It happened to me.

Literally 4 minutes ago. I pre-chose Doctor, switched last 5 seconds and they thought I was going to be Doctor.
I meant as an intended feature, I hope they stop that software from working in the near future but it's not that big of a deal. I personally rarely run into people who have it.

This change will hurt new surv players more than anything. Imagine Truetalent using a new r20 killer and the amount of new players he'll destroy in the process. Just bc a killer is new doesnt mean a killer main doesnt already know how to run tiles and mind game his power.
Yeah this is a point that I've been thinking about, with the exception of Nurse, Billy, and Huntress, once you become good with one killer you become good with most in the game. I don't play a lot of trapper, and the game is then gonna match me with low tier players, but that doesn't mean I'm a baby who doesn't know how to play an M1 killer, I'm gonna mindgame the crap out of the poor newbies that this new system is gonna match me with, so yes, I completely agree that's another big reason you shouldn't be looking forward to this change.

@mylesmylo said:
Wait are survivors going to know which killer they are playing? That's really bad if so, because I'm going to be dodging a spirit, huntress and gunslinger everytime lol
I haven't heard anything about that, while I think the devs have made some questionable decisions in the past I think they know the absolute hellscape that that would produce.
-
I hope not, PGTW rewards the player for doing well and hooking a survivor compared to ruin which was "oh cool you equipped me". Pop is quite literally the only good gen regression perk left in the game, and most mid to low tier killers in high ranks NEED it in order to consistently do well. Unless they buffed most killers to compensate or a new good regression perk is added, I think the community would lose their #########. Because the ruin nerf made sense, while it sucked and most players needed to adjust to play without it, there was a concrete understandable reason for the nerf, if Pop got nerfed it would just be a kick in the nuts at this point.
-
I've mained demo since his launch and his best build by far is BBQ, STBFL, Corrupt Intervention, and Pop.
-
The only two perks I find annoying are DS and Dead Hard. The only change they need to make to DS is make it so it deactivates when another survivor is hooked, they could even increase the time on it as long as they made this change. As a killer in high ranks when you have a lot of momentum it makes no sense to be punished for hooking someone you hooked like 2 hooks ago and get 59 second DS'd, most killers in the game thrive on having consistent momentum and losing it can cost them the game. As far as Dead Hard goes, I just don't like people Dead Harding for distance, because there is physically nothing you can do about it, they fall short of a pallet and your about to get a hit, they press E and get 3 more free loops that can spiral into adding another 60 seconds to the chase which is time you can't afford to lose. As far as how they would change it I honestly don't know how they would do it because reducing the distance you lunge forward would make it so that when you actually dodge a hit you can't get anywhere afterwards. That's honestly it in my opinion, BT doesn't bother me because it's easily counter-able, Adrenaline can be annoying when an entire team is running it but most of the time I don't have a problem with it. Unbreakable is completely fine, no complaints there and all the other exhaustion perks are annoying, but balanced.

Alien

The only indoor map that actively makes my blood boil is the new one, Hawkins doesn't bother me all that much, and The Game is just boring.

Nothing will change, the devs will come on here with their usual troll posts, daring you to change games if you're unhappy. You will never see a Billy in the live game again. Devs will continue to stick their heads in the sand, release more mediocre killers, and nerf the strong ones until people finally have enough of their crap and quit playing.
These. ^
I have recently lost all belief that the devs give a #########, I love this game but since last year they just turned really money hungry and don't care about the community because "they know better than you just because they worked on the game" despite the fact that all the new changes and add-ons cater towards rank 20s.
-
They took someone they were completely fine and happy with, and gutted him. A sad day it is.

BBQ, Pop, Corrupt, and a perk of your choice, I recommend STBFL, Devour Hope, Haunted Grounds, anything really, but lethality perks like those tend to be best on Clown.

