  • The part about energy stealing that's primarily frustrating is that if the killer smacks you off a rift or intercepts you on your way to one, you go down from the cap and need to be able to get back on a generator in order to max it again.

Had a few games where I died at 27/30 and lost out on 10k bloodpoints because the killer didn't respect my final wishes. That part's not fun.

  • An advertisement for exclusive cosmetics in the store.

  • I wish BHVR would clarify this already. Are they going to be available next Halloween for shards? For cells? Are they going away forever? This is important information and I can't understand a reason for their silence besides fear of reprisal.

But yeah, the whole "everything will be available with shards after four weeks!" followed by "and now we're debuting cosmetics that will only be in shop for three weeks!" is... not the most honest framing I've ever seen.

  • Yeah, I saw that too. Checking the Hag's store, the arms I see that cause problems with her new body are Calcified Talons (the blight set), Gnarled Talon (Crypt TV), and Reach of Other (tome 4.) It is slightly visible with her default arm and all recolors, but not as severely as those three.

  • It's not unusual for an event to be choppy on release day. Historically they fix it pretty quickly. Relax.

  • It stacks with syringes, so you toss it on a yellow medkit, get a heal, and then use it mid-chase with either a syringe or a styptic so you can go nyooom with your free hit.

I think it's more for styling on people than actual use. Though I have seen a hacker apply one that made their target move at like 5000% speed, so there was that.

I don't know why the devs always let's one side deny the rewards of the others, killers could down and get point without stealing them, same time for pallet stunning.

That was my thought. The stealing mechanic is really unnecessary unless the killer tunnels you (and even then, getting 10 stuns on the killer and having the chance to deposit twice sounds... unlikely.) Both sides will fill up on void energy pretty early on in their objective.

I remember them saying something last year about why the gens don't give points to everyone and why not every gen is an event gen (which they thankfully did not reimplement), and that being because their design philosophy for Halloween was kind of a competitive "fighting over candy" mindset, or something, and that they design Christmas events to be more everyone-gets-together-and-has-a-good-time. So the edgy behavior of the stealing mechanic might be intentional.

  • @bm33 said:

Survivors only get void energy from gens, pumpkins and stuns - gens being the most efficient way. They lose some void energy if they get downed by the killer. You also only get gen event points from being on the gen when it's completed.

This event encourages survivors to stick to gens to not only earn what they need for void energy but also for event points AND it makes survivors do whatever they need to do to avoid the killer downing them so they don't lose progress they've made with collecting void energy.

If the devs 1. Made it so every survivor still in the match received event BP whenever a gen was completed and 2. Removed the unnecessary stealing mechanic then survivors would probably be more willing to help teammates since they would still be getting BP and wouldn't need to worry about losing progress mid-match.

I'd been wondering why so many people have been left on hook today. This would explain a lot of it. Making the gen points behave more like the lunar new year generators would be a great decision, because I've seen some cases of probable gen sandbagging already.

  • I remember the same thing happened with Plague's Maiden Guard cosmetic, the one that's currently being recolored in the rift. Half of her face lacks animation because normally that part of the face isn't there. Seems like it's the same thing with Swamp Creature Hag.

They could probably rig the mouth better so that it syncs up with her base mouth (maybe it was a clipping issue?), but for the eyes, there's nothing to tie them to, so they just sort of sit there. I don't think they usually create new model animation for skins unless they're legendaries, though I could be wrong - the most we see is usually glowing textures.

It'd be nice if they touched this up, though.

  • Completely reasonable, but a lot of DBD players just want to watch the world (or at least the other side) burn, so I don't know if any amount of signal amplification will reach the right ears.

I'd say that's worse on killer this time around. Went 12 levels without seeing a single event item, and then it was a Serum...on Hag.

