  • No, but it certainly isn't a bad thing and will increase the player base by a large amount. That is good for the game.

  • I made a bug report concerning some of Kate's cosmetics over 2 years ago. It became "under review" in July 2023 and hasn't received any updates since. Also the cosmetics haven't been fixed yet the last I checked. Its been way too long for something like this to not be fixed yet.

  • You don't get a collab as big as FNAF and not go all out with it.

  • The idea of a finisher mori is problematic. No one is going to want to be the last survivor if it goes live, which will negatively affect how matches are played.

  • Its a little past the 24 hour mark of the announcement and the post has received 27.7 million views! The hype for this collab is insane.

Scott's not a convincted criminal, I think that's the big difference with that

I get what you mean though.

Exactly this. There is no comparison.

You can say it's not fair to compare what was done to the franchise but that's the very reason we didn't get the creeper from jeepers creepers in this game and at that time was a chapter alot of people really wanted, while I personally don't care if fnaf is in the game or not, I do know that there's an equal amount of people that oppose it being in the game but it is what it is, hopefully it's a fun chapter for all

This is not true. The DBD X FNAF announcement has been received very well. To say there is an equal amount of people that oppose it is a very dramatic stretch and is simply not there.

You sure it's not just viewbotting? I seen this kind of thing happen before. The view gain is way too quick.

FNAF is very popular. An announcement involving its collaboration with a game like DBD is going to get a lot of attention. That and I also think a lot of Fortnite players are seeing it because they thought the collab would be with Fortnite.

  • @BOOTtoFACE said:

I think these stats are fake.

Oh they're real. The amount of reposts and replies to that announcement is reflective of the stats viral posts like this get. Everyone is talking about this right now, and likely still will all the way up to the release.

Not gonna lie, didn't expect that many people were hyped for this.

I knew it would be big if it ever happened but I didn't expect it to be this big. DBD's future is looking better than ever right now. 😃

it would go a long way if you showed any sensitivity on the subject. people are clearly upset and for very valid reasons, and this is an extremely tense subject. for me to stop reminding you that this is an extremely tragic thing to happen for a lot of people, you need to show that you don't need the reminder.

the very first response says "despite the naysayers" and you had nothing to say to that guy. but responses to me are instant. hmm.

This is a hype thread for DBD's biggest collaboration announcement ever. If you're not interested in that, you can go make your own post talking about how much you don't like it instead of coming into other people's threads and being a killjoy.

  • @deckyr said:

this feels less like sharing excitement for fnaf and more like taking opportunity of an advantage to rub this in queer peoples' faces, especially given your previous comments in other threads on the topic.

I've been waiting for FNAF to come to DBD for a long time. I am super excited about this and clearly a LOT of other people are too. Sorry you feel this way but you seem to be only interested in being a killjoy to everyone happy about this.

  • @OrangeBear said:

I remember seeing it got 1.7 milion views after 19 minutes, and it's quickly become the most liked DBD tweet.

It's fair to say it's one of the most requested and anticipated collabs despite what naysayers think.

Yep! I was watching the post all day and couldn't believe the amount of interactions it was getting so fast. I knew it would be super hyped if it ever got announced but this far exceeded my expectations. Its freaking insane how much love this has gotten and it hasn't even been a day!

    @bjorksnas said:

Views isn't necessarily hype, it just means views, if its controversial it probably gets a lot of views but that doesn't mean it has a lot of hype

FNAF is one of the most beloved horror franchises in the world. I think its safe to say a LOT of it is hype.

don't you think there's a small difference between individual consumers and mainstream franchises?

    like, just a little bit?

Your whole argument was about funneling money to Scott Cawthon. I can promise you he's made way more money from FNAF overall than he ever will from just this collaboration and this collaboration is going to make a lot of money if I had to guess.

im not trying to demonise people who would buy this chapter. i just think if they never sell the chapter at all, then i never have to worry about someone using it the same way people used to use bubba's smartface cosmetic (especially with all the pride charms people are wearing nowadays) and i don't have to worry about playing a game that helped give money to someone who publicly gives financial and verbal support to a fascist.

it's not "people who buy this are bigots". it's "bhvr shouldnt support a bigot and funnel money towards a bigot".

