Let me outline the match for those who think I did nothing.
I got 3 gens done, 1 by myself and 2 co-op.
I unhooked 3 people, and healed 2 of them
the killer didn't want to chase me after the unhook, which was unfortunate for the unhooked person. 3 out of 4 of us escaped at the end.
I did actually pallet stun the killer but again, they didn't want me for some reason
You probably did not perform safe hook rescues, meaning that you unhooked someone but they got injured again within 30 seconds of unhooking which actually counts massively against you. Just healing teammates won't give you much altruism points, and doing a solo gen is honestly not that many points as well. If you did the other two generators co-op from start to finish that is a massive amount of points but by the sounds of it you probably just came in towards the end of it.
Overall in a game to pip you want to get chased by the killer and escape, you want to safely unhook a player then heal them if you can, and work on a couple of generators.
I always hate it when a survivor comes to unhook me then ditches me as the killer comes right back. At that point you are just farming your teammates. If you are unhooking like that at least take a hit for them or lead the killer away.

I recently got the Spine Chill perk which has helped me tremendously at predicting when and where the killer is coming from but once I get sighted it's all downhill from there and it's almost impossible to break sight.
I've stopped queuing as killer though because I just can't stand the long wait times. Half of the hours I have on the game are me just waiting for games (and then waiting in lobbies because people keep leaving).
That all comes with experience. Once you are able to run a killer more comfortably, that is when you will really begin to unlock what you can do as a survivor. Don't rely on spine chill until the killer is right up on you, as soon as you know they are looking in your direction start walking away around a corner and just pay attention to the direction the killer is facing and mirror them.
Looping is your best friend as a survivor, and learning tiles is very important, what pallets are safe to run around, which ones aren't, which windows can be abused for a loop, which cant etc.
Another mistake I see new players make is that they have no plan once a killer does show up. If you start working on a generator look around you first, and based off the perks you have equipped, create a plan in your head for where you will go if the killer chases. For example if you have Lithe, you know that you want to be near a window vault for the quick speed boost you will get, so make sure that there is one close by you can run to once the killer appears.
Also you don't always need to sprint, remember that sprinting leaves scratch marks, walking, even when the killer is nearby can be safer. Keep in mind that the killer doesn't have the camera view you do, they are locked into a 1st person PoV, so abuse that knowledge.
-
A very big problem for new players is that if you queue up as a new killer lets say, you will have incredibly long queues because it is trying to find you a game with survivors at your rank, yet almost every person who is new at this game and plays survivor will probably be playing with a friend that is more experienced and higher ranked, meaning that they will end up playing against more experienced killers.
The opposite is I've found a majority of new players to this game tend to immediately play survivor over killer, so there will be very few actual rank 20 killers. If you do come across a rank 20 killer it is probably a player who just hasn't played in a couple of months and their rank reset back down but they still have plenty of experience and perks.
Coming into this game as a brand new solo player is going to be rough at the start, it will be unfair for a lot of games. But eventually you will get better as you unlock more perks and just understand how to play the game, and understand maps better.

To be honest, that makes sense since i myself only play survivor if i am playing with friends, and they are all purple-13 1 of them started with me and she is 19, and i am 16 on survivor but yeah.
As for platform i place on PC, idk if it maters but in Europe as well
i still feel like above 35 min queue for a new player is not okay, i rather get matched vs harder oponents and have a harder time than wait, after 10 min just throw me with anyone, ihave faced off against a lvl 4 survivor who flexed om me, as my 3rd time myers and they won super fast, but i told them i had to wait 31 min for the queue and they told me "yeah ur just salty cuz ur bad" and but danced.... he also didnt believe me that my queue was long, and i told him i can clip it off my stream and send it to him, but they left. or didnt respond,
I really wanna like this game but this ######### is hard to deal with, soon as i get hag leveled up for the Ruin, i will be on a rampage, already got BBQ and chilli, and i have had loads of time trying to be a non-campy killer, but survivors make me not like the game
either way, from making this post, my queue timers are still long, i can make a clip where some are like 12 min, which is better than before, but i literally still sat in 30 min queues still...
I can understand if i was a "grand master" in league of legends or higher or in any other game because that would make sense, but in this game i have barely 60 hours on, over 40 of those hours are in queue
Surprisingly for the last couple of days my killer queues in purple and red ranks have been fairly quick, I would say less than 5 minutes, however my survivor purple and red rank solo queues have been 10+.
As mentioned before your queue times should lessen as you improve in rank, but until then it sounds like you are just really unlucky in either the time you are playing the game or the region you are in.

