We're still hating on Spirit because the community is more focused on the 1v1 and not the 4v1. I'm sorry but if every killer was able to be mindlessly looped, their would be no killer's for y'all to play against.
Mad that a lot of Spirit's run Stridor (even though Stridor was literally made to counter IW) go curse out BHVR for making chase music louder, survivors regular breathing and footsteps inaudible.
And as I been saying, Spirit is a product of what's wrong with looping and flips the script on survivor's and obviously most of y'all don't like that so I believe that looping needs looked at.

It might just be me but I feel that Spirit is a pub stomper and weak killer against rank 1-2 survivor teams post-nerf but I could just be bad at her. I am not looking to argue whether she is good or not. I just want to see a rank 1 Spirit main that can consistently 3-4k.
Spirit is the second best killer in the game and the most hated killer in the! She can't be looped unless she allows, good map pressure and excellent chase pressure. You probably need more practice with her and understanding of her power.

That would kill the perk completely, you admitted ot spirit carrying you that's a problem in itself tha tf needs to be changed.
- That was an example
- At least Spirit forces survivor's to use the perk as intended to avoid taking a hit instead using it to gain distance
- Your right! I did admit to being to being a Spirit main, but just because I main her doesn't mean she's the only killer I play. If you re-read my comment your replying to you can see that I said "Ever since I stopped playing Spirit religiously and improved my gameplay with other killers and got better at mindgaming" So you can stop attacking me for being a Spirit main now

1. It lasts only 2 minutes each game at most, I'm sure a competent killer can ignore survivors 2 mins each in a trial without much effort.
2. Playing fair is not the intended counter to DS, there is nothing wrong with DS activating even if a killer "plays fair".
I honestly feel that your either talking out of your ass, or you just don't have enough killer expirence to understand how BS DS is

I hope you realise I'm not talking about the survivor experience only. Playing Spirit is just as boring as playing against her because there is absolutely no challenge or anything to learn with her. If you're happy with the way Spirit is you're happy with not really caring about what a survivor does, or being challenged in the one aspect of the game that's actually fun which is the interactions between killer and survivor. Hag and Deathslinger are the same. These three are so unbalanced in the 1v1 that it's so damn boring playing as them because you know you're going to win every chase no matter what the survivor does.
Spirit is challenging for me to use. Why! Because your sacrificing one of your senses to track a survivor (I don't play Spirit with Stridor) and with how broken sounds can be that's even a greater challenge!
If you're happy with the way Spirit is you're happy with not really caring about what a survivor does, or being challenged in the one aspect of the game that's actually fun which is the interactions between killer and survivor.
How is it fun having to use the same tactic that 90% of the killer roaster has to use to deal with looping? What's so challenging about using the same tactic that you've been doing for 1k+ hours just so that survivor's can have the same advantage in a loop? There you go focusing on the 1v1 mindset and not the 1v4
Your right! I don't care about what survivor's do. Why? Most survivor's know the things that annoy killer's but they insist on doing. Why? Because it's fun for 'THEM' and they don't consider killer's at all. This is why when I play survivor I don't run or do things that annoy the killer

I think you're completely missing what this post is about. They're not saying "man the killer keeps finding us really fast", they're saying "I'm spawning in and can immediately see the killer"
Again! That is the product of killer's knowing where survivors spawn! I have plenty of matches were me and survivors will spawn in at the same time and with 5-10 seconds I will either see movement or scratch marks.
Now if you spawn in and the killer has LOS on you, than the answer to that is that killer spawned in before the survivors

If there's no way to rework spirit without defeating the purpose of her, then rework her with the sole intention of defeating her initial purpose. I want spirit to be completely reworked, her design is horrifically boring and unbalanced, you're essentially playing a single player game. There's no challenge, it's just hold M2 and win every chase unless they have iron will, which in that case you also have to guess until you're near them and you hear their footsteps and grass moving. No interaction with the survivor whatsoever because you don't give a ######### about what they're doing. Where's the fun in that?
For starters you gotta get this 'boring' idealism out of your head because killers aren't responsible for your fun, when they are focusing and responsible for their own fun.
It's 1v4. The killer should feel unbalanced in a 1v1, and not hold your own weight in a 1v1. This is why I don't like talking about 1v1 because it proves that survivors will always have the advantage in a loop, but when a killer takes that advantage away everybody is "the killer is too powerful" because everyone looks at the 1v1 mindset and not the 4v1 mindset

@ALostPuppy said:
Or we could suggest a rework for spirit to be more engaging and fun to play as, and keep stridor the same so killers still have a useable perk because it's good on every killer if you use it? It's a win for everyone.
There's no way to nerf or rework Spirit without defeating the purpose of her! Giving some kind of indicator will defeat the purpose of her.
Not only that Spirit flips the script on survivor s and makes them feel the same way other killers do. Other killers have to mindgame and hope that the survivor makes a mistake, Spirit takes that information away survivors and makes survivors hope that what they did was the right call.
@Enlyne I hate to say this, there is nothing skilled based involved with survivor when your feeding of information to counter something

