Yep I agree with the OP 100%. It is not fair at all. I am not excited for this event anymore. The RE chapter is barely keeping me playing but honestly I don't think it will be enough. Its just not worth going up against these sweaty try hard killers who just want to make survivor's experience in this game as miserable as possible.

Well I wanted points as if it were a real game too. They only got slugged because they were playing aggressively with all the blinding and clicking and going for saves as soon as I turned my back. Had they waited like 5 seconds they'd have seen that I was letting them go.
They could've had a bad match or two before yours. Survivors often get in really bad moods when they go up against sweaty killers. If anything it puts them on edge and they're very weary to trust the killer. I don't think they meant any ill will towards you. Survivors can only communicate with the killer in so many ways. A flashlight flick isn't always done to troll you.

Again, when it comes to NoEd and Devour, you only need to do the lit totems. Secondly, you are not the only survivor, your role is a team role and your teammates should be cleansing the totems. If they don't think cleansing a dull totem is worth it, and pay for it later, that is on your teammates. If I cleanse several totems, and make it to endgame, and NoEd pops, I dip out the doors asap if my teammates were terrible. I'll only stay behind to rescue someone who looped the killer well.
Finally, start running Inner Strength if you want to get value from dull totems and suggest it to players you play with. You get a nice, easy, quick heal for every totem you cleanse, by getting into a locker.
Again, you're missing the point. Cleansing a noed totem is literally a good luck not gonna happen. Its a rare occasion and I mean RARE that the noed totem is found. Also as I said, finding the totems during the match, EVEN WITH the map and perks, STILL takes a very long time to do and its also one less person doing gens and probably someone is being chased by the killer at this point which means you might have 2 people doing gens. You're basing your statements on best case scenarios when that literally is not the way it happens in matches most of the time in my experience. Totems take a long time to find often times and they take a long time to cleanse even with perks. Killers gain way too much power and advantage over survivors with totems for how long it takes to find and cleanse them.

Yea, I mainly play Survivor and I don't have much trouble with finding and cleansing totems, without any maps or perks. The only time I have trouble is when it's Midwich, Lerys or The Game, but that's because I hate indoor maps and try to blot them from memory. You're supposed to cleanse the totems when the killer is in a chase with someone, and if your teammates can't last long enough for one cleanse, then y'all are going to lose no matter what.
If you need help, Small Game has a totem counter and it gives you a noise notification to let you know you're near a gen and what direction it is in. Detectives Hunch shows you where the totems are when you finish a gen. The new perk Counter Force lets you cleanse them 20 percent faster and shows you the furthest totem from you after you cleanse one, while granting you additional cleansing speed.
Heck, run Plunderers to horde pink maps. I do this and I have 150 maps in my inventory.
I literally mean it when I say I have tried everything to get rid of all of the totems as fast as possible and it just doesn't work. They are all too often VERY far apart from each other. I have had several matches today where the totems were each on the opposite side of the map every time I cleansed one. The run time alone was over half the match for me. Cleansing them took that much more time. Also this is all in the assumption that there is a totem around that is going to be bad news for us unless we know there is a hex that needs to be cleansed. The totems also do nothing to progress the objective required to power the exit gates which is why many survivors ignore them. Totem cleansing is just not in the category of interest for many survivors because it feels like a job that doesn't always give that much of a benefit. It really sucks because some hex totems are so strong they essentially give the killers a 2nd power.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2327012#Comment_2327012
For Devour, you only need to find one lit totem, unless they're running Undying, then just look for two. For NoEd, if you're playing Solo, it is actually more time efficient to wait for the last gen to pop, make sure you're not found, and to look for the lit totem.
Yea about that... you see each match has a killer that can traverse the map pretty fast and they can also see hex totems. I've tried every "safest" ways possible to cleanse the hex totems and it just isn't as good as people say it is. Sounds like a good idea, but plays out very differently in a real match.

Do bones.
Every time I try to cleanse all of the totems to prevent devour or noed my team always dies before I find the last and cleanse them all, or enough of them are dead with so many generators up it wasn't worth it to begin with. People don't realize how time consuming totem cleansing is. Even with a map and Jill's perk I still can't find and cleanse all the totems before my entire team is either dead or death hook.
-
They probably just assumed you were going to leave them all on the ground in which case can't blame them for giving at least one of them a chance to escape. You still got a lot of points it looks like. A lot of survivors assume (and rightly so) that the killer is going to be toxic in some way to them. Its hard to tell within the match and plus its all about perspective on what each person considers as fun or toxic. If you're interested in helping survivors get crowns or farm with them, I'd recommend m1 a crown spawn or generator when they're around so they get the message and won't assume you're out to get them.

