  • The only time I ever see more than one BT from the same person is a multiple-survivor basement rescue. Which is a situation that shouldn't really be in the game in the first place any more, but whatever. Devs be Devs.

  • Haddonfield has always been the go-to SWF map for fun and fair teams, it just lost popularity with most after the Balanced Landing normalisation.

  • I guess I follow the mentality if setting dumb challenges for myself and achieving them.

  • That's a good idea. Not sure how to execute it without it feeling unfair for the killer, since there's plenty of loops where you need to force a pallet drop, but I like adding new chase dynamics

  • Yeah, I understand. I prefer the times when I feel like me and my opponents are fighting for control, which is why I like Blight so much.

  • I would probably expect Sloppy Butcher, Nurses Calling, BBQ, and Corrupt Intervention. I feel like the play is going to be getting people injured and catching them with Victor, so Nurses/Sloppy is a bit of a no brainer in that case. BBQ to catch people in the distance and Corrupt to not lose the early game and I think thats an okay build. But it depends on what happens when they release, for example it seems like the counterplay to Victor is just jump in a locker to prevent a snowball PTB-Oni style.

  • It can be hard to learn new killers, especially against experienced survivors. But, it's a casual game and there's really no reward for winning. Add into that the fact that anyone proud of themselves for beating up a clearly inexperienced killer doesn't exactly have a worthy opinion and it becomes much easier to stop caring, although I will admit that it doesn't change the fact that it's hard to learn when you're forced to jump in the deep end with lead shoes.

  • Crossplay literally cut 2/3rds off my que times. I don't really think that's the culprit

  • She needs drawbacks, so yes. Also not a big deal, I think I've been pallet stunned as Nurse less times than I can count on my hand

  • Haddonfield and The Game, with a side helping of Azarov's.

  • Prove Thyself has always been a bit of a pseudo-meta perk, mostly used in SWF teams at high-level play, but also by some daring solo's that use other perks like Bond or Better Together. It's a solid counter to Ruin and PGTW, since working in pairs with Prove Thyself halves the amount of time the killer has to interrupt the gen.

If you really hate it, run perks like Discordance to interrupt or Infectious Fright to punish being together.

  • Adrenaline. It's free gen time and late-game pressure, although with some not inconsiderable risk if you're trying to play into it.

Aight so @megswifey @MadLordJack you both taking about a swf? Feel free to add me in-game (right now I'm called the "Pope of the Donkerydoo" and if you're on steam check it's me because my pfp is Chiaki Nanami) or on discord at Karu_TC#2813 and yes for one I actually gave the right discord tag.

Sounds great, I'll add you in discord. I'm "Redshirt" on Steam at the moment, so... Feel free to sort through all the other people as unoriginal as me. Also @megswifey if you want to add me on discord (Madly Jack#0975) feel free

Edit: or in game, but like I said that'll be a nightmare

Your a great person too Jack, also... You actually did that in the school to the Principle!?

See? The evil forum thingy deleted your name. What a horrible AI.

Also, yes, I mentioned uncomfortable situations such as being called to the principles office and throwing people under the bus and reread my comment... And it sounded like I was meaning that everyone was getting called into the principles office wherapon said principle was murdering them by throwing them in front of a moving bus. It was wierd. I stand by it.

  • I honestly think it's Hag. Perks don't really help her that much, they're more like icing than the cake they are for other killers. When I play her, it's rare I get value out of any of them regardless of which perks I bring. Except BBQ, because it's easy to get 4 stacks.

  • Very nice stealth-oriented-but-still-good-all-rounder-as-well build, you're going to give a lot of killers a lot of headaches trying to find and chase you. Just remember, Iron Will doesn't stop you from dropping blood, so be careful on surfaces where it's easy to track

Shout out to everyone though on this forum, ye fun, hate liking, whining bunch of goofy goobers! we laugh, we epic battle, disagree, show the love, but yer all awesome :)

also shout out to @Raccoon have you seen that racoon gif of his candy floss disappearing? I hope this never happens to you in your racoon life time ^^

That was tha happiest ending I have ever seen. Also, you're pretty awesome too.

  • I actually thought this was going to be about using aura reading to spy on tilting teammates, but nope. This is much worse! Or better, as you said it depends on your team

  • I think last time I did this I threatened to have a school principle murder everyone, so... Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and not do that again. Also definitely going to forget a bunch of people, but the ones that really come to mind are @TheClownIsKing for being the most thoughtful and rational forum member, @megswifey for being just the most wholesome, @Xyvielia, @GoodBoyKaru and @OniWantsYourMacaroni for always brightening up my day. And no one else. None. No more. No-one else gets a mention for being awesome.

Except @notstarboard @PigMainClaudette @Slashstreetboy@Orion @Respectfulnancymain @Aven_Fallen @Buttercake @Jyn_Mojito and a whole heap of people that I swear this message just randomly deleted and that I totally didn't forget your names.

Also, I am totally down to play with you all if you want the kind of teammate that will bring a loaded medkit and never use it on themselves.

    Seriously, it's become a problem.

