Personally and in my opinion, yes.
That is not how the game is or will ever be, but simply what I think myself.
I'd rather be offended by something very bad said to me than to take away that's persons freedom of speech to say it. I value freedom a lot and that's just my opinion.
Ok well then I respectfully disagree.
Having been through enough bullying in school when I was younger, I can definitely tell you that some words hit people differently. No amount of Freedom of Speech is going to make it ok for me, when I know that someone else is being subject to those words.
Which is the reason why I brought it up in the first place. Freedom of Speech doesn't mean be mean to whoever you want to be using those words.
This is a PvP game and I get that at some points either side is going to disagree with each other, it doesn't mean that the devs should just let people use whatever words they want to use.
So we can agree to disagree.

""I think someone should "
"I think"
Not what the devs actually do. That is not the same thing.
I gave my opinion.
Fair enough. You said "should".
So let me get this straight.... You think people should be able to say what they want, even using the words that are technically bannable, no matter the context.
Did I get it right?
-

I never said they could, that wasn't your original question.
Yes you did.
"I think someone should have the right to say whatever they want to me no matter how mean it is."
-

Being offended by insults is not being a 'snowflake' it's just that people think they have a right to stomp all over someone for the sake of being a piece of poop.
Trash talking is different, if you say something mean then you should face the consequences. Not the person you're attacking and if you think "oh my behaviour is ok because this guy is a snowflake" then why bother saying anything at all because it's only your actions which lead to the 'snowflake' being affected.
Correct.
That's why I said this alone won't stop the behavior. People will find other means to be "mean" if that's what their goal.

"If words are just words to you, then why do you have such a big issue with a profanity filter in a conversation?"
Those are not synonymous.
Not minding what people say to me and preventing someone from being able to say what they what are two very different things.
"There certain words that will get you a ban for using them."
I'm not saying that there aren't. The question wasn't what BHVR's rules are. The question was asking "why not also block certain words from being used?". You were asking the community a question looking for an opinionated answer.
"How does this affect you?"
Just because I may not choose to use cuss words doesn't mean I personally think they should be blocked. I believe in freedom of speech. I think someone should have the right to say whatever they want to me no matter how mean it is.
Well the fact that there are words than actually can ban you tells you that they can't just say what they feel like.

"And yet oddly enough the very forums we are currently communicating on have all kinds of rules on what kind of behavior is allowed. Why do you suppose that is?"
Never said that they didn't. Just because they do, doesn't mean it's a good decision. It was just simply their decision to make.
"Because rules for communication are required for civil discourse to exist."
No, we did not say "rules for communication". What was referred to was blocking words. Those are very different things.
"Insults and swear words offer no benefit to anyone and only lead to hate and anger."
This is just simply not true whatsoever and even if they did, free speech is much more important than someone getting angered by the words you used.
If words are just words to you, then why do you have such a big issue with a profanity filter in a conversation?
There are certain words that will get you a ban for using them, if the other party reports you. I'm simply saying block those specific words. How does this directly affect you?

Let me travel back in time and wish I hadn't read it. jk :)
This isn't about blocking the entire chat, it's about post match chat etiquette. I don't think asking for a select number of words that shouldn't be used is going to affect anyone but the person who often uses it.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
A better question is "why doesn't BHVR give players the option to disable post game chat?"
I am on board with this. I mean, I personally don't see what post chat is for... I've hardly ever seen anyone actually say "gg". Even when I play fair as killer I get the "ggez" , so it's just like what is it for? lol
-
@Blueberry said:
Because people need to stop being snowflakes and thicken their skin. It's just words. We don't need language policing. People should be able to say whatever they want to say.
What are you even going on about.
How exactly does the limiting of certain words which should never be used affect your ability to say what you want to say? This isn't the first time a game has censored certain words.
-
I just have one question for the people who keep bringing up the "This is an Asymetrical game"...
Do ALL Asymetrical games follow the same rules? Because I consider Friday the 13th an Asymetrical game as well, and in that game you always know where Jason is, you also have weapons to fight back...both of which according to some in these forums lose the whole "horror-asymetrical" aspect, which I disagree with.
Playing solo survivor is a nightmare as it is, not because it's fun or because it's a "horror" experience... and the very least they could do if they aren't going to add things like chase indicators is buff perks like Kindred. Add optional voice chat for the lobby sessions, I wanna know what my team is bringing without having to type it all. Those two alone would help tremendously.
This isn't just a horror game, it's also a survival game.

