@Mat_Sella See you joke about this but I used to have a laptop that would just die if it overheated in summer (it was terrible I know but I was at uni so too poor to afford a good one at the time) so I used to put a freezer block (ice brick) under it to keep it cool and it actually worked...😂

your ps4 as soon as you download DBD "I think I have cancer"
Amazing, funny thing is I have the disc, it's even worse. 😂
@TreemanXD It was crazy loud, (funny you had family confirm it though 😂) if I had a friend playing/in party they could hear it through the mic...

@tt_ivi_99 it only happens with dbd, once I come back I’ll try the vertical trick.
Yes can 100% support this, I can play any other game all day in absolute scorching summer temperatures and it's fine, I just put dbd in and boot it up for 1s, even if it's the middle of winter that thing is going to wheeze like crazy.
-
Breaks from this game are necessary sometimes and healthy, I took about a month long break after the plague release and honestly it helped a lot with returning to the game with a fresh attitude.👍️
I haven't had my ps4 wheezing much since the last update though, it used to be so loud you could almost hear it from the next room, seems to be a little better now, still get those random game breaks that require full reboot though... Shame I can't try the vertical trick above, I have a TV display cabinet that only allows short height (i.e. wii fits but is never used)

Ah, so I'm not mistaken when your username reminds me of TF2 songs, it literally reminds me of my teen years scrolling the dark side of YT and my friend group sending SFM videos to each other at 2am. 😂

Freddy is in a terrible state, but Freddy mains have put so much time into the killer that they no longer see his flaws and shortcoming for what they are. He's functioning in ways that go against what would be proper game design for every other killer. He's got a very strong gimmick that can cripple game progress for survivors, but he actually can't play the game without his power. That is something he shares with the nurse except in her case while she'll never be viable without her power; Nurse will still be able to at great expense still hit and potentially down you without her power. Freddy can not do the basic gameplay at all. He can't pull off gens, pull off hooks, do basic attacks or body blocks without having someone asleep beforehand. Putting people to sleep isn't instant so there is a period of time where freddy can't even be considered in a chase.
He can't interact with the game, but can be stunned and blinded by survivors who are awake. That's a huge downside freddy mains are playing through which is respectable as hell. Yet, he has no reason to function like that. That is poor killer design. A killer should be able to take all the universal actions freely. I understand putting time into something and thinking it is great when by the design of the game it isn't. I know it feels bad to have it change when you've gotten strong despite the adversity, I also know when something needs to change for the greater good too. Freddy gotta get fixed.
That moment when you played Freddy so much you just accepted these things as “just how it is” not realising how bad it is until someone throws it in your face. Wow. Still don’t think it’s of merit to me personally though, being invisible and all. He does have some positives and can actually grab out of lockers without power.
I just have always known him this way, I think I started playing just after the infamous Freddy nerf. But doc is right, it requires putting faith in the rework and that’s a little thin right now given recent events for certain killers. I’m not even going to say can’t get worse because I don’t want to challenge them...
-
@FireHazard I'm not saying this particular thread is bad, I already said this in response many comments ago because I realised you did not know about last weeks post. I meant it as a joke, people took it seriously, here we are.
I also said in my immediately previous post this may actually be the right course of action to get attention.
I think I should just leave this thread now, lest I be further misunderstood, I hope the devs give you a reply though.

I can only just wonder I guess.
Which is basically what people have been doing since before the movie was released. We just need patience, but I guess reigniting it repeatedly might actually get their attention enough to make a comment, however vague it may be, because it will seem like a widely accepted view. It's hard to know what will actually work to get at least a response. (even the fact this thread has actual discussion on it might draw attention)
Just remember we barely heard anything before the pig cosmetics though...and probably wouldn't have at all if it weren't for leaks but at least from it we know it's possible, I would honestly be surprised if they haven't discussed it.
-
@FireHazard I don't know if it's same mindset (I just used MoM as an example of a repost after repost and everyone repeating the same things), people probably just feel like the idea is getting ignored, it goes away for a while then someone remembers it and another thread goes up. I was just pointing out we had this conversation just last week...apparently that is also not allowed (as well as joking about it)...
I voted this up for the sake of the rest of you, I personally do not mind one way or the other, I'm just saying the devs probably have their reasons for keeping quiet. We've waited this long, surely they've heard the requests before.

