Welcome to feedback and suggestions where posts go to die!
Yeah seriously, they merged mine and two other peoples posts about the HUD to get it more concise and easier to read in one place, but they are just hindering themselves by making it so no one is gonna reply to the post anymore.

I'm all for modernizing the game and making sure it lasts for longer but the new HUD is just bad. I like the additions of hook states and the survivor portrait doesn't anger me too much, but why is it spread all over the screen?! Previously I could glance down at the bottom left of my screen and get all the information I needed, who's injured, who's downed, who's hooked, how many generators are left, and the status of my power. But with this new HUD I have to look at every corner possible to get the same information.
Let's say I'm playing Bubba, I am in a chase and I have one person slugged on the floor a couple meters away, I'm using my chainsaw so I am paying attention to the state of my power but I am waiting to see when the other guy gets picked up, previously I wouldn't have to move my eyes and just look down to see oh he's been picked up, all without being un-invested in the chase. But now with this new HUD I glance up all the way to the top of my screen and bump into a part of the loop I didn't see causing me to go into tantrum. I know that's a little bit of an extreme scenario, but in a game that requires so much time management and focus, having all the information you needed in one small area in the bottom left of your screen was so convenient. I just don't see the need of spreading it out, and if it's for the convenience of hook states just forget it then, it's not worth it.
I'm sure everyone loves the addition of hook state info, not only will it remind the survivors to hide in a corner when they're dead on hook, but it will also remind the killers who to tunnel next. Sure it's convenient for both sides but do we REALLY need it? I don't think remembering how many times you hooked a guy is rocket science, and if you do forget then just hook him and you'll find out! I get what they're trying to do but PLEASE if you need to add this just provide a toggle between the new and old HUDS, you don't even have to update the current one with all the hook state stuff, plenty of players will agree that the convenience of the old HUD far outweighs the addition of hook states and player portraits. The spread across the screen is just plain unnecessary. And talk about ironic as well, in your dev update you mention that the HUD was designed with streamers in mind so need not worry! But alas our poor streamer friends will come to the realization that now three quarters of the ######### screen is taken up!
TL;DR: All I'm trying to say is that the addition of the new hook state info and portraits doesn't warrant scattering everything across the screen, you lose the current convenience of glancing down and getting all the info you need and the HUD turns into a scavenger hunt.
If you haven't seen the new HUD here is a comparison of old/new.

I would be super excited for one but it would have to be done right, Kubrick adaptation, no reference to the sequel, and an interesting power that makes sense and fits his character. He would be on the shorter side, probably around legion height because he's hunched over. Obviously he would have the axe, and he would be around 110%, preferably even slower if the devs were comfortable with it, and then a strong power to compensate. What that would be I have no idea, so many people throw around the breaking pallets and walls faster thing but I honestly think that takes away from the very slow and suspenseful nature of the end of the film. Would love to have him, it's just a license that they would have to handle very carefully.

There are definitely some mean demo players out there, as there are with every killer or survivor. As to why your seeing a majority of demo players play nice I don't know. I play nice just because I have no reason not to, I stopped getting mad at this game years ago and demo became my favorite killer overnight when he came out, I sucked initially and would sometimes have to resort to some scummy plays to try and get more kills, but I got a lot better with him and I haven't had a reason to play "toxic" for a while. I think the main reason people do it is because they want to win, and they aren't at the level of experience to do that consistently yet, so they resort to other strategies to get more kills and make themselves feel better. In reality people can play the game however they want, if a bubba decides to facecamp and lose the game just to kill me, then so be it.
I just think most experienced demo players and experienced "low" tier killers in general have more tolerance for difficult games because of how used to it they are. Playing a "stronger" killer slows the learning experience because you will run into less tough situations, and therefore learn how to play around them slower. I just think lower tier killers tend to be nicer in higher ranks because if they've gotten to the point where they can comfortably play a weaker killer in red ranks they are usually much more experienced at the game then someone who is playing spirit in red ranks. Of course this has some exceptions and no one should be exempt from playing stronger killers, I love Blight, Oni, and Huntress, but I can't help but think most of my experience in the game has come from playing weaker killers like Demo, Myers, or Wraith.
Sorry this turned into a bit of a rant.
-
It's a very outdated gimmick that didn't age very well, it was cool at first but there is no skill involved and is very prone to people killing themselves on accident. My friend has a keyboard that doesn't register the space bar super well if he spams it, and he dies a lot on struggle stage unintentionally. I think they should probably replace it with a quick-time minigame or something that has a bit more forgiveness to it.