No! The perk needs to be changed because
1. The perk is active to long and can be easily abused
2. It can punish killers who play fairly and hook other survivors
-
Looping was never intended to be a thing. Imo I firmly believe that safe loops need to go. Loops should either be unsafe or mindgaming.
One thing I believe that will help make looping feel less annoying to killers and more skill based is if they got rid of the killers Red Stain. But of course survivors would riot about that because they 'need information' to counter a killer in a loop
-
@Pipefish said:
A second chance perk that literally triggers every forty seconds. Who thought this was a good idea. My suggestion is to have it give you the broken status like no mither. What you all think ?
Imo DH needs to be changed! Ever since I stopped playing Spirit religiously and improved my gameplay with other killers and got better at mindgaming, DH is a perk that tells killers "######### you for playing your cards right" and killers "HAVE TO CAPITALIZE ON SURVIVORS MISTAKES"
As a survivor I stopped using DH because it felt like a crutch that wasn't improving my looping gameplay!
I feel that DH needs to be changed to maybe a 1 time use perk or something
-
For the current state the game is in I think Spirit is fine and balanced! The reason why she is hated is because survivor's feel hopeless in a 1v1 against her which is the way it should be!
She is also hated because survivor's are use to having the advantage in a chase's and feeding off of information. If we are being honest Spirit flips the script on survivor's on makes them feel like how all other killer's feel (besides Sally).
Lastly I hate to say this, but there is no way to nerf Spirit without defeating the purpose of her. She is designed to trick survivor's and giving off any kind of information will defeat the purpose of Spirit

She generally gets 2k in red ranks against decent survivors.
Spirit with Stridor? use IRON WILL. You have a better chance of playing mind games while she's in phase.
The current state the game is in, Spirit is balanced! But Spirit is literally the product of the problem with looping! She takes all the information for herself and gives nothing back or in otherwards she flips the script on survivor and survivor's hate this because survivor's are use to having the 51% advantage in a loop, Spirit changes this to 50/50 and if the survivor leaves the loop it changes 30/70 in her favor (which I agree with because the killer should have the advantage in a 1v1).
This is one of the reasons why I main Spirit because she changes survivor's mindset from "Imma loop this killer into oblivion" to "We need to hurry up and get gens done as quickly as possible." I understand she's not fun to go against, but constantly dealing with looping and being able to do something about it is way more fun than not being able to do something about it

If you are getting 2 hooks within a min then a 5 seconds stun shouldn't be a problem
That's where your wrong because still getting hit with DS after hooking 2 other survivor's is literally punishing the killer for capitalizing survivor mistakes (which is how most killer's get their downs) and rewards survivor's for being dumb and practically resets the killer's potential.
What I mostly hate about DS is how it makes survivor's feel safe and imo survivor's should not be feeling safe at all

When playing killer against survivors that know the game, even if they are noobs at juking/looping, they succeed to do all gens in 5 minutes.
Played two times in a row against SWF high rank (they clearly knew the game), and i clearly couldn't do anything, even though i ended every chase in ~30 sec.
Gens finished in 5 minutes exactly (i recorded the game and checked), door opened instantly after.
Found the first survivor 10 seconds after spawning. Got 1 kill + 2 hooked.
Survivors didn't have any chase skill, they did some loops but nothing awesome, never lost my track.
There is a real problem with this.
Ah and, to mention it, i play surv in a great SWF, each of us goes out 90% of the time when we play together. We struggle against high skilled spirit and the hag, that's all.
Gen rushing isn't the problem anymore, it boils down to
- Lack of viability in killer's
- Maps
- Lack of objectives for survivor's

The current argument for DS being fine is that it isn't an anti-tunnelling perk, so it's okay if killers that weren't tunnelling get hit with it

Uhh cuz he just got off the hook and started doing a gen right in front of me but sure thing Nea I'll just let him get on with it...
That's one of the few problems with DS! I can literally hook 2 other survivor's, beat my meat and pack my bags, and still get hit by DS and even if I do play fair some survivor's will go out of their way to abuse DS and annoy the killer to use DS because eating one DS can cost the killer the whole game

3 downs in 60 seconds doesn't sound like one DS is gonna be much of a setback. In that case its working as an anti momentum perk (which is what the deva have described it as instead of an anti tunneling perk)
Oh buddy. You have no Idea how many chain of events eating 1 DS could cause! And that's the other problem, why deny the killer momentum when the killer is playing their cards right! That's like being rewarded for being ######### at the game

