  • Honestly 2 months ago this game had reached a point where at rank 1 I didnt even want to play killer anymore. It was so unbalanced (unless you bandwagon nurse or billy) and survivors had a huge advantage. Even the games I won were very difficult and left me feeling exasperated after every harrowing match!

I recently came back last week and started playing again and I must say it seems much more stable now. It seems like each side is having to struggle in their own way to do well, and that all around it comes down to player skill. I have been able to use killers at low rank recently that I normally cant use and survivors are putting up good fights but not being able to abuse me as much as before. Im not even sure what the exact changes have been but all around I think that DBD is in its best form yet.
My only beef is insta blind is back with flashlights i have been dealing with a lof bogus saves as killer, from the back or side, but i wont complain. We are getting there slowly but surely!

Dude, I sometimes forget I have Whispers equipped and start wondering what all the noise is (it's Whispers).

Lol what EXACTLY does whispers do, in detail? Ive never used it i always seemed like a perk that would be only helpful once per game or not really at all.
  • Spirit is a great killer and also viable at low rank. I hit rank 1 my first time using her. I find that using a headset really helps with her. In phase walk it is easier to track survivors by there footsteps or groans if you have hit them.
When using her power try to predict where they are going and cut them off when they are running around objects or buildings instead of directly chasing the scratch marks. Remember the scratch marks are delayed. Your ears are not. As soon as you hear them close pop out of phase walk and go for the lunge. It takes practice but once you get good at this survivors will have a very hard time winning a chase.
My last tip is to not be afraid to use spirits power to quickly run between gens. Spirit has great map control and even if you see a survivor and have to wait for phase to recharge, dont panic! Spirit can catch up to anyone in short order. This lets you keep people off of generators,  and then get back to hooks quickly. She is really great!

    I love her long time

  • Exactly! Lol i was getting so frusterated when i would pick someone up and immediately get flashed. I probably downed each lf them 3 times each, but I kept going for the pickup when I could have morid the balls off of them. Keep in mind i hit rank 1 killer last season and have about 500 hours in this game(mostly survivor) lol. I should not be forgetting
  • Clown is my 3rd best killer, I really enjoy playing him because he is fast and has some decent personal perks, however i agree that his power is somewhat limited in effectiveness when playing against a good runner who can track your bottle throws and still evade you or make you miss. Also it doesnt do enough to actually hinder a survivor for long enough to make a significant diffrence without addons.
Clown is a mid tier killer who can be very good or be clowned himself. It all depemds on the caliber of survivors you are facing and their knowledge of the game.
That being said with the survivors out there becoming more and more skilled everyday, clown becomes less amd less of a viable killer at lower ranks
  • Disagree with Hag being so low. Out of the 4 Killers I play (Doctjor, Pig, Freddy, Hag) I feel she's my strongest Killer by a decent margin.

