How about we bar red ranks entirely from playing with lower ranks?
Because, let's be real, how many decent (as in their behavior in a match and chat) red ranks have you actually encountered?
Let them grind each others nerves down without bothering lower ranks.

yeah, but I dare say many of them have too big an ego to stay like that long. and if, they will likely play in a way that's actually bannable.
So long as this involves preventing red ranks from facing anyone lower than red (or in red if they're not there) and is a hard cap stopping me playing with a friend who hasn't played in literally half a year and as such is rank 20 again. She's perfectly fine facing off against reds cause that used to be her normal when playing with me but if I'm suddenly blocked from playing with her ill be pretty damn sad.

That was my point. If you're in a swf with a red rank then you should expect to face red ranks. Don't have a hardcore lock on not being able to party with red ranks if you're not one though, especially since its entirely voluntary.

I'm talking about solo q that pairs you with entitled brats that will throw a tantrum no matter the matches result because... hell i have no idea why.
everyone escapes, they'll either bemoan that the others dragged them down if they don't end up with the most points, or belittle the others if they do.
someone else dies, they'll get insulting about the 'lag of skill and how much the devs suck for pairing them with such newbs'

I'm saying that in solo sure. As killer sure. If you're a red rank solo then prepare to face and play with red ranks, if you're a purple rank expect to play with everyone else. If you're a red rank killer expect a lot of red rank survivors, if you're a purple expect to play against everyone else.
However if you want to party with red ranks as a non red rank then don't lock that from happening; if people want to play with friends then don't stop them.

If a player wants to be entitled they will be entitled. There's nothing you can do against that.
Not every red rank is like that, and the issue isn't exclusive to red ranks.