Look, sometimes a 110% lady just wants to go fast

But we really did take a step back with event offerings. They made a fantastic system with level 50 bloodwebs earlier this year, and it's now completely obsolete because you only get level 50 bloodwebs if you're p100. I'm also getting lots of webs where there's no event items, sometimes consecutively.

Thank you for the warnings. Has anyone submitted a bug report on this? Does anyone know if it is ALL bloodpoint offerings, or just the ones that apply to all survivors (Bloody Party Streamers, Cakes/Flans, etc.)?

Survivor Puddings seem to be working fine. Can't speak for anything else.

Edit: I created a bug report. If anyone has additional observations, go ahead and share them, because I only wasted two streamers before I stopped and additional data is always helpful.

Bloody Party Streamers not working — Dead By Daylight

  • I was just about to make a topic about this, but for different reasons. BPS don't seem to be giving double bloodpoints. In both cases I've used them, I've received only as many bloodpoints as I got from my score - in one case, I even got slightly less (score was 13.1k, had 12.9k bloodpoints afterwards.) They weren't refunded in either case.

Either way, they're bugged and I don't recommend using them.

  • Yeah, and survivor time efficiency is lower than ever on solo queue because people keep wandering around looking for rifts and pumpkins. Switched to killer pretty fast. I've been trying to play nice, though there's been a lot of early DCs and I usually just end up farming because of it.

  • @lauraa said:

I'll say Legion because that was the first one I ever saw, back when I didn't even know what a Dead By Daylight was. I thought by the name it was some ######### Day Z type game but the trailer looked neat.

    Poor David :(

It's always David or Meg. I wonder if they get hazard pay.

Legion's was really sick and I loved it, though it kinda gave the vibe their power was something drastically different than what it is.

  • Good, I thought I was going nuts. Seems like the initial node isn't unlocked, which it usually is.

  • The killer has already stamped out that boon spot twice, Mikaela. If you don't stop, I'm going to make you stop.

  • Best is subjective - like, I loved Crescendo because it had an absolutely incredible Plague outfit and telling the same story from two different perspectives was really cool. But between the bloodpoints, the way improved character charms, and the Wazzup mask, it's definitely up there. Licensed rifts are always hype.

I did mine at Coldwind, so I was definitely struggling as it does not seem to account for corn stalks. There’s a sound when you’re nearby, but I don’t recall a warning sound. Just the “exposed” sound and the whoosh as it disappeared.

I didn’t time it, but it feels like i was exposed for 30 seconds.

Oof, not accounting for corn is rough. I was wondering if it handled LOS like Ghostface/Myers did or if it was just drawing a line of empty space. Sounds like it must be the latter. This probably means it's way easier on maps like Eyrie or Garden of Joy where there's big wonky hitboxes everywhere (and awful on Coldwind and Shelter Woods, because hello empty space.)

I wonder if higher tome levels will make it more difficult? Guess we'll have to wait and see. But it's a pretty innovative glyph!

  • I mean, my main complaint with 6.1 was that everyone started mass DCing and killing themselves on hook...

  • How does it work? I ran at mine in a straight line and was able to collect it (it was in the lobby exit gate area in RPD, the one you really commonly spawn into.) So there's definitely a decent grace period.

Does it make a warning sound effect? How long do you get Exposed? Does it take corn/bushes into effect, or only solid objects?

It does sound like a really neat idea for a glyph, though.

  • I think the terror radius is great and suits her very well. But the chase music is the Ghostface Effect back at it again. Way too repetitive.

  • What are you talking about? The only thing that's changed from Wesker's release state is hitbox improvements and some debugging with his slam/throw collision.

Wesker has never hindered you while partially infected. And there are 12 sprays so that Wesker doesn't get permanently Hindered survivors by playing normally, and has to drop a lot of successful chases in order to get such a powerful debuff on the enemy team forever.

  • Yeah, I don't know why this was changed. It's not the worst thing in the world and I could get used to it, but I don't like it. It was a nice shot of serotonin seeing all my pretty shinies in the front.

