Let's start with some background.
I play Rocket League in addition to DBD. They have a MMR system.. But it is flawed even in a game where a MMR system should work perfectly.
Perfect example; I was playing doubles (2v2) and my teammate lost connection and left the match less than a minute in. I then had to play a 1v2 match that I held out into overtime (+3.something minutes too) and ultimately lost the match. I STILL WENT DOWN IN DIVISION even though I just played a 1v2 and held it out forever while getting a goal to tie the game in the process.
The point, I had to go through a DC, and play an unfair match, yet I was still forced to go down in division because I lost. (Yes I know I could have forfeited but as I said, I held it out and even scored the goal to tie the match so I knew I was better than both of them combined.)
This got me thinking a bit..
What about DBD? Will it recognize if another survivor DCs? Making the remaining 3 play a now unfair match, just to cause them to lose points if they don't manage to win?
Rocket League has a MMR system that is rock solid in its execution, and it is in a game where an MMR system is designed to work flawlessly. Yet it still has its flaws.
Devs, for the love of god, DO NOT PUT A MMR SYSTEM INTO THE GAME.
There is too much RNG and reliance on teammates for a MMR system to work. Asymetrical games should not have any type of MMR, as they are wildly unpredictable between matches and made to be ASYMETRICAL.
As a killer, did you lose because the infinite in the Ironworks of Misery was open and they ran it on you 20 times in the match? Or did you lose because you are genuinely a bad killer? Did you lose chases because the pallet spawns were giving god-tier pallets to the survivors, or could you not catch them because you were genuinely bad at outplaying loops? Did you face a team running all BT, DS, Adrenaline, and toolboxes? Or did you just get gen rushed because you can't apply map pressure? Did you get a big map as a killer with low mobility? Or did you just not play it right?
Survivors. Did you die because your teammates played immersed all game? Or because you are a bad survivor who can't win chases and keep the killer away from them? Did you fail to get gens done because your teammates would rather self care in the corner over doing the objective? Or did the killer actually put pressure on the gens? Did you get screwed over by dedicated servers through facing a huntress? Or could you not dodge a hatchet? Did your teammates not come to save you? Did you get facecamped? Did you get tunneled?
There are too many variables in the game for a MMR system to properly work. Honestly no MMR system can ever work in ANY asymetrical game because of this reason. Don't think the complaints are in vain because the players just do not want the MMR system, there is valid concern for what it would do to the health of the game.
Devs,
If you truly care about the players and about the future of the game, don't just slap a MMR system into the game and call it your "fix to matchmaking" when in all reality it will just be worse for the game's health, and ultimately worse than the matchmaking we have currently.
Please, properly fix the matchmaking so that we get people into the ranks they belong in and so that the game can be more enjoyable from both sides of play.
Honestly my biggest thoughts are I do agree with you, but I also know now I wont have to deal with a ton of boosted survivors thanks to SWF or just people who safety pipped the entire way to rank 1.
I do think you have a ton of valid points and I wish you luck, but the new system I think will be better then currently having this poor excuse for matchmaking and rank system.

Legacy was given to players who had a fully prestiged character "ages" ago. I understand legacy is now a very rare and special skin, but I feel like it would be really cool if the developers allowed players to go above prestige, and progress to a legacy skin. So, it would be the three levels of prestige like normal, but then you can keep going three more stages for prestige. Just a thought!
No the people who earned it are people who spent time during the early game when it had less of a following and put the time into it. Just because you want or need to have it does not mean it should happen.
BHVR is doing the same thing DE did for Excalibur Prime and associated weapons. If you invested back then you got it, but joined later you dont get that privilege. It's an exclusive to an older generation of DBD players and taking that away is not acceptable.
If you want something like Legacy, buy the hallowed blight outfits.

