Another that helps is if you're up against doctor the snap out of it skill checks count as great towards the challenge. I got that one done in one match where I finished one gen and healed one survivor and was sure I didn't have it cause I only counted four greats in the repair/healing ones but snapped out of it and managed to get the challenge.

Any one else have this fly over their head? I had a sort of feeling he was black, facial structure and all. But I figured the fired black skin was cause...Well He was fried black. But yeah. Never even put much thought into it until the short and I was like. Oh yeah. That is a thing. Just like Joey of Legion fame, it isn't a big deal. Just a neato never notice before. Any one got the low key on Wraith by the way? I always imagined black.
Speaking of the neato never noticed that before, I finally saw that David has a rose tattoo behind his ear after probably 80 it so hours of playing as him when I play survivor lol

that actually brings me to another question. are Pallets fixed on the game maps? or do they spawn randomly?
because seemingly some people knows exactly where they are at all times.
they dont appear to me to be random, which i think they should be. at least it would make it harder for survivors to do these annoying loops. when ive been chasing a guy for 3 minutes straight (which is stupid of me to do but i get annoyed) then i tend to camp him till he dies.
They randomly spawn in the same set locations. In one game there will be a pallet on the end of a jungle gym but the next game on the same map there won't be one there. There's just a pattern of where they may appear, also it's easier to spot with the third person camera on survivor than it is on the narrow first person killer camera.
-
I've noticed a slight increase in it. I play close to 50/50 and view playing against NOED in a similar way I view DS. I've only really noticed an increase of NOED on Billy and Leatherface so if I'm playing them I make it a point to cleanse everything. It's like when playing killer if I see I have an obsession and I'm not running an obsession perk I assume that all four brought DS and adjust my play style accordingly. All that being said though I don't really play to survive unless I'm doing challenges that require it, otherwise it's just for fun.
-
I played a match recently where I had a survivor on my shoulder got stunned by head on, then immediately stunned by pallet followed by another immediate head on stun then a down and a DS stun because I couldn't tell who I was hitting. Playing as Legion on Ormond rank 12. Managed to slug them all but one at exit but three escaped with one kill. These kind of squads exist and I face them fairly regularly on PC Midwest United States. Before this last rank reset I didn't have a match as killer without facing at least two red ranks while I was still rank 10. But with the exception of strong Loopers who are just that skilled there's no such thing as a single OP survivor.
-
I agree, these challenges need to go. The "do this thing and escape" is hard as hell for me since I'm a barely better than potato survivor and I only have six keys over four survivors that I can use to attempt the escape so since I probably won't manage it in those attempts I'll have grind like crazy in bloodwebs or have to brave the rng with ace in the hole or plunderers to try to get a key and escape. I only got the no mither one cause the clown went after the teabagging flashlighting Claudette in the match and let me pick my self up three times before the gate was open lol

I'm on console too. I don't know too much about the killer side of things as I usually play survivor. i know that we only had 2 games in about 1 1/2 hours the other day though. they were fairly quick games. wait time has definitely increased since before the penalties. if you dc as a survivor you also can't play killer right? or is that wrong?
I guess time will tell.
If you have a penalty you can't queue up for anything. Had a match yesterday where the killer and I were booted while he was in the hook animation and I was working on a gen and I couldn't queue up for either again for the five minutes

