I've been seeing multiple hackers a day. If I dc on all of them, RIP the only 5 minutes penalty I guess.

We are not saying it doesn't exist. We are saying it's not worth 2 extra minutes doing nothing every single match for the few times this happens.
Yea, it's not worth it for you. For someone who uses deliverance or gets the 4% is well worth it.

Once again; niche:
- The Killer would have to hook him near the gate. If the gate was opened first; not happening.
- The Survivor would have to be within 1 minute's crawling distance of the gate or hatch, since a Killer could wait out DS. And even walk ahead of a DS Survivor to close the Hatch while they are down.
- Some Killers are good enough in a chase that they could eat DS and just down the Survivor again after. Moreso if only 1 gate is open and/or they closed the hatch, as they know where the Survivor has to go.
Your examples are incredibly uncommon and not worth bringing back 2 minute wait times for killers. This has all been said in this thread before, but you ignored everything to attack ONE point. You're wrong. Your examples are uncommon. It's not coming back.
Just because it's uncommon or niche doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Yeah, but if your system were based on hooks, I would stay there and were able to do it over and over again...
And also if you have Bubba that camps from first gen, what do you think is better result:
give him lower MMR, so he stomps noobs again forever, or give him higher MMR so he eventually gets against survivors, who can handle it?
This has nothing to do with how that player got those kills, he got them and if you lower his MMR it's going to work for him forever.
A facecamping bubba would stop stomping noobs and then just kill veterans instead (you cant save against face camping bubba) and make their MMR get even lower so they can play with noobs instead? No thanks
-
Everyone saying "You cant do anything anyway so might as well die" are full of crap.
He can: Be hooked when the gates are open and the other ones are dead/or left, unhook himself with deliverance and use DS and escape. This is just one simple example of what the survivor can do if they were able to still try to kobe/kobe while being the last one alive and first hook.

So if I managed to slug everyone as Oni with my power, I should lose MMR for it? Even it's not really easy to do, or am I supposed to be forced by system to farm them?
Kill is same for every killer. Doesn't matter how you got it. Unless you want to make specific way of how to calculate MMR for each killer, then you would always have killers that would be punished by your system.
The Bubba that got everyone on deadhook, chosed to do it, or he didn't remember how many times he hooked which survivors, which is not really high skill...
I could say if you were able to slug all 4 survivors at 5 gens, they were probably below average. Is killing below average survivors skillful?
Because I'm pretty sure you dont see that kind of thing happening with better survivors.
-
Yea I've been seeing a lot of new players in my matches as well (just earlier I had a 26 hour meg).
It isn't great at all specially now with a 1.5x BP thing happening soon...

from my own experience with these kind of matches, the newbie gets tunneled out in 2 minutes and the killer wins. The only option you have is to hide the newbie as good as you can and take aggro and hope he is doing gens...
This is my experience as well, that's why I said having a 10 hour survivor on the team is like being in a 3v1.

Hey sure, I have nothing against that.
I think killer's way of getting MMR by kills is best we can get, because that is hard with so many killers and different playstyles.
But MMR was survivors could be improved for sure.
I disagree. A leatherface who facecamps can get a 4k, while a leatherface who doesnt camp can hook everyone twice and not get a single kill. Which one would you consider more skillful?
I think how a killer plays during the match should also matter more than the end result, and hooks should count more than kills.

