We need the ability to kick a survivor who tries to unhook us.
We've been asking for that function for a year now (or longer) but BHVR refuses to put it in the game.
-
There are tons of fun builds
* Plunderer's, Ace in the Hole, Bond, Streetwise - Santa Claus build. Go around getting loot and give it to your friends.
* Flipflop, Boilover, Tenacity, Unbreakable - screw the killer over when he carries you around. Bring a Toolkit.
* No Mither, Resilience, Streetwise, Spinechill - Mr. Efficiency. bring a toolkit.
-
Left Behind is 100% more useless.
At least Monstrous Shrine might have an actual effect on the game.
Left Behind is 100% useless all the time, every time.
-
As Sairek said.
DCing is fine. Everyone needs to DC every now and then for whatever reason -- sometimes it's not even on purpose.
DCing a lot, is not fine.
Just yesterday I DC'd from a game that was green in lobby, but when the actual game started I was rubberbanding like crazy I couldn't stand it, so I DC'd. First time I DC'd on purpose in like the last 50 games I played.
This is fine.
-
A text file is still a file, though....
-
No it doesn't.
Streamers don't know ######### about this game, they are an elite .00001% that don't really understand the game the way the majority of the people play it, they only understand their own tiny niche in it.
Stop listening to YouTubers like Gods they don't deserve your worship.

Such saltiness, and complete fantasy and delusion to boot.

There are games when, when I was being farmed by my scum teammates, I begged the killer for Mercy and used my Bond to rat out all the scum who tried to get me killed.
I dare them to report me. Hahahahha

We need more Survivors to play the game.
There's not enough blood to spill...

The most recent official data shows a 60% survival rate for rank 2 survivors. But that's not the point. I say killers would need buffs to compensate for solo survivors getting buffs. Since Solo would ideally be as strong as SWF, killers would need to be balanced around that strength.
This is actually not a bad idea.
You can start of by making these perks baseline:
Survivor: Bond, Empathy, Kindred
Killer: NoEd, Ruin
Change like this would help solo survivors work on par with SWF teams, and Killer gets perks that force the "secondary objective" and slow the game down.
-
How exactly are you going to do an SWF nerf?
You can't nerf SWF without nerfing survivors in general, because all that SWF is, is a grouping system that enables people to do voice chat prior to starting a game.
And solo survivors can do that if they really had a mind to -- they just need to post their discord or even their Steam ID in the lobby before the game starts.
-
What is this nonsense. NoED has been meta for years.
Small Game is useless and is only good as training wheels for beginners who don't know where totems spawn, or when you are bad against Trapper.
-
Skill gap isn't a problem.
It's a REALITY.
And not something you can ever remove from any game.
You are correct though. Anything that increases survivor objective time will have a bad result on the game unless things are taken to mitigate it on the killer side.
-
I don't mind the killer speed but the problem is it's very hard to hide from the killer and lose them in today's game.
-
"You don’t have time to cleanse totems in red/purple ranks and it’s only a priority if the killer is in a very bad spot"Doesn't this mean that the reason Survivors are genrushing so much, is because the Killer keeps killrushing and there's no time for survivors to screw around if they want to survive?
This problem is a two-way street at high ranks.
If you want to live, you have to genrush.
If you want to 4k, you have to killrush.
That's how it is. At the highest levels of play, people are just bound to efficiency.
The problem is survivors do gens but have other tings to do for some reason. But killers have nothing else to do but hunt survivors. Maybe it's time for some secondary objectives for killers, so survivors don't feel pressured to gen rush all the time.

The hate towards Spirit is beyond me.
I met a survivor who accepted to play even against a Nurse with 3 blinks, but when he played against Spirit, he DCed immediately after he got downed. Like #########, a 3 blink Nurse doesn't mind you, but a Spirit with 2 green add-ons does ?
To be honest I find Spirit harder to fight than Nurse. With Nurse you are either screwed or you aren't. If the Nurse can aim that's it and it's gonna be a short match and that's fine I can move on to my next match quickly. The rest of my team is going down in short order. If she can't you can probably lose her and juke her easy.
Spirit is a lot trickier, she can pull so many mindgames on you, is she using Mother's Ring? Is she faking me? I don't hear the vacuum. Or maybe she is just standing there waiting for me to circle back. Or am I supposed to run away now?
Spirit is a bigger pain to go up against and she can catch you just fine if she really tries. There's no chance to get away either unless she sucks or you have Iron Will, and I don't always bring Iron Will.
-
Myers.
Among the killers he's theone with the most fun gameplay for me. Stealthing and stalking and then going berzerk and killing.
I'd imagine I'd also like Ghost face, but I didn't get around to buying his DLC.

