  • Wraith's stealthy addons, in addition to his playstyle, are completely jettisoned when he's stuck with a terror radius in cloak. At least he's a fast boi.

Also, yeah, Nurse has so many meme addons it's not remotely funny.

Pig only gets one RBT and it's applied at the start of the game, but basically all of her addons are focused on Jigsaw boxes, so... she's almost addonless.

Mikey's stuck in tier one and only one of his addons actually helps him with that. At least he isn't Burger King Myers in this setup anymore.

Billy's a 110 with a chainsaw that doesn't even instadown, the poor kid.

Hag's also kind of screwed when she has so many insanely good addons but they're all negated by Scarred Hand. She's basically just playing with Scarred Hand and Waterlogged Shoe (and Disfigured Ear for no real reason), so she's a sort of weird bodyblocking Clown that screams into your headphones.

  • Half the reason I play Plague is because I don't have to see a survivor to track them and they can't Iron Will me. My eyes are crap; I use sound most of the time anyway.

Try playing killer - you'll realize just how vital those injured sounds and footsteps are to gameplay.

  • I have the most fun as killer, but I have less fun when I actually kill survivors. I prefer to knock people around and then relent once I've gotten two hooks on everyone, a couple more chases, and some maxed categories. Good vibes abound at the end of a good match - I get my fill of both competitive and friendly gaming and I get item gifts way more often than I get teabags. (Though MMR is giving me a run for my money... emblem system suited me much better. I'm forced to play normal half the time just to keep myself out of the kiddie pool.)

I do have good moments on survivor, but I dislike how little of the match is actually under my control. There isn't much I can do if a teammate ragequits a minute in, or it's a hard tunneler, or a facecamper, or it's Hag/Bubba/Trapper and my teammates just run into the meat grinder no thoughts head empty, or if someone used all the pallets, or if everyone did all the corner gens at the start of the game, or if I spend the first half of the match being chased and left to dangle on a hook, or if I get farmed... and so on. One of the reasons I like killer so much is because unless I'm facing a really strong team, I'm the one who gets to control how the match goes (and attempt to maximize the fun value.) I can choose when I'm going to be competitive, I can choose when I'm going to be memey, I can choose to punish a player for screwing over their team or give them a break when they've had a rough run of things. Obviously this is not the dynamic at top MMR, but it sure as hell isn't in solo queue either, and that's where I reside as survivor.

That said, killer definitely has greater stress potential. Highs are higher, lows are lower - most likely because even when everything goes wrong as survivor, it's rare that it's your fault, as opposed to a big confluence of factors that all players contributed to. Also because it isn't fun to be the 1 in a 4v1 where the 4 are looking to make people miserable. At least when it's the other way around, you can commiserate with the other survivors.

    Oh, how ironic this is...

"They shouldn't get rewarded for being outplayed."

As if Dead Hard hasn't done this for years now.

That post was extremely, extremely sarcastic. :P

Really, though, I unironically like this idea. One of the big problems with Coup De Grace, besides the limited tokens, is that you can't control when you use it; you either get a mega lunge or you can't lunge, which makes it difficult to use. Either you save the lunges and hamper yourself when you just need a regular lunge, or you burn through the tokens faster than you need. So having it be an active ability would be a great functional improvement. I'd probably make the CD longer so that the killer doesn't have this every single chase (...which... gets a little uncomfortable when every single survivor runs Dead Hard, because suddenly it's an equivalent, but it still doesn't feel right to me because 40s is basically the same as not having a cooldown and the killer has way less downtime than survivors), but otherwise this would be a really sensible improvement.

  • I'm okay with the way things are because there's always two or four paths to the goal - survivor generic, survivor specific (requiring a certain character or their perks), killer generic, and killer specific. You can always complete a tome no matter what characters you have unlocked and what side you want to play, and there's always going to be some missions that require exclusive characters.

That said, I really do like the both sides missions and wouldn't mind seeing them more prevalent. But I wouldn't want all exclusives to go away. It was the rift that got me to start playing killer to begin with! And sometimes it incentivizes me to switch things up when I'm getting too comfortable playing one side or the other.

  • Yeah, solo survivor can be hell. If nothing else, it gives you a lot of empathy for when you go back to playing killer.

Raising your matchmaking will get you better teammates, so playing some more SWF and escaping will help weed out the worst of the lot for when you play solo - but this isn't a problem that will ever fully go away. Just wait until you have a chance to play the game while the DC penalty is off...

