  • The fact that you're getting away with using Pop on slow AF m1 killers is rather telling. Surge? Absolutely. Pop? No, you're relying on survivors to screw up a fair bit and 3-gen themselves while you massively drag out the trial.

  • Sounds like you have moderate to high ping.

  • Buckle Up does basically nothing useful.

No Mither has its place, especially if everyone's using it in the party. Sabo Squads use it to make themselves unhookable even in current DbD. Sole Survivor has the very slight, borderline useless lose-less effect that some people use it for instead of leaving their team to die. Deja Vu is a very good perk and pops up a lot in tournaments. But Buckle Up? The only time you would get vaguely consistent use out of it is in a SWF... But a SWF team would just say when they're ready!!!!

  • Constantine. That show was so very close to the Hellblazer comics and Matt Ryan will forever be who my mind goes to when comedones says the name "John Constantine". Plus, it was just a straight-up horror series. Like if Supernatural was less Aliens and more Alien.

  • Monstrous Shrine is so bad and encourages such scummy behaviour you forgot it even exists.

  • People are kind of idiots about Wraith now. Everything they're complaining about already existed. Wraith already had the ability to constantly catch you out of position, he already got free hits at unsafe pallets if you didn't predrop them, it's just now he also has map mobility so that all of those tactics actually work better.

  • I gonna be honest here, if you're constantly getting caught out of position and/or taking hits from his lunge at unsafe pallets, that's the Wraith playing very well and/or you not realising you should be predropping unsafe pallets to make sure the Wraith can't take control and use his lunge in the first place.

  • I don't think the Devs are that genuinely stupid as to believe that a perk as mediocre in effect as BBQ is being ran because it's OP, especially since it some of the few perks that actually gives killers a reason to hook people.

  • Yes, most people agree that NOED is the one true second chance perk that killers have, although Spirit Fury does sort of fit the catagory.

Of course, an entire catagory of survivor perks also fit this description, it's just that Dead Hard is the poster child because it's in every single trial on multiple people, it's so direct, repeatable and has no other uses, unlike BT and DS which both exist to punish or protect from certain kinds of killers.

  • If you cleanse the dulls, the killer wins, if you leave the dulls they get a free kill.

Seems like pretty ######### options to me, especially since I could just not use NOED and have all these mor - uh, lovely and intelligent killer/SWF mains tell people to "do bones" and win my killer trials for me.

  • Survivors, by a small margin. The sheer number of entitled survivor mains mens they tend to form much larger bubbles of absolute ridiculousness that feed each other until finally they decide that Wraith is OP and unfair. I know, certain large groups of survivor mains actually believe that. Not add-ons, Wraith. Then there's the ones that insist slowdown perks are even remotely comparable to the survivor meta, when in actual fact they aren't even remotely necessary to beat even the greatest of Nurses, it's actually info sharing that's the true must-have and Exhaustion perks and free second chances just make the already simple survivor experience even easier.

Not that killer mains are much better. I want to drag them through the torment and hell that is months and months of the sweatiest survivors you can find without seeking out tournaments, then have them look me in the eye and say that "genrushing" is 3 gens in 3 minutes.

That's not genrushing, that's a bloody holiday. In a sleepy seaside fishing town where everything seems to slow down and relax. And you have drinks with little umbrellas.

They arent held back. If they want more info they can use info perks, why should they run meta and still get all the info? Because swf has it? Guess we shall just rework half of the base game. And once again you cant balance until mmr is a thing. Atm you can 12hooks at 5 gens, that should never happen but that's because rank means nothing. I feel like you're missing the point im making, you just seem to want solos buffed even though they was playing so well and making killer hard in mmr. But we shall buff them anyway...

Let me put it this way: I currently suffer from the terrible syndrome that is co-ordinated survivors. MMR made my trials easier when it was active. I am dealing with exactly what you are terrified of and I'm still saying that solo survivors need buffed. Why? Because a full team of solo's is the easiest win I could possibly have. Their skill means nothing. They may as well not exist. They have both arms and a leg tied behind them, they are forced to choose between info perks and mindles second chances, they're constantly matched with weak links to be heavily exploited and no matter what they always make crucial mistakes due to lack of information even if they're running 4 info perks.

