I had a spicy post game from some survivors that were injured basement hook rushing me while I was playing Hag. Downed one next to basement, hooked her there, trapped one spot in the basement and then the middle of the shack and window and within two minutes had three on hooks in the basement because they kept rushing to the rescue. Or the people that sit and try to vault/drop a pallet after being shocked by Doc....

It's the deranking killers that's screwing up the matchmaking for everyone. I'm a green rank survivor and I've gone up against prestiged killers and strong killers, both with learned perks and rare add-ons, and majority of them are no higher than rank 15. I'm not sure if the algorithm the game uses sees it as "well since they're good, we'll match all lower ranks with more skilled survivors, or if the devs changed something to make it a mixed bag of matchmaking. Either way, it's not good or fair to anyone just starting out with the game.
A lot of killers get fed up with reaching rank 12 and going against a wall of red rank Survivors so they take a break from the game or switch to Survivor for a while and after a couple rank resets they're back down to a level where they'll hopefully be up against at least green rank Survivors.
Prime example of the current killer situation. This was last month at rank reset and the reason many killers stop playing for a while and then come back after a couple months so they don't have to deal with this kind of game at least for a little while.

I had one game so far in my 500 hours where a Survivor gave me a pity kill and I gladly took it because I had been trying to farm for a Huntress challenge and she was the only one that let me farm with her while the others were super Lazer focused on doing gens then tbagging/flashlighting in the exit gate
-
Match making is all kinds of messed up lately, I have a screen somewhere of me as rank 13 Meyers against a solid rank 1 team. To learn killers I'd recommend playing some KYF matches with people, your friends can start by going easy in you until you begin to fully understand various killer powers then play more intense against you until you can go full on against them. With how match making currently is I've gotten a lot better after months being stuck in green ranks I've made it up to high purples against the walls of red rank teams.

Hag thinks this map is a playground too

really? wow, I saw peanits or another mod saying its a bug and shouldnt have happened. Im so confused now. Why did other got auric cells or shards then?
The big may have been people getting 100,000 since that's what the first post I saw about it was.

Gross a Kate main... I kid though, that's awesome for ya. I'm working on filling all of Nea's skins and perks myself since she's my Survivor main. I love Kate's Tome skin as well with the flowers and sweater.
-
I love the map because it's neither Killer nor Survivor sided. Some maps due to size, loops, number of pallet spawns, etc. are incredibly one sided but the new one plays against both sides unless using detection perks, powers, items. Hag makes amazing use of the new map because almost anywhere you put a trap you'll have it triggered but legion is awful on it because of how narrow many sections are making it easier for survivors to juke and interrupt your power. Doc is a little bit in-between, you can find Survivors fairly easily but navigating to them once they scream becomes difficult. Hook spacing becomes a slight issue much like Hawkins where if you down someone behind the wrong wall or among certain obstacles the Survivor will be much more likely to wiggle out. On the Survivor side there are a lot of points to hide, many safe/large loops, and gens are spaced out far enough that you can finish a gen on one floor while the killer is still trying to find their way up. Sabotage makes it so your teammate will almost always escape because of the hook spacing and walls to navigate. This map, while large and mazelike provides so many chances for both sides to succeed but also gives both sides huge opportunities to fail.
-
Mine would be a bare bones mode, killers are only m1 and nobody can bring in perks, items or add-ons. Make a game mode with no crutches for either side.

Yeah same thing gen rushing is frustrating but not toxic.
Hitting hooked survivors is a bit toxic just like t-bagging, but the really toxic thing in this game is evil messages after the game. I don't care that much what people do to me in the game but the trashtalk is just too much sometimes.
Exactly this, there's annoying in game things like hitting on hooks, t bagging after stuns, clicky clicky obnoxiousness, but what is really truly toxic is post game trash talking. Survivors can even be "toxic" to each other in match by sandbagging, unhook spamming, hook farming, and running around dropping every pallet, yet so few people will even bring up those actions in discussions about toxicity.

