Third Seal can be destroyed. Knockout is 16m at Tier3. If your team can't run and find you from 16m away. I don't know what to tell you. Survivor groups have to ######### up a LOT. To have the entire team slugged at once
Knockout and Third Seal make it completely impossible for survivors to find each other on the ground, and it has nothing to do with the team making any mistakes beyond not spawning on the totem.
-
I don't understand why people get so annoyed by gestures, I'm just raising my middle finger. I'm completely innocent in this interaction.
-
They could just make it unlimited duration, double use and deactivate on a full heal, save, or entering a locker as well as it's current conditions (because if it's unlimited duration you have no reason to enter a locker while the killer is near).

Your posts are as uninspired and worse then sluzzys. It's simple if your whole group got slugged at once. That's YOUR fault and YOUR group played poorly. While the killer played well.
Your group put yourself in the position to be close enough all at once to get slugged all at the same time without any time to get pick ups. Play better and stop blaming the killer for YOUR mistakes
How is it the teams fault that the killer refused to hook them and left them all to bleed out?
Edit: Also, Knockout and Third Seal do exist purely to do this to solo teams with no effort at all.

Are you implying that good Spirits win the game without traversing the map? Please clarify.
There is certainly playing around Spirit because Spirit can only be played by a human. Humans make mistakes. Humans can be conditioned. Ergo, you can condition a Spirit to make mistakes to eventually lose the game by not getting enough downs in time. If you could always escape her 100% of the time then there'd be no point in even playing her.
This isn't a fighting game, there isn't enough time to condition anything, and to cap it all even competitive players say that they're just guessing, so...
And no, a good Spirit doesn't really use her power for map traversal all that much, because she doesn't need to. Theres maybe one or two situations in an average trial where it's necessary. And if she does, she's stuck as a killer with no power for quite some time, which isn't exactly an ideal scenario agaisnt a decent team that can use the W key.

So it's impossible to tell if the Spirit uses an add-on that speeds up phasing, if she uses other add-ons that speed up phasing? Where's the logic in that? Either way you know she's phasing faster than normal and can account for that.
And what do you mean by "MDR only becomes noticeable over very large distances, which almost never come into play."? Killers have to travel to gens to win the game. That means going across large distances all the time. Playing against a Spirit using the MDR and a Spirit with it is super noticeable if you're repairing gens.
If you're in a SWF party with precise communication going against a bad Spirit, perhaps. Otherwise most, if not all, of your interactions are going to be in a chase, not against a potato that wastes their power on traversal, which means that not only do you have to deal with other movement speed add-ons, but charge time add-ons that have similar effects, and on top of that there's Yakuoke Amulet which MDR is most commonly paired with.
And there's no playing around any of these add-ons because theres no playing around Spirit, which is the core issue. Predrop pallets and guess wildly, how interactive and fun.
-
Are either of them even flexible enough...?
-
@SirCracken said:

You don't at all! The sheer speed Spirit is able to go is very noticeable once she starts phasing. That 40% boost can be felt from just how much space a Spirit can go in-between hooks. Let alone actually getting into a chase with her and trying to gain distance.
I'd argue that you would need more knowledge to determine if she's using duration add-ons than anything else. The ring basically reveals itself.
It doesn't, actually, because there's other add-ons in the game that speed her up. MDR only becomes noticeable over very large distances, which almost never come into play. Otherwise, you very well could mistake it for another add-on combination, or simply never even notice it to begin with because it's essentially impossible to tell when a Spirit starts to phase.

So the speed from the Mother Daughter Ring, that Otz mentions allowing the the Spirit to traverse the map in seconds, isn't objectively able to be detected?
Most of the time, no, it most certainly isn't. You'd have to have a very specific set of circumstances and and incredibly in-depth knowledge of the specifics of MDR to isolate it from her other addons.
-
Just to throw in yet another bit of testimony, Built To Last absolutely takes into account charges gained from add-ons. I think there was a glitch when it first came out in which it sometimes just didn't for reasons I don't understand, but that hasn't happened to me in months and only happened with toolboxes on the rare occasion where it did.

Zarina.
And Jeff, I suppose.

Blight is based off of the character, but I would like to see a proper Jekyll/Hyde inclusion at some point just because I like the idea of an upstanding high-society gentleman reverting to an awful, twisted form to carry out his repressed desires.
Maybe he could even be using the Blight serum, kind of like how Spirit and Oni are connected.

But a bad crutch. Killers with over 4k hours use NOED in tournaments where you can win money. Pretty sure they wouldn't hesitate to use Stridor if it would win them their game. Yes it has it's value against full-IW squads but it pisses me off i haven't learned her without it.
I'm lost, are you saying that a perk that makes one of the strongest and least counterable killers in the game significantly easier to the point of requiring the least practice out of any killer to steamroll 999/1000 games is a good thing or a bad thing?
-
Objectively speaking, her add-ons have no tells because her power doesn't ,making her power the true problem and not her add-ons. No-one complains that most of Plague's add-ons are nearly impossible to detect.
-
Distortion has a very strong, niche effect, as does Breakdown. I would prefer for them to be reworked to be less niche and less swf-reliant, but a straight buff isn't a good idea because they are by no means weak when a SWF plays into them.

