  • I mentioned this in a post I made earlier. Almost every single PH I've gone against in red ranks immediately goes to where he caged the previous survivor and just tunnels off that. He has no incentive to go anywhere else because he knows survivors NEED to deal with that cage.

I play Killer way more than survivor, like 60/40, but even I have to say I'm getting sick of PH and the way people play him, its the same every single game; cage, tunnel, cage, tunnel.

  • daily missions, archives list, streamers, BBQ & Chili. Just farm and dump them into the other survivors or killers you want to level. Its a good idea in general to unlock everyone's teachables.

  • To be honest the only survivor who has stereotyped themselves in my eyes are Claudette players, I can usually assume they will be the one that wants to interact the least with the killer and try to hide the whole game. Other than that, the other survivors are just survivors to me.

  • This has been brought up plenty before, survivors would abuse it my forcing the killer to stay near the hook by swarming around it, giving them free time to unhook their friend whenever.

  • The type of people who would use stretch res dont care about fun and challenging, to them the only way they can have fun is if they win, so they will do whatever it takes for them to have a better shot at it.

  • I 100% agree. The game originally was designed around solo play, and SWF groups have largely made the game unbalanced since its introduction. A lot of those survivors you see in red ranks that you feel don't belong there probably play mostly in SWF groups and outside of all the benefits it brings they can't hold their own when they play solo. I believe playing solo survivor overall makes you a better player rather than relying on information being constantly fed to you by SWF teammates.

  • I don't find Freddy too boring to play against IF he isn't using paintbrush or jump rope. Thing is most Freddy's will use one or both in all their games along with PoP, Thana, DL etc. All that causes is a very, very, very boring game.

  • @MortisCarnifex said:

    I understand, but I don't agree.

Most survivors that are sent to the naughty box are place right next to, or close to, another survivor. This usually means a survivor can safely help their buddy and get out. If a Pyramid Head gets to him at the same time or before a survivor does, the survivor can either wait for him to leave or complete gens if he's being facecamped.

I don't know if making him unable to see his caged survivors would really be fair. If it's really a big problem that the community agrees on, then maybe add a barrier to the survivor that prevents him from being close to them. Add the ability to stop someone from being caged. Make cages and hooks separate. Punish the killer for going after people who just got uncaged.

Personally I haven't experienced the players you talk about, so it honestly could be an isolated thing. Or something like a face camping bubba; annoying but can be dealt with.

Yeah, this is all just my opinion after all, from two days of non-stop PH games in red ranks. Ultimately we will have to wait and see how things develop and turn out, but atm its been a non-stop tunnel fest almost every game and that's not fun for anyone other than the killer.

I've been seeing way more disconnects to and suicide on hooks because as soon as one person gets caged, and they see PH going right for the same person a lot of people just give up and don't want to play against that.

If the PH is successfully returning to a cage in time to tunnel, that’s the teams fault.

You can’t just wait it out a little to get more gen repair done. The moment the cage appears, is the moment PH is furthest away from it than anybody else in the trial. It’s on the team to do prompt saves KNOWING DS & BT won’t help, and move away before PH has any cues to track who was just freed from a cage.

Of course you are right, in a SWF composition this would be the case, but you know how solo queue is. I think his power is extremely helpful against SWF, but too overbearing for solo queue since survivors will not be communicating and coordinating with each other. It's kinda similar to the whole Mori situation, "I think this is a 4 man SWF so I'm going to try hard and mori them", when in reality its just a group of randos.

Please elaborate. Where did I exaggerate? "Only allow survivors to see it, and further do not reward as many points for caging a survivor rather than hooking them normally. That way in incentivizes killers to actually go for hooks and not just cage every time". Your words, not mine.

"This ability is strong against DS and SWF though, so simply removing his sight of it would drastically reduce the tunneling aspect of it which is what a lot of people are having issues with, not so much the ability itself."

Great, you even further reduced PH's ability to do one of the core concepts of killer; guarding your objectives (Survivors in the "Hooked" state in this case). Something that PH is already poor at EVEN if he is hard tunneling across the entire map to a caged survivor who may or may not have spawned next to a teammate. That is the crux of the issue; you're proposing a reduction of map pressure to a killer who already has low map pressure / non-existant mobility tools. The survivors will know for 100% certain that an unhook is safe, every time. And that is the elimination of all pressure from a cage. What you're proposing is a straight nerf, both to PH's that tunnel off of cage and those who don't.

