  • This is so cool. The trailer was fantastic and you can tell they are really giving this remake extra care to make it something special for the fans. If its even half as good as the other RE remakes it'll be great. I can't wait to see more Leon and Ashley in this!

No? I'm sorry if I come off rude, but some people like to be able to see themselves in the game they spend their time and money on. In a game with 30+ diverse characters with extensive lore that's constantly being added to with each tome, why should we not be able to ask for more? I mean, I spend money on it just like everyone else lol. I get you don't understand that, and I don't expect a lot of people to get it either.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad you don't care about the lore and focus on the gameplay and perks. That's totally fine! But I mean, I clearly care about more than just that. And other people do as well.

I mean, I'm not gonna report you for having your own take. You shouldn't get banned for preferring gameplay to lore. But you should at least try to see it from another perspective. Like, I can see it from yours and I respect it. It's just not for me. I care about the gameplay and the perks. I've made many threads in this forum discussing those things.

But I also care about the community. And want to see other members of my community be represented and feel seen, respected, and cared for. Of course you can see that with the love BHVR has given us already. Both in-game and out. But like someone had said earlier, "Horror is a refuge for societal outcasts." So you can't be surprised when people want that replicated in this game. It's like people who find comfort playing chess or card games. Despite how toxic and annoying DBD and the community can be, a lot of people find comfort in the fog and in the community. And a lot of people do read through all of the lore and are invested in it. Yes, I'd love to have a survivor that physically looks like me. (Having to choose between Adam or Jeff is impossible. We need a mixed tall boi with a belly BHVR) But having a survivor that's gone through similar experiences as myself and others is a huge factor when it comes to choosing a main for some people.

Something that means nothing to you (Genres having LGBTQ) actually means a lot to other ppl and a lot to myself.

Oof...yeah this one isn't it either. I've said in my OP that I was happy with David being gay and I love the charms...but yeah, there could always be more.

Y'all this thread was not supposed to rile up negativity stop it. Be calm.

You haven't come off as rude at all. 🙂 You spoke your mind about something thats important to you and thats great! Subjects like this will always attract diverse and dissenting opinions. I think everyone so far has been respectful in giving their view and opinion on it too.

Okay. My take, as the grumpy old resident forum centrist.

Yes, horror has always been a refuge for a variety of societal outcasts, and deals with themes of alienation and misunderstanding, which would certainly make it attractive to the LGBT crowd. Also us nerds.

I'm also fine with you having representation, if it really matters that much to you.

    However...

At the end of the day, if you hyperfocus on one identity criteria, you ensure that that criteria will never be considered normal, let alone 'equal' - because by loudly drawing attention to it, you're setting yourselves apart. I think people were starting to figure this out in the 90s and early 2000s, but we've slid backwards as a species.

Regarding a 'drag queen' survivor, this stuff is a minefield - not from the people who don't care, but from the various, constantly schism-tastic activist groups that could easily take offense at any attempt, no matter how well considered, because it doesn't fit their precise criteria for 'acceptable representation'.

Just look at what happened in MHA, or for a Dead by Daylight example, the wokescolding threads about the Artist patch, and how it's not acceptable to have a POC survivor have his background. Or, hell, the threads about David being 'queer erasure' because he 'didn't look gay enough'.

And therein lies the problem. It'll never be enough no matter how hard they try. "The pride charms aren't enough. David isn't enough. More representation always!" That is what it always sounds like to me when I see reaction to everything done in the name of representation. What is DBD going to look like 5 years from now? 10 years from now? Will it even be around still in the future... Time will tell.

They've released free survivors before. Feng, Bill, and Nea are 3 that come to mind and I think David was paid for but I believe he's free now. And you'd be surprised how big the market is for openly gay characters ESPECIALLY characters who have drag cosmetics (Hell, I've seen so many people say they should've made a NEW openly gay character instead of just making David gay. Ppl want it!) Hell, the number of new David players I've seen (rocking Pride charms as well) since after they announced he was gay has skyrocketed. Just played a game as killer trying to get some BP and two of the survivors had the Pride charm. I mean, even I've started playing him a bit more after that. Not to mention the players it'd BRING to the community.

