  • Meg is really just Quentin in drag. Good luck unseeing that now.

  • I did this using Empathy, Botany Knowledge, Ace in the Hole, and Plunderer's Instinct. I ran out of medkits trying it, so had to find them on the map after quite a few tries (and failures). Could probably swap out Plunderer's Instinct for Pharmacy, since it took about 10 chest searches across multiple games before I came across a Medkit... at least Pharmacy will guarantee you an Emergency Medkit right off the bat.

Hard to do anything with folks playing so scummy with teammate DCs/Suicides and facecamping. I wish you luck!

  • That's dangerous talk, friend. Two or three more folks say something like this and Oni takes the Legion train to Nerfsville.

He's really not that hard to go up against.

  • Agreed. He hulks out far too often in the menu and cosmetics screens. I've gotten to the point of clicking mute on my headphones when going through his bloodweb or looking at cosmetics. Also, when viewing cosmetics, keep his sword out... the club doesn't change with any cosmetics, so why even show it, especially that often? It's like when you're looking at axes on Huntress and she whips out her throwing axe.

  • Exor, thanks so much for the pics! Can't find it anywhere and I've searched and searched to no avail. Greatly appreciate it. Guess I'll go ahead and click that button and begin prestiging!

  • Has anybody confirmed the exact length of max time it has to be charged for maximum distance (and even what that max distance is)?

  • Will the Oni's prestige P3 be updated from the PTB version (which was basically the exact same as base outfit with the exception of the ultra bloody sword)?

  • Still wondering... I have him sitting idle at 50 and nearing another million, wondering whether to prestige or not. Anybody have any release pics of the P3 yet... does it look any better than PTB prestige? Or are there any plans to update the missing blood on the cosmetic if it's currently the same? @Peanits perhaps?

  • First impressions after several matches using him: He feels absolutely clunky as all hell to me, honestly. It was rather jarring. Some pretty heavy lag when coming out of Blood Fury. The pause "stun" after ending a dash feels like it takes forever to regain control. Aiming his Bam-Bam club smash feels damn near impossible and it's wilder than a buck to control, like hitting a gnat with a piece of thread. He's so loud that, if you do plan on slugging, bring Deerstalker because there's no way in hell you're going to hear anything: thunder foot steps, growling, howling, I'm pretty sure I heard him fart while looking for last slugged survivor last game. Tracking using the blood orbs is so-so and easy to misread. So far, it feels like sticking with M1 and just using the questionable blood orb tracking is better than using Blood Fury and losing the orbs while relying on catching up to semi-decent survivors with dash and being able to actually make contact with the Demon Strike. As has become the standard, quite easy to loop. I feel like a chunky Legion, opting to use the dash to cover distance then M1'ing instead of whiffing on 360'ing survivors with Demon Strike.

TL;DR: He's big, loud, awkward, and takes up more of the FOV screen than he needs to the majority of the time. He feels like maneuvering an 18-wheeler truck, emits sounds at about the same decibel level of one. But he looks cool, I guess. I dunno. The word "clunky" sticks with me when thinking about playing as him, and it's not really a good feeling.

Not queen commented on my post and said it was not happening today. Thank God since there are currently several glitches that warrant a DC

Appreciate the info. So I'm assuming the kicking gen, getting stuck bug is still hanging around. Well, back to survivor for a bit until they fix the killer side now. *sigh*

  • Please give Quentin a mask cosmetic, devs. My heart can't take opening another locker and finding a Quentin in there.

  • Haven't seen it yet.

And I don't mean I haven't played it yet, I mean literally nobody has seen it yet because it's pitch black and a maze of solid rock and neck-high weeds. Somebody needs to hit that sumbish with a weedeater, a dozer, and some moonlight. Piss poor. Meg in full toxic blaze pink cosmetic can hide in there.

    As survivor: LOL 2 EZ

As killer: "Am I still stuck in loading... but why is Whispers going off? Is this a bug?"