About all the "Stridor-Spirit OP"-hate:
Not many good Spirits use Stridor, at least in the tournaments i've watched (yeah i know it's a different sphere), not one Spirit used it. I personally use it when i play her most of the time as i got used to it too much, but it makes pinpointing the exakt location of non-IW-survivors very difficult. Especially on loops with thin walls or at pallets it becomes a pure guess on which side they are.
Not many good Spirit players use Stridor because it's a crutch perk, like Shadowborn on Nurse or Huntress only less addictive.

Probably because of the end game harassment and cheating or delaying of the game. Saying things like "#########" and making sexual advances. It's usually not used for playing the game in a "mean" way. Griefing is a very specific term used for specific scenarios. It's typically not open for interpretation
Yes, for example leaving everyone to bleed out on the floor regardless of their proximity to hooks.

Hard disagree. It's your responsibility not to cheat. If they feel grievance with the way you play within the rules, that isn't your responsibility. That's a slippery slope of assuming blame and mal-intent to others who are playing a video game, at the end of the day.
It's a far worse slope to allow people to be complete arseholes. Why do you think other games actually have functional report systems and take steps to remove griefing?
-
His chase is fine, his problem is that he has nothing else.
-
@AVoiceOfReason said:
Spirit is far from fine. She's the only killer in this game where I see her and I don't even want to play the match out. It's that bad. Even if you escape, you don't feel like you won. You got LUCKY and that isn't a great feeling.
To be fair, that's also how I feel when I realise I got matched with a 3-person SWF and we steamroll a good Nurse.
Not that that makes Spirit fine, there's so many little things about her that take all the fun away until there's nothing left but this big black hole of anti-fun where nothing you do really matters and everyone's annoyed.
-
You can't 20-second chase a mediocre Spirit, either. There's no skill involved, it's just guesswork, except the Spirit has to guess less and less as she gets better at picking out environmental sounds... Or just equips Stridor.
-
Correction: the massive difference between high-end PC and everyone else
-
This would make her so much worse to go against. She technically only has a limited window to get you as it stands, and she's still a big problem, so playing most of the trial against a completely invisible killer that occasionally becomes visible but moves at insane speeds isn't going to be very fun at all, especially since she can just park next to you, charge and hit in like 1 second.
-
I'm gonna be honest, Spirit is a problem because humans are dumb and we require certain inputs to be happy.
If they give her back the breathing bug, she would be way better to face, even though it would essentially be like how Nurse broadcasts her blinks or Blight broadcasts his Rushes. Why? Because it actually takes a good Spirit to be quick enough for the breathing to not matter.

I really want that breathing bug back. It didn’t kill her and actually allowed equal mind games for both sides. 99% of the bugs that exist in DBD are ones that need to be fixed but this one was part of the 1%.
That and Surveillance.

Maybe I should constantly play Spirit with meta perks and powerful add ons so I can increase her escape rate. Then when the devs see that, they’ll finally do something with her.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2252387#Comment_2252387
Exactly. That’s the exact reason why the strength of Spirit isn’t the issue. It’s her not giving any tells on what she’s doing that makes it an issue and completely gets rid of all skill the survivors have.
This is also why people were celebrating Spirit's breathing bug, by the way, even though she moves so damn quick and in such short bursts that you physically couldn't react fast enough. I kept seeing Spirit players complain about how she was dead and Spirit Haters celebrating her death and meanwhile I was busy messing with people's heads until I got bored and murdered them... Or I lost track of time and the gens got done.
-
Most add-ons are impossible to tell, and many of those that are spottable are impossible to play around. For example, STK, Barbs Glasses, Black Heart, Blighted Rat...
It's like Nurse, there's a purely psychological effect that happens when you see something coming that makes it somehow better even though the reality of the situation is that you're completely ######### either way.

You don't complain about the person doing it.
It's the devs fault if they leave "unfun" things in the game, they are the only people you should be complaining about when it comes to this.
If people keep complaining we'll get a bleed out button eventually. (hopefully).
No, I absolutely blame the person whose griefing.
-
Oh, people absolutely do play the other side. At low ranks.

Griefing is an entirely different can of worms. I'm speaking strictly from legal play.
Slugging everyone and leaving them to bleed out is "legal".
-
Having any number of hooks before 3 gens are done? What is this sorcery?
-
I have never experienced this, I've always been able to pick them up.

So, screw over your team and give the killer exactly what they want?

She doesn't really have counterplay, she has predropping strong pallets and wildly guessing.