Lot to unpack here. Its really difficult to dismiss Springtrap because of the "classic slasher" theme, considering L4D and Stranger Things exists(also being a love letter to slashers is a bit of a stretch). But the one thing all these characters have in common is "horror", which whether is the popular opinion or not, FNAF falls under. The argument that the games are made for kids is pretty solid, Id even say it were true for the newer games, but the game Springtrap is from is definitely a horror game and the lore behind him is better than some that are already in the game. But not only lore, Springtrap would be more terrifying than a lot of the killers in the game.
Im not arguing he should be in the next chapter, or the one after that, I'm just debunking the arguments I've seen the most that dont make any sense. I really want Alien over anything right now, but Id love to see Springtrap in year 5 or 6. But I agree im not a fan of IT or Silent Hill.
But I really appreciate the rant, it was a good read.
Honestly if we got Springtrap later down the line and they made him scary with an interesting mechanic I don't think people would be that mad because at the end of the day it's another killer. I completely agree about Alien though, been hoping for it since Myers was released as the first license and it was always kind of just a fever dream until Demo was released, just worried about the possibility of it happening since it's owned by the mouse.
-
The only reason I don't recommend this game to others is because of all the DLC, it's very overwhelming for a new player to come into a game that has so much DLC especially when some of it is nearly required.
-
Demogorgon, Clown would be a close second. ALSO CLOWN NEEDS CHASE MUSIC. PREFERABLY THIS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWVFEVWJMz8&feature=emb_title

@scenekiller said:
My question is, why is Springtrap such a hot topic today? Did I miss something?
(Admittedly, I don't really keep up on much so it's possible)
When Silent Hill was released all the FNAF fans saw this as an announcement that any video game character could be in the game despite the fact that we've had Bill from LFD in the game for the better part of 3 years, a petition was then made to get Springtrap into DbD, and all the FNAF fans are now at war with everyone else in the community who agrees that it doesn't fit in the game.
-
DbD is a love letter to classic horror icons, the only newer licenses we have gotten was Bill from LFD who canonically made sense for the game and is a part of a cult classic game from 2008 and Stranger Things which was also a love letter to classic slashers, FNAF's main audience is children, something DbD's devs and community is very against, regardless of your opinion on the subject a Springtrap chapter is something only FNAF fans would appreciate, and not something that your average horror fan is going to look at highly, people are gonna be disappointed by it's announcement (because let's be honest having FNAF in the game before Alien, IT, Jason ETC, is just a kick in the nuts.) and it most likely wouldn't sell well compared to other bigger horror licenses. Whether the game is even considered horror is up for debate but I won't get into that now, but it just doesn't fit the theme that DbD has always stood for, it's a game of appreciation for the originals. People saw Silent Hill and went nuts because they figured this meant that any video game could make it into DbD despite the fact that we've had Bill from LFD2 for the better part of 3 years, Silent Hill made sense and fit so well because it's one of the original horror games that kicked off horror in gaming so it made sense. I personally am not a fan of IT, I think the original movie is pretty good and hope to god that if it's added it is in it's original form, but even if it was added as the modern adaptation I wouldn't be mad because it MAKES SENSE, it's a franchise that got it's roots in a cult classic film that has a very strong following. This is the point where I stop because I'm tired of ranting, I've played the games I think they're interesting and the lore is engaging but it's not something meant for DbD in mine and many others opinion.
-
Sorry to be a downer, but I'm pretty positive these changes are going into live servers, when the Nurse changes were proposed the community exploded letting the devs know that the changes were too harsh, and nothing happened. With Billy not as many people are expressing their concerns, and even if they were, just like Nurse, nothing is likely gonna happen. At least it's not as bad as Nurse's changes, I think this will take some getting used to, but it won't cause 50% of billy mains to drop him completely like the Nurse nerf.
-
Alien, Jason, or Candyman, any big horror license is fine at this point as long as it's a license that makes sense, not just because everyone wants it. I personally am not a fan of the IT franchise, but I am aware that it got it's roots from the classic film and it makes sense in the context of the game so I wouldn't be all that mad if it got added. However, I get why people want FNAF in the game, it's a newer "horror" franchise, but it just doesn't make sense in the context of what we've gotten in the past. It's very clear that DbD is a love-letter to classic horror, and the only newer license that has been added (Stranger Things) IS ALSO a love letter to classic horror, FNAF just isn't that at all, it's a game that is rooted in cheap jump scares with a primary audience of kids, I've played the games I think the concept is interesting and the lore behind it is intriguing, but it just doesn't fit in DbD in my opinion. I don't know though anything can happen, and if in a years time Springtrap gets added then whatever, but I don't think it's appropriate to add something like FNAF before adding other horror icons that people have been asking for since day one. But I respect the fact that other people want it, and you can have your opinions and I can have mine, all I'm saying is... Alien please... <3

