I've had someone unhook right after I hooked them hit the other they had bt and the unhooker ran at me so I took them out and took a DS for it. Now both BT and DS was use offensively
The unhooker loses his DS the moment they unhook. It is no longer possible to do that.

Man, I have way less than 6,000 hours and I can not count how many times I've seen old DS being used offensively. Survivors would beeline straight to a gen knowing that they had 60 seconds of immunity to progress their objective. Or they could harass with a flashlight/bodyblock for someone else in a chase/add some scratch marks to lead a killer away from a survivor they're chasing, then loud pop in and out of a locker for the remaining 40 seconds of their DS. They could do all that knowing that the worst thing that can happen to them is they get slugged (and if they have unbreakable too, then they'll also only spend however many seconds slugged), while the upside is that they waste a bunch of the killer's time, which is the killer's most important resource. Those are all examples of a survivor using DS offensively without the killer coming back to the hook. They can still do some of those things, but at least the gen/totem/healing stuff now deactivates DS, so it's generally used more defensively than offensively now
Not sure if you were following the context in which I asked the other member. I didn’t mean old DS, I meant new DS. A survivor cannot touch a gen unless they want their DS to stay active.
As for the other examples, I don’t see how someone flashlight clicking trying to get your attention means you have to pay attention to them. At that point it is obvious that they have DS and they are just trying to get downed by you, so you can lose focus of the other survivor. This is like beginner killer 101.
I’ll gladly down them, and continue to chase the other survivor. That is 2 survivors not on a gen. So that strat doesn’t work on good killers. They are trying to get a situation in which DS CAN work. Also, depending on how I am paced as killer I will sometimes take the DS stun just because I would rather deal with it then, than later when a gate is open or when they are forced to trade and no longer have it.
My point was that DS has to follow step 1/2/3 , you cannot bring DS and expect to get to step 3 while skipping steps 1/2, unless it is a very situational scenario.
-
I don’t blame them, but at the same time after going up against that same build on every single Blight, I think people have a right to not like it… same could be said about other killer builds. This while winning against that build.
There is a reason this is now known as the basic ***** build.
-
New players will always suffer from Camping situations because they don’t have DS or BT to help alleviate some of the aggro you get from it.
They either have to purchase Laurie level her up or level up Bill. Which seems really wrong IMO.

I don’t know how anyone who has played this game for any length of time is going to call perks like dead hard and decisive strike situational. DS was so universally strong it was used offensively more than defensively until the nerf, and it’s still used offensively often.
BT can still be used to body block offensively and can be unable to be punished because of DS on top of it. Unbreakable is still the most consistent game changer in DBD. Going from 3+ slugs back to 0 pressure because of 1 perk is more powerful than anything the killer can muster.
And it’s not just the one streamer, it’s literally like all of them? Otz, Scott, Monto, etc etc the list goes on. Play killer into enough red rank meta SWFs and you should come to the same conclusion independently.
It’s very easy for a good survivor team to slam 3 gens in 2 minutes, and what if you are playing a killer who relies on survivor mistakes…and they don’t really make any? Now survivors are finishing 40-60% of their objectives and you did 8% of yours. And you think that’s sustainable in any way shape or form for a killer who is attempting to win?
Give me an example of when DS was used “offensively” where it did not involve the killer coming back to the hook. I have been a red rank survivor/killer with over 6000 hours for a long time and I have not seen anyone use current DS for any other reason other than the killer camped/tunneled OR it was a situation (again) where the hook was next to the gate being opened.
No one is denying it’s strength pre-nerf, but that is not what we are talking about.
I usually take what streamers say with a grain of salt because at the end of the day, they are no better than someone who has thousands of hours who just happens to be a regular player with an opinion. Nothing against them.
I’m not sure what you mean by that last part. Like, if anything I would say RNG does more than perks sometimes because I’ve seen atrocious set ups and extremely strong set ups where perks like DS and BT meant nothing. I.E. someone gave you BT but you didn’t need it because you found a god loop, or someone gave you BT they waited it out only for you to go down in a dead zone with no pallets.

