If we’re talking who I’d actually be, it’d be Wraith. Dude went insane with horror and grief when he found out he’d been murdering people. Probably the only way I’d wind up committing murder on the scale most killers need to, and I’ve never had natural murderous tendencies or devotion that blinded me to the horrors I’d wind up committing like the ones who didn’t mass murder. I’d be ok with that though, bing bong man is quite enjoyable to play and verse imo. Just give me the glowy Halloween weapon for him and I’m good to go.
-
I'm colorblind. On an outdoor map, Bloodhound is the only way I can see blood. If I had to take a Wraith perk, may as well take one that'll help on more maps than not for me.

They should return the killer adepts to 4 sacrifices in a match, I don't even understand why it was ever changed to begin with.
It’s always been tied to the ranking system.
Back in the oldest system, where pure points dictated rank up/down, merciless was getting 20k points, 5k in each category (you could still get 8k per category but only the first 5k counted). Points were harder to come by so this wasn’t quite as easy as it sounds, but it was still pretty easy.
Middle ages were the Victory cube system, which cared 100% about kills. 4k = merciless. Honestly, for the achievements I liked this one. For ranking I hated it.
Now it’s based on the emblems. Which are fairly contrived and don’t work equally well for every killer (like I pointed out above, insta down killers are literally punished in chaser for using their instadowns)
-
Don’t forget if the killer has an instadown your chaser score is punished by using it because it’s one chase verse two!
Got Adept Oni the one game I didn’t use his power at all since in the others I couldn’t get iridescent chaser. Definitely showed I “mastered” that character by pretending he didn’t have a power...

Is it every basement? I noticed the two games I had it happen to me I was unable to struggle while on the killers back.
It’s every basement but inconsistent. To paraphrase someone who tested it more, “I’ve have every hook in the basement glitch me, I’ve had every hook in the basement not glitch me. I’ve had games where my friend was affected and I wasn’t and vice Versa”

To be fair, I don't think the bug was known on release. There was only one "Known Issue" on the list when the Patch Notes came out, and that was the Russian localisation one. The rest have been added since then, presumably based on player feedback and additional internal testing.
Still, it's pretty gamebreaking, so I expect/hope that they'll be working to fix it ASAP.
Got it, I admittedly didn’t see the patch notes until the bug was on it.
In that case I gotta question the QA...speaking from someone who does software dev, our QA department are so nit picky it really gets on my nerves, but they do great work and find things comparable to this (except not game related) in no time at all...
-
I’d love an eta if nothing else. It’s a “known” bug, but those can take up to a month to fix depending. Will we have a fix this week or is basement screwed for a while?

You can still use his power for Demon Dash. Just tap M1 to do a regular hit instead of a 1 hit lunge.
Generally not worth it. Slowed to start, slowed when you cancel, slowed when the power ends. In the end time saved on the average map really isn’t much. Something like Azarov’s I could see being good for it, but not so much maps like Abattoir
-
I agree - banning for it isn’t practical.
Then again, releasing a known bug this bad is also not practical, and we don’t have an eta on when it’ll be fixed so it feels like kind of a moot point anyway.
-
If the speed boost was removed completely in exchange for the infinite “balancing of your landing” that OP keeps stressing, I can see it being reasonable to not be an exhaustion perk. As is with three things in one exhaustion perk I think the nerf was completely justified. No other exhaustion perk does anything for you when it’s on cd, this just brought it in line.

That doesn't help with his Adept. And sadly, his power on console is still useless.
For his Adept, don’t use his power. You’re not getting iridescent Gatekeeper regardless, so you can’t afford to hurt your chaser with instadowns. Game I finally got Adept I used his power exactly once, and that was to zoom around the map to find the hatch before the last surv found it.

Killers now have a permament Carrying-music playing, making stealth for survivor even easier, because you can hear them even less.

Nurse: Moves slower than survivors
Nurse: uses blinks bc that's her only way to move fast
Survivors: BLINK SPAM BLINK SPAM BLINK SPAM.
The year is 2021. A Wraith wanders around looking in vain for a survivor waiting for his half minute cooldown on his invis to come back up, lamenting the nerf that came after people complained he spammed his cloak. In the next trial over Hag wishes she could place a trap but to prevent trap spam she’s only allowed two a minute and she already burned both for this minute.
-
Honestly, as much as I want the DC penalties put in, I agree. As is I’ve been not hooking people in the basement as killer and assuming anyone in the basement is lost as surv, but yeah. Can’t blame anyone hooked in the basement for DCing right now. Any other DC is subject to annoyance though.