In the PTB vile purge didn't reduce your movement speed while it was fully charged. Players would immediately charge vile and just hold it while patrolling gens.
This was immediately patched out, reducing the plagues MS while holding vile purge to 110% from 115%.
now again. Is this an exploit fix? Or a nerf? And why?
If it was only on PTB and never made it live then it's neither. Look at how Doc's rework in the PTB made it so he couldn't attack for almost the entire duration a survivor couldn't vault or drop but when it went live they reduced his shock cool down. It's not a nerf or fixing an exploit if it never went live as something in the PTB is something that is technically still being worked on like a beta test.
-
Was anyone hooked beforehand? Because if someone was unhooked he could have been playing overcautious of the DS meta, which is to slug. That being said there's no excuse for their comments, just butthurt. When I have crappy matches I don't say anything, just leave the post game cause it's not worth it.
-
@Megaris said:
I'll stop slugging only when no one uses DS.
This right here! The DS meta is what has made slugging a new killer meta. I see an obsession I assume everyone has DS so after first hook you're staying in the ground for a while
-
I disagree that it's meta now, if anything I'd say corrupt is becoming the new meta for killers that want a stronger early game. NOED is and always has been a crutch or used as the lynchpin of an endgame build. All that being said though it's far from toxic, there's even a whole sub objective for survivors that awards a lot of BP to prevent it.

@Mooks said:
it‘s really funny to see people defending those so called ‚strategies‘ like slugging, camping or tunneling bc they are in the game and therefore okay. The devs implemented them this way after all!
but don’t you dare work on gens (genrushing) use toolboxes, flashlights, DS, BT, Unbreakable etc bc that’s no fun for killer. Devs, plz nerf!
it almost seems like there IS a killer‘a rulebook for survivors.
(and yeah there are moments were slugging is okay or tolerated and most survivors don’t complain then, but you have to admit that it can be abused, no?)
There's a huge difference between using a designed game mechanic to provide an advantage that may seem cheap to some people but is once again a designed game mechanic and straight up abusing perks and synergies between them. Slugging wouldn't be becoming a killer meta strategy if every other survivor didn't bring the DS, BT, Unbreakable, insert preferred exhaustion perk meta. Also, many of us "killer mains" aren't asking for nerfs to the ground, we're asking for conditions that make it so these perks don't synergize so strongly together, much like the devs did with Ruin and all the regression perks that made it stronger.
-
How often are these two perks actually used? From my own experience DS appears in ~90% of my killer matches and is equipped by on average two of those survivors. While playing survivor I've only encountered NOED twice in the last three months. I play on PC about 60/40 killer/survivor and generally stay around rank 10 in both. If NOED is really that much of an issue I really want to know the numbers cause I must just be super lucky as a survivor and super unlucky as killer.
-
I started as a swf main but started playing killer a lot more when my buddy and I had a falling out so old Doc was the first killer I got really good at then I picked up most of the others and the three I play most are Doc, Hag, and Legion but I will play a variety to keep it fresh, just switch to doc or hag when I want a better chance to get that 4k

I get that isn't fun. That is why they are looking at changing the way toolboxes work and such. I didn't claim it is fun. But when survivors complain that it's no fun to have a killer slug everyone because it's no fun they get told it's part of the game and just move on to the next match. The same thing applies here. It's part of the game.
I blame the slugging meta on the current DS meta since slugging is really the only counter to DS which is used by a very large number of survivors. As far as the difference goes, DCing in game affects 4 people for that whole trial whereas dodging a lobby because you recognize a toxic player's username or you're up against two toolboxes and two flashlights, or four blendettes, or any other indication that a game is gonna be a waste of time/abusive/toxic you're only adding a few seconds to the survivors wait while a new killer is added to the lobby.

@ACEvHEARTS said:
Maybe an option to vote to cancel the match? Would have to be unanimous from both sides, and can only be called once within a 15 second window of the DC or something. Otherwise people would just call a vote when they start losing.
I played a game with a similar option for multiplayer matches a while back but I can't remember what it was now. If you had a 4 man team and 3 voted to end it would but if it was 50/50 the match went on.

