I want her changed, but I also want her to still be as strong she is now. Which is a tall order, I admit, but if it's a choice between a straight up nerf that gives her counterplay but makes her the new Pig, or leaving her the same, I'd rather leave her the same.
Not that such a choice even needs to be made, it's so easy just to give her basic tells as evidenced by the breathing bug. The Devs gave her basic counterplay and a genuinely fun addition to her kit completely by accident.
Edit: seriously, Devs, can we please have that bug back? It was so fun trying to trick survivors into vaulting back into me, and a good Spirit could just brute force through it because of basic human reaction time so it really wasn't a nerf anyway.
Edit edit: pretty please?

Cause I'm not wasting 2 perk slots for 1 killer, and fixated has helped me against most killers. 1 perk
Right, you get more value out of Fixated than IRON WILL, the perk that gives all survivors more free distance than any exhaustion perk, and LUCKY BREAK, the perk that literally gives you a free escape.
And this is assuming we live in the world of utter BS in which no Spirits ever use headsets and it's perfectly okay for killers to only be even remotely countered by perks, which is utter BS because a good Spirit doesn't use scratchmarks anyway except to get somewhat close-ish so all of these don't even work.

Oni and nurse? Infectious fright? I don't know I've had some thana sloppy slug matches that only takes one survivor to kill us all against any killer that wants to. Bad survivor plays is the biggest factor in slug matches. If everyone is smart it can be beat but since the matchmaking change and lower ranks, slugging just works.
Nurse and Hag are the only killers I can think of who routinely leave everyone on the ground, even Oni usually has to stop at 2, so a mechanic that lets survivors pick themselves up to punish full-party bleedouts would only effect them, assuming they try to be that level of toxic. Which absolutely happens, especially when they're the kind of person to run Knockout and Third Seal.

Thats the worst idea ive heard in awhile. Imagine advocating for base kit unbreakable...
Please, point out in extrutiating detail where I said anything about basekit Unbreakable. Oh, wait, you can't, because I was very clearly talking about the situations where toxic pricks leave all four survivors to bleed out on the ground, as shown by the statements "when certian conditions are met" and "there's no possible reason a killer can't hook anyone when everyone is down."
Please tell me since when has Unbreakable been so limited in use?
-
If you're bothering pretending a perk is a counter, why not use Iron Will/Lucky Break?
-
Survivors should be able to pick themselves up when certian conditions are met. It's as simple as that. There's no possible reason the killer can't hook anyone once everyone is down, and to be perfectly honest there's only 2 killers that would get nerfed by removing mass slugging and they're both killers that absolutely need it.
-
1) because the survivors somehow allamaged to show they were unpleasant people. Rare, but it happens once every few months.
2) get annoyed.
-
Yeah, it's certainly a map that pleases no-one but Blight and Oni mains.

Technician is THE best perk for new players yet it is tied to DLC survivor they most likely won't buy immediately.
Feng is free on console, which is where the majority of the casual playerbase resides.

Huh?
Doc and Feng are part of the base game now, aren’t they?
They were when I got the game for PS4 when Freddy came out.
Only on console. PC still has to pay for Spark of Madness and Flesh and Mud.
-
This would hurt the diversity of DbD. Right now Bill has the best perks, so everyone would just play Bill, with a side order of Meg, Dwight and Claudette. Or David, depending on how much they buff the Exhaustion perks.
-
The easiest killer in the game isn't necessary the killer you get the most wins with, it's the killer that's the quickest to pick up and play, and on that note it would have to be Bubba. Slap on bamboozle, never stop running at the survivor. It's not the most effective strategy in the world, but it's one that takes no mechanical skill and no brainpower for depressingly good results.
The killers I personally find the most intuitive are the ones with an oppressive, convoluted chase, like Blight or Demogorgon, or killers that manipulate survivors, like Plague or Hag.
-
Yes I have, and that (coupled with a few very clear instances of exhaustion being use while exhausted or having no exhaustion perks, survivors magically vanishing into thin air after turning a corner into a doorless hallway, and gens popping in such a way that I wouldn't have noticed they were instapopped if not for Tinkerer) has made me genuinely scared of secret hackers.
-
Look, I hate to be the whattabouter but I really do have to say it: What about killer?
This isn't just a survivor problem, there's a lot of incredibly dull and boring gameplay that killers have to deal with that, somewhat depressingly, most of the "boring" killers were created to counter (predropping pallets, holding W, slamming gens, broken tile setups, etc). The core issue really is the uninteractive gens driving chases to be artificially shortened with stronger and stronger killers.
Also, I have no idea what you are going in about with all this talk of "killer instinct", I never even considered that mechanic a problem, it's just weaker aura reading (that can't be countered by lockers or perks, so also it's stronger in a way) that some killers have access to if certain conditions are met.
Overall, the game is still survivor sided, and survivor is without a doubt far easier and far less stressful than killer, but it's not really a one-sided game because the matchmaking is absolutely awful and always puts opponents agasint one another who have significant advantages, for example a SWF meta team agasint Myers or... any killer against pure solo's.