Then go RUSH and spam BPS! 40mins left!!!
I suggest nurse with BBQ, Distressing, Thrill and Beast of Prey + the two bad addons to remove blink lunge and decrease max blink distance to get increased deviousness points. Just hook everybody once, ez max Hunter and Deviousness times 3. GO FOR IT!
I got up to a million in two days using Hag with setting speed and teleport distance add-ons using BBQ, Corrupt, Unrelenting, and Monitor

My top 6 (no particular order) are:
Hag
Nea
Plague
Ace
Feng
Clown

I hate terrifier so much. I think it is one of the worst movies ever made. If the devs add Art, I really hope his mori is not, (you know) the upside down kill. The movie to me seems like torture porn.
It's totally 110% torture porn, the character is terrifying and interesting to me but I agree the movie is pretty bad lol.
-
Coming from a hybrid player, DS and pop are both fine. I wish DS had some restrictions, like if another Survivor is hooked it deactivates, but overall it's not that bad. I'd argue adrenaline is worse, nothing like closing down on a chase going to hit but "boom sprint burst and full health state" or two on the ground one is picked up to hook and as you go to pick up the other "boom sprint burst and Unbreakable effects combined."
Don't get me wrong, any second chance perk on its own is fine but they all synergize too well with each other, which is ultimately the issue, much like all the killer gen slow downs synergized too well with each other (now the only two that really do are overcharge and pop) DS by itself isn't really the problem, the problem is: Slug to avoid DS, survivor picks up with Unbreakable or Survivor with DS has borrowed and unhooks in your face which is now a wasted hit no matter which Survivor you go for.
As far as pop goes from the Survivor side, it's an inconvenience at best. From the killer side pop is very situational and most killers won't stop a chase to pop a gen unless it's already almost done.
-
Art the clown would be fun but we do already have The Clown. The Xenomorph and Jason would be #1 for me. For original chapters I think something of a creature from the black lagoon or a scarecrow type killer would be awesome. Or a killer that transforms like a werewolf or something similar. Someone mentioned a spider woman like a Jorōgumo.
-
I'd love to select two at a time to ease some of the grindy ones. Like, finish the match with no totems and cleanse 20 totems or escape using X perk along with get 20 gold emblems. That way you're making some kind of progress every match, even if you fail a master challenge you can still make progress on a grindy challenge.
-
I farmed it because I got dedicated (grab animation starts but they run away and it registers as a hit instead) four times in the previous match. Got lucky and found a group of Survivors that weren't sweaty try hards after two more games of trying to initiate farming and went along with it taking turns stunning me at pallets and letting me hook them after stalking/one shotting as Ghostface. They were even gonna kill them selves through EGC (three blocked the door so the fourth couldn't run out) but I smacked them to leave.
-
I took a break when Deathslinger came out and got back into it with the new Tome because I like the cosmetics, different objectives, and lore additions but after a few weeks I'm already just burnt out on killer. My first match or two of the night are usually okay but as I play more the match making gets worse and worse and the teams I go up against start to bully and flame more and it's just exhausting. I have more fun farming tome challenges that they built that are damn near impossible *cough* grab off if gens with discordance *cough* than I do actually trying as killer, and even then many survs just take it way too seriously. A lot of the QoL changes being made are fantastic but they do have a long way to go to make both sides fun and not one "relaxed mode" and the other a chore.