Dead By Daylight is a 4V1 game. You need to have a much greater survivor population than killer population. By that, the survivor population needs to find the game to be as relaxing (not to stressful) and casual as possible to some degree so the likelihood of the player to come back is increased. This way the devs can maintain this 4/1 ratio. Too keep a higher survivor population you must try to keep the interest of survivors in mind more or so than killers without completely ruining the killer gameplay or interest. The devs are constantly trying to make not just a balance in gameplay, but a balance in population. As we’ve seen with matchmaking in the past, an imbalance of population can lead to very long que times and typically much more stress on players. If the devs are able to keep survivors interested enough and maintain that number than they can keep matchmaking shorter. With the subtraction of ranking actually being a variable in matchmaking, it will help drop matchmaking restrictions and further more will likely give killers more balanced gameplay. This would help balance the gameplay of the killer because not every survivors will be a loop God to say. That will help killers keep pressure on maps that they may typically be lacking pressure in. For example, This makes sure that not every actual rank 1 worthy team is destroying a rank 1 leatherface on temple of purgation due to the natural imbalances. Also the devs are working on balancing each and every map as they can, as well as killers, to better fit the new model standard the devs are transitioning the game into. Have patients. I’m trying too have patients too during this transition, but I’m also not playing the game much at the moment.
whats your thoughts? (Please leave the heavily 1 sided opinions at home)
-cheers
Lmao they already are survivor biast man how much more can they give?

Can't stand the shock therapy /strike ability combo. Just allows the doctor the ability to Disrupt and end chases quicker and move on to disrupting and starting new chases sooner.
Ability to stop you from vaulting or pallet dropping is too unbalanced.
Nothings really changed from before. Thay added the AoE attack instead of the Treatment mode with the passive TR madness effect. People are playing him more because he's no longer as weak of a killer plus now with the rework he's technically newish again.
He always had the ability to prevent you from vaulting/dropping pallets for free hits. Now it's just easier to do because you dint waste time shocking then switching from treatment to punishment.

You know I would feel bad, but after that - I don't really mind that he was the first to die. In game he obviously didn't know any of the loops on Ironworks, and how much his friends ignored Generators to save him off hook / bodyblock for him. It was clear that they were SWF boosting their baby friend into red ranks for his "streaming career". It's good to see people helping, such a positive voice for DBD.
In other words entitled survivors attitudes is a problem, and this is how killer's are treated every match even when it was because of the other survivors they lost - not the Killer. What else was I gonna do? Go tap the wall on the other side of the map? I knew they weren't working on gens, they knew they weren't working on gens, but I get called a tunneler, and i'm bad because they decided to ignore their own objective.
At the end of the day just say ggwp and move on man. A lot of people are like this overall on BOTH sides. They feel entitled to the 4k or entitled to escape. I've met some cool people in the end game chat. I play with them occasionally just don't let the toxic stuff bother you. You can tease them too as well about it. Always kinda fun.

I've unlocked every single teachable perk for killers. You might think this is a very good thing but it has one major downside. Acquiring one perk that you really need. A while ago a decided to get a decent build with every single killer in the game. Without question, this is a very long run if you don't play the game 24 hours a day. Currently I'm trying to get corrupt intervention on Myers. Not really coming together. Now I have 61 different perks on Myers but not the one I need. I think with 18 killers (more coming) this is the time to let people buy perks for an increased price without spending millions in the web. Maybe for iridescent shards? I would really like to hear your opinions on this.
I love Corrupt Intervention on Myers it goes so well with Infectious Fright when they gen rush you and they realize they 3 gen strat a Myers.
I run Haunted Grounds, Corrupt Intervention, Infectious Fright, and Pop Goes the Weasel.

I mindgame a lot and my favorite is the doctor (the only bought killer)
I was thinking since I'll get genrushed to Oblivion that the spirit is what I need. She is hard to learn but not as frustrating as the nurse. Other than that I was thinking of plauge for the corrupt and ghostface to teabag. Other than those,I really don't know.
If you like Mind Games Spirits the queen of that. People will argue though. Shes an excellent killer, but her viability wanes when sounds are bugged. All 3 of her perks are useful as well.
Plague is fun shes unique and has 2 extremely great perks. You tend to get legitimately gen rushed playing her though.
Ghostface is nice, but cost actual money since he is licensed. He's viable at all ranks, but mediocre since his power takes too long to activate without addons. He has my favorite perk TT.
Who dont you have as killer tho? What ranks do you tend to play at?

As someone who enjoys playing both sides of the game, I feel that moris and keys offer a "cheap win" for each side. While I disagree that these elements should be removed from the game entirely I do believe they could each use a soft nerf. As for moris, I'm strictly referring to offerings. Devour hope is perfectly fine as is IMO and I don't have a solution to tweak rancor so all you get is a \o/ for now.
As for moris, I think the pink offering should be after you hook a survivor twice or after you hook *all* survivors once. I feel that with the former you're doing it for style points and with the latter you have "earned" the win.
With keys it gets a hair tricky. I would suggest that keys aren't activated until either the exit gates are powered or the EGC has started. Only 3 gens done, two dead, and the last two get a free ticket out bc one had a key on them? Nah, that's gonna be a no for me, dog. I feel that this would turn keys into a last resort rather than a "get out of trial free" card. You'd simply use them to counter a gate humping killer.
But if course I'm open to discussion. Do you think that keys and moris need a rework? If so, do you have suggestions other than my own? Please do your best to curb your bias if you main one side over the other.
I think Rancor is fine it's basically just killer adrenaline. I like the changes tho.