When I play solo I usually get matched with a 2-3 person SWF. I know from experience I don't have to deal with the BS that NA and EU solo's do. And you know what? I think everyone should have to deal with co-ordinated survivors with strong, mindless builds trial after trial after trial. Because then shite would actually change instead of MMR bandaiding it like the Devs are praying it will. So yes, the Devs should buff solo survivors long before they finally release what they promised, because then everyone will know both the pain of good survivors and that, and this is truly the worst part, that killers can still ######### win. It's miserable. I hate it. And the only way it will ever change is if the Devs themselves and the community at large are forced to deal with co-ordinated survivors. Then people would shut up about solo's being weak and actually give some massively overdue QoL buffs to killer just to make trials that much less stressful.

Leaving a massively long overdue solo buff til long after MMR has settled won't do a thing except throw the system into chaos as it is forced to adjust once more. If you want real change, buff solo's while we have the current system and watch everyone realise in horror just how badly good solo's have had their hands tied.

Okay... I know how ranking works, did you read the post? I said buffing solos is stupid till mmr is a thing. You cant buff survivors that lack game knowledge, lack skill or even lack understanding of perks, efficiency etc. To beat decent killers. I said we have to WAIT till mmr has been active awhile. Or all you'll do is mess it up and require more changes after mmr

To be honest, I read every part of that post except the last sentence and now I have a slightly different issue: What? You're basically saying let everything settle then throw it into chaos again, that makes even less sense. That makes even less sense, there's soamy very, very good solo players that are held back by a lack of co-ordination.

As someone who goes against nothing but the sweatiest and really ######### hates playing killer now because there's absolutely nothing fun at all about 5-minute trials with, if you make even a small mistake, 4-minute gens, that's not a good idea and solo que should be buffed whenever the Devs are ready, hang the consequences. (The consequences in this context being evening AU survivor ques for everyone which would force the Devs to also give killer a shiteload of QoL buffs).

High mmr meaning high skill, most people know what I mean. For some reason on DBD low rank seems to be counted as rank 20. I dunno why when many other games use different things like overwatch etc. But yes I know the difference between.

Let me spell this out for you: killers struggling with their trials will go down until their MMR gives them comfortable trials.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2243022#Comment_2243022

Yeah mmr is a problem. When it actually worked killer was miserable at high skill unless like you said very good nurse etc. And that itself proves buffing player before mmr is terrible. I guarantee you killers will need buffs after mmr and it will be a common streamer complaint. People dont want insane fast games, people want to chase and do multiple things in a trial

You do realise that MMR goes down, yeah?

  • Honestly, All Kill was probably the best we've had so far, it brought us buffed Wraith, Tall Blight, the pseudo-removal of the J-flick, a bunch of decent perks, a cool survivor, a divisive killer that really pissed off the slasher purists (also called 'hypocrytes') and everyome who though they had a modicum of skill but in reality just parrot streamers, and a pretty sweet menu theme.

Other than that, probably Silent Hill and Stranger Things, because they brought in a bunch of new players.

Edit: Also, All Kill gave us the DS nerf, the OoO change, Lucky Break, and a bunch of other things I can't remember.

  • But the way MMR works, in theory, would propel more and more buffed solo survivors into mid-high MMR trials and drastically shorten the que times, so that once the numbers have settled you have this teeny tiny percentage of the population playing what is essentially competitive DbD (or just AU servers in the evenings, courage to all my high rank AU killers, we will pull through this into the realm of not having to deal with 4-minute gen averages and can maybe stop playing genuinely near-perfectly or just playing Nurse, Blight or Spirit in order to stand a chance), and the rest chilling out having 8-minute trials.

You don't need to be. I have downed survivors in under 20 seconds per chase as bubba and still lost thanks to map travel time and survivors doing gens without needing to leave.

