I've played this game since 2017 and sure at times I got pissed when I was camped or tunneled, but it gets to a certain point where it's understandable. Tunneling is simply a good strategy to essentially end the game early and release tension through the game. camping is great to secure a kill, or even secure multiple kills depending on your teammates playstyle.

There is a fine line between toxic camping and tunneling and strategic camping and tunneling. Toxic c and t is also imo fine. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and usually at the end all your other teammates escaped because you ran the killer for 8 hours.

Overall killers have camping and tunneling as a strat and us survivors have tbagging, flashlight clicking, dead hard, and pointing as a strat. That can be a whole new topic, but for now camping and tunneling is a strat in the game that will never be changed.

The very last part of the message kinda sounds like what a killer main would say * sus look *

but joking aside, I dont mind if the killer camps and tunnels if its justified, like a survivor mocking the killer and being annoying or when theres 1 or 2 gens left (or gen rushing) or its endgame, I don't mind getting camped if the killer has no choice, but camping right after the game started and no one is being toxic and there's no gen rushing, I just think that the killer is not good enough to end chases and secure kills without it, so I just feel bad about the killer and do gens and hopefully get a 3 man out. The later is getting ridiculous lately tho, seems like most killers (not all) can't play without camping right off the bat without being gen rushed or toxic (not saying it doesnt happen).

That map was god awful. Lerrys and RPD should’ve went with it..

Of all indoor maps I think RPD and Midwich are way worse, I didnt LOVE the map but comparing it with the other indoors I would prefer it 10000x over the rest

  • It was the only indoor map that I didn't mind getting. I do miss it too. They should keep the layout and just redesign the interior so it doesnt look like hawkins and make it a new map :P

  • I wish they gave us cross progression on all platforms so I didn't have to start over on steam, i wanna see profiles too!

I understand the perks and SWFs but this seems too fast . DOES hacking happen in this game? I hear about it, but how common? It's becoming harder to tell... I swear a ghostface walked through a wall the other day. He didn't break it until after he knocked me down.

I dont have any data but from experience im gonna go ahead and say more often than before. I didnt use to see cheaters or I was lucky enough to not see them, but lately i've seen both survivors and killers cheating, and add to that all the subtle cheaters I missed :(

People do actually do this on purpose it's common since servers came out accessing other regions became harder without a VPN, many people have friends in different countries and wanna play together but there's also those who just want the advantage the ping gives them. regradless of the situation, it's cheating plain and simple. A Killer with bad ping is instantly better than a Survivor with bad ping keep that in mind.

that's what im saying, its not always an advantage having high ping, at least for me its always a disadvantage because hit registration usually happens and you get it later. It might happen the other way around as well where they cant hit you cause high ping, but to me it seems like a gamble, and not even worth it. That sucks man

Scooby Doo is alright, it is cartoon true but they are always catching criminals. And plus Scooby Doo has chase part and this fits so well on DbD.

Scooby Doo is always on my mind when I play DBD when im doing a gen and I see a chase in the distance, it literally looks like a SD chase LOL

  • It's not horror per se but I wouldn't mind having a Big Daddy from Bioshock chasing me with a drill

  • Every time I play with someone from Europe my ping is super high and i get hit after I vaulted a window like 5 seconds later lol no way people do this on purpose in the hopes it's the opposite

So every Killer that likes to win is a triggered Killer main?

No, if you tunnel and camp because u like to win it means you aren't skilled enough to win chases and secure kills otherwise shurgs

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

You know what? As a survivor main, I think this logic is stupid.

So just because you don't get 4K and that there's ever the chance of all the survivors escaping, you make the game harder for all survivors?

Why do every killer buff suggestions have to preface an argument that killers NEED a 4K to consider a "win"?

I don't assume I'm going to let all my teammates out in a match and therefore do not even consider a 4 escape a win. To me, a 2 escape is great a win as a 2K.

Some games you get 4K, some games you get none. MOST games you'll get 1~3K. The game is fine.