  • I'm not sure DS and NOED are comparable. DS still functions as an anti-tunnel perk and hasn't changed in the endgame at all; the issue with old DS was that survivors could do anything and the perk was still active for a full minute, so they could do gens and totems in front of the killer and the killer couldn't really do anything but slug them at best, because you couldn't pick them up without eating a five second stun. But that's for things before the gates get powered - all that's changed in the NOED endgame is that DS deactivates if you unhook someone.

NOED can be handled in three ways, and they're all workable.

-Cleanse all dull totems early on. While people say 'do bones' quite a lot, this is often your worst option; doable, but a timewaster, and hard in solo queue without totem finder perks. Still, I like to hunt dull totems if the killer is struggling and doing a poor job - this is often an indicator of NOED, since weaker players are more likely to use it than confident ones.

-Find the totem and cleanse it. The killer can't guard it when they also have a hook and exit gates to guard, and you can expedite this by noting the positions of dull totems you find earlier in the trial, then going back and checking them if NOED appears. I prefer this to cleansing dull totems, because it increases the odds of NOED spawning somewhere you can quickly find; cleansing is a worse choice than this if your team doesn't find all five totems.

-Just leave. The killer can typically only get one player with NOED before the gates open. If they go for more than one, you can try to slip around them and free their previous victim, but this is very dangerous. Your best bet is to cut your losses.

NOED slaughters teams when everyone runs back to try and extract the hooked player before dealing with the totem. This is frequently what NOED players bank on. Don't feed that playstyle - either deal with the totem or leave the killer to their single NOED hook.

  • I already completed the challenge, so I can't test it, but I have heard that others are having issues with this challenge - you're not the only one. Dead Hardy (Dead Hard near a killer's swing to evade it) also seems unobtainable. I'd guess that's because of hit validation changing something, but I can't tell what would have changed about this one.

  • I don't disagree that keys got nerfed too hard and that they're the worst survivor item now, but claiming moris are more useful than them is disingenuous. Yeah, moris are a second-hook DS counter, as well as a counter to sabo teams and flashlight saves. That has some use. (Looking cool, while awesome, isn't exactly useful.) Keys can now open the hatch if you're the last survivor and the killer closed it before you. This is pretty damn niche, but like second hook DS, still does have some cases where it'll be useful - though like moris, you won't be able to tell if you'll need it when you bring it into the trial. And keys still have good addons - a free Bond or Blood Pact without the speed boost, and of course wallhacks during a chase. So I'd hardly say keys are less useful than moris.

I'm not saying keys are useful, mind. They both suck. But I do think keys would have been easier to make into something that's not quite as sucky as they are now than moris were. And key addons need a pass, because addons are all the keys have now - and a few of the addons are focused on just preserving the key, which is a little obsolete now.

The main thing that needed to be fixed with keys was the 1 kill 3 escape situation where the killer had a 3-gen and the remaining survivors could elect to nope out of the game. That was stupid. But honestly I'd have been fine with keys just allowing the survivor that carried it to escape, and adding in the opening time so that you can't key out mid-chase. The current hatch situation seems overly useless.

  • I can't speak for the first - I think they said no, but I'm not certain of that - but the current surge in cheaters has maybe been going on for two months? It always comes in waves; someone figures out how to get around the anticheat, it propagates, and more and more cheaters flood the game until the anticheat is updated. BHVR's... token acknowledged the problem, but we haven't seen any specific good news in this regard. I'm not even sure BHVR has any agency with this issue - they might not be able to do anything other than beg EAC to look at the issue or start looking for a different anticheat program.

He is Pay To Win for sure.

Imagine a survivor DLC that was PTW. Would have been dealt with a long time ago.

I mean, Laurie was for a long time; DS was king of the loadouts for several years, and Object was unbelievably broken on SWFs. Only got nerfed earlier this year.

Anyway. I don't entirely disagree with the OP here, but I think that needs to be a game mechanic change or a change to how Bubba operates as a killer. I won't pretend that Basement Bubba is in any way healthy for the game or desirable, and discouraging camping will always be a good thing (who wouldn't prefer a dynamic game over a boring one with no options?) but disabling isn't the answer, it's rebalancing.

  • Haddonfield.

RPD's at least really cool aesthetically, and it's a little more equal-opportunity awful for everyone.

  • I'm fine with a 4-man escape as long as I feel I played well.

I feel bleh about a game if I got less than 6 hooks, and pretty frustrated if I get seriously outplayed and the team was douchey about it. Humiliation might be getting 1-2 hooks against a clicky clicky tbag squad.