Before the box nerf, pyramid head exposed how desperately needed BT/DS really are. It doesn't matter if you play fairly when the majority of killers at red ranks don't.
And you can still just use pyramid head if you hate DS that much. Assuming you play well you can basically murder everyone in sight with no recourse.
I don't play PH but because 1 vs 19 other killer shows that something is justified doesn't mean it justified vs the other 19

Cant catch a survivor bloodlust them to death. Bamboozle and bloodlust are just as outdated as the survivor and killer perk meta
If your complaining about Bamboozled you might wanna check your skill with looping!
If the devs get rid of bloodlust I firmly believe that means that every loop is unsafe to the point to where all killers have to do is lunge through/around a corner!
-
Either Huntress or Spirit!
Huntress is the only killer left that doesn't meet the addon requirements, but we all know that BHVR's idea of a addon rework is butchering that killer's addons and base kit
Spirit because survivor's want her nerfed because they can't seem to understand that their is no way to nerf Spirit without defeating the purpose of her, and survivor's want to mindlessly loop killer's instead of using different tactics to loop the killer
-
Looping is boring and brain dead af to me.
As a survivor there is no skill what so ever involved with looping simply because your feeding off of information and that's not skill imo
As a killer, dealing with looping is like a steak the slowly loses seasoning with each bite! Get looped by 1 survivor, down and hook them and it's on to the next survivor so they can do the same thing so that the next survivor can do the same thing!
-
@Tru3Lemon said:
maybe dont tunnel?
Ahh yes, the classic 'don't tunnel'! Because after hooking 1 or 2 different survivors and still getting hit with DS is tunneling. It's considered tunneling when a survivor with an active DS goes out of their way to harass the killer to use DS.
But it's the killers fault for playing fairly and still getting hit with DS though.

@Retromind said:
The title. As a player who plays 70% survivor and 30% killer, it's really annoying when an entitled survivor kills himself on hook the moment he gets outplayed by the killer in first 40 seconds. This is basically a death sentence for a survivor team and an easy game for the killer. Obviously the ranking doesn't matter because it doesn't have any inherent value and it is not hard to get back to a higher rank because the game rewards even the mediocre players for their poor performance. I am really not sure what devs could do to prevent this because at the moment, every second game has this one guy who just straight up kills himself and the game quality suffers dramatically from that.
The punishment for survivors killing themselves on hook is that they get the points they got and they depip! I understand what your getting at but entitlement will always exist in this game, even if there was a harsher punishment for survivors killing themselves on hook they'll find away around that punishment!
The only thing I don't like about the DC penalty is that survivors can kill themselves on hook to get out of the match, but killers have to endure the bullshit because theirs no way for them to dodge the penalty
-
Spirit is hated because
- She can't be mindlessly looped
- Lack of information
- She's a gamble
I enjoy Spirit from both perspectives. As a survivor I enjoy not having to depend on looping her because it makes me use different tactics. As a killer I enjoy her because she flips the script on survivor's and makes them feel like they can't do anything (which is how it feels to play M1 killers), plus I don't have to use the same tactic to deal with looping when I play her!

@solidhex said:
(sry for clickbait title)
Chases are the problem. it's way to easy to chain together different loops and tiles with pallets on some maps, everyone with some hundred hours of experience can do this. Nearly everyone is running SB, DH or Lithe which adds to it. If the rest of the team is prioritizing gens it's very hard to get into the match as killer. That's why killers with chase and anti-loop powers like Spirit, Deathslinger and PH are so popular and hated by survivors (see all those threads). The missing map pressure (because of slow walking speed) is not that huge of a drawback compared to the faster downing speed.
Of course you should drop chases early but if all survivors are aware and able to run to the nearest loop, it's hard to stop those gens. Add second chance and exhaustion perks to the equation and you have it.
Increasing gen times only makes playing survivor more M1-holding and skillchecking. I don't think that's a good solution.
Strongly agree, and you nailed each point on the head!
I will disagree about map pressure though, because of certain maps, and literally having to drop a chase because the survivor is a god tier looper, or your out positioned!
-
@Pryzm said:
First of all, I don't mean anything here to be disrespectful, so pleas please understand that. I main Trapper, who is one of the slowest killers to get going. He has to spend the early game setting up the map. You don't want to commit to long chases too early or you are done. I understand how fast those first few gens can go.
That said, "gen rush" claims annoy the hell out of me. What are survivors supposed to do? Hide in a locker for the first 45 seconds, the run from th locker to killer shack and back before starting a gen? They have only one objective that counts, do the gens asap. The longer a match goes, the more their chances of survival fade.
Getting upset at survivors hitting gens is as absurd as survivors getting upset at a killer for getting a hook within the first minute. We have one objective, kill the survivors.
My thoughts are that you either ran into a group who completely outclassed your skill level;happens to everyone. You perhaps made too many mistakes early? Did you commit to a long chase early in the game that cost you more time than it was worth? Be willing to break off a chase if it looks like it will take too long. Wound and move on.
Dud you tunnel or spend too much time proxy camping? A lot of killers rank up vs bad survivors in green and purple ranks only to learn that lazy strategy does not cut it so well at the higher ranks. They either whine, or learn to adjust their skills and grow.
Not enough data to know what it was. I'd suggest taking a step back and try to asses any errors you are making and correct them. That is how you get better.
Good luck.
Outside of their builds that's the problem! Survivor's don't have enough objective's compared to what killer's have to do to get the ball rolling! Killer's have to predict and hope that their prediction is right, chase and down a survivor, than hook them. By the time the killer get's their first hook, 2-3 gens can pop and if the survivor has second chance perks, than that extends chase time and gives the other survivor's more time on gens. If the survivor is a top 1% player and the killer had to drop the chase, guess what? It's back to square 1, and not only that only 3 killer's have the map pressure for that, but survivor's want them nerfed or call them boring.
While I agree what your saying, the problem is that survivor's don't have enough objectives, and killer's can't be at 4 places at once

