How about this:
Give killers a 'Calling Stone' or something that can be used once per game. If they want to leave the game, they can go to certain spots on the map and call upon the entity to send someone else. if they do so, ALL gens and totems are blocked for the time being, they leave the game and another killer in queue gets the notification that they can join into an ongoing match, replacing the forfeiting killer.
-
Behold, my art skills:
- We are splitting Offerings and Map Offerings into to separate offerings
- Charms now do something. Perks that don't 'do much' (e.g. increase aura radius etc) are turned into charms that can be attached separately.
(I made a mistake here and put Blessings instead of Hexes... This field would only appear for killers. Blessings only go on the lobby screen, see below)
Group Blessings: Blessings are the Survivor's equivalent to Hexes, and both are now separate from perks. These are things like fewer birds on a map, pallets taking longer to destroy etc. They can be picked in the lobby screen before, no blessing twice.
New Survivor stats: Each Survivor would have set stats influencing their healing/repair abilities (meaning their skillchecks are always a little bigger/smaller if they are good/bad at it without charms, perks or blessings) their speed (maybe) and things like that. Then stats about how many matches this survivor has been used in, how many they escaped etc. Also maybe a second page about how well they do against certain killers.
New Killer Stats: Regular Speed/TR stats, Matches played/won/average kills overview, power use overview (how well you do with their individual powers etc)
Items I'd honestly put in a whole new game mode where you can gather them, or in a bloodweb of its own.
-
TBH:
the entire perk, item, offering etc system needs a massive overhaul... Anyone interested in a suggestion with badly done illustrations? cause I might have something
-
I'll be honest, it occasionally could give one something of a breather, as most killers went into relaxed farming mode with the survs when one or two people dced.
-
I'm not entirely certain, but aren't Glenvale and Midwich already 'upgraded' maps that are live? And yamaoka and badham are just upgraded to that standard?

It's fine if you don' mind the existence of these cults in the lore, but it's pretty hard to argue either of them were well-written. With both of the new characters, the addition of the Entity studies is clunky and heavy-handed. Blight had a standard story that could have reasonably ended when he was left for dead in the ditch, but for some reason he had to be mysteriously saved, only to be mysteriously betrayed, and finally to mysteriously disappear. Why any of this necessary when Blight had already been blithely responsible for mass murder and been extensively involved in the botanical experiments that tie into his powers is the real mystery.
And I already explained how the actions of Felix's father's group are absurd even if you actually accept that Entity-aware secret societies exist.
This too.
Like, would a lot of us mind if the devs would go and just bin about half of talbot's story, and instead have a dark fog seep from the dead woman's eyes, engulfing him?
Or if Felix just went on a typical white upper-class douche begbacker trip and got lost in some ruins?
EDIT: you know what I reckoned would have worked as well?
Scrap felix as a whole, and give us Talbot as both Killer and survivor. I mean, Talbot is the alchemist from back when, and space is warped and time in bendable in the Entity's realm, so, it could as well have worked the survivor!talbot would 'yet' have to become The Blight, or that the Entity didn't know what to make of him, so it could both timelines in.

Not really, at the very least with Felix, that has a lot of his backstory and character connected to his father and the group, and Talbolt only start exploring the metaphysical (and thus, attracting the Entity) after being saved by the group. I don’t see why the existence of the cult is such a problem, again, is been mentioned before.
not the existence, but as i've seen a couple of times now, apparently the devs said that such organization exists in each reality the entity takes people from, as in these cults are what gives it access to these realities. IF i understood things correctly. if that is the case, that's what I am unhappy with. the idea that the entity needs a bunch of morons before it can interact with a timeline.

