If a killer needs addons to be functional it's honestly broken in a bad way.

Killers who don't need addons to be able to play well are the balanced ones.

Wouldnt it be the opposite? wouldnt they be OP if they didnt need addons to give them an extra boost?

On a killer like Blight or Nurse, it is way too strong in public matches. If you don't think so, it means you only play in a 4 man SWF.

I'm a solo player, and if the randoms know what they are doing its easy to counter, but unfortunately there are some than even after noticing those perks they dont leave the gen smh

  • @AndyKuky said:

“Hey killers, please stop playing good perks so we can gen rush you and teabag as we leave”.

They can use other good perks instead of running the cookie cutter killer 101 perks, bbq is fine, but they could be mixing it with pop, call of brine, corrupt intervention, undying/ruin, even doing gens together with meciless storm, theres always that damn survivor that wont hit the skillchecks and mess the gen up, i hate doing group gens when that perk is up. Im missing more perks but its just an example of how they can not run only those 2 ALL THE TIME :/

And I'm not talking about killers passing through survivors.

    Survivors can block other survivors.

Oh yeah that too, I've been held hostage by survivors and never by killers, this should be a thing too

  • I think it makes sense, it rarely happens but it would have to be a minute or maybe more, not seconds.

    @Tsulan said:

Why not add passing though survivors as well?

Cause no survivor traps a killer in a corner, the killer can just hit them and down them. Sadako does tho :P

There's no use for killers to run through survivors if they are idle/not moving, OP is not talking about passing through killers when they block a pallet, they're talking about actually preventing the survivor from moving and taking them hostage, the killer is just standing in front of them for a long time, not moving and not letting the survivor move, that situation doesn't happen the other way around

  • lol i got tunneled by a spirit that saw i had shadow step, the game was obviously harder for her cause she couldnt see our scratchmarks, it was funny, not even mad i probably would've done the same, I used to main spirit lol

  • I prefer shadow step over CoH most times, but as someone who uses boons i think I sometimes waste too much time looking for totems to boon when I could be doing gens, same when they get cleansed and u need to go back or find another one.

Sometimes I dont boon at all cause I waste time doing them

  • @Sluzzy said:

Boring and OP. It needs a nerf because most teams can't overcome it. Survivors shouldn't auto-lose because of perks.

Lol, if u had read the whole text you would've read its easy to counter, not saying teams cant overcome it, if you're smart its easy to counter, its just boring

  • @Adaez said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/315785/this-killer-meta-is-so-boring

Because survivor meta of coh, dead hard,ds is not boring at all.

Both sides just use what's best, its always gonna be like that

I rarely see DS anymore since the nerf, i do agree that COH is used a lot

I personally dont use exhausting perks so can't say much about DH

I only counter this argument with a simple question... What choice do they have?

"A few months ago"? Even then there wasn't much a killer could do to slow down the survivors gen progression speeds, and now it's even worse. The bottom line I'm getting at is that While I'd LOVE to make a full ATTACK POWER build that forces survivors to abandon objectives in order to keep up with their losses, the truth is that they have gained far more "2nd chance" and "Gen Speed" advantages over the killers ability to counter them other than to slow down the survivors primary objective. Basically, Killers are FORCED into this position, but funny enough, survivors aren't... they just choose their meta because it's almost always guaranteed a win. I can't lie, Hex Pain Resonance was a GOD SEND For killers though, even choosing their meta doesn't guarantee a win, but at least it gives them a decent chance to gain one.

TBF, If a survivor team came in with full non-meta builds against me now, I'd most definitely lose... because I've been conditioned to expect what they normally bring in. In a way, I feel that this is also the sole reason I do so well as Plague... Because survivors these days just don't know how to effectively play against her, especially when they rely on CoH, seriously, I'm having a ball against survivors as Plague now more than I ever did before!

I completely disagree with this, they ultra nerfed toolboxes and they got rid of the gen progression while hitting a skillcheck. Killers have far more options to slow down gens than survivors do at making them progress faster.

They also got rid of insta heal while almost all killers have an addon to down survivors with one hit, one killer has the option to kill healthy survivors in such an easy way. There's other killer perks for slowing down gens that arent as boring as that meta, pop is such a great perk that i always use when i play killer, they buffed thanato as well, corrupt is also good, there are so many

  • @Kangaroohugs said:

I quite like running Autodidact, Small Game, Epathetic Connection, and Botany Knowledge as a survivor. It gets fun though when your teammates yell at you for not having BT, because they are being hooked camped/tunneled.. so they either die on hook or you just leave. Then you have the killers that laugh at you because you didn't bring Dead Hard @_@

Not defending survivors, just saying if we don't run those perks- we get a lot of flak from killers and survivors alike. Or I have :/ Maybe I just get the sad lonely hour people.

