, the problem is they just want survivors to have ZERO tools to survive.

It's funny how last year everyone was crazy about nerfing looping -- and they did nerf everything from window vaults to DS.

Then they complained healing was too powerful and everyone was running self care. So they nerfed healing and buffed things like Sloppy Butcher.

Then they complained it was so dark and couldn't see survivors so they nerfed lighting and stealth.

Then survivors stopped healing so they just switched to focusing on gens. They complained about gen rush so they nerfed gen speeds and buffed delaying perks like Thanatophobia.

Then they felt it was still too hard to find survivors so they nerfed clothes.

It's funny most killers want Survivors to hide some more but there's been nothing but nerfs to evasion and stealth, and tons of aura and detection perks and detection buffs added on the killer side, but they still want survive to "stop genrushing" and hide instead. And what? Twiddle their thumbs? Can't even hide anymore with all the detection perks and abilities going on, and Distortion doesn't cut it.

Now you want to nerf spine chill? That's fine but something's got to give. The game is not fine if you keep it as is and keep nerfing everything.

The only real improvements we've been seeing to the survivor game are perks to discourage or punish killers from camping and tunneling. And that is good... except killers also want to nerf all those perks -- can't go a day without seeing a "Nerf DS Nerf BT" thread here.

You can't have it both ways, basically if you want survivors to stealth more make it a valid way to survive and cut survivors some slack, and figure out some other way to add value to the game that isn't just encouraging survivors to keep genrushing, because that's all they have left. It's fine to nerf loops and vaults and looping perks to the ground but give something back to keep the game healthy.

  • It would be bad, Window block is the real reason it is used.

Making bamboozle baseline is silly, they already instituted the 3-vault block nerf, adding bamboozle on top is a little much. Might as well just take windows out of the game, and take out survivors while you're at it nobody would be left playing survivor.

  • @LordGlint said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/677511#Comment_677511

Its not really a punishment, just hurrys the end of the game up so we can get on with our lives. It also gives the last survivor a chance at escaping, no matter HOW many gens were done. Before, the hatch only spawned for the last guy if 2 gens were finished. Now, the hatch spawns no matter what. Theyre also updating the left behind perk to make finding the hatch in that situation abit easier.

    Endgame Collapse does those.

Closing the hatch does none of the above. Killer giving the ability to close the hatch just makes the game unnecessarily harder for survivors. It's okay actually in concept because without the closing mechanic survivors would easily escape.

But not with current gate placement.

  • Clown is a good killer. I don't understand why killers don't like him. I find him hard to fight actually because he can shut down loops with his perfume.

  • PGTW has comeback potential without Ruin.

Ruin just slows the game enough so that you don't get snowballed to death by the genrush, but by end game the Ruin is almost certainly out of the picture.

The stronger combo is PGTW and Overcharge. But using PGTW and Ruin are good for slowing down the game and gen defense either way.

    @NoShinyPony said:

I got too frustrated with Ruin since it usually gets cleansed in the first 20 seconds. I'm currently trying alternatives. Ruin just feels like a wasted perk slot to me.

That's 20 seconds that someone wasn't doing gens. Not the best but it's not wasted by any stretch. And there are times when Ruin gives you a much bigger advantage than that. Ruin is well worth it.

  • @Rivyn said:

I don't get it. He's not great, but he can insta down you, or a whole team at once if they play stupid. Sure, he can be countered, I don't deny that. But that instadown potential puts him above Wraith, at the least.

Wraith is actually harder to play against than Leatherface. Both are camping geniuses but Wraith is very hard to lose and he can walk faster while cloaked, which makes it easier for him to exert map pressure and chase survivors, and he has add-ons which help like Windstorm, and his other add-ons are great for slowing the game down and finding survivors and even stealthing and mindgaming.

The only thing LF has going for him is his AOE area down, but if you stay away from him -- which is easy because he is slow and has no movement bonuses except those crappy add ons of his that barely help -- he is the easiest killer to go against by far and I say this as a guy who sucks at looping. He is just bad at chasing and none of his addons help. I mean, he has addons that "reduce chainsaw noise" lol what the heck?

  • Seems to me you're just passing the blame to the survivors for your tunneling behavior.

I don't blame you or the survivor though. I blame BHVR for their game design that encourages tunneling.

  • The Blendette Thing is a myth.