No.

Technicain's stealth has always been broken for me.
My friend and I tested this in SWF, killer can hear you working on the gen from more than a jungle gym away.
It's a crap perk.
-
Bring your Mori's, I don't care.
It'll be fun to finally not have a lag disadvantage in every game.
-
I don't make a habit of making online friends. Actually scratch that. I don't make online friends, period.
I'm not interested in forming SWF friends to play in DBD. And I am certainly not interested in talking to any of them by voice chat. Hearing strangers talk on the internet is annoying as #########. I would rather pull my nails out with some rusty pliers. Only Gen Z people think this way I think. I'm too old for this crap.
If I play a video game with a friend it's someone I know in real life who I've been a good friend with for years. I only have one friend who plays DBD, so sometimes we play DBD SWF but most of the time I play solo.
-
I also think Survivor's status shouldn't be visible to the killer, so the killer doesn't automatically know the survivor has No Mither, and soon to be Second Wind the moment he gets unhooked.

I'm a survivor main that rarely plays a killer unless it's for BP or a daily ritual. I usually play as the Legion, mostly because I like their outfits and their mori.
I just want to start by saying that I fully expect people here to disagree with me or maybe even throw hate my way. I'll also likely forget to check back for comments. But I figured I'd just put my opinion down.
My friend and I have been playing this game for a good bit, like just after Michael was released. We sometimes spent 17 hours a day on the game on our days off because we loved it. Now we hate it and basically don't care anymore. It feels like there's no point trying to survive anymore. If you're not being camped or tunnelled, you have to deal with ######### teammates. My friend and I fix gens, unhook people, and even go back for people when Endgame has been triggered. But we almost never see the same from our teammates.
I won't say I'm a super skilled player. My looping skills are ######### but I'm decent at hiding and I'm pretty reliable when it comes to helping others. But it's gotten to the point where it feels like every update is geared towards helping killers and screwing over survivors. The game doesn't feel fun anymore. It's just something to do to pass the time. Hell, it's gotten to the point that when I do play a killer, I mostly just ######### off the whole match, pretending I'm gonna kill people just so the survivors have an easy match for once and don't have to die on the hook because of ######### teammates.
The game is woefully geared towards killer players and survivors are getting more and more selfish. I've played several matches where survivors intentionally lead a killer to me or follow me around the map making as much noise as possibly to draw the killer to us and then they bail so I get stuck with the killer. It's a lot of BS these days and the BP isn't worth it.
And as for killers, a lot of them aren't OP on their own but when you take some of their built-in abilities and stack other killer perks, it can quickly make certain killers OP and it makes it harder to survive. But it is what it is. I don't fault killers for trying to live their best lives. I do fault them for tunnelling and camping. I won't apologize for saying that those are incredibly annoying techniques that suck the fun right out of the game, especially when you FINALLY have a match where your team is trying to help. My friend and I have gotten to the point where we don't try if we see the match going to ######### because no one else is trying just so we don't get enough BP to rank up because then we might ger better matches. It's sad to say that technique has actually kind of worked. Ranks 14 & 15 seem to be a sweet spot. For us, anyway.
I know everyone has their opinions. And I'm no saint. I've sent some hate mail to killers and other survivors and I'm not proud of that. Sometimes we all get too caught up in the heat of the moment and do things we shouldn't. But I've stopped with the hate mail because, at the end of the day, it is just a game and most of us just want to try and have some fun with it. Every game is going to have its trolls and people that abuse the system, as unfortunate as that is.
Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day and manages to have some fun. Life is too short for all the bullshit, ya know?
Part of the problem is that the Devs have shifted the game towards looping as the only strategy for Survivors, while completely nerfing Survivor Stealth in every possible way.
That's why it feels so helpless if you are a stealth player.
I am a stealth player myself but since the dumbass November patch (or was it Octover?) patch last year Stealth has become so bad that I finally decided to just learn to loop. And now I'm just brainlessly looping killer's asses off and they just whine all day on the forums about how unfair it is that Survivors can loop you for minutes on end.
BHVR needs to get their heads together and fix the basic gameplay design for survivors. Looping as the centerpoint of the entire game is just poor game design.