    Just lower your standards. Sheeh.

Because if they don't get 4k the game is bad and they need to tunnel against those awful survivors that dare to try escape. Most killers do get kills, more often more kills than escapes, IDK why they are complaining about the game being survivor sided when they dont get 4k every single match (which would be killer sided)

I agree that a 2k and 2 escape would mean the game is more balanced even a few all escapes and a few 4ks too.

  • @BuffTrickster said:

Why would I play killer when you and your SWF are just going to finish a gen within the first 40 seconds of the match, use sixteen second chance perks, and wait at the exit gates to taunt?

No, I’m just going to relax on the easy side: survivor.

good luck getting camped and tunnel and see how easy it is to survive

  • @Nos37 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/316459/is-camping-and-tunneling-now-staple-in-killer-matches

Any survivor complaining can simply go play killer and not camp or tunnel.

Soon you'll see that you're just the survivors' Bloodpoint Piñata and stop playing killer, leaving only the killers who camp/tunnel.

I was a killer main for years and the only time i tunneled was if a survivor was tbagging me, not even flashlight clicking, so no. People get triggered so easily these days damn

  • @prion11 said:

Yes, due to the oppressiveness of SWF teams and multiple gens going off with prove thyself 30-40 seconds into the match

lol not even, just had a match with a camper and tunneler, we were all solos (i asked) no one was running BT, DH, whatever perk killers find toxic and not a single flashlight, we didnt gen rush, it was a pretty standard game time-wise, so no, killers just camp and tunnel cause they are either in survivor-hate mode at all times or just bitter overall or i guess they cant secure kills if they dont camp and tunnel shrugs

these past weeks have felt like im playing against baby killers like I did when I started playing dbd

Right. If it's only when the killer DCs early on, sure. But it has to be early enough in the game that no one could do anything, not mid-to-late-game DC. And only if the killer DCs, and it ends the game super prematurely, not if a survivor DCs. That would be the abusable part.

Exactly, thats what im asking, I had a game where the killer dc'd within the first minute or 2 and nobody did a single gen, nobody got chased, he either had bad connection or didnt like the map.

If a survivor DCs nothing should happen, cause the DC will lose their addon and the rest of the survivors and killer will get to stay in game and use theirs.

But you don´t do the gens solo. Prove Thyself only gives bonus points on coop actions + a repair bonus. Now that gen takes not 80 seconds, but only 41 seconds. Blessing a dull totem takes 14 seconds. If those totems are close to each other, you can bless one, then the other one and go back to the first one. You´ll max out Boldness in less than 2 minutes.

You don´t have to beat someone for the unhook. If you reach late for the unhook, don´t turn around and help healing. You won´t get the stack, but you´ll earn healing + coop points. Sure the proposed "hook trading for 3 stacks" is only a last resort. When there are only just a few hooks left. So i would do this only at the end of a match, IF i didn´t get any unhooks, pallet saves or protection hits before that.

Blessing maxes out super quickly and it maxes the blessing, not the category, just by doing 2 boons you wont get an iri out of it.

Prove thyself might help with light bringer (which btw just researched and it gives u 1 ooint per gen percentage worked on, an iri is 270 points which means u need 2.7 gens by yourself) but if you don't max out the other categories you won't get more points than the killer, unless, again, the killer is an absolute baby and couldn't win chases, down people, hook them and sacrifice them.

Trading for hook means you won't max the survival points, cause you got hooked / got downed. If you go against a decent killer you need to max out most of the categories to even come close to getting more BP than them.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2873011#Comment_2873011

Its not super rare if you focus on earning as much bloodpoints as possible. As you said, you´ll max out the categories pretty fast. 1 1/2 gen with Prove Thyself is enough to max out lightbringer (not the emblem, just the bloodpoints). When i spot 2 dull totems that are close to each other, i´ll toogle between the 2 until i maxed out Boldness points. Of course, i´ll do that by the end of the match, not at the beginning. Now for altruism, i´ll try to go for save unhooks (both of us), but when there is not much else to do, i´ll happily trade a hook stage vs 2 or 3 stacks of WGLF.