  • If everyone uses them, you'll probably manage to pop a tangled gen or two.

Otherwise... yeah. I hope the next time they do this, it's more like the lunar new year event.

  • While I'd like more emotes (also as the killer, honestly, it'd be nice to have more tools than nodding and occasional M2 options), it's difficult to control how things get used and what purpose, so I don't know that it'd be unambiguously positive. The things we already have certainly aren't. A survivor that spams tbags rapidly at a pallet or gate is being a dick - a survivor that crouches once or twice is likely saying 'thank you', and a survivor that starts bouncing up and down without any clear reason to taunt might just be being silly, especially if they should be running away and they're not. Pointing can be friendly or taunting, 'come here' can be a 'follow me and check out this weird thing' (I had a Bill a few days ago that really wanted me to show me a glitched pumpkin on Midwich) or 'hey, please help me with this challenge' or a 'go on, hit me' or a 'haha chase me noob' or an 'I'm not going to leave until you chase me out so I can feel triumphant about it.' I'm pretty sure more emotes would be more of the same. People would find ways to be friendly with them and people would find ways to be rude with them.

Whenever I want to give the equivalent of a thumbs up, I either give my item or I point and then nod. (Pointing and shaking your head is a 'screw you' I've seen several other survivors do.)

  • @GuyFawx said:

Dont waste your time in chat at low ranks its full of ignorant and grumpy players. Tunneling isnt fun for anyone but it happens sometimes and it will often loose you the game as a killer.

Low rank chat is miles, miles better than high rank chat when it comes to sportsmanship and general vibes. Many of the players there haven't learned to be dicks yet and they're still actually having fun with this game.

  • Any survivor who complains about you tunneling them when their teammates are all on death hook and they aren't is either incredibly selfish, an idiot, or both. It's basically the kindest thing the killer can do for the team, to focus on the one player that won't be removed from the match. The switch to 4v1 to 3v1 is when the balance of the game tips hard in the killer's favor and it's in the killer's best interest to pull that off as soon as possible.

If you get the full 8 hooks before killing anyone, that's the polar opposite of tunneling.

I guess the only consolation I can give is that sometimes you will get survivors who recognize you spread hooks and thank you for playing fairly. It's not all Fengs out there.

  • In that case, I'd probably design Nemesis to focus on him transforming into something more adaptive and dangerous over time. This isn't super well thought out, but even if the scale of his transformations in RE3 wouldn't fit the DBD map, I think something that changes not only his powers but his model (noticeably, not just some boils on his fist) would be really cool.

He keeps his tier system, but it's progressed in a different way - perhaps gens being done, perhaps number of landed attacks or hooks, perhaps it's just a flat time limit and the longer the trial goes the more dangerous he gets, but he'd start with a 16m TR and an extremely underwhelming power (if he even has one at all in the first stage) and gradually ramp up - both in strength and TR (and perhaps the TR climbing above 32m at its peak.) So a bit like Myers in concept, except instead of raw stat boosts, it's abilities he unlocks. Possibly even abilities replacing each other if having several concurrently would be too powerful or unwieldy. In his phases you could have a rush attack, the tentacle (with less range or quick draw than it is now to balance it out), and something deadly in his final tier. If a >115% movement speed was at all possible to balance, I'd love to see it, but I'm skeptical that it is - an instadown's the simpler, if already done to death, option. If he still breaks pallets, I think that should be with a charge attack and not the tentacle. And I think I'd scrap the idea of infecting survivors with the T-virus entirely, because you can't really do 'survivors infected with a zombie virus' properly without that being the killer's entire power, and it's mostly tangential to Nemesis anyway.

But pretty much the thing I'd want to see is Nemesis getting more brutal and threatening as the match goes on.

  • It's one thing to try to reimagine Nemesis, but the restrictions you've provided don't allow room for that. The zombies are easily the lesser portion of Nemesis's power - the tentacle is the bulk of his strength, and contamination is a system meant to limit its power rather than strengthen it. The point is, you can't really keep the tentacle and add anything meaningful onto his power, because being able to hit survivors through windows and pallets with really high reactivity and break pallets with very little time investment is a big deal.

Nemesis is just way too dangerous in his 'real' incarnation to be translated properly to DBD. It's like a reverse power creep. He's not something that can be handled by a group of four ordinary people, some pallets, and a flashlight, but to be in DBD he has to be. Add in that there are already killers that do full-tilt charging around and killers can't just be reskins of previous killers, and adding a rush ability on top of a ranged attack would be highly unbalanced (to say nothing of a rocket launcher, or mutating into a massive monster as the match goes on) and yeah.