Well yeah, it was meant to be a harsh lesson. I'm definitely an a-hole and it's not like I'm their friend or anything.
So you are just an ######### to anyone who isn't your friend? You must be super entitled in real life based off that attitude.
-
What I don't get is your condescending attitude. "Did you learn your lesson?" Like #########. Just play the game dude, you are literally coming off as an #########.
-
The problem is that Slenderman is such a meme of a killer that only little kids who are 12 and read creepy pastas are afraid of. He has become a living meme.

Lol. I rarely tunnel and I never camp. ..Ok, I camp if its my first kill & near EDC.
But the problem with trying to push punishments on Killers because you don't like a playstyle? That kind of thinking is ALSO what fuels Survivors to acts like complete knobs in end game chat.
'Ohhh! Scrub Killer had to camp!'
Or people who DC 'I did not actually die! The Killer was being a noob and camping me!'
I'm not saying people SHOULD camp. Hell, did you read my post where I break down why camping sucks? I'm just pointing out that people who demand punishments are in a toxic mindset, or not thinking about real balance, or don't realize that it has been tried & Survivors abused the hell out of it for free unhooks.
When you get down to it, I'm not arguing FOR camping. I'm arguing AGAINST easily-abuseable punishments and half-baked ideas shot out in a moment of rage. Most people who make up a 'Killer need to be punished!' thread are thinking about why THEY 'should not have died' rather than how it would screw over Killers or be abused.
And am I a bit hostile about it? Sure, but I've seen tons of people give reasons why it would not work, ending with the ever important 'It was tried. It was abused. It was removed.' and they get called 'Killer mains' as if that invalidates their arguments.
So I'm trying more harsh language and seeing if it sticks, for once.
I agree with you 100% on a lot of things. Survivors will complain if you camp their friend when they are a full SWF yet they are gen rushing. However if you let them off the hook and they all escape they will gg ez and teabag you.
I guess at the end of the day those toxic players will be toxic no matter how you play. Not saying you are, but I have noticed that a lot of new killers think they are going against a full 4 man SWF when in reality they are not, so they might play extra try hard or sweaty every single game after that.
Solo survivors going against an upset killer because the last group gen rushed or tea bagged etc, are going to have zero fun if the killer plays like a dick. The strategies against camping and tunneling aren't going to be readily available for solo players due to lack of information that SWF players will have.
So in the eyes of solo survivors who get out of a game where all that happened was, "i died on first hook", "killer tunneled only me", "the killer slugged all 4 people right off the bat", they will come out having just a bad mindset towards these actions and start associating them with every killer and thus the vicious cycle we have continues.
-
Yeah I didn't think to ask, what platform are you on because that can make a difference. Today since Bloodhunt has ended my queues in purple are pretty much the same, around 5-10 at most.
Something to take into consideration is that if a group of low level survivors which would normally be paired against you, queue up with a friend that is in green - red ranks, the game will match those low level survivors with their SWF friends rank killers. So ultimately it leaves you looking for a group longer which is unfortunate.
In reality a lot of new players to the game don't solo queue, they usually have a friend carry them and explain the game to them to get them started. That could be why its taking a long time to find games in your rank, there are very few actual solo survivors playing.
The queue times do get better though, especially green - purple. Red rank is the only time you can find long queues depending on time of day.

..You do realize one of the things camping accomplished before SWF was making someone come check? Like, that was literally the point before SWF came along and completely skewed the game? That's also why hook dancing was invented. If they wriggle, it means the Killer's near.
So tell me more how actual mechanics of the game with actual counters are unfair because Survivors are too lazy to learn them.
Tell me more how I'm being whiny while you and other Survivors are asking to be spoon-fed free unhooks and Killer punishments because you don't like a legitimate play style that already punishes itself.
Everyone who whines about camping is a lazy, bad player who just wants the game to hold their hand when they make bad plays or get salty.
What a joke.
I am very much a killer main. I know camping, tunneling and slugging have their time and place. Even I however know no one likes playing against that, so you trying to argue against 90% of every games player base isn't going to go over well.
At the end of the day you can play however you want, and you will. But don't pretend that you are more skilled or better if you have to rely on camping and tunneling every single game to get your kills because the "idiot" survivors weren't skilled enough to get the unhook in your face.
You really come off as not that skilled and new to the game, so you try to belittle and make excuses for anytime you don't get a 4k. "It was an SWF, they were Gen Rushing me."

