I hope not, in my eyes this is not right, because there are a lot of swf troops who are not good and only play casual (a few rounds with friends) then this results in a matchmaking (which is very bad)

the 2nd version is also very bad example, survivor 1 has 2000 (idk sbm points? xD) the killer has 4000, then the SBM does so that the gap is filled so that one comes to about 4000

In other words: survivor 1 has 2000, survivor 2,3 and 4 have 700 = 4100, that makes no sense because the person with 2000 would be frustrated and no longer have fun ...

I mean they tested it 3 months ago it was great, it was a lot of fun, so I don't understand bhvr why they did it so badly now ...

I just told you, they've spent months accumulating MMR because the current matchmaking is so poor in most regions. They haven't been going against better and better opponents, they've just been going against the same ones over and over again that they easily beat. Those kinds of trials slowly inflate the scores. If someone was at 2000 points during the last test and has spent the last few months getting easy wins, their score inflates and now they're at 3000 points, and suddenly MMR gets turned on and all these mediocre players are having to deal with people who actually earned their 3000 mmr.

In theory, a yellow rank SWF team could be scored as highly as a competitive killer just because of the idiocy of the current matchmaking and pip system.

  • I've seen competitive Hag trials and played against wannabe comp teams that like to bully randoms, she's not that great now that survivors have learned patience.

Yay, a 40 minute trial and you still lose at the end of it. How fun.

  • This system needs a week or two to settle. Those SWF teams have high MMR scores because they've been beating bad killers over and over again and it's been boosting their score. Same as with a lot of killers, I'm willing to bet plenty of off-peak killers are getting their butts handed to them.

Just because it’s working as intended doesn’t make it good. This will ruin the new player experience

If it was working as intended then the new player experience would be the best it's ever been.

It says its gathering data. Doesnt say it wont start at 0.

What exactly do you think that means? Are you really so embarrassed at being wrong that you're going to play the semantics game?

  • Blanket QoL, fix scratchmarks and chase sounds so survivors don't get free escapes with Iron Will and scratchmarks don't randomly dissapear. Basically, revert chase mechanics to mid 2019.

  • Spirit is a problem because we see posts like this every other day, and have done for the last two years.

She is miserable to go against because everything is guesses and assumptions. Everything. No some things, like basic m1 looping, but literally everything.

It's as simple as that. This isn't a game where that's acceptable, clearly, or else it wouldn't nearly be so hated.

Well, Scott and Xeno tested it and as far as I know Scott is very critical about everyone who claims to say something about Spirit. However Scott confirmed that Xeno was able to tell his phases "almost every time.".

Just because people with more than 10.000 hours did not know about that trick means nothing. People in LoL discovered crazy moves on Lee Sin years after his release that Lee Sin mains did never know about. Just because you do a thing daily does not mean that you are perfect or that there are no tricks and secrets for you anymore...need to be open minded here.

The question is if this is something we, the regular player, can do or if it is just something that players like Xeno can do.

But even if we can not do it that does not mean that there is no indication. I can not do certain calculations in my head but that does not mean that they do not exist, right?

The fact that such a skilled and experienced player's wasn't getting it 100% of the time means its not really much of a tell. This is DbD, not a fighting game, and just as with her footsteps this is an unintended effect that isn't really that useful for the majority of players who aren't even able to go into private trials to study a particular killers animations for hours on end.

A borderline unnoticeable and easily missable glitch in a characters animation cycle that takes a hell of a lot of practice to pick out of the normal animations isn't a tell and it isn't counterplay.

  • Not really. If you're right on top of her you can see her shards glow, and I mean right on top. On the other side of a pallet isn't close enough.

There's also the whole animation thing, but to be perfectly honest it's completely bullshit. It's so easy to miss that 10,000 hour survivor mains didn't even know her "animation reset" was a thing.

  • Yes, because I want all of you to suffer like I've suffered, because then the Devs will also suffer and this ######### game will actually change so "high MMR" play isn't the worst thing ever.

  • I know this is a joke post, but really I don't like the idea of mocking people for "losing" as the far more difficult side.

Unless you really want survivor ques to breach the one-hour mark, that is.

No, maybe, not necessary, sweeping generalization, also wrong game sense exists, wrong, not if you focus on gens.

Yeah, and that trust results in the Killer losing because they'll all be slamming 3 gens at a time because they know their friend is looping the Killer.

Here's a thought, how about you provide some actual evidence for your denials that doesn't rely on luck?

