you didnt answer either of the 2 questions I asked. you mentioned a specific radius. I would like to know what this radius is and how one would be able to know when they have passed this threshold.

I think we can both agree whole heartedly that Hard camping is unfun and uneeded except for niche circumstances or end game. and a killer who does so is either inconsiderate or not with a good grasp of the game mechanics.

Now if we are too define proxy camping we need to define what actually counts as proxy camping. if your only going 10 feet away, i personally wouldnt consider that proxy camping but hard camping. or "medium" camping as unhooks are possible there tho unlikely without receiving a hit.

but we cant call coming back to the hook camping, that doesnt make any sense and doesnt work under other video game situations. It may colloquially be called proxy camping, but if you are in fact leaving the hook (this means not 10 feet away) and you return later that by definition isnt camping, even if we call it proxy camping. Without specifically defining it and its parameters it is a very amiguous terms that people can use and mean different things leading to communication confusion.

I find it a tad odd that you get tunneled so much that you "expect" to get tunneled as if a killer sees you and decides to pick you to take out the game all the time, I strongly dount this is the reality with you, but perhaps you are using a far more ambiguous meaning of "tunneled"(where i would then argue is a pointless term), and that yet somehow with hundreds and hundreds if not over a thousand surv games i have played, games in which anything close to tunneling does not occur in more than maybe 5?% of my games.

Did you mean to quote 2 different people in this reply because I wasn't really following in the first half of your response.

I said I go into every match expecting to be tunneled simply because its happened so much to me. When I see the killer isn't doing this to either me or someone else then my mood changes. I've really come to the point where my expectation of the killer not camping or tunneling is far less than expecting them to actually doing it. Sorry but when you've got over 2k hours as survivor in this game its not easy to go into every match with high hopes of fairness. It doesn't happen every match obviously but if I get 2-3 matches in a row of just straight up tunneling it really doesn't make me hopeful for the next few. Thats why I've tried making my own fun instead of relying on chance and circumstance to play out in my favor.

There is plenty about this game that could be "unfun" though its rather zero sum in its design.

It involves objective denial, via non participation and elimination for survivors.

It involves progression denial for killers.

So you have a setup that requires you to deny your opponents participation/progress to achieve your own objective.

There are lots of games like this and they are often table flippers for people who can't deal with disappointment or go into them with different expectations.

It always strikes me as odd when people want to play an elimination game but get really angry when eliminated, its kinda what you signed up for.

It all comes down to whats considered a fun match in the mind of each individual player. Like I said earlier, if I get a few good interactions with the killer but end up dying I had fun. Some people wrap all of the fun up in whether or not they escape or get a 4k which is the "win or else" mentality. The general consensus in my experience is that many survivor mains don't like getting camped or tunneled for any reason. It is a PvP game revolved around elimination but when you feel like you had little to no chance at avoiding being eliminated that is when it becomes a problem.

  • When you hear the words "this game isn't fun anymore" after being camped/tunneled all day and your SWF team just got smaller because of it I think its safe to say these 2 things are happening and they do make people quit this game. We can argue all day as to why these things happen and whether or not it was Ok to do it in any given circumstance, but it'll just be another endless argument. With me playing solo now I just try to make my own fun and hope the next chapter offers something interesting enough to keep playing. I go into every match pretty much expecting to be tunneled at the very least but if I can get a couple head on stuns and maybe a flash bang save before that happens then at least I was able to have a little fun before I was tunneled out.

  • I mentioned this back in January and haven't heard a single thing on it. I don't know if it was intended or a graphical bug but glad I'm not the only person that noticed this. All of her jorts are different now and the slit leather skirt sits higher on the waist too it looks like. Nearly 6 months and still waiting...

  • Hunk is a character from Resident Evil 2 who wears a similar outfit to what you posted in your OP.