Ok, let me put it another way.
A killer has to hook 4 people, who can each have 4 second chance perks apiece. It can take, in the current genrush meta, 1-3 generators to down & hook one person.
So how fair to the Killer is it if the Survivor gets a free unhooking, just because the game decided he was camping?
I mean, 2 Survivors could be clearly visible, teabagging outside his terror radius, forcing the Killer to either camp (and give the Survivor a free unhook) or chase the Survivor & let his friend unhook.
Or does Killer fun not matter? The Devs already tried a camping punishment and that situation I just listed? That happened. Survivors abused the hell out of it.
All you want is more second chances for Survivors because you don't actually care about game balance. You want a mechanic you can abuse to make the game easier for you.
So you're not only done here, you're also completely wrong. So feel free to stomp away and pretend like you won the discussion. It's like disconnecting, but on the forums.
Bro you have some extreme ego problems that based off the way you write just reeks of "I need to be better than everyone."
They aren't incorrect, you are over dramatizing everything you say, taking things to extremes. Not every game you play you will be genrushed by a 4 man SWF pro squad. The excuse of "If a killer is camping just do gens." That only works if you are on coms with an SWF. How are solo players supposed to know that you are camping without running out there and checking first.
Based off every post you make, you literally sound like a whiny baby that is zero fun to play with. Just because you want to play in such a toxic way doesn't mean that others do.
Also before you rant about how I'm a survivor main or I only care about survivor fun, I can tell you right now no one is having any fun in your games.
-
my killer queues are 5 minutes in purple- red ranks, i highly doubt you are spending 20-35 minutes in brown ranks in queue where there is much more of a player base than higher ranks.
-
But you are right, you can play however you want, tunnel, camp, slug etc. However just expect to get a lot of hate towards yourself if you do. It's not an "us" vs "them" thing, its a, no one likes to play like that in any game that has ever existed thing.

Waiting in queue for so long?
Ok, how about being a Killer and waiting 11+ minutes for a queue, logging in, and having 3 gens pop in the first chase?
Oh, but that's fine, because it's Killer. No one cares about the Killer's fun.
I'm not going out of my way to be a dick. I'M PLAYING THE GAME EFFICIENTLY, the EXACT same as genrush Survivors. I don't HAVE to let Survivors walk away. I don't HAVE to ignore the wounded Survivor because 'boo-hoo, Killer mean!' and it's a god damned JOKE that Survivors keep thinking it's fine to genrush as Survivor, but mean to tunnel as Killer.
There's a reason I call 'Tunneling' 'Survivor-Rush'; it's to make people realize THEY ARE THE SAME THING.
Genrush = Doing gens as quickly and efficiently as possible. Ending the match quick for the poor Killer who waited 11 minutes to get into one.
Tunneling (Survivor-Rushing) = Killing Survivors as quickly and efficiently as possible. ending the match quick for the poor Survivor.
Do people freaking GET IT now!? If tunneling is unfair, so is genrushing.
Of course, no Survivor will EVER agree, because they want matches to end FASTER. They whine about NoED & 'doing bones takes time!' while also whining that 'Tunneling (Literally the killer equivalent to a genrush) is unfaiiiir! Punish theeeemmmm! Whaaaaa!'
First off before you have to take your blood pressure medication I never said anything about gen rushing. This topic is about tunneling, YOU are bringing up gen rushing, YOU are assuming everyone is a survivor main.
I play 80% killer, 20% survivor. Outside of highly coordinated SWF 4 man groups "Gen Rushing" doesn't happen. Unless YOU as the killer do not apply any pressure on the map and cannot find anyone.
It really sounds to me like you are very new at the game, and have to make up excuses as to why you have to play the way you do to get kills. When in reality its probably because you dont have the right perks, or are playing inefficiently.