That’s a rift challenge. It’ll still spawn once picked.
I didn't think about that, that makes sense.
-
I don't really dislike one survivor, but the one I see being the worst consistently is Claudette, they're either sitting in the corner of the map or incredibly over confident. Both of which get their team killed pretty fast.
-
That's a really interesting idea that seems very obvious, but clearly not many people have thought about it. I think that would honestly be one of the better options out there, changing the spawning rule itself would eliminate a lot of frustration of survivors escaping super early and would also make it a lot simpler for new players to understand instead of the current rules. The question is whether the devs have thought about this or if they're overthinking things.
-
Yeah on top of all the key gamers the devs need to stop adding hatch challenges until keys get balanced, I'm pretty confident that the change will be pretty good, it's clear they haven't changed keys along side mori's due to how much work is required to rework them instead of just a number change. If I were to guess I think they'll add an animation to opening hatch so it's not instant, and the hatch will probably stay open for a shorter time or only let one person through. While this doesn't completely fix the issue, I can't see them doing anything more then that because the whole point of keys and mori's are to make games that you might not have won winnable. A healing or generator repair requirement to activate it wouldn't really make sense on an item. I think they'll probably also make it so the better the key you have the faster the hatch opens, green will still probably suck as not to create an influx of usable keys, but I think it would be really cool to make it so that the purple key takes twice as long to open hatch as the pink one, and maybe the amount of time the hatch is open will change depending on the key and they'll change some of the add-ons so that you can make hatch stay open longer.
This turned from a response to me spewing ideas but either way I don't think the key change will be that bad, it will at least be better then what we currently have.
-
Definitely Demo but only when you get good with him, he is one of the hardest killers to get consistent results from but once you understand the ins and outs he can compete with a lot of the stronger killers in the game. I consider myself pretty decent at killers like Huntress or Freddy but I honestly get very similar results out of Demo just because of how much time I've put into him. Demo is kind of like Nurse but with less payoff, it takes a lot of time to get to a point where you can win consistently win with them but the difference between an average Nurse/Demo and a good one is night and day.
-
The new maps are much darker and have more grass that is denser, this also makes it harder to track scratch marks as killer, if anything they favor stealth.
-
I didn't think it was possible for a concept to anger me more then the idea of adding FNAF to this game, but here we are.
-
Nurse or Billy. I've always sucked at Billy and I don't play nurse anymore because of how buggy she's become since her rework.
-
I think survivors still have a decent amount going for them, the game is by no means heavily survivor sided but most of the killers in the game simply can't handle tourney squads, it's less a survivor balancing issue then it is a general balancing issue, survivors either need to be taken down to the level where most killers can have a chance at them or killers need to be buffed accordingly to match the survivors. The latter being what we've been seeing recently. The game is easily the most "balanced" it's ever been and what most people complain about today doesn't touch the problems that the game had 4 years ago. Playing Trapper in 2016 where there were windows every 10 feet and 3 infinites in every map was hell on earth, even though today's problems don't touch the old ones people obviously should still critique the game to keep it improving.
I think the complaining comes mainly from a fundamental misunderstanding of the game itself, Dead by Daylight takes A LOT of time to truly understand it's balancing issues, and a lot of them you won't see until your at the highest level of play. While to newer players it may look like Clown is overpowered, they simply don't understand how to face him yet, and while that's a pretty extreme example, it can be applied to most situations of survivors or killers just not knowing the tools that are at their disposal. I think most of the complaints that leave us scratching our heads are coming from players that the game has brought in over the past couple years, they haven't gotten to play at the higher ranks consistently enough to gain an understanding of the games issues. Having experienced the hell-scape that was this games prior form doesn't help our understanding of complaints either, and we'll say the game is so easy now, compared to before yes, but easy in general this game is far from. Killer can be incredibly frustrating to newer players, rightfully so, especially when you eventually get into red ranks. And the complexities of looping and understanding each killers power and how to work around it as survivor can be incredibly overwhelming along with perks, items, add-ons, etc. Both sides take hundreds of hours to gain a fundamental understanding of, and that's the source of the misunderstanding.
We as veterans view things as so easy now, while newer players are getting thrown into a pool of 20+ killers and hundreds of perks, something that we were introduced to over time, and have become accustomed to. People will complain whether they are uninformed or simply have a different opinion, but in the end everyone is trying to better the game, so while it may be annoying seeing a 2 post gamer come onto the forums and rant about how Demogorgon is overpowered, we just need to suck it up, inform the individual and move on, because the games community is growing fast, and newer players will always be wrong. ;) - Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
-
They re-enabled it on the eighth and is currently enabled.