We will never have to hear another day of "Nurse OP pls nerf" threads ever again though.
It's the small things.
Yeah, it’s interesting that when survivor only players come to these threads they’re consistently saying “Nurse is still broken OP,” but the threads complaining about her being OP are gone. Something seems...wrong, there somehow...almost as if she’s not broken OP anymore but it’s a good sound bite that got a lot of mileage in the past...
-
Definitely depends on rank and location. As an East US/Canada player in green/purple ranks usually my killer queues are instant and my survivor queues take a while. It’s possible that when you’re trying to play there’s too many killers at your rank in your area so it’s having to search for a while. Here the survivor queues are waiting long enough they’ve maxed out their “how far away from our rank can we go?” So killers are routinely fighting survivors colors above them.
-
I’m mostly just sad that they’re giving his default madness literally nothing new (and possibly taking away the randomly placed skillchecks). Still need add ons to do anything cool.
I enjoy him without add ons, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t pretend madness does ######### for me without them

If you're playing a killer that can hide their terror radius or Freddy, I suppose. But otherwise, I can't see it really changing anything. The amount of people that went down to Deep Wounds before was incredibly low. It's not really meant to down them as much as it's meant to delay them, and it still does that. Dare I say it does that even better since you can't do a generator while within the killer's terror radius now.
What about endgame collapse? Before if the BT surv took a hit and the killer peeled off to chase the saver the BT survivor had to mend before going to the exit, stalling them. Now they just run out despite “bleeding out”

I was afraid it would be another “make the killer more “fun to face” (aka beat mercilessly), not to play” change. And from what we’ve seen anyway it sure as hell looks that way. Really concerned now.
-
I say this as someone who prefers killing to surviving...
This would be an awful idea. You’re condemning the person who’s downed first to go to second stage on their first hook guaranteed (each hook phase takes 1 minute). It’s already punishing for the person who gets hooked first as is, making it so they are guaranteed to be dead on their second hook would be absolutely awful.
Edit: I misread. I thought you said on the first hook of the game. You said on anyone’s first hook. Even worse, then. May as well just remove a hook stage since that’s what that perk would do effectively.

I wish survivors got achievments based on the new perks. Like...
"Pick 10 pallets back up with (the perk I forgot the name)"
They don’t like doing ones based on perks since those are intended to be done by anyone. That being said, the perk where running near someone being carried increases their wiggle speed encourages the achievement progress so it does technically synergize.
-
Usual adepts,
Down 75 survivors with Oni’s power
Hook 10 survivors while every other survivor is injured.
Repair the temple generator and escape.
take 30 bodyblocking hits.
-
I was just about to make a thread about this. Yes the mending timer change fixes Nemesis/BoP Legion interaction, but it’s a second buff in the same patch to BT, which is already a meta perk. No more can the killer in EGC smack the BT person and peel off to get the saver, forcing the deep wound person to mend or risk going down before getting to the exit gate. Now just keep running and you’re good!
-
PC Eastern US is the same way. Purple survivor - face almost all green killers. I’m a green killer, get more purple/red than any other color.
-
Imo rank only matters when the individual is actively trying to rank up, because when they’re trying to rank up and they get stuck, that’s where they belong.
I’ve got my rank 1 achieves, I don’t care about rank. I’m a purple survivor currently, and I would wager I’m not nearly as good as people would consider the average purple to be, but I’m not trying to rank up so it’s not indicative of my overall level. I’m also currently a green rank killer when I’d probably be higher if I cared about my rank. As is I’m happy to go easy if a DC happens early, and I’m super inclined to give the hatch if the last person played well and wasn’t a dick, so I’m not ranking up as often as I would be if I were trying.

The Facebook community was introduced to me by my friend. They’re just a bunch of middle age men and women, they are very logical and reasonable. I don’t see many of them ######### the entire time, so I find them respectable. I have Instagram for dbd news, vids, memes and the tiny 500ish followers I have.. a few of them have mentioned it before so it’s built my concern for old bing bong
Not to be disrespectful to them, but if they’re older players it’s entirely possible they struggle to make out Wraith’s outline as he approaches, and if any of them play on Switch there’s apparently a bug making him impossible to see sometimes. If it is eyesight, then I’m sorry but I can’t claim to have much sympathy since as a colorblind player the devs have been decisively uncaring that blood without bloodhound is useless for me on any outdoor map since beta. Vision issues don’t get any care from the devs heh.
Otherwise, it’s pretty objective he’s the weakest stealth killer since he’s the only one without an instadown (Pig isn’t true stealth imo) so I wouldn’t worry about what you see people saying too much.
-
My successful game (Freddy):
Gas Heaven. Got two people to death hook, other two were more annoying than they were worth to focus to death hook. Gens going fast but manageable. Downed death hook person 1 right as the final gen finishes. Exit fairly close, walk over and open it, come back and hook Death hook 1 for blood warden. Death hook person 2 (only other injured one, how I identified them) was in the process of leaving when BW activated, they panicked and, as people tend to do, forgot that BW lets you see them if they’re in the Exit and tried to hide behind a pillar. Other two survs were opening gate 2 on the far side of the map so I was uncontested in my hook.
this was only my second game attempting it, thought it’d take much longer.