Their result of SBMM is MMR based only on escape / kill. I think you want too much from them :D
That's one of the issues. SWF will often have more escapes because they play for each other. This is one of the reasons as someone who plays solo, why I dodge obvious SWF in my team, because a lot of times they will just escape and leave the solo behind. Does it mean they were better during the match and more skillful? No, it can mean they played more selfishly. Which again, is one of the reasons I hate that you can be a really good during the match, but if you die and the blendette who did nothing all game escapes, the game sees that claudette as more skillful than you.
The system only counting escapes as skill, just once again boosts SWF players. SBMM should look at everything done during the game, not just at the outcome.
-
@Mandy said:
I think this is always going to be a difficult issue....I do think the average MMR is probably the fairest of all the options available. Other survivors who are not in the group do still have the option to dodge the lobby if they don't wish to play that match.
Hours do correlate to skill to a degree...but in saying that, I don't think the 1000's of hours matter, as that's very person dependent. Some people with 3k hours are still not great at the game and they never will be - we all don't have to be great at everything. Some players with 50hrs are pretty damn good and can beat players with 1000's of hours, their understanding of the game might not be the same, but their actual skill can be comparable. (which is why hours are not a good indicator of skill - someone could have 1k hours in 2021 for example and someone else could have 1k hours since 2016, there's definitely an argument there that the player with the most recently accumulated hours will be more in-touch with what is currently happening in the game, hence we're looking at introducing the "decaying MMR").
I think the best way to go about this is to make it different for solo and SWF players to boost and drop their MMR, giving them different requirements.
People will escape more if they're in a SWF, doesn't mean they're better at the game, it just means they are at an advantage compared to solo players.
Saying someone will never be great at the game even if they play a lot, I dont think is very accurate. I know BHVR has that mentality when it comes to it, since that's why they nerf a lot of perks, because they are too hard for new players (a good example of this being the ruin nerf, since one of the reasons it was nerfed was because new players couldnt hit great skill checks.).

You asked what can be done about it, so I am saying options. If you have better option, then feel free to share...
It's not about playtime, it's about MMR...
It's nice that you have 5k hours, but a friend of that noob could have higher MMR than you.
Playtime has a big thing about it tho, or are you telling me 10 hours is comparable with 5k in terms of skill?
-
I advise them to reduce the grind. And no, 2million BP a month because you reach grade 1 isn't enough, and I hope they don't think it is.

I just told you three options how system can handle it. You didn't like how average option works, so I just gave up an example what would happen if they tried lowest MMR option.
Unless you want to remove SWF completely or limit who can join that group based on MMR / playtime. But this just can't be fixed by SBMM, or any matchmaking system.
Me having a 10 hour team mate, when I have 5k hours and the killer is also in the thousands of hours, isn't an average option.
Again, I never said I want to remove SWF.
-
@Dino7281 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2749956#Comment_2749956
What you could do is take 3 veteran players and play with 1 new player. If matchmaking was by lowest MMR, you would put those 3 survivors against completely new killer, who would get super destroyed. They would either bully him, or just finish gens fast and game would be boring for both sides.
I never said in my post I want veteran survivors to go against new killers. I said I dont want survivors in my team with 10 hours when I have 5k hours and the killer is also above 1k hours.
-
@Dino7281 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2749940#Comment_2749940
You really want to tell me it would be better if matchmaking took lowest MMR from SWF?
I hope not...
Get 3 over 1k survivors as first game would have to feel nice for sure.
Average is just best middle ground. None of those options are really fair, but it's best we can get, unless you want to remove SWF option, which good luck with that.
I never said it would be better. With the trash SBMM we have right now there is no "better" anything really.
I have no idea what you mean by the 3 over 1 sentence.

In other words. New comer gets boosted, veteran gets boosted (since he is better looper then a killer in chases). Everybody is eventually high mmr.
How does veteran gets boosted by being a 3v1?

To be fair, that could still happen even if they had hours. Team based games, man. Your only choice is to play killer and not deal with bad teammates.
yes it can still happen, but at least those people know how to hit skill checks while pressing m1.
-
Yes. I've heard someone say it's when he puts his tentacle up but I'm not sure myself.
-
@Dino7281 said:
What can be done? Well, nothing. Most games have issue how to handle this type of teams.
From what I know dbd just makes it average from SWF MMRs, which is probably best you can get.
You can't go highest they would get most likely destroyed and you can't get lowest, because killer would get destroyed.
So instead of the killer getting destroyed, I get destroyed because I'm in a 3v1. Fair, not.

Like flying, insta healing and whatever else is real, auto dead hard also can be real, but this is a cheat that is impossible to know if the person is cheating or they actually know how to use DH correctly.

Which is, you know, why video games and sport and books and movies and basically all forms of human art have been created. And, for the most part, they're meant to be enjoyed! The more interactive ones will have their periods of frustration, but the end result is meant to be something to feel positive about and enjoy. They're not meant to fall into the same serious morass of worrying about the future and how to fix problems and stress that real life and all its problems bring.
How we experience games is subjective, and when more and more people are having the same sort of feelings towards a game as they would an unpleasant job (or worse), then something is really starting to go wrong with the game or its community.
A video game is very different from a job I'm afraid.
If I quit my job, I become homeless, if I quit dbd, I don't have to deal with something that is making me feel down.