I mostly solo survive, i dont use exhaustion perks, at all, the only OP perk I run is maybe iron will cause I main Jane and her moaning is so loud!

Using those 2 perks as a slow down meta is so boring, there are other perks they can use to slow down gens, Pop is OP I love that perk when I play killer

  • @lauraa said:

i have lots of fun with bbq, agitation, starstruck pain res as well as lethal pursuer, bbq, no way out and NOED. Yeah ok, BBQ might be old hat, but it's just too useful for me to take off. I can't help it.

bbq is a given and i dont even mind killers using it, at least bbq will make u either go for a locker or run one direction and then the opposite or something, the other 2 you just sit and wait at the gen

  • @TWiXT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2868038#Comment_2868038

IKR? Where's the variety? Gimme a good survivor with Spine Chill, Alert, Botany Knowledge, and Lucky Break any day, and It will both be nothing I expected, and far more effective in throwing me off than any of the current "cookie cutter" survivors I face at mid-high sbmm.

The only difference between the survivors meta vs. the killers meta is simple: Survivors only go after anything that gives them multiple chances against the killer, and killers only go after anything that can buy them more time against a "gen rush" so they can actually get a few hooks in if not a kill or 2 by the endgame. Survivors objective is well, objective based, but the killers objective is entirely time based. The more time the killer saves = the more chance they have to complete their objective. The more time the survivors waste for the killer = the faster they complete their objectives.

Is it any wonder at all WHY the killers "Meta" is based solely around information and game delaying perks? More than that, does OP honestly think for a second that the survivors meta isn't "BORING" for the killers?

again if you would've told me that a few months ago i would've agreed, but i see way more variety in the perks i see from my random teammates than the killers these days

  • I rather have a ruin-undying killer that will make me go around looking for totems than just sit and wait at the gens.

I could say the same about survivors there are SO MANY perks that you would consider meta, there's more variety in survivors than killers nowadays. I would've agreed a few months ago, but now most killers run that basic build

It doesn’t reset to 5 min after exactly 24 hours, so if you recently got disconnected and already had 5 min it does escalated if you are disconnecting again in a specific timeframe after.

the exact timeframes are not officially revealed as to not support/promote dc-ing every x hours

This could be what happened, Im not sure if i had a dc in less than 24 hrs but it makes sense.

Your best option is to solve the box and hope Ceno doesn't teleport to you

    Thanks i didn't know this

Ah thought you were talking about killer - and pipping has been more difficult on that side.

As for survivor, I've been going against a lot of boosted Blights at R1 and basically have to force scoring events for myself to get more pips/bps out of a match at times. Other than that I found it easier to pip / win as survivor today even as soloqueue

I just got a 3 iridescent game, but it took me doing most of the gens and most of the unhooks, when before it took 2 gens and 2 unhooks and maybe a heal. I feel like i need to do WAY more to actually pip now. I hope it's just a perspective and i won't feel the same way tomorrow

  • @ZCerebrate said:

The SWFs are out to test their mettle against the new killer (or well bully potential). I'll at R1 but the number of SWFs I'm facing has been a bit obnoxious - same with most of the streamers spamming blight games

Well i dont play SWF, i solo 95% of the time, and i dont see how that has anything to do with my question lol but ok i guess

  • I've been red rank and mostly rank 1 since the second month i played this game, been playing for over a year and today is the first day i find REALLY HARD to safety pip at rank 4

  • I got the oni guys!! :)

Thanks for all the feedback and help!

  • I mained survivor for over a year. I only played a few killer matches just to do the archives to get the rift, thats it. Now I've been maining killer for the past 2 weeks and am already rank 2, while it took over a month for me to get red ranks as survivor. I find that pipping/ranking up as a killer is WAY easier, especially cause killers get more points per game overall.

Agreed that could be a bit frustrating going against tryhards/toxic survivors but out of 10 games I probably 4k most of them and maybe have 2 games where all escape.

    I'm liking killer life

  • I'm getting Oni :) it's funny how he was my last option cause }i'm so scared to use him with a controller and now he's my top one after reading all the comments!

  • I'm still confused why there couldn't be cross-progression between Microsoft's platforms... Both xbox and microsoft store share the game in the game pass, and use the same login info and stuff. I don't know the technical stuff that goes behind it, but it would seem that cross-progression between Microsoft/xbox would be easier and would make more sense? idk..