I honestly feel like confirming that a character identifies in "x" way goes completely against what the devs have said about wanting to make characters that people can relate to, obviously if it's a licensed figure then that's a different story, but defining that a character is straight or gay then makes them less relatable to a lot of people, the ambiguity of not knowing what a character defines themselves as or what their sexuality is lets people use their imagination, most players aren't going to see a survivor and choose them because in the lore they're "x", they'll choose them because they like the way they look, or the cosmetics they wear. I'm all for a character that has "girl" clothing on a guy or vice versa but confirming their sexuality accomplishes nothing, it just makes it harder for people to relate to the character. I think representation is very important, but the media needs to wake up and realize that rubbing it in peoples faces is what creates the hate for the community in the first place.
-
Definitely real but I think a lot less common these days. I use to see them rarely a couple years ago, but I've only run into 2 in the past year I could just be getting lucky, but I've seen much less then previous years.
-
I haven't seen a lot of people talk about this so it might just be me, but I've played like 10-15 matches with demo and his chase music is played as if I'm on the survivor side, but it's glitched and loops one part of the music it's getting pretty annoying.

Like most people have said removing the basic attack requirement could make it good enough to be a meta option. It's so fresh that the meta has changed multiple times recently, it used to be nothing but ruin for years but then there was pop corrupt and now new ruin undying, I love the variety for once.
-
I did because I've bought every dlc for this game on day 1 of their release. But I wouldn't recommend it, get it with shards if you want it, this chapter is a dumpster fire.

Yeah I'm not expecting them to, but maybe if it gets some attention and enough people are aware of it they won't release a chapter as botched as this again.

