That could be interesting. What ideas do you have right now regarding this idea?
The Wild West Outfits for Glenvale are the first thing to come to mind. Vintagte hospital outfits for Lery's and Crotus (was that the name?), traditional russian outfits for the red forest etc.

He was probably one of the most balanced killers in the game, before they even nerfed him. He had incredibly potential for facecamping though, which was fixed and accepted by the community with the last patch that made the overheat mechanic 10x better from the ptb version, and now they have literally just reverted the changes again.
And for those saying "the heat mechanic wasn't even noticable", you are right, it wasn't until you facecamp someone, but why did that matter when the whole mechanic was questionable as billy was fine before it was implemented? He was according to the devs "fine" before, so why do the keep making these changes? There are literally so many other killers they could rework and balance, so i cant get my head around why they choose to nerf killers that don't even need balancing in the first place.
I think the crux with Billy is that the devs try to make him different from bubba, whom he is a proxy/expy off.
One way would have been to give billy a leatherface skin and not make them two separate killers, but here we are.
Would the community actually mind if those two would play neigh identical, mechanics and all?

Spirit. On paper she's okay, but her powers, especially with certain perks negate most potential counters.
-
The clown has the same issue as the doctor: the range of their area-attack. If you run spine chill you'll be in their range before it comes on, usually going down fairly quickly (I hate playing the doc for example, but even I can get my 3-4 gen left 4k against red ranks in with him... so, yeah, something can't be right there).

All the devs had to do was remove people being able to see Ranks when they updated to the new MMR and nobody would be complaining. Fewer people would be complaining about being with Rank 20 Survivors and instead would just see them as another trash Survivor.
Problem solved really.
No, not problem solved. What sinister said and what I was aiming for too:
The matchmaking's ought to take experience into account, which 'just removing the ranks' won't do. Removing ranks' visibility would honestly be counter productive, as it wouldn't actually change the frustration drawn from the matchups. removing visibility wouldn't improve anything.

True, but at least companies like Blizzard actively talk to their community.
Also I don't know what the second question means. Sorry, dude.
companies like blizz or ea 'talk' to their players to pretend they care.
All the while, e.g. EA pulled the following stunt earlier this year:
They released a preparation patch for a new addon for the sims4. that patch broke the game, making it, especially on entire career, not playable. not just hardly playable. unplayable. if you had that career, you might as well not play at all cause of how much it broke the game. Modders where quick to pin down the problem and provide a mod to fix it. instead of owing up to their mistake ea went, deleted the links to the mod, banned the modders and it took them 3 months to apply a hotfix that was inferior to what the modders had done.
As for bhvr:
look at any given tweet etc, even retweets from fans, how you'll have this onslaught of people very much harassing and insulting the devs. I'd not be surprised if working on dbd beyond the bare bones doesn't spark any joy anymore.
it's prolly not even any maliciousness on the devs end. just massive exhaustion. (funfact, this is an actual psychological thing, so...)

I completely agree, it is hindering alot of positive change for the game because of their stupidity and egoism.
thank you for illustrating my point, mate.
-
Wasn't talking bout you in specific, but if the shoe fits...
But just look around the forum:
How many threads are there that boil down to someone demanding a change to something because it 'gets in the way' of their routine? like people who insist that Spirit or Deathslinger have objectively NO counterplay at all and demand them to be nerfed to the ground. just cause the people in question don't want to play different against them than against e.g. trapper. (though, spirit's counterplay is a pain in the neck and does need an overhaul, as her powers as such are too easily exploitable rendering the existing countermeasure void).
And that's the issue. the loudest voices appear to be people who demand an iWin button, painting their nonsense as if they're speaking for everyone and objectively.
The same people who will unquestioningly parrot whatever the big name streamers are saying, without looking into things themselves.
Best example are ptbs:
The general approach seems to often be
'I didn't play ptb but this streamer said x' or 'i played ptb but didn't give any feedback, how dare the devs not read my mind'
like ######### people
-
It'd be honestly great, but the same people now being on the devs' backside because of bugs etc will be as obnoxious if they don't get their new chapters, raving and ranting till they drown out everyone else, making proper issue location impossible (saw it in other communities)
so, it's a lose:lose situation, as these brats will do everything to tear things down
-
I had someone recently who did that to try and trick me into camping. didn't work, because it required that I'd know what i'm doing.
-
Odd thing I observed with ranged attacks (on Deathslinger and plague, can't speak for huntress) is that the hit detection on the yamaoka maps is miles off. hits that land smack in the middle are registered as misses, but oddly mostly on those maps. (all pings below 70)