But it is not a connecting factor, as they are not a constant. Unless you are talking about some leak lore from the archives that I haven’t read, the group that fights the Entity is not a constant, and although there are implications about ancient cults and tribes that have knowledge of the Entity, again, they are not referred as a multiversal constant.
someone stated the devs said something about these cults, i'm currently trying to find the source.
@Science_Guy said:
The Secret Entity-Studying Society in Felix's lore was hilariously convoluted. You're telling me these parents let their children just run around freely on an island they know is linked to and preyed upon by a malevolent eldritch horror?
And their only response when said horror shows up, the same entity that they ostensibly have been preparing to meet for generations, was to just be taken themselves?
Sometime less is more. Both Felix and the Blight have lores that could have had half of the weird Entity stuff excised and it would have made for a much more tidy story.
funnily enough, I would not be adverse against more of the characters' stories being interconnected beyond chapters (like, Jeff and Legion, or zarina and deathslinger have their lore connected within chapters, but i would like to see if some other chars are connected on a smaller, less ... absurd (?) scale than some weird cult thing
-
My 'issue' with it is less what it does, regardless what it is, but more that it is a connecting factor. I dunno, it feels to me as if it takes something away from... i dunno... the sense of dread?
-
It's the combination possibilities.
BF is quite meh imho, but DG and Undying...
Imagine those two in combo with e.g. Haunted ground and BBQ
-
i'd play HG for the exposed status. they cleanse a HG, it jumps to a free totem, and you get the auras through retri

Yeah true, looking forward to running devour, ruin, toth and undying. Undying makes retribution obsolete
i'd say run retri instead of toth. sure, toth reduces the speed and gives more bloodpoints, but i think U and retri together have the bigger combo potential

Is he a werewolf? I just saw he's scottish

Possible they moved the alchemist up the queue because of the upcoming blight event?

Undying with HG and Retri... sure, that's three perk slots spent... but imagine...

In my opinion, survivors will never use hatch offerings. Increased chances of hatch in a certain area helps the killer, not the survivor. Unless the offerings are hidden, it is useless for survivor.
this. if it's hidden, it's great. though it still increases the chance of the killer finding it first. killers can move around the map more freely, thus having an increased chance of spotting the hatch first

My 1v1 mentality is what makes matches interesting for both me and the killer. They get the thrill of the hunt and I get the thrill of being chased. But if you would rather m1 a gen for like 80 seconds be my guess. To each their own.
And here I thought people begging to get morid by Myers were a bit weird...

Me personally, I'm not interested in playing a Killer in a game where you can be killed as the Killer.
How does 'allow us to hit the killer with the item we carry if it's depleted' sound? (this is a serious question... look, I just wanna smack ghost face with my toolbox, is that too much to ask?)
-
On the note of deathslinger:
try playing him on custom matches to see WHAT he can shoot through and what not. for example: The railing/bannisters on his hometurf? he can shoot through. Railing/bannisters in the chapel? he can't.

That would be funny. Get 100k BP. collect... collect... done.
i mean, we DO have those challenges. I was more thinking 'pay x BP to unlock this challenge'

Today starts new PTB for chapter 17. So everyone is saving BP to get a boost once the killer/survivor is released in about 3 weeks to get both to lv 50 on day 1.
You need about 3 million (maybe 3.5 depending on how much expensive stuff you get in the web). You can save 1 million by default, like 120k with dailies and currently 565k BP with level 1 and 2 from the tome, being 1.785k BP. Depending on how far you get with level 3 until release it can be another 290k and then the shrine can be bought twice, as the release is normally on Tuesday and the shrine resets like 9 hours after release, giving another 1.200k BP. So 3.3 million is roughly the max and would be sufficient to get both to level 50
ah. i thought it had something to do with challenges that would require BPs...

The killers you cited have counterplay. Deathslinger's terror radius/music needs tweaking. Tunnelhead needs to not be able to easily cancel his power. Other than those things, they're fine. If you want to talk killers with no counterplay, it's Spirit. Her only counter is to run a perk (Iron Will) that she can then counter with a perk of her own (Stridor). That definitely needs to be changed. No one should have to run a perk to counter a killer. So, let's see if this new one offers that. If not, I'll join you on the complaint train.
spirit has a counter without IW in 'be very quiet' as silly as it sounds. If you hear her phasing sound, stand perfectly still/sneak. This is, of course, also is done away with with stridor.