  • If I had to guess, it's because there's just always been something really intensive on the roadmap. Anniversary, Project W, now they're working on the finishing mori system because as Telltale puts it, [Everybody disliked that.] With Christmas coming up, it might be a while yet before there's any time they can dedicate to her.

But yeah, Sadako desperately needs help for all of the reasons you listed. Seems like her overly cautious mori mechanic seriously gated how much power they were willing to give her. I still can't believe she has a lullaby. I thought Pig was a bad stealth killer because she had map props that told you who it was at the start of the game, but damn, her stealth looks good compared to Sadako's.

  • Oh no. It's endgame and the killer suddenly has an instadown. I wonder if I should check the map for a glowing pink aura, seeing as they can only rarely camp the totem and the hook at the same time, or if I should rage about it on the forums instead.

  • You already get a ton of bloodpoints for doing the challenges in the tome. I don't see a need for an additional reward.

No no, not the surveys. They were on Twitter and only consisted of like 3 questions.

I've been playing DBD for 5 years and have never heard about Community Choice. Could you give me a quick overview?

Essentially, you're given a poll where you vote on a couple of different categories - login bonuses, shrine of secrets, maps, exp bonuses - and the most voted options make up the event.

They're pretty great. We had one from 10/3 to 10/10.

  • @Mandy said:

The Community Choice maps has actually ended - it ended yesterday so we're back into regular map rotation now, into the lap of the entity basically with the map rotation, pure rng.

Could you possibly give feedback to the team about not doing that for future community choice? I might just be echoing my own opinion, but of all the threads I've seen here (on both choice events) and people I've talked to on Twitch, nobody was thrilled about repeating maps. Even if they're good maps, they get stale fast. Everything else about those events was fantastic, but the maps got real old real fast.

  • It's still far from my favorite Plague cosmetic, but this version looks nicer than the original. The patterning on the robes is quite nice and the censer isn't nearly as boring (though jury's still out on the Batman mask, imo.)

  • @bm33 said:

That's definitely an improvement for charms.

I wish the pic of GF with Nea was instead GF with Carl.

I would riot about this, but they actually gave us a Carl doll, so instead I will find whichever concept artist remembered to pay homage to Carl and give them a hug.

  • They're good at different things, imo (beyond the obvious core stealth killer gameplay.)

Wraith is better at speed (and thus map control) and preemptively cutting people off. He's much simpler to play and you can unga bunga him no problem. He's a pretty good user of gen kick perks and long distance aura reads and his addons are both versatile and useful, enabling a variety of builds. He counters holding W better than any other killer, but has basically zero tools to use in loops.

Ghostface is better at mindgaming in chase (because he can turn his red stain off at will) and actually sneaking up on people. He's much more map reliant than Wraith, especially with the new prevalence of daytime maps, and he takes more brains to play effectively because you need to plan your approach to minimize chance of being seen and you can't stab everyone in your way if you're effectively 99ing people and making use of partial stalks. He can cause insane snowballs with 99ing because survivors will believe they're safe to take hits and play bold when they're a tap away from an instadown. He's almost as bad at looping as Wraith is (again with the caveat that he can crouch and also hide his red stain freely), but while he can't do anything against holding W, his first hit against an unaware survivor is deadly while Wraith's is not, so his chases are often much shorter (or nonexistent.) He has some good addons, but none as game-changing as Wraith's.

I enjoy both of them, but they don't play as similarly as you'd think.

  • A scratched mirror Myers once jumpscared me so hard I accidentally alt-tabbed out of the game and opened a bunch of folders.

  • Hm. I was expecting clarification today and I'm irked it's not being provided, because there's a lot of ambiguity going around right now. I'd really like to know whether these are going to be cycling cosmetics like the event ones or if they're going away for good on the 3rd.