It's 4v1, the killer should have the advantage and be more powerful in a 1v1. Survivors should be on par or stronger than the killer in a 4v1.
This is one of the reasons why I justify Spirit as balanced! She will always have the advantage in a 1v1, but when it's 4v1 she has to weigh her options or come up with a tactic

Why should a perk that i run deactivate because of poor plays by my teammates? That’s poor design.
Also what is DS abuse? Just using the perk lol?
Let me start off with saying that I am bias to my playstyle!
I consider it DS abuse if you go out of your way to either force the perk, or do something very stupid and punish the killer for capitalizing on your stupidity!
Why should it deactivate?
Suggest 1
It should deactivate because your putting yourself back into the game If you can interact with anything or get fully healed, than the killer isn't pressuring you for the perk to stay active that long.
Suggestion 2
The killer played their cards right and made the right read, or capitalized on a survivors mistake, why punish the killer for playing their cards right? That's like saying the right answer and getting it wrong for saying it's right!
-
This is something I've been trying to bring into light! I honestly feel that DS needs to have a risk added to it if it's going to be active for 60s and can be abused! I would suggest 1 of 2 changes!
Outside of Chase
- Interacting with anything deactivates the perk (excluding healing teammates)
- Being Healed to the healthy state deactivates DS
If you get healed to the healthy state, your not being tunneled and your obviously throwing yourself back into the game with being healed and interacting with things! This can also make survivor's make risky choices instead making reckless choices for being invulnerable!
Inside of Chase
- Locker will deactivate the perk
Only reason why I say this is because survivor's jumping in a locker is denying killer's counterplay for such a strong perk
Suggest 2 of 2
- After being unhooked DS activates for 60s, anytime another survivor is hooked during the duration the perk is active, the perk will deactivate!
This is simple to stop survivor's from abusing the perk

Isn't this the video where Peanits also said you made mistakes, I vague recall the situation not being handled correctly and you're blaming the survivors for having DS rather than your mistake.
You went for the Jane, who was unhooked recently instead of....
I remember this situation vaguely, but this wasn't their fault, it was your poor planning.
I really don't talk to the devs here on the forums simply because I never have anything nice to say to them (besides Not_Queen), and I don't have anything about @Peanits addressing that to me so I tagged him to see what he has to say about it!
The problem that I'm trying to point is that DS has NO RISK OR DOWNSIDE to it, and all it does is just give survivor's a get out of jail free card! when I hooked Feng (She was hooked before Yui, and what lead to me winning the chase was getting yeeted out of a locker failing to locker juke me) Jane was already healed and on gen (BBQ), what lead to Yui getting hooked was mindgames at 2 different loops!
Why should Jane have been rewarded with DS and a unhook! What your practically telling me is that even though I played my cards right in my chases and played fairly I should have left Jane tf alone and let her get the 2 unhooks and let Yui and Feng do gens! Where is the risk in DS? Why is it ok for survivor's to punish and annoy killer's with DS for playing fairly or just simply minding they own damn business?
I like the idea of DS, I just hate that it's literally a pitiful excuse of a perk to do whatever tf you want with no risk involved!

Though I'm pretty sure you've already seen this video!
As you can see I already have 2 other survivor's hooked, and Jane was unhooked 2 chases and hooks ago but I got punished for capitalizing on Feng's and Yui's mistakes in their chases, and me avoiding Yui is proof enough that I had no intentions on not tunneling. I feel the exact way about the game! Though I am a killer main because killer is more interesting and more interactive, killer is just way too damn stressful, and when I play survivor I'm just bored of looping and holding M1