Yay, one video and now we pretend that this is happening on a frequent basis. Let alone, Rank 17-Killer... Oh yeah, he had Devotion 10, but this does not mean that this guy is really playing Killer. You can get 2k Hours by playing Survivor, who knows.
Can we post some videos were Killers win in 3 minutes? Or do those not count? We should use those edge cases as evidence all the time, this would make a lot of sense!
I'd be fine with those videos, because they really highlight the disparity in matchmaking, having good killers go agaisnt baby survivors.
Not quite the same intent as genrush vids, you can get those by just watching tournaments with no rules, but still they're extremely valuable to highlight a different and arguably far worse problem than uninteractive game progression, given that it's probably thousands of times more prevalent that an actual bit of genrushing.
-
@Orion said:
Why should they have that information for free? You already have the game automatically keep track of how many times everyone was hooked.
Because SWF get that information for free and the game hasn't been balanced around solo que for years.
-
The fun part is that that wasn't the best way to do gens. If you all split up at the beginning, you get a guaranteed 3 gens in about 90 seconds, one gen has some work on so someone goes and does that while the inevitably chased teammate predrops every pallet, then you have two people stack on the last one and get them all done in under 3 minutes with no toolboxes or perks.
It's not really that common though, far more common is the 3.30 gens, which is enough leeway for Blight, Nurse or Spirit to interrupt them, but even that's rare compared to the 4-minute gens which is what most of the better killers can deal with, such as Oni, Huntress and Plague.
However, all of these scenarios are breathtakingnly unfair and I really, really hope that we get a rework that makes gens far more interactive and far less boring for us normal survivors.
-
Heres an idea, don't bother hiding. Who cares, even if the killer comes for you that's a very, very good thing. And yeah, there's absolutely loads of counterplay that's pretty easy to do but also.... You should be getting chased and hooked. That's absolutely the right play, hooks need to be spread out.
Or killers could use any of the far better, less recognisable and far less counterable tracking perks available at the cost of their own BP. After all, DbD isn't a hide-and-seek game. If it was, there would be ways of making stealth somewhat difficult that didn't involve perks.
-
Demogorgon, actually. It didn't take me very long at all to learn the basics of shredding and to be perfectly honest I wasn't even remotely surprised to find that Rat Liver wasn't much help in Scott's video because I never actually held my lunge for very long and so kind of had to rely on other people and the Demogorgons I go against. I never even saw STBFL as that useful in him, so you can imagine how much use I get from his new add-ons.
It used to be Blight that was the most natural to me, but they changed how his collision works when they upped his PoV and it completely wrecked me. Plus I was getting bored of him, so I went back to being a Plague main, whom I prefer to all the other killers because she's just so damn fun.
-
No, that's a terrible idea. If you go for an unsafe unhook, you should be going on the hook next. Perks don't change that at all.
-
A bit. If someone wants to leave, they should be taking the penalty as the punishment they do deserve. Quitters ruin the trial for everyone else and should be discouraged, not allowed to exploit loopholes that aren't even available to everyone.
-
They're mostly decent. Blast Mine will be a bully squad perk (like we need more of those), Counterforce, Resurgence and Rookie Spirit are all pretty good, Flashbang is a meme, and Bite The Bullet is not for people with as much experience as we have unless they like to heal right beside the killer.
-
I don't think that it should even do what it does. Survivors should never be encouraged to let teammates die. Perks like Left Behind and Sole Survivor are just awful.
-
Yes, the game is losing so many players that survivor ques can take more than half an hour.
Wait, that doesn't mean it's survivors leaving...
-
That would just create more problems. People with thousands and thousands of hours would be listened to like the drivel they are spouting is the gospel truth, while others with good idea's and far better understand of game mechanics would be ignored as scrubs despite dedicating hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to DbD.
For example, I come across a lot of veteran players that genuinely think this game is massively killer sided and that survivors don't ever stand a chance. They complain about killers such as Huntress and Wraith, while pretending that Nurse is fine and has plenty of counterplay because they almost never go agasint good Nurses.
A single dip into the tournament scene would easily disprove all of these claims, but of course they don't care.
-
I had a complicated idea a while back that I'll try to refine:
Remove passive phasing and turn it into an alternate stance called "Active Phasing" that makes her constantly blink in and out of existence but severely lowers her Haunting recharge speed to about 40-60 seconds and doesn't let her activate it/fully recharge it while in this stance. If it's too weak, she can move at 4.6 in this stance.
Yamaoka's Haunting shows a wraith-style shimmer (weaker in intensity that Wraiths), for both her and the survivors. This includes becoming invisible after standing still for a little while. It's duration is increased but her movement speed is decreased, similar to Yakuoke Amulet. This would allow for more genuine mindgames and reward attentiveness.
-
I honestly don't care. It's way more about how someone plays and about how merciful I'm feeling.