There's literally a horror themed drag show called Dragula. I mean, imagine the Halloween themed fits we could get in DBD. Elvira themed look? I mean I'd pay for that in a heartbeat.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2981118#Comment_2981118

Yes!!! I need to read it ASAP.

I thought David was one of the original survivors. The game started with just 4 right? I can never remember who they are. I started playing in 2020 so I wasn't sure if there had in fact been survivors offered for free before. I know in the time I've played there hasn't been. You're right in that there certainly is a number of people this would appeal to. If its offered for free then it wouldn't surprise me this would be a thing at some point. However if its marketed then there would be a profit incentive for the design and I just don't think it would sell as well as for example a purely horror themed chapter or even a licensed one. I remember when the RE chapter went live. Everyone loved it! There was so much excitement and my friends in discord were begging me to stop talking about it all the time. 🤣

Also I think an Elvira skin would be great for DBD! 😍

  • I don't think there's a very big market for an openly gay drag queen survivor in DBD. From what I understand, all of the lgbt representation DBD has done has been implemented in the game at no charge. I suppose they could offer the survivor for free but I don't think they've ever done that before right? My opinion is that this would not appeal to enough people from a marketing perspective to be worth it, but then again I can't recall the last time I had a match where I didn't see a pride charm somewhere so maybe I'm wrong.

If you're concerned about representation then I think at this point anyone who plays DBD will get the message loud and clear that the lgbt community is represented in the game. I don't think that just because there are not more lgbt characters that the game lacks in representation of it. Does half the roster need to be lgbt for there to be enough representation in the game? You have to remember that DBD isn't made just for the lgbt community. This game appeals to a diverse audience for simply being horror themed which is a popular genre in and of itself. That is where the focus should be in my opinion. The new Dredge killer for example looks freaking scary and it goes perfectly in line with DBD's theme. No sexuality or identity aspects linked to it (that I know of at least). Its just pure horror for a horror themed game.

Sure, and many of the NOED kills I get are totes deserved. ;)

That is why I said the key often times felt like our only hope. Either noed or a surprise devour hope towards the end. Noed only required 1 totem be up at the end. The hatch required all 5 gens done if everyone was still alive.

  • @Souplet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2980731#Comment_2980731

2 survivors with 2 gens left looks like an undeserved escape but yeah, from survivors point of view it feels deserved i suppose

Again, situational. Yea matches like that happened but I can't tell you how many I had where the key felt like our only hope. They were fun.

  • @Souplet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2980719#Comment_2980719

Yeah, what a blast we had with the keys and undeserved frustrating escapes

Oh trust me. Many of the key escapes I did before felt very deserving and too close for comfort. It was situational in every match.

  • Something needs to be done with them. I usually avoid them in the web now. They used to be so much fun but now they're just dust collectors. The addons for them are still useful. Only being able to use them if the killer closes the hatch when you're the last survivor seems like a rare thing. I honestly can't recall the last time I've seen a hatch opened with a key since the change.

  • Sorry it was just so blatantly obvious you were referring to me. Maybe another reply got deleted or something before I posted. Apologies if you weren't.

  • @jamally093 said:

Think about it all the survivors are doing is just using their arm to hit the back of the killers head but you have someone like Trapper who can brush off being caught in a bear trap but can't brush off a survivor just hitting the back of his head? Then there's the killers like Nemesis a unstoppable beast who gets stunned from survivors just hitting his back or Oniro which survivors never even touch her how is she stunned?

This isn't a post about they need to remove wiggle or whatever it's just a post talking about how can a killer just be stunned by probably not even a hard hit because pallets I get that a bunch of wood hit right on then head but it's just a person lightly hitting your head because of how long it takes to wiggle off just doesn't make sense.

How can a survivor be injured and put into the dying state if dropped from a simple grab? Some things just don't make sense.