You do realize it’s literally impossible to do 12 hooks on any non top tier killer if the survivors are not bots? Every big streamer for this game also says that.
I think the best example is watching true talent get friggin slapped trying to play nice against a tournament team.
I wanna see you go into skill based matchmaking and win some games against top tier survivors as like clown while being a basic bih killer who just downs survivors, hooks them, and then walks away to another chase all the way across the map.
I literally bet money you won’t win.
Right. Same can be said about matches that do not have any of those perks. Survivors do not stand a chance of the killer decides to go from “Let me to patrol gens” to “Let me throw and get 4-5 hooks and camp because I am bad” … even then survivors need those perks to be able to get a decent win. It has nothing to do with the perks changing the game for THEM when they are reacting to a sudden change of playstyle.
My response was basically to your notion that they can be game changers when they are extremely situational.
As for the streamer reference, I am not going to trash talk on here, but let’s just say I wouldn’t place my bets on him.

I think it’s easy to agree that survivor perks are significantly more game changing than killer ones. Ruin Undying? Hard countered so easily by so many things.
NOED? Killer has probably already lost the game by then. I can’t really think of anything else that’s a huge game changer for killer. Maybe tinkerer but that’s only as good as it is if ruin is up.
There’s nothing as close as impactful as perks like DS/BT/DH/Unbreakable/etc that’s for sure
Killers trying to kill rush get slapped by every survivor perk in the book but survivors can rush the gens penalty free just about
Those survivor perks can be countered without the need to bring a perk.
DS? It only affects you if you are a proxy camper or Tunneler of both.
BT? Same as above. Even when in a situation where both camping and tunneling were “warranted”, you can still wait it out and slug. To which brings me to the following perk.
UB? VERY situational. I think all these perks are very rng dependent simply because they rely on the playstyle of that specific player. Otherwise you will not see their effects as much.
so I don’t really think they are that much game changing than say the playstyle of a killer.
-
I’d be fine with that.
Make a couple of MPs per chapter. Very unique looking maps and the game would feel fresh.
-
This game isn’t optimized for harsh dc systems like that.
-
My favorite is where players think ANYTHING, I mean anything… means you are “salty”.
Ive actually complemented people on their builds, but because of the nature of this game, their immediate response is “salty much?” Like, no I wasn’t pointing out your perks in a negative way. 🙄

@Firellius and @meatisadelicacy you two even commented in this thread but either forgot or didn't read the complete thread like most people.
And meatisadelicacy, i am still waiting for an answer for my question to you in that thread 😉 (But I guess you preferred to ignore it, goes to show when someone has no real arguemtn to make)
Yeah thanks for bringing my comment into a completely different thread where you don’t even bring up the context in which that comment was brought up.
If he had an issue with what I said then he could just comment in THAT same thread (which he already did). Instead of creating a whole new thread where you bring up my name when I haven’t even participated in it.
I stand by what I said. That thread was about quick switching in a lobby.
I said what I said.
Stop trying to give context to someone’s post by bringing up other people’s comments from a different thread.

Now imagine that but without anybody else taking aggro. 😭

Because killers have right to complain when they can’t adjust their build. Survivors who last second switch to a key deserve to get tunneled to death.
Deserve to get tunneled to death? Do you know how many survivors get tunneled to death in this game without a key in play?
Stop acting like quick switching is game breaking.

Yeah it is cringe when people cry over quick switching.
Something that is allowed and well within the game’s rules.

Well takes me like 20seconds so, beats a swf key game.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2443869#Comment_2443869
Oh because hard countering killers seems like a fair thing to do. No. If keys wasnt broken it wouldn't be an issue would it. Even the devs have said the killers are meant to adjust their build to what they see bot the other way around.
When keys get the nerf like the moris it wont be an issue.
Because everyone who quick-switches brings a key. 🙄
I've never heard or read a dev saying that, and I don't usually take someone's word for it. Matter of fact, I do not care because my stance is still the same. If you cry about quick-switching (something which is allowed) then we should do the same about allowing us to see who the killer we're facing is. End of story.