I will agree that when there's a good team, it seems less like the killers have an advantage. I will also say that there are a lot of killers that are easy to counter (not the players of the killers but the actual killers, not trying to insult anyone's gameplay) but there are some that are more difficult to work against. It's hard not to get the feeling that the game is geared nore towards killers.
However, I think the main issue is with other survivors. When someone is new, you can generally tell and I'm not gonna hate on someone just trying to get a feel for the game. It's the survivors that seem determined to ruin things for others or just don't care about their teammates that ruin things. I just don't understand the logic of sacrificing your teammates when the point is to work together.
The game is just not meant to be played competitively. It's an asymmetric game for starters, and the balance is just such that low rank survivors have hell while high rank killers must struggle.
I think this is fine. The only real problem is when you have 4-man SWF commando squads working like clockwork to beat the killer, or survivor newbs at Rank 20 who have no idea what they're doing and getting owned left and right.
In most situations the game is not too bad.
-
It's only an issue if you are Achievement Hunting.
Achievements should never factor into game balance and mechanical decisions.

Typical instant no, instead of actually addressing a problem and taking part in the discussion.
Anybody else want to contribute to the topic? Preferably something constructive.
That's because it's not a problem.
This is a non-issue from a balance point of view. You are just hunting for an achievement. There is no need to give killers a buff just so you can get an achievement.
If you want an achievement, work for it.
Survivors don't know you are hunting for an achievement, so they will not hold you hostage this way. Even if I did, you can easily get around it just by picking up the survivor from the locker and dribbling him in a corner far away from the lockers, when he gets up, just catch him with your mori.

I'm pretty new to this game, and am only like rank 17 now. Like the third match I ever played in this game, I was a rank 20 killer, and I was matched against a rank 3 survivor. Unfortunately, I did not take a screenshot, as I assumed that was just how the game worked.
I did find it pretty ridiculous at the time, which is why it stood out to me.
My condolences, but it does happen. A lot actually.
My actual skill level as a Survivor is around Green rank, I do break into purple often and sometimes into Red, but that's when I get a good gaming streak. I'm in purple a lot but when I play at that level I tend to lose and die a lot and rarely escape (I can still pip, but I rarely escape at Purple ranks).
I'm at my most comfortable in the green ranks. But I get matched against red rank killers all the time.

