At this point I'm not even sure if "Bubba op" is meant seriously or not (😂) because people have actually messaged me multiple times yesterday and called me out for playing Bubba as if he were hella broken haha. How do people make it to purple ranks a few days after rank reset when they can't even handle a Bubba who does NOT camp OR tunnel?
I dunno, but I swapped out the only slowdown perk on my build (Pop) for infectious fright and will slug the hell out of a team if given the chance. Might as well give em something to complain about if theyre gonna do it anyway, lol. Also...check this out...
This is infact a picture of Bubba on the right. You might have to squint to see him because of how much he blends, but hes there.

I would like to see what the devs say actually. The camping part is fine. But the traps and gen thing there sounds an awful lot like working with the other side, and that is a big no no last I checked.
The Ace wasnt ousting his fellow survivors or bodyblocking them and such. Typically thats what ppl mean when they say working with the killer. If your running around with Bond and pointing your teammates out to the killer, or sandbagging them at loops for the killer...Thats bad and reportable. What was described here...isnt that.

Because he doesn’t understand the game?
Personally I would rather the killer sit on the hatch and “force me,” to do the last three gens solo for points and pips.
The ultimate punishment, forcing someone to rank up, lol

To be fair Scorpionz loses games pretty often - sometimes even against survivors that get outplayed everytime he chases them. I remember one game in particular where every chase ended fairly quickly and none of the survivors managed to actually "outplay" him in a chase yet 3 escaped and they acted like he was a baby killer even though he didn't even camp or tunnel anyone. He was like "why are you acting like that when none of you outperformed me? I mindgamed ALL of you every single time" but thanks to gen speed and maybe toolboxes (can't remember the items) they won anyways.
Everyone has losing games, but we also have games where we stomp. OP talked about 2 gens being done in a minute thirty seconds, but Ive had entire teams be wiped out in that same timespan (not reliably...but you know, Bubba OP, lol).

I have found spirit fury good for only one or two hits in the match but if a Bubba is running it, he feels comfortable with just those extra one or two hits. Maybe he won't be tryhard face camping maybe he will. All I know is the insidious, moonshrine? agitation, iron grasp build isn't the most dreaded version. The most boring perhaps but DC worthy?
I can't count how many times I've hung defeated on the hook wanting death against a ghost face who is proxy camping me, who only "got" me because he was proxy camping the previous guy. I feel like there are less blatant versions but all the more effective.
Moonshrine? I think you misspelled mad grit, lol.

Your forgiven, now scoot outta my way, you being on the same map as me is body blocking because I want to stand at that EXACT SPOT.

The game can always feel unbalanced to people who are inexperienced, and unfortunately this ranking system pits inexperienced ppl against long time players alot. I could show you screenshots of games I've had where I did well with "weak" killers, or post videos of various youtubers or twitch streamers who also play well, with and without ruin. Much of it comes down to understanding various maps and knowing how you can play them to your advantage. Personally, Ive had great fun lately messing teams up with a Bubba, WITHOUT facecamping them I should add, lol.

And heres an example of a Piggy player who can deal with genspeeds without ever relying on ruin. Putting up an example of Tru3 losing is not evidence of anything. It should be noted that the Ghostface we have has nothing to do with the Scream franchise. Just a completely separate killer that also just happens to wear the same Halloween outfit that was already sold in stores before the film series made it popular.

Whats the point of his power without addons though? It feels like the addons is what actually make his power have a purpose.

I always have a bad teammate on my side...called the entity. She always lets those pesky survivors get the 4% when the match SHOULD be over, lol.

i play killers without/at most yellow add ons, if you need green or purple that are hard to get or you use only 2 add ons thats your problem? just stop relying on add ons to carry you?
Id just be happy if certain killers get adjusted to not be so addon reliant. The difference between a Bubba or a Doc running addons versus not running addons is pretty significant. How much of a power does doc even have when not using addons?

