New kindred perk will counter camper and tell you to go gen rush instead hiding bush or wall by doing nothing even if you're hooked or not hooked

I always run Kindred now, trust me, it doesn’t stop dumbasses who altruism lemming when I’m on the hook. I’ve got a recording from a while back where I was hooked for the first time by a Leatherface who refused to go farther than 8 meters from me. I had Kindred, they could see him not leaving. Every. Single. Survivor. Swarmed my hook, easy 4k for him.

If you want camping to stop, you need to stop rewarding the behavior. Kindred helps the intelligent player make intelligent choices, and will do so more after its incoming buff. It doesn’t stop the altruism lemmings from lemming-ing.

  • what I want to see from Nurse specifically is pick rate after rework, for a total of 3 months post rework. Her pick rate for the last 3 months is one of the lower ones, and the final graph doesn’t mention pick rate. Peanits said immediately post rework her pick rate went up as people tried the changes out, and that does make sense, but I want to know if, assuming no further changes, she’s still picked as often as she used to be come January. People are reporting seeing far fewer Nurses post rework, and I’m curious to see if that’s accurate or bias. I know my Nurse doesn’t show up anymore personally, since I don’t find her fun to play anymore, but I’m one player...I’m not indicative of the whole.

  • I had a game where a survivor just straight up gave up on me, as in, ran to the basement and pointed to the hook. Got called a boring killer because I didn’t fall for their 360 attempts and hit them regularly. Kept shifting my pressure that match to counter their 3 flashlights as Wraith with Franklin’s Demise, so committing to a long chase wasn’t in the cards that game. Just made me laugh as someone who does play both sides. People who’ve never played both roles just will not be happy unless they get exactly what they want out of every game. I was playing a mediocre killer into a team with 3/4 holding a hard counter to his power, and you’re mad that I was playing intelligently, plus you 3 genned yourselves. Oh well...

The amount of positive feedback that the Nurse rework received on the PTB is minimal. Most of the feedback was overwhelmingly negative. There are select few posts that were positive regarding the feedback. The only place where the Nurse rework was considered a success is on Reddit, which is known to be a more survivor sided environment due to the nature of discussions being about killers/killer perks being OP and not much about killer struggles. Any Nurse related discussion on Reddit is hit with downvotes unless it is (forgive my crude language, I'm trying to stay professional) a circlejerk about how since it's not impossible to 4k with her, she's still gigabroken and needs more nerfs.

And furthermore, if the feedback was overwhelmingly negative from Nurse mains, shouldn't that be enough to reconsider the changes? The addons were not something you see get a lot of negative attention because a lot of Nurse mains (myself included) agreed there was a change needed, and a change we got. But the basekit nerf was something people only started asking for when BHVR said people were asking for it. Basically a bandwagon that BHVR started caused the idea of her basekit being OP to be a mindset.

"If the majority of the community feels that when they play against a killer, they are just going to die no matter what they do, I think that killer should be very punishing to make mistakes with."

I agree. That's why her fatigue stun exists. To punish her for messing up her blinks and to stop her from snowballing one down into a 4K with Infectious fright.

I was completely fine with the add on reworks. The base kit rework has had me playing other killers instead of my former main, or playing Civ V (or technically Tales of Maj’Eyal, but...you know, another game.). Barely worth doing her dailies anymore for how much not fun they are to do.

  • Playing Huntress for too long destroys my mood - I’m very audio centric and her song just eats at me.

I had skilled Huntress fairly early in since I’d focus purely on that and not worry about any other metric for success.

getting the 1000 hatchets was absolutely awful. Had nights where I was so affected by her song I had to take my headphones off and play muted. Worst achievement for me on the killer side, hands down.