Matchmaking is completely broken.
When the Freddy rework came out, I was rank 15 because I haven't played killer for a while. ( I'm not the best though, usually around rank 10)
I thought 15 is a decent rank to get adept archivements, so I only used his three perks, which, of cause, isn't always easy. But this round litterally gave me depression. I barely managed to get three hooks.
At the end it turned out that I played against two red ranks SWF (one of them with OoO) and two purple ranks.
And I was just sitting there, asking myself how this can even be a thing? I thought as yellow I'd get grey or greens, but no, red and purple instead. This was so frustrating that it took me two weeks to get the motivation to play killer again.
I'd prefer to wait 10 minutes longer for a lobby than to be thrown together with people far above my skill and waste 10 minutes in a depressing match I got no chance to get even one kill.
Yeah the matchmaking needs work.
But I think the bigger problem is we just don't have enough players all around the world. we have some 15k-20k players at any given time, but that's around the whole world. Most of those player are in North America I'd imagine, with a good portion in Europe. Then you have the ones in Asia scattered all around, we just don't get enough people in similar regions with good enough ping.
I play against Vietnamese, Malaysian, Singaporean, Thai, Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese players all the time. And the pings are terrible for most of them. If the ping is too bad the matchmaking I think matches me up with someone a little closer but way out of my league (or someone way under my league and I get to bully them).
If we had a larger population of players, we wouldn't have matchmaking problems.
My guess is if the matchmaking can't find a good match within the range and ping of your area, it'll just rank you up and match you against a higher or lower ranked player in your area with better ping, rather than get you a game with an equally-matched player on another continent with 2000 ping.
Personally I think this is better than giving me a "fair match" at 2000 ping. I rather be able to play the game properly and get stomped, than play a slideshow.
I don't have this problem in Overwatch for example, because we have hundreds of thousands of players in that game at any given time.
-
If Killers get addons that increase movement speed, insta-down, extra blinks, reduce cooldown on powers, and other broken effects, then a toolbox shaving off a few seconds from your repair time is positively benign.
Might as well remove all add-ons from the game if you think Toolbox is broken.
Faster sacrifice on hook speed? Seriously? Insta-downs are a much bigger issue than any kind of nonsense hook speed increase.
-
While I agree that Camaraderie and Babysitter are trashperks, Second Wind is actually good in concept, but currently unusable in its current iteration.
It's better than Bond because you can focus on being productive while healing rather than waisting your time running around looking for a teammate, and wasting their time to heal you.
They need to be careful with this perk, it'll make killers angry and result in more genrushing. It replaces MOM and stacks with Adrenaline, so it's got good potential for becoming a meta perk.
DS, Adrenaline, Second Wind and an Exhaustion Perk (Dead Hard, Lithe or BL).
Sounds pretty bad for killers to be honest.
On the other hand if you are BROKEN when you get unhooked then suddenly its usefulness disappears, because the killer will just tunnel you instead. It's like No Mither in this sense, you never get to heal yourself up because the killer knows you have No Mither right at the start of the game.
And you can't use it with Deliverance as Deliverance would prevent you from healing, so it actually works better with Slippery Meat -- and that is terrible.
Unless your team is good at unhooking and the killer isn't camping, this perk isn't going to be useful.
They are going to need to get this just right or else it either becomes like the next MoM, or the next No Mither.
-
- DS is active after the survivor got unhooked
- DS is deactive after another survivor get hooked
- When you use it 1 time, then the perk is deactive until you get unhooked again
- You can use DS only 2 time
- The stun is 3 seconds long
- You leave no scratch marks for 3 seconds
- You dont must hit a skill check for this perk
Sounds like a big buff for DS.
I think DS is fine as it is, but this works for me. It stops killers from getting DS'd even after someone else got hooked, and Survivors get to use it twice AND more importantly don't leave scratchmarks, so they have a good chance of actually getting away.
Overall a huge buff to DS though, can't imagine most killers would go for this.

I don't see Steve as the hardman.
I was skeptical of Steve as a survivor but even if you don't like him so much it's clear there's a lot of people who do and they will spend their money on Steve and make further big additions possible. It helps the game a lot to give in to what people want. They wanted Steve, they get Steve everyone's a winner.
I don't either. Steve is not a hardman or an asshat or anything of the sort. He is a kid lover. He dropped the asshat thing very early on back in Season 1. The real hardass is Billy.
Jonathan is meh, he is like the worst guy in the show and pretty creepy to be honest.
They actually should have gotten either Joyce or Hopper, though to be honest I'd rather they gave us the kids. I guess they don't want child models in the game.

This would be a great idea! It’s not like all Survivors would abuse this and bring the fastest toolboxes, insta heals, and keys all the time! Fair and balanced!
Survivors can't sustain that. Not even killers can sustain using the best add-ons and offerings every match, and killers get a ton more bloodpoints per match than survivors do.
Survivors not only get less bloodpoints per match on average, they also need to buy the item, the add-ons, and the offering -- 4 things compared to the killer's 3.
Get real.
-
No need to make the powers base kit.
Just hide the item from the killer so they don't dodge or bring out their pink moris whenever they see a game with four people using items. Actually just don't show the survivors, period. Show a dark silhouette at the campfire.
The geniuses at BHVR apparently thought that being able to see your enemies before a game starts wasn't a problem -- but the crazy amount of killer dodging in the lobby is proof that it is.

Yeah but Wraith is the King of Campers. Camping wins games. Or at least kills the unlucky sap who Wraith got first. Legion is by far much worse from a killer standpoint because he gives survivors so many second chances.
I actually think the new Freddy is terrible. I feel like I'm just fighting an M1 killer all the time who I can always see and who can't see my every move. Old Freddy was definitely harder. The biggest problem I have with Freddy2.0 is the framerate drop I get when he punts me into the dream world.