I think but also I kinda don't know what you mean.
when going through the bloodweb, you'll have various perks, obviously. And some are standard (plunder instict, small game etc) popping up for everyone.
By observation I found that the chances to have such a perk pop up (maybe alongside a new one) is very likely, and sometimes it can hinder a new one popping up.
-
Are you getting the other perks you might not have on full yet? The Entity has a rotten sense of humor and will likely throw that stuff in first.

That's actually really cool, i like this way of thinking, it's not the same but when i go against an obviously new killer i will give them a kill instead of getting a 4 escape, after all escaping isn't my ultimate goal, my goal is to have fun in the match die or not, it's kinda cute when they try and refuse to hook me throwing me out the exit gate but i'll signal no and crawl back in, sometimes it's a killer just doing a daily and not new but the sentiment is the same
I have gotten so many positive comments from new and old players after such matches, best ones are always
'Thank you! you're/that was scary'
-
Challenge yourself:
If you noticed you are playing against new players, don't focus on 'winning' focus on showing them the ropes and have them learn by doing.

all three.
might as well just bring a flashlight

Whatever you do, don't complain about getting tunnelled and morid afterwards

Yeah, it could go both ways. I originally interpreted it like that before I saw the scar. I'm just gonna keep operating under the assumption thats where he got it unless a tome says otherwise, Saves the headache. Fun to speculate on though.
yep.
man, i sure do hope we'll get him in the next tome. and jake

I thought that as well before I saw the scar, if its not I'd love for a tome to reveal it. The wording is a little weird though.
Mhnn... I mean, I did hear the phrase 'only x saved him from the chair' (meaning the electric chair) before in context of new forensic methods proving someone's innocence during trial, not two seconds before someone would pull the switch.

Wasn't he in the middle of being hanged before they found out Bayshore was alive? I always thought that was where the scar was from.
I always understood that bit as that Bayshore's survival saved him from a deathsentence, not that it saved him the actual act of being hanged last moment.
And with Caleb's weird luck I can absolutely imagine one of the outlaws he was hunting got the drop on him...
devs, input please.

Nah, I actually kinda like the "Piece it together" approach to the timeline, we still get proper backstory for the characters so its kinda fun to see the speculation for everything.
yesss....
on that note (not trying to derail the thread) you think once we get the Deathslinger in a tome we'll learn where he got the noose scar from?

This is official, all rights holders sign off on this as actual official media, It's insane, I love it.
Ahh. good. I was admittedly worried you meant it in a 'shame on the devs for not having this anywhere official collected like this, forcing the community to do all their work' way

I can't find anything in the listed lore, but the implication to me was that they sealed off that Wing after the massacre.
I don't think that'd make sense.
I mean:
The wing is noted to have been part of the original building, which means the other wings were built later (as in later than the original prison). If the M3 is the thing Caleb did, then why would they keep the wing there without using it for decades? It'd have made more sense to tear it down and rebuilt from scratch if Caleb and Mad Mick (why would they even call him Mick?) were the same person.
-
I agree.
The priority should be this I think:
- Fix game breaking/hindering bugs
- Make the game more accessible (optional colorblind mode, the visual indicators as seen in the mobile version)
- Add more modes (there's a number of good proposals floating around)
- Add/overhaul maps (there so much storytelling in these maps, it's often a shame that things like Lery's or Glenvale have just one version)
- Add new original killers and survivors (maybe even a roleswap dlc that adds survivor versions of the killers to the pool and vise versa)
- Add a skill overview to see how good people are with individual killers and their abilities (which might prompt people to play killers differently)
- Polish the balancing.
-
i mean the easiest solution would be for those brats to get off their high horse, but that's not going to happen, innit?