Why beat around the bush? The real issue is that neither Survivor nor Killer get any mileage out of hook perks from cages, despite the game being balanced to some degree around hook perks from the start. If even one survivor has an obsession perk, DS must be played around as if they all did. Even if no survivors have Borrowed Time, it must be played around as if they all do. Even if the Killer doesn't have BBQ & Chili, it must be played around as if he does. That is how the game is balanced, and cages wildly skew this.

I get that the devs might have wanted shake up the meta or make something different, but "this ain't it chief". Nobody asked for this and I don't think either side is happy with cage mechanics.

Let the survivors enjoy their safety blanket of DS / BT / We'll Make It and let Killers get their BBQ stacks / Pop-Goes-the-Weasel procs. Usually the simplest solution is the correct one; allow all hook perks and mechanics to work on cages.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. More killers need more map pressure to be able to compete in the higher ranks, I 100% agree. However in this situation all this part of his power does is enable an incredibly frustrating play style that no one likes to go against.

    @bingbongboi90 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1363005#Comment_1363005

In what way is it a free BBQ? If it is anything it is a free escape. The killer sends the survivor to the other side of the map, ussually there are already survivors. So if survivors arent focusing on the gen and actually rescue the person in the cage there is no way ph can arrive first at the cage.

I mean free BBQ in the sense that he gets to see where the hook spawns, and knows "well thats where im headed next because thats where the survivors have to go." In a normal hook the killer can camp sure, but they will obviously lose if they stick around, this also gives the killer the choice of guarding the hook to secure a kill, or go pressure generators. At the moment his ability just tells him where he needs to go next to secure either another hit or tunnel, there's no more decision.

  • @HP150 said:

Let me get this straight. You want to remove his ability to see his caged survivor AND reward less BP for caging in attempt to DISCOURAGE the Killer from using his power? A power that's already very situational / usually detrimental to the killer to use in normal gameplay (IE, not wasting time by bee-lining across the entire map to a cage that has likely spawned next to another survivor anyways).

Those are... uh... quite the suggestions. You should go work for BHVR, I'm sure you would fit right in. Hey killers, stop using your power or you're punished!

You are greatly exaggerating and misconstruing what my original post was talking about. The killer can use his power, im not saying to not use it, what I'm saying is right now almost every PH is caging, the immediately running to the cage. It doesn't matter if its "situational" if the majority of PH are playing this way. Like you said, its their ability so why not use it? The problem is the issues this ability brings, its basically a free BBQ, and allows the killer to tunnel immediately while ignoring DS and the like.

This ability is strong against DS and SWF though, so simply removing his sight of it would drastically reduce the tunneling aspect of it which is what a lot of people are having issues with, not so much the ability itself.

They never "just adjust" a mechanic. If anything they will probably put cages on a cool down, then make it so that if he has a cage up he cant lay more trenches, then blind PH to cages and narrow his blast radius. GG EZ fixed killer, then in 6 months.. buff him again. If not give him a whole new rework ... Money well earned.

They have adjusted killers before, Freddy, Legion, Nurse. You don't need to completely gut a killer to "fix" them. A simple change of not allowing PH to see his cage would make a big difference I believe.

  • @Onionthing said:

Im just prepared for him to get nerfed into the ground like every other paid killer ... They start of strong, then they devalue it to "meh" levels ... so go ahead, im still going to play him. Im desensitized at this point.

I don't want to see him nerfed to the ground at all. We need more strong killers, I'm just not a fan of the cage mechanic and the play style it brings is all.

  • Overwatch forums got filled with these pointless threads as well, stop trying to turn this into Tumblr.

  • They need to actually care about their killer player base and not just cater to SWF. They are literally dividing their own games player base.

Well you clearly have a problem with SWF if you're talking this much about stats. Who cares? People hate solo because of potato teammates and like to play with friends.

You are in a thread about SWF, apparently you do care. As does almost every single person who plays killer in this game. Looks like my Fox News comment was spot on.

  • @PapiQuentin_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1077973#Comment_1077973

Well after seeing various topics on SWF. I always assume that someone complaining about SWF means a 4 man team.

So are you really complaining about duos and trios too?