Yeah, and that trust results in the Killer losing because they'll all be slamming 3 gens at a time because they know their friend is looping the Killer.

What you're saying is that solo que is fine because once in a hundred games you get a good team that doesn't need babysitting.

Edit: and that solo doesn't need to waste slots on info perks, which is objectively wrong.

  • You're trying to use one issue to discredit another. Bad survivors and solo que being awful are two completely different things.

  • They both absolutely sucked and are incredibly survivor-sided. Can't find a gen instantly? Who gives a shite, every pallet is safe, stealth is extremely easy and the killer cannot cut you off. The rework just added more pallets and opened the top-side a bit.

and Wraith, Legion, even Trapper? They all may be hard to master in higher levels (esp. Trapper) but picking them up is easy and their power is easy to understand and execute.

Spirit is very easy to pick up and you don't need to master her to absolutely destroy the significant majority of teams with genuine ease. In order to do even remotely as well as any of the other killers listed, you have to put in a lot of time and effort, even Freddy. You don't with spirit.

  • @solidhex said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2253490#Comment_2253490

I don't think she is the easiest or one of the easiest killers in the game, with or without Stridor. I think she is easier to get good with than many top tier killers but there is a reason all the boosted sweaty killers have used mostly Freddy before his nerf for ez win.

Imo there are 2 kinds of people who hate Spirit or say she's too easy, boring etc.:

    1. Players with a lot of experience: Spirit is a killer that rewards experience and game sense. Since she hasn't really a difficult mechanic to learn (like Nurse, Billy, Blight), the things you require are a good observational skill and prediction skills/ experience/ game sense. She is also simple in the meaning of that she's a pure chase killer. If you started with the game in 2016 and picked Spirit up 3 years later, you probably will have had some success immediately, because the abstract power mechanic that not only involves fine observation but also guessing/ predicting, won't pose such a big challenge for you as for someone who just started with the game.
    2. Players who don't like the abstract mechanic that is involved while playing as her or against her, visual types. Hope that doesn't sound rude but some people also just can't think out of the box. And no i don't think you can prevent every hit by doing this, if you're injured and don't have much space to run into, you will go down.

Spirit has crazy potential and is IN THEORY nearly unbeatable if all of your predictions are right, but IN PRACTICE most of the Spirits will make mistakes. One of the arguments when people actually win against a Spirit is always "no, she was just bad", and while i think it's stupid it's also correct in some way. If she's making no mistakes you have no chance. But getting on this level takes a lot of experience. I'm still not there, as i'm losing nearly as many games with her as with other killers. But i'm pretty sure a lot more people would play her if she would promise the safe 4k everytime without risk.

Btw i would be fine with a nerf for her add ons and maybe give her some kind of glow when she phases. Only so this discussion is finally ending. Then everyone will focus on Nurse probably.

Freddy, Bubba and Myers are the only killers I can think of that are easier than Spirit, and none of them carry the same effort:reward ratio she does except perhaps Bubba now that he's been buffed and Freddy doesn't have Forever Freddy.

  • It doesn't really do much on killers whom are problematic with Tinkerer. Killers like Blight, Nurse and Spirit are always perfectly easy to spot because they make so much noise, so they can't use it to sneak up.

Bubba is the only killer it's kind of problematic on, but honestly Bubba is a bigger problem because of how easily and freely he removes all resources from an area, making Ruin/Tinkerer camping that much more effective.

I'm at the point where I don't even want to play solo anymore. I mainly stick to killer.

Still waiting on those solo "buffs" that are supposed to level the playing field to make killer balance easier...

Luckily, I play on AU servers, so the ######### awful climate that makes me want to play nothing but ######### Blight and Spirit just so I don't have to play stupidly perfect just to stand the slightest arseholing chance agaisnt the ######### insanity that is a ######### 4 minute stupid arseholing gen speed average that makes me want to beat all the ######### entitled wankers around the head with the stupid MMR system so this idiotic game isn't so bloody frustrating even when it's ######### balanced because then everyone has to suffer my pain and we can get some basic QoL buffs makes solo que actually quite pleasant because I usually get matched with a competent SWF team and we do the gens in decent time and have a solid experience.

Unfortunately, it also means I often wait half an hour for a survivor trial. I wonder ######### why.

Edit: To clarify, that's AU servers at peak times.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again, if I want an easy win I'll take a 5000 hour group of solo's over a 200 hour swf any day.