Sorry, let me know if I got this right. I got hooked, killer is walking around the hook, I guess we can just say camping, I get unhooked, even with BT, teammates are running around to block and protect me, killer ignores them completely, avoids them just to get me, downs me eventually and hooks again. And situation repeats. And I am the one who needs to play better? Then tell me how, I'd love to get better.
Technically yes.

Unfortunately, yes, it seems to be the norm at the moment. Hopefully, we should see a decrease in this kind of behaviour once the DC penalties are implemented.
Right now, people are DCing against Doctor partly because they are tired of playing against him (since his pick rate has gone way up since the rework) and partly because they don't like the rework and they would rather quit than adapt.
Every new killer in a nutshell tho.

no, no single role is more OP than the other. It’s the Perks + Environments variables that make one side stronger.
Yet a entire squad of Survivors without perks can dominate a Killer. Yet a perkless killer will have trouble against the same lvl of skill that those survivors have.

I know, who cares about points? but honestly I feel a killer should not get rewarded for tunneling, if you hook the same survivor 3 times in a row, that should heavily cost you bp and your emblem for that category imo
I disagree sometimes a Killer to establish pressure has to do this. Tunneling while definitely a feel bad moment for the Survivor, but sometimes it is needed to remove one of the 4 Survivors off the board immediately or to make it so you can get a 1k.

Gotta say, medkits are better. They feel a bit too strong for my taste though, selfcare alone is a bit slow and medkits are too fast.
I can just tell, that i have more problems with 4 healing survivors who play it safe and steady. Compared to 4 risky survivors genrushing, which will end the game fast for either side. Survivors have enough power and control to play it out safely imo, depending on teammates. You may want to genrush injured with other potatoes.
Honestly though majority of Self Care users tend to be bad. Outside low ranks where no one knows what's going on and Self Care is useful any other rank or survivor will be using better perks.
I rarely if ever seen anyone take it slow and steady anymore. I do know that if I wait a moment to start gens killers will bypass me and I can get a free gen.
-
@Weederick said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1053639#Comment_1053639
I'd say the opposite of selfcare. Its garbage for low-mid ranks, since they cant loop so they just get doublesmacked in no time. Where as in highranks, good loopers can waste a lot of time with that extra healthstate. They dont throw that away like potatoes. If you want to to down them, you have to commit atleast 30s more, which is 90s of gentime for 32s of healing and with much more potential. Chases get exponentially more valuable the longer you can loop.
The easiest way to win and carry games completely is having a single, long chase. And with 2 healthstates its much, much easier and reaslistic to do.
In my experince those kind of loopers are rare and even then most wont waste the slot on Self Care when a medkit can do the same thing. The few people who have tried doing this to me usually get smacked down before they can pull it off.

Survivor: Self Care legitimately one of the worst perks for anyone above rank 20. I see too many useless people SC while I'm on the hook in the corner of the map.
Killer: No One Escapes Death. Nothing, but a massive reward for failure. You couldn't get anyone before endgame you shouldn't be carried by a bad designed perk during endgame. Too many times do I see bad killers use this to camp or tunnel at EGC.

not really, she's a strong killer and most veteran DBD players will agree that she's the best killer in dead by daylight right now. her mechanism of blinking to injure, wait for fatigue, then blink and down again is by far the most overpowered. no other killer can do this and sure, there have been some nerfs but she is definitely not in F tier. if you can't play her well, that's just you but her power is definitely really good especially against good survivors
She's been confirmed weaker then Legion mate by a actual Dev. Ya she can blink through walls and some people can still do well with her, but take the fact she takes significantly more time then the average killer to master increased by the difficulty and the fact u can catch a glimpse of her as she blinks to you. The colddown on her blinks as well. Topped with how slow she actually is. If you miss a hit a Survivor can run straight and never be caught. Not loop not pathing legitimately STRAIGHT.
Ya shes still good in a very select few peoples hands though so she dont at all need to be looked at. Not to mention she's no longer fun to play or play against.