Yeah but that's just it. I don't reckon it is licensed - there's usually some colossal hint as the license and/or its holder in the trailers; a kind of pre-hand giveaway with most killers (i.e Freddy and Myers). However, and despite last chapter literally being Silent Hill, I'd like a licensed killer nonetheless.
yeah.... huh... I noticed this on a stream lately, where the streamer (who has streamloots) wondered about a 'werewolf' soundcard being played apparently, and i was confused because since 4.0 there ARE wolf's howling sounds on various maps...
I conclude that before 4.0 there were no wolf howls... now there are... would that count as 'hint'?

Console so we don’t get a choice, we just get awful frames to the point we can’t see in certain matches. It’s just been getting worse with every update (crossplay) being the most recent, shame
fingers crossed it'll get better.
I think the background preparation for the graphics update that came with 4.0 is to blame here. Think of it like planks across the floor when you're laying new tiles, maybe.

I wouldn't be so sure. Even in light of player speculations of this new killer being a werewolf, I'm solidly convinced this is either Vigo or Jekyll... either would satisfy me honestly
some people speculate it's going to be a killer from Amnesia, which would make sense IF the ch17 killer IS licensed.
-
@Spookybat8930 said:
Kinda a joke but kinda not, frames are a mess even as basic killers on basic maps and it only gets worse with extra effects in killers, cosmetics and maps... so adding more to maps in graphics ... ehh probably be unplayable (more unplayable)
what setting are you on?

@TeabaggingGhostface said:
All killers have counterplay
Also, deathslinger isn't a worse huntress, they're two completely different killers, literally the only thing they have in common is a ranged attack
Deathslinger has a slightly larger terror radius than huntress but doesn't have a telltale sign that it's him (huntress hums, which can be heard from quite a distance away), his ranged attack hits in a straight line, while the trajectory of the hatchets arc
What a lot of these threads boil down to still seems to be a cry to reduce the killer pool down to 2-4 killers total, if even that many. in a way it's like as if people would complain 'why did they make more than on slasher horror movie ever, all they do is kill teenagers'

Yup, and Slinger is not even that good on the 1v1 imo if he can't get a normal m1 before shooting (that's why M&A is his best perk). If he has to hit two shots on a survivor he is f* because the survivor can run the entire map before he is withing shot range again.
I usually run reload perks on him, so i get 4-6/10 on spearing survivors twice in a row successfully, but I see a lot of people going with the reeling and TR addons on him

Kinda funny talking about Blood Lodge because most loops there have 0 counterplay to most killers lmao. Just because you can't run in circles on those trucks against him doesn't mean he is uncounterable.
also, keep in mind they explicitly insist on a 1:1. not a regular 1:4.
What do you call it again if a killer is so fixated on a single survivor (regardless if they are the obsession or not) that they forget there's three others running around doing stuff?
-
Matches where I manage to startle the everloving hell out of survivors. it's satisfying to get a sacrifice in, but even more satisfying to get a positive 'you're scary' in the end

Is this the same kind of situation with your video proof of several killers not having counterplay that you mysteriously deleted?

@azame said:
As it stands right now we got Deathslinger, PH the last to killers have no counterplay. The devs are most likely gonna do the same for the upcoming killer and genrushing will become even more prevalent.
The devs wont focus on survivor when they make the killers and it's obvious. They really need to make a better designed killer like oni, new bubba,billy huntress, nurse. They got to stop only thinking of one side. The game is becoming stale and very uninteresting.
as someone who has managed to outrun and evade Caleb and PH I think there is counterplay.
There's just no 'clear' counterplay if you want to put it that way. it's a little more chaotic, and as a friend put it oddly fittingly:
Don't think slasher movies, think slasher movie parodies.