Organise one guy to save or pick up a slug and always have 2 survivors on gens away from the chase = auto win.

Solo players lose because they waste time leaving the gens to go for a save or check for camping. this is where the killer gains time to make plays and win chases.

I had a game where everyone ran kindred (solo players) the gens got done in 4 minutes and the killer couldn't do anything to stop it.

You're exactly the kind of person that needs a SWF indicator, I guarantee you'll see that nearly every single trial you play has a SWF team in it and more often than not you either bulldoze them or you could have won but made mistakes.

This is something I learned back in the days without crossplay when I could check profiles and did it (and still do check PC players) literally every single trial.

  • Yes I have, but I don't want to name names because it wasn't their best performance and they kind of gave up after just some of the worst luck.

  • I still don't really understand what the big deal about PH's butt is, to be honest, and I'm a bi woman. But hey, I say give the people what they want and revert his stance so his booty is showing better. Apparently it's quite attractive. Also, like, who doesn't want his bubble butt back? I feel like everyone's either pro-booty or relatively neutral.

  • Very much so, a minute of Ruin is worth far more than 2 minutes of Corrupt.

A top tier killer character can be used by a player to beat swf teams. This just leaves the other 80% of the roster obsolete and avoid at all costs.

Even a basic swf will increase difficulty by 2x as just the simple act of deciding who is going to save and maximising gen progression is enough to destroy most killers thanks to map size and horrifically out of touch design.

Except that a full solo que team is basically a free win for any vaguely competent killer playing any killer, so...

Edit: No, actually, any character can beat most SWF teams. I really need to stress that, SWF doesn't automatically mean hyper co-ordinated and amazing in chases.

  • @Pulsar said:

I'm a very average Survivor, who plays with two above average Survivors regularly and I win 80% of my games.

In my experience, you really don't need a ton of skill to dominate most of the Killers you play.

Regardless, Solo's should be buffed to have the same info as SWF because we will not be able to see balance without it. Good Killers (Nurse, Spirit ect) are going to be fine against SWF but impossible with Solo's. That's gotta change.

Exactly this, SWF isn't the core issue, it's the disparity in matchmaking. Good killer players can beat most SWF teams, good killers playing strong characters can do it far more comfortably, and both absolutely dominate solo teams with alarming ease because instead of putting relatively equally prepared opponents together it just throws shite at a wall til something sticks.

  • They should definitely add a SWF marker in the post-game chat to highlight how unfair solo que and full sweat squads are.

  • Sorry about that, some people are entitled twats or just trolls. I won't lie, I definitely have those small flashes when I get tunneled - "is it because of my charm?" - but it's almost ways paranoid nonsense and the only way it would be reportable is if it was so blatant as to be unable to be anything else.

  • It's because it's a very dangerous perk, like MoM. If they remove too many limitations it's suddenly the most overpowered, unfair pile of crap.

Hopefully they realise that they can do with perks like they did with wraith and slowly buff them to an acceptable level, in the case of Autodidact likely by stripping out conditions one by one.

  • I love this overwhelming advantage I have that allows me to lose many of my 5-minute trials despite maining a very strong killer and....

Wait, did you just say you despise Pop, the perk that's almost like the killers Self Care?

  • I'm not sure if tunneling has actually increased, but the amount of people thinking that BT means the killer won't go for the person they just farmed is insane. Seriously, that's not tunneling, that's killers punishing poor behaviour just the same as survivors ought to punish camping and real tunneling by slamming gens.

I am destroying all totems. And most times i am playing solo. I love Inner Strength + Small Game combo. Gives me free heal + points. And i will just change Small Game with Counterforce.

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and say you're going agasint terrible killers. If a team wastes 2 minutes tripping over each other to cleanse totems, I won a minute into that disaster.

  • @Northener1907 said:

Not just ruin, all hex totems will be. Because survivors are so lazy for search totems and there was already good 2 totem find perks.