It's a 100% valid complaint
Why? Because some don’t like it?
I’ll complain about it, when the game allows us to see who the killer is we’re facing, so we can properly prepare too.
-
I’d be more scared of someone running it with POP and someone who actually patrols gens, rather than if someone is just camping.
-
Of all things to complain about imagine it being this one.
-
I’d love that actually.
Cybil player here.

”a billion lives…”
Are you sure they weren’t hacking?
-
This post is so confusing.
-
Yep remove another map so that we can play on the same maps over and over. 🙄
I’ve won on this map, is it perfect? No. Could it use a rework? Yes.
We are lacking in the map department as it is, I don’t think removing something should even be in the cards.
-
I hope she joins eventually, just like I hope Sidney Prescott joins too.
-
I agree. VERY close to the source material in terms of Aesthetic, Voiceover, Powers and Lore.
I actually quite enjoyed both playing as and against him. The thing I like about him too is that he doesn't feel like a cookie-cutter character. There are lots of things happening while one survivor is being chased. Something that I personally believe is a problem with other killers.
Even though I don't know much about him, seeing him in DBD peeked my interest into researching him. I can definitely say someone did their homework and it gives me hope that more killers will be introduced with unique mechanics like he was.
-
I can tell you right now, if this game didn't have any licensed characters, I wouldn't be half as interested.
-
I wouldn’t camp. I would stalk the other survivors and try to go for a snowball. Meaning T3, down, slug, go for the next person I see going for the hook, etc.
I guess is the answer depends on what you want. Do you want more hooks/kills or do you want at least 1 “secure” kill.
Everyone understands that once all the gens are finished camping is like the only thing that is expected, because there is nothing else to pressure.
In your case the fact that the gates were far, I would have taken advantage of that and tried to snowball.
-
Players *arguing over which side the map sides with*
Killers *Looking at each other wondering when players will realize maps don’t affect every killer the same way*

One of those things we will probably never know, but I agree with @Orion I don't think they expected this.

And I’m case you missed when DS was nerfed and these forums were lit with celebration was that super cringe since it ruined the fun for some?
DS is still in the game, isn't it?
And since I didn't think that DS was a problem for when I play killer, yes it was pretty cringe.

And guess what that’s fine if you wanna celebrate it. Everyone can choose to celebrate or hate something that happens in this game. I like Midwich guess what if it’s removed you can celebrate that map being removed that’s fine. Forums are here to talk about things.
It's clear you've made that choice.

@WishIcouldmain said:

Except Hillbilly is balanced and suffers little balance issues. Hawkins has a plethora of balance issues
Again. If things were reversed and it was something YOU liked, I'm sure celebrating about it wouldn't necessarily make you jump for joy. It doesn't have to be Hillbilly, just used him as an example because it seems like you like him.
There are many things in this game that are not balanced, doesn't mean the flat out removal of those things is the better option. BHVR would never remove something because of "balance" issues, they would re-work it first. Which we know isn't what is happening because the map will no longer be a part of DBD. The game already suffers from not having enough maps, so it was nice to have something different to spawn in while in map rotation.
You can dislike something that is within your own right, just seems a little cringe when you celebrate about the removal of what made the game more fun for other people.
-
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others feel the same way.
So I think it's kind of weird how it's a moment to "celebrate". Imagine if they further nerfed Hillbilly, I'm sure you would think those people celebrating seem cringe too, no?
-
I don’t think this affects anything that was attached to said characters. I.E. add ons.
Because technically to use them you have to own demo, no one outside of that can.
-
Unfortunately I think it’s out of their hands at this point. 🙁
Hawkings was one of my favorite maps.
-
I agree.
She is the epitome of what it means to be a survivor. That said, I would think Xenomorph would HAVE to come with the chapter. He is just too cool not to. :D
-
Haha that's too funny xD
-
Very Happy!
Jill Valentine was my #1 choice for a survivor and we got that. Nemesis looks the part and IMO is not as weak as some claim he is.
As a bonus Chris is there as well.
I know the map situation may be annoying, and they could have split the map between indoor/outdoor which would have been cool to see, because there is no map that has half indoor/outdoor.