Huntress Lullaby does have an effect at 0 stacks. It adds an extra regression penalty from failed skill checks.
I know the way I worded it implied I didn't know that, and I honestly forgot to address the regression penalty in my post, sorry for the confusion.
-
Demo or Myers, they both capture the feel and terror that they bring upon the viewer in their respective media. They really need to make chase music for the other licensed killers if they can, I know it would take a lot of time and effort to reach out to all the license holders but I can guarantee everyone would go crazy.
-
I've been with this game since week 1 of release, I've lost my legacy, and I've lost all progress on my account twice when the progress loss bug was still around, I personally got really ticked off that BHVR gave all the previous event cosmetics out to everyone for free considering how much work was put into getting them, and while before that happened I would've said to just let the players who still have legacy keep it, now I really wouldn't. What they're doing isn't fair to the players that lost legacy and their logic regarding the situation is flawed. In their news post they say "To award Legacy to the rest of the community would severely alienate and undermine that part of the community that has been with us since 2016." I understand that they are saying that legacy is more valuable then the event cosmetics due to how grindy the bloodweb was before the rework, but since around 50% of the community that was around during that time suffered some kind of loss of progress, you would think they would just throw in the towel and give it to everybody at this point or at the very least award all players who have owned the game since 2016 a charm or something. I've always been very vocal about how much I love BHVR as a company but how they've handled the legacy problem over the years is a serious problem and with how long it has lasted they seriously need to just give up and either give it to everyone, or give it to players who have owned the game since "X" date. Sorry for the long rant, I love this game and the community around it but I needed to get that out of my system. I still love BHVR, they just really need to put an end to this problem before it gets out of control again.
-
Either Chains of Hate or Darkness Among Us, Chains of Hate had terrible perks and a promising killer who turned out to be really boring to play. Darkness Among Us brought one of the most problematic killers to the game, a ######### map, meh perks and blue-balled a tease towards a disguising killer.
-
I personally think they should've just kept leaving it up to the players imagination, obviously with the exception of licensed characters, defining an original characters sexuality heavily complicates the whole finding someone you relate to thing and decreases your options if your gay and or straight, this then brings up the problem of balancing the number of gay and straight characters in the game and just overall screws everyone over. I would like the inclusion of more flamboyant characters and personalities, but they shouldn't outright confirm a characters sexuality in order to keep the peace in the community.
-
I really hope they start introducing better meta changing perks, or start buffing the hell out of older ones because the game has had the same meta for years now, the hangman's trick bug really solidified their fear of introducing good perks in the game for me, I am aware that it wasn't intended but even with the overwhelming amount of people asking for it to go to live servers they still stuck their feet in the mud and wouldn't budge, the devs say they want this game to live as long as possible which I believe, but they're too scared to change up the meta at all that it's getting kinda boring.
-
I had the same problem today with a completely different build, so I would assume perks don't affect it.
-
Three in the past week, I play about 3 hours a day everyday.
-
You can tell a perk is a problem when in every match there is a constant threat of it being there, the shear possibility that a survivor is running DS changes the way most people play the game, as getting hit by it, if played correctly on the survivor side (which entails getting to a pallet), can result in massive time loss. A perfect example of this on the killer side was old Ruin, survivors would actively start games searching for totems because everyone assumed the killer was running ruin. In the context of this discussion DS is an active threat that changes the way a killer plays the game regardless of if a survivor has it or not. Pop is not the same, it is rewarded for good decisions and game-play and isn't a perk that you get extreme benefits from just by equipping it, DS and Old Ruin have/had this problem. Pop is something you adapt to after seeing that the killer has the perk, and doesn't scare you into playing a different way the second the game starts. You could be saying that "The possibility of the killer having Pop could change whether I commit to a gen or leave it, therefore it is a threat!" Here's the problem with that argument, that can be applied to most perks in the game, Unbreakable, Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, Sprint Burst, STBFL, PWYF, Enduring, hell even Brutal Strength changes the way you play the game. Perks will always affect game play after seeing that someone has them, but a perk thats threat is so strong that it changes the way everyone plays just because of the possibility that someone has it is unhealthy for the game and an easy identifier of a problematic perk, I do not promote tunneling in any way but DS is not okay in it's current state in the eyes of many. Ruin had this same problem and was thankfully changed in order to help the health of the game and the flow of game-play. Thanks for coming to my Ted-Talk.
Sorry this was so long, I would appreciate feedback on holes in my argument or things I missed and not just "DS is balanced because killer OP"
TL;DR: The active threat of DS is unhealthy for the game like old Ruin, and needs to be changed. Pop is rewarded by good game-play and should not be compared to Decisive.