Ever since the penalty has been disabled DC's are happening more then ever. had a teammate today that DCd because they were found first.
this happens a lot and it screws over the other players on the team.
at least with the penalty there was a consequence for being a quitter.
Its unfortunate that some survivors do d/c if they are found first. I do believe however the main reason survivors leave a match is due to how the killer is playing in which case the survivor determined the match would not be a fun or worth while playing experience. Instead of penalizing people for not wanting to play a game they paid for, instead look at the reasons why survivors do leave matches and improve those areas of the game. In my experience, most people who leave matches said in the post game chat they literally just didn't want to deal with a sweaty or toxic killer and I don't blame them one bit for leaving over that.

The RPD map is by far my favorite map in the game. To be able to run around this place in DBD, especially as the iconic RE characters who did go through there in the games is just awesome. I kind of wish the RPD map had a unique game mode where the survivors could do puzzles or other objectives and escape the Nemesis.

Go make a thread about that so everyone who enjoys the map can do so and talk about it without you barging in and ruining that. People like this map. Get over it.

PLAY NORMALLY IF THE SURVIVORS DONT ATTMEPT TO FARM. DO NOT ENTRAP INNOCENT PLAYERS
If someone does try to farm, allow all of the people who wish to farm to group up, then clean them up with the saw. This is why we use bubba for this.
In farming games, allow the last survivor to live, unless they want you to chase them, then do so.
Please do comment suggestions of help or salt or a legit criticisms that i will reply to
Hey yea theres this thing called the 5th anniversary event for DBD going on where you can get these offerings called anniversary cakes that lets everyone in the match get a lot of BPs that helps in unlocking perks that take a lot of BPs to do on multiple characters. Its kind of a tradition for people to farm more often than not right now so I'm guessing you haven't picked up on that yet.

You shouldn't tunnel someone for any reason, let alone not playing a 5th anniversary cake right now. Many survivors are saving them to use with their friends when they are online. They're also saving them up to use after the event is over which is always nice to see throughout the year. All of my games so far have had at least 1 with usually there being around 3-4 so its not something to rage about honestly.

My only problem with Spirit is how she can instantly attack when coming out of the spirit travel thing. Its nearly impossible to make pallet plays against a phasing spirit, or just about any plays at that. Wrath has to take time to come out of his phasing travel form before he can M1. Spirit should have something similar.
-
I'm really looking forward to playing on the RPD map as Jill and Claire. It'll be like playing a new kind of scenario in an RE game. 😅 I want to play Leon on the RPD map too but I'm addicted to Jill and giving her all my points for now. Poor Leon doesn't have many perks unlocked yet. Maybe the event will help with that.

The halls and small rooms add to the fear factor of the map imo. It'll take some getting used to but its not intended to be this big open outdoor map where you can see everything. The RPD is supposed to be scary with eery halls and rooms where you don't know whats around each corner.

I say it like this because if I play the traditional way and go for hooks but if you come over and play all sweaty expect it in return.
Just had a match where this claudette flashlight saved this Nea So I chased the nea again hooked her went for the claudette and she DCd. and in came the salt.
Ok but please understand that a survivor flashlight saving their team mate is not toxic or wrong. Now if they do as you said and tbag you after then yes that is uncalled for.

Im just playing the game. Just like you. You all do ######### that people consider toxic then get mad when the killer is being "toxic." Its honestly ridiculous. Camping, slugging, tunneling, gen rushing, flashlight clicking, pointing, tbagging, even keys. None of it is actually "toxic" or "mean." You play to win, so do i. Its as simple as that
Except none of those things you listed can literally prevent you from playing the game but the things toxic killers do often removes us from the match early and makes us not want to play anymore. So yea, no comparison there. Its beyond ridiculous you think flicking a flashlight or pointing/crouching is as toxic as a killer camping you or tunneling you down off a hook. Give me a break. Also gen rushing? Give me a break. I wish that was even possible in this game. I swear killer mains seeing a gen get completed is the most offensive thing ever but were supposed to be ok with you tunneling us down right off the hook when we STILL have to do gens to just power the door with no guarantee to escape. You killer mains are spoiled and get so mad over things that literally do not stop you from playing and getting more points but think the things you do that ACTUALLY DO prevent us from playing and gaining more points is perfectly fine.