You make it sound so easy im sure you are definitely not a survivor main.

Doing 2 gens by yourself is not as easy as it sound unless the killer is focusing on one or 2 chases and stay on it (not winning chases or having a hard time downing someone), again, most likely u go against baby killers cause good killers will keep you off a gen.

Cleansing 2 totems won't give u all the points you need, then you need to get chased and then win the chase, not just one, unless it's a long one.

The beat someone for the unhook and do some healing, taking hits, etc for altruism, which also keeps u off gens, then make sure to safely escape.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/316296/what-is-going-on-with-the-community

The problem is that people in forums (especially of a game) often watch content creators. And they also like to repeat what the content creator said.

You can literally wait for content_creator_x to release a video, and suddenly there are 10 posts about this problem.

Also: People are very passionate about a game they play for 300h, 500h, 800h, 1000h, 2000h(+). Of course, you get annoyed with certain parts of the game. EVERY game i was checking out in the community (Discord, Twitter, Forums, etc.) is the same. When it's a small game with a few people, it's nice, cozy and everyone gives a constructive critique. But then they grow and more people that don't know how to "complain the right way" join, and the snowball comes to form bigger.

Now 2 people complain, another one thinks it's a thing that always happens, then another one, etc. and so most problems seem way bigger than they are. This bubble grows inside of itself. That's why conspiracy works too, and so does a forum.

You can see that with the high MMR argument. There are so many claiming they are high MMR because they win a lot of games.

But even if you win 100games in a row, no one knows what MMR you have, except BHVR. AND EVEN NOW we don't know any comparison to low MMR (except play-style).

But this argument doesn't work if you watch people that play that game every day for 4h+ and win the majority of their games and still get "bad" players. The same i get "good" players with 5000h+ in my lobby.

    Now back to the complaining:

The question should be "A lot of people complain, and it seems like they hate everything about the game, why does it seem that way?". A lot is frustration aka "i had a bad game and now need to vent" or some similar stuff where people couldn't get a DH player and say DH is the most broken thing, and everyone says so too :O EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE RIGHT!!!!!111!!!!

Even though i see more people messing up their dead hard than people actually using it well. I still don't like it, but it's definitely not as bad as a lot of people want to make it to be

    This so much.

I'm sure 95% of people come here right after having a bad match, and complain or wanna talk about it, I know I have. Im sure most of you have if not all.

I really don't see why so many people complain about DH, I used to main killer and only played killer for a long time and even if they succeeded at their DH i caught up, many screw up and if u get super close to them most of them will use it and you can catch up.

Now about CoH, I'm now a survivor main and I gotta say that yeah it's nice to have an area to heal but most of the times I find we waste so much time looking for totems then blessing, then, after you're chased, if you escape you gotta run to the other side of the map to heal. I found myself not doing that many gens cause I was busy looking for a totem or rebooning, killers complain that someone they lost their chase against got healed when that person would've most likely been healed anyway by their teammates, yes its a faster heal inside a boon, but they already lost time off gens finding totems and blessing, then if the killer gets rid of it and know the boon location it's VERY likely it will keep getting undone so you need to run around the map and look for another location wasting more time you could be using on Gen repair

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2872970#Comment_2872970

May i introduce We Gonna Live Forever to you? Existed before BBQ, gives the same amount of bloodpoint bonus and its easier to get stacks with it.

I mean, if you want, i can spam you with screenshots where i as solo survivor earn the same amount or even more bloodpoints than the killer.

The myth that killers earn more is like 5 or so years old and outdated. The devs did a fine job in matching the bloodpoint gains for both sides.

If you take a full farm build with WGLF, Prove Thyself, CoH and BT. You´ll reach max bloodpoints in no time.

It's not impossible but it's super rare, the killer has to do REALLY badly in order for a survivor to get more points. I'm gonna go ahead and assume you get low MMR killers where they don't sacrifice and you can easily win chases.