  • That doesn't sound like a bug to me or anything I've seen yet. A medkit suddenly turning into a flashlight looks like cheating but maybe it has happened to other survivors? Still, if he knows its a "known bug" he was exploiting it by doing it. As far as the hit misses, who knows. Usually when I get a match with a cheater/hacker they fly around spamming the whole match.

  • I was super critical of the hatch change when it happened. It felt like way too much of a change that made hatch plays a much less common thing in the game in my opinion. It is a good idea to bring a hatch key now and then and put it somewhere safe just incase you're the last survivor but honestly you're probably going to end up losing a lot of keys if you forget to pick it up or don't make it that far.

  • I actually haven't had an afk killer in awhile now except for maybe a couple. I do get them, but lately at the very least they run around doing random things.

  • I wonder if the meta changes coming will change situations like this over time. Sometimes if you do anything more than just run in the open the killers get mad at you. You never know when hitting that solo que ready button.

  • @Mooks said:

Well sadly there may have been one of those bad actors before you..

Nope. Just a stereotyped and misunderstood person of faith acknowledging DBD's diverse community and hoping we can all get along one day.

  • I thought the whole point of dead hard was to reward success by using the perk at the right time. DH doesn't always reward you. If you time it wrong you get little to nothing out of it. The implication with the OP's take is that you're already failing and the perk is rewarding you for it.

  • @Anniehere said:

Emote and right after the animation ends you can take a quick screenshot.

I've tried doing that but its a bit frustrating especially when you're not trying to spend too much time doing it. If I remember back when I first started playing I don't think the survivor heads moved left and right when looking. Its neat that they do it now but I think there should be a way to disable this for better screenshots.

  • I would assume so since I haven't heard anything about getting them now while there is still time. I never liked the bloody cosmetics so I never prestige any survivors. I'm hoping whatever the new rewards for doing it will be will give me a reason to do it this time.

  • Yep I agree. I filled out the surveys and was hoping there would be more questions pertaining to circumstantial things happening. I do appreciate shorter surveys though for time sake.

  • @Wampirita said:

Ngl i like to give survivors a fake sense of security by "befriending" them. Just to backstab them in the end.

It's a dirty strategy, but hey, everything for those kills. And in the future that survivor may not trust another killer, so it's kinda preventing that situation of working with the killer ;>

It's a different situation if survivor straight up snitches on their teammates as soon as they see me. If they do it without me "befriending" them first, ima make sure their game is hell. I'll be called camper, but snitches get stitches.

Honestly these kind of matches can be fun for both the survivor and the killer. Its much different than just teaming up with 1 survivor and going around giving the others misery. My friends always told me when I started playing, "never trust the killer no matter how friendly they are." I didn't always take the advice and I learned the hard way. 😄

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I've had the occasion where a survivor will point to a locker someone is in or where the are crouched. Little things like that. I've always just assumed the were playing together and trolling each other. I've always punished this behaviour with a hook though.

As a survivor I've seen it once. A meg was running around with the killer and would run right up to us. When the killed used their mori on us she would t-bag over our bodies. The killer gave her hatch too. I noticed in the end game screen she was running bond. To me that was a pretty obvious case of "teaming".

Yep. That is clearly teaming. I had a match just like this a long time ago when I was still learning the game and didn't understand everything yet. I'm just glad it doesn't happen all the time. Lately though I have seen more of this kind of behavior from survivors and killers. Bonus BP events seem to bring these players out more so I guess its just an unfortunate side effect we have to look out for. Every match is a roll of the dice when you're doing solo que.

I’m currently working on my Feng, Nea and Jane.

    I want to make up my mind and know who to main as i want to buy cosmetics but I still don’t know ;-;

Does anyone have any tips into how to know who’s like.. my dream main? lol

I'd say go with the survivor who you find the most interesting and you think appeals to you the most. I'm a Kate main (obviously lol) and have been playing her since I started. I did play a lot of Jill/Claire when the RE chapter went live and have put in my fair share of matches as Feng and Yui.

I’m thankful too. And I’m happy that BHVR has been so inclusive and supportive as well, with adding pride charms and having an LGBT character.