Yea, he’s locked behind real money. I check the shrine weekly, hoping for it to appear, but I’m not spending money until the Devs fix matchmaking and make the game more fair to the lesser tier killers.
I so want those extra blood points.
Every now and then it appears in the shrine, that's how I got BBQ since I don't own Bubba. Just check once a week to see if it's there to unlock for shards.
-
It would all depend on the map for me. If it was on an actually balanced map I'd say my killer but if it was on Lampkin, Azarov's, Rotten Fields, Badham, or Mother's Dwelling probably my survivor. I main Hag and Doctor and those maps usually make chases difficult or teleporting ineffective for me.
-
@ohheyitsbobcat said:
Azarov's is balanced? I think it's the most, potentially only killer sided map in DBD.
On topic, I think I would win a majority of matches against my survivor self mainly because in my mind, average teammates can be pretty awful even at red. So if I ended up leading myself around a bit, I'd end up abandoning myself, killing everyone else and leaving me for last or until I'm in a worse spot. If I escape, it'll probably be from hatch. I would certainly win some games against my killer self but there is so much that goes into determining that and if my teammates are what I normally play with, then I lose more matches then I win as survivor.
I suck on Azarov's as killer, I just barely get 2k if that when I play there lol. Everyone is different, what's good for some can be bad for others. It's too long for my hag to be effective and the only way to do well for me there is hope for the 3 gen on one end or the other
-
When I play survivor I solo queue so I usually run with Kindred for info, Urban Evasion for immersion, Alert for more info to go with immersion, and some kind of exhaustion perk, usually Lithe or Sprint Burst. I like to play immersed and focus on totems and gens but need some way to get distance towards the start of chases. The current tome also got me using Head On every now and then as well but for me that one is really situational

Survivors dc husks?
If you DC you can't join a new match until the one you DC'd from ends because it essentially keeps you in the match?
-
I use it all the time for the BP and then towards the endgame the aura helps me prevent a hatch or put pressure on the gates.
-
When I as killer bring BPS I want to farm, I want to chase and get as many points for myself and the survs as I can but so many times they'll just rush through their objective and play immersed and just make it all not worth it.
-
I've been stuck hovering around rank 10 for a couple months now. I get to rank 11 and then just yo-yo back and forth to 10 because I'll have a couple matches against equal skill then bam, all reds for the next 10 trials. With Survivor I don't play the role often but when I do I just steadily climb in ranks unless I'm getting bored and just mess around or make constant mistakes (and I only survive like 1/15 trials normally)

Part of why I enjoy watching Otz's videos is because he tries different and unconventional builds. Yes like anyone on YouTube he does use clickbaity titles but in his videos he compliments smart plays and doesn't really let ######### get to him when games aren't going great. The problem with this specific video is people are using it to push such and such agenda based on the title of the video when in actuality there's so many things to unpack on both sides its not a great representation of the biggest frustrations from survivors or killers. It's also one match of who-the-hell knows how many he played that day. In some of his videos he even states he won't put a match up on YouTube if players DC or its not a great match. There was one where he was playing a slugging plague build and said in the video that he lost so many matches with that build before doing well and that he'd most likely upload that video where he was doing amazing. It's all about spinning a narrative and putting your best public image forward.
-
Had a round the other day where I started kinda crappy but then obliterated them as Hag and said "gg, you guys had me sweating" and was greeted with a "go f yourself" but then I had a round as survivor where it was a newer killer or someone learning Nurse (rank 17 only two perks, one green one yellow and both green add-ons) and the entire team, all in green and yellow ranks, said gg and gave encouraging words. Guess what rank the salty survivor reply was? Yep, red.

The killer also knows where the totem is
To be fair if it gets activated it hardly near the killer nor do they have time to pressure it. I personally never run it because it's not useful. Yes it allows me to get maybe one kill at the end of a ######### match but I'd still have to camp to do it. NOED is pointless and is just a means to fall back on when you're new to the game.

Uhm do you not know??? Omg u don’t play the game!!! Like dude everyone knoooooows bro. That’s why op didn’t even mention it. It’s probably the most well known build hell THING in all the dbd universe or actually gaming as a whole! Sorry sir but hand over your stanky leg privilege because you don’t deserve it.
I don't know what this common freddy build is either because he's one of the killers I don't have yet and at Green ranks for survivor it seems like nobody plays as him (I haven't faced a Freddy in a couple months). The most common killers I come across when playing Survivor in green ranks are Huntress and Trapper with the occasional Legion, Pig, Meyers, or Ghostface
-
I use BBQ on most of my killers for the BP gain, not the tracking. I see the tracking as a bonus for when I've only got two survivors left, otherwise it's just to farm those sweet sweet blood points.