  • I'm not sure how many times you have to leave a match to get up to the 1 hour mark but as others have stated its probably a good idea to just take a breather from the game for awhile. I used to focus hard on escaping but lately I've just been interested in interacting with the killer as much as I can. Yea I die more often but its more fun than just doing the same thing every match. The game can get frustrating fast given how every match is a mystery on how things will play out. I don't know if you've tried SWF but if you know other people who play DBD it can be a lot more fun that way for some people.

  • I really like the dark atmosphere of the house on Garden of Joy. I play on a 42" HD TV on the highest graphic settings and everything looks fine to me. I think scary dark places is something DBD needs more of. Its why I like dredge's nightfall ability so much. I get why some people think certain places in the game are too dark but to me it fits the theme of the game. It is a PVP game so the desire to win will always come into play but honestly I like the new potential for jump scares with dark and gloomy places. I played against a dredge on Midwich the other day and got the biggest jump scare I ever had when he popped out of a locker in one of the halls. Nightfall on that map is just horrifying and its awesome.

  • Yep. I agree with the OP and I'm a survivor main. I think people aren't really giving dredge a chance. He is so much different from all the other killers and has certainly been more fun to play against. Every time I visit the forum since the dredge released I see more complaints about him and I just don't get it. I'm usually quick to gripe about killers being OP but in this case I really like what they did with the dredge. I don't know. It seems like the devs just can't win no matter how hard they try. Maybe its just the nature of the game being PVP and there being so many different views on what is considered balanced in this game.

  • Looks like a skin for Hunk if he somehow makes it in the new Resident Evil chapter.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Sluzzy, I agree Dredge needs a nerf.. but Devour Hope? Don’t we we want more perks like it, that encourage not camping and tunneling? It won’t even activate if the killer stays too close to a hooked survivor, and you won’t get enough tokens if you keep going for the same survivor. It needs a little bit more early game protection, I would say. And that’s it.

I complained about devour hope in the past before but I will say the one good thing about it is it does discourage the killer from doing the things that survivors complain about the most in this game, at least up until it gets to the exposed power. Makes me wonder if I should actually wait awhile before cleansing those hex totems I find early in the match.

  • I have had a few bad matches against the dredge, but he's still a fun killer to play against. I haven't went against him on Lery's yet so I can't say how I feel about a match on that map. I did get the dredge on Midwich which was horrifying especially during nightfall. I loved every second of it. Let me tell ya that having the dredge burst out of a locker in front of you on Midwich will give you one hell of a jump scare. I may just be focusing more on the fact he's fun to play against rather than the advantages or disadvantages of any given match or map. Right now I think people are still figuring out how to play against this killer while the killer players are trying different builds to counter what they're seeing survivors do against them. I'm worried there will be a sudden nerf to the things that make this killer fun to play against, which just so happens to be the 2 things I find the most fun about him from the survivor perspective which is the locker teleport and nightfall.

  • I have never seen the hatch spawn in the basement before. I never even thought about looking there for it. Is this supposed to happen?

  • Do addons and offerings interfere with getting adept? For the survivors I did it on I never played any offerings or items just to be safe.

  • If you think they're opening a lot of chests now wait until the anniversary event begins. That brown medkit could be a shiny medkit! The lunar event one is my favorite because you can find fireworks. The chests mix the game up and give survivors an extra thing to do that could work in their favor. The RNG of it all is what makes it interesting. Sometimes I'll open chests half way for other survivors or come back to it after a gen is done.

  • People are playing the dredge in many different ways I've noticed. I know this killer's power may seem overwhelming at first, but its all about using it to your advantage. Keep an eye on the lockers around you and find the nearest loop. If you're working on a gen the dredge will likely teleport to the locker nearest you to which you will get a sudden audio sound and you can begin running to the loop. If the dredge attempts to control the loop run away to the nearest vault and use it to get more distance. For the nightfall mechanic its best for all the survivors to spread out and utilize familiar locations like the killer shack if the map has one. Just keep moving and it'll wear off before you know it. Try different builds even though you never know which killer it'll be because right now you're more likely to play against this killer. Perks revolved around distracting the killer might work well against this one especially if you can get the dredge to teleport away from you. I'm still figuring this killer out myself but so far I have been enjoying playing against the dredge. Hope this helps.