Considering this is the first time you are noticing what I have been saying shows you really haven't read anything I've mentioned. You aren't worth talking to anymore, you only see what you want and cannot be swayed in your mindset. I am not complaining about 2 or 3 man, all i have said is that the devs stats about majority of games being comprised of solo 4 man and SWF groups make up a very small percentage of the matches is a lie.

  • @PapiQuentin_ said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1077854#Comment_1077854

    Yes I do.

But i can't speak for everyone because everyone's experience is different, I hardly face SWF's and when I do they're rarely try hard.

You can't speak for everyone either

I find you keep thinking im only talking about 4 man SWF groups. I am talking about SWF in any form, are in a majority of matches played overall.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1077875#Comment_1077875

Yeah that's how arguments work. You can't just say whatever you want and pretend it's fact. It's funny you mention Fox News because they make up statistics just like you're doing.

I haven't even mentioned the dev data. I have no idea how accurate it is but I can say with absolute certainty that your claim that 100% of games having at least a 2 man swf is not true.

I mention Fox News because of the sheep believe what they tell you without thinking for yourself mentality. I can concede its not 100%, but i will say at least 85% or more has at least a 2 man in it.

I do not, and others do not believe the statistics the devs posted a couple of months ago which included SWF statistics. They were answering questions about it in the thread, but continuously ignored questions to get more into detail about the SWF stats.

They do not want to reveal the true stat because they know how imbalanced and unfair it is. This game was not designed around SWF in mind, and still isn't, yet it is still being appeased due to monetary issues.

  • No, they appease the survivor player base and would never do anything to risk losing a big portion of them. They would rather killers take the brunt of it and suffer through terrible games in red ranks.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1077862#Comment_1077862

"Yet every single game I play as killer there is at least a 2 man group, every single game."

Please prove this. I would love to see you come up with something that says 100% of your games have at least a 2 man and you face 4 solos 0% of the time.

    I'll wait.

So you going to just keep ignoring what im saying and not answer a valid point im making? You can be survivor SWF sided all you want but that doesn't change the fact that killers are facing SWF in every game they play, be it in 2 man or more per match.

You ask me to prove to you my side, yet you cannot prove other than "well devs said so". You probably watch Fox news too.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1077854#Comment_1077854

Nobody has to disprove your point before you've proven it yourself. There's next to zero chance you face swf squads 90% of the time.

I am not saying a full 4 man SWF group, I am talking about in some way 2 or 3 man SWF groups. Devs already said in a blanket statement that SWF only accounts for a small percentage of games played. Yet every single game I play as killer there is at least a 2 man group, every single game.

I can almost guarantee you other killers experience the same daily. I rarely get a 4 man solo group if at all. So me saying that the stats are a lie are just that. The devs just do not want to post actual stats because of how imbalanced the state of the game is.

  • Disprove my point then. Those "actual" stats are unbelievable by a majority of the community. You are agreeing that only a very small percentage of games are SWF and every other lobby is filled with 4 solo survivors?

  • They wont add that because it will disprove their lie that only a small percentage of games have SWF in them. I find that almost 90% of my games have swf.

I run killer just fine, never rank one by any stretch but not terrible. And I still get 4ks. They are absolutely crutches, just as much as self care. The fact that you cant or won't see that is not really my problem

I meant as in when playing survivor you don't know how to loop a killer. Also not reaching red ranks does really make your argument weak. You are playing against much less skilled people, obviously getting 4k's is incredibly easy purple and below.

  • @brocktree said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/906336#Comment_906336

Except i never run crutch bbq or crutch ruin and still manage 4ks

    doubt.png

Also the fact that you call both of those perks "Crutches" leads me to believe that you can't run a killer, and you are one of those survivors that won't touch a gen until Ruin is destroyed. Nice try though.

  • @CrowFoxy said:

Yeah. Exactly this. Me and my swf have deactivated at least 10 Noed in the last month.

The perk is so damn ez to counter I've had randoms do it. People can't call it unhealthy or even good to be honest. It's your fault killer has it on, you focused gens.

The problem is solo survivors don't have a way of knowing how many totems have been destroyed outside of what they have done themselves. Easy mode SWF shouldn't even be brought up because that is irrelevant to the perk because that perk was designed with solo survivors in mind.

  • The issue is that they tank into account all ranks in SWF, SWF in red ranks is the issue, not brown - purple. I feel like they don't want to release red rank 4 man SWF stats because of how incredibly lopsided it is.