"on either side" so does this mean NOED needs to be nerfed because a survivor shouldnt be getting punished for doing very well in a match and giving a killer a free-kill card then? :3
You might have a point if the requirement for activation is "Finish the last gen within X minutes of the game starting". With DS, you could theoretically down an entire team and still get smacked by it.
-
I like using it on my Freddy, buut I do agree it could use a buff. Its nice being able to start the regression on a gen without having to actually go to it to kick it. Going upstairs to kick the gen on Mother's dwelling can be kind of a chore, so this saving me the time is nice.

Take Bubba on a tour of all the pallet landmarks and ruin along with 2 generators will be done before he decides you're his camping victim. If he camps you everyone else, given that they are smart, will escape. Everyone will get squat for blood points but at least noone DC'd like a little bish.
He has nothing to prevent pallet throwing. You should pray that your friendly Bubba is running spirit fury because then you have yourself a true to form gamer who doesn't care all that much about the individual but rather prefers the whole world to burn.
Meh, spirit fury just shows he doesnt know how to get those hits in. Just because he has spirit fury and enduring as 2 of his perks, doesnt mean one of his other 2 isnt insidious, lol.

Not usually a grammar nazi, but maybe reread over your post after typing it out. As far as toxicity goes, things like endgame chat can be reported and dealt with. Things like DCes...can be dealt with. Things like a survivor hitting couch rapidly...nothing can be done there. At that point, you gotta realize that their slowing themselves down and trying to get you worked up. If its working, you end up missing out on whats going on around you. When it DOESNT work...theyre hindering themselves and you stomp em. Take a breather, we all have rough games. No need to be DCing on either end really over the game. If you have something IRL come up, sure...take care of your issue. This doesnt sound like THAT though.

No time doesn't mean no paradoxes
That means rin can be both killer and survivor.
The rin that is the killer is not really rin, arguably, as all the spirit is is rage and revenge.
I see no reason why that shouldn't be the case, but at the same time I don't really care at all who the new killer and survivor will be. Doesn't matter at all to me.
Rage and revenge=typical highschool girl

I think you're missing what I'm saying. I'm not saying hes op or needs a nerf I'm saying it's not fun to play against or play as. You loop him like normal and when you play him you play M1 killer except stalk. Add-ons take that experience and make it ten times worse. My fault for the rant sounding like that. Also I did main killer till rank 6 just quit after I got tired of survivor #########. Literally never want any killer to be nerfed.
Hes actually one of the most popular killers in the game, both to play as and against.

I'm sure. The bar is red. There is a base effect and then you get +3% for the first 3 sleeping survivors. It says there is a slight debuff all the time. So if the max is 12%, it would go slight-moderate-considerable-tremendous.
you on PC? I wanna test this real quick

That approach could work in theory but would be much harder to balance since that means they could just not do any of those things in order to keep the perk.
While that would mean not doing gens it still leads to problematic scenarios.
That problem isn't impossible to solve or anything, I just figured having a simpler solution where it's the desired Killer reaction actually happening that triggers the deactivation to be a better solution.
At least you wouldnt run into cases where someone with an active DS is rescuing someone off the hook. It sucks getting hit with a DS for going after the unhooker...
-
@thesuicidefox said:

There is indeed a base effect. When everyone is awake you still get a red bar when doing these actions.
Here is the line in the add-on description:
"Applies a slight penalty to Sabotage, Healing and Repair Action Speeds to awake and asleep Survivors." (https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Swing_Chains)
Although now thinking about it, it is 12% max, meaning that it doesn't matter if the 4th survivor is asleep or not. You only get stacks for the first 3. But there is 100% a base effect because the bars are red when everyone is awake.
You sure you arnt seeing that red bar from another effect, like multiple people being on the gen? You SHOULD see the icon at the bottom of any perk or addon thats slowing you down.

This isn't removing it's anti-tunnel ability, since it's deactivation requirement IS going after someone else, which is the definition of not tunneling.
Had a team DC on me earlier after i slugged someone who was unhooked, chased after 2 other survivors in the area and then interrupted a heal. Apparently that was tunneling...really wishing I had added that post game chat to my "salty endgame chats" folder. Still didnt even pick up the guy before the whole team just DCed.