  • Re: Nurse, the stats are somewhat frustrating to see because they ignore the problem Nurse players have been touting from the beginning of this rework: yes she still performs, yes she can 4k...but she isn’t fun. We’ve seen kill rates drop a bit, given the stats, but kills don’t dictate how fun a game is. I have way more fun playing less effective killers than I do playing Nurse now, and I know I’m not alone in that. Nurse was my favorite, but she’s pretty much dead to me at this point. I’ll play her for dailies but I’ll have far more fun 0king with Legion than 4king with her.

Only people playing Nurse now are the die hard Nurse mains. They still want to make Nurse work, and for the most part they do. The changes made Nurse a lot less beginner friendly, even more than she was already, which turned a lot of people who weren't die hard Nurse mains.

I mean, I mained Nurse back in 2017 (I didn’t play from 2018-October 2019). I have entirely dropped the character. Is she still effective? Absolutely, I can 4k with her without add ons still. Is it still fun to play her? Not at all, it’s punishing and stressful now without add ons and half her draw for me was not needing add ons to be effective or fun.

I've heard shes almost unseen even on PC now...that's terrifying

I’ve seen maybe 4 Nurses on PC since the changes, all were 0K except one where she camped hard at the end to get 1.

  • It’s based on the idea of a ball of snow rolling down a snowy hill. Physics means that ball will pick up snow and get bigger and go from a small ball to something that’s actually dangerous.

In DbD snowballing is when a killer (mostly) is able to take a single survivor mistake and turn that into a massive advantage through smart play, or just utilizing the killer’s potential.

Leatherface insidious camping someone they got in the basement has snowball potential. Person 2 comes for the save and now there’s two people in the basement.

Hag downing someone as a trap goes off nearby is snowball potential since she can now get two people down with relatively little effort.

And so on and so forth.

  • I’m about a 50/50 on hit/miss ruin. What bothers me more is people who don’t know that if anyone on a gen missss a ruin check it’s optimal to let go for 3 seconds because you can’t repair it in that time but you can get skillchecks. That slows things down more than ruin itself does...

if the person on hook has it its broadcasted if you have it and someone else gets hooked only you can see it.

    So to be 100% clear:

Player 1 has Kindred, Player 2, 3, and 4 do not.

    Player 1 gets hooked.

Player 2, 3, and 4 get the Kindred effect.

    Later, Player 2 gets hooked.

    player 1 gets Kindred.

Players 3 and 4 do not.

  • @Happsta said:

To me if some one else is hooked i can see all the other survivors at all ranges and who is running for the hook or getting chased while unhooking or if the killer is camping! its god teir in my opinion.

Im gonna run it as my 4th perk it just too good honestly as a solo. This is what bhvr was talking about giving solo survivors more information. its gonna make proxy camping bigger thing but in my view patrolling is what a killer should be doing.

Right, I know what the new effects are. But do you still broadcast that information to the other survivors when you get hooked or is that gone in favor of the new effects?

  • To be fair I said fun. Fun and effective are different things.

I agree with you, but apparently BHVR does not.

Legion and Doctor are fun even without add ons imo.

I certainly won’t disagree about Clown though...

  • Fixing a bug doesn’t change needing to wait after waiting to use her power again. Can’t see any real increase in use from that bugfix...

  • Honestly if nothing about it changed other than locker grabs didn’t let it activate I think I’d be more or less ok with it. Locker baits are the main time I get frustrated with it.

I played a bunch of Nurse yesterday on my alternate account (Xbox). Went from rank 14 or 15 to rank 10. No add-ons most games, I tried Spoon and Tooth, and Dark Cincture a few times. I think she's fine honestly. It took a bit of getting used to waiting for the second blink, but if you are consistent with blinks you will catch survivors pretty quickly still. I had one game where I didn't miss a single blink and it felt great (and even though they weren't red rank survivors they were still pretty good in a chase, doing lots of jukes and such but I still got them). Then had one game where I bodied 2 of them, and there were 2 Jakes left then I just could not land a blink to save my life. To their credit, the Jakes were out playing me a lot, but that didn't upset me. What upset me was that some blinks just failed (Wrecker's Yard) specifically around the trash/junk jungle gyms. That was frustrating but I imagine that's a bug and not what's supposed to happen.