Yeah because this forum is infamous for originality. Never discuss the same topic more than once.
Even the posts on them are basically the same though... I'm just getting tired of it, it's the same as the MoM threads, we get it, devs aren't responding for a reason on this, we got barely a hint prior to the pig ones as well, I put my thoughts above. Plus the last one was literally last week and you posted near the same comment...
-
In response to title: *whispers* same bro, I've just been avoiding these arguments over if legion is good now or not. (I'd still play pig though, it's not as disorienting for me as the legion change)
I can't handle even watching a legion vault in a streamer video let alone doing it. Until there's some kind of change my legion boi has been retired. I'm still 100% optimistic for ghost though, I won't even be disappointed if he's not 100% killing machine (let's be fair he looks he won't be from the leaks alone but this could change).
I just want a fun to use power, legion gave me that and it was destroyed for no particular reason given the other nerfs that came along with the speed/cooldown changes, I only liked the killer for the speedy gameplay anyway, felt amazing chaining 4 frenzy strikes on 4 survivors in a minute. Might as well learn billy at this point.

Well we Myers mains gotta stick together.
Also, its a bit of a minority since most people either like Myers or just have a unspoken thing with him. These posts probably get not many comments cause nobody goes in-depth with it really.
Everyone seems to have a thing for Myers but no-one likes maining him. I see how it is...😉
I think it's also because every time it comes up people agree, devs don't comment, cycle continues, it'd be nice if we did actually get a definitive answer but the reality is maybe even they don't know yet.
-
@FireHazard They don't get many comments often, though they do get upvotes. It's literally why I'm not sure how many Mikey mains there are on the forums 😂 because it often seems like there's 5 of us that talk about it/other things and then it's just silence...

Seems like it given how long we've had this thread going... They gotta go fast, off topic isn't in the mainstream/for the speedy browsers/posters.😂
-
@FireHazard No it's okay, I was joking out of the monotony, there have been multiple posts even quite recently asking for 2018 movie cosmetics, yours is the most in depth and well done though so props for the detail. 💖 Will also be good to finally get the Devs comments after how long this has been going on.
Just adding some links as examples below plus just type "myers cosmetics" into the forum search (It reignited after the pig leaks) some of these are old but people have been requesting the same thing since the 2018 movie released basically.
I know there gonna discuss playtime for dlc content unlock, with all the licensers. But i hope they work out a deal for licensed cosmetics.I would really like to see a H18 Myers Head cosmetic, the weathering on the mask in the new film makes it so much more creepier. This one from just last week too:
MM was such an interesting DLC back then, it completely shifted the gameplay, u had to be alert all time as survivor, he was well designed etc. -
We're talking about this one again, are we?🤔 It's almost as if I'm getting some weird
-
This thread is actually now just making me feel a little bad for billys... kinda just waiting for the billy mains to find this thread *angry chainsaws rev in the distance*
-
@ShrekIsHot Looking back on what you said... it did not accurately convey your actual meaning. Sorry for the misunderstanding it sounded a bit like that, that those who do not accept the Mikey main identity proudly but instead hide are the smart ones.😂 (plus I read it at like 5am immediately after waking up, re-reading it now I get it wow, lesson learned, one is not generally conscious enough to comprehensively read immediately after waking)
I'm pretty sure Freddy is more adept at just watching his prey, most time is spent just waiting. He is true patience. As a Mikey main I may calculate, sneak and plan, but my patience is nowhere near a no dream transition time decrease (or increased time duration) freddy mains (I'm actually pretty likely to start the stabbing party asap with discordance and that sweet sweet J myers memorial, the temptation of ew3 is just too great sometimes after too long watching and waiting). The anticipation of the survivors entrance to the dream world as a Freddy is a whole other level of patience.