  • The odds of getting a basement hook right now are actually the highest I've ever witnessed them. You've got multiple challenges in Tome 1 demanding not one, but multiple basement hooks. I've faced this glitch no less than a dozen times over the past few days, each time from a person running an obvious basement build, many times bypassing one and even two outside hooks to drop me in the basement.

Now, was every one of them doing it maliciously? I don't think so; not at all. Are some? Sure, there always are when a game-breaker bug like this pops up. It's just the perfect storm of Tome challenges requiring the use of the very thing that is bugged. Pretty good job so far 👌

And the D/C system change incoming today is going to make this an absolute cluster-kcuf disaster unless this bug is hot-fixed before it drops or at least postponed until they can fix it, because with several instances I couldn't even die on hook or by EGC so a D/C is the ONLY exit.

  • Huntress make snu snu until you die from it. Death by snu snu.

  • Indeed. No way to tell if they're doing a challenge or just running a basement build, fully oblivious, or maliciously abusing it. You know some are -- most certainly -- just can't tell who.

  • I just hope they have it sorted out and hot fix patched by tomorrow... or they're going to have to hold off on the D/C penalty system.

  • Completely lost me when saying losing Sloppy Butcher and STBFL synergies weren't big deals.

  • I had this happen tonight and it kept me in limbo like that even after somebody came and unhooked me. Had to DC... no other choice. It truly is a horrifically bad bug that needs a hot fix to-friggin-day. Like, now.

What makes it even worse is the timing; where there are a lot of killers currently at or near the point in the Tome challenges where they're having to hook two people in the basement at the same time, it makes it damn near impossible to know if somebody is just running a basement build to accomplish that challenge or to actually bug folks out and troll.

Just a generally bad bug that needs addressed ASAP.

  • I just went down to an uncloak hit that I'd fast vaulted through a window, ended up being downed several feet in the other side. I'm not feeling it lol

  • You mean the one you get when you purchase from, say, Steam instead of buying them with shards?

It's not worth it. It's a recolor of her base skin. Only things different are her top/waist wrap is lighter (white or light pink, can't remember now that I've logged off) than her base bright pink and the emblem on her back is gold instead of pink. That's it.

  • Nerf after nerf, we tried and tried to relearn you. Moonwalking and blood tracking, stacking Save the Best for Last... so many times we fought to find you. You were resilient, and you fought hard, but you had to let go. You were never meant to be for this world.

Because the "wahhhmbulance" was called, time and again.

Go softly into that goodnight, and take all the money we spent on your DLC and double-sex mega cosmetics with you.

    RIP Legion

  • Wonder if there's a Dev Tome?

Oof: Effectively neuter a killer 3x.

    Nailed it.

  • *laughs/gurgles in Trapper P3*

Still, I have to wonder... is it not feasible that they're making P3 skins intentionally less appealing with each new release, due to:

    A.) our continued moans (rightfully so) about how awful the BP grind is to acquire them;

B.) If P3 cosmetics are less appealing, we'll be more likely to purchase skins from the store.

I mean, it makes good business sense, but splash some blood on them. Not a conspiracy theory, just basic acknowledgement at this point. Even a recolor base-level cosmetic tops most recent killer releases' P3s, and definitely poor Oni. I'd just like to know now before I invest all that time and effort into them for absolutely nada pay-off. Because the PTB Oni P3, I literally could not tell the difference between it and the base.

  • Nearly all of the original killers, Freddy, and Legion all swimming in a lake of blood.

    Legion: "Come on in!"

Oni: "No... no thanks. I have sensitive skin."

  • Completely luck-based and random with a multitude of dependencies and a perfect storm situation. AKA: Exactly what's wrong with some of the challenges.

  • I see somebody has already posted about this earlier. Please feel free to delete this, devaroonies.

  • Make "... complete in a single trial" an extreme rarity and much, much less RNG luck-based ones. That's it. That would MTGA (Make Tomes Great Again).

  • Several dozen games in trying the flashlight one in Tome 2 and finally gave up because I got to where I loathed the idea of logging in. Passed on it and went on to Tome 3.

