So you're the guy who doesn't give the rest of their team a chance to get gens done and leave to teach the killer who is camping you a lesson?
Man.

Yeah if I disconnect because of a bad map or game crashes while loading great I might as well not play for a day or two while it regresses lol. Having it be X% per match played seems better for everyone (and in return the penalties could be harsher since it IS repeat disconnects you wanted to punish anyway)
As it is now you crash once or twice a day and suddenly you're waiting an hour lol
If you crash/DC while loading, there are no penalties.

Do the bones and it does nothing. You even get 1k BP apiece for your troubles, 1500 if the dull lights up as you cleanse it.
Apparently that's too much effort for a lot of survivors.
-
It's less used than DS and BT.
So no.
-
Survivors make slugging/tunneling/camping necessary.
Also - the game is actually originally designed for camping to be the intended play style. The original in-game "how-to" video tutorials showed camping as the optimal way.
Saying any of those things are BM would be like me saying running away from a killer is BM.

That was a joke. That should have been obvious. Lighten up.
Meanwhile your line about “some people consider DS balanced” was clearly aimed at me since you drop it in everytime. So yes it was aimed at someone specific.
But yeah fine. I’ll climb out and just ignore you then.
Ahhh yes. When you bait, it's a joke. Noted.
It was aimed at everyone who has said DS is balanced (newsflash - you're not the only one). Don't flatter yourself, man. Not everything is about you.
Have a good day.

It would be too abusable if there would be a difference between leave game and pull the plug, the devs even stated that in the recent dev stream. And everyone knows that the most players try to abuse everything in this game.
This.
As many have said before, it's a necessary evil.

You've obviously been reading the thread, stop pretending to be innocent after trying to rile up other people.
Go back and read my post on the other page where I make it clear which kind of slugging is being referred to here.
I read the thread, sure. That's why I didn't reference anyone specific. There's a lot of these complaints all of a sudden and I find it funny that it's so "all of a sudden". Is that a crime? To find the irony in something humorous?
Dude, you need to stop targeting me for having a valid, opposing opinion. Talking down to me constantly, calling me a troll and a liar, overall just belittling me. :/
But if you insist on talking about baiting people or trying to rile people up...
From a different thread, that I hadn't even posted a message in. Yeah, you don't get to talk about harassment, bait, and riling people up. Now climb down out of my rectal cavity.

Don't lie and try to twist things.
It has already been explained the difference between slugging, and slugging with the intention of leaving players to bleed out. You're really trolling today.
What do you mean lying?
Calling me a liar and a troll? What did I lie about and how am I trolling? Bro, stop harassing me already. My god, always up on my jock, calling me names etc. So much belittling. Chill, my dude.
It's almost like I'm not allowed to have an opposing opinion without it being considered trolling.

FunGoose played plague and won 116 games in a row like that but plagues not really viable
If there's a build that can do that well, then yes, they are viable. Are they viable for you? Perhaps not. Viability is subjective. Builds exist for every killer that can get the job done. It's up to you if they suit your playstyle.
-
You know what's funny? Some people in this very thread have made it abundantly clear that decisive strike is a perfectly balanced perk (lol, k) and the counter to it...is slugging. These same people are now saying slugging is somehow toxic, and "baiting a DC".
So much KEK, but not enough W.

it will be unfortunate if they do. I don’t use it, but it is a nice end-game build perk.
Same. I don't use it either, cause it's too much of a risk for a wasted perk slot. I'd rather just run a slug build. At least then my chances of winning are high.

Oni exists. Freddy exists. Nurse exists (though, good Nurse players seldom do). Ghostface exists.

That's kind of how Pig has to play.

i'm complaining that the first dc ban is 5 minutes long ? i was expecting to get punished of course whatever why i would dc, but 5 minutes is pretty damn long for a first penalty ban, and i remember seeing when the first tests came out that the first penalty was 1 minute long (maybe i'm wrong but i thought that one was fair enough)
The idea is to punish people who DC. Obviously, it had an effect, and you likely won't continue to do such silly things.
It did it's job.

And stop crying gosh, did i insult your grandma or what ? i didnt ruin the fun for any-one, that dc was harmless so why crying that much because i clicked that "leaving game" button at the end of the match ?
You created a thread here, complaining that you disconnected and were punished for it. Yet, I'm the one crying.
Seems legit.
😂
I personally don't care if you DC on me as a killer. It doesn't bother me. I was just calling it as I see it. Someone literally complaining about a justified punishment (of literally only 5 minutes); and then turning around and saying someone else is crying.