  • Zero. Might happen once every two weeks. Or on Tuesday when Steam refreshes, if I forget to watch out for it.

  • Damn, that's a solid screenshot. Could honestly be promo art, it's so well composed. Demo grabbing one of the tendrils on the ground was a really cool touch.

But that's the thing. I went like 6 rounds just walking around, smashing pumpkins and walls, completely avoiding survivors and letting them leave and I still can't de-pip. I would end the game with like 1000 points and still get brutal killer so yeah I think it is a bug.

"Sigh" so I'm stuck with these toxic sweats huh?

Pips are probably bugged, but your matchmaking should ease up regardless of the pips if you're letting survivors escape time and time again. God knows my matchmaking went to hell when I did that - though it does take a while to move significantly upwards or downwards. Also, I find evening and nighttime tend to produce sweatier games on average, and more chill matches happen during the daytime (using general US timezones for the majority.) There's more SWFs queued at night.

  • There's no point in depipping - it no longer affects your matchmaking. Your SBMM will lower if 3 or 4 survivors escape.

Mechanically - I've still depipped, so I think you still can? But at the same time, I've also had matches where I should have depipped and it gave me Brutal Killer anyway, so it seems buggy.

  • Dead Hard for sure. Mainly because I don't tunnel and it's really, really obvious which survivors have Decisive Strike.

Also, DS doesn't constantly roll back my hits and confuse the hell out of me. :U

I loved how Netflix was happy to work with bhvr and gave them a lot of liberties.

I hope that, one day, they'll come back.

Yeah, honestly. The amount of continued content we got was inspiring, compared to other license holders that'd maybe allow one or two outfits and then go dead on the whole thing forever. I was really surprised to hear the news - I mean, we all were, but particularly because it had seemed like that partnership was really healthy up until that point.

Anyway, I'm really going to miss Hawkins and that hole I could patiently wait beneath as a stealth killer whenever I heard the gen up top nearly finished. Maybe I didn't have enough time to interrupt it, but I could sure give a spirited hello to the survivor that'd always drop down afterward.

  • @gammatsunami said:

If I were behaviour to say eff you to netflix, id give it all away free.

BHVR has to pay Netflix royalties for each copy of licensed material that's distributed. Giving everyone all of that material for free is a great way to kill their current funds.

Plus spite decisions don't really look good for attracting future license holders.

  • I've had some issues. I like playing Wraith a lot and yikes, but getting the first hit doesn't count for much anymore. Have to commit way more than I used to. I was also struggling as Nemesis because he already needs to hit survivors three times, and his early game gave everyone else oodles to time to set up boons and reset from that first gen interrupt or two. At least the zombies very occasionally gave me clues as to where the boon zone was. I haven't had a chance to play Hag against boons yet, but she could be nice because she also counters Shadow Step pretty well. I've had some very irritating instances of that boon that stopped me dead, and of course getting rid of it doesn't do anything when it comes back up as soon as you leave the area.

Luckily I don't play at the MMR where survivors play nasty with the green medkit/COH double whammy. Also doesn't hurt to be a Plague main. Had a Plag match yesterday that was two Mikaelas and four medkits. Needless to say, there were DCs. I actually felt guilty, because oof.

thanks i really appericate that but how do i redeem this code on xbox? sorry if its a stupid question.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2616673#Comment_2616673

Unfortunately, the codes are single use only. That code has already been claimed, so it can't be redeemed anymore. There's a Twitter competition you can still enter to have a chance at winning some codes, where retweeting the contest gives you a shot - it ends in half an hour.

  • I got 600k too. So it's probably giving out an approximation rather than an exact 'this is how many bloodpoints you spent on Hawkins offerings.'

Still, 600k is great. More halloween items for all my survivors.

  • Oh boy, another one of these?

NOED only gets the killer more than one kill if the survivors enable it. And I say that as someone who's never run NOED in my life.

If NOED lights up, scan the map for the totem or leave. A good strategy is to pay attention to dull totems you encounter throughout the match, and then check those spots later. People say to do bones, but unless you find all five, it's probably better not to just to increase the odds of NOED spawning somewhere you can quickly find. I've even found some NOEDs because a survivor lit a boon there earlier. The killer can only guard the hook or the NOED, not both, and they'll typically guard the hook because that's where the money's at. But if you run in for a group save, or try to distract them while they still have an instadown and bonus movement speed, don't be surprised when the whole team topples.

