I want to give them the benefit of the doubt and was a defender of MMR in the initial planning phases and they proved me wrong there so unless some of the massively awful situations that could arise from this PTB are addressed (which we won't know until it goes live) I'm gonna be incredibly skeptical of BHVRs base changes. Still gonna reserve any concrete judgements until it's announced but thinking of the things that these changes can mess with in terms of balance and knowing how slow BHVR are with their balance changes has me concerned.

I try to avoid steam players because so many cheat. I had a game where I couldn't catch a Meg that was just running in a straight line while I was on a 115 killer, they showed up as cross play so I couldn't avoid them. Something was obviously off about her but it was whatever, maybe she was a God Meg. As soon as the game ends she starts talking in chat and it's just like of course she's on a free epic account...she wasn't using any super obvious cheats besides being about 5% faster without any perks that provide that. I always give them the benefit until I see that there are no perks on any survivor that provide haste.
You are aware the the cross play icon will appear for anyone in a different platform that you right? So if you play in Xbox then anyone on Stadia, Switch, Playstation, Steam, and Epic will have the cross play icon. Similarly I play on Steam and anyone on Stadia, Switch, Epic, Xbox, and Playstation have the icon. Many of the cheaters I encounter have the icon because most of them got a lot of accounts on Epic when the game was free so if they get banned on one they just have to log into another. You can try just turning cross play off if you want to guarantee you aren't against anyone on PC but there are hacks and the like out there that allow these people to insert themselves into lobbies regardless of cross play or platform. It's a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario.

My bloodweb spending idea, get rid of the ramp up and animation, just let me click it with my mouse tor tap the button on my controller to buy it. I like having agency on what I buy and when, just the animation and how long it all takes us so tedious whereas a tap or click per item would go so much faster. Or a select option where you can highlight or pick which route you want to go then a button to "buy selected"

Trapper-Os, just a big ol bowl of honey glazed bear traps.

I must be the "luckiest" survivor ever cause out of 15+ games against Wesker I've only see two grabs in total that didn't damage but inflicted the virus. In fact, I haven't seen more than a 2E against him and that was only one game. And every time one has had an opening to dash at me he's grabbed and damaged or downed me.
-
Interesting, I must be "lucky" going up against unbugged Weskers then.
-
I don't know how people are having this problem, I'm hit by every dash made in my general direction unless I drop a pallet in time. Have the people getting "skill issued" checked their ping? They might just be getting BHVR'd or Dedicated instead
-
Nemesis, Wesker has mobility and his hindered virus that makes playing against him in solo feel as tedious as Legion or Plague. At least Nemesis feels better in the 1v1 and you can have more engagement other than run as far as possible while staring behind you to loop a pallet once before repeating the process.
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
Sadly I keep getting other killers when I am on survivor. On Wesker, I can tell the survivors are really disappointed I am Wesker, or something. They keep giving up and disconnecting for some reason. Is he really unfun to play against? Lol. It has been super consistent.
I find him very unfun to play against. If he doesn't stomp the team he just camps and tunnels like the game owes him money if he doesn't secure at least one kill. He's not as tedious as Legion but with his virus and speed reseting is a chore and a half on top of actual objectives
-
Needs a graphics overhaul but for the most part they're fairly balanced, Boat leaning killer sided and Pantry leaning survivor sided. The biggest problem is they're buggy maps, I'll get hit by pallets I'm not within striking range of, Nemesis whip can't really hit at any angles other than straight on at windows and pallets, Blight slides off a lot more stuff there, I haven't played her in a while but at one point Nurse couldnt blink up onto the pier and at the time there were still spots Trappers traps clipped through sections of the mud on the map so they were completely hidden.
TLDR: Needs some love but I don't think a full overhaul like Haddonfield is necessary.

we can go farther then that if you count kids unplugging a magnavox odyssey because there upset. i believe that puts us around 1972 now but hey lets try to take this farther back if we can.
Taking your ball and going home because you're losing mind game. That could be as far back as any game using a ball/other necessary equipment is required.

Since they lost the license the Stranger Things perks became general perks like We'll Make It, Spine Chill, Hope, Dark Sense, etc. Kinda annoying for anyone who had the content before but it made it so new players could still get those perks so there isn't any "disadvantage" just because someone started playing after ST left DbD

It provides a percentage of BPs for whichever role is needed, and by how much. I've seen Survivor at 100%, Killer at 100%, and Survivor at 50%. Not sure if there are any other BP tiers besides 50%/100%.
When I booted the game up tonight survivor was at 100% and then after playing a killer match for daily and spending 1.5mil BP it was 25% when I queued up as survivor

I'm already 11/20 for Breakout, hasn't really been much of an issue not sure why people are complaining.
Congrats but some of us have lives outside of a videogame that take up our time. Just think about it this way, if it was even halved you'd already have it done by now and every other map specific achievement requires the completion of the "main building" gen and in most cases escaping. If they had made it "Escape RCPD 20 times" it'd still be hella annoying to accomplish but much much easier for anybody that plays the game casually to finish in a reasonable time.

