  • I play however I want to play. If I know the who the killer is, I call it out. If I know where their hex is, I call it out. Most of the time we're more or less trying to guess what perks they have based on our own experience. Since all of us play killer equally as well.

The game has come very far from the early days when totem spawns and knowing who the killer is. Nowadays and because of the array of perks available, it's more about what the killer has in terms of build loadouts IMO.

Only recently after their 1 year anniversary. They’ve gotten so little love I feel like someone has to play them

I play them consistently here and there. My friends keep telling me I am a Twins main because everytime I play killer I almost always choose them first. lol

  • @Phasmamain said:

For survivor I main Jeff and Jane. I like Jeff because I relate to him and Jane because she’s cute

For killer I main clown and now twins. Clown because he’s the best killer in the game and twins because she’s been neglected

You main Twins O.O but I thought they went extinct. 😀

I could have told them their uselessness if they weren't working lmao, was so sad laurie was a console player, couldn't tell her

Yep, this is why I have never understood the whole "SoloQ sucks because they dont have comms like SWF"

It's more like "SoloQ sucks because they aren't reliable players like SWF".

  • Do you think they would have done better if they had had comms for you to remind them that in order to be efficient you have to do gens? :( (( 😂

Because according to some people they lack comms so they are not as efficient.

PS. The Quentin chipmunk sound is everything. xD

Correct. As I have mentioned before I only play solo so 99n gate tends to butt ######### #########. Noed? Nope don't see totem right here so bye. Solo's have to have a different mindset in EGC than a SWF. Swf can make miracles happen and 4E but solo's don't have that same info so they end of gifting the killer 1-3 more kills instead. Noed? Every solo should leave if totem in not near them.

Usually even if I am playing solo, I am still looking for the totem. I pretty much know totem spawn locations in most maps, so I at least try to do that, so hopefully others can go for the save.

BW can activate anytime after the gates are opened. And dang I would've been so mad at that one teammate for not having the gate ready to open.

Yeah I meant , there is a point where the timer meter reaches when you cannot get out if it activates then. No matter what.

This is why many killers slug to let that timer get low. I believe it is half way through the mark, but I don’t use this often so I’m more ballparking it.

  • @chargernick85 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/297792/can-99ing-the-gate-backfire

Yes. I have got so many downs/kills at gate because they had to stop and open it first. I have also died more than a few times by the same way. You shouldn't need 2-4 minutes (whatever it is) to rescue/escape. I always open gate as survivor and seems to work in our favor. 99'n the gate is a bullshit mechanic just like tapping gens to stop regression.

I would say it depends on the killer and if survivors are injured.

If someone is hooked in basement against a Hag, and everyone is injured. You are going to have to heal people first and then safely get them out by coordinating who saves etc.

That’s also not counting situations where NoEd has to be cleansed first.

So unless someone is trading you will not get everyone out even if the gates are open.

  • Yes,

I’ve had matches where there was no time to heal, so we unhooked, but one of the other teammates 99’d and was nowhere to be found so because we had to spend that extra second one of us went down.

Another risky situation about 99ing the gates is also when they are very far from the last hooked survivor. Because many times you have to take an extra hit for them in order for them to make it. So if everyone is injured from taking hits no one can afford to spend time opening. This is also problematic if the killer has faster recovery (STBFL)

Blood Warden isn’t really an issue unless the timer is already I believe half way through or below (someone can correct me if I’m wrong). Because if it is, there is no time for anyone to get out before they are killed by the entity. So more than preventing BW, survivors are just trying to buy extra time to heal etc.

  • Lol ngl I don't watch him, but I thought the same thing at first.

  • @Unicorn said:

And again, whenever the Dev's release perks to attempt to break META they are complained about.

Had a Killer call me a META rat last night for running COH, Leader, BT & Small Game. I guaranteed if I ran DS, UB, DH & SC I'd get the same response.

    You can never win/satisfy everybody.

    Preach.

Listen, I had a game as killer where this Kate (who I suspected had BT, DS, UB, and the like) only had Breakout, BT, Windows of Opportunity, Spine Chill ran me for some time. I initially just assumed she had a full on meta, but she was just good at running me and using her perks to her advantage. I can be annoyed that I got out-ran, but I can't be mad at her for using perks and other non-meta perks at that.

I think many of the perks that are coming out (like that new boon perk) are extremely situational at best. So they are mostly only potent in a very specific scenario.

  • Yep, been there done that.

What's worse is when the killer suspects you don't have it (you didn't use it on first hook), be prepared to be tunneled out of the game.

But why is that segment of the community so loud? Sure a lot of those people don't really have useful feedback to work with, but the fact that they are so loud and upset about these things is a big indicator that something is wrong and shouldn't be disregarded.

From the ones I have seen, I would say inexperience and overall lack of knowledge of the game.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2670757#Comment_2670757

No...I definitely think that a lot of killer complaints are justified right now.

It never feels nice to be on the sharp end of a double standard, and the sheer speed and power of the nerfs applies to killers/addons when compared to stuff like CoH are pretty overwhelming.