This is what it's like for me as killer a lot of the time when I'm in green ranks, I've even had some red ranks in there before (often balanced with a 13 or something, right... because that evens it out nicely). I guess 9 is close enough for them to say welcome to pain. I think you just get used to it though, I've killed some rank 2 survivors though and it's like the ranking end screen is a surprise more than anything sometimes. It's pretty common I guess, even with survivors I've been rank 5-8 and got a rank 2 killer.
-
@Kamikaze_Rose said:
Yeah, I never understood why devs changed the perk to show survivors when it's active. It was more fun when we got surprised by it, not to mention more powerful.
Yeah I agree with this, it really throws you when you're not careful it's actually a really nice change to see as a survivor as it's so rarely run, it's pretty powerful when it works or gets to 5 tokens and would be more interesting if there were a way to make it unknown until there's at least one token/hooking (as at least it's active then)
-
I just remembered a survivor one too, there was a min that was literally running everywhere when the killer was a hag and triggering all her traps. Not much to say she died first, I was using urban evasion at the time because it was a staple when I was moderately new and they messaged me basically saying "Is your entire controller just R2/Crouch kek" Even if it was about running closer to the hook then using urban for the last few seconds, isn't that the right thing to do against a hag??? She's the one that literally ran the second she was free and triggered everything...
-
I was thinking about something similar yesterday, it's a killer one because even though I've played survivor longer and got like 3 salty messages from teammates the killer ones tend to stick with me more. Anyway, it was back when I was a new killer (on one of the coldwind farm maps), even more so new to Mikey (I ran dying light as my best perks if that's any indication of how terrible/fresh I was)
I downed 2 survivors in quick succession as I caught them going for an unsafe unhook in front of me while I was chasing one of them after the last gen was done. The 3rd survivor got the person off the hook and the king had tenacity so he speed crawled out the open gate while I was hooking the other downed survivor, the rest ditched and she died.
That one that died then messaged me and, with the utmost salt, asked why I killed them when they had done a majority of the gens, unhooked people and opened the gate (basically how dare I kill them?). I asked them how I was meant to know they did all that and suggested maybe they should enquire with their "team" why they died. They didn't reply after that...

@FireHazard All good, it's actually surprisingly difficult to find info on here about them despite the numerous threads discussing them (often not in a good way, for good reason). I just remembered the call for expressions of interest (linked above) when it went live and know who most of the streamers are now.
-
@FireHazard Fog whisperers are generally streamers chosen by BHVR to promote DBD and they often get privileges such as meeting with devs to discuss updates, game codes etc. (correct me if I'm wrong)
It is generally believed that those who play (or may want to play/are new to) DbD watch one of these streamers (at least) and hence they should be held partly responsible for promoting a healthy environment (not promoting toxicity hahaha right...) in the game (which is near impossible when biased)
Here's a link explaining it a little: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19925/fog-whisperers-pilot

I have a lot of headcanons , but I'll just put four of them because I have zero patience to write every.
One of them is Susie sharing her mixtape with Rin, while shes trying to understand the language of the lyrics.
There's one of Herman annoying the hell out of Evan, because you know, Doc is a prick.
Then there's Anna giving Amanda a bear hug, while she appreciates it, shes desperately trying to get out of Anna's arms because shes not the weakest of individuals.
And finally, there's Philip teaching Max how to talk, because I see Max only as a child who only knew violence and pain throughout his life, and Philip, Evan, Sally, Lisa and Anna are trying to help him to understand what love is.
@Unnamed_Freak Hmm this one was very difficult, these are all very interesting but I tend to go for the one I can clearly picture best so I have a basis for poses when I start the sketch. I really like the idea of the last one but I'm having trouble picturing how to convey language. Picturing Doc repeatedly zapping trapper at the worst moments is amazing but feels more like basis of a comic... The first one is really easy to picture the poses and the 3rd one is also easy to picture (would make this thread the "Anna hugs everyone" thread after the above 😂) The first one is hitting me most currently given I can clearly picture it.
I need some more time to think on it. I'll add it in after Phantom's pig and trapper one above and let you know when I've decided.

@No_Mither_No_Problem You edgy kids and your disrespectin' of proper grammar. You're a legion main still? You're a No Mither main to me.