I'm still waiting on Artist. Seems kinda odd they haven't added any since Claire and Chris

You need to open the gates as well????
BHVR please, I know you want people to play RPD and like it but this is not how you do it
Well if I see people burning RPD, I'm just gonna assume they want the achievement.
Yep, and the crappy part is you don't know which one burned it so you can't really make sure the person going for it is the one actually making progress unless you completely throw the game.

At least you can farm that one. I'm at 7/10 - 1/10 naturally, 6/10 with one group I memed with and who constantly wanted me to yeet them around. You can also camp hooks to get it easily; throw the unhooker into the unhooked player, you can't miss.
Outbreak Breakout is just absurd. Not just 20 escapes on RPD, but 20 escapes where you personally opened the gates. I don't even want to play on RPD 20 times period. Ughhhhhh.
If it was farmable it wouldn't be so bad, like the three blink nurse gen grab (meme around until survivors decide to farm anf meme with you) or Huntress down 20 survivors from 24+ meters away (I used MYC and just farmed unhooks for a few games)
Totally agree, I don't want to play on that map much, even after the rework it feels less awful but it's still awful cause of the size.
-
I play on PC with a controller and have it hooked up to my TV in the living room. I've tried M+KB and yeah it's nice to have the better button mapping and a snappier camera control it's really no different to me.
As far as visuals or performance all I know is the Switch is rough af.
-
It infuriates me too but there are times I don't ready up, like quickly getting up to grab a drink or take a quick leak. Best advice I can give is have your phone handy and watch some videos or scroll through socials for that minute and try not to let it bother ya.

Yeah, no. I've been taking a break from the game because I'm so tired of the playstyles I come across. My friend still plays attempts to play daily for some reason, and he's never toxic, but I watch him get tunneled out all the time. The killer ignores the other survivors to tunnel my friend out. He's often running some meme build and is just an easy target because he doesn't run second chance perks and he's solo.
Unless some of the killers think that randomly crouching at terrible times in the middle of a chase is toxic. It's not, by the way: it's what happens when you play on console/controller. It's also part of the reason he's easy to tunnel out, because he's only able to drop maybe 1/3 of the pallets he gets to, and the other times he's button mashing and nothing's happening and then he's on the ground.
Oh, also, Switch killers will attempt to tunnel out Switch survivors every time. This I know from experience. You can't tell me it's toxic simply to play survivor on Switch.
If you're fumbling left trigger and and left bumper mid chase then you may want to consider a different controller with buttons further apart or a grip over the controller that gives your fingers more room to move from one to the other. I play with a 360 controller on PC and have never accidentally crouched when I meant to hit run. I have accidentally hit drop pallet instead of heal self (medkit) but that's because healing and interaction is always RB unless you're using an item then it's RT. Playing on switch you have the option of the pro controller or whatever it's called if you don't want to use the joycons
-
My advice is to wait until grade reset and do it then. At Ash you basically just need to 4k for Merciless and make sure you aren't camping too much.
Personally I think they should rework "Merciless" to appear when you get a 4k instead of having it tied to the emblem system. It would save them having to change the actual achievements since they stated it's a lengthy and difficult process, but if they could do it in game and just give the Merciless end game screen on a 4k it would make things so much easier.
On a separate note, good luck with Wraith, Plague, Bubba, Trickster, Slinger, and Blight, who at higher grade have to be played as M1 killers because their powers end chases too quickly or drop chases.
Hag was also hard, after Third Seal on Everyone and Devour Procs it's a complete blood bath, so don't hope your totems stay up.
-
It's just ego, try not to take it to heart. When people are pointed out anything they did objectively wrong, e.g. not rescuing someone on 2nd hook while the killer is distracted or rushing the unhook before the killer can leave, they'll get defensive because their ego won't allow them to admit that they ######### up.
In post game I'll take the side of the person who was slighted, like the other day I had a Nea on my team that decided to not ready up and waste everyone's time before last second swapping to a flashlight, obviously the killer tunneled her out. In post game she called out the killer for tunneling and when he said why he had she started in on the whole "trash killer" tirade I replied saying I didn't blame the killer for it since I would have done the same and that she decided to drag out the lobby time when everyone else was readied up. When I came to the killers defense she shut up immediately.
TLDR: Ego makes people think they're right and sometimes you just need a second voice saying "nah bro, you're wrong"
-
They made a perk that did what they tested a while back, pausing the hook timer, and people abused it in PTB just like they had abused it last time it was tested years ago as a basekit change.
"Those who forget the past..." and all that, ya know?