But aren't you demonizing BHVR for collaborating with FNAF? Do you think everyone who has purchased a FNAF product is a bigot or wrong in any way?

I don't feel any unfairness in this kind of opinion and I feel blatant bias from your wording, if you said same thing a long time ago, all that tells me is you've been disliked those kind community for longer time, at least that would be my interpretation

No matter how they "show a support", it doesn't matter when they also show the support for opposite (not sure if it's true this time but whatsoever) opinions, because that'll make the "support" they shown looks like nothing but a corporate advertisement program

Don't get me wrong as I don't feel anything towards the way BHVR do things, beside some unfairly nerfs, but I don't blame anyone for feeling like they've been cheated

Do you realize the implications that are made when people criticize FNAF this way? Its like saying the entire FNAF fanbase are bigots or anti lgbt for playing a FNAF game or supporting it in any way. That is why this level of criticism is irrational.

Not sure if that's a dogwhistles tbh, "it will never be enough for them!" seems to me nothing but a rather aggressive and taunting attitude, It is quite an antagonistic way to argue and which is really obvious for anyone reading it

I've said this before on another issue like this. It was a long time ago so I don't remember exactly what the situation was but I remember it being related to lgbt and people complaining about it. I basically stated how the criticism wasn't fair, which is the same way I feel about this. BHVR has gone out of their way to show a lot of support to the lgbt community and I feel like these emotionally charged criticisms are unfair to them.

I really don't think it's too much to ask for a company not to collab with someone who will pass that money on to entities that want to strip our rights. But if I'm taking notes correctly:

Supporting anti-LGBT causes and inadvertently donating to those causes is okay as long as it promotes my business. Got it.

FNAF is not an "anti-LGBT cause." You are being completely irrational about this.

it's crazy how YOU don't realise, or simply don't care, that their lgbt support is hollow after collaborating with a bigot. not just a bigot, but a bigot who has used his wealth to support groups and politicians that want to make our lives worse.

bhvr's lgbt support used to feel genuine, and after seeing this announcement, it feels fake and it feels like i've been lied to this whole time. "keep in mind that bhvr didn't have to do anything for the LGBT community" yeah well they did, and now they're taking it back. you - who acts like you're so enlightened and so much smarter than everyone else - don't seem to understand how that has crossed a line.

just post "queers shut up" next time, go mask off with it. bhvr is on your side now, get emboldened, call me a slur while you're at it.

bhvr, announce the harry potter collab next! your new audience will love it.

This is exactly why I said before that no matter how much they do in support of the lgbt community it will never be enough. They're not taking back their support for the lgbt community because FNAF is coming to DBD. This collab is not a statement on their views and values. Its purely business and nothing more. While I believe game developers shouldn't use their products to promote their stances on things like this, it by no means should inhibit them from putting the growth and prosperity of their business first.

  • Its crazy how people complaining about this don't realize, or simply don't care, that this is purely a business decision and in no way reflects the views or values of either party. Do people actually think they're going to just stop showing their support for the LGBT community now that FNAF is coming to DBD after all they've done? Keep in mind that BHVR didn't have to do anything for the LGBT community and could've focused entirely on making their games being a game development company. The fact that they did shouldn't mean that they can never collaborate with people who don't share the same social/political values.

  • This is going to be the biggest DBD chapter ever. Its going to be even bigger than the first RE Chapter. I am so freaking excited for this. Summer 2025 can't come soon enough!

  • LETS FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get your problem with legion, but as bullshit as cenobite is, I think he's fun to play against. You can see the puzzle's aura, so finding it isn't hard, its just timing solving it to when he's busy and can't teleport or accepting the chase.

A fair passive power is Freddy's dream world. It adds extra obstacles to the map but it doesn't prevent you from progressing the match entirely. Cenobite's passive power literally stops you from playing the game and forces someone to find the box and solve it, which puts that player at risk of being forced into a chase with the killer just for doing something they had no other choice to do. You can't ignore cenobite's passive power. With Freddy you can stay in the dream world the entire match if you so choose. Several killer powers are far from balanced.

You do know you can mend yourself, right? you don't need an ally to cure deep wound

Trickster - Just spams their power and you die, no skill, no fun chases, no jukes.