You play the worst 4 killers in the game on everyones tier list man! Lol You must be a masochist
  • Playing as Freddy and Being told to take off bloodwarden and that I have no skill when the player in question waited inside the gates after I hooked his teamate and got caught lol. Quit playin like a n00b bud!
Or was it when a player suggested i committ suicide for tunneling them when I literally just kept finding them during the game and no one else! Lol I even tried hunting down the rescuer and wind up running smack into this kid again on other side of map lol. But this is and wasnt tunneling he just was unfortunate or sucked
  • I took a 2 month break from this game and they still havent touched Freddy? Face it people the devs are not going to do anything about him.
  • I was a freddy main until rank 1-3. Forget that noise!
  • Rank 1 Killer (Freddy Main)
I love Freddy so much, but he would be so much more fun if the survivors were in more danger when pulled into the dream world and not just minorly inconvenienced.
To get out of the dream state should require you to find another survivor or a designated "hot spot" not just miss a skill check!
I also think take away Freddys aura reading ability and instead make it so that if a survivor stays in the dream state for more than 1 minute he gets the "exposed status" and his aura then gets revealed to freddy when outside his terror radius. This would make Freddy much more scary and actually make survivors fear the dream state, as well as force them to abandon gens and seek out a way to wake up. (Generators should not be able to be used to wake up)
Instead of self care waking ppl up i think there should be certain "hotspots" in the map where survivors have to pass a few skill checks or one really hard one and (perhaps they burn themselves on a camp fire to wake up?) just like the pig :)
Other than that maybe a base speed buff? I like the way he plays now he just needs some balancing tweaks.
  • Hmm ..wow I guess it truly is a mix on console! Thats good tho! I was hoping to start using The Cannibal more since he is less used, for obvious reasons. He is fun to play tho just he gets abused at lower rank unless your really good or have great perks and add ons. Thanks for the input everyone. I may even give The Hag a go since I didnt see her mentioned
  • Anyone who says rank doesnt matter is either seriously delusional, plays at high rank and doesnt know what they are saying, or has just found their personal skill cap for this game and cant get any higher. Its absolutely proposterous to state otherwise.
The way the ranking system works is a progressional reward system. Ranks are rewarded based on consistency in playing good and completing objectives. You have to have more good games than bad ones in order to rank down, and you have good games by completing the criteria of the emblem system, which in itself demands that survivors put themselves out there and get better at the game!
To be at low rank shows that on average, you are consistently getting more wins and playing smarter. It shows thst you have a better foundational knowledge of the game and can adapt to its many variables! You are up against much better players and still managing to win due to your knowledge of the game and experience. So rank equals skill, hands down!
If this wasnt the case then explain to me how I powered through ranks 20-8 no problems with tons of 4ks as killer and then now at rank 5-2 (2 being the best Ive reached) im getting maybe 50/50 on wins. I know why! Im not facing RATS anymore, but skilled and knowledgable people. Its simple.
And while I personally found survivor to be ezpz to play (20 to rank 1 in 2 weeks) I can also say that its the same as far as skill and rank. You can almost smell a noob and just know when a noob is gonna mess up or screw their teamate over and I find that at rank 3-1 survivors RARELY mess up. It shows me that exoeroence and knowledge equals skill in Dbd!
  • The key to her tracking ability is to stop relying on scratch marks to do it. Lol. With the Spirit you want to have a good headset and use your ears! She is better at tracking sound than trying to follow prints. Also you have to be really intelligent and predict survivor movements before using yamokas haunting, especially if they arent injured. I get the jump on a lot of people by just knowing where they are going or how they are thinking.

Also people are forgetting that her phase walk gives her a massive advantage over every other killer, except nurse and billy, for being able to patrol gens and not have to camp. She moves around quickly. With the right perks in the right hands she is an effective killer at any rank. Im rank 2 before people critisize. Practice makes perfect with her just like nurse

Just another kick in the killers balls in my opinion. If they keep this crap up no one will even want to play killer soon. Then the survivors can have it how they have always wanted it and just do all the gens and leave without even seeing a killer lol. Fun game lately DEVS...Not! Every change you have made lately has been for the worse if you are a killer. Im getting seriously tired of the favoritism

    Not jokes? Wow.

You know you don't have to camp if you just get better at the game, right?

    Right @Orion ?

I never camp nor did I say I did. I simply stated that the Devs are continuously messing with the already beat up killers and now penalizing what some players call an effective startegy lol. I just saw a dev last week say in this forum that killers were etitled to camp if they chose to. Now they are penalizing it because survivors are crying again. I just think they need to stop catering to the survivor masses who complain about literally every dynamic of the game.
Ps I dont care who u think you are, you are not a God at Dbd, which is how you act. Your opinions are just that; your opinions and arent law. Basically dude you are on here to act like you know everything and to troll ppl so please just shut up and stay out of the conversations if you cant be informative or plesant.
  • I agree wholeheartedly that base killer speeds are way to slow for most of the maps and how large they are. Also I agree that killers are waaay too negatively effected by their action speeds in relation to survivors.