(Also, of course NOED has downsides. You use a perk slot for something that only gets value at the end of the match, if you lose the match, and there's the odds of it never going off or getting cleansed before it does anything. Is it the most balanced perk, no, but for as much hate as the perk gets for giving killers who flopped the whole match a party wipe, survivors have to screw up to enable anything more than a kill, maybe two if the killer catches several people at a gate.)

  • It's tricky. I'm guessing the mods were given instructions to make all codes accessible to everyone - they got a little more personal as the day went on and started taking 'requests', but I get the sense that's pushing it, or they would have started PMing people (which could backfire hard, from an administrative standpoint - you just need one person thanking them for it and suddenly there's a line of people asking for codes too, and complaints of favoritism and bias, and so on and so forth.)

That said, I'm a PC user, and I don't begrudge anyone for calling out the problem here - these codes go lightning fast. I've been ten seconds late to one and missed it; that's less than half the time it takes to type in the code manually.

So in the interests of fairness, I don't have an issue with some console-only codes... but I don't think the store system was built to differentiate them. That's something that would have to be done on code generation, if it's even possible. Console DBD and PC DBD are the same platform, it's not like mobile.

For now, the only solution is to check out Twitter or Discord. But it is a shame that this one distribution ended up being so PC-favored - I don't use Twitter and I'm not a fan of large Discord servers, so the forum's my only form of DBD social media. And I've heard the Discord giveaway has been dominated by autoclickers anyway.

I did hear one player suggest that the mods make a thread and PM the code to the first one to reply, and that's a system that could work well across all platforms.

  • I think it's neat that they actually have data on how many Hawkins offerings everyone had. Then again, that's what they do on every PTB.

I'll never say no to bloodpoints, though I'm still sad I don't get to have my first legacy retired item to keep as a neat little trophy. Guessing it was part of the deal and Netflix wanted it gone, same as the weird perk name changes.

  • It's pretty heartbreaking. I did buy some Demo cosmetics while I still have the chance, and I'm glad I already had Scoops Ahoy Steve (one streamer I follow has an event called Steve Saturdays where he cosplays as Steve and he rotates players in from chat to play Steve - got the outfit so I could complete a Scoops Ahoy 4-stack.) I hated Hawkins once, but I came to love it and now I treasure every match I load into the lab.

I wonder if there's ever any chance of the license coming back to DBD? If Netflix's game line fails, would they ever look back to revive the old deal?

The no bloodlust weekend was bad only for the bloodlust gamers.

Bloodlust is a patch job to fix certain loops. Removing it makes it impossible for an M1 killer to catch up to a smart survivor in a select few areas. Anywhere else it's a newbie tool or an 'oh no, you're playing this badly, here's a fruit basket' kind of thing, but until map design is fixed, you can't remove bloodlust.

Drinking water can be hard! The skill check is to make sure it doesn't go down the wrong pipe. If you fail the skill check, you have to choke for a few seconds, which is why there's a loud noise notification.

  • My favorite maps... well, I like playing on Coal Tower because it feels so balanced, but I'm a silly bean and my favorite maps are the ones with props that make it fun to meme on. Dead Dawg Saloon, Father Campbell's Chapel, Gas Heaven even if that map is hell to play killer on... drawing any of these maps means there's potential for fun and games that can be realized at any point in the match.

I also really love Hawkins because of the drop and the sheer hilarity potential of falling on a survivor or having them drop onto you, and Midwich is beautiful and atmospheric and somehow I've never minded drawing it on either side. I've got a fondness for indoor maps that the community doesn't seem to share; they're all really cool to navigate and a lot of detail was poured into them.

No like no exhaustion perks 🤣🤣 sorry for the confusion

...Ohhhhh. Hah. Okay. My bad. I was boggling.

Huh. Actually that'd be a decent test, though yeah, it's technically data they already have. It would be interesting to see high level play without DH, though. Since at high MMR, every survivor always has an exhaustion perk. Sometimes it's Sprint Burst, but there's always something.

No gen regression would just be pretty miserable, though. It's cemented into the meta for a reason and I don't think no exhaustion would balance it out - you can still loop a killer for minutes using map resources before the Dead Hard comes into play. Games with both of these conditions would be intense, but very fast.

I'm pretty sure this would turn into an All-Nurse weekend at light speed.