He's probably crying right now, just like he was in the endgame chat

And this is a flaw within the system. I think 2nd is 5 mins, 3rd and 4th are 15 mins. Then it escalates from there.
If you're planning to play a lot this weekend you're guarenteed to get hit with a bug, server or game issue over the next 2 days so that puts you at 2. Best not to disconnect again or you're looking at 15 minutes. You need to factor game problems into your d/c budget.
That's funny, cause I'm on holiday and have played like 8-10 hours a day (rift grind!) since the DC penalties have been out...not a single crash while in game. I had an infinite loading screen bug, but I can now confirm those don't result in a DC punishment, just like @Peanits said.

DCing is not a play style, nor is it a meme. All you did was steal sacrifice points from the killer.
Don't DC, erase it from your mind as a play style. I really don't give a crap if you were memeing. Just knock it off and you won't be punished.

Ok, this is the last message I will send you, because I feel like you are A. Trolling B. maybe not comprehending.
How this game handles killer/survivor interactions may not be something you are used to. You can cause lag on your end as a killer and still get hits that are not visible on the survivor side, just as the survivor can cause lag and cause the same thing to happen on killer side (survivors can run in place but not take hits, teleport through walls/have erratic movement patterns, etc) while everyone else is in a perfect state. This is not server desync.
Trolling because I know how dedicated servers operate.
Noted.
lol
What you are talking about is desync. Desync and lag switching are *two completely different things*. What you can't do as killer is turn on *your own* lag switch, and have that effect another players synchronization with the server. That is just not how it works.
Keep on keeping on.
-
@geishroy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1093700#Comment_1093700
This is actually untrue, there are still plenty of instances and clips already on the internet of killers again causing lag, getting hits or even teleporting/picking up survivors back to previous positions they were at during a chase. This still happens, maybe less than when we had P2P, but it still exists. I know from personal experience.
That is SERVER desync. That happens. It's an unfortunate byproduct. It was NOT a lag switch. That is the point I'm making here. A lag switch temporarily causes a disconnect between you and what you're connected to. Not you and everyone else in a dedicated server. The player is connected to a dedicated server. Not other players.

Hey Mclightning it happens, it happened to me, you can tell me im wrong all ya want it can't change what happened. I was playing the game and it did happen to me, so hush and go back to class.
It doesn't happen and it didn't happen to you. On dedicated servers, no lag switch, unless it was your own, caused you to teleport anywhere. It could have been a server connection issue or any number of things, but it was not someone else's lag switch. Period.
It's not me who needs to go back to class.
-
@geishroy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1093610#Comment_1093610
Killers can still lag and teleport/get hits when you are miles away from them, intentional or not. I have many clips of it happening to me and swfs.
THAT is possible, yes. But what the OP described is not. The OP claims that a killers lag switch caused HIM, as a SURVIVOR, to teleport to the other side of a pallet.
That's impossible with dedicated servers. Another persons lag switch has zero effect on the connection of another player. Only their own.
@InnCognito said:
People call a generic term of location cheating "lag switching" just like people call tissue paper "kleenex". Nobody just flat-out calls it what it actually is.
I mean we can get all technical with terms like UDP modification, ARP poisoning, packet crafting and get down to the nitty gritty of how it is done. But the fact that there are programs that automate the whole process into neat little programs THAT OTHERS CAN DOWNLOAD is another STORY FOR another day.
--------------------
I really want to drop back down to the argument here of; killers just flat-out spawning in on players and you should consider what I wrote with the whole "capture the flag story" i wrote above. Again nobody likes that and the problem should be addressed. If someone decides to abandon a match because he or she feels that it is unfair. I guess I just dont blame them at this point.
Sure, it is bad that others have to pay for it. We all do and in the realworld this happens all of the time. I personally consider this a "party game" and not a competitive mode. These penalties seem to harsh for a game that doesn't involve a competitive environment and how much there hasn't been solved. Im sure you have noticed that the Q times are going up considerably.
The game is a start-up venture and has a ton of potential. What lead up to many of these dc's has been killer spawns, unfair hits and the fact that the game literally has many other mechanics the developers have to explore.
Players feel as though the basic issues haven't been fixed when there seams to be more cosmetics going out. yes, we want a game company to make money and be able to SELL items so they can pay for the improvements too. That is a fair balance.
But this game feels as though problems that were fixed, became BROKEN in this game's "junior year" compared to its sophomore year of development.
I will end it with this. If you are sitting there telling people that they are intellectually inferior to you and your opinion. That is no way to gain an argument's win. Listening to other people's ideas are. With that I hope you have a great and "magical day" or whatever it is you appreciate in life most.
take care!
I said nothing about anyone being inferior to me. I said I was right, which I am. A lag switch, as the OP described it, is not going to do what he said it did in a dedicated server environment. I don't care what blanket statements are used, or what he really meant. What he said is what he said. You're just making excuses for him.