Looks like a nice build, i was never a fan of whispers, but that's personal preference. I don't have Bubba, so idk, but i use iron maiden on billy, and it's fantastic. They can't dodge the chainsaw with a locker (which bubba kinda counters anyway) and it fills in the gaps for BBQ if they hide from it. But again, that's better on billy because he can sprint. I never got Bubba because he costs money, and he always seemed very weak to me. And he's so similar to billy anyway.
Im a huge fan of whispers. Its probably my biggest "crutch" perks if I had to list one since anytime I take it off a non-stealth killer...im feeling it. Theres little tricks you can do with the information it gives to pinpoint survivor locations, as well as greatly speed up search times.

No Ruin?!
Jk, I love that build. I like combining Pop with Overcharge as well. It does a little more regression, helps a bit with tracking and nearly prevents the "tap the regressing gen and run away immediately" strategy.
They can still do that since overcharge's skillcheck lets them hit it after they leave the gen for some reason... If it wasn't for the requirement to down ppl with M1, I might use surge more. I use it on Freddy with great success, but killers like Huntress... I wish

Why would I care anout walking speed when I’m trying to play stealthy? You do realize you don’t have to run away from the killer to lose them right?
I often times play stealthy, but you can still play stealthy by walking around a tree just as good as urbaning around it.The only times urban really shines in those cases is when trying to use waist high objects as cover.

I'm curious. Why monitor?
The reduced TR helps get closer to survivors and make it less likely that they'll reach the nearest pallet or jungle gym. Often times theres only 1 pallet near a gen, and survivors will start booking it to the nearest "safe" spot when they hear your TR. Monitor helps mediate that. You're more likely to catch a survivor out of position.

What makes chains/rope add-ons so effective is their stacking with perks like Thana and Dying Light, plus Pop. All that may only add 8-10 seconds at most to base gen repair, but if you come along and Pop the gen that's kind of a big deal now. The little bits of time add up. And in those cases, it punishes survivors for being asleep so now they have to waste time waking up, which is why I say dresses are best to combo with ropes since it also punishes using skill checks to wake up. Snap-clap and clocks are a huge time sink because of how out of the way a survivor needs to go for it. There is also dream pallets, but that's like a preference thing. Personally I find them to be gimmicky. It can be really effective if survivors fall for it, but if they don't it's a huge waste of an add-on slot. And depending on the map, you may not even be able to use it well enough. Estate and Swamp maps are notorious pallet deserts in the middle areas. Game and Lery's pretty much only have room for the real pallets so you need to get them to drop pallets to even use it. And you have no way to shut down window loops or BL loops. Snares can do all that, even if it's less effective it's more consistent and versatile.
Also yea, RIP Z Block. Kinda glad that add-on is bad though, I only had a few left before the rework hit. By contrast I had like 50 Swing Chains and 60-80 ropes each.
From my experience, not many ppl purposefully fail skillchecks. If they're not gonna failed them when having 2 different addons slowing them down, theyre not gonna fail them when its only 1 addon doing it, and a dress. I do like the aura part of dresses for the rare occasion, and think maybe if they gave Z block snare aura reading similar to how paint thinner gave pallet aura reading...
I'm in the mindset that snares are the stronger of the tools, so picking the pallet addon would be akin to picking picking speed limiter on Bubba, lol. You're using a perk slot to get weaker.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/843415#Comment_843415
I think Swing Chains is actually 15%, because you get 3% at all times then an additional 3% for each sleeping survivor. I remember thinking it was basically Thana but for sleeping. Ropes do a flat amount to the sleeping survivor only, I think green rope is 9%.
its not, its 12%. Theres no 3% base, its 3% per sleeping survivor. You're correct about jumprope though, with outdoor rope being 6%.