  • It really wouldn't. No Bloodlust was very bad, but the game was still playable, give or take some near-infinites that could be heartily abussed. No exhaustion would make the game impossible. Infinite Dead Hard, infinite Sprint Burst. Infinite Head On if you want to be super cheeky and stunlock the killer for the whole game. There's nothing even to test here. The killer just flat out cannot catch anyone.

  • I would question what fit of insanity possessed the heads of BHVR to make such a thing possible, and then cower from the shrieking outrage that would descend upon the forum like a great wave.

Use a system that doesn't advertise codes to all that blatantly favors one platform at the expense of all the others?

I mean yeah, they are treating people "equally," but they're not treating people equitably.

I mean, they're doing it on all of their social platforms. The forums are admittedly pretty tilted in favor of PC because there's a speed aspect of copy-and-pasting and I can't think of a public-access way to change that, but Twitter and Discord are a contest and a private message to whoever responds first to a prompt, so those have no inherent bias.

I'm one of the people rooting for totems to be destroyed on snuff (for the tradeoff that snuffing takes longer to do), so version two of your challenge, simulating what would happen if that was the case, is something I should try out once I've got the perks. (I'm less interested in version one because boons never struck me as 1-to-1 hex equivalents and total perk deactivation on snuff would be far too weak for what boons give and the benefits the killer has to finding them versus the survivor equivalent.)

Well that's mean mandy lol, just said I was at work! But damn that's a long code where do you put that?

Store page, top right, under 'Redeem Code.'

Twisted Demo is my favorite Demo skin, though - I bought that one with the shards I got back from the rift pass. Honestly, one of the saddest things about Stranger Things leaving is that we won't see any new Demo outfits. ST had always been really good with negotiating new outfits with BHVR and he was one of the coolest killers to design on, being an actual monster instead of a person. I was really hoping he'd get a blight skin one day.

  • That's a pretty good point. I'm excited stalking the forums hoping to snipe an outfit code, but I can just copy and paste it - a console player is working at a severe disadvantage and it's going to take at least 30 seconds to transcribe that code.

Messaging active users would definitely be another way of doing it. Maybe grabbing random posts from people who posted that day? But there's still potential bias there, or selection of players who really weren't that interested (as opposed to people who are hunting the codes and are) and it leaves it unavailable to people who lurk the forums but don't have an account. It might fix one problem and patch another. Maybe a mix of different methods is the way to go.

Edit: D'oh, apparently that's actually the case. Well, that's good to hear.

As for me, I'm dreaming of Nancy's Justice Seeker outfit or Steve's This Is Not Happening or Last Minute Babysitter.

  • I'd really like this! I know there's an unofficial stats tracker out there, but I think it only works for players on Steam with unprivate profiles and it doesn't track all the things you're thinking of. Ratios in particular would be really cool to see.

  • I'm hoping for a Circle of Healing healing speed nerf, or some limit on how much boons can be blessed. Kinda doubt that'll happen so soon, though.

  • One you missed: I try not to tunnel, but if your rescuer disappears as soon as they unhook you and you're the only person I've located on the whole map, I don't really have room to leave you alone. And if you ran straight at me because you wanted me to eat your Borrowed Time or Decisive Strike, don't complain if I commit.

I especially like the lines about getting wrecked and wrecking the opposing team, because yeah - it makes for better games if everyone has a chance, or at least the opportunity to make plays and earn points. I never like seeing people DC or suicide on hook out of sheer discouragement. I'll start making mistakes on both sides if the game is tipped hard in my favor, and if I'm killer, I might go faffing around the map or hunting pumpkins to let the enemy team reset or do some gens (as survivor, I'll bait a chase and then intentionally screw up, or go around opening chests or memeing, though I also have to do bones as a rule of thumb when the killer's really getting smoked.) Earlier today I went afk for a few minutes in the middle of a game because I'd hammered the survivors so hard. Yesterday a struggling Nemesis didn't see the closest hook and I wiggled off, and I waited for him to down me again rather than running away - he let me escape at the end of the game. A couple of days ago, there was a massive basement pileup and I let the last survivor wiggle off so they could unhook everyone else and get out of the shack before I started chasing again. Stuff like that earns a lot of goodwill.

And of course, the last line is tantamount. We're all just people trying to have fun here. We could stand to take things a little less personally.

  • For me? Xenomorph, Chucky, Scissorman, Jason, and Springtrap are the killers I'd like to see most. Survivors I'm pretty ambivalent on.