@Wesker said:
Give me your personal opinion on this possible rework for Tanatophobia
- Tanatophobia no longer affect healing speed;
- Every time a survivor is injured, the generators repair speed is increased by 16%
According to the last Q&A discussion towards perk rework, this could be a possible rework by the way they said to buff the perks to work on their own with less synergy with each others
Btw I main killer so I'd like to talk about killer's perk, and I'm talking about Tanatophobia III
If it doesn't actually slow them down outside Gen speeds the perk is mediocre. Slowdown perks are cool and all, but if thats all you can rely on then unfortunately your probably not a very good killer. Having a more versatile build is what makes the difference between a good and bad Killer rank has nothing to do with it. Knowing what your weaknesses and strengths are can make a world of difference.
A good example is a lot of Forever Freddy were incredibly boosted and bad killers. Only managing to actually do stuff because of the increased times. Forever Freddy was legitimately more obnoxious then old Legion moonwalk bloodhound tech players.

Many assume its swf if they play well together but it's not always the case as a good setup of solo players can and do play better. The amount of times I've been accused of being in an swf when I only play solo is astounding.
I've been accused of being a hardcore SWF groups. During the last Rift. We got Suffocation Pit against a Pig. I was running a dedicated heal build because of the challenge. She had a tough time. She had to tunnel and slug for the 1k.

Gen rush and comms: No need to say that 2-3 gens done in 2 mins is not funny.
Tryharding/toxic play/camping/tunneling: All becuz of the gen rush it make killers play sweaty and dirty also as survivors doesnt have fun BHVR proceed with nerfs till one day game die cuz no one wanna be bullied.
Make casual and ranked play and you will see health of the game increased.

They don't actually need to nerf DS just fix it so it can't be abused by a survivor on a killer who legitimately didn't tunnel.

Yet another match where unfortunately I was caught first and it was Leatherface who decided to Camp me the entire time with his chainsaw revving.
He ended up getting a second kill before the other two survivors escaped because instead of just focusing on generators one or two of them stood around doing absolutely nothing as if he had any intentions of letting me off the hook.
How about we come back this face camping situation by subtracting three points for every time the Killer stays Within 15 m of a hooked Survivor from the start of the hook through all of the phases.
This would ensure Killers wouldn't camp and survivors would hang in there and not just disconnect.
You know this is already in effect right? Just when a survivor is within 16 meters nothing happens. The new hook tech is great at letting you apply multiple pressure as Plague.
Should look at the emblem system and changes more frequently.

Easier or not dies not mean people enjoy it. Most issues regarding Billy is this Addon Set Combo. He's actually pretty far from balanced anyways because it means if Billy is balanced every other Killer is imbalanced heavily. If he was truely balanced like you said he would be in the middle of all killers. Yet he's considered an extremely powerful killer, because he is inherently broken.

CI is a perk that gets disabled after 2 minutes. The only difference between it and Ruin is you actually get the full 2 minutes out of CI.
Why do you have to sacrifice 1/4 of your perks to get a fair start of the game while survivors get 16 perks and only a few can even be disabled?
Also CI won't stop them from blazing through gens at lightning fast speeds, it just stops them from doing it on certain gens.
Sad part is when you realize on a few killers can actually benefit from CI anyways.

Most people will know about it, but it's a after thought at best.
Logically if you google it prolly thousands of people die every day. We don't know about it nor does it bother anyone if we are unaffected, but it feels bad when we think about it. It's part of life. The only reason it bothers now is that 1. It's a social setting so people assume the norm and feel they should feel bad 2. It's a famous person.

It's always bad when someone dies, but death is a natural thing I've had enough people die in my life that lingering on it won't matter.
Famous or not, irritated or not just because someone has a different opinion of life and death so is indifferent regarding something. He told me to "go ahead" and report him and said "got tv twitch as name and complain after that i mori I mean stream snipe"
I don't have twitch.tv in my name as my IGN is Black_Fence I do however had a link to my twitch in my profile bio on steam.
My concern is this guy doing it to multiple people ruining their games and just being toxic on DBD in total. I left the match as he killed me and didn't spectate my friends like I normally do to avoid them getting snipped but I think it is totally unjust for him to get away with it. I don't want to go to waste my time editing my video down and uploading evidence if it is not bannable but I think it should go against the "using other programmes to gain competitive advantage" do it not?
I tend to mori streamers as most I have met are extremely toxic, but I wont ruin my game for it. Stream sniping is disgusting tho I'm sorry u had that experience.