Some of Van Gogh's paintings were influenced by his stay at an asylum. They're still beautiful.
Einstein's theory on the photoelectric effect was influenced by a mathematician who reached a result he couldn't understand. The theory is still valid in physics.
The Doom franchise was influenced by one of the developers' "stint" making Commander Keen games. Doom is still fun to play.
Marie Curie was influenced by sexism. She is still one of the greatest scientists of all time who made an enormous contribution to science.
Everything you've ever enjoyed, seen, or heard about was influenced by something else, because things don't exist in a vacuum.
For better or for worse though is what I meant. A lot of things in the world lately are being influenced by activism and other things. Is the world more peaceful today because of it? Lately it seems like hatred is more popular than peace simply because people disagree with each other.

Funny you should mention that. The only things developers add that they didn't want to come as a result of orders from management. However, you'll rarely see anyone accept that LGBT stuff can be added "naturally without fear or obligation". Really makes you think, doesn't it?
EDIT: Just for the record, you know how we get patches, bug fixes, and so on? Those are a direct result of fear of bad press, because no developer is actually obligated to do that. Back when there were no patches, the game was shipped as-is. If you encountered a game-breaking bug, well, tough #########. You had to use a workaround (if one existed), or be left with an unplayable game.
I know it can be. I look at the world though and wonder sometimes how much really does influence people's creative decisions.

so, great news: the devs already confirmed they want to be inclusive and add LGBTQ+ chars on their own will. Not because they were pressured. And as survivors are just skins, the chars will be as fun to play as everyone else!
Your problem with GaymerX I don’t understand. But I didn’t look up their work. It just seemed like you had a problem with including LGBTQ+ chars in DbD but maybe you just didn’t know the devs did say they wanted to do it.
Who is GaymerX and did I ever mention them? If a character looks cool I'll play them. I play video games to have fun and spend time with my friends. Thats all that matters to me in the virtual world of entertainment.

I don't see how the inclusion of a gay character takes away from any of that. You can still find those in the game.
This is for those who are into lore, are into character development things that are just as part of a video game as those things you've listed.
Never... said... they... did... If a game is fun or any particular character is fun I'll play them. I'm also into lore and character development. I just want that to happen naturally without game devs feeling like someone is screaming at them to do it all the time.

You don’t have to read the lore, which is already FULL of real life stuff others might try to escape from. And maybe there are people that want to escape from the reality of explicit exclusion and discrimination.
and no, you are not supposed to feel represented in a video game. But others would like to.
if you really think a video game can’t be fun when there are LGBTQ+ characters included… well.. i don’t know what to say..
Literally never said that so don't put words in my mouth. Video games are fun if they are fun. I have tons of fun playing video games that have lgbtq+ characters in them and even play as them in some of them. Why? Because they're fun to play and I couldn't care less what a fictional character is into. Game devs should make what they want to make and not feel pressured into doing anything.

Then bad news considering video games are an artform, and Art represents a distorted version of reality 99% of the time. All you need is to squint at the deeper meanings and the true meaning of the game becomes clear. Games like Celeste, for example, do this wonderfully.
I'm not looking for deeper meanings in video games. I'm looking for reckless fun, cool characters and shiny loot to have my reckless fun with.

What this guy said.
I imagine what most (legitimate) complaints about gen rushing are complainung about isnt actually the survivors themselves. It's that the survivors have so many tools to extend chases ASWELL as quickly finish gens.
Heck, use Lethal Pursuer for a day and count how many games 2 survivors spawn on 2 seperate gens on the other end of the map and both are 60% before you're even close enough to start a chase.
Tunneling involves a 2nd survivor unhooking the survivor that is going to be tunneled. You're not going to see very many generators going off when you only have 2 that might be working on them during all this tunneling going on. Also often times survivors try to save camped survivors which also slows down gen progression. In matches where I see killers tunneling down the first hooked survivor, they usually end up dead and another survivor injured or downed while I am left wondering how 2 of us are going to complete gens and try to make a save so we don't have to do 5 gens on our own.
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
Why do survivor mains get upset at Camping/tunneling?
I mean its just the killer doing their objective in the most effective way possible.
What is there for a survivor main to be upset about Camping/Tunneling?
Yikes... Well the amount of times I have or even see more than 2 survivor on a single generator doesn't happen nearly as often as I wish it would. Keep in mind that killers can see all of the generators on the map. The difference between doing generators fast and tunneling/camping is that killers can much easily more stop gen progression than we can a camp/tunnel especially if its against certain killers and perks. When we have to literally stay in 1 spot for a long period of time to complete an objective its hard to question why survivor mains get upset over camping and tunneling. There is no way for us to stop a killer from making us scatter from a gen if they find us. For us to stop a camp or tunnel it takes an insane amount of cooperation and hoping things go as right as possible and even then its a big maybe. Also keep in mind that we can only do gens so fast even with multiple survivors on them. We have to do 5 gens to merely give us the chance to escape. If you camp or tunnel down a survivor early in the match guess what? We still have to do 5 gens to escape. Camping and tunneling a survivor is simply a mean thing to do to them. If 1 or 2 gens go off in the first couple minutes of the match you still have an opportunity to turn the match around. If a survivor is camped or tunneled to death they can't do anything to turn the match around for them.