Yes I'm very well aware you can mend yourself, and he still forces survivors into endless altruism. In the time it takes to mend yourself Legion can find and deep wound the entire team or even down and hook someone. Legion can do this the entire match. Its the same problem with cenobite's chains. He forces survivors to find and solve the puzzle or you cannot progress the match.

  • Legion. By far the most annoying killer in the game. His power gives him complete control over everything and forces survivors into endless altruism.

  • Its hard to pick just one. I think its a tie between leatherface, legion and the cenobite though about half the roster is not fun to play against depending on their loadout.

  • The best way to approach this is to mitigate the reasons why players do it. It won't completely get rid of it, but it will lower the occasions of it. There are some killers in this game who are just not fun to play against. There are many loadouts of killers that people don't want to play against. When killers have addons that serve as basically additional powers for the killer its going to make people not want to play against that. The most common occurrence of people giving up on first hook I see is against leatherface. A killer who can instant down you with the press of a button is overpowered. Myers and Ghostface both have conditions to their instant down. All leatherface has to do is press a button and he can literally down an entire team with one use of it.

The point is, the more entertainment and fun value survivor players see in playing a match the more likely they are to play out a match. Don't go after the players for doing it. Go after the reasons why they do it. Also incentivize playing out matches more.

That was the point though. The cosmetics they get beyond the default don't have to be canon to be relevant to DBD's theme. They exist as a variation of the character that could have been used as the default.

Except they exist to replace the default cosmetics with optional cosmetics, that doesn't make those optional cosmetics defaults like the base cosmetics are, since defaults are only the base/starting outfits that all characters have equipped to begin with, there can't be multiple defaults for the same character.

Also what could or couldn't have been used as a default instead doesn't matter in the slightest, either a cosmetic is or isn't the default outfit, there is no inbetween on this.

Ultimately its about marketing and making profit.

It's always been about money, even before when bhvr actually kept their cosmetics in line with the rest of the game's tone and aesthetic, so all that means is that bhvr is willing to sacrifice the game's existing horror in pursuit of money should it suit them to do so.

It also doesn't change the fact that cosmetics like the most recent rift ones doesn't fit with the rest of the cosmetics in the game, no other cosmetics in this game come as close to how DBD Mobile cosmetics looks like on mobile, even the cosmetics that are directly ported from mobile itself are noticably changed up in how they look on core DBD to fit with the rest of cosmetic's tone and aesthetic on there.

If you compare how mobile cosmetics on mobile itself looks and how core cosmetics looks, the difference between both of them becomes very apparent with how much they stand out from each other, unlike the new rift outfits and the upcoming Feng outfit when compared with the average mobile outfit on mobile itself and how much closer they are to each other.

If you look at some of the outfits like Sable's summer skin you wouldn't think that would be anything more than just a style of bikini she would wear but she also has a giant wound on her back which shows that horror element.

Exactly my point, even recent cosmetics like the Sable's beach skin have at least some elements of DBD's horror aesthetic and theme with elements like blood, fabric-tears or just in general being dirtied up, things most cosmetics on core DBD have a visible amount of.

The new rift cosmetics however does not have any of that and in fact are completely clean and factory new looking, the same way cosmetics on DBD Mobile itself are exactly just like that, which coupled with unnecessary particle effects like the fox tail and glowing hair for Yui or the upcoming Feng outfit, these new types of outfits stand out like a complete sore thumb as they contrast almost every other existing core DBD cosmetic in the game currently. As unlike them, these new type of Fortnite looking skins have not a single shred of horror to them.

Games like tf2 & rainbow six: siege lost their original aesthetic, theme and tone by embracing these types of glossy and shiny eye-candy looking cosmetics, DBD will suffer the same fate as those games if it continues down this path by adding cosmetics that are just like these new ones.

If it brings more people to the game, does it really matter? I think Lara Croft doesn't really fit in DBD, but I've seen her in almost every match I've played since the update. No matter what kind of cosmetics or characters they bring in, the game is still going to be about fantasy horror killers hunting down survivors to sacrifice them to a cosmic demon spider. If you really think about it, cosmetics like what we see in the current rift have really belonged in DBD since the beginning.