Actually the killers were good, you just have to know how to take hits for someone being carried
Oh, I think I misread, you meant 4-5 times not in the same match.
-

I actually got Mettle to activate 4-5 times here, you don't need to throw the game to use the perk, you just gotta go and help the team from falling to the hands of the killer
4-5 times??? Lmao ok.
Must have been a very boosted killer.
Honestly OP has a point. This concept sounds good on paper but in real time, you would have to play pretty altruistic and doing that sometimes means you’re not focusing on the objective. Which means 2 people are on gens (objective) while you’re over there trying to play hero.
Also a good killer will probably switch targets making you go down instead of his original target.
-
It’s not that hard to gain xp and I feel that it gives people something to look forward to while leveling... which is a whole lot better than playing matches without much of a reward.
-
As someone who plays Myers and actually feels like he has to earn his expose. No.

Both instances it's due to survivor mistake..aside from the collision
@immortalls96 Huh?
Backrubbing a wounded survivor is not a survivor mistake? Idk what you mean by survivor mistake.
-
2 Things that I firmly believe take 0 skill with her.
- Backrubbing and hitting wounded survivors while in phase mode. You can clearly pinpoint their location, even though you can't see them, it's almost as if you could.
- Standing accross the pallet "mindgaming" waiting for a survivor to move to a spot that grants her a free hit.

Less jokingly, I'm a Doctor main and Blendettes are in big trouble unless they bring Calm Spirit.
Haha, yeah I’ve seen Claudettes start with me and Urban Ivasion to a gen, they notice it’s a doctor and immediately they start running like it’s their kryptonite. ?

@Desolate_Sands Hmm.
But how would this help if say there is a gen being worked on, and then the survivor just hides?
I’d need another survivor to go down first.
-
Stop hating on survivors who stay behind because maybe they wanna make sure someone makes it out.
Im so tired of people wanting to pigeonhole every survivor at the gate by claiming they are being “toxic” because you have an instance where they were tbaggin.
-
I think while you have a point, fun doesn’t necessarily mean “winning” for some people.
You can die as a survivor and still have fun, and you can lose as a killer and still have fun. Some builds are not “fun”... whether survivor or killer.
Everyone is allowed to feel that something isn’t fun. Just because they may point it out to you doesn’t mean you should stop doing whatever you’re doing.
Sometimes things just happen that make a match unfun. For example someone dcing at the start of the much, I don’t care how much you love Thana/Ruin/DyingLight that match is probably going to be boring.
-
Almost 3,000 hours in this game and I wouldn’t say I get stressful moments, more like some kind of an adrenaline.
Even so, if this game is stressing you out. Perhaps asymmetrical games aren’t for you.
-
This is why I want voice as a feature in this game.
I need some kind of insurance the lobby is not filled with little trolls just trying to farm and mess around.

I'm running PGTW on Freddy just fine in Red Ranks.
Buuuut.. that does not mean other killers, especially mid to low tier killers doesn't need it.
Gens go by so so fast in Red Ranks there needs to be stopgap for it. And Ruin is the bandaid for that problem.
This.
Idk. It works for me... yeah sometimes the spawn location of the totem is bad, but when it's good it does the job. I run Whispers too, so I'll occasionally walk by with Whispers to check on it, but generally I feel that people just think the hex is suppose to last all match. lol
Key point is if it doesn't work for you, doesn't mean it's not working for someone else.
-
-
I will accept a camping Bubba 🤓, the others I’m like .... Who are you???? 😒
-
They aren’t terrible but the fact that you have to stop and use it is.
They need to allow survivor to be able to use them while running.