Again, you miss the point. She can still perform. I can 4k with her. I have less fun playing her than playing any other killer except Leatherface right now, and that’s only because I really don’t enjoy Leatherface. Regardless of how well she performs, if she isn’t fun to play there’s no point in playing her.

  • I’ve said this in a lot of threads, I’ll say it again. I freely admit Nurse still performs well when you’re working your ass off. The problem is that it isn’t fun to play her anymore. You get doubly punished for using her power. You have to wait (fatigue) and wait again (recharge) every single time you use your power. It just feels incredibly punishing and not fun.

I can still 4k with her. Doesn’t mean I want to play her when I could be playing more fun killers

  • Gotta say, as someone who plays both roles, and who stopped playing from early 2018 until last month, EGC is my single favorite addition to the game. There’s so much more tactics involved with it than the old hatch standoff. Did the final hook for player 3 happen right when I was near a door? Is it worth looking for the hatch or do I camp the door to power it ASAP when the hatch gets closed? If I’m the killer, am I able to pressure both doors or do I need to make a 50/50 call? I’ve seen a good number of EGCs with doors close end due to a key. I’ve seen a survivor cook one door until the first light, then go to the other and get out while I’m fruitlessly looking for them at the first door...it’s a legitimately thrilling end to the game and I love it no matter what side I’m on.

  • I’ve seen three people complete this three different ways:

how I did it: struggled for a few games, then had a game with two dumbass teammates who kept alternating who was on the hook so I got my 3.

how my wife did it: worked with me on 3 gens together. Every time the killer got close I ran out to distract.

how a rando did it: told us in the lobby he was going for it. My wife and I 99% gens around the map for him, and he did his own. Wound up using a combination of the mostly done gens to pop it.

  • It baffles me how every single person who comments saying she’s fine ignores those of us saying “we know she performs well, we can still perform well with her, but SHE IS NOT FUN TO PLAY ANYMORE.” Caps so the important part that gets ignored is stressed

  • I missed playing the game in legacy times by about two months. While I regret missing out on the legacy skins, I certainly don't regret not having to deal with the original webs...

That's not people's problem I think. People can still easily do good as nurse. She just doesn't feel fun to play now which shouldn't be the case.

@Rydog This is it exactly. When I play seriously as Nurse, I can 4k still, and my ability to read mindgames isn't any less. It's just not nearly as fun as it used to be. Gotta make sure I don't single blink a second time before the first one fully recharges or now I lose my second blink for the chase, gotta make damn sure I down on second blink or else I'm a one blink wonder...I don't enjoy spending half the match looking at my power icon. Especially when she's supposed to be a chase-oriented killer.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I've seen good Nurse players continue to main her, I truly believe her nerf weeded out the weak players lmao.

I can still 4k with her. I have negative amounts of fun doing so now. That’s my gripe.

  • I’ve been having more fun playing blinkless, perkless, soundless, add on less nurse than I’ve been having fun playing her normally. Seriously, that’s what I’ve been playing for the last hour and a half and I’ve smiled every game. Can’t claim to have had that experience playing her normally. Still get hooks sometimes too.

Of course I took my P3 outfit off before doing this...

  • I’ll be honest, I have legitimately had more fun as no blink Nurse than playing normally as Nurse. I feel like that helps explain how fun normal Nurse is now

  • I agree entirely. I've thrown my logic around a few times, but I'll rehash again here. For reference, I used Nurse every time I wanted to get to rank 1. P3ed her back before the second bloodweb rework, and more or less was forbidden from playing her in KYF games.

I've played Nurse a few games post rework, and have not had my opinions changed despite 4king in the games I played her (all without add-ons). For me, killing isn't as important as having fun (if you find my steam profile you'll find plenty of comments of me raging against the Victory Cube in 2017, since I hated the concept that killing was all that mattered). After playing a few games with her post rework, I stopped, and I feel like the reason should be obvious based on my last few sentences.