Considering I play mainly killer I'm going to explain the reason I play little survivor instead.
Reasons I don't play a lot of survivor.
- Lack of objectives
- Boring M1 Gameplay
- Relying on bad teammates
- I don't have friends to play with
Reasons I play killer.
- I'm a horror nut and like playing as different icons.
- The fun part of survivor (being in chase) you are constantly doing as killer.
- I control the outcome of the game and don't have to rely on teammates.
- I enjoy the large variety of killer powers and learning each killer is a new challenge that is fun to tackle.
- Killers have a much higher skill ceiling due to their unique powers that can be used during a chase.
Note* I know killer is incredibly frustrating for a while at first before getting to a point where you can comfortably play in red ranks without losing your mind. If your serious and want to get into playing killer the best thing I can recommend is to keep your head up because all of the losses early on are learning experiences that will help you in the long run.
-
Definitely mother's dwelling, Ormand and Haddonfield are a challenge sure, but no map gives me such intense hold W gameplay.
-
Depends on the situation, if I'm fighting an uphill battle on a tough map I will get someone out of the game as fast as possible if I need too, but generally I avoid it, unless I'm in a tough spot.
-
Nurse, Old Freddy, Hillbilly before his animations broke, Switch role button, Being able to switch between killers while queueing, PTB Hangman's Trick, Exclusivity of my earned event cosmetics, my account progress that I lost twice when the progress loss bug was a big deal back in year 1, and my Legacy. That's everything I can think of off the top of my head
-
Because it's overall luck based and isn't worth cleansing. Survivors are better off splitting up on gens and pressuring the killer that way then cleansing before doing anything, in the worst case scenario which isn't that uncommon, cleansing every totem takes around 2-3 gens worth of time, it just generally isn't worth it and it makes them partake in more of the invigorating hold M1 gameplay. I generally try to stick to pop, corrupt, but since they nerfed pop right as an insanely better combo came out it's getting harder and harder to justify running it.
-
All I want is a demogorgon add-on rework, but I'm too scared to ask because every rework they do guts the killers base kit.
-
Demi main here, most of the teams that I go up against that I struggle with aren't actually the ones that are really good in chase, sure it can cost you some time if they successfully bait a lunge from you but once you put a lot of time into demi that rarely happens. The teams that kill me are just the ones that do nothing but gens, if they're injured they will stay on a gen, or give their life for a gen, because what they're doing is taking advantage of in my opinion demi's greatest weakness, HE'S A LOUD BOI. Demi's constant screeching and teleportation sounds let survivors know when you are or are not in a chase, giving them a much better idea of when your occupied or not, it's basically diet OoO. Sticking to gens will slaughter all killers, but including the security of knowing that the killer is occupied since he's screeching across the map really sucks. In terms of chase you can try to bait lunges by faking window vaults or pallet drops, but if your facing more experienced demogorgons, most won't fall for it because of how often we see it.
-
I honestly have no idea what is was like, I started on day 4 of launch, and I know I played trapper first. I was probably terrible, but that's all I can remember.

Definitely Alien with Ellen Ripley as survivor. Jones comes as an AI based perk with her!(cat creates scratchmarks around you while in chase for example; can’t interact with killer or survivor directly)! Amanda Ripley as a Legendary skin. New item Smokebomb kinda inspired by Alien: Isolation (see my item concept in ‚Share your work‘ section)
Second would be ‚I Know What You Did Last Summer‘. Kinda want Helen Shivers just because I would love to see Sarah Michelle Gellar and Buffy wouldn’t make sense.
I've never seen someone suggest Jones to be added in the game, an AI based perk is a really interesting concept that I would love to see explored. Would be a little weird to have him randomly follow a Claudette or something, but I think it's worth it.

But, chase would be a stupid idea, most killers could follow the person around without starting a chase, (it requires some skill, but it is possible) so the best way to make this "paused will in chase" effective would be to make it TR or simpmy radius bound (like while within 25m of the killer) and this would make it abusable
But otherwise, yeah, you're right
This is a great point, and something I didn't think about, having the timer based around chase could be abused by moonwalking towards people, or abusing the chase system in other ways, however if it was based on a radius around the killer, that could also be abused in some ways, such as a survivor b-lining to the killer and staying near them for the rest of the game until the killer is forced to eat the stun, while they wouldn't be progressing the game at all, this would still be annoying. Again, if a base-kit ability like this was theoretically added to the game, it would have to be incredibly polished, and un-abusable, further proving how hard a concept like this is to add to the game.
-
@Acromio said:
What if og Ebony Mori was basekit?
That would be not so great...
The point I was trying to get to was to grant players a counter to being directly tunneled off hook without being able to abuse the perk, meaning that you would only get hit with decisive if you were intentionally b-lining for someone off hook, and then not slugging them. However, as a lot of people have pointed out, there are a lot of ways that this could be abused that I didn't think about, and I wouldn't want a base kit ability to be abuseable.
-
@Unifall said:
So what base kit power will the killer have?
@jerakal said:
I'd be okay with this, but killers also need some perks worked into their base kit then. What would be a fair exchange?
@Grum_P said:
I feel like killers should also get pop added to their base kit. Or maybe instead of that, normal kicking of gens regresses them an initial 5% and then applies normal regression.
I feel like the trial warmup idea that the devs confirmed would be added to the game soon™ would be a good compromise. That or something to do with mild generator slow-down would work.