On the contrary, I'd just like to be able to see the killer's name (I'm pc), so that I can avoid toxic ass ppl instead of get them again and have another ######### match.
I like seeing Survivor names for the same reason. So I know if I need to dodge a toxic lobby that's gonna annoy me all game then flame in the post game chat. It also gives a clue if they're swf or not, everyone with names from a TV show or a group of TTV Survivors or (like last time I played swf) everyone having "drunk" in our names.... It lets me know if I should say "hell no" and leave or if I'm feeling like dealing with it
-
All of us green rank killers are playing against solid red Survivors 90% of the matches. Not sure if it's platform/region/swf/some other issue but that's where your 9-13 killers are at.
-
Almost 400 hours and I've only p3-50 the doctor. I still have Deathslinger, Demogorgon, and Freddy to get to lvl 40 and Steve, Nancy, Quentin, Jeff, Zarina, and Ace left to get to lvl 40 all while getting every perk in Nea because imo after getting doc to p3-50 and doing one prestige on a couple other killers and Survivors prestige is pointless
-
Like others have said, Jane is but there's definitely room for more and I would love to see even more diversity in the game.
-
It took me five attempts of being an absolute potato to finally get it. Some of the killer ones I've been farming just because of RNG BS like grab Survivors off of gens with Discordance or grab from a locker while using Iron Maiden (these especially since dedicated servers make interrupting even more difficult)

Once I find a really good perk it's hard to shed. Dead Hard is the best worst perk ever, and also hard to shake. I now always bring Kindred and Iron Will, the rest I play around with.
As for killer, I always bring Nurse's Calling and the rest are random.
I almost always bring BBQ, but that's cause I'm working on getting all the Survivor teachables while getting all perks on Nea, and it's the best way to get a boat load of BPs. When I'm playing Hag and Doc I don't even use the tracking part of it because their powers give me enough info to begin with. Really the only time the tracking part of BBQ is really useful for me is when there's only two left and it tells me where to find the Blendette or if I need to stay near the hook lol
-
I'd prefer they just leave, when im getting stomped like that I open the gate for them and then they just mess around. I'd rather they just GTFO so I can move on to the next match
-
I play killer because sometimes it's fun. I know how you feel though, I'm at rank 10 atm and have never been higher than 8. It's been like this for me for the last 6 months or so though so I hardly ever look at the rank of the Survivors, just observe the fact that they almost always use the meta like their life depends on it and if they don't win they and their whole family will be murdered.

lol, after reading this thread I was starting to freak out cause not a single person was countering 360s like I do until this post. All this no lunge and step back stuff confused me cause I really thought my method was the normal one. But yeah, like JHondo, I just lunge and if they move towards any direction, I spin the mouse hard in that direction. The arch of the hit detection cone moving will cover a huge area that way. Not sure how to do it on console though; maybe that's why a lot of people had different advice.
I'm using a controller on PC cause I'm weird like that lol, and it works similarly to just slamming the mouse by just slamming the joystick in the direction they move while lunging. If I miss it is what it is, buys them a whole extra two seconds since I also run Unrelenting a lot