The dev update makes it sound like the bloodweb lowered costs are replacing the BP bonus which was promised to come with this coming chapter. Am I just confused?
Not sure if it's what you're referring to but the reduced cost is because of the removal of the BBQ and Chili and We're Gonna Live Forever bonuses. They didn't mention the match making incentives at all or any other BP offerings.
-
I like how so many players were just doom and gloom about the 6.1.0 update and BHVR kept saying "we're keeping a close eye on the changes" yet players still complained constantly like it's the end of the world. But now BHVR is actually doing what they said they'd do, kept an eye on updates and adjusting as needed.
-
It's a game from 2016 that was developed for PC only, got some success, and then was poorly ported to console under the assumption it wasn't gonna stick around long. The game was build on a plate of spaghetti and with each new update was tangled up even more making proper console optimization even harder as the years went on.
-
The buffs to hit cool down and breaking speed are what made it worse to me. I never really ran any 2nd chance meta or get out of jail perks so overall my gameplay feels unchanged but the distance lost on a hit cuts many chases a lot shorter. Some of it may be the lack of DH for distance or opportunist killer players leaning more into proxy camping and hard tunneling but for me specifically it's the lack of distance gained when losing a health state.
To clarify I wouldn't say is broken, ruined, or completely unbearable, that's just what has made my solo queue games a little worse off.
-
My idea is a ping wheel. Playing Back4Blood you can easily access a wheel that allows you to mark a location, say stop, show objective, thumbs up, thumbs down, and a spray paint tag. If DbD implemented something like that they could have ping location visible within x meters, chase, hiding, going to unhook, healing, and repairing. Make it so some pings can be seen map wide and some are only visible when within 20m of the survivor that ping'd. The other option that would provide a lot of info and assist without buffing swf is the action icons.

RE was a mess on release. Console lag and crash issues, RPD actually broke the game and had to be removed for a little while, among other bugs.
The only chapter I can remember that came close to being as bad with all the bugs was Twins release where the killer was put live in an unfinished state, maps with hills had a collision bug where you could get trapped in one spot and the only way out was to be slugged and bleed out or DC, Nurse got broken again, sounds got broken again where players with Iron Will would make no footsteps and be completely silent while on the ground, among other perk/map/kikler power bugs.
With he kill switch they implemented, changes to how they implement updates in terms of download times, and what seems to me like a larger team for QA and updates, and how solid the last few chapters have been I'm hopeful for the next RE chapter (with the exception of splitting and reworking RPD, ain't nithing can save that sinking ship)
-
You have a Nancy icon, why aren't you running Inner Healing? If you cleanse a totem you're either removing a Hex or lowering the chances of NOED and once you're unhooked if nobody heals you there's lockers all over the place.
-
Only thing I've noticed was the first game I tried to get the Undying time challenge on I brought Hag with a full Hex build on Midwich and within the first 30 seconds all of my Hexes were cleansed at the same time. I don't encounter many cheaters unless they're doing subtle speed hacks and I just don't notice.
-
Play "scummy" and learn to play what I call Chase Hag. Chase Hag is where you use 5-6 traps to build a web then reserve the rest for chases, shut down loops as they get to them with a trap near a pallet or the middle of a jungle gym and get the 2nd hit when they either greed the loop or have to cross a dead zone or circle back to a previous tile. Then you run MYC and STBFL to get the unhooker right after they unhook or force the hook trade with STBFL if they seem like they're waiting out the trap before unhooking.
-
5 sec BT (plus haste) basekit is a good starting point. The problem is the players that just assumed you no longer need to run BT to help counter tunneling, they mostly switched to OTR to help counter it in their builds.
Do I think it could be extended to 8-10secs? Yes.
Did the devs also say they're keeping a close eye on this patch and the data collected to make adjustments as needed? Also Yes. And bonus, we've already seen that in the quick nerf to Thanat after "Forever Legion" and "No Gens for you Plague" had a massive uptick in pick rate and I'm assuming kills or DCs.
As far as DbD being in a "rough spot" they just made a massive update that forced a lot of people into different MMRs and without telling us how the values change for all we know it could have been weeks for those people to lose enough MMR to get to a point where they are just now working their way back up. Personally I think they jumped the gun on MMR and should have kept ranks but made sure everyone went back further each month for match making sake. The reason the old system was so messed up is a players got to red and when reset happened they only had to win a couple games to get back to red so eventually a vast majority of the player base was all the same rank bracket unless you stopped playing for a couple months or smurfed so players of vastly different skills were paired up. This would have made the first couple days of the reset wonky but the try hards would have try harded their way out of your skill zone quickly so you could have relatively chill matches after a couple days. But instead they implemented a mystery MMR that as far as I know doesn't degrade much when you take a break from the game and when it can't find players of the same rating quickly will expand the search to pair you with players not in your rating and we end up almost back to square one of what it was just pre MMR.