I don't actually tunnel that much, unless they are healing under the hook. That is THEIR FAULT and I don't have to let the people get away. But of course, if Survivors don't get to escape and heal for free, it's tunneling.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/804836#Comment_804836
Nono. TUNNELING is 'Survivor-rushing' since it's the Genrush equivalent for killers; It's doing your objective as fast as possible, which means attacking the wounded person.
And again; so many Survivors stomp onto the forums 'I was clearing my 3rd gen in 20 seconds and the Killer hooked me and tunneled me! It's SO UNFAIR that the Killer can play efficiently! They should be punished for not ignoring the wounded Survivor! I deserve free healing after an unhook!'
The difference is you are literally going out of your way to be a dick to a player and basically tell them after waiting in queue for so long you dont get to play the game.
You don't have a reason to tunnel other than you are upset and think you are "teaching" them a lesson.
-

You're wounded AND you've already been hooked once. You're the easier prey. You're the quicker kill.
This is literally what a Killer's goal is; TO KILL.
If genrushing is fine, then Survivor-Rushing (Tunneling) is fine. It's the Killer's objective. People need to stop complaining that the Killer is being efficient.
You must get a lot of DC's in your killer games.
-
As a killer I've had mostly decent games, there have been a few where survivors DC to deny me a hook, they have usually been part of an SWF though.
Survivor I've run into way more issues. People literally not letting you heal them due to them trying to run to their SWF to give them the heal etc.
One game I rescued a Tapp off of hook and wanted to heal him with my 100% increased healing and you started running away on purpose not letting me heal him, and what do you know, he ran right into the killer and went down again.
SWF survivors have really turned the event on survivor side very frustrating.
-
If you repair jack-o-lantern gens, or hook survivors and jack-o-lantern hooks you acquire way more blood points, and you can stack even more with the offering. If all 5 people bring an offering you can get a ton of BP even if you dont escape or 4k.
-
The cost of having the communication perk.
-
20 minute wait just to get in a lobby against a 4 man SWF.
-
Okay.
-
Honestly theres been games I've stopped running ruin entirely. Try Thanataphobia, Sloppy Butcher, PoPGTW. Honestly Thana + Butcher is such a good slow down combo.
-
Dedicated servers have been completely fine for me and have no effect on how fast your ruin gets cleansed.
-
Her 4head is the costume.
-
You do get points if the killer quits. Everything you did up to that point counts towards you. I think the only thing that doesn't carry over are Rift Challenges. For example if you need to cleanse 8 totems and you do 4 in a game and the killer DC's you wont get credit for those 4 you cleansed.
But you will still get all points you got up until the point of DC in terms of blood points.
-
I find these are the only skill checks I miss, cause I get distracted by the hooking, then in the loud noise of the hooking a silent skill check appears.

This statement highlights the real problem though.
What is a competent Nurse player doing at brown-purple rank against lesser skilled opponents?
The real problem might not be the Nurse per se, but the issue of skilled players versus lower skilled players which means the ranking system is the issue, not the killer's power level.
I get what you are saying and I agree. However what I meant is someone with just a basic understanding of how nurses blinks work and can perform decently as a killer in brown - green ranks will almost always 4k every game due to the strength of Nurse.
Of course there are people who purposely de-rank to smash new players for their youtube highlight reels.

Also, I don't DC (unless someone is hacking) and I know I'm not a god or anything. Just do it for fun.
I get people can, and I'm sure you can too. I'm just basing my statements off of almost every no mither player I've come across. Hell ive seen survivors legit DC cause they have no mither teammates.

No I didn't ignore, I just honestly think survivors who run no mither are the potatoes. Especially outside SWF.

I didn't die immediately though. I did the only two gens and looped him for a good bit before getting hit through a pallet. But I suppose latency/lag is my fault too right?
No latency and lag aren't your fault but I doubt thats why you got downed. My frustration with no mither players are most think they are gods gift to this game, yet when they get downed they insta DC.
You are literally putting your entire team at a disadvantage unless you are full SWF.
-
The killer ones are phenomenally easier than the survivors ones lmao. The survivor ones literally cannot be completed outside a full 4 man SWF.
-
I agree that Nurse was incredibly strong and viable in red ranks but with that same fact how do you think she performs below red rank. Brown - Purple any competent Nurse is almost 100% 4k.
Same with spirit to and extent. Obviously I'm not talking about new Nurses or Spirits, but players with actually some time on them and know how they work.

They’ve mentioned that they can filter dcs out.
But are they counting the DC's as kills or not, because even filtered out there is statistically less survivors for nurse and spirit to kill than the other killers.
-
Numbers get skewed because when they look at killer kill % they haven't mentioned if DC are included in that.
Freddy might have the highest kill rate but to be honest it is probably because less players disconnect against him, thus giving him more people to kill. Thats also why you see other really low tier killers having a higher kill rate than Nurse and Spirit.
More survivors are willing to play and even lose against killers they deem "fair".
-
I love it when teammates think they are skilled enough to run No Mither than die immediately.