There absolutely is a comparison between hitting someone on the hook for no benefit in the game and teabagging/flashlight spamming in the exit of a game that's already been decided for no benefit in the game. Just because you're okay with one and not the other doesn't change that fact -- both actions provide no progress towards a game objective. What you consider harmless "fun", someone else may not. If you said, "I'd never hit someone on hook, but I can see why a killer might have "fun" doing it, so I won't get offended", then at least your position would be consistent.
I've seen a LOT of survivors get downed and picked up in the exit gate for crouch spamming too much. Also tbagging killers during the match could divert a killer's attention. Hitting a survivor on the hook is just mean and toxic. Yea it may buy the survivors a few extra seconds on gens but its not as game changing as making a killer chase you. Its situational. Like I said, I only like doing it against a ghost face that does it too or against toxic killers. Other than that I don't even bother. I rarely play killer and its usually just for the daily win experience or to goof off with the survivors. When I do, I honestly love it when they all tbag me. Its just funny to me. Maybe if I actually played killer and cared about my rank with it I would feel differently but really I just think its funny to see bouncing survivors just trying to have fun.

I'm going to play devil's advocate. When I play survivor, I don't do anything considered toxic -- no teabagging ever, I leave the match when I know my teammates are either safe or dead, and I don't locker/vault spam, flashlight spam etc. When I play killer, I don't hit anyone on hook, no camping, no tunneling if at all possible, and I only slug if that's the best option available (not the "slug four people and let them all bleed out" situation, which I would consider toxic).
You said you don't think teabagging is offensive -- but hitting you on hook is? Let's look at them both objectively. Teabagging the killer in the exit of a match you've already won accomplishes nothing. You don't get points for it. You don't advance an objective. You're not distracting the killer or taking on aggro at that point (the ONLY reason teabagging could be considered viable is to do that early in a match, if you're the best looper by far in a SWF and want to waste a killer's time in chase). Those exit gate teabags contribute nothing to a successful result in a match.
Hitting a person on hook? Same thing. It accomplishes nothing towards futhering the killer's objective. They get no extra points for it, or any in-game benefit. It won't distract other survivors or lead to anyone doing a risky save. Like the teabagging in the exit gate, it accomplishes nothing in-game.
So to be consistent, you'd have to consider those on equal footing, right -- and either take a different stance on the teabagging or the hitting on hook as to not be hypocritical? As I said, I don't do either, because I consider both BM'ing, so MY stance is consistent.
The killer still has the opportunity to hit me if I tbag. I can't do anything on a hook if the killer hits me on it. If they're tbagging at the exit gate, then M1 them out. There is no comparison. Killers hitting survivors on the hook is toxic. As far as tbagging goes, I have had several matches where me and the killer would interact with each other doing this and we'd both have fun doing it. Its especially fun against a ghost face that plays along. Also consider that survivors often do get overly excited for actually making it to the exit gate and like I've said before our ways to interact with players is limited. We get a point, a follow motion and a crouch. Sometimes they're just excited to escape. Sometimes they're doing it to taunt the killer. I personally find a survivor bouncing up and down to be funny. Find the humor in it instead of just getting offended every time. There isn't much humor to find on a hook being hit over and over though. Also I must clarify that I rarely tbag in matches. Its either against a ghost face thats doing it too or against a killer that thought they were going to get away with a camp, tunnel or slug but lost. If I played killer I'd honestly be sad if survivors didn't tbag me. It just looks funny to me and I know they're just trying to have fun too. DBD really does not other game modes that aren't always about the pip.