  • Not at all. Playing against this killer has been a blast for me even in the matches I didn't escape against him. Not knowing when and where he may jump out of a locker at you and the random nightfall ability makes every match exciting to play.

I personally wouldn't mind, I favour lethal pursuer honestly for quick chases. I don't think it's too relevant to the issue, however. Corrupt Intervention is a fix to the mapping of the game and the inability to pressure early game with most killers, dead hard is just a free extension of chase that can have gargantuan effects on the game vs any killer except maybe the two S tiers.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2991427#Comment_2991427

No matter what happens there'll be complainers. But I do think that most survivor players are reasonably enough to admit DH is a big problem.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2991375#Comment_2991375

I just thought it'd be an interesting experiment before the pass.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2991369#Comment_2991369

Not a wishlist, just an idea to see how DH impacts games. Your wishlist, however, is pretty whack.

I didn't realize dead hard had this much controversy around it until I saw people talking about it outside of the game. I had seen people here and there say something about it in post game chat but I never considered it enough that it would spark a conversation about actually nerfing it. I used dead hard for awhile but realized it wasn't a perk I wanted to use that often. I'd get a few good uses out of it but more often than not I would find myself being way off on the timing or go right into a wall or generator then get downed. I did get some good hook saves while avoiding the hook trade but I had to be spot on with the timing. I think its those moments where dead hard gives the survivor those big rewards that set people off but for me those moments were rare.

  • Why not disable dead hard for a week? So we don't get 500 posts an hour from new forum members saying where the hell is my dead hard.

  • Its the sloppy butcher update that happened recently. It applies more pressure to survivors when injured. When you have the debuff you either gotta heal to full or hide until you can heal to full. It was a pretty big game changer for killers in my opinion.

  • When I first started playing DBD self care was recommended to me by my friends. I used it for awhile but once I started unlocking more perks I replaced it with medkits and now I rely solely on my team to heal me or by chance finding a medkit on the map. Self care is one of those perks that felt like needed a build around it to be a good perk to use even though on its own its better than having no way to heal yourself. I never imagined it would become meta given how there are so many other better perks to use. I guess it all comes down to playstyle and how comfortable players feel without a constant means to heal themselves.

  • If you think the dredge is tough now wait until people start unlocking all the perks on him. I haven't found the new killer hard to play against. I've in fact found the dredge very fun to play against. I even went into the matches blind just for the surprises. Your team is a big factor on the outcome of the match and I think right now people are in the phase of figuring out how to play against and as the new killer so things will change over time.

  • I think the point of the dredge is we're not supposed to know what were looking at. Thats what makes him so terrifying! Apart from a powered up Oni this new killer has been the scariest one to play against for me. The nightfall effect was a big surprise when it first happened and I absolutely love it. I hope we see more killers like this.

  • @GoshJosh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989977#Comment_2989977

It slightly increases the Dredge’s time to exit that locker, once per trial. Unless he goes by it from the outside and breaks the lock first. There are also add-ons that have consequences for survivors who lock lockers (reveal them in yellow to Dredge, reveal their aura to him, etc.).

Oh.. and also prevents any survivor from going into that locker or unlocking it themself. 🙄

Yea I found that out the hard way about not being able to enter the lockers. Suddenly my head on build wasn't so great when I ran up to a locked locker. 😅

  • I don't even know what locking the lockers does yet. I wanted to go up against the new killer not knowing anything about them. I saw someone on my team lock the 2 killer shack lockers and had no idea how or why they did it, so I was curious how things would play out. I still don't know what all the dredge does, but I know he's super fun to play against.

  • I won't be making it. Mandy said in a previous reply this idea would never be an option within the game so I see no reason to talk about it further.

  • Couldn't agree more. The dredge has been the most fun killer to play against as survivor.

  • Yes absolutely! The dredge and the new map fit the game so well. The house on the map has some dark rooms which makes being chased by the killer even more fun. The dredge's nightfall ability is just great on any map because it turns everything dark and you can't see much of anything. I love it.