  • Honestly I think they don't want to release certain information, such as red rank 4 man SWF escape rate. They say SWF is only a 7% increased escape chance, but they are including every rank and all platforms I'm sure, so that dilutes the percentage.

  • I get to red ranks as solo survivor every reset and honestly I rarely go against camping killers in red ranks. Majority of camping killers I find are while I'm going through green and purple.

I do agree though that if all 4 survivors are solo it is very hard to deal with a camping killer unless the hooked survivor has Kindred. I don't find it hard to pip at all as survivor though so I don't know what you are talking about with that. Doing a gen and a half, unhooking a survivor or two, and running the killer a bit is usually a pip, even if I get killed.

  • @Peanits said:

There are a number of factors. This is why we suggested you don't draw any conclusions based on the stats; it's just an average. It doesn't mean that you don't get a team so sweaty you'd think they've been working out for the past six hours, it just means that on average you'll get about two kills against a 4-man group.

Can you please give us the escape rate of 4 man SWF in red ranks. Everyone knows that the Brown - Purple ranks aren't the issue, its red ranks that are the problem.

  • The only survivor I tend to make sure I always kill are Claudettes, due to most of them hiding the entire game and expecting to escape. A lot of Steve mains are buttholes though so I can see why certain killers hate them.

  • @Mercie78 said:

So, just the fact that I logged into the forums and MADE an account says something about my frustration and this game. I am an adult women with a full time job and a million children and all I want to do is come home and log in and kill people. I have been playing dByd since the summer BBQ. A long time!

Ever since this game went free, match making has been trash. Behavior, you knew you were going to get new players. Thousands. That went on as has persisted for at least 2 years. 2 YEARS!! Then, we have the "we will have our own servers". Delayed, delayed....did it even happen?? Matching making is still TRASH!

The ration of rage quit into the purple and red games has become herpes. I repair a gen with a new part and the killer rage quits. I lose my part and the game. There needs to be a serious detriment system for the players acting like 9 year olds, including the 9 year olds! Stop punishing survivors for people quitting, especially when its killers! The system you have is not mean enough! Lock their join session for 5 minutes. DO SOMETHING!! This game knows when its a ######### connection versus someone straight dropping a game. Fix IT with heavy penalties PLEASE! I literally had one night where we had a quitter in some form for like an hour EVERY game. WHAT THE F*??

I don't care if I get matched up with all colors. Just get me a GD game!

Rereading this post for errors makes me realize that I continue to play a game that is broken and I must be loosing my GD mind! Why do I keep going back to a game that is so broken?? Its seriously madness. MADNESS!

Have you tried repairing a generator without a BNP?

  • @Almo said:

What usually happens with SWF is that they get super-altruistic and refuse to leave the match unless they can get everyone out. Only at very high ranks and with SWFs that play together a lot is there much of a benefit in terms of escape rate.

That does not mean we don't want to do some things to make the solo experience better. As someone else pointed out, that's the reason for the Kindred buff.

Perhaps escape rate isn't the right metric, as SWFs can be more annoying to play against even if they don't necessarily escape.

This is the main problem though, red rank SWF groups are literally almost impossible to win against as killer. Brown - Purple aren't the issue.

I was just explaining why I stand up for myself so much.

I don't hide all game, I do generators and unhooks.

I don't die THAT much, I'm just sick of bad games ending in a slug and a hunt.

And most of the games that end in this scenario, I'm solo-queueing.

Yeah solo is rough, that's how I play survivor as well. I don't care how the game ends as long as the killer didn't camp or tunnel. Moris I don't care about because you can still pip as a survivor and get morid.

My point being that until BHVR fixes the point and pipping system for killers in red rank we have to slug to even hope at pipping. Even getting 3k is usually a safety pip. Yet a survivor can do a gen and a half, unhook a survivor, get into a chase with the killer once that more than likely pip even if they die.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/858840#Comment_858840

Game is balanced on a 2/2 scenario. That's what the devs call a win. And I'm not saying that aiming for a 4k is unhealthy, it's the way some people go about it.

You get 2/2 in red ranks that's a depip.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

So, defending myself and my position is whiny and entitled? Got it. I'll just go back to being a bully victim. Before you even ask, I was bullied in primary school all the way because kids are cruel, stupid and I had a mole on my face that was obvious, so I was apparently diseased. I eventually learnt to stand up for myself, but it seems that I do so very strongly and passionately.