After this perk if we see any complain about "NOED"... 😂

Never heard the term "solo que" before? You know, the ones who literally cannot even attempt to cleanse all 5 totems?

Okay, thank you. I'll try to adjust my perks and add ons, I've had to try to many builds these past few days just to get him to feel better and I'll try anything at this point. And its a good point about the gens, I do take time to kick them and you're right, I probably shouldn't. But idk what else I can do to slow progess of the survivors down? I had a game last night and I was chasing 2 players, the ENTIRE game couldn't of been going on for more than 2 minutes and then mid-chase with 1 survivor 2 gens popped off and I was like... utterly shocked. Idk what kind of perks they had on but a lone survivor doing 1 gen THAT fast is in sane, and in this game 2 survivors had gone to 2 seperate generators and in the time it took me to injure 2 others with FF, basically half off all the generators were done. It made me feel basically useless because I hadn't even done anything majorly wrong, the game had JUST started and I got my 2 injuries right away. I wish I saved that game so I could show because I have NO clue what I could possibly do in that situation

You're supposed to lose 3 and a half gens before getting a down, usually in between 90-120 seconds. That's how the game was designed, which is why Ruin is so good: it removes the half-gen.

I still love Legion despite how horrible he feels to play--but I feel like if Legion was any bit decent amonst the killer tier list, I'd of seen him at least ONCE as a survivor. I've literally never seen him, and while still new to the game, I've experienced every other killer several times or at least once--except Legion. Like if he is a great m1 killer, I figured he'd be played more--like the others--but he's simply not. Legion feels like a survivor with an ax to grind. No power, just a knife. I still love this character, but... just don't see how they are decent. I even tried finding videos of successful Legions and 9/10 times they did well because the survivors were absolute idiots. And every tier list I find, Legion is wayyy down there. Either D or F tier

A lot of it is down to the build and not getting baited. Legion rapidly injures people and has very good inbuilt tracking, but only a (very good, thanks to low stature and quiet footsteps) m1 chase to down. Personally I prefer Ruin/Undying or Ruin/Surge, with Thanatapbobia and the mangled pin and Enduring. Enduring is absolutely replaceable, I just hate getting rubber banded directly into a pallet because the survivor has a shite connection. Avoid PGTW, that perk is the worst, it will lose you more trials than it wins, kicking gens is your absolute worst enemy, you're an m1 killer you can't afford the time waste, don't ever use Pop in a killer that is forced to choose between chases and gens.

And if you find a good survivor in a strong area, just frenzy them and leave. They literally cannot stop you, you have 10 seconds to find someone else, chasing them will lose you the trial.

  • Plague now spawns her corrupt fountain in the centre of the map.

  • It's an unfortunate fact, but the only perks in the entire game that are genuinely necessary are game delay and teammate info.

  • You have to be breathtakingly accurate.

  • I'm gonna be honest, I still don't see the use of Sole Survivor. But I guess I just don't give a toss about escaping, personally.

Probably why I can't take off OoO, that perk still gets me tunneled a fair bit. But as long as my team wins, I don't care, and if we don't, the blame certainly doesn't rest with the girl that did 2 gens, 4 safe unhooks, threw herself into chases just to spread out hooks, and probably died cackling because only 3 gens got done in 8 hooks (I'll leave you all to do the maths).

And I'm starting to see why I never get use out of Sole Survivor.

  • Legion is a very good killer, they have the ability to slow the game down and have strong inbuilt tracking. You simply have to be very good at m1 gameplay, and not be afraid to Frenzy people that are already injured and use the tracking to hunt down a weaker target.

  • A lot of perks have that so that killers with strong injure powers can't spam debuffs. Admittedly Surge makes no sense when you actually stop to think about it - it's got a cooldown to prevent Oni, Plague, Nurse or Billy from proccing it a bunch - but perks like Third Seal or Knockout that shouldn't even be in the game? Yeah, glad they have limitations.