There is a common impression that killers are being balanced around newer survivors, which is going to grate on more experienced players who feel stuck in a narrow, stale meta.

And that's before we get into map balance and the plethora of killer bugs that will likely never be fixed (silent gens, silent survivors, busted addons etc.).

Sure, the majority isn't always right.

But it isn't always wrong either. And when a huge chunk of your veteran playerbase are telling you something, it's usually an indication that something has gone badly wrong.

What I am saying though is that there is a segment that always seems to speak louder to the point that it is hard to hear and even take the rest of the posts serious.

Many people I have talked to when I tell them that I frequent the forums, you know what their immediate response is? Why are you doing that to yourself?”

Because (even if some of it might be justified) there are a lot of people here who just look forward to complain no matter in what form. What’s worse is you have someone express a different opinion and they are made feel unwelcome.

A lot of the things that are often mentioned here on killer side being “too weak or too strong” I just chuckle because I experience something different.

I love this game and I play both sides and I’ve had to learn both sides to ultimately justify AND modify my opinions. So when I think someone wants to talk about DS being used right at an exit gate to “free” escape, I completely understand the cheesing behind it. However, I also look at the cheesing behind camping that might have been involved with that player and how it is available at the beginning of every match. (As examples) So even if the last hook was a more warranted “camping”. The mechanic doesn’t know that.

On the veteran playerbase, yes I agree. But guess what? The forums’ veteran playerbase is only a segment of the playerbase in it’s entirety, because those same veteran players you speak of have an opinion about the forums and their outrageous opinions, and it doesn’t exactly match up with theirs.

  • The negativity (especially on these forums) has gotten to the point where a segment of the community are just louder. Doesn’t mean they are right or have any substance.

For me the “I quit this game” Threads are so useless and I just mostly skip them because they have become a meme at this point. As an example.

Its also kind of hard to express feedback on the killer side when this place is riddled with individuals who will constantly shut you down and mock you simply for having a different opinion or experience than them (It’s always the same people of you look at the names).

  • Did you expect any less from these forums? Lol

I’ve given up expressing gratitude and liking towards something publicly because others think it’s an invitation to ask their opinion. Especially when it is relating to survivor-sided things.

search on youtube, "the VHS developer Q&A special". 3:34

I think what he is saying is that to them it is still within the horror genre. Just not the gruesome/bloody kind.

Art-wise I think it looks like a fun game but in some parts the “fortnite clean look” from what I have watched really lacks atmosphere.

  • @BattleCast said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2667405#Comment_2667405

Simply wrong, VHS intentionally dialed back on the horror elements to make it more accessible to a broader audience. It's the same thing Fortnite did.

Where did you get that from, because as far as I am concerned In an interview they said they were inspired by 80s horror and slashers. Which was a more campy/fun horror during its time.

Personally I am not a fan of the “fortnite” low-poly approach when it comes to the aesthetic, but being an 80s kid, I am willing to give it a try.

  • I have about 325,000 iridescent shards that I have not touched because I keep saving them like they are collectibles. Lmao

dbd players are dropping cause of the strong killer nerfs, we will see if bhvr will really get scared or not.

    Where are they dropping?

As of the last 30 days on steam alone it has peaked at about 82,000 players.

  • I’m excited for the dlc! I am a sucker for a new map.

Also excited for the killer/survivor and the Hispanic representation they bring to the game. 🙏

  • Predictions?

Despite there being some good changes. More people complaining (b word) about anything and everything.

  • You obviously weren’t here back before the gen speed changes, old BNP and old prove Thyself.

  • If camping was dealt with in a manner where killers could still do it but not excessively and where playstyles werent so “cheesed out” I think Bubba would be fine IMO.

As for his add ons, I don’t find them to be an issue tbh, because he is fairly ok to loop, and it comes down to positioning on both parts.

  • I have not seen any indication that the devs are in any way shape or form “scared” of VHS.

If anything they have been supportive of another game joining the genre. (See Mandy’s comment)

  • Nope. Because every single time I go in with a positive mindset that my team will actually do anything I am let down big time.

Yesterday I spent my evening doing only soloQ. Out of all my matches (about 15) we managed to complete gens twice.

Like, I can’t even tell you. The worst feeling in this game is when you feel accomplished for running the killer (especially the ones who know what they are doing) only to go down and see nobody doing anything. Either running around OR crouching. Then the worst part is you assume they have to be lower grade. Only to find out they are not.

This is exactly why when people say “we need to buff solo” I have to chuckle because in my mind I am thinking by what giving them a second brain?

The highlight of my night was a Hillbilly who downed two of them at the same time at the start of the match. Comes to me next, run him for what seemed like an eternity, while they all reset. Still, no gens fixed, they bothered to run away and heal only to go down seconds later.

I really think people should start recording their matches in solo because they are unbelievably some of them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/296931/you-cant-increase-gen-speeds-or-fix-gen-rushing-without-also-fixing-camping-and-tunneling-vice-vers

Your trying to address 2 different things that don't even correlate.

Gen speeds are a core issue while camping and tunneling is a playstyle.

Camping and Tunneling should take a team effort to prevent but the community is more focused on the 1v1 and not the 1v4.