I'm also bummed cause i play on xbox and i will be getting a pc in a few months, losing all the progress and exclusive cosmetics (like the rift) :(

  • I see a lot of Onis, he was actually my last choice but i might actually get him after all these comments!!

Thank u, all of your comments have been super helpful <3

  • Ever since rank 20 I preferred to do the gen by myself, because I knew that's how I'd max points faster, if someone joins then points are split by half and so on.

As killer I also use discordance because I notice most survivors work on gens together, I rarely see solo gens exclusively as killer or survivor. If survivors actually focused on the gen and not going after the killer when he's chasing someone, or having 2 people go for a hooked person, it would be much more effective for them, but then again 95% of the time I play solo, i don't like SWF cause it takes longer to find matches.

  • @Zagrid said:

Sony and Microsoft have been at a console war for a while, so having cross progression I don't think is something they want.

For nintendo and PC it makes sense since Switch really isn't a "console" its a blend between a handle held and console so there isn't really any intense competiton.

I get the Sony and Xbox part, but it doesnt make sense between xbox one and xbox/microsoft pc store, since like the OP said, they are both included in the game pass.

As an xbox player who's going to get a pc in a few months I'm bummed by these news, it seems it will likely not happen, and all the pregression and cosmetics will be a waste :/ I will never get some unique cosmetics, like the rift ones and will have to start from scratch and buy stuff again.

    *cries in console pleb*

  • I was playing against what was obviously a low rank SWF, they were really bad, and when I run into groups like that I usually hook them once or twice and don't finish the kills, and let them finish the gens and escape. So that's what I did, I felt really bad because 2 of them died on first hook because the others were too afraid to unhook them even tho I was nowhere near them.

I found a meg literally on a corner of the map hiding, close to a gen. I walked to the gen and hit it to let her know I wanted her to finish it, she didnt get it. I downed her, carried her to the gen and kept slapping it... I grabbed her and downed her until she was free and she just ran away scared shitless lol I had to literally message her to let her know I just wanted her to finish the gen. They invited me to a party saying they had no idea I was trying to be nice to the remaining 2, they were so grateful and obviously very new to the game, it was adorable.

Other time I was a survivor playing against a demo, my teammates were also obviously low ranks and they all died while I hadn't even been hit. I went to the hatch and Demo arrived at the same time, he closed it and we just stood there looking at each other for a while lol, he then hits me and I made the "follow me" sign and went to the basement that was next to the hatch. I pointed at the hooks and did a "yes" motion, he finally hooked me. He messaged me later saying that was the nicest thing he's experienced with a survivor lol

Out of those choices. Be prepared being hated for practically no real reason.

You get kills, you're apparently t a sweaty trash killer. You dont get kills, they'll bag on you for being a trash killer...

It's not uncommon. Personally I like playing all those choices. And main Legion. But everytime i actually do good with any of them. I'm bagged on with hate.

This made me laugh, yeah! I already know I'll get msgs after the game (since console doesnt have chat after the game we get DMs) regardless of the killer I play. That reminded me when I started playing killer i was probably rank 17 going against red ranks, when they all survived the rank 2 messaged me saying I was trash... like.. really? didn't he see my rank? lol

Right now I'm maining spirit and I'm loving her, but I really want to try a new one :) these comments have been super helpful!

I main Oni on ps4, and I 4K every game. The only times I lose is when I go against a 4 man swf with unbreakable, and even then I get very close to winning. He's a lot of fun and I think you should play him. Don't be afraid with controller.

Thanks! I remember how people struggled especially on console when it first came out, but i think they fixed some things. It's super helpful hearing this from a fellow console player, thanks! :)

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

They all have some pros and cons:

Oni: Probably the most effective killer of these four (most people place him as a top-tier killer thanks to his ability). His Demon Dash is fantastic (borderline OP with the right add-ons) and his quiet terror radius can let him be cheeky with M&A. However, he has to build up and keep recharging his power. Probably the second hardest character to generally play on your short-list (after Deathslinger). I think he's a blast, but he seems to attract a lot of weird bugs, kind of like Wraith does.

Clown: He's good at shutting down loops and dropping pallets early (though I personally still think Freddy is a better version of him). If you don't have Pop Goes the Weasel, that could be a decent justification to get Clown (it's arguably one of the best killer perks available right now). I see him as an easier, but somewhat less powerful, version of Huntress. Plus he can dress like a plush elephant or Santa, so there's that.

Legion: Generally good at keeping survivors injured (though I think Legion struggles on big maps). Also one of the best Bloodpoint-generators in the game. They also give you Discordance, which is a great perk, along with Mad Grit (not great, but hilarious when it works), and Iron Maiden (useful for guys like Doc and pleasant on Huntress).