To me, Nurse is not fun now for two reasons that relate to each other. First and foremost, it is not fun to wait...and then wait again. If you only use one blink, that's a 2 second fatigue (standard) and then a 1 second wait before you get your blink back (new). If you blink twice, you get a 2.5 second fatigue, and a .5 second recharge. Also not terrible. The problem is the second blink. If you burn two blinks, you have a 3.5 second time between your recovery and getting that second blink back. That's almost 2 one blink fatigues. You must wait the 3.5 seconds as well, because if you single blink, you increase your recharge time post-fatigue to 4 seconds. This has, for practical purposes, led me to become a "one blink Nurse" for 95% of my chases. I can't risk being forced into a one blink scenario after a missed attack or miscalculated blink, so I reserve my second blink for a guaranteed down. This means I'm traveling the map while searching for survivors with a single blink, and I'm chasing with one blink. This feels extremely counter-intuitive, that I feel so punished for using the full extent of my power I'm not willing to use it, and I think highlights exactly why this new Nurse feels so bad.

Now, when I've complained in threads about this, one of the common responses from people is "just use add-ons." Which leads to my second point: to me, an add-on dependent killer is not fun to play, and only increases the already massive grind in this game. Nurse, prior to her nerf, was the absolute best example of a killer who was strong without add-ons. Post nerf, she feels very reliant on cooldown reduction. One reason I loved playing Nurse was being able to throw points earned playing her into my other killers. If the most common reaction to her base power is "just run add ons" she's become another Clown, who, yes, you can still play without add ons, but feels unfun and punishing to play without.

If her base power nerf was reverted I think she'd be in a solid spot...Omega Blink is gone, and that was the broken thing that didn't have Nurse's absurdly high relative skill floor/ceiling in mind. As is, she just feels straight up punishing to play, EVEN WHEN YOU'RE DOING WELL.

    Compare this to Spirit's nerf:

Removed collision: something that does weaken her, was commonly asked for, and honestly keeps the theme of leaving the physical world. Doesn't lessen her effectiveness otherwise. Raises her skill floor but not her ceiling.

Added vault animation: another skill floor raise, and a minor ceiling raise, since there's one fewer mindgame to do, but really nothing major.

Speed curve: can't see this doing much to her floor or ceiling.

On the whole, Spirit got really, really reasonable nerfs. Nurse got a second wait time added to her wait time, and it just makes her feel unfun. It's kinda hard to justify playing her, REGARDLESS of how well I can do with her, when I can have more fun with other killers. And since she's the killer I've got the most time on, that's really, really sad to say.

You're definalty a new player lol. Its about them saying something is "exclusive" . That "exclusive" feeling is what kept some people playing, you barely see anyone back from 2016 playing anymore since they got bored of the game. the ones that decided to stay and want to wear their old cosmetics get a big middle finger from the devs now.

Also if they want to end "shady scam" then they should disable all unused codes atm but let the already activated skins remain the same. And im betting they'll just sell these skins in their cosmetic shop since all BHVR cares about is the money they make, not their community, they gave that up a long time ago when they stopped doing weekly dev streams.

I own two of the skins on that list, got them not from attending the events, but by a steam forum mod giving out codes back sometime in 2017. I have no problem seeing myself lose the exclusivity on them. It’ll be nice to see more of them in games. So, as someone in your generalization, I don’t fit into the “feeling like the devs gave me a middle finger.” I was in the right place at the right time to get them, I’ve got no issues with everyone having them.

  • @Kralle said:

Let me show other people that I was in the game at that specific time, okay? Find it actually kinda funny srsly.