Its so annoying having to play catch up or force the mindgame after a survivor hops through a window. When it happens 20 times in a single chase it becomes obvious that the maps are too tilted towards survivors. And yes it does take approximately the same amount of time, on average, to hook 1 survivor as it does to do a generator.

That being said a killer may have to hook 4 moving targets, a maximum of 12 times in order to get a "complete victory" (4k).  So killer has 12 moving objectives (Max), vs 5 static objectives (generators) for the survivors. The math seems off.

I realize that as killer you are not entitled to a 4k every game, nor should you expect one especially at lower rank. However, some matches are so hard to even kill 1 or 2 ppl when they know the maps so well and the killer has so many disadvantages! Time being his biggest enemy.

The moral of the story is that almost every single killer needs a buff or 5. The maps need to be shrunk down and the gens and pallets need to be randomized and then we will see the real skilled players find rank 1 and the scum will float back to the top at rank 20 :) Killers and Survivors (Victims) will all find their proper place in the fog!
  • Fair enough and honestly if that is the case then mad Kudos to you man! Ive really been struggling lately at rank 3 killer so Im a little frusterated with the game. Doesnt seem to matter what strategy I go with or how adaptable I play, i just always seem to get the best runners and loopers. Any general tips then that you can give?? Like i feel like they should randomize pallets a little more or something? These survivors lately have these maps memorized pallet by pallet loop by loop
  • @The_Fallen_Utopia 9said:
I always say people should play as they want to play so I agree with this. There is no rule saying killers can't camp.

The devs even explicity explained that killers are allowed to camp, survivors just dont wanna believe the truth

Except now in the ptb 2.3 killers are penalized on chase emblem now if they are within 16 meters of a hooked player so the Devs are just doing what the survivors all cry about. Its BS
  • That and any killer at rank 1 who says that 90 percent of their games are 4 mans is full of crap and no longer holds any merit w me in this forum. Lies sir...Lies. No 1 is that good
  • Highly rec Turtle Beach Amplified 60px My Spirit ganeplay is off the charts I can hear every breath in phase walk lol

  • Dbd has the most toxic community around on ps4
  • Wow ######### DEVS! Freddy needs a huge Buff not another Nerf seriously get your crap together or I wont spend another dollar on this game! How many killers need to complain before the devs kiss our asses for a bit instead of the toxic, crybaby ass survivor community. That whole community needs a diaper change.
  • I just bought the Spirit yesterday. Im rank 4 killer no pips. 6 games later im rank 3 what does that tell you? I havent even had a single bad game with her at rank 4 including two 4 mans my first two matches. I am really enjoying her power as well as the ability to truly mindgame survivors.
I dont even have and good perks besides her unique ones, or add ons and im doing well. You have to have a good knowledge of survivor gameplay and a good sense of directional judgement to use her power effectively at which point perks and add ons just boost her strength.
A pair of good turtle beach headset will make sure you hear every movement and sound which is crucial for tracking survivors in phase walk.
To be good with Spirit you have to "git gud" at using your ears and have a good instinct for knowing what a survivor is gonna do or where they will try to go.
  • I just bought the Spirit and I have a feeling she is fast becoming my favorute killer :) I have played about 6 games with her and havent had a bad game yet! I was rank 4 killer when i got her. I got two 4 mans my first 2 games, and a 3 man w hatch esacape on my third. Got only 1k next game but still got brutal killer somehow lol and then a 3 man followed by a 2man. Every game was a good one though! I never depiped even on my worst game. Needless to say im now rank 3 and cant wait to get her good perks and add ons since im already destroying ppl without them lol
  • Rank 4 killer. 1st time using her I dont see the problem.
  • Proposal 5.
    Git gud