Top players are the ones that have more knowledge about the systems of the game and because of that they can send reliable response in term of balance. All ranks are important, but I wouldn't ask someone who is in yellow rank to tell me what's wrong with the game.
Eh, top player make up like just 4% of the population, and are out of touch with how the majority of players play the game.
Let's look at the stupid suggestions top rank killers have suggested:
* Make Ruin baseline
* Make NoEd baseline
* Add secondary objectives
* Double generator repair time
All of these are stupid suggestions that would result in a massacre of blood at the lower ranks, and even in the green and maybe even the purple ranks. They are changes which would utterly decimate the survivor side for at least Ranks 10-20, which is a sizable portion of the playerbase.
The game would not survive if BHVR took the "expert opinion" of these "top players" seriously.
-
@xllxENIGMAxllx said:
A pain to balance of course he will be hard if they don't listen their top players. Legion was the typical exemple in the 2.7.0 PTB.
Killers like to regurgitate this nonsense.
Look at where that's gotten the game. Devs are continuously nerfing survivors because the Top Ranks have it easy for SWF and killers suffer hard there.
Now we're stuck with 10 minute killer queues because there aren't enough survivors.
You do not balance an asymmetric casual game around the top elite players. You balance it around the majority of your playerbase, otherwise that majority stops playing.
Leave balancing at the highest levels to competitive eSports games which have fair and equal conditions for all players and teams. Asymmetric games are a totally different beast.

Not really. A survivor that DC's is usually losing. He would have died anyway whether he DC'd or not. You don't DC when you're about to win and exit.
-
@CoffengMin said:
ive seen ppl say that survival rate at high ranks ends up being of like 70% or something, i honestly dont quite fully believe it but if thats how it is , thats how it is
Those numbers are based on the graph BHVR published where the Rank 1 survival rate was over through the roof, but this was only the case because if the survivors died most would fall to Rank 2, and their death stat counts there instead. So the Rank 1 stat was mostly based on survivors who survived. Peanits confirmed the actual survival rate at Rank 1 was 43%.
-
Springwood may be big but it's mostly unsafe territory. It's a lot of wide open spaces where you are vulnerable and can't really hide. The boiler room is a death trap and worse the basement is often there. The only real safe place on this map is the building with the second floor, and that's only if you have balanced landing. It's easy to get downed on this map, so I'm not sure why you're complaining.
-
No need, if they just fix the ranking and emblem system this wouldn't be an issue.

dind't you see moris yet? Being a surv in low levels is the opposite of a person having fun, and this will kill this game. But devs, go on improving killers and nerfing survivors, in few months you'll play alone.
Survivor main here with 1000 hours in survivor. I play a little killer here and there but I don't enjoy playing killer (or rather staying in the lobby for 10 minutes waiting for a match), so I mostly play survivor.
I do not find low level survivor ranks frustrating.
I actually enjoy playing at the yellow ranks. When I get de-ranked into the beginner ranks during a reset it's even better. Sure, you'll get a bunch of incompetents as teammates a lot, but there are also decent players.
More importantly, killers at these ranks aren't very good at the game yet. They are decent enough at the chase but their game sense isn't well-developed yet. So I can actually juke and stealth them pretty easy with my experience.
In fact my problem is I rank up too fast and get back to green in a few hours, because I do too well in the yellow ranks. Ah well, that's how it is. I don't derank on purpose so when I get back to green the fights start getting more intense, until I get back up to purple and red. I'm not a very good player so by the time I get to purple I'm having a hell of a time surviving.
-
No she doesn't. More like she makes them pointless, since you can just wash up at a fountain and you're better than new. And faster, too.

So now those perks are pointless, and now Survivors already have crap stealth and can't hide if their life depended on it, while Stealth Killers are getting stronger and stronger.
Really love the direction the game is going.
-
Well actually they are. If I go around with my Santa Claus build (which uses Plunderer's) i will get 1 purple or pink key in every maybe 6 games. If my teammates are busy opening chests (and they always are) the rate goes down further.
Of course, that hasn't stopped me from stockpiling them either from Bloodwebs. Or from chests for that matter. A good bunch of the keys I stockpiled came from chests in game.
-
I have done this myself.
Because Ghsot Face is so good at stealthing up to me I sometimes mistake a survivor for him and smash his face.