@weirdkid5 said:
I'll put it this way like I have before:
It isn't YOUR responsibility that your opponent has fun. The only person's fun you are responsible for is your own. That's just how video games work, and this applies to every single video game ever made.
It is your responsibility to not actively ruin your opponents experience (griefing), however, which is where the lines start to blurr and which is why we have the Survivors Rulebook For Killers because it's very unlcear for survivor mains to know what's actually necessary.
-
Yeah, especially since other people do this as well.
I hate people insisting on cleansing totems to counter NOED. That's like saying the counter to pop is to only ever have 4 people on a gen.
-
@Dabihwow said:
Maybe one from Down under would be pretty cool
So long as they're aboriginal. Those folks need more rep.
-
I'm gonna be honest, none. The likelihood of you being the last survivor alive and getting hatch is lower than you helping your team to escape and thereby escaping yourself, even if you plan on becoming one of those incredibly toxic people that literally does nothing and let's their teammates die because even killers hate those survivors and will work together with the last survivor or two to hunt you down, which may be agaisnt the rules but as far as I can tell isn't enforced because even the Devs dislike that kind of Survivor.
So, just run strong perks hide from the killer and do gens and that'll give you the best chance of escape.
Edit: to clarify, I wasn't suggesting you're becoming that level of selfishly low as to literally do nothing at all, I'm just pointing out what I often see.
-
Because people exist that dilute the concept of tunnelling until killers get blamed for existing and therefore decide to commit the actions they are getting blamed for.
-
Some content creators don't take responsibility for what they do and say, and just fan the flames til they get what they want. You know the kind, the ones who have their opinion and reject all contrary evidence, or the ones who act toxic and entitled and pretend their audience isn't doing the same, or worse encourage their audience to do the same.
-
You play the killer normally without the exploits the Devs themselves are trying to remove.
-
On a killer that m1's to damage, yes. Spirit and Hag especially would do well, but Nurse would also be good.

Not sure what exactly fursuit entails because I honestly don't give a #########, but if it's about wanting to ######### animals, that's the disgusting thing here and I can understand the prejudice.
Every furry I've ever met despises zoophiles. Which is not a large pool, I admit, but the point still stands that dressing in costumes and ######### horses are two very different things.
-
I'm going to be honest, that doesn't mean shite. It's the same as her glowing shards, the circumstances in which you can detect the slightest but if difference are so specific they may as well not exist.
Also, competitive players still vault directly into Spirits because they can't see whatever it is we're supposed to be looking for and, if that's not enough, she can just activate her power and stand there similarly to what I did during the breathing bug.

Can you re-phrase that?
The term "power role" refers to the one in control. I have never heard it used for anything else. Tru3ta1ent was certainly using it to mean "killers should be in control", I know because I was one of those annoying whiny killer mains back then and I watched his streams daily.
Power = control. Power role = the one in control. PvP games ≠ power roles. Assymetrical or otherwise, you cannot have one side be powerful and thereby in control. Control is supposed to be fought over, which is where the "v" in "PvP" comes from.
But apparently peeople have corrupted the term "power role" to mean "the side in assymetrical games that's individually stronger". This makes no sense whatsoever.

Didn't.... was it Tru3 or Pug?... once test out how many points/pips you can get as killer by slugging at the start, hooking and camping two, getting chase- and genkickpoints from the others (cause one of them will very likely have UB) then slugging one of them again, getting more chasepoints before hooking and camping both? and the result was merciless killer with almost a perfect match?
Given Tru3's borderline obession with 12-hooking and being right about the pip system, I don't really think it was him.
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2250422#Comment_2250422
You have no context of what I'm referring to.
The power role is supposed to be at a slight disadvantage during the 4v1 section but become progressively stronger as the game goes on.
The numbers role is supposed to be at a slight advantage during the 4v1 but become weaker as the game continues.
Power, in this case, simply means the role which can compete with 4 others.
As for Tru3, he was saying this at a time when Survivors held a much larger advantage over Killers than they do today, making them both the power and numbers role. If he still maintains the same belief today, I think he's wrong.
So what you're telling me is that there is a completely incorrect usage of the term "power role" that I have never heard of in all my years as a gamer or in my time in game development that people think Tru3ta1ent has been using whilst he complains that killers should be in control and survivors should be terrified?
-
@Pulsar said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2250260#Comment_2250260
He was right.
By definition, asymmetrical games have a numbers role and a power role. He often complained that the numbers role (Survivor) was too strong and that the power role (Killer) was too weak.
No, he's not, there is no such thing as a "power role" in a PvP game. The "power role" is the role that is in charge and dictates the flow of game itself, a good example being DM's. No side in any PvP game is supposed to control the other, assymetrical or otherwise, which is where the entire concept of "balance" comes in.
You are not supposed to have a power trip playing killer.

As someone who has an issue with facecamping being allowed, I fail to see any issue with slugging? There are many anti-slugging perks in the game, and slugging too much is a great way to lose if the killer doesn’t know what they’re doing.
Actually, you've almost hit the nail in the head there, because in actual fact the only real counterplay to slugging is perks. However, leaving one or two people on the ground in the middle of a snowball isn't what people are complaining about, it's the genuinely excessive stuff. Bleed-outs, solo-bullying perks, etc.
-

How is slugging on the same level as tunnelling or camping?
As with tunneling and camping, some people take it to excess and that's what people complain about.