  • I always equated it with people getting frustrated at the game and building a vendetta against their opponents. There's a lot of extremely unfun things to go against that (probably) aren't done for the sake of being nasty, but rather efficiency and maximum success chance - but after a slew of awful games, that's not a distinction most people care much about anymore, and they assume the worst.

  • Hag's one of the oldest killers in the game... besides, they've never gone in order with updating characters with new music. I'm just happy progress is marching along.

  • I totally do. I also end up leaning left or right when I'm taking a tight corner or I want to see around an object.

  • Crappy matchmaking is a problem, but not one that has anything to do with game health or player recidivism? The game isn't picking bad matches because it doesn't have enough players spread around in various MMRs, it gives you bad matches because it prioritizes speed over accuracy and it completely falls apart when players leave their initial lobby (as their replacements are basically random.)

  • I don't notice any weird behavior from Distortion users. It's a stealthy perk, but one that has uses (primarily, telling you what aura perk the killer has so you know what to avoid later) and tends to function passively. Mostly I don't see it very much at all.

The ones I stereotype hardest are the Deliverance users. They love to rush unsafe farmy unhooks for the sake of their perk and are the most likely to ragequit if they get caught first.

Urban Evasion and Self Care are other perks I see people behaving badly with. And Left Behind, but at that point, that's just easy pickings.

  • Is it still displaying no progress? Outbreak Breakout is like Power Moves in that it's often slow to tick up progress and it might appear five-ten minutes after the fact.

I've done it with the second gate and gotten progress.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3223538#Comment_3223538

Rather those players get punished more, stick quitters with other quitters. I dont really wanna have to keep jumping in and out lobbies I'd rather those players be delt with directly

That's the dream, isn't it? Maybe all those 'I have a right to leave a game I don't like' defenders might get an inkling of why everyone hates them and doesn't want to play with them when their game is going fine and someone else dips at 5 gens (and if they don't, the killer DCs because the survivors are doing too well.)

On topic, I don't think I've ever seen someone argue that the game should be balanced for a 3v1. People complain about ragequitters because they want to play a balanced game and the ragequitters prevent that.

Yes, can confirm. You don't get progress if you weren't the one to open the gates.

    It's a horrible achievement.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/350005/remove-the-depip-from-the-ranking-system

I will actually disagree on the whole idea of getting rid of depips.

What i would agree with is getting rid of survivor depips for the remaining players in the case of a DC or if a player dies in the first 2 minutes to cover the case of a hook suicide.

What good do they serve, though? Ignoring that ranks no longer measure skill, depips don't make an awful lot of sense for survivors. Killers are the only player on their team, and if they do well or badly - survivor strength obviously matters, but it comes down on their decisions. It's not like that for survivors. Their decisions are a factor, but: barring the case where a survivor was genuinely being useless, pips reflect how long you survived in the match, and how much stuff you had an opportunity to do, more than anything else. And that's not that under your control.

On average, you're contributing 1/4 of the circumstances that lead to the team's success or collapse. Sure, there's exceptions where you loop the killer for ages and that carries, or you make a terrible play that starts the snowball, but it's quite common that the game falls apart with little direct input from you. You ever been in that situation where you're doing a gen and it looks like one person is being chased, they go down somewhere, and then two other people get injured and also go down right by them? Maybe the guy wiggles off and then goes down again ten seconds later? The game's fallen apart and it wasn't like you should have been doing anything else at the time. If your teammates throw with ill-conceived altruism plays, the game will end too early. If nobody else on your team can loop, you won't have enough time to heal between hooks and the game will fall apart. If your teammates are hiding, the killer will keep finding you and you'll die early. If your teammates don't know how to spam unhooks or are just idiot hook farmers, they'll get grabbed and turn isolated downs into snowballs. If it's a basement Bubba, you're dead as soon as you're caught and nobody has any ability to gain Altruism or Evader. If it's a Plague, Legion, or a Myers and some doofus keeps feeding them their power, they can steamroll you through no fault of your own. And if that Myers pulls T3 for the first time and picks you up by the throat, GG, that's a depip.