I got both of my exclusives in that list (Chuckles and Padded Jacket) by being online on the steam forums at the right time, and a mod put a couple codes in a thread. So I didn’t go to the events that were where they came from. I really don’t get the argument people have for “I’ve been a fan attending events since X and this proved it!” Nope, I haven’t been to a single event BHVR were at and l still had two of those exclusives. Oh well.

personally I think it’ll be nice to see more of them around...with them as rare as they are they may as well not exist for how often you see them...

  • @Mr_Digi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/835945#Comment_835945

I really hope you realize how pissed people are about this... Its a reason its called exclusive, its a reason that its Ultra rare. People didnt ask for this, are you just trying to piss of the community, because if it is, then you've done a pretty good job... Why dont you just catch the person who creates the codes and gives them to resellers? and why is not the hype nea skin coming, thats the most used skin to scam with. If you stop making codes, people cant sell them

I’ve got two of the exclusives being released, I would be hard pressed to care less that they’re being released. So the community impacted “negatively” by this decision isn’t exactly unified. It’ll be enjoyable to see more of the ones I have, they’re both nice.

  • @KrumpusWumpus said:

I do get your point but still, its very unfair for people who actually got the code. If they did do it fast enough then the selling of codes would not increase. Also, they could always check when people added the code in to see who got them legitimately and not.

Again, I got two things through codes from being online at the right time and the right place (steam forums). I’ve got no issues with them being universally available. They’re both nice cosmetics, it’ll be nice to see them getting more use.

  • Padded Jacket and Chuckles owner here:

While conceptually I’m not opposed to it, doing something like that causes problems seeing as they want to stop the scalping of codes. Getting anything extra for having a code makes the codes still valuable, so the problem still exists.

  • Eh, I own Padded Jacket and Chuckles. I’ve got no issue losing exclusivity on those. It was nice to have them, I still GET to have them. Just now everyone else does!

  • I swear there’s two balance teams.

one team did Freddy and now Spirit.

the other team did Legion and Nurse.

    Sure feels like it anyway...

  • I own full Daddy Jake. I’m totally fine with losing the exclusivity on him. It’s a cool pair of skins, it’ll be nice to see it more than the very rare times I play Jake.

  • @Mr_K said:

As for legacy, we're not looking to re-release that because we have promised in the past that it wouldn't be returning. We don't want to go back on that promise if at all possible.

Never go back on that promise. It would be disrespectful to the players that played when this game was small and starting out.

I don't have any Legacy, btw.

This. If I’d’ve gotten the game when I initially heard about it I could’ve gotten legacy. I didn’t, and while I was sad about missing out by just a few months I respected the concept. No need to change that now.

How many times would you be in that position in which a surivior is so far away to the point where you can't catch them (like pretty much all killers)? Not only that, but your terror radius most likely wouldn't be that large for the surivior to predict and already be able to create such a far distance.

Moreover, is that really a big deal? A killer that pretty much has no other counter than just juking, doesn't sound like a big deal to me. Not to mention how many times would you play a game without add ons (not even brown).

I play Nurse exclusively with no add ons.

Nurse has a 32 meter terror radius. Hearing her blink as soon as she’s in terror radius and you’re on a gen means you should probably run. Therefore, this exact scenario happens often.

EVEN IF IT DIDN’T, the fact Nurse can be countered by running straight ahead in any scenario is not acceptable. She’s a chasing killer, designed to keep up and quickly down survivors. A Wraith would catch someone quicker than she can in a straight line. That’s not acceptable.

  • @TheRoyalOwl said:

Yeah probably bugged, like the completely use 6 med-kits one gave me two points when I only depleted one med-kit.

The medkit ons seems to count medkits EVERYONE uses. Counted 4 total used in my first attempt at it, and I had 4/6 after the trial. Wonder if self care is bugged the same way?

If you know how to use your blinks, then this change won't affect you.

I take issue with this logic because “knowing when to use your blinks” has become “you are a one blink Nurse until you are 100% confident you have the second hit on a survivor because using it any other time forcibly makes you a one blink Nurse for the rest of the chase.” That’s not skill, that’s forced gameplay.