@DrunkenXSMonkey8456 said:
To be completely honest. Most of you are moaning about the meta. Remember when people use to think self care was op? Or when brand new part was op or insta heals. Well guess what. All extremely medioca perks and items now. BT isn't that bad. Just don't be a tunneling ######### or use your abilities to your advantage or simply chase the rescuer instead of the hooked survivor. Ds. Just take the hit and stop bitching or simply do what I said for BT, chase the rescuer. Dead hard requires skil to use, too early. You dead, too late. You dead. And it barely gives you any distance. Most of these perks have counter. Your just bitchin bout the cause they counter the way you play as killer.
The only survivor "second chance perk" I have an issue with is DS because the meta is now to use it as 60 sec invulnerability and it's used by ~80% of the survivors I face and shows up in every trial. I just feel the timer needs to be reduced a little or needs to deactivate when they do certain actions. There have been so many times I've been DS'd in the endgame by the last survivor, or after I've already hooked another survivor. If I'm not chasing you right off the hook and moving on then I'm not tunneling, and it isn't "tunneling" when someone on death hook unhooks you, gets sacrificed, and leaves you as the only survivor left with literally a second chance to escape if hit. I've also used DS when not being tunneled as survivor because the timer is just too long.
-
I had a doc match, on Azarov's (the worst map for me as killer), and hit three of them with my static blast and all three immediately DC'd. This was the day the Rework went live, btw. In the post game chat they all said "I DC against new Doc, He's too OP" they all had the typical survivor meta perks DS and BT plus an exhaustion perk. Now that the DS bug has been fixed I've seen it less but I had more DC's last week than I've had since I started playing back in September

You shouldn’t have to expect a perk to be used despite how often it is used. Everyone has the exposed status effect before the first person is struck, being notified after ######### hits the fan isn’t a good way to have this perk setup. You get notified when the killer has ruin (even though its obvious when you work on a gen/get off a gen now), you get notified when Myers hits tier 3 that you have exposed, why does NOED get a pass? It’s an inconsistent feature of this perk that gives it a bigger buff than necessary. Giving survivors this notification will balance it out, killers get to have their one-hit freebie perk and survivors know to go hunting for NOED.
As a killer I always expect survivors are running DS, Borrowed, Dead Hard, Self Care, or Adrenaline. Those are meta Survivor perks that show up in every match. I personally don't run NOED cause if I do end up "needing" it I've already completely lost.
-
I use it on Doc since his power doesn't hit survivors in lockers it'll punish them for trying to hide from my static blast and possibly dissuade them from using them again.
-
I've been stuck rubber banding from rank 10-12 on killer for the last three months and can't progress any higher without resorting to trashy tactics that I hate using (which often result in depip anyway). Regularly I'm being matched with rank 1-6 survivors with the very rare actual green rank matches. Rank means absolutely nothing in this game when playing as killer and hopefully once this hidden skill rank matchmaking starts I can stop sweating do much as killer and have actual fun games.
-

A dirty build doesn't give me fun though, nor does it survivors.
Played a Huntress with her one shot hatches who then red Mori'd us. Nobody including the killer had 'fun' but it was a dirty build to do an archive task of killing X players no matter what... think killer lost a pip as they only hooked us all once.
To have fun as killer you need powerful perks with synergy and when they work either everyone adapts after others start to play them or they get nerfed. Killers have fun indeed lol
I finished that challenge with an Ebony on Hag using teleport distance Phantasm duration add-ons and for perks running Corrupt, unrelenting, bbq, and sloppy. Less obnoxious than one shot huntress but with the right trap placement I finished the match in under 4 minutes with only 1 gen done on The Game
-
I play mostly Doc when I play killer and the thing that almost always guarantees a hit for me is when survivors try to mind game or pallet loop me. My best advice for you is get distance and break line of sight. Unless the Doc is super cocky, you trying to mind game or pallet loop or window loop will often times backfire. Sprint burst and Dead Hard are often helpful as well with avoiding his blasts, just keep an eye on the distance of the blast, if he's running a yellow or green electrode he'll get you more often with it making trying to loop pallets and windows nearly impossible.
Tl;dr: break line of sight and get distance asap.

