Need challenges like:
- Be camped through 2 complete hook struggle phases
- Be unhooked unsafely twice (Complete this challenge in a single trial)
- Be blinded while picking up a survivor 12x by a squad of 4 deranked SWF Claudettes. (Complete this challenge in a single trial)
- Throw every pallet in the first two minutes of a single trial.
- Be mori'ed by a Rank 18 P3 Spirit using Prayer Beads.
- Be slugged until you bleed out
- Be teabagged by two survivors at the same gate during the Endgame Collapse.
- Master Challenge: Be burned by a flashlight while farming fragments motionless as Wraith.
-
Out of all the possible original ideas, many offered by folks on this board... and we get Rin's crazy samurai dad in an Oni mask.
Unfortunate. Meh.
Would much prefer it just be a preview of her being the second Tome's focus and save the new killer/chapter for something original, but... I mean, it says "Chapter Preview," so...
-
Could also be previewing that Spirit will be coming next as the focused killer in the next Archives. I'd like to think they'd get the base characters' lore out there first, but who knows?
-
That moment when you decide to come back from an extended break for the Withered Blight Halloween event... and it gets cancelled. Yup, still the same ol', same ol', I see. 🤣
-
Nah, treat the chase just like Clown. Use your pallet wisely (or not at all). And Freddy's distance for placement didn't seem far. He'll most likely place it during the initiation of the loop, 1 second to load, 3 second effect, 5 seconds the snare stays effective afterwards. If you're hanging around the loop, you screwed up. Weaker clown there with no way to cut off ahead of the survivor... and Clown isn't that hard to deal with, himself.
Besides, if he's hit his 8 snare limit, every new snare will (one has to assume) wait on the 5 seconds after-effect to fade on the previous onebefore laying down a new one.
And projection is going to give you a several second head start. Hell, you can walk to a safe spot in that time and keep an eye on the gen to see if he cancels or shows up. And even that goes away entirely with EGC.
Nah, the snares or pallets (or the lowered projection times) aren't going to be enough to warrant wasting any time waking up. Gen rush. Even with stacked add-ons that may make weaker survivors actually want to wake up, it's so easy to wake up that it's not really a major inconvenience (as opposed to, say, cleansing for Plague).
All I know is that with auras gone, mind gaming demoted to standard M1 status, and end game potential blown, I'm disheartened by what I'm hearing/seeing thus far as a "fix."

why plague? more like clown and hag
Plague in that survivors just aren't going to pay attention to their effect and keep on truckin'. Even less so with Freddy, as even Plague eventually breaks you and survivors laugh it off entirely.
-
Doesn't really matter that a micro-sleep hit puts them into dream state when there's no real reason to wake up anymore. Use your clock if it's nearby, nap and gen rush if it isn't.
-
He's the extremely add-on dependent M1 bastard child of Clown and Plague with a heavily limited half-arsed Nurse Blink.
-
Just finished watching the live stream. New Freddy seems add-on dependent AF, no detriments to actions for just staying asleep (Plague says "Hi!") besides weak "snares" (Clown also says "Hi!) with time limits, Dream Pallets take add-ons, Dream Projection to gens can't be cancelled and still have Freddy's copy appear to mind game like originally stated, Dream Projection can't be done on completed or blocked gens destroying his end game potential... I'm sure there's more, but I just kept putting my head down and shaking it.
Yeah, nevermind... hard pass. Can we have old Freddy as a playable option? At least those of us who learned to mind game well with him would have something then.
No use in waking up now. Plague sickness v2.0. Not in the least excited anymore.

Spaghetti Code, ahoy!

110% behind this. Tone down the grind and giving a side objective relative to boosting the perks we actually want to use with each character... absolute win in my book.
With so many killers being so heavily reliant on add-ons, and survivors needing BP boost offerings, I can't imagine doing so will eliminate the grind entirely, so that's great, too.
Reduced mindless grind. Side objectives for each perk. Still a reason to aim for BP. New players not overwhelmed and boosting/maintaining player base. Make it happen, I say.
-
Given the lackluster anniversary event, I certainly hope something of significance is planned for this summer.
-
I'm on PC and would absolutely love being able to play with my friends for a change (who are all on XBox and PS4, which sucks for us). C'mon, console players... come play PC folks! #onebighappyfamily
-
I've been in the same boat since 3.0 launched. It would appear quite a lot of folks are having this problem (not just low music, but absolutely NO music whatsoever). Not sure what's going on, but I hope they sort it out fairly quickly, as it's making chases quite irritating.
-
Wait, some folks have music of any type at any time since 3.0? That'd be nice.