  • @Smoe said:

They can reflect something from a character such as being in line with a character's theme or personality, however that doesn't make those skins or skin descriptions canon to the characters themselves by default, as none of the skins outside the ones that appear in tome cinematics are part of their base and tome lores directly, also we have no proof from the lore itself that cosmetics are in fact alternative reality versions of the characters, as it is never directly backed up by the lore itself. The only parts of the lore that we know are specifically alternative reality versions are mainly the characters featured in the NPC tome entries.

Also i specifically remember from a livestream 2-3 years ago with the devs, that Cote said that cosmetics aren't canon and that only the default ones are, unfortunately however it's source cannot be traced back to it's origin because bhvr doesn't save all of their twitch livestreams, so take it with a grain of salt.

That was the point though. The cosmetics they get beyond the default don't have to be canon to be relevant to DBD's theme. They exist as a variation of the character that could have been used as the default. Ultimately its about marketing and making profit. Even still I think this rift and everything else in the game so far fits. If you look at some of the outfits like Sable's summer skin you wouldn't think that would be anything more than just a style of bikini she would wear but she also has a giant wound on her back which shows that horror element.

  • @Smoe said:

Cosmetics are irrelevant to the lore because outside of the few additional ones that appears in tome cinematics, cosmetics in general aren't canon and their descriptions aren't canon events either, that's why most cosmetics you see in the lore that Survivors and Killers wear are the default ones primarily.

It may not be exclusively horror, but that is it's primary theme overall and in mostly all other themes the game has dabbled in at least reflected that one way or another, even the existing Spirits and Magic also reflected that horror theme. Also The Entity is straight up eldritch horror through and through with any other elements to it being completely minor and secondary.

These newer cosmetics have none of that and quite frankly is nothing more than aesthetic bait same way DBD Mobile cosmetics are, all clean, fantastical, nothing the characters would actually wear and no trace of the horror theme of the game.

These kinds of cosmetics are exactly what's gonna end up turning DBD into TF2 if it continues down this path.

They're not entirely irrelevant. Most of the cosmetics from what I've seen reflect something about the character. Either that or they reflect a moment in their life or an alternate reality of them. They basically could've been a version of the character that the entity could've taken. The cosmetics enhance the characters and make them more interesting. They would all be quite boring if most of their cosmetics were just different variations of torn bloody clothes.

  • @Smoe said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3761847#Comment_3761847

It has nothing to do with the characters i play not making it in, it's purely by the fact that the direction these cosmetics are taking is veering too far into DBD Mobile/Fortnite cosmetic territory with how clean, fantastical and eye-candy looking for the sake of just being eye-candy, completely disregarding the game's existing theme, aesthetic and things associated with them such as blood-stain, fabric tears and generally looking dirtied up & worn out (Especially by adding overly ostentatious things like glowing hair and spirit parts or animated effects for primarily Survivors.)

We've had cosmetics before in the same vein, but at least they had the aforementioned elements and mostly looked like something characters would actually own and wear, never taking it to this degree.

I understand where you're coming from but in all fairness I think these cosmetics fit very well into DBD's world. DBD isn't just exclusively horror themed. It has fantasy elements as well. The main antagonist is a giant space spider monster than can alter realities. Most of DBD's killers have fantasy themes in their design. Magic and spirits are very much a part of DBD.

It was only a problem when survivors try to unhooking right on killer face. But now its kina worse cause unhooking is literally free escape and survivors do it right on front of the killer.

Its not a free escape. You get another hook unless you miss the 2nd hit in which case thats on you. Rarely do I see unhooks with the killer nearby not end with the killer getting another hook.

  • I don't think anyone misses matches ending in 3 minutes due to killers being able to grab survivors from hook save attempts. There's a reason it was removed as well as camping. Both of them were major problems.

  • This is why Kate Denson should be the face of DBD.

  • A map of Madness Returns version of Wonderland would be awesome. This is a really good idea. The best part about this is that if it were to happen one day it could hopefully get EA Games to consider making another Alice game.

  • Simple answer to the problem is don't treat it like a failed skill check. Why? Because you didn't fail the skill check. You wanted to leave the gen. If a skill check procs when you leave a gen, just have it cancel out. I'm surprised this has been in the game as long as it has been.

That isn't what I asked. I asked HOW you'd make the BOTS "repair gens better" without making it a perfect AI companion the Killer can never touch.

