Piping is meaningless! Why are people not vetting this their heads? Especially with MMR it becomes a random number noone cares about.

The whole game is meaningless, its the player that gives it meaning.

If someone enjoys going for a pip or wants to get a high pip number then they determine its value.

I'm not saying the system is great (it sucks) but you cannot claim nobody cares about it.

Just had a billy face camp me the whole game. He also had Noed and still didn’t go for anybody. What’s the purpose of rocking the perks he had if he’s facecamping.

bigger question is, why is this still in the game? Can we take face camping out as a whole or the killer receive a punishment for it during the match? Lets take facecamping out or not have it be a “strategy” anymore.

Look facecamping sucks and is a scummy thing to do, however I have receive sooooo many "facecamper" messages from salty players in matches where I don't even stay near a hook for a split second after hooking them.

The issue is people will always complain about it because "salt" and sadly SWF groups (and I'm sure just toxic people in general) abused the crap out of BHVRs early punishment methods to the point the killer was being punished for chasing survivors who chose to stay near the hook.

Basically toxic people will always find a way to be toxic and ruin things for everyone else. While I'd love to see facecamping be removed there is no easy solution.

Exactly, by the time you type the whole thing out the rage is largely gone

    LARGELY GONE!!!! MY RAGE!?!

"Attach image, open all folder, (ok where is that picture of a horses dong I Googled earlier for situations like this....hmmm), select image, open attachment, insert message (YOU ARE HORSE DONG!), send!

That'll teach them to kill me in a game!!1

PS: Yeah I feel the requirements of sending messages via PS4 (and XBOX too I'd assume) often lead people to just calm down or not want to bother.

  • @tixerp said:

Yeah I don't like pity. I'd rather be flashlight spammed and t-bagged at the exit gates. I just make sure to force them out, even if they're hesitant.

    Depends.

If party streamers were used and the killer had an abysmal match I'll usually offer myself up as some bloodpoints for them.

If they killer refuses/makes it obvious they don't want the hook then I just leave so as to not hold them up.

You have 17 killers and 19 survivors, btw. So if you used some math, you'd have 11 keys per survivor and 8 moris per killer(not a huge difference really). That said, you used Plunderer's to get that, something killers don't have a version of. Most of your keys likely came from Plunderer's as well, because there are 5 different iridescent items/addons for survivors.

Yes, and I made a point of saying I use Plunder 3.

Unfortunately I think that last bit that got removed was actually the part where I mentioned about my Plunders build I run often for fun (the part I'm not re-writing).

My main point was its RNG and I didn't notice (myself) a huge difference in the Bloodweb but as a survivor you also have a free way of getting keys, unlike Killer and Mori.

PS: I hate both items and wish they didn't exist.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Well, it's not exactly like we expect to load into every match and go against the same thing. I can't stand the chainsaw killers, but I go into matches knowing that they're two in twenty, and one of them is considered a laughing stock, so the odds of getting them are relatively low. Same with keys and flashlights. I think that flash-lighting at a pallet is something of a Richard relocation, especially since I don't show any signs of toxicity, but they're pretty rare.

I also don't demand nerfs like half the forum posters. If anything I just subtly imply it.

Best analogy I can give to your question is within Yahtzee Croshaw's reviews of Dark Souls over on Zero Punctuation. Something about banging your head against a brick wall.

That is a quick way to paint fading bricks,

Its not that easy and at the moment its not possible.

Also since when did the legion skins got other voices?

If its not possible (agree that DBD may not be able to alter the voice as they do not OWN the license) then why hype up Legendary skins as "playing a completely new character" and pricing them at ridiculous prices.

Don't promise something you can't deliver as its just going to upset the consumer.

Fixed 9 bugs. They lied their asses off about fixing the silent slug bug . To make things worse they aren't acknowledging any of the new sound issues to the point the games not just harder for killer than it ever was, it's bordering on completely unplayable.

Its not that the Developers aren't acknowledging any of the new sound issues, but that they simply cannot hear them. ^.^

Why do killers get Ebony Moris almost EVERY blood web but survivors struggle to get keys?

And please do not come in here talking about how ebony moris are rare to see. I've had times where I've gotten them 4 blood webs in a row. I currently have 7 of them, but average about 1 key every 5-10 blood webs.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9W53P6VXYOU8/678ed508edef1bc2a083e01e63c43fc3.jpg

    Its just your optics.

I have been playing DBD since day 1 release (PS4) and I have more keys than Moris. (Also just my optics)

Now I'm sure my killer to survivor played ratio is skewed as I swapped between what role I preferred and honestly I don't track that stuff. What I noticed is that I would get a Ebony Mori within 2-5 bloodwebs as a killer, and keys I seem to get an pink key every 3-7 Bloodwebs (seems to be a little less than killer mori).

The thing is as a survivor I tend to get a pink key in almost every single game (when running the Plunders 3 perk).