I was about to come in here to call out a cocky attitude...
And found one of the most heartwarming videos ever made.
Thank you. I truly needed that today. LoL

Had quite a few Camper Faces now. Just had one, actually. He kept trying to lock down the basement in Haddonfield. Turns out he was running Night Vision Monocular and Knife Belt Clip... ol' boy meant business. He eventually got me marked and put me on the hook outside the basement house, then he tried to camp me and the 2nd floor gen from the ledge and I kept knocking him out of stalk from the hook. Must've pissed him off fairly well as he tunneled and camped the everlovin' hades out of me. Still made it out. Fairly salty afterwards.
But, yeah, it tends to run in line with what the character is for some folks, stealthy and whatnot. Not too big of a threat so long as you can keep them in sight and/or your teammates aren't total goobers and just bum-rushing the hook for their WGLF stack.

Happy 3rd Anniversary! LoL

Are we really sitting here trying to give cheaters a pass because we're assuming it may raise queue times? What happened to "oh, not many folks are abusing it?" If many aren't abusing it, banning them won't hurt queue times. Nobody uses that perk in standard play... seriously. Put the warning up on the screen so there can be no confusion for the literally two ppl who may use that perk normally... either disable it (highly unlikely) or start weeding out the rotten apples

I don't understand how you can be for people being banned for using bugged perks. Who gets to decide if the person is intentionally abusing a perk?
Not everyone reads the forum or goes online for information. If someone unlocks a perk after it is bugged how are they going to know it's not working as intended when they have no prior experience with it.
If it's bugged disable the use of it until it's fixed
That's a valid point. That's why they put the notice up in the news that pops up when you load the game. I agree that it should just be disabled period until the fix, but it seems unlikely they'll do it given their track history dealing with exploits, unfortunately.
-
I leave a steak on the table, tell my dog not to eat it. That steak is going to be sitting there, untouched, when I get back. Cause she's a good doggo.
Steak here is the exploit. Players choose whether to be good or bad doggos when it's sitting in their faces.
-
Legion players exploiting the notorious add-on combo got the notice of bans quite a bit before the fix dropped. Make it happen; exploiters deserve nothing less. It was good enough for Legions; survivors are no better and deserve no special treatment.

People who think punishing the players is more valid a means than fixing the bug or disabling the perk are far worse than the people who use the perk knowing it's bugged.
Nobody said it was a "more valid" form. But the devs hold the cards here, they've made no immediate moves (like Legion ban) in a viable time span. There's nothing to deter the cheaters abusing this exploit. You'd find the best solution to be sitting back and just letting this play through on its own?
I disagree completely... folks who knowingly abuse bugs and exploits are the lowest scrape of the barrel. Can't stand a cheater and it's rather worrisome that so many in this community are taking the "don't hate the exploiter, hate the game" mentality.
No wonder this community is infamously known as one of the most vile and toxic in current gaming. Too many with 0 morals and froth at the mouth over streamers who show them the way.
-
Word has spread far enough by various bug posts and streamers that they obviously know about it by now. If they hope to keep some semblance of validity, they really need to start throwing the bans out there.
Until then, just keep an eye on the abusers and don't forget who did so. They're a unique form of exactly what's wrong with this game and should be ostracized in kind.