  • Hag has out-of-chase counterplay, but it's difficult to pull off. If you know she's out of range of her traps, or see that she's carrying someone, you can break her web by running through and setting off the traps with no fear of her teleporting over. However, that kind of requires you to know where the traps are in the first place, so it's not really that viable in most cases. Still, it is something to remember

I hope you didn’t think I was implying you post millions of sarcastic posts. I was speaking generally of these forums.

I know, but also I do post a lot of sarcasm, so...

Not gonna lie. Thought this was yet gonna be another millionth post with a sarcastic title, ranting about something.

I agree. It is heartwarming when this stuff occurs.

You know, I thought about making some scathingly sarcastic comment about how sarcastic I often am, but I'm not in that mode right now. So, I'll just leave you with a written eye roll. And I hope you have fun trials.

    Eye roll.

That's nice... it can be the same on console (if you take the time)

Had a match a week or so ago playing survivor... Map was Dead Dog Saloon

Killer was a new nurse player... it was rough for that player so I had EGC take me...

    Had a conversation after that

I'm glad. I wish console could have access to the endgame chat as well, given that you can just collapse it if you don't want to see toxicity

  • The tactical play. The fact that skill only takes you so far - you need to know what to do, when to do it, and whom to do it to. I also like the diverse off-meta builds and the fact that I enjoy both sides, but the tactical nature of so much of the game is what keeps me playing.

  • Not without mega-buffing killer. It's a double whammy of survivor being easier and letting you play with friends - neither of which I think are a problem, but they do add up to a killer deficiency.

  • I am just about to P3 Zarina, and I plan on playing her from 0 to ALL perks just because I'm a masochist (and I like starting over in games and that's as close as you can get in DbD). So, in the very least, you have someone else on that journey.

Speak for yourself, I land punishment all the time. I never even bother faking the power because I know I can land it. Maybe try practicing.

When survivors are about as far away as a max-range lunge, they have enough reaction time to dodge the ranged attack. You can still get big brain shots through walls and smaller loops, but against attentive survivors it's almost impossible in any other situation because they don't even bother trying to juke the hit unless, well, you're within melee range.

  • I hav been putting every single point I have into Zarina for the last 4 days. I have been running WGLF+Cake/BBQ+Pudding and getting between 50-80k points a trial.

I have almost got to level 50.

I'm not sure about the hypocrisy part, but what the OP is saying is that people will use their Rank to justify certain opinions when Rank, in itself, is extremely varied and unreliable.

Oh, I'm aware. Just not sure what that has to do with me, my opinions, the opinions of the developers, or the general facts about the game itself

That's pretty hypocritical of you to say - Irrelevant until everyone brings up ranks in every other thread simply because they think it conviences their argument

    Please, do explain my hypocrisy.

I can cleanse all totems by myself 2-3 minutes into a game depending on the map when I run small game. On top of that it's easier to do it solo rather then trying to figure out which spots on the map your teammates are talking about and where noed might be because you only cleansed 4 out of 5

Good for you. When I do the same I get sacrificed alongside everyone else because half of us were doing bones and not enough generators were popping.

  • @HellDescent said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1779208#Comment_1779208

    What is it then?

Edit: and if it's not worth it people should not be complaining

Cleansing totems requires a team to be co-ordinated or lucky. Solo teams genuinely cannot coordinate because the game is literally designed around survivors having no inherent ability to work together, so they have to rely on pure luck.

  • People do run those perks. It's not worth it. The problem isn't just finding totems.

  • Casual game ranks Vs competitive game ranks. Interesting ,but ultimately irrelevant.

  • I love how people actually believe this and go on to completely ignore all contrary evidence.

Like the fact that the requirements to rank up are literally the exact same, that I see just as many complete potatoes with crossplay icons as without, and that I get destroyed by crossplay icons as much as by PC players.

PC Master Race for life. So superior we have to make shite up to stay on top.

  • Iri Head is fine. Annoying, but fine. It's literally just a giant nerf for the sake of instadowns.

Iri Head Build, where you combine it with Infantry Belt, is OP because you can just fling 3 instadown hatchets, which not only lets a good Huntress snowball but also lets a bad one get 3 chances to instadown you.

  • Because cleansing totems is only viable in a SWF, or against a really, really bad killer. It doesn't matter what you bring in to help, it just wastes too much time because either a bunch of people are looking for totems where someone else already has, or it's just one person basicly throwing the game by spending longer than a generator's worth of time cleansing them and also getting chased by the killer because aura reading.

  • It feels like it's there for two reasons - firstly, it allows you to protect your totems without running a third Hex perk. Secondly, so that Undying actually does something itself that isn't just "respawn ya hexes and take all their tokens."

  • Why do survivors complain about killer meta perks after abusing the crap out of their own second-chance builds?

  • I literally watched a Ghostface ger robbed. As the hooked survivor. I'm not complaining too loudly since I was getting basement camped, but the fact is that I had the highest ping in that lobby and I saw the Ghostface start the grab animation before randomly deciding that life is better lived with knives.