Inclusivity has such great potential for DBD's future. The more people it appeals to, the better! I think everyone can find a place in the fog for them here.

  • Be kind to one another, even those you disagree with. I'm thankful DBD has an inclusive community.

You don't think that Steam is fairly proportional to the playerbase on other platforms?

I don't see why it wouldn't be - there's no reason why consoles would be rising but Steam is falling, or vice versa.

It's not the gross player number that's interesting, it's the wax and wane.

I imagine if Steam is showing a rise in numbers then other platforms are too. People tell their friends about DBD all the time. Their friends may try it out on console and then start playing together. Word can get out there all sorts of ways. When I play other games and talk about DBD there are lots of people who have never even heard of it before. I had never heard of DBD before until my friends started playing it again and I watched them play it for awhile before I started playing.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

Rising numbers on a singular platform is nowhere near enough data to create conclusions on the entirety of the playerbase. There is literally no point using Steam and only Steam's player numbers.

You do have a point. I'm curious as to how much of the Steam player base makes up the overall DBD player base. I'm not sure where to look to see data on player numbers for other platforms so I don't know if the same trend is happening on console too. Seeing rising numbers on even one though I think is a good thing. And yea I do think it may be because of the anniversary event coming up and also the reveal of the new RE chapter. That is sure to bring back a lot of players if even for awhile.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

That's great why do we care

We care because we want to see DBD in a good place and continue to be online for the foreseeable future. Rising player numbers on steam is a good thing as it shows a returning interest and possible appeal to new players on that platform. This is also why everyone should be doing those surveys they mentioned. The more feedback they get the better they can make changes to the game to make the players happy and attract more people to it.

problem is that you don’t know if he has tombstone.

It often doesn't take long before you realize he has one at least in my experience. I've had some where they could've activated it much sooner than they did but waited awhile. Those can be more fun but when you see half your team die very early in the match you go from gens to hide mode very fast. Its often a waiting game to see who dies first so the last person can try to make for the hatch.

  • I've talked about this before in the feedback forum. Myers is one of the more fun killers to play against but his tombstone addon gives him too much power in my opinion. I've had too many matches where my team simply doesn't realize he's in the match and before you know it half the team is gone before a generator is done. I know the counter to this is lockers where he is forced to either leave you in there or grab you out and hook you. The problem is I think most survivor players don't know that. Heck even I don't remember to use lockers most of the time against a tombstone myers. Maybe if the tombstone only allowed for it to be used once per trial it would be different.

I'm always nervous to say GG in the post-game chat. I feel like there's always a way it can be taken poorly. If I'm the killer and I sacrificed everyone, saying GG sort of sounds like I'm saying, "Oh, well, I won, so it was a good game." If I'm playing as the killer and I get completely massacred by survivors - in the sense that no one really got any bloodpoints that game - it seems weird to say GG because, well, no one really got the most out of that game in terms of an experience and points. I feel better saying GG when it isn't such an obvious loss or win for either side, but I still get nervous. My go-to, generally, is if someone else says GG first, I'll respond in kind. But then I get all philosophical and sort of wonder, "Well, what if the others are waiting for someone to break the ice with a GG?" or, "Is it right to hold back from spreading some form of positivity - however slight it may be in the form of a GG - just because of the fear of negativity?"

Long story short, it's hard for me to gauge when a GG will be taken well and when I do say GG, I sort of just sit there and hope I didn't offend anybody. XD

I've had many matches where someone would say GG and someone else took it the wrong way even though all things considered overall it was a pretty good match. I've also had killers say GG before when all they did was hard tunnel everyone out and hit them on the hook. For me, as long as the match didn't have camping, tunneling or excessive slugging then its probably worth a GG. I say GG in matches where I don't escape because the match was fun. It all depends on the person I guess.