  • Because it doesn't, not really. If someone Q&Q's, I'm All Ears just doesn't activate, and when Q&Q is on cooldown it can still activate, which given the amount that survivors fast vault in a chase means that it only delays the use of I'm All Ears by a few seconds.

  • So, you don't see why someone could be mad about tunneling, facecamping or genrushing?

Tunneling is the killer saying "######### you" to one survivor and making sure they die. Clearly there's a problem there that has nothing to do with efficiency, since even in a hook farming situation it's far more efficient to leave them on the ground.

Facecamping is another one that people insist is efficient, but it's truly not. That's not to say the killer should always leave the area, it's just that I've seen significantly more killers claim that facecamping a survivor in a deadzone with no gens is efficient than anything else.

Gen rushing is one of the scummiest things in DbD. It really is, it's just a full party going "you know what, I don't even want to try". Most of the time they're not even very good in a chase and just predrop pallets, because that's another huge ######### problem in this game. Unlike the other two, in which there are situations where they are the right play, the blame for this rests entirely on the survivors that do it. They are essentially players asking for "free win" buttons and recieving them on silver platters. I guarantee they're also the biggest critics of Spirit, Nurse and Blight, because those are the only three that can make it somewhat difficult.

TLDR: Playing efficiently isn't what people think it is, except genrushing which is also not what people think it is but for a different reason.

Like I said I like the guy and he makes decent points but just like he also says as well he hates when people quote him and his videos and act like a hive mind instead of forming their own opinions.

And I agree with that, I certainly disagree with a lot of what he says (for example, spawns being the problem. They're not, imo they highlight it). But a lot of the time the criticism is misdirected given the genuine evidence that he provides and the logic he at least tries to use, as compared to the fans that just parrot opinions.

  • @Kirkylad said:

Is Scott Jund a dbd overlord because whenever he has an opinion people always praise it as the right one instead of having their own.

The only issue with spirit is the standing still mind game, other than that she's fine.

People respect Scott because he backs up his opinions with genuine facts and evidence, for example the video where he analysed Demogorgons reliance on rat liver and analysed how shredding works frame-by-frame.

  • @Orion said:

Because, in his mind, Spirit doesn't have counterplay. That's still a nerf, even if, in his opinion, it's justified.

I mean, he literally has an open invitation to prove him wrong if you want to go ahead and put that condescension to the test.

  • A completely open field about the size of Rotten Fields but without corn or resources that highlights just how much both gens and mass slugging need changed.

After that, just some more Red Forest maps. I like that realm.

  • Every time someone says they lose at a tall loop, I know they're a terrible Trickster but can't admit it. It should be taking you 30 seconds for an average survivor at a tall loop, 40 for a tournament ready one. He's not an easy killer, he requires better aim than Huntress, and if you're trying to mindgame people then you're wasting your own time and deserve to lose.

And he doesn't even have random recoil, his knives just gently drift upwards.

  • I mean that the damn xenomorphs are way bigger, badder and scarier than anything else in this game and it would be super lame and dissapointing to just have one be ridiculously weak and slow with no explaination just to fit into dbd.

So either they lean heavily into the entity holding it back to give the survivors a fighting chance, actively forcing it to hook people and so on, or it's just massively dissapointing.

  • I honestly keep forgetting the rift isn't a new thing and I've played far longer with it than without it.

  • This is more enthusiasm than I can actually muster.

  • On the one hand, I like the xenomorphs. On the other, it's going to look and feel so lame unless they literally show the entity holding it back with entity spikes.

I guess it comes down to opinion, but I don't consider Demo to be humanoid. Sure it has two arms, two legs, and a head, but due to it's digitigrade foot structure, petal mouth, occasionally crawling on all fours, freakish height, and lack of sexual external organ, again, I don't really consider it humanoid. I can see how people would, though.

The term "humanoid" just means "having human form or characteristics", which honestly is very subjective. Demogorgon has a head, walks upright, two arms, two legs, skin, teeth, digits, etc.

It's also a giant, portalling, carnivorous fungal-based hive-mind drone, so I guess it depends where you draw the line.