Why are you guys so toxic? Stop this teebag and leave the gate if you leave no one behind. Its just annoying to play against toxic survivors in every game.
Stop hitting me on the hook, camping, tunneling and slugging (saying this to all killers who actually do this btw) and maybe you'll see less tbagging? Survivors get so many toxic killers that its just part of how many people play now. Also I don't really think tbagging is that offensive. I personally think its funny in most situations. Maybe if the survivors had more animations? I'd like to see a wave animation. I also think it'd be pretty awesome if survivors could dance but I'm sure that would be called toxic too.

Keys should spawn in every match. Killers should never bellyache about keys when endgame collapse exists, a completely killer sided mechanic. A killer should never ever be able to hook a 3rd person, stand on the hatch and guarantee their 4K. That's a lose lose situation for the survivor and it happens every time in this situation.
Yep. I've all but given up on even going for the hatch when I'm the last survivor anymore. This literally happens to me every time this situation happens. When you're having to run the killer, or even just the killer roaming the map, they most likely are going to find the hatch before you and as soon as that third survivor is hooked its off to the hatch to make sure it closes the very moment it opens. At the very least the killer should not even be able to interact with it, or just not even see its spawn location until it does open. The fact they can hook the 3rd and basically control the hatch if they know where it is when they die is beyond ridiculous.

And so were old moris. You needed to find, chase, loop, and hook somebody once, then do it again to get any effect. That's still conditional. Different than keys, but still conditional.
You do realize it's a 4v1, right? You don't need to pound out gens, you can simply loop, or hide in a corner, and let your team do the work, and still teabag on a hatch and escape.
'Do people not realize that killers find the hatch first before survivors do way more often?'
Where is your evidence of this claim? Your experience alone is not a blanket statement for the entire game.
'Do they not realize that all they'd have to do is proxy camp it while keeping an eye on the doors?'
So, they have to guard gates that could pop on opposite sides of the map, and a hatch? You make that sound like it's easy, especially on larger maps, or M1 killers. And would it matter? This scenario comes down to a 1v1. Of course the killer is in the power role here. If the killer closed the hatch and just needs to watch the gates, then the EGC has started, so why would you be entitled to a key escape? You try and win, or you try and die.
My evidence for this claim is my experience. In 1,400 hours played and in nearly every match where it comes down to 1v1, the killer has most of the time found the hatch before me and usually is just standing on it before it even opens. This is not an unreasonable thing to say. You know its true that killers find the hatch first more often after the 3rd survivor dies before the last survivor does. At the very least, the hatch should reopen after 30 seconds so the killer has something more to do than to run back and forth between what is often 2 very close doors.
The old moris were a problem and they were changed because of it. I am not lying when I say every single match I had that had a mori played ended very fast and with the killer getting 4k most of the time. I am also not lying when I say that even now I see keys used very rarely and even less often even used. Last night for example I used 3 of my keys and died all 3 times. I wasn't even tunneled off hooks. Killers don't realize just how much power they have over survivors and think that just because one of the survivors has a key in their hand that suddenly the match is in their favor. Its not. Getting the required number of gens done based on number of alive survivors is much more difficult to do than the killer finding and hooking survivors especially with all of the perks killers now have to find us with. As I said before, killers get so offended when a key is used against them even if they have 10 good matches in a row. Also yes, we do need to "pound out gens." Why? Because the longer the match goes on the higher chance we have of being found. It literally is our objective to find and complete gens as fast as possible. You may say its your objective to find and take our survivors as fast as possible then. Well here is the problem with that comparison. You don't have to stand still on a sound producing gen for 80 seconds. Because of how survivors have to play to complete our objectives it is completely fair we have something like a key to offer us another means of escape. You're faster than us. You have a permanent power. You have perks you can literally use from every killer you own. You even have addons that can literally control how we spawn on the map. But those keys though. I still can't remember the last time a key was successfully used in a match I was in. Its been weeks if not months.

Same can be said for old moris.
There is no comparison to how game changing old moris were compared to keys. The old moris were so powerful it was like the killer having a 2nd power to use in the match. Keys were still conditional. I still had to complete ever so many gens even when my team was being slaughtered around me. In fact it was hardly worth playing unless you did have a key against the old moris and even still you didn't always make it.