Honestly, I have no idea what the difference between a walrus and a seal 😂 Anyway, still love those seals nonetheless.
A walrus is a particular species of seal that has those big tusks that... Well, to be perfectly honest no-one really knows what precise function they have, they just seem to be really useful for breaking through ice, defence, and occasionally predatation. They also have the sensory organs that look like a moustache, hence the term and fashion feature "walrus moustache".
I spent about 4 hours researching seals a few days ago. I don't know why. Also, elephant seals dive ridiculously deep for more than an hour.

Balanced? Maybe, when you look at the grand scheme of DbD, with its mix of strong and weak that all have their counters, even if it's just a good, old-fashioned genrushing as in the case of Spirit. If it's okay to make them weak, it's okay to make them strong.
Fair? Not at all. Not at all. A top tier killer whose only difficult if you hold back on the perks and tactics? Nope. That ain't fair.
-
I love that you still genuinely think there's no cooldown between hatchet throws. Apparently she can just machine gun like Trickter. I hear tales that the really good Huntress mains never even used Iri Head build because they didn't see the point what with the literal instadowns she has built in.
No cooldown, no way of avoiding hatchets... You really do like to complain about the dumbest things. Maybe we should let STBFL work with hatchets, since there's clearly no ######### cooldown to minimise.
You need to do something that isn't quitting on your solo teammates. Maybe try to actually play the game the way it's supposed to be played, or just VPN down here in the AU evenings. No Nurse or Spirit either, you're not going against tournament squads, just ######### good teams that know how to do gens.
-
A rework to generators that encourages player interaction, such as fetching parts or gas, so as to reduce the gap between normal and mobile killers and also to drastically nerf genrushing without impacting the average trials balance.

Imagine some of the people of this forum finding out that they did not in fact lose to a 4man
The really sad thing is that they probably never lose to solo teams at all, and they wouldn't even mind knowing that.
-
I definitely think this would be fair. It would mostly show how depressingly underpowered solo/single 2-person teams are, but it would alsot have the nice side effect of showing that there really is a problem with full parties, because at that point everyone just does gens without even meaning too because they're so not scared.
Hopefully it would be the kick in the pants for the Devs to close the gap between SWF and solo que.
-
They aren't even close. Wraiths counter is predropping weak pallets so that he can't take control (same as agasint Pig) and otherwise playing normally. Spirit doesn't have a counter because you cannot tell what she is ever doing and she moves much faster than wraith.
-
Yes, Spirit, because I refuse to use her BS (Stridor, standing still, etc) and so she's actually quite hard to learn even with good sounds. It's definitely possible and I do enjoy occasionally trying, but as with many other killers I don't find honing one specific skill to be that fun. She really is the only exception, and even then it's because I put so many limitations on myself that I even need to learn that skill.
Edit: To clarify, I don't find honing one skill to be that fun (Tricksters aim, for example) but though I get bored of Spirit rather quickly I still find it fun to jump into a trial or two and mess around.
-
Right. Instead of getting rid of homophobes, we should get rid of the tiniest scrap of LGBT+ representation.
Edit: Just because some people really need the clarification, I'm talking about actual homophobes, not just killers that happen to camp or tunnel people with the pride charm.
-
Who cares? There's 3 people in the trial that BBQ probably lit up, unless 2 of them wasted massive amounts of time hiding.
-
The gens are not okay. They need a full rework that adds proper interactivity.
-
Hopefully they'll buff nemesis (getting mutation from hitting infected survivors, slightly better t3) but slightly nerf the zombies so you don't have to use precious resources to get rid of them.
-
Survivor mains are definitely getting more entitled. It's perfectly okay for them to tryhard but the moment a killer does the same they're a scumbag. Many think Wraith is unfair and unfun. They defend all of their perks and constantly ######### about their opponents, and they pretend that killers are the ones that always have the advantage and completely.ig prong the stress and difficulty of playing killer.
Killer mains are pretty much the same, whining about genrushing when they don't even know the meaning of the term and using predatory tactics that only work agaisnt solo teams then bitching about SWF.
-
I agree with everything except Trickter being fun. Personally, I don't get much satisfaction from pure mechanical skill. I don't know why, it's just not my thing.
And that's honestly the most effective playstyle I've found for him, and it was quite by accident because I just wanted to practice my aim without worrying about mindgames and suddenly I was winning all the time. It got pretty dull after a while because, sure, I could have practiced and gotten to be a much better shot, but that's just not my thing.