Aww hell I don't know:
After being unhooked, part of the Hook snaps off creating a jagged shard item on the ground which can be picked up. While holding a jagged shard, the next time the Killer would damage you with a Basic Attack, they are instead stunned for 2s and you are hasted by 20% for 3s. This item will be consumed by the entity (held or not) after 20s.
Franklin's Demise will counter the Stun, Enduring will reduce the stun timer.
The Hook is disabled while the shard exists. (This would also prevent the odd scenario of hook trades, and instead require the Killer to move to another hook if they are not in the basement).
That's a really interesting idea! I love the idea of using a new physical item in game. Would this be base kit? Or a replacement for decisive?
-
Michaels is my favorite mainly due to the fact that it's literally just the Halloween theme, but in terms of music that the devs have made on there own, definitely demo's, while it's inspired by stranger things it's a completely unique piece, that fits the show perfectly.
-
I've played against Otzdarva once, Jaee once, and Yerv about four times now, idk why I keep getting matched with him, I guess we just play at the same time.
-
The idea was to gut decisive so that it is purely an anti-tunneling ability. Using it with unbreakable would still be entirely possible, but only if you were to chase them directly off hook. The unbreakable-decisive combo is a problem in of itself that I wasn't really considering when making this. Good point though.
-
@Clevite said:
Yeah but God loopers would take on this challenge stay in the TR and be a pain in the ass.
Throw in a flashlight and you could presumably eat a whole lot of killer's time!
That is definitely possible if you were to commit to someone shortly after they were unhooked, the thought process was to cut the timer in half to avoid pausing it unintentionally, and it would only pause while in a chase. It is still definitely abusable, and if this were theoretically added in the way I described hopefully they would be able to figure something out to avoid this problem.
-
@HollowsGrief said:
The perk should function like this and still be a perk. Good idea, though not original but I disagree with it being base kit, the only thing that should be "base kit" is there should always be an obsession in the trial no matter what perks are used. Also there should be a downside to being the obsession, idk what it could be but currently it is only a good thing to be the obsession (a lot of extra BPs.)
I know the idea wasn't original as a lot of people in the community have basically said this exactly or in a different way, I just haven't seen many people throw around the idea of an anti-tunneling feature being a base kit ability. I feel like making the changes I proposed and keeping it as a perk would be fine (I certainly wouldn't be opposed to it.) But some people might feel like they just straight gutted decisive with no benefit, which is fine when you have a higher understanding of the game and realize how problematic decisive currently is, but newer players might feel survivors are getting screwed over.
-
All I want is a way to cycle between previous backgrounds of old chapters and events, preferably costing shards so there's more to earn without spending money.
I just want my vulture boy back ;-;
-
I think myself and many others agree we would absolutely love to see him in the game. It's just very unlikely due to the license dispute happening at the moment. He's one of the few classic icons that we haven't gotten yet.
-
I personally don't think it's gonna be until dawn, mainly because it's exclusive to the PS4 and doesn't have a massive following, Sony is also infamous for how protective they are over their rights and would have to agree to put it on 3 other platforms, but on the other hand that didn't stop behavior from getting a deal with konami, so idk. I'm not saying I don't want it, I just think it's unlikely.