I’ll be honest - this is more of a matchmaking issue. you shouldn’t have to go against high ranks as a green rank killer. BUT - it is because they’re high ranks that they are running meta perks.
A rank 1 killer WILL make you use DS (no DS - you’re tunneled twice, dead on hook, easy 3 v 1 for him), Unbreakable (no UB - you get slugged for the last survivor, then either bleed out or get moried, OR the killer will have your entire team slugged at 5 gens and UB could have helped, either way - much time wasted), and Borrowed Time (no BT - killer will slug unhooker, down unhooked. OR just camp and tunnel the unhooked, get ez sacrifice).
Dead Hard is whatever, I use it in every build, but you get dedicated way more than it actually works. Not an OP perk.
I play more killer than survivor, and IMO survivor meta is what it is because high rank killers made it that way. Sorry matchmaking sucks. I’m sure 3 green rank survivors would have less meta builds.
I agree and disagree. I play Survivor with friends who don't use the meta, I don't use it in high ranks even solo and unless I am tunneled I do really well without it. At this point green rank killers are red rank. In almost a year of playing this game I have never gotten higher than rank 8 killer and this is how about 70% of my matches for rank and about 90% of my matches for survivor builds go. I'm so used to this matchmaking that I don't even look at the numbers on that side of the screen lol
-
I play in a controller on PC and what I do for jukes/360s is do a turning lunge. I'll start a lunge then turn the same direction they do as the attack happens. It's mostly effective but sometimes they'll quickly turn the other direction from me and I miss.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/156669/a-genuine-question-about-the-meta
I’ve been anti meta since day one and experience a lot of success. Never once have I blamed a loss on not equipping DS, BT, or Dead Hard.
My current survivor build is Botany Knowledge, Leader, Bond, Open Handed so that I always get reliable information and be a quick healer, and be quickly healed. It’s lead to more escaped matches than deaths.
I'm very anti meta in my survivor build, the only meta I ever being is BT during swf, if I'm solo que it's Lithe, Kindred, Urban, and Self Care since I prefer to play sneaky and don't trust other to bring the killers attention to me. For killer apparently now Monitor and Abuse is meta but the only meta imo killer perk I bring is BBQ for those sweet sweet bloodpoints.
-
To be fair it does go both ways. I had a game as Survivor where I got hit then the lag hit and I was suddenly a few yards behind the killer and they lost the chase so I was able to escape. Also had it where Survivors have "dead harded" multiple times in a row because of the rubber banding from lag. Also been hit when I made it to a pallet but suddenly teleported back six feet to the other side of the corner I just rounded. IMO, it's not that big of a deal since I'm playing for fun and don't really care if I win or not, usually get a good laugh from these kind of glitches and move on.
-
As a Survivor player it's almost any killer and Sloppy (bonus annoyance points for pairing with thana or nurse's or both) and also specifically Huntress and huntress lullaby
As a killer player it's DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, and spine chill (bonus annoyance when it's those four appearing in some combo on the majority of a team every trial)
-
When I play Survivor I'm only really "greedy" with the important pallets otherwise I usually try to bait the hit for BPs cause I'm playing for fun/BPs not to really try hard. When I'm killer I don't respect pallets and end up eating quite a few because I can usually get a hit in exchange and they end up wasting a pallet.

People let’s be civilized here both sides will always complain about each other. I play on both sides equally and honesty both have crazy people.
I agree, the amount of stupid coming from both sides in this thread is insane. Long story short, killers don't like the survivor meta, survivors are pissy that a few maps got shrunk, and both sides think the other is super easy when they should be playing both to improve their skills and gain more perspective.
-
I put a little piece of masking tape on the center of my screen as a base point to work off of since there's no crosshair then I experimented with the lob by throwing a few at various distances to start to get a feel for it. Then it's just hoping survivors stand still long enough or run in a straight line to get the hit.

NOED: for every totem that is left on the map when the exit gates are powered, you gain a stack. Once NOED is active, all remaining totems will be lit up. Every time you hit someone, you lose a stack and one of the totems automatically snaps. NOED can still be a comeback perk, but it won't be as game changing or oppressive.
This is probably the best idea for a noed fix I've seen. Gives a reason for killers to keep using it but makes it more fair to the survivors. That way if they didn't do any totems they're punished but if they just missed one or two the killer can't completely 2nd chance in the endgame
-
I just farmed it, I use iron maiden on Doc anyway so they know there's no hiding from my AOE shock but once a survivor knows you're running it they won't touch a locker unless they don't care. I downed a survivor and smacked a locker until she wiggled off and jumped in then I carried her to an almost completed gen and walked away to farm some deviousness points from the other survivors.
-
Pressure they're just trolling with having those up on the screen for that picture.