It just seems like confirmation bias to me. People wanted it so much that they made the evidence fit their theory, even if it didn't quite work in reality.
I totally understand it - it's something I've absolutely been guilty of in the past. Although the constant FNaF spam is definitely annoying.
I agree. For me I saw two types:
Type 1 : “It could be FnaF based on the letters”
Tye 2: “It’s FnaF there is no way it’s not!” *moves on from using evidence A to evidence B once it no longer fits*
Type 2 make Type 1’s look like they are desperate. I think they want it so much that they are riddled with conspiracy.
-
It needs an overhaul just like some of the other useless offerings. Like the ones that put you together with your team, even tho it happens more often than not.

@IronKnight55 said:
That's not killing your teammates... the person sitting on hatch should've went to the gate. The killer should've pushed the survivors out of the gate instead of being afraid that he might get t-bagged and get his feelings hurt.
Sometimes you find yourself in situations where hatch is the only choice.
Which sounds to me like that is what happened. The survivors at the exit gate did have a choice though, and they chose to be selfish.

Yes, let's just ALWAYS make a us vs them thread and never talk about the topic at hand, ######### terrible if that was to happen
Who is making it about us vs them?
I play killer too and I understand how it’s annoying and yet I don’t find the perk unbalanced.
I am responding to the notion of “deserving” when the whole concept of a PERK is to give you that Perk aka. An extra advantage in specific said situations.
That isn’t exactly US vs Them. It’s just common sense.
Exhaustion perks do not need the game to condition them based on a specific killers’ power that’s why some of them are stronger against specific killers and others against other killers. Annoying does not translate to “unbalanced”.
-
hmm I don’t know, maybe they don’t “deserve” it much like killers don’t “deserve” kills when they camp or tunnel but they are still part of the game that it’s still consider a strat. Much like pressing E on a PERK that by definition gives you a little bit of an advantage on specific situations much like the one you describe?
Oh, what do I know. They should just make a perk where you can freeze a survivor then maybe that might make you happy?
-
Idk why but honestly I don’t know anything about the franchise. The mere fact that there is a segment within the group of people often asking for this character border-lining “desperate”… just kind of turns me off. Me, who doesn’t even know the character! 😆
Im usually open minded about this stuff. Like, I would love to be more loud about Chucky (as an example) he is one of my all time favorite horror franchise killers, and there are some threads about him, is often brought up making him one of the most requested characters for DBD, but not in the manner that this character is. Which i just find interesting, but also off putting at times. Especially on Twitter.

Funny thing:
OP also has a video on his Youtube-Channel were all Survivors are either slugged or hooked after 2 minutes of playtime with Blight. I dont see a Thread about this, but completing one Gen with 3 BNPs in 20 seconds is a huge issue, but winning the game in 2 minutes is alright.
Usually that is how it goes. Lol
Yesterday my friends and I played against this sweaty Nurse, who had Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer… slugged at 5 gens because she wasn’t half bad. We somehow ended up needing 2 more gens before we all died.
Yet in end chat has the audacity to say she could have killed us perkless. Lmao
As in she thought she didn’t sweat, but we “did”.

They definitely should, so we can finally have the Titanic as a survivor and an iceberg as a killer.
It's DBD, anything is possible 😂
-
Do the devs look at movie reviews to decide which franchise they want to bring into the game?
-
That’s it everybody! Everyone update your PCs and console systems (yes even if you just bought it) for no reason other than the only game you play that crashes you is ruining people’s experience, while you’re receiving unfair penalties!
Yep According to some that is the solution to the problem. There is no way this perfectly optimized polished game could be the cause of your issues.
🙄