^^ I garuntee you this dude would get 0k as a killer. I can tell for certain, just from his weak comment. He talks about gittin gud but has no idea what its like to have to actually be skilled in dbd. First game against a micd up team and hed be opening a thread crying about it.
  • And for the pig my biggest suggestion is to try and leave yourself a large field of vision at all times and constantly rotate camera to catch her sneaking. If you can see her coming a mile off you have effectively stripped her of her power
  • Honestly my friend, every player has a killer they absolutely hate and do terrible against most games, or at least really struggle to do good against.
My suggestion is really focus on your looping and pallet game. Getting away from the killer has way more to do with enviornment and location during chases than anything else. Perks are a "supplement" to a good player not a requirement to win, however you should choose the perks that best suit your style of play. Practice your jukes, 360's, memorize the areas where pallets and windows appear and never run in the open or in a straight line. The only way to get better at dbd is through patient trial and error and a lot of bad games lol
Good luck out there and remember to always have fun!
  • Happened to me twice while playing yesterday. At first i thought I must have just clipped the wall directly in front of me when i threw the bottle but then it happened again immediately afterwards. Went to toss a bottle down a hall and it blew up right in my face. I think it is a bug to do with hitboxes when throwing through doorways and windows but im not sure
  •  As a rank 1-5 killer and survivor Its easy for me to tell when Im being 4SWF'd. If you cant find anyone, gens are being done rapidly, and every save is exceptionally timed. Flashlight spamming and body blocking out the wazoo! When your perks arent counting for squat because the whole team knows where your hex is or always knows your position. Hatch location given away by spectators etc.
Basically it takes 3 to 5 minutes to tell if i am against a swf bully squad and then i will instantly dc :) I give the group a chance to prove they are not toxic and if they are im gone!
It is currently the only way to combat 4 man swf bs. I refuse to play an unbalanced game against toxic people who use meta game tactics to win. So cry all you want survivors. Stop playing in a greiving manner and we killers wont have to do desperate things to make it even partly enjoyable.
Also, on a side note, survivors are famous for post game salt after being killed even though the whole team was running self care, decisive strike, unbreakable, adrenaline, borrowed time etc. Survivors at rank 1-5 all use meta perks and then whine when they lose and call the killer entitled lmao!
Point here is more survivors need to play as killer in order to truly understand the way the game leans towards survivor play. Otherwise the ignorance will never end...

  •  I love when a noob doesnt understand blood warden and waits within the exit gates once theyre open. Seeing them try and run through the gate when I get there, and the following panic ridden sprint is priceless! You can almost hear the player cussing on the other end lol. Its even more fun to do to ppl as Freddy because it is really horrible being pulled back into dream world right in front of the open (Blocked) exit and then downed and put on a hook! Lol I suppose this is why its one of his personal perks :)
  • Yup... Anyone who mains Laurie strode or David King
  • Also bear in mind one of those matches was a war zone from start to finish! The survivors really made me work for the kills and I had hooked every man 3 times ffs! Only time I've ever had to do that, however that was more to do with the caliber of survivors i was up against than the map.

Personally I have played the map 3 times, all 3 times as Freddy. I got two 4 mans and a 3 man w hatch escape. Its a small map with not many places to run to so, imo it is balanced towards the killer. Then again i have yet to play it as survivor but I have watched a few struggle in the new setting.

    At what rank?
    Sounds like noobstomping.

Rank 5 my man! I was equally as suprised but than again I main freddy and have never had problems 4 manning even at rank 3 which is the farthest Ive come. If i wasnt using my main it probably would have been different.
  • Lary's is bad for survivors. Ironically, it's horrible for Billy. Though, the library is so safe it's pretty redonkulous.

Dude! Have you ever tried chasing an even semi-decent survivor through lery's! Its a quick way to a brain annurism or a panic attack! The amount of loops and windows, not to mention turns and clutter, let alone the horrible pallet placement is enough to make even the most seasoned killer want to dc! I am a rank 3 killer and have had multiple matches where I cant catch a single person in Lerys just because of the layout!