Blessing a totem does give you points but it gets maxed out super quickly. To get all iris you need to do at least 2 gens by yourself, safely unhook 2 players and help with healing, get chased and win all chases because you can't get downed / hooked and then escape. I've gotten more points then the killer when the killer is an absolute baby, but that rarely happens.

  • @Marcavecunc said:

Too easily abusable by survivors, they won't do it.

Source: every time they implement a new thing that can be abused by survivors, it gets abused by survivors.

How on earth would it be abusable by survivors? They don't mandate whether the killer wants to DC or not.

If a survivor DCs the game continues and everyone still in the game gets to use their offerings.

But if a killer DCs a minute after the game starts he screws everyone up cause the game ends.

I'm just asking to get offerings back that were practically unused cause the killer dc'd

  • If there was gate regression you'd see at least one survivor at the gate keeping it 99 while the rest unhook or do whatever. I'm sure killers would complain about that too

  • @Bwsted said:

No. I can count on one hand the times I've seen it in the last few months.

Basically, Resilience gamer do it, although still very rarely in my opinion. Generally, they don't heal altogether. Or, sometimes against Legion.

But that too is exceedingly rare.

I thought so, I used to main Spirit a few years ago and I don't think I ever saw a survivor 99'd, I did se very few people trying to heal while looping, but other than that I never encountered that during my killer main era.

  • @TheArbiter said:

  • Also, where is everyone seeing these changes (or in the case of this thread, they didnt change it)? did i miss some update in the forum? am I blind? I don't see patch notes

  • How do you suggest its nerfed? I don't see what can be modified other than the exhaustion rate

Some maps are just ######### and while I don't encourage people to DC, I can't blame someone for not wanting to endure a SWF on Badham.

And no, if a Survivor DC's early the game IS over. Unless the MM has really really ######### up, you will not win a 3v1.

The game is over for the survivors, but not the killer, the game continues and people does get points for the duration of the match, even if the survivors give up, the killer gets chase/hook points, when a killer DCs right after seeing the map, survivors most likely wont even get a chance to get on a chase or to do a gen

  • @Warcrafter4 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2870813#Comment_2870813

I think addressing why killers are leaving within the first minute when survivors throw everything they have at the killer is more pertinent of an issue over losing add-ons/offerings.

There's not much that can happen during a minute to make the killer leave, a gen lasts 80 seconds, unless a SWF decided to spawn all together and gen rush in less than a minute, i'd say yes, it's enough to leave, but that wasnt the case, no gen was done, no chase happened, I think the killer literally just DC'd, like connection issues

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I think only specific items should be refunded , specifically cakes, and bloody party streamers, and if they are being refunded, they aren't being applied in the current match. No exploitation that way.

Sucks when you save those for a special occasion then the killer DC's or the match crashes and it's gone :(

Yeah, I was also thinking more like, map offerings and addons as well.

Nobody did a gen, nobody got on a chase so points were minimal during that game :/

  • @Pulsar said:

On the one hand, I hated using good add-ons as Killer only to get a bad game where Survivors DC'd.

On the other hand, RPD, Haddonfield, Badham, Cowshed ect ect

Yeah but the rest of the players shouldnt be punished because you didn't like the map, they should at least get their stuff back if the killer dc's right after the game started.

If a survivor dc's nothing happens, the game continues, only if they dc during loading is when the game ends and you do get your stuff back.

  • @sizzlingmario4 said:

If a survivor dcs, then the killer should get their stuff back, but not their teammates, as that would be abusable by swfs.

If the killer dcs all the survivors should get their stuff back.

if survivors DC after starting the match they just DC the game doesnt end so that wouldnt apply, im talking about a killer deciding they dont wanna play the match anymore super early during the match, not halfway through it

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

If match did not cancel, offerings and add-ons should go like normal. I don't think this system needs any change.

    Lol this

  • Because they can actually see themselves.