I'll be depressing for a second.
I'm sick. Very sick and nobody knows why. I had to drop out of school because my health declined too much.
As sad as it sounds, this community means a lot to me. I can put my knowledge and my experience to use. I can feel proficient and good at something.
Maybe that's pathetic, but I don't have a lot to feel good about these days.
I don't think it's pathetic.
As someone who is also 99% of my time at home also for health related things, I can relate. I have over 5k hours in this game, so I can also see the perspective of someone who has played a lot.
Games can be addictive, and I understand that sometimes it's not easy to quit, but you shouldn't force yourself to play something that makes you feel the need to get validation from a psychologist on reddit and isn't bringing you any join.
This game is not a job (unless you're a streamer and are making money out of it), if you quit you wont lose income, you can just play something else.
Sure, you'll feel like you wasted a lot of time on it, but to waste even less time, you have to actually stop.

Literally only useful those moments when the killer doesnt have to be in front of the hook to hook you, they just slice there when you're already 99%, otherwise you'd wiggle off anyway

Trapper comes with the game, Legion looks edgier ig and Myers is a horror classic.

As someone who is also LGBT, I can sympathize with people who have been sent death threats, called slurs and more in end game chat. I can also acknowledge that if someone facecamps or tunnels me, they mostly did it because that's what they do, and not because I'm LGBT.
But considering the "evidence" we got posted on here about the Bubbas being "racist", was never really end game chat screenshots, was just them camping and tunneling and people assumed it was because they were a person of color, I guess BHVR does see facecamping as racist if it's towards a person that isn't white.
-
Truth is, they didn't really stop any hate. They just did this to try to look better.
I've also been called slurs in chat a lot of times, i even had a person threatening to dox me for weeks, and even one just last week asking me for my address to come to my house and kill me.
Other people have reported on here that they sent reports to BHVR about finding actual racists in game, and those same racists are still playing.
They only care about harassment if people make a fuss about it on twitter, same goes for the color blind situation, that they only addressed once they were called out. They care about how they look for the outside and for the media, not really about their players experience.
-
People saying you didn't pay for those masks, are actually wrong.
People who bought the DLC, bought it for all the content it provides, and it also provided the masks.

True. And on the other side, no matter how well she throws, she can only get 1 down. A good chainsaw sweep will take down as many survivors as can be reached. So her 1v1 is better, at the risk of having no 1v4 to speak of.
I dont think this change to iri head would change her 1v1 and 1v4 potential at all. And tbf, the only reason bubba has a good 1v4 is if he camps or if the survivors are all together, which they shouldnt be in the first place.

Until SWF, CoH, Dead Hard, Maps and Generators have been looked at no killers should ever be nerfed again under any circumstances.

Not because you have different opinion but because your opinion prove that you play as killer against 100 hours survivors or don't play as killer at all.
Do you have any other arguments besides saying someone is low MMR when you dont agree with them?

If the survivors are high mmr then ruin doesn't last past the 1 minute mark. There is only 2 killers that may get to use it but even then you are lucky if someone doesn't spawn on it.
Just because it doesnt last more than 1 min doesnt mean they dont run it.

You dont know your MMR, so you're just making things up. I have 5,182 hrs on record

It's pretty obvious you don't play killer or at least don't play in mid-high MMR. A perk which can extend a chase for 30 seconds more or even a minute depending on the map and zone and equiped by 4 players so frequently definitely need a nerf.
I'm pretty sure this perk will be nerfed, maybe not in the next patch or even in the next 6 months, bu it will be nerfed eventually as happened with DS.
If you disagree with me you're low mmr.
-
Killers have more power over the "fun" of survivors than they realize.
Sure, a survivor can be annoying, teabag and click their flashlight, but survivors don't have the power to stop killers from playing, killers can still chase them, hit them and down them. A survivor who is being facecamped, is basically doing nothing, same goes for when the killer decides to slug a survivor for 4 minutes for them to bleedout instead of hooking.
-
It used to decrease while running before and it wasn't great. You could just keep chasing the same survivor and they would go down without you even having to hit them.