I guess you missed the part where I said if you miss a skill check or get interrupted then you don't have enough time. You can't do anything in Madness 3, so it wouldn't matter if the Deep Wounds timer is paused. You have to Mend after you Snap Out regardless, so they are still spending time to do both actions. Only now he doesn't get a free BT counter. There is nothing fair about the way it is now. It's just stupid.
As for the slugging, that's also not fair he gets free slugs. Doc has been buffed to high hell, he doesn't need this anymore. No other killer gets free slugs like this. You seriously can't defend this when Doc has SOOO much already in his toolkit that make him a strong killer now.
And for Calm Spirit I was thinking more like gens or totems, not vaults/pallets. Shocks could still work for pallets/vaults, but it doesn't make sense it would interrupt you on a gen or totem if you don't scream. No other scream effect works that way.
If you're getting hit by his power enough that any of this is an issue then you're countering him wrong. I play both K and S and when I play killer I do consider myself a doc main. The best thing to do is get distance, don't try to sit and hide in the terror radius or initiate a chase with him since he has the capacity to cut them very short. When facing doc, get distance and avoid the 3 gen. It's similar to facing a lot of killers imo, like tier 3 Meyers (get the hell away from him), Oni with his power activated (get the hell away from him and heal) I'm not saying that that is the only way to effectively counter his power because he like all other killers can be juked, 360'd, and mindgamed but it is in my opinion the most effective way to avoid the madness from reaching 3.
-
I kinda want to become a clown main since he's a real underdog but I already dual main Doc and Hag and I'm not a content creator lol
-
Literally just now happened to me as wraith. Hope they fix it soon but it's a bug that only negatively affects killers so it won't be a Doc and DS fix where it's good to go in a couple days.
-
My Doc build is in my opinion evil. I run
Corrupt: to slow down the early game
Whispers: find them when they hide
Iron Maiden: so they know they're not safe hiding from my blast
BBQ: for BP and aide in finding, especially when I have to slug towards the end
And for add-ons I use Calm and Discipline together
-
Personally I wouldn't based on the killer but rather based on my fellow survivors I will dodge. If there's multiple flashlights and bright clothes I'm nopeing the hell out of there because I've had so many matches where I die at end game on first hook because of reckless plays from clickyclicky teabagging neon Megs and Neas.
-
I just have the level three "get five gold unbroken emblems" left to do and have made it to tier 52 so far. None of the killer ones are toxic to me this time around except the by your hand kill the obsession one that's geared towards the rancor perk but can be done with a Mori. They took some of them from last time, bumped up the numbers, and made it so you don't have to complete it in a single trial, eleventh hour, so you can grind through them with regular play instead of having to play toxic. Otherwise they're mostly just using the killers power. A few of the survivor ones were incredibly difficult for me but with enough mild grinding I've managed to do all of them. Level 4 seems like it's gonna be really grindy to me seeing all the "get x amount of x color emblem" that have appeared in the other levels so far. To answer the op though ,yes and no, some aspects are more grindy (emblem, unhook, and sacrifice challenges) but others have been made easier (looking at you lore challenges).
-
They removed collision with survivors while phasing so she can't tell where you are by running into you.
-
I play both sides almost equally nowadays so for me I try not to let it get to me and look for crazy moves or techniques that are well executed but if I'm getting bullied a lot I'll just moonwalk around or spin in circles so they can't have their fun using my hag or doc as a punching bag. If it's a particularly awful trial I just go to the basement and go afk and get a snack or a drink to get away and calm down and hopefully they'll have their objective done and leave cause they can't bully the killer anymore.
-
For me it's when one of the survivors I play regularly is the last standing and haven't been a toxic pos all match. Or when they make awesome plays I wasn't expecting. So it's usually Janes that I let escape cause they surprise me in chases and whatnot with Head On and I have a soft spot for Ms. Romero and haven't encountered many toxic Janes
-
It's happened to me a couple times, working in a gen, killer DC's or looses connection and it shows that I DC as well and get hit with the penalty

Focus on gens and altruism. Those don't take all that much skill so they're probably the easiest to go for
Any build suggestions? I'm currently running Kindred for info, BT for the saves, Urban Evasion for sneaking, and for the fourth I bring in Head On, Lithe, or Dead Hard depending on how I'm feeling.