Just because u dont see a meta with new perks doesnt mean they dont run them, I do run 2 recent perks out of 4. If killers keep getting new perks and characters then the logical thing is to give survivor also new perks and characters even if "they are just skins" it even makes MORE sense to keep giving survivor skins being them the only ones that can ACTUALLY SEE THE SKIN THEY ARE WEARING lol

Then stop throwing every pallet & prepare for the end game. You're acting like you deserve to win because 5 gens popped.

    News flash: You don't.

Also; you sound like a dollar store Sluzzy.

    that name is fitting

  • I'm gonna get half the forum on me but I honestly dont understand the hate for CoH. Yeah players can heal themselves IF they escape from you. The survivors only get to heal if the killer didnt win the chase. The survivors that are not being chased would get heals from other survivors even without CoH plus they are wasting time going to the other side of the map to heal instead of doing gens or unhooking.

Shadow step seems more efficient to me as a survivor, it's easier to lose the killer and go back to doing gens, but thats just me.

  • Since I run boons - I prefer shadow step over any other (before u come for me over CoH) - and if I'm in a map where I feel comfortable playing, I will try to run around and look for one or 2 totems, do gens, if we are doing fine gen wise i'll run some more and see where all totems are for boons and for NOED. Once NOED is triggered I know where to look for it.

This was specially handy when I got another "you all start with traps and can't find the boxes unless you do the first gen, but imma block one of those boxes" pig game, when we did the last gen I KNEW they had NOED cause thats the whole build, found it before the pig could find us, escaped.

    1. SWAMP
    2. Coldwind Farms Maps
    3. Midwich Elementary
    1. Swamp is bad because it's grey everything and i personally cant find anyone ever.
    2. Coldwind Farms more like Haddonfield 2.0
    3. Midwich has pallets at every corner, anywhere it's ridiculous

Im a survivor main and I also hate midwich and coldwind.

I think midwich is a terrible map for both killers and survivors, except if you're a nurse or a doctor.

Playstyles are perfectly fine but unnecessary actions like bm'ing or doing something that you don't need to, like bleeding me out when the game is over is pointless when I never bm'ed you.

yes true, but playing for 7 hours and not having a single game where i just played nicely, or had some survivors trying to actually play the game instead of holding m1, kinda says a lot

Are u sure you are not mostly frustrated about specific games and bringing the frustration to the other games and seeing everyone as toxic?

I'm not blaming u, im genuinely asking. When I'm in a bad mood, most of what i do after either goes wrong or I take it the wrong way, just cause of the way i feel. It might be that u had a clickity survivors match that really sucked, then the next one no one is being toxic but you dont win a few chases cause you're not focused enough thinking about how angry you are cause of the past survivors, then a current survivor drops a pallet on you, so you immediately feel like he must be toxic.

If I was playing 7 hrs and was feeling like all games were toxic, i'd reevaluate my choices at staying so long doing something that is obviously not good for my mental/emotion wellbeing.

you my friend are in the right MMR, come to mine and see how "nice" people are

every single game i played was toxic, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM

I'm not saying it happens all the time, its rare, but when it happens I appreciate it

  • Ah killers are toxic cause they are FORCED to be toxic, i see. You can say the same for survivors, they are toxic cause they get tunneled/camped, its a vicious circle.

In reality, it goes both ways, there are toxic killers because they are just aholes same as there are toxic survivors cause they are aholes. I hate when survivors stay during end game collapse just to tease the killer, and i hate when killers punish non-toxic survivors just cause they see ALL survivors as toxic.

If a piggy lets me boop her snoot, I let her hit me, I don't expect her to be friendly just cause she let me boop her, im ok with her downing me and hooking me.

I love when a killer is wholesome (not saying they need to let us win) there was a wholesome billy that killed 2 survivors early in game, noticed we were pretty much done and I asked him to hook me cause there was really no way for us to win, he refused and let us do a few gens instead to get point, he did end up killing one and giving hatch to other, he didn't have to do that, he couldve gotten an easy 4k and decided to let us get a few points before finishing the game, I appreciate those killers-