And I fluctuate between periods of survivor and killer. At the moment, especially with Archives, I'm back to Survivor. It's that I play my killers seemingly as intended, then I get insta-sawed, camped, tunnelled, and my teammates get slugged after I have a wicked stealth game, that I tend to get annoyed with the Killer community at large.

As for the game, it was the other guy who got slugged. Again. It's always the other guy on the floor. It's not the first time, but I'm still sick of it happening.

What does you being bullied in school have anything to do with this thread other than look for sympathy?

I'll tell you this, I usually will go out if my way to kill Claudettes because of the fact that they hide all game and most are afraid to actually play the game other than M1 generators.

If you are dying as much as you say maybe you aren't that good of a survivor as you thought.

I agree that tunneling and camping are boring, no one likes that. However don't act like survivors have it hard while SWF exists.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

I'm purple and my build is Self Care, Spine Chill, Sprint Burst and Bond. Also, I didn't ever say that ALL killers use it. It's bit of a generalisation yes, but they still occur.

And crappy survivor? I'm that one Claudette who actually does stuff. I only keep playing Claudette because I don't have those perks on anyone else, not to mention Claudette's natural stealth ability. I can't run good chase killers, but I can hold my own.

Mhmm, say what you like but the way you come off is very whiny and entitled. I doubt you are a killer main, you come off very survivor sounding, which is fine. However everything you are crying about is ridiculous. Your post comes off as a rant after getting trashed in a game by a killer that left you slugged to keep the other survivor from getting hatch and that irked you.

You also talk about potato teammates, you realize every survivor thinks that about each other, and I bet they think that about you as well.

  • What is sounds like to me is that you are very crappy survivor OP and probably main Claudette like your name implies and expect to just urban evasion around the entire map without interacting with the killer the entire game.

I will always slug for the last kill because more than likely they are in SWF anyways just waiting for hatch. You mentioned if killers stopped playing with "cheap tactics and earn their kills", we did, its not our fault Behavior wanted to add in a free escape for survivors who got destroyed.

Also you legit must be in brown - green ranks with your mentality.

  • "I don't like my ruin getting broken in the first 5 minutes of the game." Please tell me where he's getting his ruin placements, I'd LOVE to have my ruins last 5 minutes.

  • @caz_ said:

with the upcomming patch/update they will now destroy one more perk = Balance landing.

a perk what wasnt OP at all, the only reason would be the haddonsfile map where you can abuse the infintes.

so because some swf groups bullied some killer with picking a offering and running to this house all the time they decided to destroy BL?

so the devs pretty much punish me and other solos because of these swf groups? tbh what is the point of playing solo anymore if all useful perks get nerfed all the time?

why would i make my life harder with these randoms who DC, cant do gens or loop? every killer main was complaining about how strong swf is, but it really seems like the devs want solos to force finding a group a play with them. instead of reworking the map you just destroy this perk i dont get it.

i suppose now after 2 years of playing i need to find a swf group to play with, to have fun in this game?

Belive me if the devs keep nerfing useful survivor perks every single solo player like me will find a swf group to have fun.

it seems like SWF is the only thing the devs will never touch/nerf or do anything about it, so thats my safezone now right?

im so dissapointed devs really, you do one good thing and then it follows with 3 bad things. Thanks devs!

"why would i make my life harder with these randoms who DC, cant do gens or loop?" Says every solo survivor about every other survivor including you.

  • You don't need to run around wasting time looking for ruin, just do the generator through it. Find it as you move around the map, you waste so much time by not doing anything.

At high level play killers will have ruin up the entire game and survivors still pump them out incredibly fast.

BBQ is very easy to counter as SteelDragon said.

Sometimes if you queue up with just one other friend, you will get loaded up with another duo at the same time. The game just finds people and throws them into a killer lobby all at once. Last night I had to wait for almost an hour for a match because the killer kept dodging thinking we were a 4 man SWF...it was really annoying because I didn't have much time before I had to go to sleep for work the next day...

Is this a real question? Are you honestly saying that people playing with each others in coms are not communicating at all about the game? Also I'm not talking about brown - purple ranks, this is red ranks where its an issue, and yes every single swf red rank is going to try to win.