  • Dont focus on any one objective, but be as un predictable and random as you can be. Keep moving and kicking gens, all the while continuously pulling survivors into the dream world to slow the game down. Keep chases short and try to down survivors at opportune moments. With freddy 3 gen strat is a very effective tool for keeping control of the map! Dont be afraid to punish altruism severely and tunnel tunnel tunnel. Picking players off fast is key to a 4 man. Perk wise run:
Nurses calling to see anyones aura who trys to self care/wake up in your terror radius. Also helps see teamates healing downed survivors in your terror radius.
Blood Warden 3 is a clutch end game tool for freddy, especially if you lost control of the gens during the match!
Remember Me is also great. Abuse the obsession and slug them. Dont kill them until you have maxed out the perk! This will allow you to keep control of the game if you get gen rushed or there are still 3 to 4 survivors alive at the end.
Bamboozle (if you have problems being looped) or Make Your Choice is a good option for super altruistic teams.
Last but not least if you are getting bullied or just cant seem to get the game going in your favor, NOED is a great choice for a desperate freddy!
Just remember to be everywhere at once! (Figuratively) and keep the survivors busy waking up while you pick your timing and your targets!

  • "every killer wrecks people until they git gud. name one that doesnt"

At least EVERY other killer still has a chance against a team that knows their mechanics down to a science. If a whole team knows how to play against Freddy and works together, he literally has his balls cut off and becomes useless. All the other killers still have a good shot at winning. Freddy has his power used against him by good survivors which makes his only ability a detriment rather than a weapon!
  • Haha and we thought the community was toxic and salty now! Adding taunts would be a shitshow lol.
  • Anyone find a killer that isn't camping and tunneling at Rank 1?

No because tunneling is the only way to systematically eradicate a 4 man SWF, which is 90 percent of rank 1 games. Tunneling is the way!
  • Play a match as survivor and only do gens. I garuntee you you will not pip. You might even depip! There are 4 emblem categories for a reason. When the gens get rushed no one gets any real bloodpoints, everyone uses up their addons and the game feels like a premature ejaculation. No one leaves satisfied or feeling very good about themselves. I hate when survivors say "What else can we do? :(:(:(" Try having some balls and taking a hit for a player, make a few saves, take down a totem or search chests etc. Exposure is the last thing a survivor wants but exactly what a GREAT survivor thrives on! I guess gen rushing isnt wrong, but it is a tactic used by cowards and people afraid to be in any sort of extended game. Its for noobs who only want to say they escaped and dont care about maximizing BP's
  • Freddy main. I run remember me, blood warden, fire up, and nurses calling.

Generally I try to be as disruptive as possible with freddy. The more unpredictable you are with him the better. Try to kick as many gens as possible and pull as many ppl into the dream world as you can at the same time. Its easy to get out of dream state but also time consuming! Focus on keeping the players off the gens and take them down at opportune moments. You cant be impatient with freddy, and shouldnt committ to long chases. Pull em in the dream world and if you cant down em fast let em go and hunt down the next one. Its a wear and tear style of play that is very effective and frusterating for survivors. Which is fitting for Freddy since he likes to toy with his victims before the kill :)

I am not afraid to slug a bit with freddy if the game is going fast or if the players are being too altruistic it suits me. Leave a guy down and stay close enough that when someone tries to heal them i see it with nurses calling and can now get a 2 for 1. This makes freddy's aura game OP. Its also a great perk for all those self care users who try and heal in your terror radius to snap out of dream world. Now you can see the bastards!

Remember me keeps the gates shut up to 30 seconds longer which is very helpful end game, especially if theres still 3 or 4 alive! And blood warden is a clutch Freddy perk! I get someone almost every game hiding in an exit after i secure Blood warden and it feels like a free kill! Not to mention seeing the fear in a survivior as they cant get out of the exit gate lmao! Fire up keeps me from being slowed down by pallets and windows and i can pick up and drop players faster which is super helpful late to end game!