Killers could see Blendettes fine even before they nerfed her clothes. Good killers can see survivors, bad killers can't. I have gotten the same results hiding using the pink L4D and Chinese shirts as I have the Blendette clothes. It depends on the killer and how good or bad they are at tracking.

  • Tenacity, Unbreakable, Boil Over, Flipflop.

Make 'em work for their hooks. And if they don't you crawl away and hide.

  • @humanbeing1704 said:

Looks like the new thing to complain about is gen speed

    Nothing new about it.

  • Just wanted to bump this up. I know it's not popular but screw all the people who think Dead in the Daylight is better than Dead by Daylight.

  • You can't fix the gen rush without reverting all the ######### that lead to it.

    That includes:

    • Nerfing Stealth
    • Nerfing Windows
    • Nerfing Palettes
    • Nerfing Healing
    • Nerfing Loops
    • Nerfing Looping Perks

Heck, they even nerfed gen repair and got rid of Leader. The new Prove Thyself was a crap perk, far worse than leader, but became Meta over Leader because guess what? People have to gen rush because there really isn't any other option to survive. You want to slow the game down? How about giving Survivors the tools they need to stay in the game without needing to genrush like crazy just to have a chance to survive.

Throwing more gen-slowing perks isn't gonna fix anything. Survivors will keep gen rushing because there's nothing else to do.

  • @Raidoku said:

My friend there is a rather easy way to deal with moris whenever the offering screen pops up and I see killer using secret offerings im checking my NAT type even if I find out it wasn't a mori I love wasting killers secrets offerings usually 95% of the time its mori they need to change how it works two hooks and then mori is fine one hook and then a tunneling killer is stupid so I have a perfect solution until its fixed.

You are the reason Moris are bad for the game.

Ebony Moris are bad because they are so frustrating to go against that many survivors just suicide or DC when they see it.

And that is BAD for the game no matter how anyone spins it.

Keys are not as bad because #1 they are harder to use anyway and #2 killers can counter it in the lobby using Franklin's, or just by tunneling the key holder.

Meanwhile the only "counter" for Ebony Mori is to DC or suicide. "Playing perfectly" is not a valid counter, sorry.

  • Both key and Pink Mori are bad for this game, and I say this as a guy who abused Plunderer to hunt keys down when EGC hit.

Key not as bad, and certainly not as prolific, but both are bad for the game and the Ebony Mori in particular is really frustrating for survivors to go against.

    @NoShinyPony said:

Keys, moris and insta-heals should be adjusted. Don't change moris without changing insta-heals.

    Mori's equivalent is the key.

Insta-heal's equivalent is insta-down. You take out Instaheals, you should also take out Insta-downs. I think most killers will object to that.

  • And how you do you determine if a person is suiciding?

There is way too much potential for false positives.

Removing ability to suicide at hook does nothing. If a person doesn't want to play you cannot do anything about it. Can bring a horse to water but can't force it to drink and all that jazz.

A person who is not willing to play will ruin your game regardless.

You are just trying to treat a symptom, but not addressing the real root of the problem: why are survivors not feeling engaged enough to play the game properly?

That is what you should focus on, instead of bandaid fixes like this which serve nobody.

  • That will never happen, they need to monetize the game you know.

    1. The title made me lol

    2. These "small" changes have bigger implications and the spaghetti code of this game might not make such a change as easy as I should be

This is just ignorance of programming.

Struggle is just a single Function for the entire game, if the developers of BHVR are even beginner level programmers. It can easily be changed in an hour if they really wanted to.

That underscores the point that they don't want to.

  • @GODQueenEvy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/84566/bhvr-devs-i-understand-that-you-are-working-hard

First of all, I don’t think you are in the right to say that those SMALL changes are easily to fix. If they would be easy to fix, it would already been implemented in the game. The smallest changes could be one of the hardest things to fix... I know that we as a community want this game to succeed and do anything we can to bring it/keep things in a “healthy” state by giving feedback,.. But making a statement like “But is it that impossible to have a few minutes in between two tasks to fix the hook struggle....” is ironic. I’m pretty sure they are aware of that and are trying their best to implement those changes in the game.

Making the struggle automatic is not hard by any means, and if for any insane reason it is, that's just piss poor programming or lack of programming skills on BHVR's part. Even I could make that change in under an hour.