Yes. You are every single dbd player and determine what is or isn't balanced.
When ppl act like its impossible to do well on any killer thats "not viable", then yeah... its hard to take posts seriously. Notice how I didnt say anything about balance, I just dont jump on the bandwagon of "You HAVE to pick this killer and this loadout to do well or you'll be bullied". If you wanna pick something else...do it, learn every trick you can with it and you'll do well.

Spirit is overrated, people claim that she has no counterplay but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve confused a phasing Spirit with Urban Evasion & Iron Will at Red Ranks.
Why would urban evasion do anything against a phasing spirit, when it just makes you walking speed. You couldve walked and had the same effect.

It’s no secret the game heavily favours survivors, but base kit ruin would be boring. A second objective is desperately needed; only way to appease both sides.
The survivor side doesnt necessarily want objectives to take longer, just for them to be more interactive. Having 5 gens that take the same amount of time + have to do something else...would be abit much. Last year: The nightmare had a pretty neat system in which the survivors had to find fuel to power up a crane and other such things, rather than hold M1 and press space for skillchecks.

Good point to add, yes. Know your pallets, which ones you want to get rid off quickly.
When I know my 3 gens and I've cleared all pallets in spiting distance then what are you going to do? I'll gladly give them 4 gens when I can ensure they won't get the last one. And even if they do the game is not over yet.
Can agree with one thing tho, that survivor have a more chill time. I don't find that problematic tho. Quite the contrary. So I can switch from one mode to another and it stays somewhat interesting. As a killer you are always on the go, you have to analyze and outsmart 4 people at the same time. Ofcourse that is difficult to do, it should be.
Imagine you could just faceroll your way through every team.
like spirit for example
Dont you know, Spirit takes skill. Not everyone was born with ears, takes a special prodigy to hear things.

If that's your reasoning then I don't see why Freddy should not have a counter to BT with his Dream World. Yes it's passive rather than reactive like dropping down a pallet early, but his whole gimmick is that the Dream World is supposed to be a state the survivors do not want to be in. The longer they are in the Dream World the more they make Freddy powerful and able to snowball against them.
While Its true that people SHOULD be trying to wake up to counter him... The problem is that the survivor that was just saved with BT just becomes a deadman walking. Even if his teammates play it right and wake up before going for that save, BT still doesnt help unless the exit gates are close and open. He gets unhooked, he gets smacked which procs BT...then he falls anyway because hes being chased by a killer with no TR and the BT meter drops.

@Blackburne said:
Just wait until he realizes that ruin is actually a ######### tier perk that probably works against potato teams. Everyone else just sticks to the gen and works through it.
It's waste of a perk slot. Better run Devour Hope or Haunted Ground if you really want that totem.
Otherwise Pop if you play it smart.
You have to know which 3 gens will be your "main gens", the ones you want to keep alife for as long as possible. Theoretically, if you manage to defend 3 gens the whole game it does not matter how many gens they do, they'll never get done. Of course practically it's not always that easy, but a thing to keep in mind. You have to force them into a 3 gen scenario and pop is alot better for this - provided you win chases.
You're right that it's damn easy to become the clown as killer if you play by the survivors rules.
As someone else in this thread has said, if you just hold down W without thinking you obviously are going to lose. As long as you stay predictable you are lost.
Besides that you cannot evade metagaming. There will always be "that guy" or "that perk".
And of course if you don't want to play that way you're free to do so. If you're good you can make any killer viable, but that does not mean you can win 100% of the time.
Especially not against swf, that's an exception because it essentially breaks the balance of the gameplay.
I find alot of it comes down to defending areas rather than gens. Many maps have bottle necks of sorts, as well as large areas that become basicly deadzones quite easily. Azaroths resting place for example often has about 3 or 4 pallets for a large area with 4 gens situated in it. Take out those pallets...and the game is yours. Using Bubba, it quickly became borderline suicide to step foot on that half of the map that was just open area and not even a decent junglegym.
-
Being able to switch from walking on 2 legs and being similar in movement and posture to Demo, to getting down on all 4 for fast running would be neat