Yeah it's not like the killer has any insta-downing perks or power or even decreased gen speed perks. The only killers who believe that survivors are too OP are the killers who want easy wins.
And the only survivors who like SWF are the ones who want easy wins. You cannot in your right mind say that SWF coms do not give a significant advantage over a killer.
Don't say "we're just playing for fun bro" when two people are bringing toolboxes with speed attachments, 2 health packs with instas, DS, Borrowed, MoM, Ubreakable, etc.
Even the SWF's that are just a group of buddies playing for fun have the perk of communication which is massive in terms of swinging the game in survivors favor. "oh hey i spawned by hex totem but im being chased, its on the window side of killer shack."
-
If you spend too much time hiding, too afraid to do gens or totems, too afraid to get into a chase or rescue people off of hook thats why.
Anytime I get paired with anyone brown - green ranks this is what i see. I can loop the killer for 3 minutes and not 1 gen gets done cause everyone is too afraid to do anything. If ruin is up, no one will touch gens cause they are too scared.
Overall just play and dont be scared.
-
Not Approved: Spirit, Nurse, Iridescent Head Huntress, Billy with insta saw
Approved: All other killers as long as they dont camp / tunnel / slug
-
Yeah I am only really seeing things like this as a solo survivor, its really weird.

I think the one you're talking about is Tru3Ta1ent, he's been having a lot of games where people keep escaping with Keys.
Yeah i think it was True, but that sounded like an excellent idea because then it turns into an actual 1v1 of skill and not just hide till hatch.
-
@HatCreature said:
How about instead of creating a strategy to counter this problem, BHVR just TAKES OUT THE PROBLEM.
The only reason Killers 4k is for
1---The Objective is to Kill
2---The Emblem system tells Killers they lost because the 4th escaped
3---The Hatch gives the 4th Survivor a FREE ESCAPE without giving the Killer a final chance to find and hunt them down, just BLIP...gone. All because they were hiding in a random corner because the odds were stacked against them and that's 100% OK, what else are they supposed to do?
If BHVR switches the Hatch for a new End Game scenario for a 1 on 1 then slugging for the 4th has no reason to exist.
If BHVR can tweak the Emblem system to not actually care about killing all 4, like it does right now, then killing all 4 won't matter. If the Emblem and Ranking system just focuses on killing 3 instead of 4 then they won't get punished when 1 Survivor escapes as they are not factored into the points system.
BHVR gives Killers a reason to slug for the 4th and only they can solve this issue
Honestly this is the best solution. Several high level streamers, both survivor and killer have already mentioned this and have come up with interesting solutions.
Hatch standoff needs to end in order to end slugging. One streamer (I can't recall who) mentioned when it comes down to last survivor and killer, instead of hatch, a timer appears on screen for a minute where the survivor needs to live. Once the minute is up the exit gates automatically open. But every few seconds the killer sees your aura so you are unable to hide for the entire minute. You would need to actually play and evade the killer.
-
Basically all I'm saying is, a loss doesn't mean "Oh well they were a pro 4 man coordinated SWF"
-

I don't even have any real answers for this guy as I'm a new player myself. But man you all make it sound so easy. I'm rank 12 killer right now facing 4 man swf 9 out of 10 times and have tried everything you all have said and literally none of it seems to work.
Thats the thing, a lot of killers think they are going against a coordinated 4 man swf when most of the time they aren't. More than likely you are going against either 2 groups of SWF or just skilled survivors who de-ranked or are playing after rank reset.
Also even if they are a 4 man at low rank they are much easier to deal with than the 4 man SWF that many new killers have seen watching youtube videos.
-
To be honest I see way less GG's from survivor side than killer. If killer crushes or not, unless the survivors bullied the entire game I will say 60% of the time the killer will at least say GG.
Survivors on the other hand, usually won't say anything if they die, (like you said it could be because they left). You see this a lot with a 4 man SWF, every game they escape GG, every game they lose silence.

That's what I would do. Take it or leave it.
Yeah and I'm suggesting leave it. All that will do is have survivors disconnect more frequently on him, teach him scumbag tactics at a rank he does not need to be using them in.
Not every group you go against is a try hard 4 man swf even if you think so. Like I said earlier, camping, tunneling and slugging have their time and place, but not every game and not immediately from the start. Especially in Brown - Green ranks.
If you are in red ranks, and you KNOW you have gone against this set of survivors before, and you KNOW they will sweat and try hard and be super altruistic then yeah, go full on sweat and try hard yourself, you will have to.