My current stockpile of Ebony Moris (as of today) on all my killers combined is 136 (this is just Ebony) - (Reason its so high is because I don't use them)

My current stockpile of pink keys (as of today) on all my survivors is 212 (this is just pink keys) - (Reason its so high is because I don't use them)

I have all my killers (I do not own Freddy/Pyramid Head/Gunslinger) to level 50 with nearly all perks on each and every killer.

I have all my survivors (I do not own Quinten/Chryl/The lady that came with Gunslinger) to level 50 with all perks on nearly everyone. I actually have more of my killers "perfected" on perks than I do my survivors. Even though I seem to find slightly more Ebony Mori in bloodwebs I actually accumulate more keys (for free) simply due to the perk "Plunders Instinct 3".

Take that information for whatever it may be as this is simply my experience. While I

Yup, because if you're not 100% optimal ALL the time then you must be bad.

    Flawless logic.

  • Every chapter/major patch:

Group A - Everything is busted ggez BHVR!

    Group B - Survivor/killer is OP/UP this is why BHVR hates killer/survivor

Group C- Omg all the bugs in this chapter do you even playtest!? (I actually fall into this category but I just keep quiet.)

Group D - Everything is GREAT with this release, WOW BHVR you're the best company I've ever seen and I can't wait to see what you do next (fanboys)

    Group E - I ain't saying ######### on these forums.

    Edit: I forgot Group F - I'm uninstalling, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • Open your mind eye and look at the perks with clarity!

Let the shapes take hold of your thoughts!

  • If the company says nothing, people will take that as a stance.

If the company says something, people will criticize every single word.

If the company tries to play the "neutral" card, people will call them cowards/spineless.

Basically they cannot win because everyone expects something different from them. On top of that a company cannot speak for its employees (from Dave the janitor to Bill the CEO) and the distrust in major companies (all the lies often sold to us) places a target on anything they do.

So......I don't care what they do.

I mean look she has a weapon, she has the mentality, shes perfect for the killer role! Plus it is canon she has control over the otherworld so it makes sense why she'd have something like Pyramid Head's power. I mean look at the video shes so perfect for an antagonist plus shes even the antagonist of Silent Hill 3 the game heather is from! Like I said im perfectly happy with all the chapter we have in fact im more than happy with it Im just curious why Claudia was ruled out or if she was even considered :)

Yeah DBD holds your hand far to frequently for my liking.

I hate knowing the obsession is being chased

I hate knowing the killer is using "Hex: Insert name" simply because I touched something.

I hate knowing a survivor has No Mither at the start of a match (wish they started healthy but had no way to ever heal/the perk takes effect after first hit)

Basically I hate having all this information spoon fed to me, since it removes any tension or actual need for awareness.

I am curious, from watching gameplay, my build would go like this. Play with your food, I'm all ears, corrupt intervention, and infectious fright. I picked play with your food since it is an amazing chase perk that not much player expect. I picked I'm all ears, so when a survivor vaults a window I can hit them with my ranged attack through a window. Corrupt intervention is there to slow down generators. Infectious fright will be great because you can quickly cage someone and move on to your next target with infectious. What will you run?

I see it with survivors and with killers where they'll be AFK for half a match before they come back and play. I assume it's people who start searching for a match and then for some reason wander away.

I did get a super salty message from a survivor once when I killed him while he was AFK. If you don't want to get killed while AFK, don't go AFK :D

Yeah I'll typically give the AFK survivor a chance to come back, however once the crows start bombing me with notifications I am going to kill you.

  • @johnmwarner said:

Now, I know inevitably we’ll get that people who don’t need to try and hit great skill checks all day which is great for them.

Personally though ever since the change from 2-1% on gen great skill checks I have found myself playing it way safer. Why risk notifying the killer and losing 10% progress when I can just hit the fat part of the skill check. I usually max out on objective anyways so the 300 points doesn’t matter too much.

On healing checks I feel the same, although sometimes I use addons that increase healing great skill bonus progression.

Not to sound like I'm "tooting my own horn" but I use to try and power through old ruin and as a result I've gotten incredibly consistent at hitting great skillchecks on gens. I'll (aside from Doctor) almost always go for them and I hit them far more than I miss.

If its anything aside from a gen skillcheck I just play it "safe" since its no longer just my safety on the line.

  • @Orion said:

As promised, here's the second story thread.

We were up against a Ghostface on the Wretched Shop. My build is a bunch of aura reading perks, but, fortunately, he didn't seem to use his stealth much, so I was able to keep an eye on him most of the time.

He got a good start, managed to down and hook multiple people, myself included, but we kept pumping out gens. We (me+SWF teammate) also destroyed every totem we could find, but, as usual, the others didn't.

Last gen pops, Nea goes down, we get the notification about NOED. After he hooks her, I finish opening the gate that Jeff left at 99% and we escape, because we're not suicidal and would like to escape.

Jeff stayed behind to try to mount a rescue without even finding NOED first. Obviously he died and then who does he blame? My SWF teammate and I, naturally, because we didn't go on a suicide mission alongside him.

I told him we weren't going to try to unhook against an active NOED and that if he didn't want Nea to die, maybe they should've tried to destroy some totems.

Moral of the story: break those ######### totems, for the love of the Entity.