The keys to being a good Freddy are map control (3 gen rule), staying active with pulling survivors into the dream world, careful selection of who to chase and when, and strategic slugging.

Also NOED is a great option for freddy if your really struggling to get kills.

    Dont fall asleep!

  • There are several boards devoted to this topic and basically all we know is that the entity feeds on the hope of the survivors. Like previously stated, not much is known about the relationship between the killers and the entity other than that they all were somehow drawn to or randomly stumbled upon the entities realm.

Ive heard rumors that their are golden toolboxes you can see in the maps, just out of reach, and of ways to permanently escape the trials that no one has figured out yet. Even a way to kill the killer like in f13, but through a very specific series of events and circumstances. BUT, its all probably just hype the devs use to build suspense and promote the game. We shall see
  • From my understanding the killers dont want to be in the fog or trials anymore than the survivors do. Maybe minus the clown or Hilbilly, because based on their bios Hillbilly is just a ruthless killer by nature it is all he knows; and the clown seemed to enjoy killing before he stumbled into the entities realm.

Lore wise Leatherface didnt like to kill, he did so out of fear that his family would be found out to be cannibals. Freddy, according to his bio had his powers changed by the entity, which I dont think he would have appreciated. Let alone the fact that he was always the type to haunt a victim and toy with them. Now the entity forces him to kill like a common slasher.

I guess the way I see it, all characters, killers and survivors alike are all sucked into the entities game and forced to play it over and over again against their will. Whether they enjoy the sport of the kill is trivial almost to the point of being irrelevant. No one who enters the entities realm has any form of choice. As far as we know...

  • I try not to tunnel, even to the point of equipping make your choice as a perk. However when survivors preform a rescue and im not even 40 meters from the hook it forces me to tunnel. A lot of the time when I get back to the hook the injured survivor is the only one I see. I wont let a guy go just so he doesnt "feel" tunneled. If I see you Im coming after you whether its your 1st time on hook or your last! Also, at rank 1-5 tunneling becomes your only way of eliminating survivors without getting 8 hooks and no kills! It has happened to me so many times I wont even accept an argument on this point. Survivors force tunneling to occur. No killer is going to just let players walk away, especially in a swf group where they are all playing optimal! It is literally the only way to come close to winning against a solid team.
  • Try equipping iron grasp as a perk if people are being overly agressive with the body blocking. With iron grasp you can smack 3 survivors and still get your hook on the 4th player. Body blocking is a viable and reasonable strategy if that is the route the survivors wish to take, however it has to be done right or it can fail miserably and have a whole team downed in no time! Iron grasp is the best defence against body blockers!
  • Self care is used for more than just a means to heal yourself. Self care opens up the door to take hits for other players and be a little more risky around the killer. You are way more likely to go for a save or to to body block a killer with self care on than without. It adds more options for strategizing as a survivor and makes killers have to be committed to hooking a player not just injuring them. You also run the risk of failing a heal skill check and giving away your position to the killer so its not as risk free as it seems either.
  • Just try to please the entity. This is all that matters. This is all that ever mattered.

Amen to that. They need to reverse the skill checks on freddy so that you need to hit a great skill check on self care to wake up. Not fail one! If they do this i will have no more problems and dont even need a buff. Maybe a small speed buff is in order but even still I destroy everyone w Freddy as it is. If they give me a buff im gonna be retiring survivors. on the daily!

But then Survivors will get so good at great skill check that Hex: Ruin stocks will plummet in value!

Haha maybe, but at least wed see Hex:Ruin way less at rank 1. As it is 100% of killers use it and frankly, im just so tired of it lol.
P.s I sincerley doubt it man! People still fail skill checks on gens on the regular. If they havent perfected it by now they never will lol