if possible just make it so the last hatchet is instant down... if they wanna use the extra hatchet addon that’s fine it just means their first 1-2 hatchets are normal.
OH that be soo cool, just make it so only the last hatchet in your belt is instadown. I really like that.
-
@Peanits said:
One add-on is not a cause to rework an entire character. But that aside, what do you have in mind for an alternative?
I honestly think Iri head is cool when you have one hatchet, it's strategic and fun. I think the easiest change would just be to lock the number of hatchets to one when using it so that other add-ons don't change it. But I know that would be kinda weird since no other add-on in the game really does that.
-
I agree with everything everyone else has said, but what about LFD1/2? choosing one from that series would be really difficult since their are so many great characters, I personally would choose Coach to get a LFD2 rep. But that's just me, curious what other people would think, I know Nick is another fan favorite that would work too.
-
Once they announced legendary skins, having all the other LFD survivors immediately got me excited, and I really hope they do it. I would die happy if I could play as coach.
-
Please keep running self-care, it's such a great perk and it totally doesn't waste time and make killing you easier or anything....
Nothing makes my day more then seeing a Blendette healing in the corner of the map with self-care. Brings a tear to my eye
-
- I honestly don't know, but if so only slightly
- Yes from 115 to 110 or 4.6 to 4.4
- I personally don't find the effect distracting at all so that's up to personal opinion

Thanks so much, I didn't realize it was on their customer support page which makes total sense now that I say it.

Most likely, they have confirmed that it's a bug and they're aware of it, I doubt they will turn it into a feature.

I would be INCREDIBLY disappointed, the shear AUDACITY that they would have to add in a shirtless skin before myers is just insulting.

Thanks for the feedback, I do think he would need a buff but only a small one. I just don't want a Nerf for him because Noob3 destroyed survivors who didn't know how to play against him. And what do you think of the attack going through walls and pallets? To Op or perfectly balanced?
I think being able to attack through walls and pallets is completely fine, if he couldn't he would need a lot more mobility while dragging his sword then he currently has, the mobility restrictions are what makes attacking through stuff fair, if he didn't have them then it would be like a demogorgon shred that could go through walls.
-
I honestly think he is very balanced, his cages are detrimental most of the time because they spawn as far away from the killer as possible making for quick 10 second saves, his power is easier to dodge then demo's and leaves you with a beefy slow down if you miss, and you can't strafe while dragging your massive ass sword on the ground. If anything he needs a buff.
-
The shear AUDACITY that the devs had to add pYrAmiD hEad instead of this CLASSIC horror great is unacceptable, I will be requesting a refund and uninstalling the game promptly.
-
Honestly if they didn't say anything and released him it would have been fine. It was the wording they used that ruined it, they never should've said it was a classic license that shaped the world of horror since its inception. Silent Hill is great, don't get me wrong, but it's a game that released in 99, saying it's a classic is very arguable, and regardless of whether it is or not, your opening it up to a pool of horror greats, ACTUAL classics, like alien, it, pinhead, jason. That's what ruined it for me, not the fact that it's in the game, it's the fact that they gave the possibility of it being a horror icon, and it wasn't.
-
Unfortunately it's quite the opposite, while on paper his power seems incredible, in practice it kinda sucks. While dragging his blade on the ground you are slowed, you can't strafe, you can't flick with his attack, and it is INCREDIBLY easy to dodge, a lot easier then dodging demogorgons shred and that is easy already. When missing one of these attacks you are slowed down heavily and you lose a lot of distance. He feels very clunky to play as and when putting a survivor in a cage they spawn directly opposite of you on the map making it pointless most of the time. His only strengths are avoiding DS if the survivor is tormented. Please keep in mind this is subject to change, and will probably get better after having more experience using the killer.
-
I would prefer someone else for this specific chapter since it's been hyped so much, but I would still love him in the game
-
After adding it up in a calculator, including the game, all the DLC, and all the cosmetic and rift passes I've bought probably close to $250
-
Who would've thunk that the realms with more maps in them would be played more.....
-
Alien has always been my most requested and most wanted addition to this game since Myers was added as the first license, unfortunately alien's rights are now under the control of the mouse, I really hope it is alien, but I do have a hunch that it isn't. I also hope it isn't candyman, not because I don't want him in the game, because I do, but it would be the most unsurprising reveal in this games history with the exception of ghost face.
-
-
Honestly SWF dont bother me too much but what does bother me is when people are just doing nothing but generators, they delay saves, don't go for crazy flashlights, because while yes they are doing their objective efficiently it just leads to a hopeless 4 minute game. These games where everyone is glued to gens are some what rare, but I do get them every other day in red ranks and it can get pretty annoying.
-
Alien, oh wait that wasn't an option......
Jason