Kinda ironic how I went and checked your latest vod, clicked randomly and saw you rocking Wake Up.
Wow... you're right. Just... wow.
-
Have an upvote, Outland, because you nailed it. A disease in itself is bad... to spread that disease by choice is much, much worse.
-
Not in the least. It's not like the outfits are rare or even really remarkable (Claudette aside... ahem). Unless you honestly have nothing else to do with bloodpoints (or just really got a crappy hand dealt with perks leading up to 50), it's really not worth it. Losing all the add-ons and offerings you've built up, all the time spent... c'mon now.
And, 100% honest, I've not noticed a difference in the amount of rares or extra rares I've had available in the web through the characters I've leveled. Maybe there is and I've just got a humdrum RNG throughout, but if it's happened I haven't found it noticeable (although I barely play any add-ons or offerings beyond BP boosts, so it's not something I'd strive for, anyway).
Maybe if you had a seriously favorite survivor or killer and/or feel like a total completionist, then go ahead. Otherwise, I'm hard passing on prestiging anybody else (although that's open to reconsideration if something's ever done about the current status of the insane grind).
-
Lucky. Mine has been one or two GFs in between a bounty of Omega Blink Nurses, Spincycle Billies, Cloak'n'Camp Wraiths, and No-Gen Docs. Given your trend, I'm trying to figure out why you aren't using OoO every game by now and just bullying the poor hapless things.
-
Preach. I only have 2 killers I've P3'ed solely because of this. With the curse of crappy RNG putting worthwhile perks near the level 50 mark, rendering the individual character pretty much unplayable in order to use up those offerings and add-ons before losing them completely with a prestige, it makes you second guess the necessity of those bloody cosmetics. Just not worth it right now.
All BP events do is bring out the worst in folks and make you hate the game temporarily, so they're not worth the boon. Throwing BP boosts at the problem isn't an answer; it's a Dollar General brand Band-Aid.
Sounds like the devs realize how bad it currently is, so hoping something is figured out fairly soon. Until then, I'll continue passing on any prestiges as they're a crappy paycheck for it being a full-time job to earn them.
-
Solo-only survivor here, and gens are boring AF. I still do them for points, but I've got to the point where I'll switch up builds for particular roles and swap them out every few trials just to stave off the monotony. Tank, healer, team buffs, hook saver, saboteur... hell, I've even started running a Jerk Jeff build reminiscent of Vega's Pallet Peggy for whenever I just wanna' meme around and be an arse to blow off steam. Anything to keep the boredom at bay (and have a little fresh fun in the meantime).
-
Callin' it here first... Dead by Daylight mini-series picked up by Netflix.
-
Same here. I have no music at all, in chase, anywhere.
-
Devs stated in a previous thread regarding it that it's working as intended, unfortunately. I don't agree with it, either, but that's where we're at and what we're working with.
-
They tried to smooth that second one over stating a 4% increase in either direction of the model, which amounts to a total of 8% increase... but one has to take into account it is double the PTB hotfix amount of 4% viewable GF area, and way more than the 2% original viewable area. With no lengthening of the time it takes to bring you out of stalk. You will be coming out of stalking quick, fast, in a hurry, and much more easily than before.
I don't mind the fix to stalking marked survivors... but that increase is a fair blow on detection area, no matter how much they try to butter it down.
-
Phew! There for a moment I thought I was just randomly staring at the ground, shuddering, groaning, frozen and blocked from moving forward because of a random epic nutting 12x per match. Now I know... and knowing is half the battle.
-
And everything is currently Cells-only, even the mediocre outfits and knives with different colored handles you literally cannot even see to tell the difference between the base knife. Beyond that, I'd suggest waiting to see how bad he is in the hot fix nerf status before buying, period.
-
Confusing post in their release notes of him. One moment it says he's only available through Auric Cell purchase in-game: "Players can access The Ghost Face character with Auric Cells in the Dead by Daylight in-game store.
The Ghost Face DLC will not be not available for purchase on Steam, Microsoft Store and Playstation store at that time."
But then, below that, it gives a Steam availability time for noon today (which it is now past). Who knows? I do know he's not showing up in Steam yet.
Clarification @not_Queen?
-
Legitimately made my eyes twitch after playing one round as killer. I can imagine 2 or 3 trials back-to-back would full-on induce headaches. What makes it worse is literally nobody, killer or survivor side, apparently finds this to be a useful or needed addition... so why is it here? Just take the damned thing out already. I'm baffled.
-
@DocOctober said:
Well, I won't buy him at this time, especially not if they already plan to nerf him.
I do hope others will follow and help set an example. This is a unique opportunity, since Chapter 12 only contains Ghost Face, Survivor mains have no interest buying him in the first place and if Killer players too refuse to buy him for the time being or at all, it will hurt the devs in a way that might actually make them listen again, since licensed Characters are not cheap for them and cost a lot of money to make.
This ^^^ Amplifying this message.
Holding off on buying until they show their nerfs in action in the "hot fix," then I can make an informed decision. I have no immediate need for yet another lesser killer (with terrible teachable perks) in my roster to be a BP dump to P3, just to end up being non-viable beyond green ranks. Hard pass for now. Got burned with Legion, got 3rd degree burned with Plague... not again. No survivor, no map, no decent perks, not a strong killer = no reason to buy. Sorry.