Yeah we do not need to conform to your ways. Please leave.

Neither do I want you to. I just wish we could all get along and not be divided over things that can cause division.

I mean, yes you are, and yes it is. You can't tell me there'd be a problem of pro-inclusion and anti-inclusion if all the anti-inclusion people just left lmfao.

Also I like how you respond to this one comment and none of my others. Probably because you can't, considering the web of lies has finally tightened too much and you've taken one step too far.

Its more so me not wanting another thread to get closed because we went off the rails again. You often tunnel vision your perspective while not fully considering mine. I'd rather we all be able to get along while no one needing to conform to the ways of the other. Thats actually what DBD was when I started playing.

The peaceful solution is that they all leave and suddenly we don't have to deal with bigots like yourself anymore.

I'm not a bigot and that is not a solution. That is more division and exclusion.

You constantly contradict yourself. It's like talking to a toddler that was caught lying. My IQ went below room temperature (Celsius) by just talking to you.

I've been talking about this for a long time on the forums. I know its not a popular opinion but its one I do feel strongly about in that DBD and gaming in general is filled with people from all walks of life and something like a pride charm, while possibly being a good thing for the lgbt community, can be divisive for others. Whatever the reasons may be, be them right or wrong in the eyes of the individual, the fact remains divisions are caused when things like this enter gaming. That is why I think its always good to talk about this so that one day we can hopefully find a peaceful solution to all of this.

Why would I need to quote you when I can clearly see that is what you meant? Your hatred is obvious and honestly I'm still kinda baffled how you keep going against LGBT+ community.

Thankfully where I live people of faith aren't hate filled bigots...

I never asked or suggested anything that is for representation be removed from the game for you. If I hated you, I would've said otherwise. I only ever advocate for peace between all while acknowledging our vast and diverse differences.

You're objectively right, in that it doesn't take away their right to use them. That's not the topic here. The topic is you choosing a celebratory thread on a new pride charm to ask for this.

And if you really want to break it down even further based on faith, I don't think you should be playing a game with murders, demons, ghosts, and other things that your faith would deem sinful, blasphemous, or evil.

A rainbow bird is the least of your worries.

Horror is thrilling, even for people like me.

  • @TwilightPrincess said:

If a Pride charm is what tips you over the line, just leave the game. You are free to find another game without "disgusting" LGBT+ people ruining your precious little bubble. "Person of faith", more like person of hate.

Your words not mine. Don't try to quote words as if I said those things.

  • @scenekiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989456#Comment_2989456

I wouldn't call it fair at all.

If I follow your statement of being a person of faith for a moment, these charms are not taking away your right to believe in that faith. They are not impeding you from playing the game in any way. They are certainly not forcing you to change anything.

Now, take it from another perspective: a racist person asks "why can't I have the option to hide all Claudettes/Adams/Zarinas/Haddies/etc?" Do you see how this is a slippery slope?

DBD isn't forcing you to change anything about yourself or your beliefs. But you can't hide away the existence of others who have done nothing to you.

But I also don't see having the option to disable charms, whether selectively or just all charms altogether, as taking away anything from those that want to use them. By all means use them if that is what you want to do. I don't think its an unfair opinion to say that pride charms caused division in the community.

Sigh... anyway. I'd rather continue this in a thread more revolved around the topic than here. I've wanted to talk about this, but I don't think this is the thread to do it.

  • @TwilightPrincess said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989415#Comment_2989415

No no no no, don't try to mask your hatred against LGBT+ people by being a person of faith.

I've always said I recognize the diversity within DBD's community. That we all don't think alike, live alike, believe alike, etc. My suggestion was to offer a way for there to be less division that doesn't involve people potentially leaving the game over something not everyone agrees with.

Ah ah ah, not so fast buddy:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989328#Comment_2989328

Your original statement was about making a pride charm optional. Not making all charms optional to view, and CERTAINLY not "so the inclusion of all can continue in peace."