Surprise! Like being on a sinking ship, so you hop off... into a swamp swarming with hungry alligators and those little fish that swim up your pee-pee. Oh, joy.

  • More "...do [action] XX times" and much, much less luck-based "do [action] X times in a single trial." That is all. And maybe spice it up a bit and make it more focused on the survivor/killer at the moment. You think Claudette is big on unhooking other folks when she doesn't even want to be around other folks? Nah. Think Trapper gets a killer chub during EGC? Nah. Though I think they did focus better on Trapper than Claudette this time. Way too much blinding and unhooking when her sole life is botanicals and healing.

  • I truly feel conned into buying Premium Pass after the "1 hr per day to fully complete Rift" stuff we got. We all know those numbers don't add up, even if you're able to complete all the Tome challenges. Shady AF, frankly. Burn me once, shame on you; burn me twice... won't be happening again, for sure.

I really don't mind a grind, but this is boorish and unnecessary. Between the impossibility of someone who doesn't sit on this game 5-6+ hrs per day and the shady estimate to completion, I reckon I've about had my fill of it.

  • 5 traps and 2 survivors in EGC is bad mojo. All of the "in a single trial" ones are just based purely on luck, plain and simple. You either luck into playing against consistently careless idiots on a wide scale or you don't; simple as that.

Survivor ones this go around, though... man. You have to have at least a 2-3 man SWF to dream of pulling some of them off.

And the devs' silence is absolutely deafening across the many threads relating these same feelings. I'll remember all this (and the bogus estimates of "1 hr per day to complete full Rift" BS) come time for the next set of Tomes/Rift. No way in hell I'll dish real money out on this again. They're crazier than a crap-house rat.

  • @ggallinftw said:

To put it as simply as possible... Doin the rift challenges makes me not want to complete the rift. Other people doin the rift challenges makes me not want to play the game.

I feel this on a spiritual level. And not a nerfed Spirit-ual level, like... this just sums it up.

  • The actual "grind" ones don't bother me... it's the pure luck-based "complete in a single trial" ones that are absolutely unfathomable.

  • *laughs in Deliverance*

  • Oh, they took it... then laughed at it and doubled-down.

  • Yep... every single game has been everything we thought it would be. Everybody leaving their gen to bumrush unhooks or just lurking near the middle of the map, hiding, waiting. After a few, I just decided that if I can't beat 'em, join 'em.

    Here ya' go, fam:

Empathy: To make sure you know when somebody's going down so you can leave your gen and get in position, following for the feeding frenzy.

Bond: To know where the rest of those healthy feral hogs are while they're surrounding the fresh meat in the chase.

Borrowed Time: Gotta' be safe unhook, y'know.

Deliverence: Because screw those guys. If the devs want us to play toxic to each other, let's do it. Yeeting myself off the first hook, and if I go down, no struggling. Onto the next round of BS hook farming.

What a time to be alive in DBD! Bloody hell.

  • Well, we've reached the level of semi-impossible challenges. Time to drop focus and stop caring about the lore. Bloody hell... this "in a single trial" crap is insane on some of these, especially since the majority are pure luck-based.

    Man... wow.

  • Definitely Wraith. Only one that was pretty much conned into killing without his knowledge, then only knowingly killed for vengeance. Hillbilly's mind has probably been warped after his treatment and Trapper... pretty tragic, but seems he was mind-fudged with daddy issues.

  • Get looped around by my Boston Terrier whenever I'm trying to catch her for a bath.

First, she goes straight for the kitchen table (home version of a jungle gym). When she messes up there, she goes straight for the kitchen island (I consider it the killer shack, given the breakfast nook attached to it is the side window). If I mindgame her there, it's usually off to hide behind wherever my wife or daughter are so they can distract me and keep me from tunneling... but if she mindgames me there, I'll usually find her in the little cubby under the island with a door she'll open with her nose or paw and hide in (the locker).

I swear, I think she's learning it while watching me play. And she's bad to BM; ol' girl needs banned, devs.

  • Legion with double extended Mend add-ons. Wait, never mind.