That's not really partying with them if you're not in a swf.
That was my point. If you're in a swf with a red rank then you should expect to face red ranks. Don't have a hardcore lock on not being able to party with red ranks if you're not one though, especially since its entirely voluntary.
you.... have noticed I was most definitely not talking about sfw?
I'm talking about solo q that pairs you with entitled brats that will throw a tantrum no matter the matches result because... hell i have no idea why.
everyone escapes, they'll either bemoan that the others dragged them down if they don't end up with the most points, or belittle the others if they do.
someone else dies, they'll get insulting about the 'lag of skill and how much the devs suck for pairing them with such newbs'
they die, it's everyone else's fault, no matter what happened.
etc.

You might not be, several of my friends are.
outside of swfs?
-
On the note of the 'mad mick massacre':
I always read that bit in Zarina's lore as if basically Caleb's wrath possessed an inmate in his old cell, leading to that sometimes in the 1980s or such? at least in the recent past from zarina's pov.
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
So long as this involves preventing red ranks from facing anyone lower than red (or in red if they're not there) and is a hard cap stopping me playing with a friend who hasn't played in literally half a year and as such is rank 20 again. She's perfectly fine facing off against reds cause that used to be her normal when playing with me but if I'm suddenly blocked from playing with her ill be pretty damn sad.
anyone who parties with a red should expect to face reds lol
we are not partying with red ranks voluntarily.

I strongly agree with this whole post. NoED is a solo queue problem. Like you said, a solo queue player can do 3-4 bones, and still get hit by noed. Same happens to me all the time.
The devs need to add a token system to small game and detective's hunch. And add a (really trashy) way of find out how many totems are left even if you dont have those perks.
if a 4-man SWF complains about noed, then its a cut and dry "do bones" response. But if any other group/person complains about noed, "do bones" isnt a real response. We need a totem counter.
there's been a thread not too long ago proposing a system to check how many totems are left.

to keep the release date for the killer maybe. making animation is a lot of work. its not so easy as we think.
What i said Myers shares the same base model from the trapper. maybe the messed up the code for him. look exactly to his right (or left?) hand..same as the trapper holding the traps.
I was talking about Deathslinger.
It doesn't make much sense to have the placeholder animation include is limp, but not the finished one

not a designated one. if you're playing from russia, you connect to the european (and maybe asian servers/hubpoints). this cause absurd high pings.

okay: 5 matches with moris now.
from what i CAN see it occurs at random.
Edit: not random, after all, but occasional. Seems to happen regardless of mori, but if someone switches from a survivor with OoO to one without in the lobby
-
@slunder said:
@MeltingPenguins I agree, but the same thing applies to killers: they can facecamp, run the same build over and over gagain ,etc
yeah, and that's sad. like, if someone plays like that, why even have different killers and survivors at all?
-
Gonna try a bit with other perks and moris
-
speaking as a killer main:
It's more that a lot of survivors don't 'let us play' so to speak.
from a certain point on many will run the exact same perks and tactics, rendering a lot of killer abilities obsolete as it calls either for running the exact same perks on every killer AND playing exactly the same, or... well, there's not much of an or aside from purposefully deranking to get better survivors.

Same with the Wraith years ago they changed his animation because it was unfinished. Maybe same with Deathslinger his endscreen animation was a placeholder to release. Same with Myers to release he had a completly other animation. Finishing animation needs time sometime days/months or years.
why would the unfinished animation be more in line with a character's lore than the finished one?

TBH fully honest, I do love playing 'bloody shepherd' to new players, aka giving them a good scare and then showing them the ropes a little. Most catch on fairly quickly, which is great.

It's not really about having a heart. If you do it long enough, and you refuse to commit to chases (to progress the game) when you chase them off the gen for a long enough time, it's, if I'm not mistaken, considered taking the game hostage.
oh, i was chasing them. they just never really went away from near the gens, so there wasn't much i could do...

In-universe it's also your job to get their hopes up, cause that's what the Entity feasts on.