Edit: as in, for the rest of the trial he was just stabbing and didn't do anything else to the point he let someone crawl out the gate. I don't know if he was bugged but we couldn't see the animation, or if he was just really wierd.

  • On killers with a good early game, stacked with one or two other slowdown perks (like corrupt/sloppy) it can be a hidden gem.

  • Sorry, I know this is off topic, but I love the idea of the Devs catering to an audience they officially aren't supposed to have. Something about that really amuses me.

I'm fine with it, btw, most slashers are about teen murder and I'm no hypocrite. Or whatever it would be if I were fine with film but not games.

  • I would prefer random number buffs and nerfs every week. DS now only lasts 10 seconds, but Second Wind activates after 1 taps worth of healing and heals you in 2 seconds! Let's see what's balanced and what's not in the realm of absolute chaos!

No, but seriously, that really would be a good way of testing balance.

  • It comes down to two things: A lot of people don't use it properly, and instead of using it to try and kill everyone, they use it as endgame-insurace to try and kill ANYONE. And given that it's such a big power spike, they usually aren't very good and just end up camping someone to death with instadowns and 119% movement speed. That is the thing I hate about NOED, but if the killer is actually still trying to kill everyone they can then I'm more on the side of "well, this is bad for us but at least the killer isn't facecamping someone to death."

The second thing is that you get it completely for free. You can (and I have seen people do this) AFK the entire game, til the gens are done, and still get it. It is a huge, huge power spike that, unlike every other killer power spike in the game, is completely unearned. I'm less annoyed by that, but I hate it when people say "oh, it got counterplay." It doesn't. Cleansing all 5 dull totems will lose the game unless you are in a super coordinated team, usually a SWF.

Generally, run whatever. It's the player that makes problems, not the perks or killers or add-ons or whatever.

  • Well, first let's just get this out of the way: don't bother healing unless you know for a fact that the Legion is very far away and you can spare the time. Okay, that's the generic disgusting answer out of the way, so let's get to some stuff you may have not heard a million times.

Personally? Game sense is a big one, I find. Knowing whether or not they're running at you in Frenzy, and knowing how much Frenzy time the have left, is a pretty big deal. And I'm not meaning you look at them and see their stance - I'm talking about those moments when you see someone get Deep Wounds and you just know you're the next tasty morsel. If you take off and make enough distance, that's a Deep Woundsing that you've avoided. If it's a good Legion and you ran away from the gens, even better - they'll know to drop chase, and you can get right back to the gen.

Another one is knowing you're gonna get hit. If you have a weak pallet you can get out of the way, it's often a good idea to try and stun them out of their power. You only really want to do this when you're the first person in the frenzy chain and there's a couple of survivors within distance, because a lot of the time you cannot stop yourself from taking a hit. But, it can help prevent your teammates from getting injured, and in my experience as Legion that's actually a pretty fair trade for a weak pallet (like a Badham junk tile or something - I wouldn't try it at Shack or a jungle gym, that's a very valuable pallet). If you don't have any weak pallets, just literally run away and ignore all tiles. Worst-case scenario, you take the hit, get the speed, they still chase you down but then they eat a 4-second stun because Legion is god-tier.

And this is a wierd tip, but if you're getting unhooked and the Legion runs up in Frenzy, don't take a hit. It's not like BT, the killer just immediately hits your rescuer and now you have to mend at some point. I normally wouldn't say this, but I literally win trials because people try it.

One last tip - play safe. This destroys almost every killer but a small handful, and against Legion it is completely busted. There's nothing the epitome of M1 killer can do if you don't even allow for mindgames.

  • And we have no real information on the buffs. Numbers a crucial in DbD, and we haven't been given any. Who cares if Victor can hold survivor in a locker if it only lasts 10 seconds.

  • We don't know. Right now, as if the initial PTB release, the answer is nothing useful.

However, assuming that their counterplay gets the nerf hammer, Victor can pull of some amazing stunts. You can get people over smaller obstacles, you have some reasonable stealth potential, you can shut down a lot of main buildings, you can use Victor as bait, and my personal favourite: basic m1 chase til injure, then send out the gremlin to murderise (and hope that no-one else is nearby, or else Victor is toast and fails by default). But still, when it works it REALLY works. And I imagine it's pretty scary to go against as well.

  • I honestly thought this challenge would be a cake walk, and when I stopped getting awful trials it was, but I genuinely got a series of phantom saws against good survivors and it almost broke me. The one time I actually try to get 7 saws (which usually happens naturally, because I basically only play M2 Billy) and I get bugs on bad maps on good survivors. And also I magically forgot how to curve, but that actually wasn't that big of a deal because I was getting Hold-W trials.

  • Give those same survivors voice chat and they become the classic "unbeatable" SWF's. When survivors co-ordinate without using their brains, gens fly by. All it takes is a more assertive friend to say "hey, do something" and suddenly something gets done.

It also made him much more of a prick to deal with if he 3 gen’d the team. Especially on Gideon, and because snapping out of it only reduced madness back down to tier 2. Double stack passive madness add ons, and doing the last gen was just horrible.

That was a massive, gigantic, glaring understatement with flashing neon signs and fireworks to boot.