I mean Legion using Save the Best for Last!

Never mind... guess I'm cured soon. >.>

  • If they'd stop trying to boost killers by only reworking a few of their add-ons and calling that a "buff" instead of buffing them on their base kit, we'd be good across the board. They need to stop pretending that a heavily add-on dependent killer = a good killer, because it's not. If I need to use one or two particular add-ons to be able to hold my own against a decent group, I'm not likely to play that killer at all, because they're not innately viable. Simple as that. Buff base kits or keep having to go through this over-and-over cycle of "nerf, wait on new top-tier, nerf, wait on new top-tier, nerf, etc."

  • It's been like this for as long as I can remember. Not a single thing has changed.

Don't necessarily see the problem with complaining about changes when folks bring up legitimate reasons behind it. Sometimes it does indeed feel as though the community is brushed aside by the devs. Yes, there is a lot of good going on and big improvements have been made over time... but if folks don't complain when they know something is bad, how will they ever know to fix it? Sure, some are a bit overly dramatic about it, but folks are passionate about the game.

If it wasn't for over a year's worth of solid, extreme complaining, we would still be playing F-tier Freddy. If it wasn't for lots of complaining, we'd still be at the mercy of the killer's connection into the foreseeable future.

And the "Us vs. Them" mentality, well, that's the nature of the game. The game is literally "Us vs. Them." Some of us play both sides equally, some have a preferred side; neither is wrong. That leaks over into the forums from the game when one side sees a change as a win for their side while being a detriment to the other. Never going to change, because that's the nature of the game's base mechanics. You silence one side and the game becomes heavily favored to the other side, that other side will eventually just stop playing, and we'll be left with queues longer than a Taco Bell bathroom break.

  • @Venoxxie said:

A leg. Or an arm. Killers beat us up enough with these sharp weapons, maybe one gets bored and chops off someone's arm or leg and beats us with that.

    "I'm a' beat a MF'er with another MF'er!"

I like the way you think.

  • The major PIA of these things is the "Complete in a single trial" aspect. Most of them require a leprechaun up your arse to pull off in a single trial.

  • Not upset if it's another Japanese killer, as I enjoy having a varied ethnic palette in the game. I'll just be worried it won't be as "original" as we've come to expect and that it may show signs of a weakening creative team.

Claudette or the Trapper didn't need an additional character to further their story, as evidenced by this Tome. Spirit has a rich and full story and I don't see a need for another character directly tied to her.

I think we can all get on board that it's either an Oni brought forth via her death or her father, likely as a Samurai. Neither of which interest me personally whatsoever. Oni will be naturally represented, most likely, as either a demon, ogre, or combination of the two. I can't help but feel the Demon as a killer has such a wide and various background of archetypes to draw from that it didn't need to be one tied to an already used cultural focus. And if it's more along the Ogre line, I'd be more pleased with its northern European type, for the same reasoning as I gave for the Demon: Originality (or rather the lack thereof). Samurai could be pretty cool, but again, it's just yet another character archetype from Rin's already established bloodline story and another basic cultural icon.

Yes, there are plenty of American killers, but they tend to be varied enough that they didn't necessitate tying them to each other in order to fully flesh them out. Neither of these options will have that originality.

But, as always, all of this is just assumption until we know more. Mechanics will be the major factor in evaluating the killer's worth, really; I just won't be thrilled if we're correct in our guessing and likely won't leap at obtaining it without some crazy perks and/or fun and efficient gameplay mechanics. I'm hoping they fool us and give us something fresh and original and not just a leech character hanging off Rin's butt (which I'd totally volunteer for tribute). Time will tell.

  • If nobody's posted them by the time I get out of this match, I'll get them up.

  • Seeing a few that are only going to happen via an offhand miracle. Really gets me to wondering about Tomes 3 & 4 now... geez. At least I'll be lowering my expectations early and not worrying about completing it 100% now.

  • Totally meant Rank 18. Fixed it! Rank 18 Level 50 P3 Spirit w/Prayer Beads.