Gen speeds aren't the problem. The problem essentially lies in.

    1. Survivors not having enough obj prior to gens

    2. Map sizes

    3. Poor killers designs

How are generator speeds a core issue when killers have already been given tools to slow them down?

Camping and Tunneling are core playstyles because they are present AT ALL TIMES. Meaning that the only thing standing between the playstyle and the killer is their choice to do so. Many killers who Tunnel and Camp don't do it simply for the reasons you've listed. Some do it because they don't want to bother learning their abilities, just the same playstyle that comes easy to them.

If they slow generators down anymore, they are only buying MORE time for those killers who rely heavily on camping and tunneling.

  • Agreed through and through.

Imagine the worst possible slow down build on a Camping killer and gens at a slower speed than they are now. I don’t know how anyone would think that is fair.

  • They need newer mechanics because otherwise the gameplay feels stale.

Not just in the killer power but how they interact with survivors via the maps. I think it might already be too late for that though considering how many pallet related perks there are etc.

You literally can't remember what you said one post ago, this is quite remarkable.

@GrayEyes i'm gonna leave this one for you mate cause I don't think this guy can handle 2 at once

Waited - then gone around the pallet.

Do you know what the meaning of baiting out is? It doesn't mean "swinging" it means making THEM think you are going to swing. That can be done by waiting and getting close enough or faking your M2. Geez

That's not the question I asked. I didn't ask what you would do this in this situation, I asked how could the Doctor have baited out the Dead Hard in this scenario.

Hint: the answer is, he couldn't.

and I just gave you the answer to how he could. He used his M1 weapon instead of simply waiting until the Claudette dashed.

He is also a doctor, additionally he could also use his Shock Therapy to prevent her from further vaulting, if he had waited.

You keep arguing that we should bait it out. If you truly had your head around the whole "dead hard for distance" situation, you would know that it isn't possible.

Here is a quick video, can you explain to me how the Doctor could have "baited" out the DH from the Claud?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgU9poxAogY

Yeah, and if I was that doctor at 0:5 seconds I would have not A) swung my weapon B) already made my way to the other side of the pallet.

Bro you spent 2 pages arguing it could be baited then when I point out your wrong you wanna move on to a new topic

    I can't with you

Yeah you can't with me because you are insisting I said that DH cannot be used for distance.

I simply asked "Where did I say that?"

I never said it can't, I simply said in it's current form it is balanced when you consider the fact that it CAN be baited out, not every section inside a map consists of tiles. There are actually sections where other exhaustion perks would be more optiomal. Thus making DH not a viable perk in those situations which (again) are common in every match.

But, I don't wanna keep you. Where did I say I haven't seen it used for distance? Where?

Are you sure you know how to bait DH out? Do you see how stupid this question sounds?

This is the stuff that I keep saying you guys keep doing. Stop with the trying to mock someone over what you think you know about them.

No it wasn't a "baby David", it is survivors not being able to read a killer. You know that is actually possible for a survivor to just be good with timing DH and not fall into killer mind-games, right?

  • @JPA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2663415#Comment_2663415

The dodge is like what, 1-2 metres? So you can use it at any loop which has a straight edge of longer than that, right?

Which I think would make it work at pretty much any sized tile in the game

It doesn't work in short sized loops if the killer positions themselves accordingly. Many times I have mind-tricked survivors into thinking I am running a certain way, change my position at the last second and they usually end up running into a wall or overshoot their DH where I am inside the pallet and they cannot throw it down.

Also, If the killer has bloodlust and is a ranged killer no amount of DH will help that survivor out.

Earlier in this thread you claimed that the common argument against DH was "You cannot bait it out in a specific loop"

I'm just trying to imagine spending 6K hours on DBD, and still not knowing what DH for distance is

Yes I did, but it isn't like anyone who has DH slotted has the ability to use it for distance at ANY given loop.

I said the advantage comes from it being a perk, and being there at the right place and at the right time. Something that is not mentioned amongst you, because apparently variables only count when the killer has instead the advantage to use perks that they utilize where they get downs and kills they wouldn't have otherwise gotten.

    "Hi, bloodlust!"

Look friend, it's not a sin to have no idea what you are talking about, ignorance isn't an evil thing it's just a lack of experience on your part and I don't judge you for it. That being said you really are flat out wrong, that's not an opinion it's a statement of fact. Also to my ever lasting shame I have over 5000 hours on this game, over 3000 of them on killer so do refrain from calling me inexperienced as it just makes you come across as a fool.

I don't need someone who can't deal with Dead Hard to show me how to play the game. I have managed to deal with it on my own, and thankfully I don't need to come onto the forums to complain about it.

You can say I am wrong until the cows come home. The reason you think you are right is because unlike others in this very thread, I form my own opinion and don't fall into the trap of using the same tired scenario to prove my point.

I have 6.1k hours in this game. What does your time spent in this game have to do with anything? Are you trying to prove a point? LOL

    Untitled-1.png

Funny how I have more hours than you, but you are the one taking offense because by your own "principles" anyone with less hours ought to refrain from calling you inexperienced. Kind of ironic when you think about it.