I only care if it is a challenge that I am working on that requires me to basically win other than that I don't really care as long as I got to play
Like getting killed on first hook or being forced to deal with a bully squad that want me to be miserable I don't like dealing with that
Exact same boat here. Or if I'm achievement hunting and have to finish a gen on a specific map and escape or trying to get an adept.

Killer queues are longer cause less people are playing survivor. Give it time for role incentives to be reinstated or try to play at a different time of the day. For my server region killer queues are around 2-3min and survivor are instant at peak hours, most other times of the day it's about 15-30 seconds for each role.
-
I play on PC with a controller and my advice is to use the power when you know you can get the hit (Survivor in the open, running to next tile, larger loops, etc.) or to traverse the map faster. Don't try fancy flicks or tight loops with his power on controller, it just adds more time to chases.
-

survs need no buff, killers need some of their addons to be basekit, killers are still weak
Not once in OPs post did they mention this. They are talking how jacked MMR is and venting frustration on that.
To your point and tying in to OPs, they can't realistically gather data for balance fixes for either direction when MMR can skew kills or escapes by throwing a killer against a team of combined 20 hour survivors then the next game with a team of combined 5,000+ hour survivors.

Well yeah, that situation is completely different. I'm not gonna dodge all Rebecca and Adas when the new DLC is out lol. But using that as a basis for any characters that have been out for a long time is more like an educated guess (which tends to be right most of the time). The only other exceptions I can think of might be if someone is doing a tome challenge or a daily ritual, but that tends to be rare.
Except I don't like Dwight or Claudette but occasionally get a daily for them so they're sitting at P3 with default cosmetics. Or I never got around to getting Quentin, Laurie, Jill, or Cheryl to P1 before the update so they're still at P0 and I have 1500 hours in the game. Even no prestige is still absolutely no indicator of a person's skill or time commitment to the game.

I'd love some horror comics rep, or just comics in general. Someone like Scarecrow would work from mainline DC, for example.
Quick, someone think of a good associated killer that'd bring us old school classic Vertigo label John Constantine as as a survivor...
The First of the Fallen, basically vertigo's Satan, cast into the pit before Lucifer even fell from grace. Cured Constantine of cancer before John tricked him to save his own soul The First pledged to destroy Constantine. Fitting better with DbD lore they could do a lesser demon or deacon of hell for the killer.
Other comic licenses that could be cool would be 30 Days of Night, Nailbiter, Revival, American Vampire, or Wytches. Books like Nailbiter and Revival would theoretically be easier to get licensing for since they're published through Image comics which is technically and indie publisher where the creators hold the rights to their books instead of Vertigo (which is now DC Black Label), Dark Horse, or any Marvel properties (with the exception of Icon which is creator owned but currently dormant)
-
Artist: same reasons you mentioned.
Hag: just bored, it's either a massacre or a little bit of a struggle and I know exactly which in the first two minutes of the match. And it's almost always a 4k
Sadako: I'm a sucker for a straightforward M1 killer with a fun side gimmick (Pinhead, Ghostie, Trapper, Clown) but she lacks reliable antiloop and her demanifested state is a complete joke.

They could've still gotten flagged if OP recorded some video evidence before hand
True true, I don't think any bans would come from it though, unless it was a repeat offence since by OPs own admission it had been 2-3 minutes before they stopped patrolling and went to check basement. But I'm also not in the know on they mysteries of BHVRs report system lol

It would be if you hadn't found them.

Yeah, Its basically just a toggle for skill check wiggle at this point.

If the gen explodes then that means they missed the skill check, so the gen will continue regressing if they just tapped it and missed the skill check.
Or if you mean the old bug where the gen keeps regressing even if you hit the skill check then that has been fixed already.
No, when it explodes and continues regressing. I'm pretty sure old Overcharge if you tapped and missed the skill check it would explode but stop the regression. But I might just be losing it lol
-
It starts at 75 but you can't just tap it, if you do you get the skill check and it continues to regress, unless that's a bug they haven't fixed but ive been running Overcharge+Oppression abd when I kick a gen someone always comes and taps it, it explodes, and when I check it it's still regressing.
-
Would be nice to make it so a "Merciless" was simply a 4k and the pips for grades are their own separate thing. Like 0-1K "Entity Hungers", 2K "brutal", 3k "Ruthless" screens but emblems are separate. That way they don't have to change the achievements through the different clients since it's apparently an expensive and time consuming process.
On a separate note the hardest one I've had getting is Left Behind for survivor, damn near impossible with the way endgame is now unless I can get a killer to farm it for me.
The hardest killer adept I've had getting was Plague, her power makes it so difficult, you have to basically play M1 only, which oddly enough is how I got Slinger, Bubba, Trickster, and Twins adepts.