The same reason why people love Legion. She basically gets stuff done for free in the hands of people that, let's face it, are not good at this game. Whereas Legion can get an injury with absolutely no effort whatsoever (unless they're exceptionally bad), Spirit can do the same with both an injury, and especially a down.
They're both 'fun' to use as well, as they move quicker than most killers. I do find Spirit fun to use sometimes, scaring some survivors and even just doing memey things. But this fun is clearly born from the fact that nothing can be done to stop her, and consequently there is minimal pressure felt when playing her. Her 'control' comes from robbing your adversaries of any satisfying or pleasant gameplay, which is inherently a problem. You can oppress a team without this absolutely silly trait, but you'd need a modicum of skill.
I'm not sure Legion is the best comparison, given that they only get a free injure and have to work exceptionally hard for everything else.
-
They do different things, don't they? Iron Will removes all grunts of pain (and breathing) but not the healing found, and Bite The Bullet removes the actual sound of healing and the grunts of pain from anyone you heal, including yourself.
Either way, Iron Will is clearly stronger. Bite the Bullet won't give you free chase distance, it just makes it so you won't get caught healing unless the killer physically sees you or has Nurses. Which can come in handy, I actually had a trial earlier today where that would have been very helpful.
-
Pig should get buffed. Less counterplay just means that survivors can't outright leave a tile the moment the wraith cloaks, other than that it's essentially the same and has the same counterplay - don't let the killer take control of the pallet at weak loops. Except Pig has the aforementioned counter of simply running away the moment she crouches, because even if she's baiting that's a lot of distance you just gained.

Well friend i never tried him. So i really do not know old version. I gave him chance 1 - 2 days ago. First matches was so hard, hits survivors was like imposible when i was using my power. But when i learned him well, now he is really strong. And i am not good with him, i am still so new.
The changes they made did nothing but change his camera height, scramble his collision, and slightly get rid of his awful exploit but also it didn't really do much. So, good job bhvr. They gave us one change we wanted, one we didn't, and one that didn't even work properly.

Blight is one of the most balanced killers. He’s strong, has a high skill cap, and has counterplay. I really hope they don’t nerf him.
Honestly, it's shocking the number of people I've seen complaining that Blight is unfun and OP. I am willing to bet the devs are at least considering it.
-
Blight was always good, it's just that certain people genuinely want nothing more than m1 killers that can be safely looped at every tile in a similar fashion to one another and their voices are growing ever louder because the game is shifting away from basic m1 killers. Blight cannot be looped in maze tiles, so the safest thing to do agasint him is to be confusing at LoS blockers and make your way to filler pallets, junk tiles and the like.
Also, certain Blight's like to use nothing more than stacked slowdown perks and exploits, though that's more about hating the player than the killer.
-
You can tell someone who doesn't understand how DbD works when they claim Nurse has counterplay that Slinger doesn't.
Only bad Nurse's have counterplay, and it's the same with bad Slinger's. Just wiggle a bit and don't fall for that idiotic zoning, and they'll miss most of their shots. Same as playing against a crappy Nurse and using LoS blocks to mess with her prediction blinks that she shouldn't be making because that's just dumb gameplay.

although he is in a fine spot, killers have to be strong he is okay but any decent team will destroy him. killers should be strong but not OP.
If it's okay to have strong killers then it's okay to have weaker ones. Killers that don't want to use them can simply choose not to use them.
Edit: also, a decent team won't destroy a proper good clown. A genrushing and predropping team, maybe, but that's gone far beyond the realm of "decent".
-
I don't think I've seen the DC icon in months. My experience is more along the lines of potatoes playing like they're in a SWF team because they probably are but don't realise that co-ordination and communication doesn't extend to people not currently in their VC.
Like this crazy Cheryl that threw the trial trying to save someone from an obviously facecamping Bubba instead of doing gens. Or their other buddy that camped a ######### window against a Bubba. Congrats, he went into tantrum and you got a mouthful of soft, wet Badham mud.