Hell, I depipped once in a game I escaped because I was the second person to be hooked, everyone else slammed gens instead of getting me and 3 gens got done while I dangled, and by the time I got unhooked (1st hook to 10 seconds until death), there just wasn't enough left to do in the match to safety pip, even after doing two random dull totems in endgame.

Getting rid of depips for teammate ragequits is a start, but it doesn't cover every case where your depip is not really your fault - which tends to be more often than not.

I really liked the implication of Yun-Jin knowing or at least having a suspicion of what Ji-Woon was doing, but didn't really care as long as he was making her money. Because it kind of fits with the cold business-like world of the idol/K-Pop industry, as long as the idol is producing a good following with "good" products then who cares what they (the idol) do in their free time?

Making it more of a cat-and-mouse type of game between the two was fine I suppose, but it kind of makes Yun-Jin more sympathetic when really she's not really supposed to be.

Funny; I interpreted the Yun-Jin characterization change backwards.

In her initial lore, judging from her reaction to her suspicions with Ji-Woon's tape, the idea of him being a serial killer did horrify her, but she really didn't want that to be true because it would destroy the career she fought tooth and nail for, so she ignored the possibility and didn't investigate it. She's not a good person and she's driven by self-interest, but it's somewhat understandable that she convinced herself that she must have been wrong.

In her tome, she would have to be a complete idiot not to suspect the Trickster. The tome describes evidence tying him to several different murders and constant sneaky behavior, as opposed to one tenuous connection that could easily have been imagined - and the stint he pulled with that small-time musician in Brazil made it so that it could have only been him or that other guy, so once the other guy is dead and the murders continue... yeah. Assuming any doubt was even left by that point, there's none then. So it gives the impression she knew or at least heavily suspected him for a significant portion of their working relationship and kept her mouth shut for the same reasons you just described.

I thought she became less sympathetic... and less explicable, because she should have known that Ji-Woon was going to blow up in her face sooner rather than later. If she wanted to keep making money off him, her best bet would have been to help him cover his tracks and become an accomplice - though it's also worth noting the Trickster's music was starting to fail. If she wanted to save her career, she would have parted ways and gone back into the talent hunting business so that when the Trickster inevitably got caught, he had some other manager to soften the PR fall. And if she was worried for her life, then she would have turned him in (and hopefully salvaged some of her image in the process.)

  • Basically, people are afraid BHVR is going to switch their shop model from one where everything they release is always available to one where they constantly release stuff that's only in shop for a few weeks before going away forever. It's a common tactic in webgames to raise sales by scaring people into buying things they otherwise would have been on the fence about for the sake of exclusivity/before they permanently lose the chance to.

It's been mentioned several times in recent surveys and this is the first time we're seeing it enter the game.

I don't know why but it just makes sense. They kept Steve and Nancy and their perks just called the perks something else. Why get rid of the map.

Because players paid for Steve and Nancy and Netflix can't axe paid content without either mass refunds or a legal battle, and the perks could be rebranded. The map wasn't something anyone purchased, so they could pull it from the game. Rebranding the map would take way more effort than BHVR was willing to do, since you'd need to create new assets for the whole thing as well as probably change the layout at least somewhat.

  • Please. I would wager that most depips as survivor are mostly out of your control and the result of your teammates throwing/quitting, your teammates just not being good at the game and the killer snowballing way too quickly for you to fill up objective categories as a result of that weakness, or the killer playing in a way that makes gaining emblems near-impossible for you (afk, tunneling, Bubba camping, speedrun Nurse, cheating, etc.)

There's no reasons for depips to exist anymore now that grade only measures playtime.

  • I hate RPD as much as the next person, but somebody decided to make an achievement that requires I personally open the exit gates and escape 20 times there, and I want my 100% back.
