That being said, Lery's is friggin' fine and we all know Haddonfield needs the rework. A silly choice and a waste of time and resources, frankly.
-
No narrative to it. I play a vast majority as survivor now, going to killer only for dailies and challenges, so no conspiracy of killer bias here... just stating the obvious, and in a very jesting way, at that. Knowing good and well Haddonfield needs a map change 100x worse than Lery's, we have to question the logic of such a choice. If the logic is tying priority of map reworks to whatever killer is currently up to deck for a rework, then that's some stupid damned logic, honestly. Clown sucks arse (though he isn't annoying to survivors, so take a guesstimate on how long his rework will take to happen), but let's say he does get a rework... does that necessitate a rework of Father Campbell's Chapel? Nah, map is fine. Seems an odd priority path to take, linking the two.
Jesus bloody Christ, does everything posted here have to be a damned offense to y'all's moms on this forum anymore? Some of y'all in particular, everybody just go and look at some of these folks' comments over the past week, month, several months. Damned near every one, little insulting jabs, little snippets of volatility. The hell is wrong with y'all? Did you not get hugs from mommy as an infant? Does every little thing necessitate some kind of snarky, rude retort that does nothing to further anything besides pouring a double dose of fertilizer on your junk below that keyboard? Killer narrative! Killer bias! Survivor main! One of you sunsabishes drew a mustache on my dead grandma's picture on the mantle! FFS, this forum is like after-match chat jacked up on steroids, funneled down the zit-festered gullet of some 4chan incel god, and lovingly collected in a poop sock.

Noticing a trend here. Enjoy current The Game while you can; it will be next. #SurvivalRateComplaints
-
Low bloodpoints and heavily add-on dependent. Like her concept, strong when loaded, but never play her anymore for those reasons.
-
Really can't choose between Bubba and Clown. But now that Bubba has viability with one-shotting and boosting using PWYF combos, I have to give it to Clown. Sure, even then, Bubba is still a fully add-on dependent droll, but Clown is terrible (and one of my top 3 favorite killers, so that sucks even worse to see him struggle so badly to be viable).
-
Perhaps the devs just hate the bland look of grey and brown and want to zest every single match up with vibrant green, purple, and red for the holidays. Every. Single. Match.
-
Matchmaking pairing you with people 10-ish rank levels outside of your zone every single match, insane viability gap between solo survivor and SWF, or map design balances... hard to pick.
For sure, they're all FUBAR'ed and untouched at the moment.
-
They've stated they realize survivors don't want to be bored by having to hold M1 longer than they feel they should have to, so unfortunately don't expect anything to be done about it. All I can offer up is pressure gens hard and good luck. Given the RNG nature, especially on some maps, and the viability of some killers, that's not always great advice but it's the best one can do for the time being.
-
100% Jeff and all of Legion.
-
Only ones I'll use is Claudette's new hair (although it looks like half of her face has wicked sideburns from the dangling bit in front of her ear) and the 2 Hag pieces (oddly without a head piece). Maybe the Wraith set a bit. Didn't really get much from it, and even the pieces I'd use aren't pieces I would've purchased. Only charms I use are the high-visibility killer charms to make hooks easier to spot if needed; can't find a reason to make myself stand out more on survivor. Definitely felt grindy, made worse by Nov-Dec being pure insanity at work and could only play 1-2 hours every other night or so.
Maybe I'll have more time in this upcoming Tome and cosmetics will be available for characters I actually use. Just depends on whether you use any characters with cosmetics available as to whether it's worth it or not, I guess. Hoping for less RNG-based challenges; would certainly help the grind feel less frustrating. Definitely won't jump and buy it right off the bat this time, though.
-
Not until the very end and I know good and well whether or not I'll be able to collect on finishing it. Put so much time into this Rift trying to finish it that I feel like I should get a W2 from them for tax purposes this year.
-
Bingo. Challenges relying on RNG and the players you're matched with will always be screwy.
And, rest assured, if there's a post regarding the difficulty and frustration of some Tome challenges, guaranteed the majority of responses to it will be folks letting the world know how easy it was for them, particular. Never fails.

someone dced on purpose soo I didn't get it <3
The times I've had this happen with both 6 Ft Under and Agitation is soul-crushing. They know it hurts, bad, and they'll do it just to spite you. I wish you better luck in your upcoming attempts.