Solo's have weaker perks by necessity, they can't trust their teammates, they don't know how each other plays, they have near-zero realistic co-ordination, they have to make wild guesses and assumptions that can and will lose entire trials, they regularly trip over each others feet, they take inherently longer doing gens and totems because they have to search what's already been searched...

4 amazing solo players randomly loading into a trial are relying on pure luck to win. 4 amazing survivors, that have played together and know each other, even without comms, can at least trust each other.

  • Pig is far too RNG reliant and gets completely destroyed by predropped pallets, it's too frustrating to play her on AU servers. Even if they aren't trying to slam gens to avoid the beartraps (or just because it's AU and that's what we do down here, which is why I actually find solo que so enjoyable) you only get to dash once and then every pallet is instantly dropped because they know you know how to use her dash and they don't want to mess with a pig that can dash.

No, the devs saw the issue, even made an entire stream about it, how it is suppose to be (on the right) instead of what it is now (on the left) in this image (literally from their stream btw):

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/M9W2W0RHUZDL/hatchets.jpg

so they changed it to the right image, making it more act like it should.....then they somehow messed that up entirely, reverted it back to the beachball and never touched it again.

This is one of the reasons why the statement "we tested it internally and it did not work/we did not like it" coming from the devs holds zero value for me.

The best part is that they could just shrink in the sides and turn the ball into a disk but they don't want people who have worked on game engines before to know that.

  • Because people don't understand that its best to let these things play out so everyone has a chance to vent and no particular community gets officially victimised.

Basically, it's the mods jobs to keep the peace. The quickest and easiest way to do that is by censoring volitile topics before they get out of hand, which is what's expected of them by the ones in charge, however in doing that people don't have a chance to release their feelings and it pushes them further into their own "camps" because they feel targeted. A lot of people like to use the argument that letting people fight is bad, but to an extent that isn't true because people need to release feelings instead of getting forcibly stoppered in "public" and only being able to explode in private, where their ideas and self-narrative are reinforced by like-minded and often equally deluded people instead of dealt with properly.

Of course, there's just not enough mods to allow for that sort of thread monitoring, meaning that arguments often get out of hand and go from healthy fighting to unhealthy fighting insanely quickly, so the truly volitile topics just get deleted.

  • It's like the Devs saw the complaints for Huntress' beach balls and thought "Well, better nerf Plague and Slinger a bit"

  • A SWF party with Plunderers/Appraisal is incredibly unfair. I know, because I've done it lots and the amount I pull a ######### key is insane, a few times I've gotten a pink key with blood amber, and even more than that I get medkits that I give out like the healing fairy.

Edit: to clarify, I almost always get a purple or pink key, often multiple keys, and always at least a green key because I guess that's just stats for you.

  • To be fair, that's not the worst translation from cinematic to in-engine model that this game has. In fact, it's probably one of their best.

  • Physically, probably Jeff, but I shave, have shorter hair and am a woman, but it's hard to find tall, tubby trans women in videogames.

Personality... Yeah, probably also Jeff but without the drinking. I like a quiet life of art with my pets.

Biggest male crush, also Jeff. Guess I'm a narcissist.

  • What you're asking for is for the Devs to make a ridiculously overpowered killer.

It's the same problem I have with Xenomorphs, everyone keeps talking about how cool it would be to add one but it's just going to be ######### lame. Oh, look, it's the fast, agile, terrifying insect-monster that moves very slowly, can't climb things and randomly put people on hooks.

  • You've forgotten forced bleed-outs, kebabing, t-bagging, solo-preying, and general bullying.

Using a flashlight isn't toxic. Binding it to scroll wheel and running around harassing the killer when you SWF mates have done 4 of the 5 gens is.

  • Uh, maybe further down the line when there's more representation and stereotypes aren't such a big deal and also the survivors are even more diluted so I don't have to see a glorified gangster nearly as often.

I don't blame you. From what I can tell there's not much more to the story anyway. Streamer acted dumb, or at least in a way that was deemed offensive, there's some disagreement as to whether his resulting punishment was fair, the end.

They shouldn't be. From what I can tell they're doing exactly what they're supposed to.

I meant for not doing it quick enough. I've also been a moderator, albiet not for a professional company, I know how BS and unfair The Gods Of The Forum can get.

  • Fun Gens.

A game mode where instead of holding m1 for 80 seconds, you scavenge for parts across the map.

  • Wait, who in this narrative you've woven is supporting the Devs?

  • I hope the mods aren't getting in trouble with their overlords.

Kinda off topic but i feel like bite the bullet and self care will be really good.

Only for the killer. A survivor hiding for 32 seconds isn't good news.