Ladies, we get it, "Nurse is so unfun" but you make it sound like she's the ONLY KILLER IN THE GAME WORTH PLAYING! Come on, there are MULTIPLE other killers that can do the job effectively as well!
I know for a FACT that playing the SAME killer, over and over gets unfun progressively. I swap killers from time-to-time for a new experience everytime, and I actually have quite a bit of fun from the change.
And even then, the nurse change doesn't sound that bad, all they did is delay her power by 6 seconds. Honestly, I felt the nerf was gonna come at some point, and here it is. It didn't change her that much, all it did was remove her own tier, and put her... Idk, A at best.
If you're gonna say that nurse is so unfun, maybe it's time to try a different killer, instead of standing next to your main 100% of the time.
Counterpoint: I’ve been saying how unfun Nurse is now as a former nurse main, while playing other killers. Some dropped the game, and I legitimately don’t blame them. I dropped LoL a few years ago after several of my mains got reworked for the worse in quick succession, and that had far more options than DbD. If they only really had fun with Nurse, they’re under no obligation to keep playing.
Besides, even if every single Nurse main was still playing but not playing Nurse anymore, that doesn’t invalidate saying she’s not fun anymore and asking for the rework to get looked at again. Playing other killers than her does not magically make her fine. I’ve played mostly Wraith in the last week, having way more fun than the last couple games I played as Nurse. Doesn’t mean I don’t wish she was fun to play again.
Also “just delaying her power by 6 seconds” doesn’t sound bad on paper, but when you’re in game it’s torturous and feels extremely bad. Can she still 4k? Yep. But damn if it isn’t less fun than playing Leatherface for a daily.
-
Reddit’s DbD community is by and large extremely survivor leaning so large salt rocks need to be taken when looking there. Facebook...I’ll be honest, I’ve never been able to take a Facebook community seriously so...
-
I would be 100% for all killers being available in KYF. I’ve tried unsuccessfully to bring people into the game because of the dual reasons of too much grind and too much paywall past the initial paywall. They see “17 killers (18 after today!)” and get excited, only to be disappointed that they only get 5. Typically we try to run some KYF to showcase some of the killers and get them acquainted with the game, but it’s never stuck, and I know part of it tends to be dissatisfaction that, even if they were to only play with us, they would have a much shallower pool of killers than we would. Opening it up would give new players the chance to try someone and decide they like them enough to buy them...same with vets on the fence about getting a killer.
-
It also seems to look at all people looking for a game at once. So, for example:
4 Man rank 1 SWF queues for a game 3 min before you at rank 13 do. No one is playing killer in red ranks in this example, or all the red rank killers are in game, so our SWF gets lobby simulator for a couple min. Their search goes to purple ranks but no killer available there either.
You now queue just as the game decides any match is ok for our SWF team. Since they’re sending the “any game is ok, high priority request” signal since they’ve been waiting a while, you get sucked into their game super quickly when you queue up.
I can’t confirm this is exactly what’s happening, but a quick killer queue into an imbalanced game...I’m not sure what else could cause that other than the above.
-
Survivors who don’t use my Kindred well. Can see the killer 100% of the time I’m on the hook? Do gens. Let me die, I will take the full 2 min to give you as much time as possible to punish the camp, do NOT save me. Don’t see the aura and can tell from a survivor aura the killer is occupied? Come get me ASAP so we can get everyone back in the game.
Otherwise people who dc the instant they get downed. Annoying on either side. Fortunately this one is being fixed by the new chapter bringing in actual DC penalties!