In fact, all charms are optional, as in you don't have to ever put them on your characters or hooks. Viewing charms is NOT optional, as it's left up to whoever you're in a match with. But you already knew all this. You singled in on "making this charm optional"

You aren't fooling anyone - not even yourself.

You're right. I'm not fooling anyone. I never intend to. I think I was being very fair as to not suggest only making the pride charms optional to visibility in the game. That is why I suggested making the option for all charms visible for the individual. Isn't that fair? Anyway, I'll probably make my own thread about this at some point because this is just needless derailment.

  • I'm not sure how his remnant works but if the dredge is trying to take control of one loop then I would say just run him to the next one. How long does it take to place a remnant? Those precious seconds mean everything when you're running the killer.

  • @Satelit said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989367#Comment_2989367

Then make your own thread about this suggestion, you're weird for saying this under a post about a pride charm.

    You're absolutely right. My apologies.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989394#Comment_2989394

And why is this a problem, exactly? Like you're getting very, very close to revealing your true colours here so be careful.

What does my suggestion of optional charm visibility take from you or anyone? That is the whole point of optional. I have no option to not see pride charms in nearly every match I play. The only option I have is to not play the game and I don't want to do that because I love this game. People of faith play this game, as well as many diverse walks of life. I think the option to disable charm visibility would be inclusive for those who don't want to see them and it takes nothing away from you.

I suppose I could just not read words that are on my screen and you could also not look at colourful things that are on yours.

In all fairness coming to the forums and reading posts people make is easier to avoid than wanting to play a horror game where nearly every match you play has pride charms on all the hooks and survivors.

Because, my friend, neither of us are islands. You and I are cut from the same organic cloth swirling around in this incomprehensible cosmos that we have the miraculous coincidence of simultaneously inhabiting. Where the fearful temptation is to close the windows and doors all around us, draw shut the blinds, and be illuminated only by that humble fire that casts flickering light upon our cavern walls, we ultimately have a mutual responsibility to each other and to all those around us who also just so happen to be attempting to reconcile our various existences with the mad arithmetic of reality.

Which is to say, in a word, that empowering individuals to curate their experience to specifically cut out evidence of the existence of others in a bid for a selfish comfort around the isolated flame is probably unhealthy from a social standpoint.

Oh I know they exists. I exist too. And my suggestion wasn't to cut out evidence of the existence of others. My suggestion was to make it optional so the inclusion of all can continue in peace. The pride charms caused division in this community and its disheartening to see.

I can't think of a more destructive message to the concept of pride than introducing a selective toggle that enables users to individually hide pride-themed cosmetics from their client.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989342#Comment_2989342

My buddy and I settled on Friendwich.

Actually my idea was to give an option to disable the visibility of all charms, not just the pride ones. I think if players don't want to see them they should have this option. Why would you care if any individual had the option to disable charm visibility? You would be able to see them if you want to.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2989346#Comment_2989346

That's a whole lot of effort to implement for something that shouldn't bother you at all.

I really don't think it would be that much of a challenge honestly. I mean I don't know much about game design but this seems like it wouldn't be that hard to do to implement an option for individuals to disable charm visibility in the match for them. And why shouldn't it bother me if you don't mind me asking? Not everyone who plays DBD is the same you know.

  • Why not? What would it hurt you or anyone if there was an option in the game for the player to disable charm visibility within the match just for that person? It wouldn't effect anyone but them and everyone who wants to see them can. Seems fair to me.

  • Thats great! They should be. I think they should be optional within the matches too if players don't want to see them. But by all means for those that want to can.

  • Thank you for making this charm optional.

  • The thing is unless they blatantly admit it the intent can only be assumed and not proven. I don't doubt this is happening though. I haven't personally noticed a pattern with this yet in my matches. Any killer that goes out of their way to tunnel or camp anyone I go out of my way to give that killer a hard time the rest of the match. I've been openly critical of the addition of pride charms and David being revealed as gay but I still protect my team whether they use them or not.

1 … 20 21 22 23 24 … 42