Newsflash also: Survivors are sometimes supposed to die. Killers are intended to get "one more kill" if they think they can. I'm sorry you're upset you can't just hide and toxically drag the round out for 20 minutes at the end because the Killer was smart and used the bot's AI to their advantage, but it's no more problematic than a Dumbtech which also isn't intended. Or do you agree that using something that isn't intentional but can be useful is a bad thing, even on Survivor side?

What was your opinion on the flashlight locker glitch fiasco, I wonder? Still unfair, or was that glitch somehow "not an exploit and fair" while a Killer simply using the bots as a tool is "an exploit"? The answer of course is, neither are exploits. They're like bunny-hopping, ultimately harmless.

You don't need to draw a round out. You don't need to win as Survivor to get results in Grade, BP, etc. And I think we're done here because literally nothing you have said has amounted to more than "I don't want Killers to have any ability to stop me from drawing an already lost round out for a 4k because petty reason #120."

I don't want to hide and drag out the match for 20 minutes. That is the whole point of this thread. The only other alternative to this situation is to literally let the killer win. And what do you mean how? It seems as of right now the bots will always try to evade the killer if they are nearby. If 2 survivors are left and the bot is programmed to be more active than usual in repairing gens then the killer will have to interact with them more than just running by them. Simply have the bot stay on gens even with the killer around. If that happens, the killer will have to eventually grab the bot or down it to stop gen progress. Eventually the bot will die, but more importantly it will encourage the other survivor to participate and prevent the match from lasting forever. If the last survivor doesn't, then the bot will progress the match in a way to where the hatch will eventually spawn and the last survivor only has one option at that point.

I played killer all the way to the highest rank/grade. I never did this. I never needed to do this. I had plenty of matches where survivors tried to hide it out. You know what I did? I eliminated the bot and looked for the hatch. It actually worked out more in my favor than the survivor.

  • @VantablackPharaoh91 said:

How can you make Bots better at repairing gens? All they KNOW is loop and gen, dude…

The killer would have to engage the bot beyond just making it run away if the bots were more active in doing gens, especially in this situation. That is the whole point of this thread. Its literally to prevent matches from being dragged out forever so the killer can get 1 more kill.

  • Its because survivors can't pip at a certain point with just doing gens. That and also they want to get more points and don't see the killer as a threat anymore.

  • @VantablackPharaoh91 said:

Spirit is consistently ranked a High A tier, she's considered in the top five by most players. I'd argue she's like third or fourth strongest in the game played well. She is anything BUT weak.

    Definition of Exploit, from Dictonary.com:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FLRZW57DAJ62/image.png

The bots are intended to work this way based on their AI. This is not a flaw, bug, or glitch. The Bots just have AI that can be gamed a bit, to make them fair, because they have LITERAL WALLHACKS at loops. They are not supposed to be good, perfect, or win you games. Using the AI like this isn't an exploit because Bots are programmed to seek other Survivors out for help, therefore it's not a bug. It's a feature. Blame the Devs, not the Killers. Nobody doing this is, by dictionary definition, exploiting anything, so it's not an exploit. And is it honestly, REALLY NOW, any worse to have a bot doing this than it is for a human player who is realy bad? I sure don't see any difference when I am saddled with a bot at the end.

I do not think this discussion is going to go anywhere, KateMain…

I consider the bots in their current state flawed for not being able to respond to certain situations better. Another example is bots opening exit gates and running out when they clearly were needed to help remaining survivors. The bots absolutely need improvement in their AI, which is why I say killers are able to exploit them. 2 real players in the situation mentioned in my OP would more times than not play out differently. In the case with a bot, the killer knows they can simply check on the bot from time to time to keep them off gens. If your argument is 2 real players would attempt to hide forever then that is a separate problem because in this case the bot is trying to progress the match but responds to the presence of the killer the way its programmed to.

The only thing I am suggesting here is to have bots be more active in their attempt to repair generators so the match can come to an end in a faster and more natural way. That progression can work in favor of the killer or survivor. The point is to simply have the match progress in a way that is fair. The only thing you have been arguing this whole time is to give up because 2 survivors are eliminated. Its unreasonable to expect the last survivor carry the weight of the entire match because the killer figured out a way to force the bot to basically buy them time to find you.

  • Tunneling shouldn't happen at all. We don't need a study on this.