Ewww, propaganda stats with too many variables to be substantial!

Man wants to take the challenge out of challenges. They don't really have to be reasonable, then it's not a challenge. You might as well call them "tasks" if we keep babying them down to what the overwhelming community wants
Not at all. I'd like to take the RNG out of challenges... major difference. And I don't see how making them "reasonable" eliminates the challenging aspect of them; the two need not be mutually exclusive. And if, by your own admission, taming down the RNG nature of some of these more extreme "complete in a single trial" challenges is "what the overwhelming community wants," does that not tell you something?
Not everybody in the community has dozens of games' worth of free time to devote hoping for a team of ignorant folks to play against (something becoming more and more uncommon regardless of rank, especially with the age of the game on PC) that won't DC on you in order to allow the perfect storm necessary for some of these.
Some folks luck out and get it on the first, second, or sixth try. Some are on their 40th+ attempt on a single challenge. Challenges should be based on the skill of the role, never RNG, and basement challenges in particular are solely based on the RNG map you get; the placement of the basement in said map; and whether or not the survivors see what you're doing and stay on the opposite side of the map the entire match, SWF-communicate your obvious intentions, or don't DC outright to spite you (instantly rendering challenges like Six Feet Under impossible that round, with no control or proof of skill on your part).
I don't see anything "babying" about getting rid of nonsensical BS.