  • @toxik_survivor said:

Guys, who cares about what someone else says. If other people get under your skin because of "bad game manners" then maybe you shouldn't be playing dead by daylight. Something is "toxic" if you make it toxic. I saw a recent post that was like "I got stomped and someone said gg. bad game manners." Like how on earth is that bad game manners. Saying GG is very respectful no matter the end results. The sensitivity of people these days astonish me. It's just a video game! Ive played this game since huntress release and there is not 1 time where I was toxified (If that's a word) by someone trying to make me mad. I get frustrated if i can't catch a good survivor in a chase, but I have never gotten frusterated when someone was trying to intentionally be toxic towards me. I just don't get "game manners." You play the gameand do what you can to win, and at the end you say GG, and on to the next match. It's that simple.

I completely disagree with the notion of "saying GG is very respectful no matter the end result." I'll give you an example. The other day I was targeted by a killer specifically because I did not farm with them and my team. At the end of the match they threatened to tunnel me out of the match if they ever saw me again. Sure enough the very next match it was the same killer and survivor team. This time they played the cannibal and went after me specifically at the start of the match. They got me hooked then kept hitting me and let a survivor who was there to farm pull me off at 2nd stage so they could mori me. I didn't give them the pleasure of doing that. After the match they said in the chat, "that is what you get. toxic time!" They let me know for sure it was them and their intent from the previous match was clear. This is the very last kind of match or player I would ever say GG to and if they had said GG also it would have been anything but "very respectful." So no, you are absolutely wrong about this. A respectful match deserves a respectful GG. Nothing more or less.

Many hates that map with passion and just doesnt feel like even trying. So did he end up with 1 or 2k?

I didn't stick around after Mikaela died on hook. The killer made their point and I had seen enough. Hating the map is one thing but to put that frustration on the survivors isn't right. I personally like the RPD map. I still don't know how to navigate well but overall I like that it is very different from the other maps and a place that is nostalgic to me being an RE fan.

You didnt give information about this game. First of all RPD and pinhead not a good combination. Poor guy is just a basic M1 in a huge map.

Did you guys put this map offer? Did you guys abuse boons or boil over? If you didnt then maybe he just thought this is the best option for this map.

I don't recall the RPD offering being used or any boon totems. I was found fairly early in the match so my only guess is the killer simply didn't like the map and took it out on us. If not that then they simply camp for the sake of camping. Either way, there is no excuse for people to do this in my opinion.

  • camp.jpg camp2.jpg

This right here is why this game needs to fundamentally change. The first picture is me and after I died on hook I had the displeasure of watching it happen to another person on my team. Every time a killer does this the whole point of the game is ruined. This is not good for the game at all. I don't know what all is coming to DBD with these changes being talked about but I can only hope that it somehow makes it to where we see a lot less of this in the game.

  • Every time my flash bang is up or I want to do a head on play. I used to hide in lockers all the time when I first started playing but now I am very confrontational with killers and don't usually try to hide from them. All depends on the situation too.

  • I can't tell you how many times I've seen the wiggle and unhook bars full and yet it didn't happen. It is so frustrating.

having a bad match does not give you the right to be a douche in the chat, in fact nothing gives anyone the right to be a douche in the chat, heat of the moment or not.

If you had a bad match, don't say anything if the only thing that comes to your mind are slurs.

a little friendly taunt is ok, but anything above this should be reprehended.

Never said anything about anyone having the "right" to do anything in regards to what I was talking about. I was simply pointing out no one is perfect and people often do say things in the heat of the moment they normally wouldn't say and that I think people should consider that before getting offended over words. Its one thing if slurs are thrown around but most of the things I have seen people say is really just trash talk to each other. I understand some people may be more sensitive about this, but there is also a lot of people who aren't and can take it just as well they dish it out. In a perfect world everyone would just get along and this stuff wouldn't happen anyway. We're far from a perfect world though and DBD consists of a very diverse playerbase.

  • This is very mild compared to many of the things I have seen. For me, as long as someone doesn't cross the line and start saying things that involve self harm or making threats I generally turn the other cheek. I understand after a stressful match there can be some "heat of the moment" things said and after awhile they may feel bad for saying it. Emotions can really be stirred up after a bad match so I think its always good to consider that and realize after a moment people usually cool off and move on.