Yeah, I learned my lesson last double BP weekend. Going survivor-only this time and I'm getting 30k-50k per game, and instant queues. About 5-10 mins. per game, that's about 2 matches finished in the time it takes to get one lobby filled as killer, so I'm ending up with 3 matches finished to 1 match as killer... averages out to about 120k BP in about 20-30 mins. Not half bad, considering you get to keep your sanity, as well... even running solo, it's not that bad at all. Yeah, there have been a very small handful of hardcore chaos killers looking to make life hell, but ~BAM~ queue right back up and in a new one in no time. Even those camping/tunneling games are bringing in at least 10k, so even a quick 2-3 minute camping game is easy to overlook in the grand scope of the weekend.
Definitely better than the hardcore sanity-degrading, soul-crushing games one gets on killer right now with squads that have been circle-yanking over this moment and storing up items, add-ons, and offerings since the announcement. Geez, I can't really blame the killers for coming in hot and prepared for pure war... I remember it well. Ta' hell with that this time.
Get in. Get 'er done. Get those BP. On to the next match instantly. Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil, grab Liz, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over. How's that for a slice of fried gold?
-
Between this glaring flaw and seeing first-hand the sheer power of running Object of Obsession against him, he's still utterly worthless. Heavily disappointed.
-
Newest info regarding I'm All Ears:
I’m All Ears: Now triggers within 48 meters from Killer location on any Survivor performing a rushed action.
-
More folks use Spine Chill or Premonition than you'd like to believe. I use it quite often to great effect, especially when I opt for stealth builds (as plenty of folks often do). As the OP mentioned, detection perks like these don't only disrupt GF... they completely neuter him. I'd recommend making Night Shroud react to such perks in the same way Evil Within 1 does. If it makes him OP as the doomsayers are preaching, roll it back. Even if they make it to where Night Shroud has a proximity limit for detection perks, that would still be a middle-ground step in the right direction.
-
Did the same exact thing, thinking I could finally get a decent Jane skin with shards for a change. Nope. This is the trend anymore. Seems like every skin I've gotten hyped for lately is Auric Cells only. Yes, I'm still red about that new Clown cosmetic. I figure this will scootch its way over into the Battle Pass system with free path giving only recolors, paid path giving higher-end recolors and a decent cosmetic piece at the pinnacle, great cosmetics still shop-only, and Iridescent Shards being more worthless than teets on a boar hog for folks who have opened every teachable perk.
-
Times like these are when I hold on while hooked, right up to the last moment... until they swarm in like hyenas to try to all get the unhook and WGLF stack at the same time. You always see everybody leave what they're doing at the same time, this beautiful BP-thirsty silent mating call that draws them in. Then, once the herd is just outside of reach, I let go. Here ya' go, killer... dinner is served.
Solo survivor can be fun; ya' just have to make your own fun. If they've done jack diddley all game but hide and sandbag, feed them just desserts.
-
Survivors do not need items to play well... that's preposterous. All items do on the survivor side are unlock a fifth perk (healing boost perk or Self Care for med kit, Sabotage, various aura and other perks for different key ring items) or boost actions that are already at a balanced level in non-item play.
It's hard to argue, however, that there are quite a few killers whose powers are at such a low base standard that they are currently cemented as add-on dependent (or depending on sheer survivor incompetence per trial). That's a shame, and a glaring problem, that has begged for individual reevaluation on the devs' parts for a long while now.
I've never once felt it necessary to bring any item into a game as survivor (sure, a boost is great, but I've never felt it was needed in order to complete my goals). And even if I did, I could run a few trials and raid boxes for the treasure I need to bring back and keep for free. But there are plenty of killers that I steer clear of using until I can grind more bloodwebs in order to get the specific add-ons necessary to make their powers actually feel valuable and of a viable level. Very big difference.
So yes, to the OP, I agree that many killers need their powers reevaluated or buffed and it would do this game well for devs to put a focus on individual ones in a ranked order to roll out with each patch. There are plenty of ideas floating around here from folks who main specific killers and who know exactly what they need that could be used as a starting point; they just need to take action on it.