@lasombra1979 said:
Only point I will make is, if you wanted him to stop tunnelling you, perhaps you should have broke LOS on of the oh, half dozen times you actually escaped him instead of trying to lure him back into the chase. The killer got sucked into the tunnel and she/he should have known better and broke it off, but you are not innocent in this either. To me, it looked like you were wanting to play the bait and honestly, you did a hell of a job of it. Just do not complain about tunnelling when you kept luring the killer back into the chase.
Also accurate, good point here +1 , the player tries to prolong the chase (as above not breaking LOS on an easy map to do so) and then complains about getting chased. Logic.🤔
-
@No_Mither_No_Problem I don't really know, isn't that up to you? Also is it not a question if there is not a question mark?

@daddyo said:
This is what I do when I play killer.
Out of position survivor, they're not near any major loops or pallets, or ran past them: continue chase until downed or end if they manage to get to a loop.
Pallet heavy area, survivor drops pallets without looping: continue chase
Pallet heavy area, survivor loops decently before dropping: eat one or two, see if they're running to another loop or if they're caught out of position. If the former, end chase, if the latter, continue chase.
Looping proficient survivor in general: abandon chase after 10-15 seconds
Spot another survivor on a gen: end chase
Survivor who's used exhaustion perks and are vulnerable: continue chase
This is basically how I treat it too, plus an internal timer of how long I've spent chasing, if I feel like it's longer than 1 minute I'll consider dropping it to return to protecting gens (plus I don't play a strong chase killer - Mikey, so I'll try to throw down EW3 when I can and it's personally better for me to suddenly drop a chase to scare gen jockeys than to continue chasing the obsession/strong looper). Also if I get spammed notifications from discordance that a problematic gen is getting abused.

@Tsulan said:
It could auto wiggle. No A/D spamming.
On top of that, get every 3-5 seconds (lvl 3-1) a DS like skill check, that (if successful) pushes the killer hard into a random direction. Like 3-4 meters.
I actually love this idea, I loved this perk at release and would like to see it useful again (still laugh remembering a hillbilly that would walk into a wall next to the shack door, stop, right himself to exit then get pushed to the other side of the door and hit the wall again 😂 but killers have adapted to it now and it barely works in open spaces/only works in tight walled or object heavy areas)
This buff still wouldn't be OP and would make it more interesting to use especially as a counter to iron grasp (and auto struggle yes please, still waiting on that hold to struggle on the hook change). I wouldn't mind it as killer or survivor.
-
@No_Mither_No_Problem I'm guessing you liked it? Thanks again for contributing to the thread and for liking the picture 💖 I'm loving all the ideas people are bringing in here, it's really helping me step out of my art comfort zone. Hope the picture did justice for what you picture/your headcanon. 😘
-
That one line...why it was all going well reading this until I hit that line...😂
Hmm, it doesn't make sense to strive for it lore wise (which is gameplay based), but it's rewarding merit in avoiding the killer in chase and destroying totems etc (as you do get points for escaping the chase etc). I think it does fit, but maybe not under the name of boldness. (boldness more so suits the striving for it due to game mechanics)
Maybe bravery? Merit? Who knows, there's definitely a chance that even in Lore perspective a survivor would be found/chased at some point and it is desirable for a survivor to escape the chase and destroy the killers tools/traps i.e. totems/sabotaging (unlike tripping and dying in actual horror movies...) is this a stealth should be better included/more rewarded in evader hinting thread?
-
I used to use overcharge a lot, so this is a little sad if true, does it still stack okay with unnerving presence? (Or does this just make it the size it used to be?) How much bigger is it because I remember the old one quite vividly.