But the Nurse is still really good though. You just actually have to pay attention to where you are blinking now so you don't waste charges. It's not a nerf. But now it's even harder to learn her, so it's fair that it turns some people away from her. As a Nurse main, it kind of hurts my heart to see so many people beg for a fix on something that isn't bad.
Not to derail my own thread here, but as a former Nurse main, I just straight up find her unfun now. Dropped the character since games with her are more soul destroying than any other killer outside of Leatherface and too many consecutive Huntress games (her song gets to me). Having way more fun with Wraith right now, oddly. So while I will not argue she's still capable of performing in strong hands, I will 100% argue it's a fun problem she has now.

@Usui said:
You realize the reason survivor ques are instant is because there are to many killers right? If I swap over to killer it's at least 5-10 minute que.
You took quite literally the opposite of what I said there. My killer queues are instant but I face ranks colors above me. My survivor queues take a few min and I generally face killers colors below me.
In general I agree with what people are saying. I honestly try to stay in green ranks as killer since go above and it's just a shitshow nowadays. More fun to be had in midranks. Just is frustrating when being in green actually means versing purples and reds.
-
Just had a game where I (purple), two other purples, and a green went against a rank 16. Like, I get matchmaking eventually expands to look for other killers, but was that really the best the game could do? Surely there had to be someone other than the poor Myers we destroyed because he quite simply didn't know the game well enough...
Edit: It's 8 PM EST, there should be more people on now than in a few hours, and that's the best matchmaking could do?
-
When I'm surviving: teammates who don't use my Kindred well. If the killer's tunneling me, I get to go to the next game sooner. Mori same. But if I'm being camped, Kindred is SHOWING that I'm being camped, and people come for the save anyway, now the killer's being rewarded for camping and I'm still just as dead. Punish the behavior if you want to see it go away...I'm broadcasting that you should do gens, go do them and leave.
When I'm killing: People who insist on not leaving until I show up. Seriously, nothing bothers me as killer more than that. If everyone who's still alive is in the exit path, just leave. You're wasting your time, you're wasting my time, and we'd both be having more fun in our next game. Used to be people'd give you hits if you showed up, now it's just click the flashlight, break the knees, and run out. No point at all to it. Just get out. I refuse to show up at exit gates anymore, don't feel like giving free points for nothing.
-
I'll throw in my vote for "hatch not spawning for the last person if two gens haven't been done." It's probably my biggest gripe in how things changed. You can have an amazing game as killer, kill three before they do a gen (or at most one gen), and RNG didn't favor you and the fourth gets out the hatch. Encourages slug even in a curbstomp game.
I get it was to prevent game stalling, but it'd be a lot better if EGC just started if the "dead survs + done gens = 5" formula doesn't allow the hatch to spawn for the final surv. The game's over one way or the other at that point, and people generally agree EGC favors the killer, which it should...and if the killer's done that well or the survivors were too focused on trolling that they didn't get two gens done, then it should be (relatively) easy to catch the fourth one.
I say this as someone who's 100% the achieves in the game (until tomorrow, anyway) so I do play both sides extensively and I hate that change on both sides.
-
Wait, when did the update go through? I was playing just a couple hours ago and still had 10 escapes which was supposed to go down to 5...

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Nurse can 4k still and is still competitive. I have still dropped her as my main killer for the simple reason I have less fun playing her than any other killer in the game. That is not “fine” in my book.
-
I’m mildly sad I didn’t get in that ping post lol.
appreciate the callout OP, but personally I’d rather play...almost any other killer right now. Being punished twice over for using my power just isn’t worth the hassle. On the plus side me dropping Nurse led me to rediscover how much I like Wraith, so...
-
The logic of “there’s no rush” becomes problematic for two reasons.
first and foremost, you’re correct: the archives are not going away, you theoretically have forever to do these. However, the main draw for most will be the bonus rift fragments. Those are only good for this rift. Which shortens the timeline dramatically and starts to highlight why I find these problematic.
Secondly, the devs have stated they want the rift to be finishable through an hour of play a day. While I feel that the current level of fragment gain is too low for that anyway, at the rate of one hour a day, 8 Keys = 8 Games, average game time + queue time + loading time = roughly 4 Keys an hour at most if you play the game after using your key. If you go suicide after using your key, you can get the challenge in an hour and be more rewarded fragment wise for it.
-
Honestly it more or less tells me the tome 4 we saw and were told multiple times that the challenges were potentially placeholders is exactly what we’re getting. If the goal is truly to ramp up the challenge every tome then there’s not much harder they can go than this. Super hard grind or RNG can only be topped by HARDER grind and stupid amounts of RNG.
pretty good job so far.
-
I get The Game disproportionately often. And never when I’m a killer that can utilize it well. Shelter woods I like as both sides by comparison.