I've been running it on Legion, and its probably because survivors havent figured out the spawns yet but its lasted all game everytime I get Lerys. Ive also had it last all game on Temple of Purgation, and once again...it did good work. Its kinda depressing when it blows up though and all the gens for some reason dont continue regressing until a survivor taps it.
That would be a good change to add to give it some more power. Once it's destroyed any gens that were regressing still regress until interacted with by the survivors.
-
@Almo said:
I was only commenting on rank; matchmaking is another issue, which we are also working on.
It's good to hear you're looking into matchmaking. Getting tired of being a rank 12 killer facing red rank survivors constantly. Surprisingly playing rank 14 survivor I'm mostly playing with and against other yellow rank players. But as killer I'm often facing survivors miles ahead of me in ranks.
-
As a Doc main the things that almost always trip me up is survivors that run calm spirit, ones that drop pallets and run erratically (this one's hit or miss depending on the pallet and the surrounding loops), and those that don't bother trying to mind game. If you're attempting to mind game the doc you're gonna lose unless the doc is a potato, that's just the way his ability is built. There's been some great advice here, just ignore the people going off on you mentioning clown. I still have issues figuring out how to get around him, but I've also legitimately only played against him four times lol.
-
That's not toxic, I play failey split killer/survivor leaning more killer and when I see no hooks near me I usually just say screw it and drop the survivor I'm carrying and move on. What's toxic is the people who enter a game and run the entire map fast vaulting windows and dropping every pallet they see as soon as they see it while not being in a chase just to mess with the other players, had two of those last night, one as killer and one as survivor, made me so mad as survivor and just annoyed as killer.
-
This happens to me sometimes as killer. I'll be in a chase, swing, and it'll hit but then I find the player down on the other side of a window or pallet despite hitting them far prior to the vaulting animation. Last night I was chasing a Dwight on Autohaven and hit him in the building at the Gen but his body magically transported on the other side of the window now injured. It's due to lag
-

If you choose to play this way survivors will also respond. You will see even more DS, unbreakables, toolboxes etc. It works both ways, I don't understand why people always have to pick a side.
I already see multiple DS, BT and Unbreakable every match. I also only run ruin on Hag and after playing with new ruin on a match where it lasted all game it really is a devastating late game perk. As long as it stays up lol
-
I was a doctor main for a while then when I got hag and legion I've mostly played them. I usually don't bother with ptb since I like my trials to actually mean something toward BP, rank, or iridescent shards so tonight was my first time playing with him and these changes to the doctor are choice. He's much much much more viable in chases and tracking depending on add-ons. I haven't tinkered much with different builds yet, prestiged him a week ago so currently unlocking but my run with him now is using whispers, corrupt, overcharge, and unrelenting plus electrode and calm add-ons.
-
All I can say is at a rank 11 killer I get matched with ranks 3-8 survivors regularly but as a rank 15 survivor I play with almost all rank 14-20 players and the occasional green rank

They need to do a full reset and have everyone start at rank 20. They also need to make it significantly harder to get red rank. To a point where it's actually skill based and not time based. Every 3 or so months they should have another full reset. Give rewards to people who get high enough rank
I think a full reset to 20 would be against what they're trying to do with some of the reworks in keeping new players engaged. If they reset it to 15 or something like that then the brand new players wouldn't be completely steamrolled by all the red and purple ranks clawing back to the top.