Monitor & Abuse + Dead Rabbit + J Myers Memorial Page = The Shape given form.
By that I mean he actually is like a stalker from the movies with 0 terror radius at Tier l and like 7 at Tier ll, only then does his Terror Radius Spike to quadruple that in Tier lll given you the impression that its literally like a movie chase.
The rest of the perks are up to you, but Ruin is a must to charge Tier l up at the start, so the other two are up to you.
This build also can make you basically undetectable when hiding behind walls near a Gen in Tier l, I've gotten so many Gen grabs because of that.
This is literally my every match build (addons)... it’s funny though, approach at a distance in absolutely clear view (not even trying to sneak) and you’ll either A) get a grab because they weren’t looking your way or B) laugh as literally every survivor you do this to for some reason blows the gen up in their face (was a personal experiment)
-
Be really, really stabby. Tier 3 out of sneaking up and then downing multiples (at most 2 to keep things going) if possible, or as above with infectious fright/distressing or tier 3/tombstone or a surprise tombstone piece in front of everyone when they think you suck and taunt you. I know everyone tends to ignore it for some reason but vanity mirror+dead rabbit+M&A is also beautiful, I once saw last survivor hiding in the basement, watched him walk up, hid around the corner closest to the door he exited and as soon as I saw him leave I lunged around the corner, apparently I scared him... a lot. Wasn’t even going for a scare at the time.
-
@ShyN3ko Just posting this here now before I forget, was meant to be a cute pig giving you some flowers but I couldn’t decide on a background they were all so boring so I thought about the jigsaw static and so it turned into this... makes it seem like there’s a trap in those flowers now haha, can’t wait to see your picture next :)
-
@No_Mither_No_Problem Sorry this took so long I started to get details focused and forgot it’s meant to be sketches. Drawing spirit was definitely fun and I probably need more practice with huntress... she gave me issues (also please don’t hate me too much for the overlay for her veil, I just got to a point where I realised drawing the individual fishnet detail etc. would take a lot longer, I’m so sorry. I hope it’s alright, might continue this as a personal project in future/repaint and actually take the full time to do all details)
In any case definitely a cute idea and very sad, Rin is precious and I can definitely see Anna always being there to comfort her now. Thanks for sharing. :) I should probably go sleep now,
getting up early tomorrow, RIP@ClogWench Also tagging you as above.

Reminds me of a match I had a while back. 2 survivors interfered with my chase from the killer and I went down. They then worked to heal me with the killer standing an inch away. As soon as I stood up he would knock me right back down and they would heal again. This was back before you could end the healing by moving away. After about 10 cycles of this, I had to perform my one and only disconnect ever from a match. They had easily earned all their altruism points and were only doing it to hold my game hostage.
@yobuddd I had one like this too... I've also had one more recently where a survivor body blocked everyone (and they put up a game map offering) so the killer could get the evil incarnate trophy (was back before I knew the locker trick) she was also getting knocked down to reveal where everyone else was. It was so tempting to DC but I didn't, can't believe that person got that trophy that way, hope it just reminds them of how scummy they had to play to get it.

I really like the clementine one, the perks are very true to her character and could be pretty interesting (thinking at base here not combos/balance etc). The other ideas are also well thought out and very detailed. Great work 💖

You know the killer was running BBQ&C, right?
You know that everyone swarmed the hook and stayed inside that range, right, inviting the killer to camp?
The killer should not have abandoned the hook at all, having been run for 2 gens and seeing no auras - Doubly so, since they almost immediately saw action near the hook (They should have saved T3 for actual unhook attempts).
Congrats, you played poorly and still escaped - Welcome to the EZ Mode Meta
Bonus points for rubbing your cursor all over that bad boy's name, you "victim," you :D
If I could only upvote this post 100000 times... it's 100% accurate. This video literally just supports what everyone has been saying about MoM regarding why it's terribly unbalanced.
Very few moments in that were actually skill, sure some nice games at points and the killer wasn't great at all at mindgames but seriously remove all the DS/MoM/adrenaline/DH and they would have been destroyed, maybe the killer wouldn't have camped as stated above if they didn't swarm the hook. This was actually annoying to watch and I play survivor 70% of the time and hate tunneling and camping as much as anyone (the crutch is overwhelming and the T-bags really, are they that proud??).
Do you realise how much that must have sucked for that killer to play against on a terribly survivor sided map to start with? I'm sure you who plays killer (if the OP is to be believed) would love to go up against this build all day. (Plus his MoM went off when he messed up the loop, hard to believe the killer deserved that down, right?)
Gotta give it to the killer at this point he's dedicated to that tunnel, most would have changed targets however, doesn't make the case any better.
-
I'd say learn with Min first, she has alert and technician, which show you where the killer is often and technician is less punishing on skill checks then work for bond, urban and self care.
I was a smart personally, I started with Jake... 😂 To be fair when I was asked who to level first by a friend who was new to dbd I did suggest Claudette (or Nea for urban) because her perks are generally okay for beginners and she doesn't stand out much.