You must be democrat with that attitude, "no one cheats, It's impossible". You did need correcting welcome to the real world bud, now how about you get off your phone and pay attention to you 10th grade pre-calc class. Have fun in school.
I didn't say nobody cheats. Nice strawman. I said it's *literally impossible* to lag switch in the way you described, because it's not hosted on a P2P matchmaking system anymore.
Welcome to the real world, where you're making yourself look silly, and I'm still right.
@InnCognito said:
You really must not know much on how people cheat and modify latency in the game. If I was to discuss how this is done with "network tools" and "network modification tools" id probably be in trouble. Moobs isn't crazy here. People do this quite often and yes, the staff have even addressed this in discussions that there ARE people whom are doing this. The fact of the matter is. It isn't more publicly addressed because the company doesn't want to give players the idea.
But in short-terms. Yes players are using teleportation cheats with any sort of way they can. To ruin the experience for others.
Teleportation and speed hacks is one thing. Those aren't lag switches. Lag switches *do not* work like he described in a centralized server. A lag switch will NOT work on anyone except the player using it. Speaking of not knowing... :)

And good for you, at least you dont feel like behavior came and cleaned out your wallet. And apparently there is still lag switching going on cause when i have a dedicated line to my computer i don't ever suffer from lag on any other game. I'm mad when the killer is in range as soon as i load into a game, and immediately get hit, and no my ping wasn't bad like the other guy suggested. And also lag switching still happens servers aint doing anything about it, when you only invest 5 dollars into a server ya might as well not have one at all.
You don't spawn in the killers terror radius; and if you immediately get hit, it's because they found you. As for lag switching, no, it doesn't happen. The games take place on centralized dedicated servers. It's literally impossible for a lag switch to have an effect on anyone except for the person using it, and at that point all it would do is time them out. Please inform yourself on how central dedicated servers work.

The Devs have so much more freedom to incorporate lore and tie that lore inylto other characters. They have SO much more flexibility for creativity and balance for an original killer. It is overall healthier for the game as a whole.
Please. Make DBD original again!
I mean, balance and creativity wise they did pretty well with Ghostface and new Freddy. I don't really think licensed characters hold that back in most circumstances.
-
New killer players don't stand a chance. Give them the tools to stand a chance. I had my fiance try killer for the first time. It was her matched against rank 14s. Not terrible, right? She played Wraith, arguably the easiest killer to get the hang of. I even let her watch me play a few games on my PC at red ranks, so she could more or less know what to do. She ended up on Blood Lodge (which negates Wraiths power), got 1 kill, was hit with 3 DS's even after not tunneling anyone off hook, and told me her heart was beating so fast and she felt so stressed that she didn't want to play killer again. She felt like there was nothing she could do because they could just jump through windows and throw pallets forever.
BHVR needs to stop catering to baby survivors, remember that killers exist (albeit, less and less every day), and also remember they killers are required to exist for survivors to even play the game.
-
@Mr_K said:
If survivors are bad and you feel like playing "fair". (Whatever fair means at the time)
Fair is set within the rules of the game. Not the mindset of the player. Everything that isn't bannable is fair.
@ClickyClicky said:
Slugging is fine if you slug the odd survivor. I think survivors mostly hate it when you intend to end the game by slugging. As in all 4 slugged before hook. Being slugged while you chase someone else isn't a big deal.
Slugging is fine always. Even if I slug every survivor and let them bleed out, it's fine. Of course I'd rather have hook points because long-term slugging is boring, but if I did decide to do that, you saying it's not fine has no effect on it actually being fine. You tell killers to apply pressure. Slugging is the ULTIMATE pressure. Saying slugging of any magnitude is not fine is like me saying "looping isn't fine" or "repairing generators isn't fine".
I don't live by the Killer Rulebook written by Survivor Mains.