  • @Zoldyar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/832580#Comment_832580

If you really want to master your nurse then play custom game and use the add on that allows you to see tour blinks. It is very helpful because it helps you know how to use your blink power correctly and position yourself to a place where a surivior cant dodge or juke your hit. Another thing is being patient and not be frustrated when you miss your hits because using her you must be calm. Finally, you must accept loses in lots of games using her because it allows you to know what a surivior can do against her for you to counter it. It also gives you experience to knowing how to use your blink power at the right time and e.t.c.

That's why Nurse is the best killer because it takes skill with the outcome and wins (almost every game no matter what).

I will be entirely honest here - I don’t understand the condescension. Really, I don’t. I hate repeating myself across threads, but sure.

Back in 2017 Nurse was my killer of choice. I have and am now tempted to upload and share a soundless video I recorded of an endgame chatlog after the case where someone accused me of somehow modding my steam profile to hide my number of hours because someone with 100 hours would never be as good as I was with her. It was hilarious and a major ego boost for me at a time in my life where I felt pretty down on my luck.

I know Nurse. I know her extremely well. I don’t claim to be on the level of the “greats” in this game, ESPECIALLY not after I stopped playing in early 2018 and came back just at the start of October 2019. It took two games to get my Nurse back into my fingers. I didn’t play her too often as I was focused on trying the killers that came out in my absence, but I knew I had her back.

I say this not to flex, but to explain that I’m not bitching because I can’t play Nurse. The changes make her unfun to play, and without add ons she cannot catch someone running in a straight line. That is the bottom line for me.

  • Obviously due to rank reset this won’t be true now, but the last few days as someone who tries not to go above green rank killer because I find those levels more fun than purple/red, after about 10:30 PM queuing up guaranteed me to be against 100% red ranks. Was ridiculous.

  • I didn’t ask for a video of a well played Nurse without add ons. I’ve 4ked as new Nurse with no add ons. I just found it incredibly unfun. I want to see counter proof that the straight line thing is bogus on base nurse, specifically. And again, I am 100% happy to show proof, just need to be given time as it’s not quite 1 here, I work until 4 and my wife works until 5 today. Need us both home to do a coordinated video.

  • @Endstille can you share your video and tag them? Alternatively I can make one in about 6 hours once my wife and I are both home.

Never close enough to score a hit?

    https://youtu.be/zw82TsUL288

Want me to show you more videos?

A killer such as the nurse that can ignore all defences a surivior has by using her blinks. It only make sense that she relies on her blink instead of movement speed to get a surivior.

You’re misunderstanding what they’re saying, either intentionally or not.

If a survivor runs directly away from the nurse, a base kit nurse can no longer catch them. No juking, no looping, no hiding. A straight line.

  • @Keene_Kills said:

Seeing a few that are only going to happen via an offhand miracle. Really gets me to wondering about Tomes 3 & 4 now... geez. At least I'll be lowering my expectations early and not worrying about completing it 100% now.

I unfortunately was extremely skeptical about the claims that Tome 4 would be changed from the sneak peek we got. Tome 2 has me more or less convinced what we saw is exactly what we’re going to get.

i was looking forward to trying to 100% the archives, but I think this pretty much cements that that won’t be possible for me.

  • Survivor has a higher skill floor but a much lower skill ceiling. I’m absolutely ######### at looping but I’ve been to rank 1 multiple times and excel at losing the killer. Killer meanwhile gets more and more stressful the higher up you go in ranks, and knowing how to play each map optimally as a killer to keep up with optimal survivors is harder than becoming an optimal survivor.

  • This fits my situation the closest but it’s situation-dependent. I’ll back off slightly but still be playing fairly normally, and see how the remaining survivors react. If they’re clearly struggling I’ll back off more, and pick the survivor who I like the style of best and try to shape the game to give them the hatch. That being said, if as I’m backing off the survivors left are BMing or assuming I’m going to farm...back to No Mercy we go.