Now, with the other perk that heals you 50% off of hook, that sounds spicy.

  • The grunts of pain will be, but I bet the healing sound won't be.

  • I'd prefer they just add contextual callouts. Walk up to a totem, "hey, totem here!" Ping goes up at the survivors feet

  • I can't, I'm sick of playing killer but my survivor ques take 20+ minutes.

I mentioned this somewhere a few minutes ago (I've popped into a few similar threads so I can't recall which) but I've been a moderator on a professional gaming forum, I understand (to an extent, as I don't know the whole story yet) what they're going through. Moderators aren't just there to delete specific instances of rule-breaking, they have to also generally keep the peace. Whatever's going on right now is obviously a big blustery deal and they're just trying to chill things out. I've been where they are, it's a thankless job that a lot of people don't fully understand. Try not to be too angry with them or take deletions personally. They're just doing what they were put in their positions to do.

I don't actually think this one is in the mods. Really, the best thing to do is let it play out so everyone blows off steam and stops giving a shite, deleting and banning as needed. This reeks of following policies that weren't intended for such... times? Controversies?

One literally mods for a streamer that broke the tos of mocking other fog whisperers.

Then evidence should be DM'd to a bhvr representative.

  • Personally, I don't shoot the messengers. This is a company issue, not a mod issue.

  • As far as I can tell, it's actually not against the forum rules. The rules clearly state we are not to discuss people's bans or name-and-shame, which I haven't actually seen yet since no-one is banned or naming anyone for the purposes of shaming.

  • The occasional balanced matchmaking. It's nice to go into a trial and have a good time, even of it's just because I'm playing Blight and don't have to do everything 100% perfectly.

  • The stupid part is that aa much as I dislike him, he's not even close to being the worst or most despicable person in that program. Hopefully they reconsider the reasons they provided for kicking him, or this is the start of The Cleansing Of The Fog.

Edit: To clarify, I don't really think the Devs needed to take any action, this was a balance squabble that got out of hand when one person didn't know hot to provide proper evidence or take criticism.

I'm saying it doesn't really make her better if the survivors do not use IW. Play her for 5 games without and then with Stridor. I dropped it in the last 3 months whenever i played her, then i equipped it again because IW annoyed me and made me lose games but I get confused by the super loud moanings and often go out of phase to early or choose the wrong side of a wall/ pallet. It may be good in showing you the general direction of a survivor when you phase around but especially against good ones in chases it gets very confusing because you can't really tell if they just backtracked or so. You have to focus on other signs which makes Stridor redundant. Most of the experienced Spirit players i talked to told me you're better off using the perk slot for something else.

So you don't think it's at all a problem that it makes the easiest and most hated of the top killers even more accessible to the point of being one of, if not the, easiest killers in the game?

  • @SoapNSpook said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2253436#Comment_2253436

It happens too often, and it's definitely not a second chance, otherwise killer one-shot perks and powers can be called the same. They aren't literally second chance but they take any ability for fun gameplay by taking away survivors ability to do anything

Yeah, you need more experience with the game. Exposing survivors still requires the killer to catch them within the time limit, almost always as a basic m1 killer. It isn't really comparable to second chance perks, let alone the perk that exists purely to rectify mistakes with no actual counterplay that some people don't understand how to use and instead try to use it to dodge hits.

  • Is this terrible bait or someone that's just gotten exhausted in the ground because they misused their second chance?

Oh boy..Never thought I'd see the day where someone was saying Third Seal is a problem 🤣. I'm intamently familiar with that because I use infectious and slug a lot. I also know the entire team has to completly ######### up for me to slug the entire team.

No, they just have to be solo's that can't physically see the downed survivor and it's a free win. I've done it plenty myself, it removes the skill aspect of DbD and replaces it with "should have had Comms". It doesn't even work on a basic SWFs, its purely a solo-predation tactic because, once again, they can't even see the general area where the survivor was downed, let alone see the survivor.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2253364#Comment_2253364

Can you not find the totem...? Nor does knock out make it impossible. It has a range

Have you really never seen this? At all?

Killer finds and downs someone, infectious reveals anyone that could potentially see the downed survivor through Knockout, no-one but the downed survivor knows Third Seal is in play (if it even is, it's basically overkill). Killer proceeds to just slug everyone to death. If Third Seal is in the trial, finding it is almost impossible and breaking it is probably a death sentence.

Or, the killer runs Third Seal/Undying and does the same thing but slightly later in the trial.

1 … 29 30 31 32 33 … 165