    Yes, but actually no.

I tend to leave exactly 1 totem (assuming I can keep track) so that I can be next to it when the 5th gen is about to pop.

I know how demoralizing it must be for the killer to have NOED active only to instantly get destroyed.

I don't use NOEd as a killer simply because I personally don't enjoy it, and as a survivor I too feed on lost hope!

  • @ManyAchievables said:

Mine is personally Distortion. I love this perk because it reveals some of the most popular Killer perks in the game to you, and even though there's only 3 tokens, you still know they exist and are aware and can counter them.

    What about you?

    Plunders 3.

I like to let the item I get dictate my focus in the match/duration I have the item.

Adds a neat twist and keeps me always doing something different.

  • As killer I really need to spend more time playing 1 or 2.

I tend to get bored easily and switch killers almost every match. For this reason (while I'll toot my horn and say I am a good killer) I do not learn the little niche things each has to offer and lose out on becoming optimal.

As survivor I simply need to spend more time learning maps.

Because I play solo I have no problem pushing gens and escaping (selfishly) but knowing tiles/loops on maps is something I need to improve. While I can put up a decent chase I often have no plan as to where I should be running and just hope I'm heading somewhere with a pallet/vault.

  • Its sad that DBD has caused me to read all the messages as negative right off the bat.

The first image I assumed was sarcastic due to YOU having gotten him killed, but after reading the others I see you actually saved them.

  • @Peanits

Its not fair to pit me against players with actual skill either yet you still do it!

    ....every single time....

    (._. )

  • Its similar to the skillcheck popping the same time a survivor gets hooked....feels like its every damn time.

Its all RNG of course, but because it affects us in a negative way we notice it more and thus create the perspective its more common than it actually is.

  • @Orion

Literally Google searched "Dr. Strange meme" and just tossed it in here, so to still have received a 7/10 is well beyond my effort haha.

  • @BabyCameron10

The Haddonfield situation you posted was incredibly common during the Hallow Blight(?) event (the one with the flowers) as the flower objective would actually take generator spawn points. There were times when a match would have 3 generators pretty much touching one another.

  • I play PS4 and I cannot tell you how many times I've entered a locker while trying to vault a window...

    sigh...

  • @tippy2k2

Thanks. You saved me from having to type a very similar response....once again....for the 5000th time too.

  • While Devotion doesn't equate skill it does equate time spend playing (matches). As a result it shows (to an extent) a level of understanding/experience with the game.

Obviously something to be taken lightly, but not without some merit.

  • "Ain't nobody got time for that!"

Your ability to avoid participating in difficult activities infuriates the Entity, but so be it. During a match you will remain in an "AFK" like state until the match is over.

  • @johnmwarner said:

I know the Devs said in the next month, and lots of threads about matchmaking being bad day “I can’t wait for the new system,” but why is everyone so hopeful about it? To my knowledge we still have no idea how they are determine skill.

Since the new MMR is going to be hidden they quite literally could change nothing and we couldn’t prove it. I’m not saying that’s their idea I’m sure they will try but you get my point.

Will long chases be considered skillful? Does it matter how many pallets I drop? Is a one minute chases against trapper the same as a one minute chase against nurse?

I assume a safe unhook is skillful, how about healing someone? Is healing someone else as skillful as self caring or using a medkit on yourself?

For a killer is multiple hooking a survivor as skillful as killing them in one hook? Are we still being punished if they suicide on hook?

BHVR is actually going to get your information (home address, work address, phone number, name/birth date, weight/height) and send over a professional personal trainer.

This trainer will dress up as a different DBD killer everyday and chase you around at random and unexpected times with a foam weapon. This will allow the trainer to see your survival skills firsthand and determine the best place for you (rank wise) in DBD.

As for tracking your skill to play killer. BHVR will send a box of puppies (or kittens) to your doorstep. This test is to see how long it takes for you to bring the puppies (or kittens) inside and snuggle. The longer it takes (perhaps you never do) will determine your lack of empathy and qualify you for a higher killer rank in DBD.

  • My guess is too fill the "RNG box/Bloodweb" and make "escape" keys more rare while still allowing the add-ons for keys to be used (broken key).

Except the issue is you don't need a metabuild against fredster, he only destroys you if you derp around and don't play optimal (follow the killer around, try plays and have fun instead of focusing on objective) but that's the case for many killers in this game.

This argument of "X killer is too strong/X perk is too strong" will continue to go around in circles for eternity.

For every person who says "X is too powerful" there will be another who says it isn't.

What DBD needs is to change core problems rather than try and fix individual things on either side.

If the foundation is broken, the house will always be crooked.

No no, a Killer who applies pressure and prevents a save is a bad and petty killer. Didn't you read the rulebook? Thou shall not inconvenience thy Survivor in any capacity.

It always confuses me when people say "if genrush is a problem you just need to apply pressure" yet when the killer does apply pressure they are "campers, tunnelers, petty/trash, etc".

There is no winning in this community.

This also goes the other way with killer complaining when survivors run DS/BT but will then (actually) camp/tunnel them...