Deathslinger: Pretty good at gathering hits at short loops (or loops with long, straight walls), but can also reel survivors up near windows to hit them (he's good at dealing with Shack). Super weak to coordinated survivor teams because of his low mobility and need to focus on one survivor at a time. I personally think Deathslinger is kind of hard to play well due to his need for precision and high penalties for missing, but it is pretty satisfying to spear a survivor with his gun. I lose with him a lot in red ranks, but at least I have fun losing with him.

If I was to recommend any of these killers for playing at red or purple ranks, Oni would get my vote. If you're more looking for a killer who offers some technical fun, then Deathslinger. I think Legion and Clown are more valuable for the perks they provide and their ability to gain lots of BP, but they do have their fans as well. Use all this how you will.

This is SUPER helpful! thanks a lot!

Yes, i do have pop :) the only clown perk i'm missing is coulrophobia (which i dont really care for) but pop is for sure the perk i always use as killer, i love it.

thanks again for all the feedback! will sure make a more informed decision <3

  • @The_Krapper said:

Oh you edited it lol Oni wasnt an option a minute ago, definitely Oni

Yeah my bad! as soon as I hit publish I noticed I missed Oni!!

Oni seems pretty interesting, but again I'm worried about the mechanics with controller, but I won't know until I play him lol

  • Same for me, im on Xbox and escaped twice as Meg, crown, glowing, sparkles and all...

  • @FireHazard @FichteHiro Thanks guys. It's weird i had always had a second chance if I missed it, but maybe it was just not registering.

  • @Schmierbach said:

Your right OP. Your post is the saltiest thing I have ever read. Don't taunt next time. I did chuckle a little when you called it "tradition" though, nice try.

I don;t understand getting pissed about teabagging at the door. If the gates are open and I don't have a hooked person or a chase, I sit in the corner and wait for them to leave. just dont give them the satisfaction

Or do that. I've done that as a killer many times if I see they opened the door and they arent leaving yet.

I see people get offended super easily after this thread, thanks guys 😂

  • Why do people take so seriously exit door tbagging? When I play killer I couldnt care less if survivors tbag at the door. It doesnt trigger me at all, it's such a common thing I don't see why people get upset over it.

Facecamping is NOT a common thing. Unless it happens during endgame, and if it does I dont get salty over it, I understand the killer just wants to secure a kill. *shurgs*

  • @ThisGuuy83 said:

Well, that's just good stuff right there . Talk about karma biting you in the ass... Lmao

    😂

Hey clearly I had a blast watching him get gen rushed and tbagged at the exit by the other 3 survivors, so yeah, 10/10 would experience it again 😂

  • @OrangeJack said:

The guy is a genius clearly.

Seriously tho, why t-bag at gates. I'm not buying your "byee" story.

When I hit that survivors 3 times while he was on hook It was really a pat on the back and a good luck with your next game kinda thing.

why would anyone in their right mind get triggered by that? Like I said, at this point is pretty much tradition. When I play killer i couldnt care less if they tbag or not in the gates, as long as they dont do it during a chase or to taunt

  • @Reborn2020 said:

    You just made the list!

    I'm famous :'D

  • tbag at the doors is meaningless at this point. If i do it it's cause its "tradition" not cause I wanna make the killer angry or to be toxic. If I'm the killer, IDC if they tbag at the door, at all. If they tbag during a chase tho, thats a different story

  • @Rivyn said:

Not that I'm aware of? Could be because of Deathslinger. His lower TR makes Nurses a nice pick, and Thana for his deep wounds.

I noticed that Deathslingers run Nurse's a lot. Funny thing is out of the 6 killers, only one was a Deathslinger.

    It was just weird lol

  • Thanks guys, I've noticed that, doesn't matter how I move, the bar barely moves and with my luck I'm always getting stuck in the open so no objects to put between us :(

  • @FireHazard said:

Depends on the time of day for queue times or how big the xbox one player-base is at the moment.

At any rate, if they did implement that for xbox than they would have to do it for every version, plus you were still dodged so it doesn't change the fact that you have to re-queue i'm afraid.

I know, we are gonna requeue anyway, but at least it may make killers reconsider dodging the next time :/

  • @FireHazard said:

    @thesuicidefox

    No, it's not.

You could dodge 1000 times and it isn't bannable, it isn't listed in the game rules as a bannable offence so it isn't bannable. I don't see why it would be anyways, it doesn't do anything besides make your match-making longer.

Here's the link where every bannable offence is listed:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

When red rank survivors on xbox already have 10 mins queue, I wish it was, or at least make the timer to find a new lobby longer for dodgers :/

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 8