Ohh deep 😀but seriously I hate the " the devs said this" statement because I can say "Ill never lie to you again" but if I keep doing it what weight does that statement have not much.
Wasn't directed at you, BTW.
-
Imagine imagination imagining imaginatively.
-
Agreed. I find a Tome focused on Trapper yoinking folks and Claudette slamming pallets quite odd. Seems like they've wasted possible Ghost Face or Spirit challenges with the yoinks, used up all the basement challenges without Bubba (bless his heart, the only thing he's good at)... only so much you can do in a match that you can knowingly attribute to being a particular character's "thing." Here's to hoping they don't run out of ideas and start recycling anytime soon.
-
On attempt 48 of Six Feet Under. Various builds, various killers, various DCs, last-man hatch escapes, wiggles free (because they run to and stay entire opposite side once they see what you're doing) and extreme aggravation. Good thing these are easy-peasy, right? We having fun yet?
-
If your filing an actual report through the site, be prepared to provide video (not just screenshot or wording) as proof. I've had several reports citing various listed bannable offenses where they responded requesting video proof, and not being able to provide video instantly closed the report; fully null and void. Just keep it in mind.
-
Feels like another add-on dependence "fix" incoming...
-
Wishing you the best. That's what I'm on now... seems like no matter where I go or how hard I roll to get from one to the next, 2 end up popping across the screen from me just as I'm getting one done (alone or with somebody else), rendering it impossible until the next match. On match number 27 of trying it right now. I hope you have better luck!
-
So you've finished them all then? You speak in past tense, so I'll assume you're finished.
That's the point, as original stated in the lead post: they're all dirt easy grinds... except the ones that are literally RNG madness, most of which hold lore.
-
Cookie for ya'. I haven't.
-
Missed it. Are we not getting an Xmas event at all, then?
-
"I wAnT a ChAlLeNgE!"
Go find a match that's not thrown or ruined do to a Tome challenge... there's you a true challenge.
-
Big difference between a challenge and absolute agony through fruitless repetition. If you can pull these off willy-nilly so easily, then congrats... you win a cookie, I guess. But the vast majority of folks apparently do not have your RNG blessings.
-
Early on I liked them, because it was something semi-different to try; then I began to gradually dislike them because they were becoming frustrating, either through actually attempting a challenge or a teammate attempting one; now I just absolutely loathe them from both sides.
They've destroyed normal gameplay, turning the game into something entirely different, making it more toxic, hectic, frustrating, and head-scratchingly odd. And they're plentiful and lengthy enough to where it doesn't settle down and return to normal after a bit... it's constant. Every match, at least one person is playing with a particular focus and/or throwing the match in an effort to finish a challenge. And no end in sight. Right from one tome into the next. This is the new DbD and I'm getting zero joy from it, frankly.
-
Limitless perks with instant feedback and continuous location of the killer? You betcha'.
-
Almost feels like the point of the vast majority of these challenges are in the vein of "play badly." Just do it... everybody else will be.
-
@Liruliniel said:
Just a curious question. Didnt you see it spoiled when tome 1 came out?
Yup, just had hope after their redo of Lvl 3 that they'd learned something from the feedback. Go figure. Swing and a miss.
-
Or they could change the challenge to: Find a group of non-toxic survivors willing to bend rules instead of playing the game how it's supposed to be played. Kinda feels odd gaining game lore that way. *shrug*
-
Shouldn't have to farm any of these. That's just bad design, seeing as how it is technically supposed to be against their rules. But that's the point, you're right: some will require farming (and the random hope that you get a group willing to farm instead of toying with you and having their own challenges to obtain.
-
I like your enthusiasm. But not even a Bubba's Basement build with nitwit new survivors is going to pull off those basement challenges.
Semi-intelligent survivors have learned over the past 3 levels to avoid traps the moment they realize they're facing a Trapper.
And Dark Senses is going to require an SWF, full-bore, unless you have a miracle game where killer flat-out ignores you and absolutely nobody else is running gens.
-
Specifically talking about:
6 ft Under: sacrifice 4 survivors in the basement in a single trial
Hungry Jaws: 6 bear trap catches in a single trial
But also the non-lore:
Dark Senses: Finish 4 gens with Dark Sense in a single trial
Agitated Advantage: Hook 5 survivors in the basement using Agitation in a single trial
Every single other one is shockingly easy, but these... bruh.
-
I honestly thought this was satire at first.
-
I work for the postal service, so basically I'm going to have several mental breakdowns, drink lots, pull heaps of unpaid overtime, kiss any possibility of catching up to finishing Tome 1 goodbye, and -- boldly assuming I survive the holidays -- look back and try to figure out where exactly I screwed up so badly in the past to find myself here now in the present.
#JustPostalThings
-
Survivor ones will be like everything else in this game: EZ with an SWF group.
-
Killer by an extremely large margin. It's not even remotely close to being comparable.
-
*laughs in first-hook suicides and purposeful deranking*
To put much faith in the data they've chosen to release is folly. It's basically inconclusive on the many variables concerning "why," which is the key component in determining if that data is even worth discussing.
-
Gotta' agree here. "Complete in a single trial" ones are off the charts frustration- and repetitive-wise.
Funnest part is knowing this isn't just a 1-and-done event-type deal... this is forevermore. This is now DbD.
-
Imagine bitching about somebody else bitching.
-
Gotta' agree here. For a top-tier add-on, they sure destroyed its usefulness. More beneficial to the survivors now than Oni.
-
*Deleting until I can get further testing in. I will keep this sumbish viable if it kills me*
-
Just my personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt, but I personally feel like if a killer requires add-ons to be viable -- especially a combination of 2 particular types of add-ons in conjunction -- they're not in a good place. Add-on dependency is the very thing I find wrong with most killers.
-
Make it Auric Cells or Shards and you've got a deal.
-
So does it look any better than it was in PTB? I'm gonna' be hella' disappointed when I get to P3 and it's all still barely noticeable.
Yes, please add some funk and nasty to this prestige.
-
Agreed. Last note built it up to where I was excited to finally get the video and this see brutal moment, see this instant that Evan became the "Trapper"...
Then -- BAM! -- 20 seconds of mediocrity right upside ya' head. Oof.

Jesus I never looked at a side-by-side comparison. Never mind just how bad they made Meg herself look, let's also look at how close they made her to Quentin in addition to how bad Legacy looks.
Haha, I see I'm not alone after seeing that side-by-side. She truly is Quentin's twin.
