Why do most debuff perks on Killer apply on M1 ?

Just to name a few, We got "Sloppy Butcher", "Surge", "Hex: Third Seal" , "Knock Out" etc. With Nemesis's perk called Eruption, All generators you kicked will Pop when you DOWN a Survivor.

Why is Nemesis's Eruption different from all the other ones? Why can't Surge just activate when I down someone with Shred as Demo? Michael on Tier 3 can apply Sloppy Butcher but a raging Oni can't.

Why is it like this, Devs?

  • Bc then they dont need to revisit all this perks if a new killer comes out. They could have a broken combo with a killer power if not.

How does Nurse (an S tier Killer) being able to use Sloppy Butcher properly more OP than Oni not applying it while bonking survivors.

  • Because why would you be affected by Sloppy Butcher when Oni smashes you down with power. @TicTac said main reason. They would need to go revisit lot of perks.

Then isn't it unfair that Michael's on Tier 3 can apply sloppy butcher while Oni can't?

Edit: If they made Michael in 2021, it's guaranteed that it will behave like Oni's power that Tier 3s attack are not normal M1s.

Its about broken combos i think. Some which break the game.

  • I can understand it for perks that apply when you HIT a survivor with your basic attack. But Downing a survivor, it should apply whether it's basic or not. Demo's own perk Surge literally stops you using his own power.

It's not about broken combos or anything like that, it's about the modularity of code chunks. M1 attacks are the same for all killers, meanwhile every power behaves in a different way and is a piece of code per se.

It's a lot easier this way, otherwise for every killer they'd have to add tons of conditions depending on the power and the specific perk (trapper's traps?)

Oni has dash, Shape has 115%. If Oni demon strike can work with M1 perk like STBFL, Unrelenting, Sloppy, Franklin...you get the idea.

On the other hand, what if Nurse/Spirit post blink/phase attack doesnt work with M1. What will happens?

  • A lot of perks have that so that killers with strong injure powers can't spam debuffs. Admittedly Surge makes no sense when you actually stop to think about it - it's got a cooldown to prevent Oni, Plague, Nurse or Billy from proccing it a bunch - but perks like Third Seal or Knockout that shouldn't even be in the game? Yeah, glad they have limitations.

Yh like i said. Without the possibility for broken combos they could just treat every special attack the same while coding.

    Consistency and fairness.

Why should Billy get 2 ways to trigger Surge, but Clown only gets one way to trigger Surge? (For example).

I know Clown is king but... I don't think that the right analogy...

It's like saying "Why should Billy get 2 ways to trigger Surge but Nurse/Spirit get only 1 way to trigger Surge"

That makes no sense at all. Why should you need multiple ways to trigger it as Clown? You get it every time you get a down.

If they make it not dependant on basic attack, so will killers like Billy.

It's not fair how it is.

  • Because we can't have killers using their power, obviously.

Noticed how using the killers power also impacts negatively on the emblems?

Weird how they’ve never changed that. But from what I understand it doesn’t effect Myers or ghostface

  • Sloppy can remain a basic attack. But perks like Surge and Eruption that require a down should trigger with M2s. And its 'not consistency the devs are afraid of making a perk too strong.

  • Eruption only triggers on basic attacks as well.

  • Because Legion.

After Legion's release a lot changed.

Yea my bad, didn't notice it too that the Perks is M1 only...