  • I'm very excited about this. Its going to be interesting to see what all changes happen and how it affects the game. If it all encourages players on both sides to play in a more sportsmanlike manner then I think it'll be good for everyone and the game. I'm really looking forward to hearing more about this.

  • Leatherface, The Cannibal and Bubba

    And also Deathslinger.

  • I tried the build before but never got in a situation where I could really test it yet but I think if you use unbreakable, no mither, flip flop and power struggle you might have just enough time to to get enough recovery progress to use the pallet if the killer has normal M1 recovery speed.

  • Sluzzy can speak their mind about the game here just like everyone else. I find it interesting you've been around for 3 years, have 15 posts and decided 1 of them would be to say something snarky to Sluzzy for simply giving their opinion about a game mechanic. You could've given a substantive response to the post they made, but you didn't.

  • This has always been my biggest complaint with NOED. More times than not in my experience the killer gets a very rewarding end game all because 1 totem was left uncleansed. Maybe if the exposed effect didn't happen if the killer is within a certain range of a hooked survivor it would be better. Often times the killer will down someone, hook them and use the hooked survivor as bait by staying nearby. If that doesn't happen, the killer will get 2-3 downs before a door is open forcing the last survivor to make a hard decision on whether to risk it all or leave everyone behind. When a single perk gives too much power I think that is when it becomes problematic.

  • Head on saves. Flash bang saves. Blast mine explosions. Seeing killers get flash banged. Head on killers after seeing them get flash banged. Head on killers followed by flash bang after seeing them get blast mined. Quick and quiet locker play followed by head on stun and flash bang after seeing the killer get blast mined.

Ok, I need to play some DBD right now. 🤩

You mean when keys could let whole teams escape with zero counterplay? That was the equivalent. Old moris fit into the horror concept that anyone can die at any time. Now they're a joke that survs use it as an excuse to tunnel through gens regardless of how a killer plays. They spend so much invested in how cool their character looks or plays some people act like they're going to die in real life because of a cinematic 3rd hook. Even this new Mori rework will be just adding the Cypress Mori to the basekit in a new environment. Unless you're playing Myers or PH, they don't have teeth.

I've been 4k'd in key teams many times both then and now. There was counter play. The moris still have teeth. The problem before was they had too much teeth and the survivors had mere sticks to fend off the lions.

  • I've talked about how I feel about moris before here on the forums. I understand how they fit in the game, but I've never liked them. My biggest complaint before was how easy it was for killers to use them before they were changed. I still see them often but at least now I'm not seeing them every match. I also think a lot of survivor mains don't like seeing their favorite survivor mori'd which is understandable. I don't either. Some survivor players actually beg for moris to which I often don't stay in those lobbies. I've been in enough troll matches to know how thats going to play out.

I've also suggested before that survivors need an "equivalent" to moris because I always felt like the killers have a unique aspect in this regard and survivors don't. I've mentioned the idea of survivors being able to kill the killers which also would go in line with the horror theme. Maybe it could only happen if the killer plays a mori and it certainly would require a team effort to do. I've also recently thought of the idea of "cinematic escapes" for survivors where when a survivor escapes through the door or hatch they get a unique cinematic play of them escaping after an interaction with the killer. So many cool ideas they could do with this.

    Yes, please. Make that list.

Every single time someone tried to make a list, claiming that survivors receive more nerfs than killers. Someone else came up with a killer list, which was 3 times longer.

But I'm sure your list will be different.

Devs have been spamming us with slowdown perks for over a year. Because they see, that something is wrong with gen times. But don't know how to fix it, without making gens even more boring to do. Ironically, despite gens being boring, they are the favorite thing for survivors, when not being chased.

Oh and on regard of the hatch getting it's first nerf after only receiving buffs. Moris were nerfed twice before that and are about to receive their final nerf.

The claim was they never nerf survivors, which isn't true. I didn't say survivors receive more nerfs than killers. I don't know if they have or haven't, but that wasn't the point.