There are plenty of horror games that rely on you feeling paranoid and stressed, as well as not safe in your own home. The Wattson-Scott Test is a prime example of this. You feel paranoid, and get IRL levels of stress and fear even though its just text. Its also one of my favourite horror games.
look, i can't go into the exact details, but there IS a difference between these things.
Also, are you suggesting that I don't have the right to DC if something isn't good for my well-being and should just 'man up' or something because 'it's what I signed up for' or some BS?
-
@Chromeskull said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1545902#Comment_1545902
It should be. DBD is, despite all else, a horror game. The stress you feel is part of that experience.
no. because it's fiction. I should get scared and stressed in a different way, but I should NOT have the same reaction as if I am in a real life threatening situation.
neuroscience fact.
if a situation in a game triggers the same flight/fight response as a similar situation would irl, something is not alright.

Not if I had it my way (IDK if the devs would do it though... which is why we can discuss what we would like to see)
Have an addon that changes the RBT to the Venus Fly Trap from SAW 2 (this I can see just being cosmetic only) ... and another one that changed the RBT to a Shotgun Collar from SAW 3 (this not so much in the way of only being cosmetic)
that could work.
And tbh, with the devs teasing the graphics update, maybe.
Though, cross your heart, the focus should be on bugfixes first, then cosmetics.
-
@RaSavage42 said:

Ok... but still
It's only traps the fit her mechanics Other than the Angel trap (with I'm against BTW)
It would offer different interactions based on which trap she brings (and by that I mean that she'd only be bringing that one trap not 4 different ones... I know that is what happens in the movies but that wouldn't work in game)
it would be purely cosmetic, though, wouldn't it?
@TWiXT : You can expect an onslaught of DCs if something like that would happen. I'll be honest: Pig is the one killer where I WILL dc or suicide on hook, as she causes an IRL stress response in me for some reason like no other killer does. which isn't a compliment.

Wait... What
This thread is discussing bringing in different traps from the SAW series for The Pig (Amanda Young) to use
What in the world does what you said have to do with this thread
train of logic here:
bringing in different traps (and more of them per match) because it is how it is in the movies, then how would it make sense in a complete different situation, namely the game's circumstances of Mandy being tasked with sacrificing these people to an eldritch being that feasts on their hope.
If you stress the survivors out through more traps, the Entity will only get indigestion....
which is a good thing, though...
-
@RaSavage42 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1545560#Comment_1545560
True... but the SAW series is different
and the game should play more into the movies
How many traps were truly inescapable (cause that's the whole point of this thread)
I know of the two obvious ones (The Classroom trap and The Angel Trap)
how many people in the saw movies had to worry open getting eaten by an eldritch being?
Saying 'the movies were different' is not an argument to justify things. and... the closer you get to the movies... I think there might be licensing trouble.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1545487#Comment_1545487
Good idea (even if it was a joke)
That's how the movies worked soooooo.... can you blame us for wanting more ways of playing her like the movies
yeah, but to argue 'that's how the movies work' would call for all killers to be neigh unbeatable, wouldn't it? think about how much it takes in the movies to best them till the next installment, and this would apply to original killers too.
-
You guys might as well just suggest giving her the ability to remove all gens from the match and instakilling survivors the moment she spots them, good heavens...
to elaborate:
The pig's traps add a delay to a match, calling for changing one's general M.O. A good group of survivors, swf or random, knows to stop doing gens if someone has a trap on (unless the addon that disables taking them off is active).
it makes matches longer, sure, but not obnoxiously so.
Freddy's traps don't stop you from doing gens, aka engaging in the main objective.
Giving the pig more traps, and/or even making it harder and harder to take them of would bar survivors from the main objective of the game.
-
I think Deathslinger really got the shortest end of the stick:
The branding iron is a knock-off of infectious fright without IF's possibility to still move around, and the coin... lbr... on how many maps can you actually successfully reel in a survivor from 15m? I tried with friends with various perk/add-on combos, and the moment you have any obstacle the survivor can even remote move behind, you're screwed.
-
it only affects the crows already on the map, as the afk crows are a different thing.