First off, i love dbd, been playing on pc and xbox for 4 and 2 years. I get annoyed sometimes like we all do ut recently it has been at an all time high.
MMR sounds good in theory like dedicated servers and a dc ban, but this game has far too many issues and is nowhere near balanced or competitive enough.
So my issue with mmr is that the unbalance of the game will result in a boring sweatfest at high level play. Nurse Spirit, Freddy, and other boring killers every match as they are the only ones able to consistently beat optimal groups, while fun killers are limited by their kits to low ranks. Not to mention single killer wait times can get absurd at high enough levels and survivors can still last second swap or do other scummy mechanics in lobby. It'll be boring for survivor to only see the same 4-5 killers every match using sweaty tactics, and boring for killer to only face SWAT teams if they want to play their favorite/main.
And the last week of dbd has been unbearable for me, Every game i get the worst teammates ive ever had, usually a few hours played, die instantly, crouch around doing nothing etc, while every killer has been rank one,thousands of hours, going full sweat and I barely see anyone but Spirit, Freddy, Ghostface(my least fav killer in the game by far) and the occasional Nurse. My teammates who are either new to dbd or just awful always go down every few seconds, refuse to do gens and usually dc forcing me to stay n a 3v1 against the 10th Ghostface on Hawkins or lery's in a row.
Meanwhile no matter what killer i pick, i get entire red rank sweat squads. They last second swap, have thousands of hours, get lucky with maps that are always my killers worst, or bring the same boring Coldwind/Ormond/Haddonfield offerings and do 5 minute gen rushes, bm at the gate, and play as optimal as possible.
I find it insane that i get nothing like this when i play survivor, my teams are practically bots that feed insanely strong or toxic killers free wins. Why is a P3 Nurse with 6k hours and 40k kills going against me and 3 default claudettes on their first ever match? and getting killer sided maps like Chapel or Azarovs.
While every Killer match for me is seemingly always a 4 man or potatoes? They either pick a bs map or get lucky, ormond, midwich etc and pound out 4 gens in 2 minutes and all have the small pp build. Or they are total noobs just playing with friends that I annihilate with minimal effort and feel bad about.
Not to mention the awful map list keeps growing, map rng still exists, keys/moris/map offerings/DS/NoED all still exist, and solo is a nightmare compared to swf easy mode. while killer is just all around frustrating, oh and plenty of unbalance between killer powers, and meta perks making 90% of others awful or obsolete. Messy servers. Oh and the bugs, like silent slugs, broken vaults, huntress throwing a truck sized hatchet. Dc ban is great too I love being forced to stay if im stuck on a tree, or my 3rd haddonfield of the night. Oh yay another Freddy using a VPN!
Sorry for the jumbled rant, I love DBD and the dev team, I respect their care and efforts and love the community(most of the time) but DBD is seemly trying to kill itself with all of these poorly thought out changes. If you are going to do this, at least give rank rewards ad add a casual quick match mode. Sweat fests and lopsided matches aren't fun or fair when it is every last game. I can't imagine how much this crap will hurt our favorite content creators being able to have fun or good content and enjoy the game.
Thanks to whoever reads this, and the devs for keeping the game going. But I'm just so frustrated and worried for the future <3
I have been very worried about this, and figured that since I hadn't heard anything about it that it was going well on Xbox, unfortunately this is what I was afraid of and is very concerning, thankfully if it did go live with what your describing there would be an immediate out-cry about it, and hopefully something would be done about it.

They couldn't add a new mori animation because the license holders won't allow BHVR.
They couldn't change the name from Oni to The Minotaur because believe me, the License holders wouldn't allow it.
All these are great additions, but sadly the License holders were either too lazy or wouldn't allow it.
The amount of people that didn't catch on to this and thought you were being serious is kinda sad.

Recently BHVR has been very good with taking reports seriously, they have zero tolerance for racism and most valid reports do result in bans, you are never notified however, which is why these may seem useless, either-or works, in game or on their support forums, but if you do see any serious racism such as this I would recommend creating a report.