A good survivor team will still win against a good killer with a mori (Nurse & Spirit excluded).
I mean no disrespect but I don’t care which side You’re on, Ebony Moris are Overpowered and not only are they OP but they require little to no skill to use.
You can literally tunnel off hook and get your mori. With ANY killer.
I understand survivors have tools that are strong as well, but it doesn’t make this offering any less OP.
-
I use Ruin depending on the killer and the rest of my perks/add ons.
I mean Myers for example, and if I don’t have add ons that allow me to stalk faster than normal, I’ll throw on Ruin. He is very slow at the start to it buys me some time, and also helps me find survivors to stalk because they will most likely look for Ruin and I’ll stand only bump into them. 😂
-
@DaddyJeff said:
I feel, that if a perk or special item is required to have a fighting chance to win, there is something fundamentally wrong. I feel that we should not HAVE to use ruin at high ranks to even have a fighting chance of winning. It's almost REQUIRED to play. I play both sides, and I still feel that generators go too fast. Now, I'm not sure what to change because if we make the gens slower it'll be boring for survivors, but something should be done.
There is something fundamentally wrong when only certain killers have mobility and are strong in chases.
The Forever Freddy build is a good example of this. Imagine if they slowed down gens even more, they would have to scrap/nerf a lot of the perks that already slow down the game. Or it would be too much.
Obviously if they gave everyone a teleport it would be boring. They need to give killers with limited mobility more variation to their powers and allow them to have options during a chase (Clown) , and also buff the ones who have mobility but do poorly during a chase (Legion).
You may think that gen times are bad but there are matches where the killer literally pressured enough that maybe one gen got done. Much of this has to do with player skill level... on both sides.
-
Welcome to DBD where T Bags are apparently an insult and exhaustion hatchets are considered toxic.
Seriously though, they probably weren’t even playing serious. When they T Bag, you have a choice stoop to their level or just play like normal and get your points.
I have t bagged before because someone was being tunneled to death and it got the attention of that killer.

Because the devs want to take away every advantage killers could possibly have. Down to the finest detail and mechanic.
@danielmaster87 Or they did not, and made it fair by not allowing a killer to simply grab while jumping through it. While you can find it first and close it.
-
Half the time I’m running away from survivors than the killer. 😱

@justarandy I was just getting ready to say this.
People are clueless sometimes. Lol
-
To me I feel like he hit the nail right on the head when he explains how her weakness is really not really a 'weakness' when she has more queues to track an exact location of a survivor, while a survivor (even the good ones) are forced to just guess because there are no legitimate queues of her next move.
Which is why I don't think they need to necessarily "nerf" her, I just think there she needs to have additional queues allowing the survivor the opportunity for a fair mindgame.
Let's be honest it feels damn good when she misses, because of how powerful she is, but many of these are luck and playing like a bot. Basically forcing the survivor to leave the most safe spot you could be at. lol
-
She is creepy as hell and I love it!
-
Lol What?
As much as I hate Prayer Beads, outside of that I think she is probably the most original scary killer in DBD.
-
This is probably the best she has looked, so I disagree.
-
-
Maybe they immediately ran over to it because it was the nearest hook and that if they went down they would have a chance to wiggle? Idk.
It’s hard to say. It’s no different than a 3 gen strat when a killer is trying to prevent a specific gen to pop. Non intentional but still screws over the survivor.
You still ended up with your points, so 🤔

@Mr_K Oh hi. 😉
-
K.
-
He shouldn’t have.
They need to not “fix” what isn’t broken. Period.
-
They should have left the way his stealth works tbh.
I main Myers and I can understand the disappointment. Michael Myers is probably one of the most balanced killers because many of the things he is good at, he has to work for or has a downside.
Grabbing people off gens felt good as a killer, and terrifying as a survivor. It wasn’t a “mind game” or a “gamble” it was him at his slowest state and took survivors not looking behind them to get it to work.
While only survivors who have certain perks will affect him, I don’t see how this is necessary at all because as I said he already has a downside.
I just don’t understand this notion from the devs of wanting to make stealth more “linear” when A. he was fine as he was. B. He has less stealth than the Pig and Ghostface because he can’t crouch AND he is way tall.
Michael’s stealth isn’t about “Let me hide behind this barrel”.... He is quiet and makes himself known by standing still. I just hope they stop stripping away these elements of what gives these killers identity and also makes them feel more unique.

"object of obsession is broken"
The thread was just thinking that their inability to see stealth killers with it meant the perk was broken. But I've seen a few more and I'm scared it's gonna become an actual trend
"stealth killers are broken..."
(can't remeber the thread name) was basicly saying stealth killers are too easy to play and are bad for the game etc
@Seltas0208 Lol Wraith is nowhere near being OP... and absolutely no one said that.
The OP in that thread was making a point that the ability to see a survivor’s aura when the survivor has OoO is unfair due to how stealth works now. That’s it.
